i never posted these Ben AU drawings here and i've seen a few asks wondering about it so... here's a little synopsis i wrote for myself as a potential description later when I post it (because i don't wanna spoil it):

"There's a new boy in Damian's class. He's charming, if it bit awkward. He's just as clever as he is smart mouthed, and he's popular with their classmates. What's worse is that Benjamin Fitzpatrick lives next door in the old Drake Manor and Damian's family are convinced that Ben could be a good friend of his one day. Like that would ever happen.

Luckily for Damian, they're all more focused on the fact that there are two new vigilantes in Gotham acting like they own the place.

Unluckily, everything goes to shit when Ben starts acting strange and sickly, Spider-Man disappears just when they were getting close to him, and Damian learns that Ben's real name might not actually be Ben. Did he mention that Ben might be his older brother's clone?"

The Gotham skyline loomed outside the grand windows of Wayne Manor, the night cloaking the city in a blanket of darkness. You stood in the study, absently tracing the contours of a glass of red wine, your mind swirling with thoughts. It had been a long day, filled with charity events and high-society mingling, but none of it mattered when Bruce was absent.

You sighed, glancing at the clock. It was well past midnight, and you knew he was out there, fighting crime as the city’s protector. As much as you admired his dedication, the worry gnawed at you. You felt a pull between wanting him safe and wanting him to be true to himself.

The heavy door creaked open, and there he was—Bruce, looking every bit the dark knight. His suit was rumpled, and a shadow of fatigue lingered under his eyes. The moment he stepped inside, the air shifted. You felt a mix of relief and frustration, all coiling inside you.

���Late night?” you asked, trying to keep your tone light.

“Just the usual,” he replied, his voice low and gravelly. He ran a hand through his hair, and you could see the weariness etched in his features. “What about you? Did you manage to stay awake during the gala?”

You chuckled, though it felt strained. “Barely. But I was thinking about you—again.”

He stepped closer, the warmth radiating off him wrapping around you like a familiar embrace. “You shouldn’t worry about me. I can handle myself.”

“I know you can,” you said, your voice softening. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t worry. Every time you leave this house, I fear I might not see you again.”

His gaze softened, and for a moment, the walls he had built around himself seemed to crack. “I do this to protect you, to protect everyone. You know that.”

“And I appreciate it,” you said, stepping closer to him, your heart racing. “But I need you to know that I’m not just some delicate flower waiting for you to save me. I’m here, Bruce. I’m part of this too. I am yours just as much as you are mine.”

He looked down at you, the weight of your words hanging in the air. You could see the conflict in his eyes, the struggle between the man he was and the one he felt he had to be.

“Being with me is dangerous,” he murmured, his brow furrowing. “I’ve lost people I care about before. I can’t let that happen again.”

“Being with you is a choice I make every day,” you replied firmly, your resolve strengthening. “I don’t want to live in fear of what could happen. I want to face it with you. You can’t push me away just because of what you’ve lost.”

He opened his mouth to protest, but you reached up, placing a finger over his lips. “You’re not alone in this, Bruce. You never have to be. I understand the risks, but I’m willing to take them because I love you.”

For a heartbeat, the air between you was charged with unspoken emotions. Then, slowly, he took your hand, his thumb brushing over your knuckles. “You make it sound so easy.”

“It’s not easy,” you admitted, your voice trembling slightly. “But nothing worth fighting for ever is. You need to let me in—let us be a team. We’re stronger together.”

He held your gaze, searching for sincerity in your eyes. “You’re everything I’ve ever wanted, but I’m scared of what I could lose.”

“Then let me show you that love can be a strength, not a weakness,” you urged, feeling the warmth of his hand wrap around yours. “We can support each other through the darkness.”

He stepped closer, closing the distance between you, his eyes locked onto yours. “I don’t want to lose you.”

“Then stop pushing me away,” you whispered, your heart racing. “I want to fight by your side, Bruce. Let me be there for you.”

In that moment, the tension broke, and he pulled you into his arms, enveloping you in warmth and safety. “I don’t deserve you,” he murmured against your hair.

You tightened your grip around him, feeling the weight of the world lift slightly. “You do. We both do.”

As you stood there, wrapped in each other’s arms, the chaos of Gotham faded into the background. In the darkness of the night, you found solace in the promise you shared: you were bound together, not just by love but by the understanding that you would face the shadows as one.

And for the first time in a long while, Bruce felt the flicker of hope ignite within him—a promise that together, you could weather any storm.

