#there's a flood coming to my city 😬#the wave is supposed to hit tomorrow at night#i'm a bit worried?#they say it's gonna be similae to 1997#which is. not good.#everyone at work was panicking which did not help#they said the water is almost sold out in shops#and i couldn't go to the shop to buy it because i was. at work.#so i messaged my dad and he bought some for me and he'll drive over to bring it to me#his town doesn't have a big river so you can still buy water there lmao#i asked him to buy me some non perishable food like rice crackers while he was at it too#and now i'm scared that he and my mom will buy out the entire shop and i'll have to eat those things for months 😬#they can be like that sometimes haha#yeah they most definitely will bring over the whole car full of food what do i do 😭#anyway my main concern is the lack of electricity because the stupid stove in this flat doesn't use gas ;_;#gotta charge the powerbanks 💪#people are also worried that we'll go to work tomorrow and then it'll turn out the road is flooded and we'll have to stay at work overnight#lmaoooo why won't the company just give everyone the week off?? (because of capitalism)#my sister has a two months old baby and she is leaving the city tonight to stay with our grandma#they do need clean water for the baby and the government recommended the children and the elderly to evacuate#i'd evacuate myself if it wasn't for my work 😭 (capitalism)#aghhh i'm sure it's not gonna be that bad#it's just my first flood you see#well technically the second one because i was born in 1997 hahaha but yeah. yeah.#i do like my warm meals and hot tea and i do like to shower#i do hope it'll last 2 days max!! but a friend says it can last longer depending on the damage ;_;#i know i can't really complain because i at least live on the 5th floor#my sister lives on the first floor. right by the river. yeah...#not to mention the people in surrounding villages#someone at work said that the water reached the third floor in some places in 1997 wtf 😭

Experiencing a truly unholy amount of joy at being able to use my stove and oven again for the highest purpose of a kitchen: Making Soup.
#my biggest beef with electric stoves#and the reason I can will and MUST fight people who have beef with gas stoves#is that when the power goes out A BITCH WOULD LIKE TO STILL BE ABLE TO FUCKIN' COOK#like yes I could have fired up - literally - the woodburning stove downstairs#but I do NOT know how tf to cook on that and do not want my first attempts to be in darkness and misery#I will practice when it is more autumnal and the idea of starting a fire indoors doesn't make me want to sweat just imagining it#and while I have LIGHT so I can SEE what I am DOING#like I came out of this as well as humanly possible and I'm still like 'I am going to sing a song of joy because I can make SOUP'#babble tea (blacklist this for less chatter)

Midwest Museum has been on my mind especially after watching friends w my mom and talking about how unfunny that show was. it rolls around in my head because i really like the concept of a story where someone lives somewhat like shit but this is a life they enjoy and want and like
i guess the position of the main character, which is ''i grew up in a decent house with a rich family and i was never hit but i was traumatized to hell and back by every second of my childhood'' to ''im a poor adult with a minimum wage job and a shitty apartment and i have an alcohol problem and my friends are sort of sucky people but ive never felt so happy in my life and you CANNOT take this away from me''. and all that comes with it
#the main protag is like. i like her a lot#she claims shes a femme lesbian but dresses like shit and wears cheap eyeshadow w no mascar and hates heels#and she tries to hit on women who she thinks are lesbians but are just straight girls in tank tops#her best friend enables her alcoholism and is a known trespasser who doesnt like when others are emotional in front of him#and they have a mutual friend whos on some insane mental bender#and they all have to figure out how to prove to the protagonists army vet-turned-office lady rich mother to not come and ruin#this for her. because she wants to live in her shitty 600$/month apartment w her weird neighbor#and she wants to walk to work in the snow in her tredsafes and burn her food in the stove and not know how to boil water correctly#and drink way too much gas station cappucinos and walk around with all her money on her person and not have a bank account

#alli [sic]#personal#‘24#yeah they’re sober but they clearly went on a bender the night before#i came home from work to them cleaning up blood from where they had cut their hand really bad on a can#i had to insist on letting me take them to an urgent care#they were tearful and apologetic the entire time…#then i had to leave them bc i had a tax appointment#i made sure to cancel plans with other friends to make sure they weren’t alone#then they didn’t respond to my texts all night#and my traumatized ass is like… did they kill themself? are they killing themself rn?#should i knock? what if me choosing to give them privacy just means they kill themself uninterrupted?#they were fine (in the bathroom this morning)#but this morning i walked out smelling gas because the stove was slightly on#cue panicked opening of windows and doors#they come out of the bathroom to apologize for last night and i’m like mid-panic you don’t smell the gas?!#n e wayz only 6 months with them#as long as they continue to be sober it should be fine. right? right.#🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

#turned on the gas stove#couldn't figure out how to light it#freaked out because it smelled so much like gas#opened the front door#broke out my emergency electric hot plate#immediately blew a fuse with it#had to figure out which breaker to reset#got it#made soup#easy peasy!

