It was a rare, free period at Hogwarts, and students were taking advantage of the beautiful weather, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. James, however, was experiencing a different kind of neediness. He found himself walking around the grounds, his thoughts drifting to his girlfriend and the desire to be close to her. His eyes scanned the surroundings until they landed on a small, secluded corner, shielded from the main pathways.
A sly, mischievous smile spread across his face as his eyes landed on that secluded corner. It was a bit risky, but the allure of feeling her body against his, the need to be close to her despite the potential of getting caught, was too strong to resist.
She was sitting on the cool grass, enjoying the warmth of the sunshine on her skin, when she felt a familiar presence approach her. She looked up to find James wearing a mischievous grin on his handsome face. He wordlessly gestured to the secluded corner, and she followed his gaze, her face heating up as she realized what he had in mind.
She should’ve been concerned about the potential of being caught, but the look in his eyes, the way his voice held a hint of desire and mischief, all but silenced any protests she might have. She allowed him to lead her to the secluded corner, her heart pounding in her chest with a mixture of anticipation and excitement.
Once they were safely shielded by the foliage of the corner, he pulled her closer to him, his hands finding their way to her hips as he pressed her against the wall. His eyes darkened as he looked at her, and he leaned in to whisper in her ear. "You don’t know how badly I need you right now."
She felt a shiver run down her spine at his words, the heat of his breath against her skin, the tightening on her hips, all fanning the flames of her own desire for him. She closed her eyes for a moment, savoring the feel of his body pressed against hers, before looking up at him with a sly smile. "Do I even want to know why you’re feeling so... needy?" She teased.
A smirk tugged at his lips as he looked down at her, his gaze darkening even further with lust. "Perhaps it's the weather, perhaps it's the thrill of the danger," he murmured, his hands gently roaming the curves of her body, his fingers tracing the edge of her skirt. "Or perhaps it's just the fact that you're standing here, looking all beautiful and radiant, and I can't help but want to be as close to you as physically possible."
With a sudden, swift movement, he shifted her stance, making her legs spread wider. His body was pressed tightly against hers, his breath coming out in a low, strained pant as he leaned in to whisper in her ear once more. "You have no idea how much I want you right now," he growled, his hands moving to her legs, gently but firmly pushing her skirt up.
His hands continued to move up her thighs, his fingers gently caressing her skin as he hitched her skirt slightly higher. He kept his movements quick, his breath coming out in short, ragged puffs as his mind was focused on the main goal. Once he had her skirt pushed up just enough, he quickly fumbled with his own trousers, unbuttoning them and pulling them down just enough to allow him the access he desired.
His breath hitched for a moment as he realized she had no underwear on, his eyes widening in surprise and excitement. He let out a low, guttural growl, his hands gripping her hips even tighter as he pulled her body flush against his.
His desire for her was palpable, a burning need that coursed through his veins like fire. Without wasting another moment, he pressed himself against her, his body enveloping hers as he claimed her mouth in a rough, desperate kiss.
He felt a rush of heat and pleasure as he pressed himself against her, his body molded to hers in a perfect fit. With one swift movement, he was stretching her walls with his length.
She let out a soft gasp, her body arching slightly, her hands instinctively gripping his shoulders for support. The feel of him inside her was intense and overwhelming, making her head spin with a mix of pleasure and satisfaction. Despite the danger of being caught, her mind betrayed her, her body responding to his every touch and kiss with a fierce need of its own. She arched against him, her body meeting his with a fervor that matched his own.
She could feel the tension coiled within her, the need to let go and surrender completely to the sensations that were flooding her senses. The thought of getting caught was an afterthought, overshadowed by the overwhelming need to be as close to him as possible in this moment.
His movements were fast and urgent, his hands roaming over her body, seeking to touch and claim every inch of her. His kisses were fierce and possessive, his lips leaving a trail of heat on her skin. The sound of their gasps and moans were muted by the foliage around them, the risk of being caught adding an extra thrill to the whole experience.
Her mind was blank, consumed by the pleasure and the overwhelming need for him. She felt his body moving against hers, his breath hot and ragged on her neck, and all she could do was cling to him, her fingers digging into his shoulders as her body responded to his every touch.
The world outside the small corner faded away, their surroundings reducing to mere blurs as they lost themselves in each other. The urgency of their need and the excitement of being caught pushed them closer to what they both needed most.
Every touch, every kiss, every movement, was laced with a sense of urgency. It pushed his movements to the very end, his thrusts growing sloppier as her tiny whimpers seem to grow in his ear. With one last deep thrust, he filled her with the most reliving sigh coming from his lips. They stayed close for a moment, foreheads touching before he pulled out, quickly fixing their clothing back to normal.
They stood there for a moment, catching their breaths, hearts pounding in their chests. The sounds of the world around them slowly filtered back into their awareness. But in that moment, all they could think about was the aftermath of their quick, intense encounter.
He let out a ragged breath as he leaned back against the wall, his chest heaving from the exertion. He ran a hand through his messy hair, still trying to regain his bearings. He looked at her for a moment, a mix of amusement, satisfaction, and relief on his face. "That was..." he trailed off, unable to find the words to describe what had just happened between them.
“Risky.” She finished for him in a breathless laugh.
He chuckled at her blunt but accurate description. "That's one way to put it."
He pushed away from the wall, slowly stalking towards her with a wicked gleam in his eyes. He reached out a hand and gently traced her bottom lip with his thumb, his tone dripping with mischief.
"You know, I'm going to enjoy the thought of you walking through the rest of the day, knowing that you've got a piece of me dripping inside you every time you move..."

Arms
pairing : sirius black x reader
fandom : marauders/hp
synopsis : sirius realizes there's no place that feels more like home than your arms.
warnings : self depreciating thoughts, insecurity
a/n : felt like wandering into the realm of the marauders! do let me know if you want more :) inspired mildly by francesca by Hozier
sirius sat with james, while remus and peter sat across from them, both pouring liberal amounts of gravy onto their plates. james was also digging into an obnoxiously large amount of roast potatoes and chicken, barely pausing for a breath as he scarfed down the food.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
the great hall was not buzzing with the sound of students chattering as it usually did, and the sound remained at the decibel of a small hive of bees, while the professors murmured softly at the grand table, the munch of the many treats laid on the table for the christmas eve dinner.
sirius himself didn't feel that hungry, fork half heartedly poking at the beans on his plate. his eyes roamed around the hall, taking in the tiny mass of people at the other tables, and at dumbledore pulling mice out of his purple witches hat - his christmas special.
that very morning, his owl had dropped off a rather nasty howler from his darling mother, once again choosing to call him a colourful variety of insults and ending with her usual "disgrace and traitor to the black boodline" bullshit, followed by a chorus of "mixing with mudbloods and muggles" that had him clenching his fists in frustration.
