10 Amazing Health Benefits of Running
Running is an excellent form of exercise that has been known to provide numerous health benefits to the human body. From improving mental health to reducing the risk of chronic diseases, running is one of the best forms of physical activity that anyone can engage in. In this article, we will discuss ten amazing health benefits of running that will convince you to lace up your running shoes and hit the pavement.
1. Running Improves Cardiovascular Health
Running is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that helps to strengthen your heart and lungs. It increases blood flow, improves oxygenation, and enhances the efficiency of the cardiovascular system. Regular running can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, and improve overall cardiovascular health.
2. Running Boosts Mood and Mental Health
Running is an excellent way to boost your mood and reduce stress levels. It releases endorphins, also known as the “feel-good” hormones, that improve mood and reduce anxiety and depression. Running can also improve cognitive function and memory, and reduce the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
3. Running Helps with Weight Loss and Management
Running is an effective way to burn calories and lose weight. It is a high-intensity exercise that can burn up to 600 calories per hour, depending on your weight and intensity level. Regular running can also increase metabolism and reduce body fat, leading to weight loss and better weight management.
4. Running Increases Bone Density
Running is a weight-bearing exercise that can help to increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. It strengthens bones, muscles, and joints, making them less prone to injury and fractures. Regular running can also improve balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls in older adults.
5. Running Improves Sleep Quality
Running can improve sleep quality and reduce the risk of sleep disorders. It helps to regulate the circadian rhythm, the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle, and promote deeper and more restful sleep. Regular running can also reduce the symptoms of sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.
6. Running Boosts Immune System Function
Running can boost immune system function and reduce the risk of infections and diseases. It increases the production of white blood cells, antibodies, and other immune system components, improving the body’s ability to fight off viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens.
7. Running Reduces the Risk of Chronic Diseases
Regular running can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. It improves blood sugar control, reduces inflammation, and lowers cholesterol levels, leading to better overall health and reduced risk of chronic diseases.
8. Running Increases Longevity
Running can increase longevity and reduce the risk of premature death. It is associated with a lower risk of all-cause mortality and can add years to your life. Regular running can also improve quality of life, physical function, and independence in older adults.
9. Running Improves Mental Toughness and Resilience
Running is a mentally challenging exercise that can help to improve mental toughness and resilience. It requires discipline, determination, and focus, which can translate into other areas of life. Regular running can improve self-confidence, self-esteem, and overall mental well-being.
10. Running Provides a Sense of Community and Connection
Running can provide a sense of community and connection with others. It can be a social activity that brings people together and fosters friendships and relationships. Running clubs and groups can provide a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes health and wellness.
In conclusion, running is an excellent form of exercise that provides numerous health benefits to the human body. From improving cardiovascular health to reducing the risk of chronic diseases, running is one of the best ways to stay healthy and improve overall well-being. Regular running can improve mood, cognitive function, weight management, bone density, sleep quality, immune system function, mental toughness, and resilience. Do you guys notice how when Shawn Fain, president of the United Auto Workers union, started planning a general strike, he did it by a) targeting his messaging towards unions with the ability to safely and effectively strike in large numbers, b) laid out a clear, actionable plan for those unions to follow (setting contracts to all expire at the same time, since many unions cannot strike while under contract), c) is using union contracts to set clear, actionable demands that can be met in order to gauge success and provide an end goal, and d) started organizing FOUR YEARS before the proposed strike date to give people the chance to plan accordingly, because it takes a really freaking long time to get tens of millions of people organized?
You notice how he didn't do it by slapping a message on Twitter saying 'hey nobody go to work on Monday, that'll really show 'em'?
#those 'monday is a general strike stay home if you can!!!' posts are SO performative and they really annoy me#like. you MUST know you can't organize a general strike of tens of millions of people by sharing an infographic on twitter. Right?#don't even get me started on the most recent one that was like 'we understand the last strike only gave one day of notice'#'so this time we're giving you two! strike is on tuesday everyone don't forget!'#like GENUINELY was that supposed to be a joke#the linked article also touches on how difficult actual organizing a workplace is which is nice#because they mention previous failed attempts in which organizers basically just handed out leaflets#and assumed the benefits would be obvious. which i think is basically the equivalent of posting an infographic on twitter#which is to say - not effective at all. Organizing is a LOT of work! Running an effective union even more so!#labor rights