#perhaps I shall do a little off brand story time if anything insane happens to me this year#something insane alway seems to happen to me#Mac asks#maybe the fire ban will force me to use the old broken ass camp stoves that sit on top of a tall narrow propane bottle#you have to hold the pot constantly cause it'll tip over#better still#every bottle is so banged up that the bottoms are all round and extra tippy#to turn the stove on#you open the valve and the gas just fuckin..... comes out yknow#but we all use the little hand lighters so not only do you only have about a second to light the gas because the longer you wait the more#it builds up. which means you get a massive fucking flame and risk searing your eyebrows off I swear#but having a small lighter instead of the bbq ones means you have to stick your hand into the gas.... to light the gas.... and then pull#your hand OUT before the gas catches fire#I love camp#this fire ban is going to kick my ass though. those stoves are scary as hell#and I so rarely use them too because even when it rains I will light a fire dammit#one final fact is that these stoves are cheap so they don't have variable fuel output. so you can't have just a little gas to start#which would help to prevent the whole.... gas buildup ticking time bomb thing#instead it just comes out at max speed.#did I mention the camp stoves terrify me?#anyways wish me luck! ;)#(and they were never heard from again)

We have a new stove and oven because the other one broke and it's Different than the one we've had for nineteen years (since before I was old enough to try to cook) and that's intimidating so I haven't touched it yet but! I want to have rice. So! I'm going to try to learn it now and maybe successfully make a food. I believe in myself!
#actuallyautistic#it's electric and the other one was gas#so it looks like a toy with a sticker on it to make it look like a stove because the plastic mold it came from was flat#like one of those Legos with a control panel printed on#and when you turn it on there's no fire#which sounds like it should be /less/ scary#but still entirely possible to burn myself on the non-fire but with the heat being less visible#(there's just a little light)#so not really#like sneaky invisible fire#but I gotta feed myself#and if I live on my own someday the stove will be Different#and I can't afford to keep doordashing McDonald's every day#and I really do want to have rice#so let's try this#update: I procrastinated long enough typing tags that now my mom is in the kitchen watching TV on her tablet#so I gotta wait until after because I don't think I can do it with TV sounds on

Best and worst part about living alone is figuring out what's for din dins
#so many options. yet so little options#i made chinese and crispy tofu yesterday. i really cheffed it up in the kitchen#thought i might set the house on fire. i don't trust me with a pool of oil in a pan and a gas stove....#I'm obsessed and crave raspberry vodka and ben & Jerry's on a regular basis#which is an issue.#i had 7 full glasses of 2 shot raspberry vodka yesterday. drinking it like water atp💀#and i go through 1 tub of ben & Jerry's every 2 days lol#tragic#i love me some minestrone soup too. obsessed with that#when i say I'm obsessed with stuff. i take obsessed seriously. i literally will ALWAYS eat minestrone soup at work. daily.#you could bet your life on it that it's so certain.#minestrone soup is one of my healthier addictions <3#thing is living alone also means i forget to eat. like yesterday forgot about food until 10pm lmao#i haven't eaten today. also because the fridge is empty.#i couldn't be arsed to go food shopping#idek what i'd cook#need to plan tomorrow's dinner... and for a few days in advance so i don't have to go out loads lol