then, his father orion had also decided to grace him with a scathing letter he burned the moment he received, but not before catching the words "shame to my bloodline", which once again had him sighing and rubbing the sore spot on his temples.
he had ignored it initially, focusing instead on the beautiful hand knitted scarf, golden watch and basket of sweets and treats he had received from euphemia and fleamont, with a small engraved gryffindor lion at the back of the watch.
he had also received a leather jacket from you, and homemade strawberry pies that you had made with help from the elves in the kitchen, and a set of silver rings to go with his pre existing ones.
remus had gifted him a muggle record called rumors from a band called Fleetwood Mac, that you had freaked out over and told him you'd listen to together because they were your favourite band ever and you'd be damned if he discovered your favourites on the album without you.
james himself had bought him bundles full off tricks and games from hogsmeade, and a framed picture of the marauders, along with a small replica of his own quidditch jersey because, "everyone has to know you're my number one fan pads!"
even marlene had gifted him a bunch of chocolate frogs, and mary had got him a postcard from venezuela and chocolate because her parents were visiting. lily had sent him muggle posters of his favorite bands as well.
but despite the merriment, the niggling insecurity of not being enough played on his mind the whole time, creeping like a shadow, insecurity slithering through the corridors of his mind, casting doubts where there once was light.
his mind was spiralling, as he looked at his plate, gulping as a sudden lump appeared in his throat. james was reading a letter from his mum to remus and peter, telling him about their travels in egypt, and peters mum had sent sweets for them to share at dinner.
oh how he longed for a mom who would write him sweet letters and send him sugary treats instead of venom coated words and flame bursting letters, a father who would teach him how to tie his tie properly for class, or tell him tales of his childhood.
sirius longed for a family to love and hold him always. and the closest he had to that was you and james.
as his thoughts turned to you, he was distracted by a sudden crash as the doors were flung open, as you rushed in, followed by the two friends with whom you sang as part of the hogwarts band, your red robes flaring as you rushed to find your spot beside him at the table.
with a pant, you flung yourself down, taking heaving breaths to calm your racing heart.
"well hello little miss" james said through a mouthful of peas, making you scrunch your nose in disapproval. "where were ya?" remus asked, piling on food onto your plate before it changed course.
"i was at band practice! we just lost track of time and then had to rush because we were so hungry!" you exclaimed, while your hands reached for sirius' under the table, taking his cold palm in yours, squeezing it tenderly to get the blood flow back in them, bringing it up for a quick peck to the knuckles before interlacing his fingers with yours.
sirius felt his heart physically slow down as he watched you, laughing a joke remus made, poking fun at james and messing around with peter. he watched as you cut the roasted potatoes into smaller chunks, dipping them in extra butter as you popped them into your mouth, and the way your eyes sparkled when you smiled.
he watched the way your hair fell, little strands framing your face as you brushed them off impatiently, all while leaning forward for a slice of a chocolate tart and icecream that had just appeared.
he watched as you put a slice of apple pie on his plate, topping it with a healthy dollop of cream, and passing it to him with a saccharine sweet smile and a murmur of "your favourite siri!" and he felt his heart flutter again.
what he didn't note was the crease in your eyebrow as you looked at your friend, the darl circles under his eyes, the slight stoop to his posture, the way his smile came out forced, lips pressed tight together with none of his gorgeous smile lines appearing around his eyes and lips.
he failed to note the way you drew a sharp breath when you felt the rough skin of his palms, coarse from all the times he dug his nails into the delicate skin to control the rage and hurt he felt at his family. the way your eyes softened as you looked at him, the way his lack of obnoxiously lewd jokes and quick wit made him look so vulnerable that it shattered your heart into a million pieces.
after the crackers were pulled and you had packed up a "grow your own warts" kit and many a butterbeer flavoured candy and a few white mice, he squeezed your hand again, gesturing towards the gryffindor common room, leaving the boys chatting with a few members of the ravenclaw quidditch team who had stayed back for christmas as well.
murmuring the password to the fat lady, you stumbled into the common room with sirius, who had his arm wrapped tightly around your waist. you sunk into your favourite armchair, and giggled when sirius fell into you with a muffled "thump"
even though you were 'just friends', you knew him better than anyone else and he knew it as well as you did.
the cozy red armchair with its plush cushioning looked as inviting as ever as he settled into it, legs haphazardly tossed over yours. affection was a major part of your relationship with sirius, having become fast friends since the first year at hogwarts.
ever since you were joint at the hip, bonding over a shared love of music, shared comfort in silence, shared trauma and a love for leather. you were as much a part of the marauders as any of the other boys, and sirius couldn't quite point to the time when you had become such fast friends.
he buried his head into the crook of your neck, inhaling deeply, absorbing the lilting notes of vanilla and shea, and fiddling with the loose strands of hair at the base of your neck. you hummed softly, some melody that had been playing on your mind, hands gently running through his dark locks, nails scratching softly at his scalp.
"you okay?" you asked, noting the tenseness of his shoulder muscles, and the still present frown between his eyebrows.
a non commital shrug was the only response.
worry began to seep into your mind, surprised at how your usually bubbly bestfriend was decidedly unbubbly.
"you don't seem okay babe" you stated, lifting his chin so he was looking at you.
his stormy gray eyes reflected doubt and insecurity dancing like lightning, casting shadows of uncertainty that loomed deep in his mind.
to your surprise, tears welled up in his eyes, mirroring raindrops, poignant with a tempest of emotions swirling within, creating a tumultuous scene of vulnerability and insecurity.
"oh sweetheart.." you cooed softly, shuffling so he was engulfed in your arms. you felt him bury his face deeper into your neck, clinging to you desperately as if he was worried you'd disappear into thin air.
"talk to me honey" you whispered, trying to coax him out of his hiding place.
just as he opened his mouth to speak, the door to the common room swung open and remus james and peter trooped in, followed by a few other gryffindors.
they stopped short, taking in the scene before them, their best mate in tears in the arms of the girl he loved who happened to be his best friend.
"mate are you-" james began, only to be cut off by a glare from remus.
"who don't you go up to our dorm y/n? I'll make sure no one goes up" remus said, staring at your pointedly, offering a soft smile to you when you nodded.
"i think we'll take you up on the offer, is that okay with you siri?" you asked, still softly stroking his hair.
he nodded against you, and followed you silently as you took his hand in yours and draped an arm around his torso, pressing a kiss to his temple as you led him up the winding staircase to the boys dormitory.
as soon as you were inside, you led him over to his bed, gently pushing him down so he was sitting, eyes looking unseeingly at the posters and polaroids that graced his headboard.
with worried eyes, you watched his gaze flicker back and forth, trying to fight back the tears that threatened to spill over.
"talk to me siri, im right here" you cooed, kneeling down in front of him, hands resting on his knees, drawing tiny circles with your pinky over the material of his robes.
