Israeli here. A few days ago I saw someone post something about an "anti-Palestine song that was popular in Israel" and I would like to the set the record straight. The song in question is called "Harbu Darbu" (חברו דרבו) by the duo Ness and Stilla. Despite what people may think, no, it is not an "anti-Palestine song". It is very much an anti-HAMAS song. It's essentially a diss track. The song came out about a month after October 7th and was a hit because it was pretty much the first thing that made Israelis smile after October 7th. It's honestly kind of silly, full of slang and in-jokes that just made everyone feel a little bit better. The word "Palestine" is mentioned only twice in the whole song, and it is in reference to a joke Israelis make about the anti-Israel movement. Not once are the Palestinian people or Gaza even mentioned. The only enemy they refer to are Hamas, the terrorists that took part in the attack, and Hezbollah. The whole point of "Harbu Darbu" was to boost moral and say "we have one of the greatest armies in the world, we're going to be okay". Which is why it honestly kind of pisses me off that the anti-Israel crowd treats it like it's some rallying cry against the Palestinian people. Aside from the fact that simply not true, IT'S NOT A SONG FOR AN INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE, IT IS FOR ISRAELIS. That's why it's in Hebrew, that's why all of the jokes are ones that only Israelis understand. This was one of the ways we dealt with the horrors we experienced. This is was made us smile after a month of tears. Are we not allowed to have silly little songs that make us laugh? Why do we own the world an explanation for every single thing we do, even for silly diss tracks that they don't even understand?

Oh, and the bit at the end of the song about Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa and Mia Khalifa? Those three women who have been extremely anti Israel for years and praised Hamas? Yeah, Israel as a collective fucking hates them. Sorry they got their feelings hurt because of a diss track.

Despite this other side of this argument (from what I’ve seen) claiming communism there seems to be a strange Democracy of the Dollar undercurrent to this argument. That this arrangement and its machinations are just because there is a buyer continuing to supply demand, and if we criticize the “buyers” we are harming “suppliers”. In our current circumstances, sex work is stigmatized because it is seen as a criminal act that both the john and worker partake in. It is individualized as a social evil effecting only those who are involved. Pulling back the scope to show how this exchange is socially informed and how that can ultimately harm workers across multiple exchanges does not create the same stigma. It can, surprisingly, lead to beneficial changes for both parties. While I wish sex workers would not need to perform under coercion, I believe in harm reduction over prohibition and that doesn’t mean “no holds barred” on what can be considered ok and not. It means everyone has to change their mindset for the betterment of those who can’t choose, even if it means it’s a little harder for you to get your rocks off however and whenever you want.

So I'm going to go into what each celeb did to be antisemitic, what the lyrics about them mean in English and why its not about them being Palestinian, arab or pro Palestine.

On the surface it does seem weird to have beef with an ex porn star however it's less so beef and moreso calling out problematic celebrities.

All of the celebs mentioned have either participated in antisemitism or supported Hamas/oct 7th. It's not just because they're Palestinian (Bella Hadid) or arab (Mia Khalifa) or dated a Palestinian (Dua Lipa).

Bella Hadid has spread blood libel. Her and Gigi have been called out many times over the years for their antisemitism. You can only accidentally be antisemitic so many times before it goes from "whoopsie didnt realize this was antisemitic" to "I'm hiding my antisemitism as an accident and not knowing better even though I do know better and hate jews"

Dua Lipa has claimed that what Israel is doing is ethnic cleansing which is false and rooted in blood libel. She has also shared a post on her Instagram in the past which states that Israeli jews are fake jews.

Mia Khalifa has tweeted "Can someone please tell the freedom fighters in Palestine  to flip their phones and film horizontal." And she also posted a photo of hamasniks in a ute on their way to attack jews with the caption "Renaissance painting".

She posted a photo of herself drinking wine that was made in Reims in France when Nazis controlled Reims and had the caption "my wine is older than your apartheid 'state'". So you know, she was boasting about drinking wine made during the time when jews were being taken from France to nazi camps to be killed.

