They don’t grow up

Hilda looked at the tree outside the cafe Zel had chosen for brunch. Its leaves were already starting to change colors slightly, and it was only mid-August. Time flies.

She entered the cafe and was greeted by a very handsome looking bartender with dark hair and a pierced brow. She believed he was Midnas Boyfriend Twilight (?) though she never looked too closely at pictures of him, so the lady wasn’t sure.

He guided her towards a table next to a wall covered with pretty real looking fake plants which gave it a very relaxing, and calm feel.

There was Zelda, with the indigo, glittery dress that they bought the last month while shopping. She wore a pearl necklace and matching pearl earrings. Hilda noticed that she also cut her hair.

Zelda immediately lit up and waved eagerly with both hands as Hilda sat down. She ordered two glasses of water, from which Hilda took a sip.

After some short smalltalk featuring the typical “how are you”, “whatcha been up to” and “anything new?” they started sharing some juicy gossip, part of which Hilda picked up while working in the theatre and Zelda accidentally came across listening to a couple the day before when she went out to eat Dinner with their mutual friend Styla.

Hilda started telling Zelda about the theatre planning to do a rendition of Dracula the musical with most of the characters genderwapped so that more girls had a time to shine, then the blonde explained the story of the aforementioned couple being two teachers who had to deal with a class from a different country apparently stealing some shoes and a charger which lead to them and the host families having to stay til 11 pm at the police station.

They switched between stories til it was once again Hilda’s turn.

“I dont know when you’ll see Styla again,” whispered Hilda, her red eyes gleaming. “However, if it’s, like, within the next two weeks you can’t tell her what I’m about to tell you. It’s a secret.”

“Tell her what?” Zelda asked back, voice low, a hushed murmur even know no one was listening to them.

“Ravio told me that Flora told him that Ballad told her that Myth told him that he was planning on asking styla to the movies in a few days.”

“Okay? Why exactly is that supposed to be a secret? I mean obvs I’m not gonna tell her but like why is this a big deal?”

“Apparently he wants to ask Styla to be his girlfriend.”

Zelda’s sky blue eyes widened, her jaw dropped. “NO!”

Hilda leaned in closer, nodding vigorously. “YES!”

Both squealed.

“THAT TOOK HIM,” Zelda paused for dramatic effect. “SO LONG!? ARE YOU CERTAIN?”

Hilda nodded again. “Absolutely. Ravio tends to factcheck every new information he comes across. Flora too. And Ballad is a pretty solid source when it comes to Myth. They’re basically the same person. So yes I’m 100% sure.”

“Whoah.” The blonde leaned back. “Honestly, kinda romantic. I’d prefer someone taking a while to get to know me and become friends with me to be sure they love me than just walking up to someone saying “hey you’re so beautiful” as if that’s the only thing that matters and than saying that they love me. Like, no, falling in love takes a few months. So yea we can for sure hang out for a while but really dating? No thank you.”

“That’s fair, I get that.” Hilda took a bit of her chocolate-sauce, mint-ice-cream-waffle she had ordered soon after arriving.

“Omigod Hilly-Billy that reminds me of something that happened the other day.”

Hilda swallowed then asked. “What? Spill girl.”

“Ok so.” Her friend clasped her hands together. “So I’m walking back from the library right? Day is nice, it’s sunny, no clouds, whatever. I’m in a good mood because for once all the visitors were actually nice and polite and didnt throw an effing party with indoor explosives and music.”

She paused to drink or rather slurp her tea.

“I’m like halfway to the bus stop when I hear some jerk actually catcall me. I obviously wasn’t sure if they meant me so I’m keeping on walking right, but then this boy calls out “Oi Marilyn!””

“WHAT?!?” Hilda grimaced, a mix of disgust and fury.

“YES! And usually I would take being a called Marilyn as a compliment because she was actually a highly intelligent woman, but the tone of that guy was so clearly condescending and rude, that I knew he meant is as a “dumb blonde” type.”