"are you here with me love?" you asked, watching the black in his pupils darken as he spaced out. you watched as he jolted a little, looking at you almost alarmed, before the tears began to drip down his cheeks.
the first drop had you sprinting into his arms, wrapping your own tightly around him, kicking your shoes off as you squeezed him tight, knees resting in between his own, as he sobbed into your chest.
you'd seen him cry before, but never like this. broken sobs spilled from his salty lips, dampening the material of your robes, and small choked sounds escaped his lips, along with deep strangled breaths as he gripped your waist to keep himself grounded.
he cried for what seemed like hours while you whispered sweet reassurances to him, kissing his cheeks, his nose, his forehead and his hands, placing his hand on your chest to feel the steady beating of your heart.
"m' right here darling, let it all go, I've got you, i promise, I'll be right here to hold you honey" you whispered to him, rocking him back and forth like a child.
sirius gripped you even tighter, clinging to you as if you were his lifeline.
eventually, his sobs slowed, and he pulled back, eyes red and swollen and face glistening with tears. even when his hair was messy and he looked like a wreck, he looked ethereal.
"oh my beautiful boy" you said, kissing the top of his head. "tell me what you need" you said, interlacing your hands.
"you, just need you" he said, and the way his broke on the word 'you' shattered your heart into a million pieces.
"just give me one second darling, okay?" you said, walking into their bathroom and taking out a clean handkerchief from your pocket. you soaked it in some water, bringing it back to him, gently wiping his eyes and then his face with it, leaving kisses on every spot you cleaned for him, before taking a comb from his nightstand and slowly untangling the mess that his hair was.
sirius watched as you combed his hair, eyebrows furrowed in attention, and he swore his heart fell even more for you.
"d'ya think you can tell me what's wrong sugar?" you asked, biting you lip when he flashed you a smile at the nickname.
"yeah" he nodded, tugging you down so you were cuddled into his side. "oh wait!" you exclaimed, fishing some chocolate out your pocket and offering a piece.
he took it with a smile, letting it melt on his tongue as he looked at you.
you were now snuggled into his shoulder, your ankle intertwined with his as you lay across from him, hand gently holding his, as his other hand traced patterns on your hip.
"darling mother of mine sent me a howler this morning for a christmas present" he said with a dry chuckle.
"did she now?" you said, anger simmering deep in your bones. "yeah, and then sperm donator sent me a lovely letter as well" he said, chuckling a little at his own nickname for his father.
"mmhmm" you said, tracing his thumb.
"yeah, jus' caught me off guard" he mumbled
"you do know that whatever they say is not true, right?" you asked, looking straight into his eyes.
"yeah but- fuck, darling, it gets hard sometimes. sometimes I feel like I am a traitor and failure. sometimes i feel like I'm not worthy of being a human, I'm not worthy of being a friend, I'm not worthy of being loved i-" he broke off, looking at the ceiling.
"you are more than just a name, sirius. you are worthy of being loved. you are worthy of being human, and you are worthy enough to have friends who care about you" you said firmly, forcing him to look back at you.
"it just hurts me sometimes" he admitted
"i know sweetheart" you cooed again. you felt like no words you said were enough when it came to this topic.
"am i really worthy of being loved?" he asked suddenly, turning his face to look at you.
"of course" you said. the silence got louder for a moment. "siri?" you asked, voice lighter than honeycomb.
"theres something Ive been wanting to tell you" he got out in a rush. "ever since we met on the train on our way here, from the tender age of eleven, my heart silently declared its allegiance to you. each passing day has been a testament to a love that started as a whisper and has grown into a resounding echo in my soul. darling, with every sunrise and every moonlit night, my affection for you deepens, as if there's an infinite well within me, filling with the boundless affection i hold for you. you are the constant melody in the symphony of my existence, and i fall harder for you with each beat of my heart" he said, turning to look at you.
you felt tears welling in your own eyes, and it only felt right when you leaned forward, pressing your soft lips to his slightly chapped ones.
to him, you tasted of strawberries and cocoa, warm and sweet and oh so extravagant, a taste so luxurious he couldn't get enough of it.
to you, he tasted of cigarette smoke, mint and cocoa, an intoxicating taste you couldn't get enough of
his lips pressed deeper against yours, hand grasping your waist tightly, pulling you flush against him, as he poured all his love and passion out for you.
time stopped, the world slowed and your heartbeat dropped to the lowest of lows. relaxed. calm. loved.
finally, when your lungs began to burn from the lack of oxygen, you drew away, chests heaving as you looked at each other.
a slight flush lay on his cheeks, tinges of red littering his cheekbones. you could feel a heat thrumming in your own cheeks, and your heart felt like it was racing a million miles an hour.
"i don't know how long I've waited to say that to you" he breathed out, nuzzling his nose to yours.
"since our shared days at eleven, my heart has been a clandestine haven for the enchantment you brought into my life. you don't know how happy you made me with this. in the quiet dance of our days, my affection for you has blossomed into a resplendent garden, and with every sunrise, I find myself immersed deeper in the captivating allure of our love. you are the symphony that resonates in my heart, and i cherish you always" you told him, pressing a kiss to the swell of his cheekbone.
sirius felt his cheeks burn a deep red, and he tilted your lips up to press a searing kiss to them again.
"i love you" he gasped against your lips, drawing you closer to him.
"i love you too" you murmured against his lips moulding your body to him.
and as sirius lay there in your arms, pressing kisses as sweer and delicate as spun sugar against every part of your body but especially your lips, he realised there was no other place that felt more like home than your arms.
you.
you were his home.

Rewrite the stars
Pairing: Sirius black x reader
Summary: you and Sirius have been in love since you were mere teenagers, but life seems to have other plans for the both of you.
Warning: angst and heartbreak
AN: I hope this makes you cry because I cried writing it. This was supposed to be a song fic but I don’t know how I feel about making characters sing I feel so awkward writing it so this is what it ended up as.
Your life had been damned since the day you were born. At a young age you Sirius and regulus would sit in the garden under the stars as you rambled on about random things. “I think our lives are written out in the stars.” You said laying on your back. Sirius and regulus turned to you “how do you mean?” Sirius asked, regulus hummed along as he always does, he’s the more quiet out of the three of you. You smiled looking at the stars with so much adoration “we all have a destiny right? I believe it was written in the stars, and we just cant read it how we would if it was in a book” seven year old you said. “I think each star represents one person's destiny, that’s why some shine brighter than others”. Sirius smiled “do you think were written in the stars?” He asked, causing regulus to sit up, also wondering. You giggled “I don’t know silly, that’s kind of the point.” You said, “but, i like to think we are” you said pointing to the brightly shining row of three stars. Two closer together than the other.
