Since no one is doing anything about school shootings, how about we just stop showing up to school? If you are in a position to, that is. Students should be flooding the streets in protest of gun violence. Parents shouldn’t have to be teaching their kids how to hide from a school shooter. Parents, stop letting your kids go to school until politicians decide to do something. Vote for people who do decide to do something if you even care about the kids. I quit my college class not just because I felt that school wasn’t for me, but because I didn’t want my final moments to be spent bleeding out on the college campus floor. My teacher doing the first class immediately told us where to hide in case of an active shooter. I’m sick and tired of there being access to machines of death. Not to mention the people who are doing this are white men with MAGA hats.
Another thing, STOP MAKING JOKES ABOUT WHAT TRUMP SAID IN THE DEBATE!!! We need to take this vile scumbag seriously when we are one election away from genocide within our own country. Go ahead and cancel me for saying Screw Palestine and vote for blue, because if you don’t vote, there’s so much more blood on your hands. I don’t want to be executed for simply existing. There is no moving out of the United States if Trump gets into power, as that’ll embolden other fascists hiding in the shadows with anything they can get their hands on to commit a hate crime.
If Trump gets in power, I’m seriously considering setting myself on fire. I’m not letting him claim my life.

Remind yourself that this is temporary.
“This will mean I can’t transition” could be more accurately framed as “parts of my transition will have to be delayed.”
This won’t last forever. One day, your body is going to feel like a home. One day, you’ll have people who call you what you want to be called. One day, you’ll look in the mirror and see yourself. Please make sure you’re around long enough to see it. Sending you so much love.

alright hold on hold on hold on we're doing 3am gender thinking again
so the initial idea of my views on gender that occurred to me at 5am last time in what was probably a manic episode is fuck gender I can't fit the boxes expected of me so I'll dismantle the whole system and do my own thing
so problem is I can't do that, I can't dismantle the whole system and go my own way because I am entirely dependent on the sex and gender systems we have in place and how other people view sex and gender
additionally the idea that gender itself is the outdated stereotypical system is flawed, gender is the way a person feels and we've made categories and boxes to describe incredibly complex feelings
the problem is the more specific a gender gets, the smaller that box gets, the more people are excluded from that box so the solution is another box that fits better or make their own like with neogenders
the solution is a line of gender boxes like hermit crabs...
the fun part about thinking of gender and stuff is that I personally believe that every single person on earth experiences gender and life differently from every other person, even if only slightly
so theoretically if every person on earth were to describe their gender outlook and gender experiences and form a gender identity from that, then there could theoretically be 8 billion god damn genders
the solution is more genders
the solution is running Doom (1993) on my fucking gender

