The mechas advanced towards the unconscious figure, unwittingly presenting the Lieutenant with the option to escape.

For the briefest of moments, the firefighter dithered; wiping a trace of blood from her brow as she pondered the clearing.

A glance behind her confirmed that the IR operative was still out cold.

"Dammit"

Wrenching the pole free from the mecha; she swung it wildly at the remaining robots.

"You can't have her!" She snarled.

The scorpion drones turned, abandoning Kayo and started upon their new path towards the Lieutenant.

"Shit!"

Now, Lieutenant Tamara Fielding, was athletically fit by the average person's standards, but her skills in self-defence were limited to the basic bojutsu moves she had acquired as a teen in after-school club. The metal pole was a world away from the rattan staff she had once used, and the mechas would have likely wiped the floor with her coach.

Fielding dodged a lurch from the nearest mecha. Bringing the pole down heavily, the firefighter succeeded in damaging it's right claw. Electricity sparked from the exposed wires and the creature retreated to the back of its pack.

"We're en route to you now. Any injuries?"

"Can't...urgh...tell!" Tamara swiped at two which were splitting forces, herding her back towards a wall.

"Casualty appears...to be...breathing. Took...blow to her...head!"

"We're two minutes from your location now."

Tamara could hear their heavy breathing over Comms. Help was coming.

But the two mechas were now four and had her completely surrounded.

Still, if she was going to go down, she would do so fighting. She could buy Kayo time for the others to reach her at least.

I know you guys are waiting on an update, but I just can't seem to finish any of my new chapters for my stories. Even if I wanted to.

I told you how I wasn't doing well, and that I'm having some personal problems irl, right? Well the truth is that my mom's health worsened, she has gotten Reumatoid Arthritis since last year, keep in mind that my mother is 49, she is far too young to have it. It has nothing to do with genetics in her case, she just got it some time after she got the booster shot, which the docters say isn't the cause of her having it. But the problem is that her liver's gotten damaged afterwards, because of all of the medications she had to take for her Reuma, and at first the doctors told her that it wasn't that serious of a case, and they told her to keep taking her medications (which is a lot). Which she did, and this time after she went to her last check-up, they told her that her liver is at the stage of shutting down. So now they've told her to stop taking her medications, but I'm so angry, but most of all- I'm absolutely terrified. Terrified of losing my mum.

Before all this had happened, my mum finally had time for herself, to do what she wanted to do in this life. She's a single parent who had to take care of my siblings and I by herself, in an unfamiliar country, where she could not speak the language. My mum did everything for us to make us have a great childhood and for us to have a good education. She came from a war torn country, she was only 25 when she had me, which in my eyes is so young. I cannot imagine how it felt for her to go through all the things she went through in her life (alone), and still be on her feet. And then that happened, this isn't fair.

Life isn't fucking fair.

I do not want to think about what would happen were she to...yeah, I'm not even going to finish that sentence. My mum took it in 'stride' as she usually does with problems in her life, and the only thing she told me was that I would be the one in charge of my family and what I should do in such a case, which you all can imagine, I did not want to hear. Those fucking doctors kept on experimenting on her and this is what happened, it's because of their incompetence that she's gotten so sick. Which should never have happened to her in the first place, seeing as she comes from a family line of healthy people, this isn't natural.

We're looking for healthier and natural alternatives to help with her Reuma, like signing up for swimming as a hobby. And taking natural supplements, especially to try and repair her liver. Which is the most important thing right now.

I just don't know what to do, I'm looking for jobs at the moment so I could help my mum. But I just don't know anymore man. And if I have some time for myself I can't seem to truly rest, nor do the things I enjoy doing anymore- like writing for example, my laptop's opened in front of me right now, but I just can't. I'm so sorry to you all who were eagerly looking forward to new updates of any of my stories, and thank you all for your kind words, but I don't know if I can continue updating for some time.

It's 2023, and we're not post-covid, we're mid-covid,

Nearly 2 weeks ago my sister, in Perth, on her Facebook feed posted something to effect of...

My Brother-in-law had covid. My fully vaxxed brother-in-law who is on immunosuppressants to control lupus, has a low functioning thyroid, and diabetes HAS FUCKING covid, from somewhere. He needed hospitalisation in very short time, because of small clots in his lungs, and was released, after being immediately prescribed anti-virals. Then back in hospital again, then released. He is now back in hospital, again, with pneumonia. Now, let me explain this slowly. Lupus is an auto-immune disease, and to control it, you have to suppress the immune system. What they have to do, now, to fight the pneumonia, is to lessen how much they suppress the immune system, which won't be fun for his lupus.