Now ten years later you sat alone at the end of the slytherin table, body rigid, just as anyone’s would be these days. But for you especially, you were terrified, and the only person who could bring you out of that headspace was sitting across the room with his longtime group of friends. You stared at him, the light in his eyes made you envious, angry that your eyes no longer shone like that. But it made you happy that he got out, out of this life. At least one of you had. You and regulus hadn’t been able to, now your parents are forcing you into a marriage. You and regulus are best friends with no romantic feelings for eachother whatsoever. But your parents had not one care and had been best friends with his parents since they were young and in hogwarts themselves. The deal had been set in stone some before you were born. Except it was supposed to be with Sirius. “Your staring again” You hadn’t noticed when regulus had sat down but you were happy he broke your trance before you had the chance to humiliate yourself yet again.
“Have i ever told you how grateful i am for you” you joked, though your tone had nothing humorous about it. He filled his plate not even looking up at you “not nearly enough as you should, but yes” he answered. You huffed out a laugh “yeah well i am” regulus hummed, like he did since you were kids. You never really minded that he was quiet, more so because you were too but also because it left you alone with your thoughts. “You should eat, you’ve been doing a lot less of that lately” he said pushing a plate towards you. You sighed looking down at the plate of food you weren’t even aware he prepared. You ate a little over half of the food before you felt eyes on you.
immediately you knew where it was coming from. You looked across the room, meeting eyes with this brown ones your heart longed to wake up every morning to. You longed to be with him so bad it made your chest hurt physically. The only thing that had kept you going so far were the meetings you had in a room you didn’t know existed until Sirius caught you walking alone in the halls and dragged you to it.
He nodded his head slightly, and you nodded back. That was the confirmation that you’d meet tonight after dinner. You broke eye contact with him and looked to the darke he aired curly head in front of you who’s head was down as he read his book while eating. “Can you cover for me again?” You asked. His eyes looked up at you from his heads lowered position. Rolling his eyes he nodded “just don’t stay out as late again” he said. You smiled “regulus black you are a gift sent straight from heaven” you joked before finishing your food.
Now it’s around 11:00 at night and you and regulars were finishing your rounds around the school. Somehow (very obvious how) you both had been elected as prefects. So you had a little more freedom after the other kids went to bed. You not to subtly parted from regulus, when you reached the corridor that lead to the room you and Sirius had been meeting in.
When you arrived he was already there in all of his glory. He was sat with his head down and brown locks covered his face. You guessed he hadn’t heard you come in because hes head remained down. “Siri?” You spoke, his head immediately shot up, his brown eyes slightly wide. “Are you okay?” You asked, he nodded standing up to walk toward you. “I’m fine, love” he confirmed. Your heart soared at the nickname.
he grabbed your hand softly and just held it examining your face with soft eyes. “I- i have a crazy, probably very idiotic idea.” He murmured, you giggled “you have a lot of those” you joked lightly, “i know i do” he laughed but his expression quickly grew serious “But i want you to hear me out”
the air in the room grew tense, “Sirius what are you on about?” You asked, growing worried. There were very few scenarios where Sirius was actually serious ‘Ironic’. Worry etched onto your face, and Sirius saw that. He leaned in to kiss your forehead bringing his hands to hold the back of your head. His lips were soft and gentle as always. He pulled away but the tip of his nose was still grazing your hairline “come live at the potters with me” he said. Your heart dropped, you pulled away to see if he was toying with you. He wasn’t, his expression mirrored determination. “You must be joking” you muttered, still not believing the words that slipped through his soft lips. He shook his head “i'm not”.
you pulled away completely, turning away from him while running a hand through your hair, your heart raced with anxiety at the mere thought of it. Puting all of these people in danger. “Sirius, that is absolutely insane, even for you. I mean you can't possibly have thought this through” you stressed. He rushed toward you and quickly but gently turned you face him again. “I have i swear” he defended. You shook your head “you cant have. All of the people that would endanger. All of your friends, regulus, you, me?” You listed. “I’ve talked to James and his parents, love they miss you. I miss you” he begged. You frowned tears filling your eyes “and I you, but you know the lengths my parents will go to keep me under their control, and regulus, i can't just leave him.”
“We can bring him too” you laughed incredulously at his statement. “You and regulus have barely spoken a word to each other since you left home” you stated. A silence covered the room like a blanket, both of you not sure what to say “i would do… anything… to have you back” he murmured, his eyes were glossy and full of tears. “I would too, but i guess we weren’t written in the stars” you mumbled, not trusting your voice to speak at full volume.
At that moment you could see recognition and hurt flash in his eyes. The reminder of that night all that time ago, when he’d asked you if the two of you were written in the stars. So much had changed since then and you wasn’t sure when it all started and you hated that it had to be this way but you had to protect him.
Sirius then dropped down to his knees, grabbing bit of your hands “Y/n please. I am begging you, come with me. We can protect each other, we’ll run away and hide” his voice shook as tears flowed freely down his face. You held back a sob, tears clouded your vision and all you could see was a muddy outline of him. “There is not a place in this planet that they wouldn’t find me, if I go I’m a danger to you all and I won’t let that happen.” You cried, Sirius dropped his head against your lower stomach and cried, you felt his tears soaking your sock.
You joined him on your knees resting your head on his shoulder, and he rested his on yours. “There is nothing I want more than to spend the rest of my life with you. To have children and watch them grow up. To see them off to Hogwarts every year. Nothing.” You whispered broken.
“But we can’t” Sirius finished for you, you nodded “but we can’t” you repeated almost inaudibly. After a while of sitting in each other's embrace Sirius lifted his head from your shoulder, causing you to lift yours. You took in his broken expression. red eyes, rosy cheeks and nose, and you were sure he was doing the same to you. “Kiss me, before we part ways Sirius please” you begged, you would’ve felt pathetic begging for anyone else but Sirius was different. You were meant to be, just maybe not in this life.
He gently placed his hands on your cheeks, thumbs rubbing your skin “are you sure?” He asked. You nodded frantically, “yes just please” your tone pleaded. He nodded with a soft smile, he began to lean in and your breath hitched, you could feel your body tingling from excitement and desire. You were sure your cheeks were red from how hot your face felt. When his lips met yours butterflies erupted in your stomach. His lips were soft and you could taste hints of honey from the chapstick he wore all the time. Your lips moved in unison almost like a practiced routine. Your hands found his hair and the kiss deepened, nothing harsh you just poured your hearts into this one kiss. You pulled away, feeling your chest tightening from the lack of breath.
You both breathed heavily in efforts to catch your breath, your eyes eventually met, and the air released all tension. “I’m glad we did that,” he whispered. “Me too,” you replied with a smile.