yknow i love transmasc/tboy dirk always and forever but the way some ppl treat transmascness vs transfemmeness in HS's narrative........kinda sucks. like the whole thing about how being transfeminine is a literal transient experience and lets the character in question (any character) truly escape the oppression of HS's narrative-as-a-character which is patriarchal and toxic (lord english, hussie-the-character to an extent. i guess. idk ive seen a lotta ppl lump SI-hussie in w/ this), which is great and does hold weight as an analytical lens esp with how hussie irl is nonbinary. but where does this leave transmasc characters. why are we treating (headcanoned) transfemme HS characters like this and then tbh gleefully dooming (headcanoned) transmasc characters to eternal narrative suffering brought by LE and then mocking them for being ''gross tboys'' full of ''icky testorerone'' so its their fault theyre in this perpetual torment really? because they ''''chose to be a man''''? dunno man its starting to feel bad. especially since some bnf's who are really into this fan theory do actually kinda treat the general idea of transmasculinity like somthing to hold with tongs at arms length away from them. as if its alien or infectous or something and then get really mad when equally dysphoric transmascs do the same with feminity. why are we dooming dirk strider to eternal toxic-masculine suffering and what does that say about how we treat real life transmasc folks both in and outside of the fandom
#my t#basically you arent more or less special or deserving of celebration or joy depending on what pronouns you use#and idk yall gender is such a personal thing and your trans experience def does colour the way you look at the world. it def does mine/ours#and i wish ppl on this site would be more honest about that cause holy hell do some of yall treat eachother like dogshit#PURELY on the basis of identity. you are no better than a TERF if you do this. you ARE a TERF if you do this#but like...........can we all at least TRY not to demonize '''the other side''' here#in quotations because theres no '''other side''' in the trans community we're all just trans in different ways#theres just like. yknow#theres a reason why so many tboys and transmasc folks identify with the striders and dirk especially#and theres a reason why *so many* transmascs felt so much joy abt tboy roxy#so many of our lives pre-transition looked and felt like roxy lalondes. so many of us legit forcefully feminized ourselves#bc the alternative was so fucking scary. as you can probably imagine regardless of what flavour of trans you are#theres also a reason why there are so many transmasc fictives named dirk and dave and idk what to tell these ppl abt that#i remember rlly clearly this affectionate joke like a literal decade ago on this site that was like#daves intro dropped and 1mil tboys named dave materialized into existence#dirks intro dropped and 1mil MORE tboys named dirk materialized into existence#i try rlly rlly hard not to get sour at wlw/nblw focused memes that are like#''i made pepsicola better!!! theyre she/theys now :)'' for example#but its getting increasingly harder to ignore when the same ppl who make these memes treat#fans who prefer m/m *bc they themselves are gay* like shit#or like enjoying m/m because theyre mlm is mysogynistic. which it isnt ffs#that shit gives i am uncomfortable when is not about me and i aint here for that#if i were like these ppl maybe id turn all their fave girls into tboys just to spite them#but it wont be just to spite them bc 1) i aint abt that actually. im too fuckin grown for it and 2)#i genuinely just enjoy exploring m/m and masculinity more because i am a trans mlm. its very simple math

Full sketchbook page of younger Constant doodles. I am rotating this OC like never before
#truly what inspired this was finding what they were called before#because they were not always constant! they picked that out as a family tradition#the tiefling thing of having virtue names#i made it into 'around coming of age some cultures of tieflings will change their names to a quality they want to embody'#constant's mom is named passion for example#you could find a mystery or a dashing or a quiet or a resolute#how common that is varies by region and it's tied to specific cultures among tieflings#all the tieflings you see in bg3 have tiefling names and not a single virtue name in there#but constant's mom comes from a family that does it#and constant wanted to as well. they felt it was a good coming of age custom#they picked constant for steadfastness. predictability. regularity. dependability. constancy!#and because they wanted it to be a name name as well since their dad isn't from that tradition#and so having their birth name lets me kind of see who they used to be. well it's the same guy! but they're not constant Yet#they haven't committed to this specific way of living yet#they were almost curiosity. or insight maybe. something like that (in universe. me the creator i never considered anything else seriously)#but they wanted to be there for people more than to focus on discovering things#and their curiosity is so very regular it works with being reliable honestly#you know they'll touch that button and go check the weird book out and lick the spider and drink the potion. you plan for it#by the end of the adventure their companions see some strange little mystery and go 'constant. please don't touch that' by reflex#but yeah it's made me think of baby constant-who-wasn't-constant-yet#i feel weird putting the name out cause it's not a deadname but it kind of is?#they're not that kid anymore in the tiefling tradition way and in the trans way. but also they were that kid in both ways once again#anyway. my darling. constant crestridge. they didn't make it alliterative on purpose btw it just happened#wow i have an ocs tag now#bg3

Baby fever so bad I've been thinking about the ideal number of kids for characters. What is wrong with me.
#no main tag#anyway. I think for freddy it would depend. he's the anxious type- so having just one kid would be a lot for him#I'd imagine his decision of having another baby would be impacted a lot by how the first kid went#if everything was mostly alright he'd be all for it- if shit went sideways he would forever dread having a second one#fred doesn't like children. so... he probably wouldn't have any if not tied to freddy. and even then would insist on only one#chica... I think she'd like two. I've heard headcanons that she has younger siblings#and I see her as the type to want to want that for her children too#although I also imagine she would want to have her kids later in life... mid 30s maybe#fox I also see as someone who wouldn't really want kids- especially since I headcanon him as trans#he doesn't want to be pregnant and he doesn't want to dedicate years of his life raising a child#when he already spent most of his childhood having to take care of meg since they didn't have any parents#maybe if his partner wanted to adopt. and they adopted a slightly older child instead of a baby. but that's a big maybe#bonnie... I'm not too sure honestly. I feel like he values his freedom and would want to enjoy his youth#but I don't think he'd be against having a kid or two (maybe even three)#also I find the idea of him having lots of kids funny because. bunny lol#so idk about him#golden meanwhile I fully believe would want a big family. he felt so alone growing up and he's so starved for love#so he dreams of having his own family with lots of kids living in a big house and being very happy <3#I think he'd be happy with up to five kids lmao. although he understands if his partner would rather have less#he'd definitely want at least two though. he always thought having a sibling would've made his childhood less lonely and sad#so he wants that for his own babies :')#I was going to say more characters but now I'm embarrassed lol goodnight