Meanwhile, Huntress and I contracted covid over here in Adelaide. Officially our positive RATs didn't come until Wednesday and Thursday. The RAT I did on Tuesday (when I felt completely shithouse) was negative. There I was sleeping more often than not, smelling literally every bloody smell there was, and finding those smells really awful, my head feeling like it would burst, and the RAT was negative. Huntress did a RAT Wednesday, and Thursday morning showed me the faintest of red lines that showed her to be covid positive. I did another RAT then, and as soon as the fluid from the test dropper hit the line, it turned bright red, for me, no waiting for 15 minutes. I was feeling about 50% better by then, save for my sense of smell being very dull; I still felt like crap, but I wasn't surprised. While I was obviously improving, after Tuesday, Huntress was slowly feeling worse.

But Thursday was the 26th of January, and a public holiday, so there was no calling her GP. We called Huntress' Doctor Friday, and they were eager and insistent on Huntress attending a Respiratory Clinic, to organise a script for the anti-viral meds very quickly. Then the nurse urged us to call the ambulance to monitor her SpO2. That was done, and they were here for hours, but the end result was a script filled for the anti-viral by 6 o'clock that day.

It is day 5 or 6 now, on our own covid journey, and Huntress is improving faster than we hoped after two days of the anti-viral course. I'm smelling things again, and sleeping without waking up coughing every 20 or 30 minutes. Huntress, so far, has managed to avoid an ear infection, and pneumonia, which would cause all sorts of problems, as she is seriously allergic to all antibiotics, save some that really aren't useful at all. She is sleeping, and only experiences the odd coughing fit.

But my Brother-in-law is in a life or death battle, now.

Look, our Government has been defending their slack approach to covid, by trying to reassure us that "Most people are vaccinated, now."

Huntress is vaccinated, with one booster, but the last dose she had, unfortunately, brought on anaphalaxis, which required a day in the ED, and adrenaline shot, and a worry, now. She can't risk another dose, at least not of an mRNA vaccine.

So it's this simple. I was walking around, with covid, breathing this stupid virus... into my mask, because this is exactly the reason why I wear a mask. I get runny noses after one sneeze, all the time. That was no different to what happened on Monday, when I already had covid. My throat feels a little scratchy regularly, and my nose gets blocked weekly, thanks to just stuff in the air. Even if it was just the flu, on Tuesday, I wasn't going anywhere, because I was sick, and I didn't want to infect someone.

People need to remember, we're super infectious before we are even feeling sick, and there are people walking among us who, while they are doing everything they can to prevent being infected, we need to meet them halfway. My sister caught covid a few months ago, and moved into their caravan to completely isolate herself, and keep my Brother-in-law safe. But we need to wear masks, keep washing our hands, get vaccinated, and avoid crowded events and places. Because for some people, even doing all they can do, it isn't enough, and they need us to be brave and step up to do our bit, too.

Mech Construction Showcase: Armored Titan

Greetings, Dan here!

Today we're going to stretch the method of skinning mechanics to create a purely organic biomech in the form of the Armored Titan from Attack on Titan. Briefly, I know this would be a contested choice as many consider the Titan transformations as more of superpowers; however, these legendary titans do share a lot of similarities with mechs. They have a pilot that controls the body from an internal cockpit, multiple individuals can "pilot" one of the legendary titans (albeit over generations in this case), the body can be modified, and passengers can even be carried inside the cockpit. While the pilot is controlling the titan as an extension of their own body, they are still utilized in a method similar to mechs. Functionally they're meat mechs, and I would not be surprised if a player interested in making a biomech might want something similar. Regardless, this is meant to be a stretch of mechanic skinning as an example for similar scenarios that may pop up in groups. Naturally, any such stretch of the game would be left to the discretion of the player and GM to find a good fit for the group.

With that out of the way, The Armored Titan is a legendary Titan that is known for being covered in super durable, natural armor plating. It uses this to destroy structures, and strike opponents with devastating force, while also protecting it from most attacks. Because of this heavy plating, the Armored Titan is typically very slow. On rare occasions it can shed some of its armor to increase speed, but predominantly it is a heavy front line fighter. Lastly, Titans are known for their regenerative abilities, and this includes natural armor.

We will be building The Armored Titan as a starter mech, so some features may be left out for adding later, but we'll aim to capture the essence of the biomech to start. We'll start with a Blitz Frame for 24 Armor Points befitting a front line mech. Next, because this titan is slow, we'll stick with a Movement Rate of 1 from Caballero Boosters. Because titans have many defining abilities over weapons, we'll use a Blitz CPU for 2 Utilities. Lastly, we'll go with the Caballero Radiator for a Heat Rating of 8.