Just turned on the heating for the first time of the season... Already seeing money running away through the window 🙃
#misc#but mainly already stressing out about the weird noise and shit#calling the cleaning service tomorrow#i mean it's not like i turn it on for a long time#the boiler is on all the time to heat water#so no more risk of gas poisoning than usual#but this fear won't ever disappear#that and that shit suddenly breaking and no more heating and hot water#anywayyy#feel like i've been stressing about that every single year since i moved here#can't wait to be able to go somewhere with absolutely no fucking gas in the vicinity#genuinely don't know why I'm triggered so much by gas 🙃#like my parents have a gas stove#that need to be opened and lighted with a match/fire thing#and I always fucking hated it#I was less scared to light the chimney fire (but absolutely bad at it lmao)#and so several time i was supposed to cook when they left and they come back to me having a mental breakdown because i couldn't#cause i was scared#my grandma also have a gas stove but at least it ignites itself alone#anyway#im supposed to know how to behave around gas#and modern boilers are normally very secure#and also i don't know anyone around me that has been poisoned by gas#so i really have no explanation for that fear#it's like... something in my dna reacting to a primal threat#i overthinl at every little noise the boiler makes (and boilers make noise CONSTANTLY)#ughhhh hate it#(anyway money ain't the thing i fear most)#why am i rambling about this once again????

I hate landlords and hate apartment businesses that are literally so large that span across the entire US
#we had thought we were going to stay for another year#but the fire happened and now our place still smells like shit and they only offer just a carpet cleaning voucher and now we are even more#concerned about are barely functioning gas leak prone stove/oven and the multiple times of day cigarette and weed smell that gets in#our apartment#and we spoke to them to see if anything could be adjusted bc we have only 2 weeks to give them notice if we are staying or going#which we obviously really want out of now bc we dont feel safe#and also found out this placehas a hirtory of being prone to fires#but to be 'fair' and 'policy' they 'cant' do anything#which like if someone else went through this like to be fair#would be to get them proper accommodations to actually get them back to living in the regular environment as before since not everyone is#put through something that couldve likely been so preventable if they had fire extinguishers#and the word policy is just absolute shit way to say its just because 'we don't want to' even though it obviously would not#even effect them to accommodate

guy who has literally zero space on her bedroom walls to hang anything but has just been given free reign of the walls of the basement living room….. this is so huge
#ok i got to hang one framed puzzle and it’s a cute little cityscape#my mom would not like. let me put up a barbie poster in here for example#but this is huge still#beth.txt#when you’re the only person in the family that is ever in a certain room you get such privileges….#i also have a table in here fully blocking the second couch and no one has requested it be moved because no one sits there….#i should get a lava lamp out here to replace the other cool lamp my dad used to have in here back when he still used this room#there used to be a wood burning stove down here but a few years ago it caused a chimney fire so we replaced it with a gas stove#so now it’s not as warm down here in winter so he doesn’t care anymore#also no one else likes that the dvd player is ‘broken’#i use quotes because it’s NOT broken it’s just that the remote has very limited functionality that only i understand#which. some might consider it being broken. but it’s not ok not to me#<- guy who never thinks anything is broken voice

#it's so exciting and scary#also delighted to learn that we can afford much more house than i thought we could??#personal#biggest things on my wishlist#a nice backyard#a screened in back porch so my cats can be outside without being outside you know#a bathroom with a nice deep tub for soaking#a gas stove !!!#i can make most of these changes after the fact but id rather not have to u feel me#oh also at least 2 bedrooms but preferably 3#because 1 room for me and louis#1 room to use as a game room for our PC's a nerdy collector's items and what not#and a third room to use as a genuine guest room for when friends and fam come to visit#i'm manifesting the perfect house ok#oh and NO HOA!!!#fuck hoa's#no one gets tell me what to do with MY house that IIII paid for

I keep discovering all these awesome recipes that sound so cool and delicious but I am limited by a lack of cooking knowledge, a slim grocery budget and a stove that makes me ill and I think that's incredibly homophobic of the universe. Let me make chicken feta spinach burgers and potato salad. I am tired of microwaved food.
#I wasnt allowed to cook much growing up because the smell of food makes my mother ill#So I never really learned how to make anything more complex than scrambled eggs (which I had to learn from youtube mind you)#And now that I'm in my own house we have a gas stove and it makes me really nauseous/gives me awful headaches/makes it hard to breathe#So I still can't cook anything#We DID just get an air fryer which is awesome cuz now I can use an oven so to speak#But I can't make pasta in an air fryer#I don't think#Our air fryer came with a recipe book and some of these recipes sounds soooooo good#But it has one for chocolate cake in the air fryer and uh#I don't think. I don't think a pan can fit in there chief#It says the recipes are for this model but it's a 4 quart one and that cake calls for an 8inch pan like that's not happening
