Clanmew Masterpost

Clanmew is a constructed language made for Warrior Cats that I, @bonefall, run with my buddy @troutfur! I make the vocab and he does the grammar. I hope that this post will become a good, central place to keep links to everything we've done so far.

CURRENT VERSION: 1.0 LAST UPDATE: 6/3/2023

Clanmew is an OSV-order language, made with the sounds cats make in mind. "Base Clanmew" is built around the Clan Culture updates of the Better Bones AU, which means it is made with the ecology of southwestern Northern England in mind and only contains words for plants and animals found there. It also has phrases for cooking and crafting.

(specific regions modeled: Lancashire, Chester, Manchester, Merseyside, Clwydd is modeled for river biomes specifically)

You are free to use it for your own projects! We encourage you to consider how this language would evolve in your Clan's history, and add or remove words to make a dialect that reflects the culture's feelings and needs.

LU AU | Power Shift

A strange dungeon challenge forces The Chain’s items/powers to swap with each other! Oh my! Aka an idea I had that started with me thinking about what would happen if Warriors drew the 4Sword after reading “My Heart’s Forsaken Me”, which then spiraled into this, somehow. Speaking of Wars, let’s start with him:

Warriors - Four - The 4Sword has spilt him up and he can’t convince his other selves to rejoin. His different colors represents different parts of a Five/Four man band, instead of just different emotions.

Green - The closest to the original and The Leader. Very embarrassed by his other selves. He wears the regular Hero’s Clothes, a green tunic with a blue scarf. The rest of the color’s clothes are based on other Hero’s Clothes outfits in the HW game.

Red - The mischievous one who’s always butting heads with the others, he’s The Lancer. He loves to use all of Four’s items, and if the dungeon didn’t ban him from using other people’s weapons, he would steal borrow all the items he wants. He wears the red(since there’s two of them)Wind Walker version of the Hero’s Clothes, a red tunic with a teal scarf.

Blue - The one who would be the sweet one if not for getting constantly frustrated by the other colors. He’s very friendly to Time and Wind, but mostly Wind. He looks kinda sad around Time, and is generally very expressive. He’s insistent on helping anybody he can, he’s The Heart. He wears the Grand Travels version of the Hero’s Clothes, a blue tunic with a red scarf and yellow pants.

Whitney - Similar to Vio, this guy has more of a normal person name, a combination of White and Pinkie, the first two nicknames that were suggested to him. Like Vio, he was also named by Red. He wears the Koholint version of the Hero’s Clothes, which is almost fully white, with the scarf being a light pink and some pink accents on his tunic. He’s the silent tactician of the group, he’s The Brains.

Four - Sky - He is not at all used to carrying around the Master Sword, it being practically the length of his entire body. Once he can successfully swing it, he is able to do a Skyward Strike, but it’s a bit of a challenge. Quite a few of Sky’s items are similar to some of his own, so he mostly knows what he’s doing. He loves the Beetle, he uses it all the time and tries to figure out what he can do to upgrade it. So far, he hasn’t figured anything out yet. But unfortunately, he now he has to deal with Sky’s limited sprinting stamina, sadly not being able to use his Pegasus Boots.

Sky - Legend - Now Sky’s the one who can run to his heart’s content. He has face planted into many walls however. He also has many magical items that he has no idea how to use. It’s a little overwhelming to say the least. Why does Legend have so many rings? At least the Tempered Sword is cool.

Legend - Wind - He can use all of Wind’s items perfectly well, but whatever amount of paranoia he had has now gone through the roof. His items, his precious items that could easily kill Sky if he’s not careful with them, his precious items that could get lost, his precious items that he can’t use-needless to say that he’s not having a good time right now. But he’s holding on, just sticking close to Sky’s side to make sure everything’s okay. And also to laugh at him when he keeps face planting into a wall.

Wind - Twilight - Wind is having the time of his life right now. All of Twilight’s items are so fun to use, he loves the cute little Bomblings and uses the Spinner a lot with Red!Wars. The most exciting thing is that he can turn into a wolf-a sea wolf/coastal wolf specially-with the Shadow Crystal. It’s not too different than experience than using a Hyoi Pear on a seagull, in his opinion anyway. He is very wrong. He also now has Twilight’s marking on his face, and he thinks he looks cool.

