it's a pet peeve but I kinda hate when people draw Mabel with pin-straight hair. like, the simplicity of the artstyle leaves it kind of ambiguous how curly it is, but we also know what pin-straight hair looks like in the Gravity Falls artstyle because Pacifica exists. and Mabel's hair doesn't look anywhere near that straight. like c'mon. just draw her with some curls.

Wander Over Yonder turned 10 today!

Here to say that this show really inspired me to do a lot. I cannot believe it aired today 10 years ago. Everything about this show is fantastic. The characters were iconic and well-written, the adventures they went on were goofy mixed with some emotional/wholesome moments, the story that was told was intriguing and left us wanting more, the songs were bangers, the animation is adorable and (from a technical standpoint) ahead of its time... you can tell the writers poured their heart and soul into this show and it really paid off. Its message of positivity, helping others, and loving people regardless of their imperfections is something I feel like everybody needs to hear.

If you've never seen Wander Over Yonder, I'd highly recommend it. You can find it on Disney+, Hulu, and even the very first episode was posted to DisneyXD's YouTube channel about a week ago. So definitely go check it out if you've got the time.

(Also this is my first time drawing the characters. I hope they look good. I want to draw more of them and also try to use tumblr more often, so maybe expect me to post more WOY stuff soon :D)

I’m still so fucked up thinking about how intensely Lumon traps its employees and seeks out vulnerable people at their lowest

The new episode was such a glaring example of that

Like obviously we have Mark S., whose outtie of course is suffering from severe depression due to the death of his wife. As he starts to realize that maybe this company is worse to be with than without, they draw him back in with the “promise” of alleviating his depression because his innie is thriving! That success of your innie could trickle out! If you stop working here, you might lose that chance of getting better, and you don’t want to risk that do you? Of course he wouldn’t want to risk that, even if it maybe isn’t a super good situation.

But then we got another glaring example with Dylan G., who is also clearly trapped by Lumon. Considering what we know now from episode 2, Dylan was probably desperate for some secure employment to take care of his family. He clearly cares about his family a lot, and the fear of putting his family in a bad situation would obviously push him to jump into a job that perhaps is unnerving, but secure. The first thing we see him ask at his interview is “what is the health insurance like here?” His first priority is his family, and I’m sure Lumon could see how desperate he was to make sure his family was safe.

But even after firing him, he’s still trapped with Lumon! Because of course other jobs would look at employment with Lumon and think “You dont have skills that you know of??? Why would we hire you?” So the severed employees are stuck. It’s a horrible cycle of dependence that they enact to create desperate workers trapped in a world that is creating more and more horror and is practically impossible to escape

Anyways this show fucks so severely I love it so much

i love the fear domains dont get me wrong but when i first heard about "bringing the world closer to all the fears" i kinda imagined it would be like... experiencing every single fear at once. staring at the unimaginably endless sky filling all of your corners while poised, frozen, clamped to the infinite earth by knives and guns and chains and silk and roots, feeding upon nothing but memories of raw and impure butchery, praying for your body to decay, dreading those who overcome you no matter what remains, who make your blood into their home, your soul and skin inseparable; and all the while your eyes can see nothing and nothing but black like smoke and yet you feel your own gaze spread among every particle of the universe; watch as you wonder whether it is real (whether you are real; what is a you? maybe everything and nothing were you all along) and lose every one of those wanderings of your mind to taut strings which steal your breath and open your mouth and force you to speak their mind, meaningless words resonating for nobody; the only occupant of an unforgiving planet, levelled smooth by loss, every inch of it covered with absence, wishing with all your heart that your release never appears to assert its final and complete conclusion... yknow?

For Impulse I chose Samurai Jack!

Samurai Jack takes place in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future, so I thought this would suit Impulse well given his build theme and skin this season.

Samurai Jack is a 90s cartoon created by Genndy Tartakovsky. The story follows a samurai prince from a fictional version of Japan who battles a shapeshifting entity of evil named Aku. Right as Aku is about to lose to the samurai, he tears a hole in time and throws the samurai into the future.

Once in the future, the samurai, given the nickname Jack by locals, must find a way to travel back to his own time to defeat the immortal Aku and prevent the future from being shaped under Aku's malicious control.

Samurai Jack is a fantastic, imaginative cartoon that deserves to be called art. Not only are the character designs fantastic, many of the episode concepts themselves are interesting and thought-provoking in a way not achieved by many other shows.

The show originally ran for four seasons and was not concluded. Twelve years later, an fifth season aired that completed the story. The first four seasons are suitable for all ages, but the fifth season is significantly more mature. I highly recommend watching the entire series, including the fifth season, which is a fantastic conclusion to the story.

Some thoughts on The Chosen season four episode four:

I really appreciated how Peter and John tried to be there for Thomas.

Philip trying to teach Matthew how to cut a pomegranate, and it turning into chaos as the disciples fought about the proper way to do so, was so them.

I'm ecstatic to see Eden smiling again.

The scene between Jesus, Little James, and Thaddeus was great.

Matthew and Peter's interactions are so fun.

Gaius is wonderful in every single way.

The "you don't understand what you're asking" scene was everything I wanted it to be.

And I loved the ending with Gaius hugging Jesus.