There is just so much she has done too.

Now going into the lyrics of the song, in English it goes

Please keep in mind that not every language directly translates into English with perfect accuracy. However the line essentially just means "Karma is gonna get you"

It's not calling for those celebs to be killed. It just saying that Karma will get them.

Random thing about Kevin Can F**k Himself is that while that's in no way the major or even intented reading of her characther and I love what she represents to woman as a trans man I related so much with Patty.

She was exactly who I was in high school. I was deeply closeted and represed and so I acted very much like a "not like the other girls pick me". Most of my friends were asshole guys who let me hang with them but never fully belong, I was there but still in a more subservient role and only at the cost of accepting the way they putted woman down and letting them put myself down. One of my high school "friends" would exclusivaly call me Mia Khalifa unless he was using other porn actresses names to put me down, I was not even engaging in what the guys saw as "slut behavior" as an ace guy with low romantic atraction but since I was seen as woman it was a way to keep me in my place. He would joke about how I should give things to him because he was the man but also I was the one all of them came for when they needed therapy.

Not all the guys were assholes. One of them - wjo unfortunally died this year and I don't actually want to talk much about him cause I'm processing my grief and don't want to - was genuinally kind and wanted to learn, he started transphobic and changed his views, I never came out to him, a thing I deeply regret, but he would defend queer ppl when the other guys were saying shit and never treated me like less.

But most of them were. And if I complained I lost my priviledges over being "one of the guys" and was seen as week and "oh yeah you're an emotional woman". So I kept there. I was the weird kid with few friends and not only that but I felt validated, I felt gender euphoria, it was the closest I would ever had to be one of the guys and I did feel jealous of one of them for looking a lot like me (according to everyone else) but having the body parts I wanted. It was the place I felt still shitty but not as much as everywhere else. And feeling less like crap was enought.

And I'm not this almost incel totally punching bag person anymore. All my friends are queer and I'm out to them now. I don't hate myself and I don't have to fake laugh or unconfortably nod about people putting woman down for an inch of acceptance. I don't think I could ever go back to being that person. But I was where Patty is. I was the token minority of entitled guys that think the world is a sitcom. And I feel so much for her.

Because in another world I could have been Patty, I could have not had the chance to grown out of it in high school and instead be still the sad subservient "woman" that is "one of the guys" and "can take jokes" and there's very few things worse than that.

Seriously though, some basics about the conflict:

Can you criticize Israel without being anti-Semitic?  Yes

Can you criticize Israel for it’s military actions?  No.  According to the rules and customs of warfare, Israel has never started a war, and never committed warcrimes.  Hamas basically commits warcrimes every few years.  Israel will literally call every cellphone they know about in an area to tell them before they attack.  Not saying there are not other things to criticize Israel about.

Is Israel Apartheid?  No.  Muslims in Israel have more rights than any pretty much any Islamic country.

Does one side have higher historic rights?  No.  Palestinian is a word that only came into use after they tried to genocide the Jews, and ended up on the wrong side of the wall.  The Jews were there because they had pooled their money to buy land.  At the time, they were simply known as Arab Muslims.  The name Palestine was used by the British to refer to a section of the former Ottoman Empire that they were going to break up into self-directing polities.  It’s name has not really been used since the Romans invaded.

What happened?  What always happens.  Hamas attacks Israel, normally targeting civilian populations.  Israel retaliates.

What’s, if anything, is different this time?  Social media.  We have live footage of all of the cheering for the death of Israeli civilians.  This is something that has happened every time Hamas does this, but now everyone has a video camera in their pocket.

If Israel is not evil, why do they control the Palestinian sections, (West Bank of the Jordan, and Gaza Strip)  Why don’t they let them be free?  Israel has, since before it was even a country, offered a LOT of territorial concessions in exchange for peace. Hamas, or the political groups that came before it, have always refused.