Twilight - Time - The markings on his face have been replaced with the ones Time have. He is…kinda confused on what they mean and Time isn’t really giving him any straight answers about it, but the masks are very cool and fun to use. But the strange feeling he constantly has, the strange, almost whispers that he can barely hear, he knows something is wrong. The spirits of Termina are awake, trying to get him to fight literally everything. The Lens of Truth is pretty useful, and magic is cool.

Time - Wild - This wouldn’t be the worst set of items for Time to have, if not for the fact that he also got Wild’s curse of everything just crumbling in his hands all the time. It sucks and he is not at all used to it. Everyone’s a bit more sympathetic towards Wild now. Time’s also a whole lot better with a bow now. He wasn’t bad with them before, but now time seems to slow down when he jumping down from a platform, bow drawn, raining down arrows on the enemies. But now he can’t even tread water without wanting to collapse into himself like a pile of goo. Damn you stamina.

Wild - Hyrule - He was excited about the unlimited* arrows at first, but unfortunately, he was struck with the tiny wallets that can only hold up to 999 rupees. The magic and the rest of the items are amazing though, even though he keeps burning through his magic meter since he keeps thinking it’ll refill on its own. It does not.

Hyrule - Warriors - Since in HW you use items from different games, Hyrule can just use whoever’s items he wants. Basically ignoring some of the limits set by the dungeon. He didn’t understand the combos, weak point smashes, focus spirit, all of that stuff until Wars tells him about it. He still doesn’t really get it but he tries.

I don’t really have a story for this, just spun a wheel and thought this would be a fun idea. Anyone can take any part of this concept and run with it, please @ me so I can see. I also think the name Whitney is inherently funny.

WOWOWOW hello :) I'm so glad u asked! Forgive me for the long post friend

1) Lost Kin Food Adventures/Also Hallownest Restored AU:

Part of me wants to keep it brief since I've story boarded a whole chapter of this I've kept but I got to edit it first (if I ever do ;-;)

- Lost Kin being a student and having an informal child/father type relationship Nail master Oro

- Lost kin learns that it's Nailmaster Oro's Hatchling day coming up soon, and they are invited by Sheo and the Nail Smith! Both teach them about birthdays/Hatchling day traditions

- They intend to make a cake! But learns that not many people in Hallownest don't know how to

- Although Lemm is a Relic-Seeker, Lost Kin learns that Lemm had heard of knowledge of adventurers cooking and baking, so they venture out to find the ingredients themselves together

Sideplot skirmishes/Character Moments:

- Hallownest is being rebuilt, and more bugs are flooding in! Hornet makes Quirrel an informal advisor to The Hollow Knight to help organize the kingdom a bit much to Lemm's chagrin

- Lemm × Quirrel: Lemm worries that Quirrel is not thinking about himself after seeing him devote more time to restoring to kingdom. This leaves Quirrel kind of hurt and they fight over it sometimes.

- Lost Kin figuring out themselves battling trauma between the Radiance and Pale King, trapped between void and light.

- Canon Drama: There's still tension between Oro and Mato and the Nailmaster family is tryna fix that

- Minor Drabble: Quirrel and the Hollow Knight reminiscing over their trauma and how they heal to being scared about rebuilding the corpse that is Hallownest

**(I'd imagine Quirrel here thinking fondly of Lemm when he says "it's okay to be useless" from the Stag Beetles and Broken Legs fanfic and somehow paralleling that to the Hollow Knight's new responsibility as king to not have as much pressure. That fic by Aryashi and relationshipcrimes on Ao3 is amazing, go go go)

Notes:

- I'D ASSUME Sheo, Mato, and Oro are all triplets since they're practically identical but for that AU they've hatched on different days

- After installing Tumblr, I've seen SO MUCH food AU Stuff and I'm excited I'm not alone :_) I can't remember the exact creators that I've seen tho sadge

- Its funny since with this AU it assumes that Hallownest's gastronomy (at least in the baking department) being underwhelming as heck. I mean most people in Hallownest are warriors so I don't expect them too kek.