Me: Hey I'm trans.
People: Read The Bible
Me: only finding affirming things in bible study ... Yeah I'm doing that. I'm trans.
People: >:[
#personal#fr it's a little ridiculous#I'm just. so tired of *gestures at the State Of Things*#tired of people saying I'm an ''ideology'' and that I should be eradicated#tired of people saying my friends should be eradicated#tired of people trying to take away our access to safety and medical care and the ability to use the bathroom#like come on I just want to live#just let me be my genderfunky little Christian self#I am legitimately going to be moving to somewhere safer after college because there's no way I'm gonna feel safe here#but even so depending on how other things go... if national stuff goes down hill#it's going to be devastating#(main post only vaguely connected to this ig)#oh but also so many people just. don't get how genuinely hard it is to be queer and Christian#we were ''discussing'' why it can be hard to have faith in sunday school today#and like I brought up some very real reasons I struggle with faith sometimes#(other people. policies actively harming us. being called wrong and bad and whatever when we very much aren't.)#and the group just kinda backed off and was *scared* to have an actual discussion#like they didn't know how to react#and a lot of my queer friends aren't religious anymore so it's hard to have conversations about specific things like this with them#also genuinely when I've been studying in the bible I don't find anything anti-trans#I just find things that are really good to me and helpful *and that are supportive of me being trans*#yet for some reason I'm the bad guy#for some reason ''love others as I have loved you''#and ''greater love has no man than this; that a man should lay down his life for his friends''#has turned into ''eradicate trans people''#''force people to either conform to your idea of Right or be severely punished''#''it's ok to blatantly misgender and disrespect people''#i. just. want. to. live.#I want to be a college kid messing off with friends and going to classes and not worrying about getting kicked off campus#I want to be able to sing in a register I can't reach by an octave when I try sing it

I hate this attitude so much! This argument is stolen from disability and poc activists who have been asking for a long time for people playing disabled characters or characters from a particular ethnic background to actually be from these groups. You'll notice this actually makes total sense!
While not having scarjo play your poc is a good starting point, casting a chinese actor to play a vietnamese character because "its close enough for the white people in the audience" is still a problem. And casting accurately solves many many problems. Eg when your writer/costumer/set designer messes up the actor knows and corrections can be made. When they need to act vietnamese can.
Same goes for disability. So many autistic people hate shows about us because allistics are really bad at playing us! They can do stereotypes and act kooky enough to satisfy allistic audiences but like in the above example that means using us as objects while ignoring us as part of the audience. You have any idea how often we see mobility aids used dangerously wrong on tv? Or how often characters are supposed to have an illness but they don't have any of the symptoms! A disabled actor has symptoms! Their aids are real! And when things are depicted as real then we exist
But we don't have these same reasons for queer characters. Sure there is a queer culture, but crucially not all queer people are part of the community. There is no way to act queer the way there is to act muslim or italian, because the only thing we all have in common is being different. We come from everywhere, and we act every way. Some of us try to fit in with our communities of origin, some of us try to fit into the queer community. Neither way is right or wrong. Anyone can be queer and we can be anyone.
There are times when casting queer actors might make sense, like for a visibly trans character, but if they're not visibly trans cis people can do that. And I always like it when queer people are in things because give us money, but we can be anyone so anyone can be us

