thoughts on enogiri ?
Yeah, yeah!
Honestly, I really love imagining them pre-Killing Game.
I love the idea of Kyoko Kirigiri who has no idea about anything regarding love or relationships and who is always and only detective and who doesn't intentionally keep herself closed off or separate from her classmates but just naturally is those things - like, let's be real, Kyoko has never really had a childhood. Jin tried up until he abandoned her, and even then, she was going on constant trips with her grandfather, she was never really staying in one location for very long, Kyoko has no idea how to actually have a friend at all and has been taught that friendships and family and all that other stuff MUST be seen as LESS THAN being a detective - and, yes, Yui tried, but the entirety of Danganronpa Kirigiri is Kyoko having a moment and then closing back up again because hey, look, this hurt, and I screwed up by trying, and I'm never gonna forget that I screwed up and I can't do this again - that's what the gloves are for!
So like. Kyoko who is this bundle of trauma and training and doesn't know how to people even if she wanted to people and isn't sure that she does want to people because the one time she did people it literally, quite literally blew up in her face--
Being literally adopted by Junko Enoshima who does not know how to keep her mouth shut and cannot take no for an answer and it does not matter how much Kyoko goes off by herself, Junko is going to chase after her because no, you are my friend now, and you don't get to escape this, I'm choosing you, and I don't care, and you're MINE.
Because let's be real. Junko preys on the vulnerable. And when it comes to interpersonal relationships, Kyoko is vulnerable. Kyoko is very strong in who and what she is, although she occasionally has doubts over the whole being a detective is more important than the people you care for thing, but she's very secure in who and what she is.
And Junko says, look, here is this entire world you are shutting yourself off from, and I want you to be part of it, and I'm not taking no for an answer. You don't have to be with anyone else, but you have to be with me, and you're going to like it, and you're going to like me, you're going to love me, even if you don't want to, even if you're scared and vulnerable. Even if no one else wants you, I want you.
Choose me.
Kyoko being warmed by that. Because she really, truly is alone. And she doesn't want to be. And when someone as insistent as Junko reaches out and says you don't have to be alone, eventually Kyoko will say okay and cling to the one person that she has. Because she's all she has.
And that's what Junko wants.
Abusers take lengths to separate their victims from their support system, but if we're honest here? Kyoko never had a support system. Her dad abandoned her. Her grandfather thinks she's just fine on her own. Yui is dead. Her mom is dead. Her other grandfather is dead. Kyoko has Kyoko.
....
And, in this case, Junko.
Who is exactly not the person you want her to have.
(Junko doesn't have to convince Kyoko she's alone. Kyoko already knows that. Junko just has to convince her that she's the only one who will push through her barriers and stick with her no matter what. And that's not hard.)
Semi-Related, someone made a comment early on with OAEI (that's...the fic I've been posting; I'll link to it) that the first game feels very much like it's Junko and Kyoko's story, like Kyoko is meant to be the protagonist and Makoto's...there and not really a concern until after Kyoko goes to bring him back, and like. (They did a much better job explaining this than my overview.) That rings so true to me. So much of THH is so personal to Kyoko, from the murder of her dad to the tidbits that are left for her, specifically, to find (and are absolutely NOT meant for Makoto, which is why he gets knocked out and has the relevant secret information stolen from him), to the endgame investigations revealing that Kyoko was still her dad's password (which means, yes, he did still care about her) and the present of her dad's bones wrapped up just for her to find--
Makoto's the protagonist, sure, and he becomes the Ultimate Hope, sure, but the Killing Game is so much about the relationship between Junko and Kyoko.
The whole thing is a murder mystery.
A present.
Wrapped up for her girlfriend.
Because she loves her.
With the end driving her into despair just the same as Junko is.
(Except for Makoto getting in the way.)
I just.
I love the dynamic of them so much. I love exploring them.
They're cute.