Though the Armored Titan would need more utilities to have all of its abilities from its franchise, for now we'll go with the Bioframe, initially for the descriptor, but also to represent when the pilot loses control to their base instincts. For the second utility system, we'll use a Shield Generator. This will add 10 Shield Points on top of the titan's AP, giving it more protection. An additional benefit to the utility is that it recharges 1 SP per round, which will represent the titan regenerating its natural armor. Beyond just skinning the mechanics of the utility, there is precedence for this in the BTE already, as in noximorphs, natural armor is represented as SP on top of their Health Points.

For the Weapon Systems, we'll construct a single kit at the start, putting all 8 HR into Armored Strikes. Since the legendary titan is a heavy hitter, we will spend four heat to raise the damage to a d10. For the RoF, we'll spend one heat for a single attack per round. Next for the ammunition, we will spend three heat for 8 Ammo. Lastly, the Armored Titan as with most titans is traditionally unarmed, so we will spend the remaining heat point for Melee range.

This build will allow for a player to pilot a biomech capable of packing quite the punch (literally), while also having more protection than your average frontline starting mech. As stated before, the titan could gain more abilities overtime as the equipment is improved. A player with this build could naturally improve their Frame or CPU. With additional utilities the biomech could pick up a Neural Interface for improved piloting, a Repair Swarm for further regenerative abilities, or even a Mobility Mode Converter for dropping off leg armor for added speed. Alternatively, this armor adjustment could be represented by installing a Mode Shift System mod to the weapon system, having the mode switch for a higher RoF at the cost of damage. Past these, the player may choose to increase their weapon options using an improved radiator or Disposable Equipment.

For next time, we'll go high end once more, as we revisit a non-humanoid mech with an abundance of weapon systems as we build Kiryu, also known as MFS-3 Mechagodzilla. Thanks once again for your interest. I look forward to seeing you for the full launch sometime this Fall!

Oh wow I really need to hop up on this one.

Not only the Avengers are a team made by the government and it's most of the time regulated by the government, their dynamics couldn't be more different.

JLA is based on insane levels of trust, community and mutual respect, even on their worst fights you rarely see them crossing a line, or getting back at each other. Avengers on the other side had so many nasty fights that shook their team to the core, that there were times their interactions were just downright painful to see.

JLA prefer to draw a really hard line between their personal lives and hero lives, going as deep as protecting their secret identity no matter what and very rarely minding each other's business (with the exception of close relationships they developed with eachother outside the JLA). Each one has a city or a place to protect and it's absolutely unthinkable to dictate how the other should do things.

And it's really funny how some people complain about how JLA act just as coworkers, when it's literally the fact they're so strict in dealing with hero business as coworkers that makes the JLA work so well as an organization. A situation like the Civil War would be really fucking doubtful to happen with the JLA team, because their whole superhero community (and agenda) is built under a strict code of reliability and work, first, personal matters second. If someone, anyone isn't trustful enough to work as a hero despite his personal life they shouldn't be aloud to work with them case, point, period.

You really don't see JLA just jumping on and welcoming a mercenary, hitman (woman? person?) or a ex-villain as an actual member. They might team up with them, but to actually get an invite you would need much more credit, then a will to do better, on your behalf.

Avengers on the other hand, being much more government focused and skill focused, (when we're speaking of missions and membership) are much more open to receive any kind of help that might be useful at the moment. Which is good if you think about the second chances they gave to people who needed (literally half of their team and the others who just worked for a short period of time or in small missions), but it's also not that good because the trust between them has broken off much more often and the uh-oh hydra/betrayal moments are also much more common.

Avengers also have a problem of mixing their interpersonal relationships with their super hero career (specially because most of them don't have secret identity's and even so they're are actual participant's of eachother personal lives almost all the time). While, when yo think about it JLA is much more cold and unpersonal, a really "my personal life and solo career isn't of your concern" type of deal and like can you imagine an avenger saying that to each other?? Impossible. They would immediately square up in the moment, mow if an JLA member says that, the other (no matter how pissed off they might be) would just endure shrugging off and going "well yeah you're right".

They also are mostly centered on New York, only one city when JLA has much more broad concept (which help with the unpersonal thing).

Now what you said about genuine is really interesting though. Because with the Avengers this thought is complicated. The JLA was made with the desire of save people in a much broader aspect, as a team and with organization. Pretty much every JLA member (except idk Booster? And even him eventually changed his mind) hopped off with this mindset, a hero mindset.

But, again not every Avenger was born a hero. Most of them had very different upbringings from the JLA, and most of them (thanks to the Marvel militar propaganda) has militar background or similar that kinda prevented them to have a normal life in the first place. So if we actually had to think about "why" and if it's genuine, we had to go to each one individually.

Like maybe Black Widow didn't hop on because she wanted to be a hero and save the inoccent, but she did wanted to be different, to make a difference. Same thing with Deadpool when he worked with them for a while. Does that counts as being as much valuable as chosing from your heart and desire to be someone people can count with as a hero? Idk depends on the person really.