if i see one more article, post, or news anchor talking about how joe biden is old, i'm putting my fist through a window. i feel like i've gone through the fucking looking glass.
this is project 2025, trump's plan for what he'll do if elected. whatever you think is in there, it's worse. watch a breakdown of the highlights here. this man wants to unravel the fabric of our democracy for good - this all aside from his vitriolic hatred of poc, his determination to start ww3, and the fact that he can't string a sentence together without telling outrageous and easily verifiable lies. his administration will start their crusade to exterminate trans people on day one, and they won't stop there.
do not talk to me about how joe biden is old, as if that could ever matter to me more than my life or the lives of my friends and family. my little sister is 14, she's trans, and i don't know what to tell her when we talk about politics, because one of these people wants her dead and the other one is old and some of you are still acting like those problems are equals.
i can't fucking stand this. i'm not hearing it this time, we are not repeating 2016. refusing to vote is not an act of protest, it is an act of complacency, and our most vulnerable will suffer for your negligence. vote like your life depends on it, because for some of us, it really fucking does.

struggling with how to word this, but putting it out there anyway:
i can fully understand the posts on here from a lot of americans being tired of "vote blue no matter who" posts when the #1 thing that people are constantly (and sometimes only?) addressing is how the republican party is going treat trans/queer people if elected.
it's part of an unfortunate pattern of prioritizing the effects on a demographic that includes white + upper class people, when people of color and those in the global south are actively and currently being killed or relegated to circumstances in which their survival is very unlikely
it is genuinely exhausting to witness this, and i was also on the fence about even participating in voting because i a) felt like it didn't matter and b) every time i voiced being frustrated with the current state of the country, white queer people would immediately step in with "but what about trans people!" -> (i am mixed race trans man)
and i say this with unending patience toward people who do this, because i know that it's not something they actively think about. but everyone already knows how the republican party is going to treat queer people. you are probably talking to another queer person when you bring up project 2025. the issue is that, for those of us who aren't white, or for those of us who are but who are conscious of ongoing struggles for people of color worldwide, the safety of people around the world feels more urgent than our own. that is the calculation that's being made.
you're not going to win votes for the democratic party by dismissing or minimizing these realities and by continually centering (white) queer people.
very few people on here and twitter are actually talking about issues beyond queer rights that concern people of color, or how the two administrations differ on these issues instead of constantly circling back to single-issue politics. this isn't an exhaustive list. but these are the issues that have actually altered my perspective and motivated me to the point of committing to casting a vote
the biden administration has been engaged in a years-long fight to allow new applicants to DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the program that allows undocumented individuals who arrived as children to remain in the country) after the Trump administration attempted to terminate it. the program is in limbo currently because of the actions of Trump-backed judges, with those who applied before the ruling being allowed to stay, but no new applications are being processed. Trump has repeatedly toyed with the idea of just deporting the 1.8 million people, but he continues to change his mind depending on whatever the fuck goes on in his head. he cannot be relied on to be sympathetic toward people of hispanic descent or to guarantee that DREAMers will be allowed stay in the country. biden + a democratic controlled congress will allow legal challenges to the DACA moratorium to gain ground.
the biden administration is open to returning and protecting portions of culturally important indigenous land in a way that the trump administration absolutely does not give a fuck. as of may 2024, they have established seven national monuments with plans to expand the San Gabriel Monument where the Gabrielino, Kizh / Tongva, the Chumash, Kitanemuk, Serrano, and Tataviam reside. the Berryessa Snow Mountain is also on the list, as a sacred region to the Patwin.
i'm recognizing that the US's plans for clean energy have often come into conflict with tribal sovereignty, and the biden administration could absolutely do better in navigating this. but the unfortunate dichotomy is that there would be zero commitment or investment in clean energy under a trump-led government, which poses an astounding existential threat and destabilizing force to the global south beyond any human-to-human conflict. climate change has caused and will continue to cause resource shortages, greater natural disasters, and near-lethal living conditions for those in the tropics - and the actions of the highest energy consumers (US) are to blame. biden has funneled billions of dollars into climate change mitigation and clean energy generation - trump does not believe that any of it matters.
i may circle back to this and add more as it comes up, but i'm hoping that those who are skeptical / discouraged / tired of the white queer-centric discourse on tumblr and twitter can at least process some of this. please feel free to add more articles + points but i'm asking for the sake of this post to please focus on issues that affect people of color.