#musings#anonymous#bandit answers questions#danganronpa#enogiri#junko enoshima#kyoko kirigiri#dr1#and like...i like to play around with whether or not junko is intentionally preying on kyoko's vulnerabilities or not#because i think junko /does/ love her#and kyoko even looking at junko post-dr0 as the one lead she has left into the case that she's definitely not investigating anymore nope#and that they're both using each other#like there's so much there that can be delved into#and i love that about them and their dynamic#as a writer it's fun to play around with#(but also like#you can look into my posts on writing oaei#at the very beginning starting it and like#'wait is this an enogiri fic is that what this is going to be'#and then 'oh i guess it is huh okay well then'#XD)

wait, junko and yasuke officially kiss in Dr0??
Volume 2, Chapter 6
and its later reiterated by Yuto in Chapter 12
(included Ryoko's crashout too bc damn, girl could NOT catch a break)
and we KNOW this is Real Junko because both Mukuro and Matsuda confirm it in Chapter 14
(i love this last part too, he seems so offended that she thinks he couldn’t tell the difference between them lmaoo thats definitely junko's man)
#scarposts#scaranswers#this is all lighthearted anon#dr0#i still love Ryoko's freakout#i genuinely believe her despair wasn’t from Yasuke trying to kill her but mainly from the idea that he didn’t love her#cause it mirrors Yasuke's crashout too#he DEFINITELY wouldve kept going for Junko#hell he WAS as he just killed yuto for her and was looking for izuru so he could pin everything on him#he only freaks out when Ryoko says she doesn’t remember him#which makes him think that Junko didnt LOVE him#so he gives up on everything the same way Ryoko does when she believes he loved another girl more than her#thats why ryoko's last moments where so peaceful#Because neither of them had the will to keep fighting anymore#god call them Romeo and Juliet the way their overwhelming love and devotion plus their piss poor communication skills killed them both

I still don't like the ending, but the more I think about it, the more I like Tsumugi's characterization. Girlie really just went from being the least interesting character for me to being one of the very best (and I already liked a lot of DRV3 characters).
#I mean I complain about kokichi a lot#but outside of him I think I'm actually happy with all the other characters#(pity kokichi outshines them and hoards the spotlight... but whatever)#yet I think something about tsumugi really just goes hard#maybe it's the fact that she spends the entire killing game with us. she doesn't hide from us like junko did#the fact that she murdered someone too! and framed kaede for it! and got away with it!!!#I also think that she isn't actually faking her care for the other characters#like... she does love them. even if it's just the way a writer loves their little ocs instead of loving them as people#she does feel sad when they die even if she thinks it's what needs to be done for the plot to progess#I think that idea is extremely interesting and I'm adopting it as canon#(tsumugon thought: tsumugi instigating maki to kill kokichi with the flashback light wasn't because he pretended to be the mastermind#but because she actually planned for him to get killed by miu in chapter 4#and she's IMMENSELY mad that the little bastard turned it around and killed her man#tsumugi: hey- how dare you. gonta was literally my husbando)

idk what this is. i like robots. i’ll clean these up later. i think.
anyways while drawing these I started thinking abt like. idk does this count as an AU.
General shit:
I didn't make it clear, but the robots that have pupils were built without a hardcoded purpose. They've always been free to explore what they want to do. The robots with fully colored "scleras" were created with a purpose from the jump, so their creators didn't feel the need to make them appear more "human".
The more expensive a robot's parts are, the less clunky it is.
Right now, I'm going with "their human family built them" but that's liable to change.
The designs are also liable to change because uh. duh.
Celestia Ludenberg:
Viewed the robots with an imbued purpose as interesting and superior (something something humanity's advancement). She wants to be praised like that, so she emulates them
Her cat loves how much heat she radiates so it's always near her.
Most of her upgrades are cosmetic but if they aren't, they're stupid. She won't upgrade her CPU or her motherboard, but she'll load up with three 4090s that her other components can't even keep up with. Yes, she does it to flex.
She'll distract from bootleg, refurbished, or shoddily painted parts by turning on her RGB. It gets annoying.
She knows that she's fairly unsettling and she revels in it.
All things considered, her cable management is pretty good.
Her gambling skill is still just luck here, but she tells everyone it's because she has a never-seen-before GPU(& CPU) that does calculations at insane speeds.
Most don't believe her but have no way to disprove her lie.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
I can't decide if he was built by his father or his grandfather.