- Battling the fine line betwixt reality and fiction because I've done baking research on what Lemm and Lost kin CAN cook realistically but then like can bugs digest milk? Can bugs make a human cake and eat it too? Or do I have to use realistic substitutes? (Help I learned cockroaches can make milk, now you can know about it too HAH but yea no don't want that)

- Finally, definitely wanna flesh out Lemm and Lost Kin's relationship but I'm not sure how they would bond over in story. Maybe over Lemm's curiosity over the Pale family history and why these bugs look all the same and Lost Kin wanting to just experience life suffering from possession from radiance and such.

^pg 1 storyboard (also I just realized, I don't know really if vessels are born ? So that's kind of sad)

This my most beefiest au that I will probably not fully write out (maybe)? Since writing is not my strength at all but thinking of character interactions is so fun. I have more different AU stuff but saving them for other days yes

Note

iirc the Main Matchup for MLB is Ladybug vs (Peter Parker) Spiderman but I also know a lot of people don't care for it. Admittedly Peter kinda just doesn't really have great/popular opponents surprisingly? Like Miles has some fun ones but Peter it's mainly Her, Ted Kord Blue Beetle or a Batman runback.

There's almost certainly other ones but I don't really hear about them. A fun one for Hawkmoth in my head is against the Power Rangers Dino Fury villain Void Knight who has a lot in common with him (both seeking immortal spirits/weapons as a way to revive their dead wives, purple themed, both essentially do the whole 'summon monsters' thing where they also have to convince the 'monster' to work with them, both also battle against their own children but do so unknowingly and use the same equipment the heroes do). Has a fun contrast of Summoner vs Warrior and could have an army battle. Easy to justify too with Void Knight trying to get the miraculous to bring his wife back and of course the 2 fight over that.

Related to that: Power Rangers AU that transplants that season's space aspects to MLB in place of the Kwami. Alya and Nino are the 2 starting Rangers (Thinking Red and Blue), Adrien is #3 (Probably Pink), Chloe and Marinette join later as the green and black rangers (presumably with them having to work together to rescue the rest of the team early on for drama).

Dream Warrior Headcannon/Back Stories

I always thought that the Dream Warriors were such a bunch of interesting characters, however I pretty much only utilize Xero and Markoth. But I would like to give/flesh out backgrounds for all of the Dream Warriors so when I decide to use them. This will be Au/Fic based so parts of the backstrores will include stuff that happens in both cwhp and split family Au . So I will have their deaths when Hallownest fell and what happens when time travel fix-it shit happens. I will also slightly change some of their backgrounds from their canon ones so they can fit into the narrative I would like to create for them.

(Also this is a really long post, but I would like to keep all of the warriors in one post instead of multiple posts )

-Elder Hu(whomst!)[Based on: Carpet Beetle ]-

Elder Hu was the title he inherited when he was old enough. Hu is his family name while he did have a first name. But I'll just call him Elder Hu since I do not have an idea of what his first name would be.

He grew up in a stable family in Greenpath. They were not poor, but they were not rich either. They were comfortable. Elder Hu came from a family of healers and alchemists, so most of his education came from generations of trial and error in healing bugs. His education came from practice instead of theory.

From a very young age, it was clear he had talent and a purpose, so his family pulled some of their funds to send him to get qualifications as it would help him outside of Greenpath, as the rest of Hallownest would like to have someone with a formal education caring for them. He got his education from the Archive and passed with flying colors.

Elder Hu was able to get a job as a traveling healer. He traveled through Fungal Wastes, Greenpath, The Crossroads, Crystal Peaks, The Hive, Kingdoms Edge, and occasionally The City. He typically didn't like going into the city since the majority of the bugs that called him to their house are nobles who are too lazy to walk to the doctors. But every now and then he would do is work for free in the poorer parts of the City. Whenever he was in the City, he would visit the Soul Sanctum to learn some spells, not anything serious but little tricks to make some of his child patients happy. (The Sanctum was very reputable and was a well-meaning place of knowledge, and wouldn't be a place of chaos until the infection came about).