The thing is, that all things considered, when you stop to analyze their teams and the people on it the more you understand how different they are and how different they work. How Avengers is more like a work project that a teacher keeps assigning and reassigning to them and they have to go along with it and the JLA is much more a independent movement that works with it's on organization and rules. How the people on Marvel tends on trust the Avengers way less than people on DC trusts the JLA and the Government (kinda. It depends which run you're reading) trusts the Avengers way more than it trusts the JLA. How personal heroes like Spider Man and Daredevil avoid working with the Avengers or have their own team, while almost every DC hero is part of JLA. How Spies, Mercenaries, Ex-Villains are common (half) Avengers and if you mentioned that on a JLA meeting Batman himself would study you in a chamber. How hero's are kind a "new" thing in the Marvel universe but in the DC they have been around for centures.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the justice league being labelled as " The Avengers of DC" and its like. No? The avengers are law enforcement. The Justice League are volunteers

Secret Bosses and Human Souls

a lot of folks were surprised by the sudden appearance of the yellow soul in Spamton Neo's fight. it did seem very random at the time, but now i think this is done to solidify Spamton's story arc, like the final nail in the coffin.

the yellow soul's trait in Undertale, as we see in the ball game, is Justice. if we get the yellow flag, we're greeted with a description of how the soul acts in battle, and its characteristics. this is done for every soul.

"sure-fire accuracy" fits the souls theme of shooting at a target, which is tied to the yellow soul's weapon, an empty gun. the description is reminscent of a western movie where the heroes and bad guys fight, if we consider the armor which is the cowboy hat.

how does this relate to Spamton?

aside from the obvious "KRIS! WAS THAT A [[Big Shot]] JUST NOW??" comment he makes when using the special ability which i call a "booster", i wanna show you this dialogue at his shop:

"heaven-piercing" "shoot for the sky" ...alright

Spamton's whole quest about becoming a big shot also reminds me of old western movies in a way. "get on the path to the big one" sounds very much like a character from this setting shooting up other "big shots" to take their place, kind of like a list you cross names out.

Spamton using the big ass firing weapon that came with the neo body is also very telling in my opinion. lol

but what's even more interesting is how the Justice theme applies to Spamton. we don't see much of this in the pacifist/neutral route but in genocide? Spamton goes absolutely power mad, even going as far as to aid two teenagers forced into mass murder just to sneak into the palace in a very villainesque way. Spamton feeling like he has been betrayed is nothing new. we get this vibe in pacifist from the way he talks about his former friends and Mike, and we see how hypocritical he is because once he got his hands on the neo body, he outright betrayed the one who helped him get there in the first place.

it's clear that he craves justice for everything that happened to him. and even more fitting is how he acts when taking over the mansion like a megalomaniac, he twists and warps the concept of justice into revenge. there's an additional layer of betrayal when Kris goes to seal the fountain, as he gets furious with you and likens this situation to whatever happened between him and Mike/the tv character.

it's only fitting that Spamton Neo evokes the yellow soul, the very symbol of justice in his fight. it's what he didn't get.

Jevil is the same way. one could argue that Jevil has no soul mode, and yes, his fight defaults to the red soul.

as we know, the red soul is kind of an anomaly in Deltarune (and maybe in Undertale too). in Asgore's flower shop, we have a golden flower in the center right next to a yellow flower while the other ones have the same colors as the rest of the human souls. there's no red flower. Kris treats the soul as some kind of anomaly in their body, too, snatching it out of their chest and violently throwing it somewhere to keep it in place. i have a few theories regarding the red soul and the player, though that's not what i want to discuss here.

do you ever notice how the red soul's theme or "trait" seems to be freedom? which is painfully ironic given Kris's puppeteering, and how it affects their life. Spamton wants the soul for himself, thinking it would set him free and let him see past the dark, and even if he did get it, it wouldn't help him at all. the soul's theme being freedom (and control) ties into how it has free movement in the arena. it was made specifically to dodge bullets, that's its main characteristic. see the description of what the red represents in the ball game:

considering the fact the green soul's movement is focused on the shield mechanic, the blue soul is bound by gravity and the purple soul moves in horizontal lines (restricted movement) makes me think the red soul is special.

how does this relate to Jevil? well, for one, Jevil constantly goes on about how he's the only free one due to his self awareness and how he's locked away from the narrative in a way. you only find Jevil if you go to him, the fact his cell is located in a floor named "??????" feels like some type of bait for the player's curiosity. isn't it interesting how Jevil's freedom speech falls flat due to the very knowledge he has? even if he finds a loop hole ("if nothing matters, then than means i can do anything") it doesn't take him too far. he got rightfully imprisoned for attacking people in the kingdom, or as he says, playing games with them. he failed just like Spamton did, though his case is a bit different.

the secret bosses' soul modes are a clear reflection of what they desperately want and fail to achieve.