“When this war is over and your parents are gone, I’m gonna marry you” he said. You smiled sadly, you both knew the possibility of the good winning the war were slim and your parents dying were even slimmer but it wouldn’t stop you from keeping up hope. “I should go” you forced yourself to say. Sirius frowned. He knew that this was probably your last spontaneous meeting and he wasn’t ready to watch you walk away yet but in all honesty he wouldn’t ever be ready. So he nodded “okay” he said, he didn’t fight or resist and you thanked the heavens above because is he had you weren’t sure you would’ve left. “I love you Sirius black” your voice broke. “And I you y/n l/n”

Aleksander felt a strange mixture of warmth and discomfort every time he looked at Y/N. Ever since she had arrived at the Little Palace, he had found himself noticing her in a way he had never noticed anyone before. It was annoying, how she seemed to always pop up in his mind when he least expected it.
He tried to ignore the feelings, telling himself that they were nothing important, just a fleeting attraction. He was the Darkling, after all, and he couldn't afford to be distracted by such petty feelings.
But no matter how much he tried to ignore it, the feeling lingered on, a constant presence in his mind that he couldn't quite shake off. He found himself thinking about her when he should have been focused on leading his armies or strategizing for their next move. He found himself watching her during council meetings, his eyes drawn to her figure and her sharp eyes.
He tried to convince himself that it was simply a matter of admiration. She was young and talented, after all, and it was natural to be impressed by her skills and potential. But somewhere inside him, he knew that there was something more to it. He found himself drawn to her in ways that were deeply disconcerting. He felt a magnetic pull towards her, a feeling of longing that he couldn't seem to shake.
And as the weeks went by, he found himself growing increasingly frustrated with his own feelings. He was the Darkling, leader of the Second Army, and the most powerful man in Ravka. He had to be above such frivolous emotions, above such unnecessary distractions. He couldn't risk letting emotion cloud his judgment, not when the fate of their war hung in the balance.
So he tried to push the feelings aside, to ignore the thoughts that kept bubbling up in his mind. He told himself that she was just a grisha, one of many under his command, and that she held no more importance to him than any other soldier of the Second Army.
But no matter how hard he tried to dismiss her from his mind, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something special about her. He had never met anyone quite like her before, and her quiet determination and resilience were intoxicating.
He found himself noticing the little things about her - the way she spoke, the way she smiled, the way she carried herself. He admired her passion for learning and her quick mind, and he adored her loyalty and her honesty.
He often found himself drawn to watch her during training sessions, his eyes following her every movement as she moved with confidence and grace. He admired her skill and her dedication, and he found her infectious optimism a refreshing change from the constant seriousness that permeated the Palace and the Second Army as a whole.
And then there were the moments when they were alone. The times when their conversations grew longer and more intimate, when they shared secrets that they dared not tell anyone else. These were moments that he secretly cherished, moments where he felt closer to her than he had ever felt with anyone else.
He realized that this growing attraction to her was a liability. He was the Darkling, the general of Ravkan Army and the Second Army, the most powerful grisha in all of Ravka. And love is weakness. Love is a liability. Love is the worst possible thing to have in the middle of a war.
He found himself torn between his growing affection for her and his duty to his country and his army. He couldn't let himself be distracted by her, no matter how much he wanted to. He knew that love could lead to recklessness and careless decisions, and he couldn't have even the slightest hint of weakness in his character.
The more he tried to resist his feelings, the stronger they seemed to become. He found himself dreaming of her at night, imagining what it would be like to hold her in his arms and feel her soft skin against his.
He woke up in cold sweats, her name on his lips, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he was losing control. He tried to convince himself that he was just lonely, that he was just missing human companionship, but he knew deep down that those were just excuses.
In his darkest moments, he could almost admit to himself that he was in love with her, that he was falling for her hard and fast. He had never felt this way about anyone, and it scared him to the core. He had always seen love as a weakness, and to feel it now, to feel it for her, was both exhilarating and terrifying.
And the thought of admitting his feelings, to himself and to her, felt like too much to bear. He couldn't imagine what she'd say, what she'd think of him, of the Darkling, the scariest and most notorious grisha general in all of Ravka. She would probably laugh in his face, or worse, she would look at him with disgust.
The truth was that he didn't deserve her. He was too dark, too filled with darkness and shadows that would surely taint her light. She was too innocent and pure to be dragged into his world of violence and darkness. And yet, despite all his logical thoughts and his rational mind, he couldn't help but feel drawn to her, like a moth to a flame.
As Aleksander watched her train, he felt his heart rate increase. He'd been feeling this way lately whenever he saw her, like he was some kind of lovesick schoolboy. It was ridiculous, and he hated it. He knew that the only way to combat it was to distance himself from her, to create a professional and distant relationship between them rather than the more affectionate bond they had now.
He took a deep breath and walked towards her, keeping his expression neutral. "Y/N." He said quietly, his voice betraying none of his tumultuous emotional state.
She was mid cheer when she turned to him, her hands slightly in the air from her celebrations before they dropped to her sides. “General Kirigan.”
He felt a familiar jolt of admiration at the sight of her cheerful smile and her gleaming eyes, but he quickly tamped it down. He couldn't let himself get distracted by her charms again, not when there was so much at stake.
"I was hoping to discuss some matters with you. Perhaps somewhere more private?" He said, gesturing towards the direction of his office. His voice was cool and composed, betraying none of the emotions that were raging inside him.
She tried not to show her confusion, but she couldn’t help but be a bit shocked in the slightest. “Yeah, yeah. Did I do something, sir?”
He shook his head slightly, his expression giving nothing away. "No, not at all.” He assured her in a low and measured voice. "It's just a matter of some importance, and it's best discussed in private."
He gestured for her to follow as he turned and marched toward his office, his steps confident and steady. He could feel her eyes on his back, and it took everything in him to resist the urge to turn around and look at her. He wanted to watch the way her steps swayed and the way her hair bounced around her shoulders as she moved.
She hadn’t expected his steps to be so quick, and she found herself struggling a bit not to fall behind. During their short walk, she couldn’t help but try to come up with all different types of scenarios in her head.
He could sense her struggle to keep up, but he didn't slow down. He needed to get to his office quickly, before he lost his nerve and changed his mind about confronting her with his idea. As they approached the door to his office, he held out his hand to open the door, waving her in first.
She walked inside, a room that she had surprisingly never been in before. Her eyes scanned the small decorations, the hardwood of the desk, and small little hints of him that weren’t obvious to just a normal passing eye.
As he shut the door behind her and she looked around his office, he couldn't help but feel a wave of vulnerability wash over him. She was in his private space, surrounded by his things and his scent. The thought made him slightly tense, although he worked hard to hide it.
He crossed to his desk and stood behind it, leaning his hands against the edge of the desk and leaning forward slightly. His expression was neutral, his voice still level as he spoke. "I have a proposition for you, Y/N."
“A proposition, sir?” She asked curiously, her brows ever so slightly furrowing.
He took a moment to collect his thoughts, trying to keep his mind from straying to the way her eyes crinkled when she frowned. "Yes. One that I think will benefit us both.” He said, his tone still coolly professional.
