It’s hot hermit summer!! 🐠🪸🤿

I can’t remember a time in my life where the summers weren’t full of berries to eat. Every trail has at least a few bushes offering their wares to people walking by.

Many of them aren’t monetized, they don’t keep well, not appealing enough for the bother of cultivating them. Salmon berries, huckleberries, thimble berries. We have black and blue berries, too. But you don’t see most of our local berries in the grocery store.

One of my most precious memories with my beloved was our earliest hike together. They didn’t grow up native to the area and exclaimed in alarm when they saw me reach casually toward a bush to pick a berry as we walked by.

“You can’t just eat berries! What if it’s poisonous?!”

“It’s not,” I said, puzzled. “I guess there’s some poisonous berries around here but I don’t eat those ones, it’s really easy to tell.”

“Those are safe to eat?”

I laughed and popped it into my mouth only to immediately realize it was horribly unripe. Salmon berries come in two colors you see, orange and red.

I’d mistaken an unripe red berry for a ripe orange one. It had felt soft enough to be ripe but it was so bitter it hurt. So an instant after asserting it was safe to eat I opened my mouth with a “bleh” to let it fall back out.

“They- they’re not poisonous it just wasn’t ripe,” I insisted.

My beloved looked skeptical but scanned the bush and plucked another berry to me. “Try this one.”

The sun shone beautifully through the dappled tree canopy, illuminating the gleaming berry in their hand, a perfect snapshot of a romantic summer moment. I took the berry, my fingers brushing their palm to bring the little fruit up to my lips while looking into their smiling eyes.

I had to spit it out.

It was as overwhelmingly bitter as the last one, but I didn’t mind the way my beloved laughed at me.

once again, i’m here with a whore thought.

heavily thinking about summers at the lake house and everyone going on the boat except you and Quinn. he just tells everyone you’re both tired from the travel from Vancouver to Michigan. no one even questions it tbh

that’s how you and Quinn ended up on the back patio, straddling his lap on one of the lounge chairs with his hands gripping the fat of your hips and watching you while you’re rambling about the book you read on the flight.

“Quinn, are you hard?” your voice is quiet, almost timid.

“you’re sitting on my dick, in the tinist piece of fabric. yeah i’m hard. especially knowing i could just,” his hand moves lower, a small sign to lean back a little. “pull this over, and set your pretty cunt right where she belongs.”

“Quinny…”

he’s chuckling at you, making you feel so small under his gaze.

“what baby? your brain already dumb? i haven’t even touched you yet. better speak up if you want something, i see the boat coming up.”

I’m making a pavlova for Passover tonight. I did a six egg recipe and made a lemon curd with my yolks, so plenty of curd. I suspect an additional lemon would’ve made my flavor pop more but it’s too late now.

It was my first time doing meringue but it came together nicely even without caster sugar. We’ll see how it goes when it comes out of the oven.

i’m here to ramble about fluffy bf!Quinn that’s not bf anymore and he’s your husband.

but no one knows. he was home for a couple days, the first he did when he got home was get on his knee in front of you and show you the prettiest ring he found.

“i know this isn’t what you dreamed about and it’s really sudden but every day i think about coming home to you, every day i think about how life can’t get better than it is with you. and i found the way to make it even better. you with my name. you as my wife.”

and who’s gonna say no? NO ONE.

you wake up the next morning and Quinn’s just watching you with the biggest heart eyes. “wanna go to the courthouse? we can plan something big for later i promise.”

“don’t need anything big as long as i have you. let’s do it.” and he’s all giddy. he’s so fucking excited.

“when we’re done, we can go to some tattoo shop and i’ll get your initials on my finger to make it official on my end and i’ll wear my ring during off season”

after the papers are signed and everything’s official you’re calling the family. no one’s shocked honestly.