#law. lying low for weeks: the plan is slowly coming together. the pieces are slotting into place. this WILL run smoothly this time.#luffy. the moment he touches land: I'm here to loudly overthrow the government with my sheer power of will#law's intelligence perplexes me because he is. so strategic. knows when and how to play his cards#and is insightful enough to be able to get on people's nerves with their greatest fears#but also. how has he not cottoned on to the fact that this is how luffy operates.#yes he will do the loudest most reckless thing for the sake of other people. less steve harrington "i try to be a good guy despite my past" and more steve harrington "i've always been a good person (albeit probs annoying asf), you just stereotyped me based on my interest in sports"
#steve harrington#like why is he always apologizing#i think people want to make him into smth completely docile with the added benefit of apocalyptic berserking#but like he's a bitch and also besties with a lesbian#he can both dish it and take it#and i feel like people tend to take the general fandom consensus that steve used to be an asshole and run with it#not to reiterate but guys was he even really a bully or just a popular high schooler#like yeah bullying can get really bad esp like according to those fucked up eighties movies#but also like sometimes teens are just fucking mean and clique-y#sorry is it a crime to be insular and wary of outsiders#anyway more steve harrington being misjudged but also not caring bc the people who matter know him better#pushing my perfect steve harrington agenda#bc he's not perfect actually but he's my perfect little princess who needs to be loved by everyone

For the record I think Vox is being effected and possibly swayed by Val’s poison just like Angel is, the pink signifying it on Angel shows up on Voxs screen during and after interacting and being influenced by Val directly, when Vox is operating independently it isn’t an actual normal feature of his
This paired with an earlier moment from episode 2 when Val first mentioned something had happened with Angel Dust, Vox seemed happy about the idea of Angel quitting
“He quit? :D”
It’s interesting for sure, makes me wonder what Vox actually thinks about Angel, and more importantly, actually thinks about Valentino. He’s a business man, and clearly the Vees all teamed up (at least initially) because it helps elevate their status and power spread, they may be friendly with each other but we as an audience don’t actually know if there’s more to it as of now. But still, interesting
#personally I think Vox is afraid#He clearly has some defensive traits about his status and feels the need to prove a point no one even questioned yet#I wonder if he knows on some level. that if he were to falter he could very well end up in a situation like Angels#I think once we see more of how Velvette’s actual relationship with Val is we’ll have a better picture of what’s going with them#but one thing is for sure. Val is *manipulative*. and he’ll take what he wants no matter the consequences. Vox is able to calm Val down but#that could be having a rebound effect on Vox in the long run. keeping him in check. I doubt Val would stick up for either of them anyways#not unless it directly benefited him#I hope it gets touched on in some way bc I love the other two Vs characters and want to see Val squashed like the grimy insect he is but#ya know#in an in character making sense sorta way#cats chatterbox#hazbin hotel#hazbin hotel Vox

Labor, on its own, has no inherent value. The willingness or ability to labor does not translate to virtue. It can confer financial value, since everyone should be compensated for their labor, but it absolutely does not have inherent moral value.
Disabled people are not obligated to perform for you. They are not required, morally, to break themselves in order to earn some sort of personal value and prove their "worth" to society. They do not need to exhaust every possible means of survival to warrant aid, or spend the entirety of their existence pursuing the same amount of production as others even though it takes everything they have and leaves no room for anything else. They are not obligated to push their limits.
If that pisses you off because YOU have to work to the limit, or beyond, your problem is that you are not being paid enough or you are being asked to do the work of more than one person. Not that disabled people get help for "nothing".
You deserve better, too, you lovable dingus! Every single thing that benefits disabled people will benefit you and the ones you love, either immediately, or eventually. All of it!
#when i go into a care home my disability payments stop going to me and go to the care home except for the $50/month they will let me have#that's right!#so if you're temporarily abled maybe consider that a run of bad luck is all that separates you/your loved ones from this potential future!#you're fucked if you can't labor so it's time you accept that it isn't a virtue and people who can't still deserve support because buddy#i have news for you about human minds and bodies and their relationships to accidents and illnesses and time#and pal you aren't going to like it#get uncomfortable and get to work pushing for unions that might secure you benefits#and push for things that benefit adults who have never been able to work because that's just plain the right thing to do#like UBI and an end to income caps and savings limits for disabled people#and also extremely extremely low or no taxes for the self-employed#and universal health care#and biger SSI payments#stop seeing the value of your fellow human through the lens of exploitation#stop being the eyes of capitalism and be the hands that pull others up

"If this sort of genocide happened in somewhere like America people wouldn't be ignoring it."
*stares at the camera in Native American*
this isn't to downsize the the slaughter of Palestinians but to point out that America is more than comfortable with slaughter not only overseas but on its own soil so long as it secures their efforts in colonization. If you call me a Zionist for this post I'm taking your bones.
#it just makes me wonder#who exactly do you think counts as a person#what is an acceptable tragedy to you#and i feel like its easy to blame Israel because of antisemitism and how deeply it runs#its more difficult to accept that your own people not only caused but continue to benefit from the genocide of my people