I've been ignoring DC comics for about a decade, but I just noticed Ted Kord is alive again? For reals this time?? When did that happen? (I did try googling this, but the various wikis I looked at only left me more confused. Ahh, comics!)

He is! It makes zero sense! They basically just got tired of him being dead so now he's back and I think he's supposed to not ever have been dead in the first place but a lot of things that happened because of his death still happened so...yeah.

Here's the timeline:

During the New 52, Ted showed up for one page at the end of the Forever Evil event, clearly very young and not yet a superhero. Literally nothing ever happened with this.

Then for the Rebirth Blue Beetle series in 2016, we got a book starring Jaime and Ted as his annoying mentor. It would have been everything I ever wanted except it was awful. This Ted is retired from superheroing (mostly) but based on one throwaway line, I got the impression he didn't know Booster and they didn't have their old history.

In Heroes in Crisis in 2018 (so still part of the Rebirth universe), Tom King wrote Ted and Booster as if their entire history was intact - they have been best friends for ages, they were on the JLI, they're considered jokes - because he is shamefully lazy about character development and continuity. No mention is made of Ted's death.

Since then, every time Ted has appeared, he's treated like the pre-New 52 version. No comic has ever mentioned his death and certainly not a resurrection, so I have to assume he didn't die.

However, it is absolutely current canon that Max is a villain, that Diana snapped his neck about it, and that he came back to life. How any of that happens if Ted didn't die, I have no idea.

Obviously I'd rather have Ted alive than dead, but the laziness of it annoys me. Either give Ted a dramatic resurrection (I do not require it to make sense, I just require Booster to cry), or reintroduce him (and Booster and Jaime) and build that reader investment from scratch. Don't just slide him back onto the game board when we're not looking. This way is just a completely missed opportunity.

It was hard to believe that you and Sonny had been together seven years, married for four and three kids. This was the weekend you had been looking forward to for months. A chance for you and Sonny to get some alone time. Let’s face it, after the last couple of years reconnecting is exactly what was needed.

The destination was upstate New York and as much as you wanted to keep it a secret to surprise Sonny, there was just no way with his schedule. That was okay though because he only knew about the trip, not what you had planned while at the resort.

“Who’s excited about a weekend at Nonna and Nonno Carisi's house?” you asked the kids as you packed their bags.

“Noona said we're going to make cookies. I get to pour stuffs into the bowl,” Autumn said. “She said Nonno isn’t allowed in the kitchen because he eats the dough.”

“It’s my job to put the sprinkles on the cookies,” Emilia announced.

“Well, you both have very big jobs,” you commented. “What’s Jakey’s job?”

Autumn sighed. “Momma, he’s a baby. He can’t have a job.”

“Oh, yes. You’re right,” you replied. Autumn was matter of fact, just like Sonny. Emilia was going to be your free spirit, like you. Maybe Jake would be a mix of mild and wild.

“Hello!” Mama Carisi called out as she came through the door.

“Nonna!” Autumn shouted. Both girls took off down the hall to answer the door.

“My darling girls!” she said, gathering them in her arms.

Picking up Jacob, you made your way to the front room. “Hi Ma,” you said in greeting, giving your mother-in-law a hug.

“Hello sweetheart,” she said. “Are you excited?”

You handed over Jacob when he reached out to her. “I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks. I and Sonny really need this trip.”

“You guys deserve it,” she replied.

After helping Ma load the bags and get the car and booster seats strapped in, you gave hugs and kisses to everyone then watched as she pulled out of the driveway. Now pack the last few things in your bags and wait for Sonny to get home. Which would be in about 2 hours.

“Hey, babe. Are you close?” you asked Sonny when you answered the phone.

Sonny sighed. “That’s why I’m calling. I’m not going to make it to drive to the airport with you. I’ll have to meet you there. I’m so sorry.”

“Oh, well, that’s okay. I’ll call an Uber,” you responded.

“See you in a little bit. I love you,” Sonny said.

“Love you too.”

The longer you sat in the hard plastic seat the madder you became with Sonny. Hot, angry tears spilled down your cheeks. You knew when he called to tell you he’d meet you at the airport that he wasn’t coming even if he didn’t know. It wasn’t the first time he had let you down. While it probably wasn’t intentional, it still hurt.

After you wiped the tears from your face you looked up to see Sonny running in your direction.

“I am so sorry,” he said as he tried to catch his breath. “I got caught up at work, then hit traffic-”

“Don’t bother with the excuses, Sonny. We missed the flight,” you informed him.

“Well, maybe there’s a later flight, or we could get a flight early in the morning,” he said desperately, scanning the desk for an attendant.