He was a reputable healer and had an amazing reputation. His life pretty much went like this and he eventually became the oldest family and was given the name Elder Hu. Nothing notable happened for the majority of his life. Well, then the infection started.

This period was extremely rough for Elder Hu. Sure he did have patients die from time to time, but now it was all of the time. He tried his best to find a cure for the infection, but the months went by and his willpower dwindled. At some point, he got infected and attacked the mantis village and they killed him. Since he was an upstanding bug, he got an honorable burial.

In the fixed timeline he still has willpower and doesn't succumb to the infection.

-No Eyes[Based on: Tansy Beetle ]-

No Eyes name wasn't probably No Eyes, so the name I have for her is Farren as I feel like it is weird to just keep calling her No Eyes.

Farren didn't have a very humble beginning. She was the first child of an extremely influential and rich family from the City. Since she was the first child, she was expected to be a good role model for her future siblings, so she had tutors from a very young age and did many activities. She had done all of the activities that rich bugs do, like fencing, interior decoration, poetry, and all of the rich people's activities. Farrens future looks like how you would expect any noble's future to look, a future of parties, riches, and comfort, but that isn't how it will go for Farren.

Farren goes to a private academy when she meets a mosskin for the first time. This is unusual as the academy she goes to is filled with rich beatles, butterflies, and other bugs fancy that can pay their way through education. But even though this mosskin was extremely well off, it was clear that he worked hard instead of paying his way in.

Farren was interested and eventually talked to the mosskin and became really good friends with him and eventually they fell for each other. Cause of this mosskin, Farrens worldview changed and through the course of the year, she knew that if she continued the lifestyle her parents wanted her to live, then she wouldn't be living at all.

Soon it was time for Farren to find a partner and her parents soon started taking her to a matchmaker. So one day, a bit before Farren and the mosskins graduation, she packed up as many clothes and valuables as she could carry in her bag and ran away to his apartment. She was able to get some of her transcripts but she knew that if she got her degree, then her parents would be able to find her. Besides, the degree held no value for her.

Once the mosskin got his degree, they both moved to Greenpath. The mosskin and Farren moved to the Stone Sanctuary which was a hospital that the mosskin inherited from his family. Both of them stated their new lives. The mosskin worked as a healer and Farren worked as a guard in Greenpath she was a talented warrior. Their life continued to go like this for a few years until Farren fell pregnant and they started their family.

Life was good for them. Farren was comfortable in life and was an attentive mother. Sadly for the family, the Mosskin died and was one of the first victims of the infection in Greenpath. Farren took up the role of running the Stone Sanctuary and protecting it as healers did the best they could.

One night she was in her bed when she was attacked by her young children who became infected. She tried to defend herself but was unable to do so when they tore out her eyes. When the healers came over the next morning, they found a few dead children along with Farren. They had to kill the rest of the kids and bury them in the Stone Sanctuary, honoring them all.

In the fixed timeline, Farren was able to defend herself and only lost one eye of her eyes. She tried to save her kids but sadly she had to kill them. Obviously, this was extremely painful for her and threw herself into caring for the Stone Sanctuary and protecting Greenpath. At some point, Unn decided to take back her land from the White Lady and Farren was drafted in to fight for Unn. In one of these missions, Farren found a young caterpillar. Still feeling the pain from her kid's death, she decided to raise the caterpillar. This caterpillar ended up being Marmu and now they have their own makeshift family.

-Marmu [Based on: puss moth caterpillar]-

I love the idea or the headcanon that Marmu would either become the Radiance or will be the gateway for the Radiance to enter a physical body.

When Marmu initially hatched, her parents were terrified. Even though she was a grub, she looked nothing like how her parents looked when they were grubs. They knew she would be in great danger as it was clear when she grew up her body would most likely be used for the Radiance. Not possessing her as The Radiance chose Marmu's egg for her body to grow from.