Well... election went about as badly as it possibly could have but I will be writing prolifically to cope with the deep, existential, déjà vu sort of dread I've been feeling since I first checked the results, so there's that I guess.

I keep thinking about the person at the DNC that said “If you’re not at the table, then you’re on the menu”.
They refused to allow any Palestinians up there to speak about the genocide their people have been facing for nearly a year straight, on top of the decades of violence and oppression and occupation. The genocide that is only able to continue because the U.S. government refused to stop arming Israel.
People have also pointed out that there was no transgender speaker. I’ve heard this was the first time in a few years that happened.
What I’m trying to get at is that it feels incredibly obvious to me that trans people should be standing with Palestinians in solidarity, as many of us already are. What we are facing in the U.S. is bad but nothing compared to the ongoing attacks in Gaza and the West Bank, but we are a marginalized group that very clearly cannot comfortably rely on the dems to grant us safety and protection. Our rights should not be getting dangled over our heads by liberals trying to draw us away from supporting a ceasefire and an arms embargo when those are immediate and urgent threats, this has been going on for far too long and I find it fucking disgusting how many people use our identity, our community, to try and guilt people for putting their foot down when it comes to genocide.
I hope to be able to live in my home state and not have to worry about my access to hormones or surgery being taken away. I hope to be able to get my gender marker changed on my license, not get turned away, not get added to a fucking watch list. But more than that I want to wake up tomorrow and not see new atrocities being inflicted on people who have already been through so much. I want to check the news hours from now and see that people in Gaza won’t have to flee anymore, that not another bomb will be dropped on them, I want to see homes and schools and hospitals being rebuilt. My right to transition should not come at the expense of people who have been treated so poorly through history and to today, there isn’t a candidate even pushing to protect my rights, my existence, so I refuse to put the fantasy of them doing so before the moral responsibility of supporting Palestinians.

edit: this post is not for terfs. trans women are women.
you ever just think about how across the whole of human history, the window of time where women have been able to choose not to spend their lives cooking and cleaning and being pregnant for men they never wanted to marry is so vanishingly small, and even then that’s not an option for women in lots of areas of the world, and there are girls being taken out of school and forced to marry at 12 years old, and if nothing changes for them then all they’ll ever know is a life of forced servitude and abuse and rape, and how some men just see this as fucking normal
you ever just think about how the gulf between women’s rights in different countries is so massive and there are men working their fingers to the bone to strip back reproductive rights because they look at their society where women can live their lives free from being shackled to men through financial dependence and constant pregnancy and childbirth and think ‘this won’t do at all’
you ever just think about the surge of ‘tradwife’ propaganda and how people are romanticising the vulnerability and dependence that some women would kill to break out of. how women are romanticising their own oppression

Just in case Trump wins:
right after Trump was elected in 2016, suicidality skyrocketed. If you’re considering suicide in the wake of the election this year, at least wait until after it’s absolutely certain that he’s won - after every vote has been counted, every state certified, and maybe even after he’s been sworn in (IF he wins), just to make sure he doesn’t go to prison instead. Watch the results come in live here, but don’t obsess or let them sway your vote. (To be clear, I don’t want a single person to commit suicide over the election results, no matter what. But I know from experience that “don’t do it” is thoroughly unhelpful, so instead I’m saying at least wait.)
if you’re considering suicide because you fear worsening material conditions, you might think a hotline can’t help with that. and it’s true that they can’t change legislation or promise you’ll be safe. but it’s worth double checking whether what you’re actually hurting from is in fact unfixable. right now, just getting through the emotions can help you regain a more objective view of the situation, and then you can work on surviving it. plus, when something bad happens, we tend to vastly overestimate how bad it will seem in the future, no matter how bad it actually is.
In my experience, it might take a few tries before you find a hotline that picks up, either because they’re so busy, or they’re closed at that time, or they simply don’t serve your location or demographic, so under the thingy I’ve listed more than just the same handful that tend to show up on other websites. Even if you’re not actively suicidal, you can talk to them about your hard feelings, ask for material resources, or just vent to a compassionate listener.