“I’m listening…”
He studied her for a moment, taking in the sight of her standing in front of him, her expression slightly confused and curious. He knew he should have felt in control of the situation, like a man of power making a proposition to a subordinate. But instead, he felt uneasy, as if he was the one being offered something, as if he was the one who lacked power in this situation.
He took a deep breath, then spoke. "I've noticed your talent, Y/N. Your skill with amplifiers, your dedication..." He paused for a moment, before continuing in a low and measured voice. "You're valuable to the Second Army and to Ravka as a whole. And I have an offer that I think would be very beneficial to both of us."
As he spoke to her, he could feel his heart pounding against his chest, as his mind raced with thoughts of what he was about to propose. He couldn't let her see that he was nervous, though. He couldn't let her see that she affected him to such an extent.
He continued in that cool and measured tone, trying to keep his true feelings from seeping into his words. "I want you to become one of my personal grisha. A member of my elite guard, my person circle. The jobs are better, and you'll have access to other benefits as well."
Her eyes widened in surprise. “Sir, I… thank you.” She spoke softly, gratitude swimming within her blood.
He felt a pang of guilt at the way her eyes had widened, as if she felt grateful to be offered this. He quickly buried the feeling, reminding himself that he was doing this because it was practical, because it was tactical. He couldn't let her know that deep down, he was doing this because he wanted her nearby all the time.
"There are a few... conditions of acceptance.” He added, his voice low and serious. "As expected.” He added internally, mentally berating himself for being such a fool.
"You'll need to follow my orders without question, without hesitation, and with complete obedience.” He continued, trying to ignore the growing lump in his throat.
“I expected as much, sir. I thank you for this opportunity.” Her voice was soft, genuine. She couldn’t believe that she was even offered this.
His chest tightened at her response. He couldn't believe that she was actually accepting his proposition. A part of him yearned to tell her that there was a selfish reason behind the proposition, that it was partially for his own selfish desires, not just for the sake of Ravka. But he couldn't admit that. Not now. Not ever.
"You'll also need to be available whenever I need you. Be it for missions or for training or for other duties, you'll be at my side." His tone was firm as he spoke, his eyes never leaving hers.
“I understand.” She gave the slightest nod.
He studied her closely, taking in the way her eyes held his gaze, the way her lips twitched ever so slightly as she nodded. He felt a strange, confusing mix of emotions welling up in his chest, but he quickly pushed them down. “There's one more condition," he said, his voice dropping even lower.
Her head tilted slightly to the right. She had heard of a few soldiers being chosen for this, but never once heard of any more conditions than the ones he had already listed, and she couldn’t help but wonder why this seemed different.
He watched her carefully, waiting to see if she'd still be willing to accept with this final condition. He knew it was selfish, but he couldn't help it. He couldn't stop himself from wanting her by his side, from wanting her close, from wanting to keep her safe. He couldn't stop himself from wanting her for himself.
He wanted to say so much more. He wanted to tell her that he was doing this because he was selfish, because he didn't want to be distracted by his feelings. Because he wanted her beside him, always. That he was scared of the way she affected him, of the way his heart pounded when he saw her smile, of the way his chest felt tight whenever she was in danger. He wanted her there, safe and by his side, where he could hear her voice and see her face all the time. Where he could touch her, hold her, feel her warmth, smell her scent.
But he didn't say any of those things, of course. He couldn't. He was the Darkling, not some simpering, lovesick fool. He was the Darkling, feared and powerful, not some puppy who followed a girl around. He had to suppress all those feelings, no matter how much they felt like they were suffocating him.
"You will live in my wing from now on. You'll have your own room with a private bathroom, of course, but you're expected to be available to me day and night.” He said, his tone firm and authoritative, but his heart was racing beneath his chest. He could feel the tension between them, thick and electric, and he knew he was crossing a line by suggesting this.
The thought of her moving out of her shared room with her friends saddened her a bit, but she knew that this was one of the greatest opportunities that rarely showed up. After a moment of processing, she nodded.
He watched her, his heart hammering against his chest. He couldn't believe he had actually said it, that he had actually asked her to move into his wing of the Little Palace. It was reckless and selfish and foolish and probably a thousand other negative words. He knew that he was only setting himself up for more heartache by making her constantly present in his life, but he couldn't resist the idea of her being there, within arm's reach at all times.
The first few days of her being part of his personal guard were a strange time for him. He found himself both elated and uneasy at the constant presence of her in his quarters. On one hand, he was over the moon about having her near him, in his space, seeing her every day. On the other hand, he found himself feeling more vulnerable and exposed than ever before. Being constantly alone with her, being constantly around her, made it harder and harder to keep his feelings hidden.
He found himself constantly battling with himself, trying to keep his interactions with her as strictly professional as possible. At the same time, he wanted to be closer to her, to touch her, to feel her hands on his arms as they trained. He found himself staring at her more often than he cared to admit, watching her every move with a growing longing in his heart.
During training, he found himself struggling to focus on anything other than her. He was grateful for the dark clothes that covered his body, as it allowed him to hide his reactions to her presence, to the sound of her voice, to the sight of her training. He found himself constantly reminding himself that he had to maintain a strictly professional relationship with her, even though every fiber of his being urged him to cross the line into something more.
Their training sessions became a sort of torture for him, as he watched her moving with incredible grace and accuracy, her movements sharp and precise. He found himself watching with fascination as she dodged and moved and attacked, his eyes following her movements with hunger and affection. But he couldn't let her see him looking at her that way, so he masked his adoration with a sharp command or a cold comment, pretending like he was just checking on her technique.
She, however, just felt like she was disappointing him. She was certain that given some more time, he would resent her and his decision to even give her such an opportunity. She worked hard, endlessly dawn to dusk, but still, she didn’t feel as if it were enough.
She backed up a few steps when the training session came to a close, fiddling with the straps of her specially made gloves that helped her powers reach further.
He watched her fiddling with her gloves, his eyes tracing the movements of her delicate fingers, his chest tightening with longing. He knew that she was talented and dedicated, and yet she doubted herself. He wanted to tell her that she was more than enough, that she had more than proven her worth to the Second Army. But he couldn't. He had to maintain his cold, impersonal demeanor, even though every fiber of his being wanted to pull her into his arms.
He took a deep breath, clearing his thoughts from his head before speaking. "You're improving." He said, his voice low and measured, even though he wanted to say so much more. He wanted to tell her he was impressed with her progress, that she was amazing, that she was perfect. But he couldn't. He could only give her a subtle compliment, hidden behind a mask of disinterested authority.
Her head slowly turned over to him, a slight sweat to her brow as her lips parted to take slow, measured breaths. “I’m by far the longest one to improve. I’m failing, you can say it.”