Her parents knew that if any of the moths knew Marmu's nature, they would turn the parents and Marmu to the King and he would most likely kill the three of them if the parents were to have more kids, they could create more Radiances. Her parents left the tribe and abandoned her deep in Queens Gardens and fled Hallownest. They knew that she was a danger and she would either die from not being properly taken care of or the Queen's Guards would have found her and killed her themselves.

For the 'future' timeline, Guards found her in an outcove and she was brought to the Queen. The White Lady immediately knew about Marmu's nature and knew she had to die. But by the time the Queen found Marmu, the Pure Vessel was almost raised to prime form, and she already become so cold. Even if she was cold, she didn't want to deal with a whining child who was already getting on her nerves cause of her confusion.

The White Lady put on her kind act to comfort the child. She told Marmu that she would teach her how to fly. Marmu was comforted by this and she followed WL to the secluded part of the garden and killed her. A couple servants and garden keepers horrified about what their lady had done secretly prepared a burial for Marmu in the gardens away from the queens eyes.

In the 'fixed' timeline Marmus soon came into Unns territory. In cwhp Unn was taking back her land from the WL after Ghost went back in time as she realized how much giving the land screwed her over. A warrior eventually found her and brought her to Unn and instead of killing her, she decided to raise her in her land. Under her protection, the Radiance can't get to Marmu. The warrior that found Marmu ended up being No-Eyes and as was said in her backstory, she cares for the Stone Sanctuary. In Split Family, something similar happens, but the conflict between PK and Unn haven't been fleshed out quite yet.

-Markoth[Based on: No specific moth]-

He was born at the Resting Grounds by The Seer in training and one of the Grounds guards. However, not everything went smoothly. It was found out pretty soon that he was born deaf and got sick often. When he was really young his father passed away too, leaving The Seer to be a single mother. She was close to a couple that was trying to start their family and they helped her as she helped the wife. The wife had some complications and died, leaving a singular egg that ended up being Xero. The Seer and Xero's father helped raise each other's kids, so both kids pretty much had two parents.

As a kid he was closed off, but not exactly shy. Kids his age think he is weird cause he can't hear and the kids aren't willing to learn sign language. Besides he has different interests than the other kids. He always seemed to like to be alone, Xero was pretty much his only friend and once he was out of his larval state. Markoth was pretty much dragged around whenever Xero went and Markoth was responsible for getting Xero out of trouble. At some point, Markoth was able to get his hearing back, but he still spoke sign language with some others.

When getting older he got the attention for many reasons. He picked up a weapon and trained with Xero and his dad. It is one thing for a moth to pick up a weapon, but it is another thing to be better than most warriors in Hallownest. He also became really skilled in soul magic which almost made him quite strong. He won quite a few tournaments and even got respect from the Mantis Tribe. He would have been considered to be a Great Knight recruit, however, based on a law that made it so moths that are related to the tribe's higher-ups, like the Seer, can't be recruited for fighting purposes.

Another type of attention he got was from the ladies. Of course who wouldn't be interested in the Seer's son who was also a fighter. However, when they flirted with him, he was just uninterested or just didn't notice the flirting attempts. This made his mother and some friends think he was either asexual or gay, but this was not the case as the Pure Vessel caught his eye once they were revealed to have emotions.

Eventually, the Pale King requested the assistance of The Seer and Markoth to give as much information on the Radiance as possible so he could seal her away effectively. Both of them reluctantly agreed and helped the Pale King, despite how much it would effect their culture and their way of life.

Now this is what happens in the future timeline. Eventually, the Vessel gets sealed and Markoth and The Seer continue doing their jobs. He traveled throughout Hallownest, finding corpses and giving them proper burials. He typically goes to Kingdoms Edge to do this as the Colosseum corpses are in abundance there.

The Radiance ends up infecting Xero and attempts to assassinate the King, which marks a point to everyone that the infection wasn't sealed away. Heavy with grief, Markoth ran to Kingdoms Edge, dwindling his supplies and eventually dying.

In the fixed timeline the Pure Vessel was revealed to be impure. In cwhp, PV ran away from the palace and came across Markoth. He healed them, as their injuries from the sealing were on them. His goal in cwhp is to protect them from pk as he feels responsible for their state. In Split Family au, he was there when they were revealed to be impure and he was still requested to the palace to find another solution.

