i don't know how many people would be able to relate to this but have you ever made bottle cap pins and when you're done folding down the edges, they're all fucked up like this?

that happens when you pinch them with pliers. to avoid denting it, the thing i found to do is to just press the edges down with something, against your work surface. i used the flat end of another thicker pair of pliers. so the result was this

it's still finicky dealing with the safety pin and getting it over the folded edge but look at it