His heart dropped at her words. He could hear the doubt and insecurity in her voice, hear the way she tried to hide her vulnerabilities behind casual nonchalance, and he felt a deep urge to tell her that she was anything but a failure. He wanted to assure her that she was more talented and capable than most grisha he'd encountered, that she was a valuable asset to the Second Army. But again, he couldn't. He had to maintain his façade of cold detachment.
She undid the straps to the gloves and took them off by the fingers before clasping them both into a hand, looking down at them in thought.
He took a step forward, his voice low and measured. "You're too hard on yourself. You've improved quickly, but there's always room for improvement. Don't compare yourself to others, only compare yourself to your previous performance. You're improving, don't doubt that.”
She glanced outside, noticing how it was getting dark. “I better rest, continue at dawn.”
He watched as she looked outside, knowing she was right. It was getting dark, and they needed their rest to stay strong for their next mission. He felt a sharp pang of longing in his chest as she spoke of continuing in the morning, a longing to spend more time with her, to talk with her and be near her.
Her steps were slow and measured as she moved to walk past him and towards the exit of the room.
He watched her move past him, every step feeling like a blow to his heart. He wanted to reach out, to touch her, to pull her back and hold her close, but he couldn't. He stood there, frozen, feeling like a man being torn apart.
As she reached the exit, he couldn't resist calling out to her, his voice a sharp and harsh command, though full of affection deep down. "Wait."
Her head snapped in his direction, a look of confusion etched on her features.
He took a deep breath, his mind racing with a mix of emotions, of longing and need and desire. He knew he shouldn't cross the line, but he wanted to feel her presence for just a moment more, even just for a minute. He took a step towards her, his expression still controlled, despite everything going on inside him. "Just... stay for a moment.” He said, his voice softer than before, his heart pounding against his chest.
He watched her carefully, seeing the confusion in her eyes, but he saw underneath it, a glimpse of understanding, of the possibility that she felt the same way too. His heart hammered against his chest as he waited for her response, hoping beyond hope that she'd accept, that she'd stay with him, atleast for just one more moment.
“Okay.” She whispered, letting her hands fall to her sides.
He felt a wave of relief wash over him at her small, soft word, "okay". Her quiet acceptance felt like a weight being lifted off his chest, and he felt a surge of emotions, a mix of relief, longing, and adoration. He wanted to reach out, to touch her, to take her hand in his, to pull her closer and hold her tight. But he didn't. He stayed where he was, trying to keep his voice steady and calm.
"Come here.” He said softly, gesturing for her to come closer to him. He couldn't take it anymore, he had to feel her presence, even if it was for just a moment longer.
Her brows furrowed but she took two small steps closer.
As she took those two small steps closer to him, he couldn't resist taking a step towards her as well, closing the gap between them slightly. He felt his heart pounding against his chest, his hands tightening into fists to stop himself from reaching out and pulling her into his arms. He felt like he was standing on the edge of a cliff, ready to jump off and let his emotions carry him.
"Closer.” He whispered, his voice hushed and filled with longing. He wanted her closer, as close as possible, to feel her warmth and hear her soft breath and smell her sweet scent.
“Sir, if I walk any closer we’ll be pressed up together.” She whispered.
His heart skipped a beat as she acknowledged the close distance they'd be standing at if she moved closer, his chest filling with longing and adoration. He wanted to feel her against him, to feel her heat against his own, but he couldn't. He knew he couldn't cross that line, even if he was desperate for it. "I know.” He whispered, his voice filled with a mix of longing and restraint.
He wanted to say more, to tell her how much he wanted her closer, how much he yearned to touch her, to pull her into his arms and hold her tight. But he couldn't. He couldn't cross that line, not here, not now, not with her. But he couldn't resist a slight step towards her, closing the small gap between them a little bit more, his chest almost touching hers.
He felt her warmth, her presence, her breath brushing lightly against him, and it was all he could do to resist the overwhelming urge to wrap his arms around her and pull her closer, to press his body against hers and feel her in his embrace. It was a torturous thing, standing this close to her, feeling her body so near his, having her so close.
His eyes flitted from hers to her lips, his thoughts filled with longing and need and desire. He felt a deep ache in his chest at the proximity and intensity of his feelings, of her presence. He wanted so badly to close the small remaining gap between them, to reach out and touch her, to feel her soft skin against his fingertips.
He swallowed hard, his throat dry and his mind clouded with yearning and desire. He was so close, so close to crossing that line, but he couldn't, no matter how much he wanted to. He took a small step back, trying to create some distance between them, but it was like trying to fight a raging inferno with a single drop of water. The flames of his need for her were too strong, too intense to be put out by something so trivial as a slight step back.
He felt as if he was teetering on the edge of a cliff, his heart pounding against his chest, yearning for the feel of her body against his, for the warmth of her skin and the softness of her breath. He wanted, no, he needed to reach out and touch her, to pull her into his arms and hold her tight, to feel her softness and warmth against him, to feel her breath mingling with his, to feel the beat of her heart against his chest and hear the soft sounds of her breathing.
He took a deep breath, composing himself and trying to push back the overwhelming feelings that threatened to consume him. He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to put his feelings aside and act as he should. He looked at her, his expression schooled back to his usual cold and detached mask, not letting her see the turmoil within him. "You may go, rest now. Tomorrow will be a tiring day." He said, his voice stern and distant.
Confusion and shock carried through her body in a tidal wave, he brought her so close to only dismiss her. She took another glance at him before making her exit, knowing better than to question the general.
He watched her leave, his heart aching and his mind racing with guilt and longing. He cursed himself internally for pushing her away, for being unable to suppress his emotions, for letting his longing for her take over his mind and cloud his judgment. He cursed himself for being weak, for being a coward, for not being able to be the General he was supposed to be and ignore the feelings that were slowly consuming him.
He stood there, alone in the room, feeling the weight of his loneliness and longing heavy on his shoulders. He wanted to go after her, to apologize and pull her back into his arms, to hold her close and confess his feelings. But he knew he couldn't, no, he wouldn't. He couldn't let himself be that weak, to let his emotions run wild and compromise his responsibilities, his duty, his role as the General of the Second Army.

Delicate Part I
sirius black x reader - delicate part i
link to part ii
word count: 1.5k
summary: this is part i of a sirius black x ravenclaw!reader series. a slow burn romance with platonic remus x reader and maybe some flirtatious remus x reader if you squint a lot lol
warnings: y/n is from ravenclaw (not sure if that’s even a needed warning) so sorry if that’s not your house
a/n: does young remus have glasses?? i always picture him with them so… anyways i hope you enjoy!!!!
The weather was perfect for a Quidditch match—crisp and clear, with a bright sun hanging lazily in the sky. The students of Hogwarts were buzzing with excitement as they filled the stands around the pitch, the air thick with anticipation. It was Gryffindor vs. Slytherin, and as usual, the rivalry was as fierce as ever. y/n y/l/n, perched in the Gryffindor section, was one of the few who wasn’t fully invested in the outcome.