-Xero[Based on: Madagascar sunset moth]-

I feel like I wrote Xero background a shit ton of times in multiple posts so this will be shorter. But I put his back story in The Great Knights Backstory, Ghost's Background, and Ghost's relationship with their family. I know that those posts aren't Xero-centric but they give an inside for what I have planned for him. I also have a hurt/comfort fic of him too.

Xero's Mom died a bit after she laid his clutch and he was the only surviving egg of this clutch. As mentioned in Markoth's background, Markoths mother and Xero's father almost had a co-parent situation as both parents lost their partners. However, the Seer was more present in both of the moth's lives as Xero's dad had to work extremely hard.

Xero and Markoth were practically raised as siblings and they both truly cared for each other. Markoth was only slightly older than Xero, and their relationship was basically an enthusiastic younger brother dragging his older brother around. Even though Markoth was deaf, Xero learned sign language. He just wanted to make Markoth to be included.

He is social and just your average kid. He didn't have too many friends but he was social. But his bestest friend was his dad. When his dad was sharpening up his skills with his nail, Xero would join in and train too, along with Markoth. When his dad would play music, he would join in. They were also very devoted to their religion and religion would be a huge aspect of their life. Xero's dad was his world and Xero's dad clearly cared for him.

Sadly, after contracting a blight, Xero's dad died when Xero was a teenager. This destroyed Xero and he was horrible at dealing with any sort of emotion. He was old enough where he didn't have to have a parental figure and took a job as a mercenary. A couple of years of working Xero's skills increased, and he was starting to build a reputation. However he caught the eyes of really bad bugs and they decided to change his life for the worst.

Now what happened to him changes between cwhp and split family. But what happened in both aus was that he was beaten up, tortured, and at the end bugs poured oil on him and burned him. He would have died if it wasn't for Markoth. It looks months for him to recover. He would be in chronic pain and his paranoia was up. At some point he recovered and continued his job as a mercenary and tried his best to cope.

Now there for what happens in the future. This was quite a bit after the Radiance was sealed and he was trying his best to continue his life. He started to get weird dreams. He had some internalized anger for his whole life changing for the worst in just a few years. He soon became the Radiances first victim after the sealing. The Radiance had to act fast and infected Xero overnight, as she knew Markoth and the Seer would stop her as they betrayed her once before. Xeros assassination attempt failed and this broke all of the rest of his family.

For the aus, different stuff will happen. In cwhp, Xero is just trying to live life. In split family, he ends up getting a job where he finds out a bunch of kidnappings and decides to investigate. He ends up thwarting another set of kidnappings and was seen by the Great Knights. He then was recruited and is a Great Knight in training.

-Galien[Based on: Diabolical Ironclad Beetle]-

Galien was born in the Crossroads to a normal family. Too normal as he would say in the future. His parents had average jobs, he was an average-looking beetle and didn't have super beetle strength like some of the other beetles. This caused his life to be boring in his opinion.

This causes him to want to be a warrior of some sort. Warriors have adventures, warriors' lives are interesting, and everyone looks up to warriors. It is the natural course of action if Galien wants glory.

This made him become a very delinquent child and teenager, despite his parent's punishment and protests. He always got into fights and always got in trouble with the law. He would also run away and one time he just didn't come back.

He made quite a reputation for himself, fighting everything he deems as a danger. But he wishes to get enough of a reputation to gain the King's attention. He went to Deepnest to get attention and that is where he met his end. In the fixed timeline he survived but he still is a menace to society.

-Gorb[Based on: Ghost Slug]-

He was born to a hermit living in the Howling Cliffs. Many of society outcast lives there, including Joni. However it seems like Gorbs parent was more of someone who was mentally unstable, so Gorb cared for himself.

He had an obsession with ascending, whether that is a coincidence with what the Knight needed to do to defeat the Radiance or if he actually predicted that it was up for debate. But regardless of his rambling, he gained a lot of followers. In the future timeline they simply get infected and die.

(Honestly Gorb is a character I don't have many ideas for, so I might change this in the future when I have more ideas for him)