“There’s not another flight for two days,” you stated, grabbing your purse and overnight bag you stomped away.

“Then we’ll rent a car and- hey what are you doing?” he asked.

“I’m going home,” you answered.

Sonny caught up with you. “I’ll make this up to you.”

“Whatever,” you said. You scanned the line of cars looking for the Uber you ordered.

“I’m serious,” he said. “We’ll go wherever you want to go.”

“I don’t even want to be in the same car with you right now, let alone go on a trip with you. You ruined everything,” you fumed. Spotting the Uber you made your way over to it and climbed in the car. Sonny stood forlorn on the curb as you pulled away.

By the time Sonny got home, you were sitting at the kitchen island 3 glasses into a bottle of wine.

Sonny threw his keys on the island, took off his jacket, and threw it across the stool. He leaned on the island looking at you. “Mind if I join you?” he asked, gesturing to the bottle.

“Help yourself,” you said.

Sonny poured what remained in the bottle into the wine glass then took a sip. “You’re still mad.”

You scoffed. “I’m not mad, Sonny. I’m past that.”

Sonny let out an audible sigh. “Good. I am sorry, doll. The judge took forever to come back with the search warrant and I had to be the one to make sure it was executed.”

“I know,” you responded. Standing you put the glass in the sink. “I’m going to bed.”

“You said you weren’t mad,” Sonny said.

“And I’m not.”

Sonny furrowed his brow. “Then what’s going on?”

“You know to be so damn intelligent, you sure can be obtuse sometimes,” you answered, crossing your arms over your chest. “I’m hurt and disappointed. This trip has been planned for months. And once again your job took precedence over me.” You bit your lip to help hold back the tears that were stinging your eyes.

Sonny rounded the island. “Y/N, I’m so sorry. I really am.” He reached out to touch your arm but you jerked away.

Sniffling, you wiped away tears from your eyes. “Sonny, I’ve heard that so many times but nothing changes.”

Sonny turned away and started pacing. “Don’t you think I know that? Do you think I enjoy not having dinner with my family, not tucking my kids into bed at night? Huh?” Sonny’s hands waved in the air as he talked as they often did, no matter the topic or his mood. When he turned back to face you, his eyes were filled with tears. “I’m a failure as a father, and husband. And work, that’s a whole other story.”

Oof. The weight he was bearing was evident now. How long had he felt like that? Why didn’t you notice? And why didn’t he think he could come to you?

“Sonny, you’re not a failure,” you said softly through your own tears.

Sonny sighed. “Sure feels like it. I really am sorry, doll.”

“I know you are. I over-reacted,” you said.

Sonny walked over to you, tipping your chin up. “You didn’t over-react.” He brushed tears from your cheek.

“I wish you would’ve talked to me about what’s going on,” you said, resting your hands on Sonny’s waist.

“I know. You have your own stuff going on with work, the kids, and school and I didn’t want to bother you,” Sonny said.

“You’re never bothering me, Sonny.”

Sonny touched his forehead to yours. “Can we reschedule the trip?’

You leaned back to look at Sonny. “Yeah, but it is going to be somewhere better than upstate. I’m thinking sunny beaches and cocktails.”

“It’s a deal.” Sonny leaned down and pressed his lips to yours.

Experimented a bit, here to report.

Tried: Hisuian Goodra, Skeledirge, Ceruledge, Mimikyu, Galarian Slowbro, Iron Hands, was gonna try my luck with Farigiraf but then I noticed its moveset does not include decent defense boosters, so I gave up preemptively.

Of these, the only one who succeeded was Skeledirge, but it wasn't much easier than with Bellibolt. Will leave the build down here just for the sake of completion :)

(I'd still like to try with some other poison types if I have the time - particularly looking at Muk, Swalot, Glimmora, Revavroom, Overqwil)

Tera type: Fire

Ability: Unaware (hidden)

Item: Shell Bell

Nature: Modest (/Quiet/Rash will do)

IVs: max HP, def., sp.atk., sp.def.

EVs: 252 defense, 252 special attack, 4 HP

Moveset: -Torch Song (level up) (PP Up recommended) -Fire Blast (level up) -Sunny Day (TM) -Slack Off (egg move, see Slakoth & Hippopotas lines)

Usage:

the cool thing about Skeledirge is that its hidden ability, Unaware, makes it ignore the opponent's stat changes, meaning that you only have to worry about Rillaboom's raised attack when he wipes your stat changes, which is when he also locks your ability for one turn. Great typing makes it immune to normal and fighting type moves (3 moves in Rillaboom's set, including the one that paralyses!), resistant to grass, and only neutral to flying. Acrobatics is one of the least powerful of the bunch in this fight, so yay us. Given all of that, Intimidate-having NPCs are less important (yet still useful for that single turn), Arboliva is actually beneficial since we're not getting attacked with grass moves so often and it brings some extra healing, and paralyzing/burning allies are even better.