Of course, she was a Ravenclaw, which meant she didn’t exactly hate Slytherin the way many of the Gryffindors did, but she didn’t exactly like them either. Quidditch, for y/n, was less about the house competition and more about the game itself. The fast pace, the sharp movements, the high stakes.
“I swear, I’m going to break my neck with all this flipping around,” Remus said, sitting beside her in the stands, adjusting his glasses as he leaned forward, his eyes tracking the players on the pitch.
y/n laughed, nudging him with her elbow. “You don’t have to copy the broom movements with your head, Remus.”
Remus smirked, but his attention was still fixed on the players below. He and y/n had been friends since their first year at Hogwarts, and over the years, they’d come to have a natural rhythm. Remus was thoughtful, measured, while y/n was... well, less careful. She often followed her whims, but Remus never judged. He understood her, and in turn, she’d always had his back.
“So, how are your Quidditch predictions going?” Remus asked with a teasing grin, a slight glint of amusement in his eyes.
y/n shifted in her seat, pulling her scarf a little tighter around her neck. “I’m not exactly in the business of predictions,” she replied. “But I’d say Gryffindor’s keeper looks like he’s about to have a nervous breakdown.”
Remus raised an eyebrow. “Sirius isn’t playing, is he?”
y/n turned her head just in time to catch the flash of black hair in the distance. Sirius Black. Standing near the Gryffindor bench, a leather jacket hanging carelessly over his shoulder, chatting with James Potter, looking every bit the confident troublemaker he always was.
“No,” y/n replied quickly, perhaps a little too quickly, “he’s just... watching.”
“Wonder why…” Remus mused.
Before she could say anything else, the sound of the crowd roared in approval as the match began. y/n turned her attention back to the pitch just as the teams took off. The game was fast, as expected. Broomsticks zipped through the air in all directions, and the tension in the stands was palpable. y/n watched as the players darted around, each one more agile than the next, the game unfolding in a swirl of color and motion.
It was only a matter of moments before her eyes, despite herself, found their way back to Sirius. He was standing a little further down, not far from the Gryffindor team. She’d always known him as the charming, rebellious Gryffindor whose every movement seemed to demand attention, but today, there was something different in the way he stood—more contemplative, almost... absent. He looked deep in thought, his eyes far from the action on the field, his focus instead drawn elsewhere.
For a brief moment, their gazes locked across the stands.
There was an intensity in his eyes, something that felt... more than just passing interest. Then, just as quickly, he gave her a cheeky grin, his eyes narrowing with the sort of mischief she’d come to expect from him. He shot her a wink and turned back toward the match, leaning slightly forward on the railing as if to shout something to his teammates.
y/n’s heart stammered in her chest, and she quickly turned away, trying to focus on the game again.
Sirius Black was not her type. He cared for very few and swooned every girl he came across— he would even try McGonagall if he had the chance. The few occasions they had spoken were purely because of his friendship with Remus. But that look, that smile—it lingered far longer than she liked to admit.
“Everything okay?” Remus asked, his voice full of innocent concern.
y/n nodded quickly, a little too quickly. “Yeah. Fine. I’m just... getting distracted.”
She realized that she wasn’t talking about the match anymore.

The rest of the match passed in a blur. Gryffindor won, of course—James Potter’s Seeker skills were, as always, nearly legendary—but y/n didn’t feel the usual rush of excitement she normally would. Her thoughts kept returning to Sirius, to that brief connection they’d shared across the stands. It wasn’t like her to overthink things, but she couldn’t help it. She tried to push the thoughts aside, but they lingered, stubborn and persistent.
When the final whistle blew and the stands erupted into cheers, y/n stood up, stretching her legs.
“Another victory for Gryffindor,” Remus said dryly, his voice a little less animated than usual. As much as he was happy for his friends, he wasn’t as invested in Quidditch as most of the school was.
y/n glanced down at him, “Not a big supporter of your friends?”
“No,” Remus said with a laugh. “I just don’t get the point of screaming your head off for people you don’t know.”
y/n smiled and nudged him. “You’re such a stick in the mud sometimes.”
Remus raised an eyebrow. “Someone has to be. You’re never serious about anything.”
She led him out of the stands to start their walk back to the school, but Remus made her stop to wait for his friends. Despite his lack of interest in the game, he was always eager to congratulate them for a victory.
As they waited near the team tents, a voice rang out above the noise of the crowd.
“y/l/n!” Sirius Black’s voice, sharp and clear, cut through the chatter like a knife.
y/n’s stomach dropped, it wasn’t from embarrassment. It was something different—something she couldn’t quite place. She turned around slowly to find him making his way toward them through the thinning crowd. His black hair was a bit windblown, and he had a grin plastered across his face, looking for all the world like he’d just won the game himself.
“What is it, Black?” y/n asked, trying to sound nonchalant, even though she felt awkward after their… moment.
Sirius stopped just in front of her, his eyes scanning her face, a glint of amusement in his dark gaze. “Just thought I’d pop over so you can give me your congratulations.”
y/n rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the smile that tugged at her lips. “Your team beat Slytherin without you even playing.”
“Ah, but you see,” Sirius said, his grin widening, “They wouldn’t have won without my grand reputation to scare the other team away.”
“Uh-huh,” y/n said, trying to hide her smile behind a scoff.
Sirius’s grin softened just slightly, but before he could say another word Remus clapped him on the back.
“Congrats to Gryffindor once again!” He smiled as he wrapped an arm around his friend’s shoulders.
“Save it for James,” Sirius said, “he did most of the work.” He glanced at y/n before quickly adding, “I mean I helped too of course,” with a smirk.
Remus laughed at the absurdity and withdrew his arm. “Will there be a celebration?”
Sirius adjusted his stance to a slightly more confident one, “Of course. I thought you might be interested in joining us too,” he looked at her, his voice light but edged with something more. “You know, to show that you’re not always too busy with your potion studies.”
y/n glanced at Remus, who was searching the remaining crowd for James. She hesitated.
It was tempting. Very tempting. But she had her studies to attend to. And then, there was always that lingering hesitation when it came to Sirius Black.
“I’m busy, thanks,” y/n said with a shrug, though part of her wished she wasn’t.
Sirius raised an eyebrow, clearly not satisfied with her answer. “Right,” his posture changed ever so slightly, “well, next time then. You’re not always going to be too busy to have a bit of fun, are you?”
Before y/n could respond, James joined their little group with a smile so big you think this was his first Slytherin defeat. He pulled Sirius away into a conversation that Remus soon joined.
y/n said a quick goodbye to Remus and headed towards the school, feeling the strange sense of disorientation that often followed when Remus was dragged away by his other friends.