Zelda stopped again as a freckled waiter asked if they wanted something else. Hilda declined but her friend ordered another cup of tea, winking at her. Hilda let out a knowing giggle, as the waiter left.

“Wait where was I”

“Dumb Blonde stereotype.”

“Oh right! Ok so I turn around in shock because the audacity! And I see these maybe 6 14 year old guys laughing. Although one of them wearing a blue cap, smacked the guy who yelled, he had a red cap on, and, well I mean I couldn’t hear them but I think he was scolding his friend. I respect that.”

Hilda raised her eyebrows and pursed her lips. “Damn. Yea, standing up to a friend is always difficult but at that age that’s pretty cool. Props to him.”

“Yea! Oh! Adding to that I think it was his birthday too. From the red cap. They seemed to be celebrating with ice cream or something. So yea. Scolding your friend on his birthday? I hope he finds better influence. Or that he can influence his friends to be better because ugh. Anyway, that’s it really, after that I hopped onto the bus and drove home.”

There was a short, comfortable silence. Hilda finished her waffle, and Zel tapped her fingers on the table, waiting for the tea. Then she not so subtly tried to steal some of Hilda’s remaining ice cream.

“Makes me wonder tho..” Zelda said.

Hilda hummed to show she was paying attention.

“Why do men even have birthdays? Most of them don’t seem to grow up, so what’s the point?”

Hilda was taken so off guard, that she almost choked on her last piece of waffle.

Not just Hilda was laughing however, a person next to them also let out a cackle.

Zelda’s head whipped around to look at them. The person had pink hair tucked in a small ponytail, pointy nose, dark blue eyes with a tint of red that almost made them look violet.

Yeaaaa thats Legend. He must have heard what she said because he put down the cup of tea, with Zelda still staring at him, and shot her an amused, (flirty??) smirk.

Thank goodness Ravio only did that when acting. He normally just smiled goofily, but genuinely, which was, in Hilda’s opinion, much more attractive.

Zelda seemed to be into it however, as her cheeks quickly flushed and she scrambled for an excuse.

Then again, Hilda figured, that might just be the embarrassment.

“I am so sorry I didn’t mean- I- uh- I meant like- cuz we were talking-“ Zelda explained, her hands waving wildly around but the waiter cut her off.

“No, no you’re absolutely right. I’ve been the same height since I’ve slipped out the womb. Not an inch shorter.” He smiled.

Zelda giggled awkwardly, avoiding eye contact. Legend

“What was your mom, a giant?” Hilda asked, grinning.

Legend finally turned to her, grinning back. “For me to come out this short probably a dwarf. Anyway, apart from the tea you’ve just spilled, can I get you anything else?”

Oh goodness, Hilda wondered whether he picked that up from Ravio, or Ravio from him. In either case they gotta get themselves separate apartments.

“Nono, just the bill please.”Zelda laughed.

“Hmmm.” Legend put his finger to his chin. “To bring the bill or not to bring the bill.” He drawled obnoxiously.

Hilda rolled her eyes. “Bring the bill, now go, leave! Shoo!” She waved with her hands.

“I just wanna keep you here a little longer, sweet sue me!” He chuckled and rubbed his neck in typical Link fashion. Hilda notice his face had reddened. She also caught that he’d just referenced a play- or musical, they were currently working on.

“You can flirt with powerhouse of the Zell later once I’m not in close proximity, now dance away.” Hilda remarked, adapting his smirk from before.

The waiter left and Zelda looked at her, eyes wide, brows up and blushing furiously. “HILDA WHAT” she whisper shouted.

“Hey you said you wanted a guy to know you properly before making a move, how long have you known him now?” Hilda asked mock-offended and amused.

“LIKE A YEAR!”

“Damn, that’s long enough for you? My bad!”

“OH MY GOSH HILDA”

Both girls giggled.