The trick is to increase Skeledirge's special attack via continuos Torch Songs, but only after the player-side stat wipe. We still have to use Torch Song to bring his health down enough to trigger that, so start attacking. IMPORTANT do not terastallize as soon as you can, wait a minute. Once the shield is up and you see Rillaboom reset your stat changes and nullify your ability, play safe by using 1-2 defensive cheers, then hold your horses and start building you special attack up by using Torch Song 6 times. This is the critical part, because since Rillaboom is shielded and you're not terastallized, you're inflicting less damage and thus healing less with Shell Bell. When you find yourself in the 100-130 HP left range, use Slack Off to heal. Probably gonna be 2 times. Once you have the +6 special attack bonus, Slack Off once again if you're around half life or less, use Sunny Day, and ONLY NOW terastallize. The reason we didn't do that before is that by becoming a pure fire type we lose immunity to a lot of moves and, while Boomburst isn't that worrisome, Low Kick hits Skeledirge quite hard, and Body Slam does that plus chance of paralysis. And we want to keep the number of wasted turns to a minimum.

Once that's done, no need to set up anything else, start Fire Blasting. You basically won't need to heal anymore too, since you're now dealing big damage >:) the worst that can happen is you fail because of accuracy, and that CAN make you lose the battle, but less powerful moves weren't enough when I tried. Middle risk high damage strategy. You could try to spam Torch Song and bring Blast Burn(TM) to use for a last-turn-only damage burst, but I haven't done that so I can't vouch for it. Overheat sounds good but you'd still have to use more Torch Songs after that to make up for the loss of special attack.

TL;DR: Torch Song, until Rillaboom nullifies your stat changes, then 2x Hang Tough cheers + 6x Torch Song interspersed with Slack Offs when low HP (100-130), Sunny Day, terastallize after Sunny Day, then Fire Blast until end.

Pros: -available in the game natively -no need to change the tera type -less dependent on allies, so less time spent on resetting -you'll be done setting up before the shield is down, and it's a bit easier to survive after that Cons: -hidden ability and can't be found in tera dens (yet), so you either need an ability patch or to know someone who can breed you one -starter, so maybe you have it maybe you don't. -still pretty slow to set up -once terastallized, can be paralyzed -dps strategy relies on a low accuracy move, could be necessary to try more than once

If it looks familiar, it's because it is the same Bellibolt from the Walking Wake/Iron Leaves guide, literally just took it out of the box and tried it and it worked. Just swapped Light Screen with Electric Terrain.

Usage:

Rillaboom has mostly physical attacks + one special move (Boomburst)(not so dangerous, low special attack). Wipes your stat modifications the turn after his shield went up, wipes his own the turn after the shield went down.

The biggest threat is the fact that he has TWO (2) attack-boosting moves, Growth and Bulk Up. By the end of the fight he'll have them used ~4 times... which brings us to the important part of the fight

RESET FOR THE RIGHT NPC ALLIES

-favour pokémon with the ability INTIMIDATE. One is necessary and technically sufficient, two is ideal, three is an unicorn but if it happens it's good! (They are: Tauros, Staraptor, Arcanine)

-optional: Dudunsparce, Umbreon and Drifblim can apply paralysis/burn status and it helps, either with the occasional free turn or the very welcome attack debuff. In theory Sylveon has Charm but I can't recall seeing it use it...? If you got an Intimidate mon but none of these, it should work just fine, try your luck.

-IMPORTANT if you get Arboliva RUN AWAY and retry. Rillaboom already generates Grassy Terrain on turn one making his grass type move the most dangerous, no need to prolong that suffering for the rest of the fight.

What you're gonna do is: Electric Terrain on turn one (gets rid of the Grassy Terrain, making Drum Beating weaker and helping with at least one Parabolic Charge's damage) OR Reflect (protects against all physical moves but no offensive boost for you). Only use one or the other, don't waste turns in my experience Electric Terrain worked better but maybe it's just me.

Then the usual 3x Acid Spray - you will die in the middle, after the first or second Acid Spray, don't panic. IMPORTANT if you manage to get all 3 done before dying, but end up with less than half life, DO NOT TERASTALLIZE. You'll just die the next turn and lose your terastal. Rillaboom is very fast, if your Bellibolt's nature is Quiet his speed is more than double yours, don't think you can heal at this point! Let yourself faint.

Terastallize when you're sure you'll survive, and go with the 2-3 Parabolic Charges that you need to break the shield.