Alright new Jason Todd headcanons in a dpxdc setting:
Danny is a "liminal" ghost, rather than a "half" ghost. He's alive and dead at the same time. (He's like Jesus Christ (in the church denomination I grew up in), fully ghost and fully human.) Danny, in human form, can go through a ghost shield, because he IS a living human.
Jason, however, is a reanimated corpse. He isn't a ghost, wouldn't have a ghost core, etc, he has a normal human system that runs ON ectoplasm. Jason CANNOT go through a ghost shield, because he is always an ectoplasmic entity. Danny can go through the Fenton Ghost Catcher and be split into a ghost and a human; if Jason went through the ghost catcher, he would straight up die.
(For my purposes I'm gonna say that Jason became an ectoplasmic entity upon his resurrection, but wasn't very stable. Dunking in the Lazarus pit stabilized his system but also poisoned his ectoplasm.)
I do think that Jason could learn certain ghost abilities if he learned to harness his ectoplasm, especially if they detoxed him off the Lazarus waters. He's probably already enhancing his stealth and strength in ways he hasn't really noticed. I think he's held back by the amount of physical matter he's lugging around, so maybe he couldn't fly, but I'm imagining temporary invisibility, or intagibility of like, a limb at a time. Maybe he can't walk through walls, but in a fight he can dodge by instinctively making the targeted part of his body intangible.
#i saw someone call jason a 'revenant' in a fanfic once and that is juicy as hell so I'm stealing that- that's what he is in this au#Jason's ectoplasm does react to other ectoplasmic entities so they can sense eachother#but for ghosts he's fucking weird because he doesn't have a core for them to resonate with or w/e#danny would probably think that he's another halfa/liminal at first but the more time they spend together the more that doesn't add up#so I know that I'm trying to give Jason ghost powers but honestly this whole thing is kind of a bum deal for him#he gets all of a ghost's weaknesses and barely any of the benefits#honestly I'm conceptualizing this as more of a disability than a superpower#discovering that youre less alive than you thought you were and you're technically just a walking talking corpse running on supernatural go#is fucked up and creepy and upsetting!#and it's something that he would have to come to terms with before he could start exploring what new opportunities it might give him#and i think that's really interesting#it's part of why I love messing with Jason in dpxdc stories so much#danny is fully ghost and fully human and he never feels like he fits in anywhere already#Jason is not quite human and not quite ghost so you can imagine how that would go for him#anyways i think they should be best friends and visit frostbite in the realms to make sure jason is healthy and also they should maybe kiss#and listen to the black parade together and talk about dying and stuff#danny fenton#jason todd#dp x dc#dpxdc#danny phantom#dc#batfam#my rambles#revenant jason todd

ruhgh the pilot. the pilotttt.......... the patient getting wilson to reflect on house's actions and he barely has to examine before determining with a little smile that "yeah, he cares about me :) " like it's such a little thing. utterly precious. but also very smoothly gets the audience to think similarly: people will say anything, it's what they do that really shows what they mean and how they feel. love is a verb love is a doing word
#house md#the pilot is sooo strong#very pretty too but that's not here nor there rn#and like you understand on a surface level how all the stuff house does raises hell around the hospital#particularly wrt a patient's treatment#like yeah he does malpractice and he can be caustic which to any passerby would look like he's torturing people for the hell of it#but we see it all go down from house's perspective so we see how thoroughly he dedicates himself to his patients#he'll run tests ON HIMSELF if he must if it will benefit the patient#he'll speak carefully yet not mince his words if he talks to the patient 1 on 1. he DOES want them to get better. whatever that entails#he cares. just not in a way that is typical or even believable at times#and caring about wilson???? EXTREMELY OBVIOUS but only if you like. Get house#son of coma guy shows this mutated endearment be reciprocated#by way of house urging wilson to leave so he's safe from legal harm when. yknow#“i don't want to push this until it breaks”#only then for wilson to go and establish an alibi for BOTH of them#aouruurhghhghh i'm going to start punching HOLES IN THE WALLS

the one thing i will say on the Trump verdict is I'm seeing a lot of posts about basically "how can we let a FELON run for PRESIDENT (and/or vote)" which is making me feel very "don't make me tap the sign" about why folks who've been convicted of felonies also deserve the right to run for office/vote and how creating categories of people who are not allowed to run for office/vote is a great way to incentivize pushing political opponents (or members of marginalized groups) into those categories in order to disenfranchise and disempower them
#i do think he should be disqualified under the 14th amendment but that's...not really what this trial was about#and i just would like folks to be a teensy bit more mindful of what you're talking about when ur like#''we're going to let a FELON run for PRESIDENT''#when like. if you get charged twice for having weed on you that could be a felony#(this is an oversimplification but like u get the point right. like US folks we know abt the injustice inherent in our ''justice'' system#and how historically that has & continues to be used to benefit folks just like trump#right?#like we know that folks convicted of felonies or formerly incarcerated people should not be excommunicated from the political system right?#it is important to me that us folks know this)#anyway this is my soapbox for the night#catch me next time when a) someone talks about how ADDICTS are inherently TERRIBLE or (more likely) b) ballet is portrayed stupidly in medi#personal