Legend came back with the ‘William’, as he called it, grinning stupidly, and Hilda face-palmed internally. Why did she have to put up with Ravio-type humor when she wasn’t even with him? Not that she disliked it or anything, it was actually quite cute and charming but assajjdkakdkakakkalqnzkajsnaljswla

They paid, waved goodbye, and stepped back outside.

“You know, he didn’t really acknowledge the flirting thing.” Said Hilda, as the girls walked to Hilda’s motorcycle.

“Good.” Zelda smacked her arm. “That gives me the hope that he simply didn’t notice and that I can still enjoy my slow burn summer romance.”

Hilda laughed.

They passed the tree, and Hilda looked at it again. It gave the cafe a certain something. “Enjoy it while it lasts, time passes fast.”

Zelda giggled. “Not for boys tho. They don’t seem to grow up.”

First game you ever played: …uhhhhhhhh I think it was a mobile game, probably. I’ll say it was “Pocket Frogs: Tiny Pond Keeper.” Honestly, it’s still a pretty good mobile game. Would play again.

Favorite game: Uh. I. I have no clue. Let’s just say Pokémon X and skip to the next question xD

Game you’ve played multiple times: Legend of the Dark Witch. It’s a series of side-scrolling platformers. My favorite games on the 3DS.

Game with favorite ending: Haha I don’t. Finish. Many games. Imma just say the Fairune games have great endings, go check them out please, there’s a collection of them of the Switch. The LotDW games also have good endings.

Game with worst ending: I uh. Don’t know.

Favorite game relationship(s): The two girls in Fairune 2. Idk they’re cute and I’m currently thinking about them now. This opinion can and will change the moment I think about other games.

A game you like watching others play and want to play: Currently, that’s the horse girl game. I wanna play it so bad but I don’t wanna get too attached that I can’t stir up the energy to do anything else lol

A game you like watching others play but DONT want to play: Any horror game. Playing horror scares me SO badly, but watching other people play isn’t as bad :) sliding in a ManlyBadassHero recommendation here, he’s a great YouTuber to watch horror games from, he’s really calm and has a soothing voice, and I think he’s funny. He also plays a lot of indie horror games, which is great, because a lot of the videos are 15-20 minutes due to how short those typically are. He covers game demos too, and sometimes non-horror(or not as scary) games, but still indie. He’s great.

Online/Multiplayer or Solo: I like multiplayer occasionally, but definitely prefer to play solo.

So I saw this tag game that looked fun, but OP @/rainofaugustsith turned reblogs/replies off, probably cause it was a really old (2020) post.

So I decided to remake it with some of the easier questions in a new post so people could play. I'll start:

First game you ever played: Super Mario Bros on NES

Favorite game: Currently a PC game called Oxygen not Included. I have well over 2,000 hours in-game

Game you've played multiple times: Dragon Quest Builders 2. I've played through it like 3 or 4 times now.

Game with favorite ending: Skyward Sword. Having Zelda and Link reunite at the end after so many times of being so close, and just missing her

Game with worst ending: Tears of the Kingdom. I actually really dislike that everything that's happened to Link and Zelda is undone with NO lasting consequences. Like, Zelda is completely normal after undoing the (unreversable) dragonification, and lost-his-arm Link gets his arm back, despite it having been destroyed and replaced by the Zonai one.

Favorite game relationship(s): Skyward Sword Zelink, and DQB2 Malroth/Builder (female)

A game you like watching others play and want to play: Any of the older Zelda games, I'm slowly working my way through them, but there's still a lot I dont have. Also Cadence of Hyrule looks really fun, despite it not being popular cause its a spin-off

A game you like watching others play, but DON'T want to play: Rimworld. I really like watching this one YTber play it, but tried it myself and it is way too complicated for me. He makes it look so effortless and fun though

Online/Multiplayer or Solo: Generally solo, as I don't have many friends I can play online games with, and I find playing with strangers way too stressful. Friends are fine though