Now, this point is a bit weird, there's a chance of the game bugging a bit with the order of action but use either Acid Spray or Parabolic Charge. [Technical rant here: in theory Acid Spray is the one you should select - Rillaboom will get rid of his own stat debuffs before you attack, meaning that his special defense goes back up to neutral again and you start getting it down on the same turn, but sometimes for some reason you attack first and he resets his stats after, and if he attacks on the same turn you find yourself with less HP on Bellibolt, and neutral special defense on Rillaboom, it's weird. Keep an eye on what happens during the previous turns and act accordingly I guess.]

In any case, the post-shield fight will have you alternating Acid Spray - Parabolic Charge - Acid Spray - Parabolic Charge, etc. Rillaboom's attack will likely be at +3 at this point, so you can only really spare one turn at a time to mess with stats before you need to heal. Two Acid Sprays should be enough, but if you have the time and the life you can use it a third time. Much more likely that you'll only have the time to do that only twice though, and then finish with 1-3 Parabolic Charges, it should hit hard enough by then.

TL;DR: Electric Terrain/Reflect on turn 1, Acid Spray x3, die and resurrect anytime during the Acid Sprays, terastallize, Parabolic Charge until end of the shield, Acid Spray > Parabolic Charge > Acid Spray > Parabolic Charge > Parabolic Charge spam

Pros:

-it's literally a returning build. Reduce Reuse Recycle!

-no transfer required from other games

-immune to the secondary effect of Body Slam (paralysis)

-idk check the last time's pros

Cons:

-bit slow, bit too close with the time limit

-heavily dependent on NPCs 😞 sorry

Hey there, recent follower here! I’ve seen a lot of your posts regarding the freedom convoy, and I’m reaching out for more info. As far as I understand (and I could be wrong, or had the argument misrepresented to me) the protest is over COVID restrictions. Is that true? If so, do you support the removal of COVID restrictions?

Thanks for your time! 💜 Not trying to start a fight, just trying to get your read on things.

It's about the removal of the mandates ya, good portion of the people involved are vaccinated and aren't opposed to vaccinations provided they aren't forced on others.

I fall into that camp myself, I got my shots no booster yet but that's partly because I'm plenty healthy and not terribly concerned and partly because I'm sick of hearing all the crap about how evil people that don't get 37 shots are and I'm just feisty enough that I'd rather annoy them.

I'm also in the camp that sees the point of view of the folks that don't want to get the jab, one of the primary concerns I've picked up from that camp is that there is no long term data on them.

Which is obviously impossible, can't have a 5 year study on a 2 year old vaccine, but the concern is valid in my opinion and one that should be respected.

Especially given the line of people both medical professionals and not that were totally wrong about the vaccine stopping covid in it's tracks, people were flipping out at the start of 'breakthrough' infections and now they're just a statistic to be considered.

If they hadn't been totally wrong about that and breakthroughs had only been something like 5% of total cases after the fact I might have leaned the other way a bit but still not totally.

We've also got one of the most unvaccinated demographics that never really seems to get mentioned when people talk about "antivaxxers" who I also can totally see their point of view.

Black Americans have a lower vaccination rate than any other demographic by the last set of numbers that I saw, again for good reason.

Feel free to click on that and see why that particular demographic might be a bit wary about these shots or anything the govt says.

This is a long way around to say that yes I support the truckers goals of getting the mandates lifted, especially for things like crossing the border for commerce and the over the top mask mandates all over the place.

This is a woman who has been pushing mask mandates especially for schools, visiting a school, posing for a picture with masked students, totally maskless herself.

Got oodles of pics of different people that scream and yell about masks being hypocrites about it.

Why should anyone wear one if the people screaming the loudest about them don't feel the need to wear them.

Then as it concerns the crossing the border, if you're coming across legally for business or pleasure you have to be vaccinated.

People crossing the border illegally on the other hand not so much, we can't do it against their will either, which is good we shouldn't do that, but they shouldn't get to stay if they aren't.

If we're going to be having people playing by the same rules, but instead they get to stay and get their court dates and go off into the wind.

So many double standard, and I'm a person that believes in fairness and at this point the people in charge have made it so that my position is easy to stand at since they seem to think the rules don't apply to them or other protected classes.

I'm sorry if this comes off disjointed, I'm not great at keeping a cohesive narrative going I tend to jump from point to point blame it on adhd and dyslexia.

I think the truckers are in the right here, people should be free to make their own medical decisions about themselves when it comes to new medicines we don't have any long term data on.

The only time I can think of that I've gone well that was the best way too do it was the guy that first synthesized insulin who just walked around and started shootin people up with it.

That's because at that point the people he put it in were gonna be dead in a few hours without something so why the hell not, and it worked.

I think a lot of currently hesitant people will be more receptive to these shots in the future, after we see if they're safe from long term issues or not.

Till then forcing people to do it is bad.