OKAY. I DIDNT. I don’t know if it’s been confirmed that bruce is otherworld ben but i’m fairly confident he is and i’m losing it. bruce. i didn’t realise that meant HE’D DIED THE WAY HIS PARENTS HAD. LIKE SAME BUT DIFFERENT, I DIDNT REALISE THE BEN = BRUCE DEATH IMPLICATIONS UNTIL YOU WROTE PETER TELLING DICK ABOUT IT.

Benny was foreshadowing!! Benny is a counterpart to another guy that Peter knows in his world: Biggie. (he'll show up later in a Ned POV). Biggie and Benny are very similar, but in a way that made Peter wonder if Benny was a counterpart to someone that Biggie is related to- Benny is older, he was military, he also looks different enough that it took Peter a minute to see similarities. But they are, in fact, the same person/soul, and are counterparts to each other. Peter does not know this yet, but he has his suspicions.

that's because some counterparts do not look the same, and have different stories, etc, but are the same person. i'm reeeeaaaaaalllllyyyy stretching it here, but i wanted to play around with possibilities. Kind of like concept art? there can be multiple different versions of the same characters drawn down, one makes it to the movie that we see. but in another universe, a different design was chosen. same character, different design and concept. the timelines between worlds is shifted about 7 years behind for 1300 (Bats') compared to 1299 (Peter's), but that doesn't mean everything is perfectly matched up. there are faces in the crowd that are older or younger or look completely different, but they are there.

this includes Ben and Bruce - which, by the way, Benny's name being Ben is also foreshadowing that Ben is playing a role here: with Bruce. a gruff older guy named Ben takes Peter in to make sure he has a home and he worries about him and is very bad at hiding that fact, and then we look at Bruce and raise our eyebrows. (Ben really is haunting our narrative) Benny was a hint the whole time to counterparts not being the exact same across universes, and he's technically the first counterpart that Peter meets. he had gone into the burger shop before he met Nightwing, but it's not until later in the chapter do they talk to each other.

fundamentally i can see Ben and Bruce as the same person/character type (far more than i can see Jason as Ben, which I don't hate, but it doesn't appeal to me as much). Bruce has a more parent type relationship with Dick than Ben has with Richard but the relationship is not that far off. Circumstances changed and things are different but ultimately they are the same souls. Bruce and Ben advocate for responsibility to help other people with the power you have, they both are trying their best to raise a kid that needs a teacher/guiding hand to comfort them but also push them forward out of their grief, etc. and their stories revolve around gun violence. Ben died protecting Peter from a gunman which is very close to how Martha and Thomas died from a mugger. and i did, in fact, giggle when i wrote it down :3

This man is too overhated :/ I still think he was an amazing Bruce (and Batman), and I wish we had seen more of him. Dare I say, Jeremy Irons' Alfred is one of my favorite interpretations ever. Loved him in BvS. Specially scenes with him and Bruce.

Started going grey at 32

He and Alfred jog around the Manor property together for exercise

He’s a functional alcoholic but only in between his cases / big missions. Otherwise he’s 100% sober for peak physical performance.

The kind of Batman who beat up criminals for even looking at Robin, much less making a joke about hurting him.

Darker, grittier and more pessimistic even before he lost Robin. He didn’t trust anyone beyond Alfred, and it took years for him to warm up to Robin (Dick or Jason, depends on if you go off Snyder lol)

Every single inch of property and every cent he owns goes to Alfred immediately upon his death. This is an expectation, not a worse case scenario.

Most of his failsafes are a complex series of satellite uploads and then explosives. Soooooo many explosives under that lake.

Sustains on an insane amount of calories per day (see my protein post)

So big/massive that the Bane matchup in this universe was much more balanced (he didn’t get his back broken but absolutely got beaten up)

On that note: breaking his bones doesn’t stop him, it just makes him more angry (this is a man who pulled a knife out of his own rotator cuff to stab someone with)

GCPD doesn’t just fear him because they’re corrupt, they fear his brand (he has a bad habit of branding cops who betray innocents right in the face)

Once spent ten or so days pit fighting in the Narrows for intel and actually won minor fame as a brawler

Alfred has slapped him awake on more than one occasion so that Bruce can help move himself (he weighs too much for Alfred to even try moving)

Alfred never left him or the lake house because he made a promise to Martha that he would always watch over Bruce

Jim Gordon respects and fears him in equal amounts. He watched what happened after Robin’s death and just shook his head.

The acid burn on his shoulder is from the Joker taunting him for being too pretty after unmasking him and threatening to burn his face off.
