#the odyssey #odysseus #non mdzs #Worse part of this is that this isn't even the first time he's seen this movie.#I don't think I captured the sheer genuine confusion and distress when the Nobody gambit came up.#Mans had his world upheaved for a moment. Know the risks when you blaze it I suppose.#My dad has great taste in films and I can always count on him recommending something really unique.#We've been going through various Odyssey adaptations and I must say; Odyssey (1997) is a good one.#Telemachus is appropriately a moody and emotional (crybaby) teen boy.#Hermes is the twinkiest little fruit I have every seen. No exaggeration. It is truly a sight to bear witness to.#Athena is sadly a weak point. And while the olive tree is constantly drawn attention to...there's no wedding bed gambit.#Penelope fans will really enjoy how she has lots of good scenes. Her plight runs parallel through the whole movie!#The scene with Anticlea on the beach particularly stands out. 'You'are my mother! You're my father! You are my strength!'#She's losing everything and everyone important to her. She has no control in her life or her home.#All she can do is wait and keep her head high despite the rising waters. God I love her.#All in all; I highly recommend this one as another good adaptation. It rearranges and cuts out some scenes but hits the mark overall.

The uglies discourse is driving me insane. You can hate Joey King that’s fine, but to be mad the uglies aren’t uglier and the pretties aren’t prettier??? Either you didn’t read the books or you completely missed the point of them.

The Uglies are NORMAL ASS PEOPLE. Meaning some of whom, probably many, are already attractive! And the Pretties are those people who’ve been taken and polished, usually by making one side of their face symmetrically match the other. They’re supposed to look like the perfect polished version of humans that celebs become (think Dove Cameron)

Pretties are NOT supposed to be freaky looking. They are beautiful enough that you want to become them, but not so much that they are threatening. It’s like the whole point to that class of people, particularly the young ones.

The SPECIALS tho….. They should look beautiful in a frightening uncanny valley way. If they fail to do that then we can talk.

My comic is so pretty...

The hiatus is letting me take a little extra time on these episodes, and I'm definitely putting it to good use!!!

#almost done with my 8th episode... which will give me. two weeks. of buffer...#id really like at LEAST a month... but to be more comfortable id like two #which means 2-6 more episodes before I come back!#I've got about 7 weeks so its possible. but i do still have to finish book 4 #so much to do ..........#I decided for my next comic im doing 3 updates a month.#having 10 days instead of 7 to make an episode is such a huge huge huge difference...#difference in quality and in my health!#anyways the comic is really pretty im really happy with the work im doing rn #the environments especially. im getting to spend a nice amount of time on them and theyre turning out so nicely #its nice to be able to write with a lot of different environments and not have to redo panels when I get to them cause of time #cause every time theres a wild angle? you need a new background...#so sometimes. often actually. there just isnt the time to make the backgrounds for those and i have to make them more flat...#which is fine. it doesnt really affect anything narratively. but. idk. it's kinda sad right?#anyways yeah! 10 days will be much better.#36 episodes a year is about what ive been uploading with my hiatuses on the weekly schedule anyways!#so might as well cut out that super stressful middleman and just commit to that #52 a year is just such a huge difference and i have to accept its not possible to me #i will hurt myself trying to do that. and i want to make comics my whole life!#so i cant push myself that hard now and sacrifice my future. we're gonna go slower after this...#anyways yeah cant wait to come back but also time. if I could get an extra week like a secret one just for me #where theres no chores no nothin just me and my work #thatd be great! so go ahead and do what you gotta do to give me a little pocket dimension #me: ugh i want to return right now...#the more logical me: NO we need the time to finish everything!!!!!! There is a brutal contrast in how Megatron and Optimus's stories end. Optimus nobly surrenders his spark, along with the Matrix of Leadership, having been sent off by his dear and trusted friends after giving them a fond farewell. He has accomplished his life's greatest goal; now he is able to rest. He dies willingly, at peace, bringing hope and giving life to the next generation by restoring the Allspark.

Megatron had already been killed, and was told that he can never join that very Allspark. Having been enslaved, and only released because of Optimus's actions, he is now reanimated, inhabiting his own corpse. His only remaining ally, who has constantly betrayed him, does not understand him. He flies off, alone, having lost all his forces and failed in his mission, and realizing that his life's greatest purpose was misguided. He is left, we can only assume, to live a hellish and hopeless life--a shell, consumed by the past.

And he did not tell Optimus goodbye. He knows that Optimus will leave him behind, will obtain the heaven he can never enter. He gives him the parting gift of his repentance, to acknowledge this. But in his refusal to say farewell, there is an echo of his own wretched endurance. He does not get to rest. Megatron will remain, eternally alone--eternally waiting for a reunion that will never come.