Either way, he was built before Toranosuke's downfall, so his internals were all pretty expensive for the time. Luckily for him, that means he was slightly future-proof and has a viable upgrade path.
Unluckily for him, this means he's stuck with really old parts and his 8gb of RAM can barely keep up in a 32gb world sadge
His chassis is built from secondhand or scrap parts. It's why his joints are so ancient in comparison to the rest of him and why he has so much cabling that he can't seem to manage.
Shit chassis = shit airflow = he is always overheating
BUDDY IS YOUR CPU BURNING HOW IS THERE SMOKE
Older tech = LOUD AF. The class bought him new fans to avoid the loud ass whirring. It's not quiet but he used to sound like a jet engine.
He runs on Debian. It was originally going to be Arch since it's lightweight but Debian's whole "old but stable" reputation fits him more. I don't see him properly dealing with bleeding edge software anyways.
His room is filled with past HDDs that no longer have storage. He deems all educational material important so he refuses to delete any lessons. He doesn't have the money for SSDs.
Mukuro Ikusaba:
Is usually in reconnaissance mode, meaning she has a shit ton of hidden cameras in her chassis
This used to benefit Fenrir. Now it benefits Junko.
She can have her parts shifted around with no issue to make room for a better arsenal.
She’s durable in her reconnaissance mode but she’s nigh on untouchable in her combat mode. Her chassis gets 10x bulkier and she can split her attention to several different tasks on the battlefield.
Fenrir Mercenary Group doubles as a weapons company. Mukuro is the only model of her kind though.
They tried to give her reconnaissance model the look of a “normal girl” so she could gather info more efficiently. They failed real bad. They also didn’t account for the fact that Mukuro isn’t good at socializing.
She allocates a CPU core to a process dedicated to Junko. 24/7 365
She believes herself to be less capable of emotion than she actually is. She can’t seem to find the system process that triggers such painful emotions.
Chihiro Fujisaki
Each “fold” in her skirt doubles as a screen. Think of the skirt as having two layers: the top shell and the under shell. The top shell is what doubles as a screen.
Optimized her hardware to work on code as fast as possible (fingers, skirt, etc).
She tends to test out new software on herself regardless of their compatibility with her pre-existing shit. She constantly has to reinstall her OS, but it’s all fun for her.
Speaking of her OS, I was going to make her run on Gentoo but IDK cause of the compile times. It’d be faster if she used distcc but I can’t see her screwing over her classmates like that lol.
So I’m between Nix and Arch.
Insecure about the fact that she overhauled her original model so extensively. Got made fun of for being a ‘defective’ robot. Her father supports her modifications but she still feels bad about having ‘failed’ somehow.
Cue identity issues
She helps out her classmates when it comes to repairs.
Tendency to stay up programming leads to high uptimes. If her friends notice her lagging or crashing, they’ll try to get her to shut down. (In a computer sense lol, not an emotional shut down)
Do y’all remember the xz utils backdoor? Yeah that’s how extensively she combs through code.
Sayaka Maizono
I can’t decide if she was built to be an idol or was originally some other type of robot.
Loves to make kids smile, so she has a sort of candy mechanism in her arm.
Everything about her glows or spins. You will never get bored looking at her.
Her skirt isn’t actually see through I just didn’t feel like erasing the hip joints lmao.
If corpos give her manager enough money, she has to perform with literal ads on her.
State-of-the art facial recognition software. It makes her fans feel special to have their names remembered.
She has a regular sleep cycle due to how load-intensive her everyday life is. Has to shut down for a couple hours every week at least.
Her psychic ability is just her running a million calculations based on people’s behavior and sensing which one is most plausible. This feature is in place to avoid PR disasters during interviews or public appearances.
There really aren’t enough worker’s rights regulations in place for robots.
The company gets alerts whenever she freaks tf out, so she feels even more stifled and repressed. Chihiro helped remove this.
Kyoko Kirigiri
Can’t decide if she was built by her father or grandfather. Probably just built by Jin and he “left” her in Fuhito’s care.
Fuhito made her go through several modifications, hardcoding his own investigative skills into her system.
Her grandfather loves her but has fucked up ideas about her own autonomy.
The events of DR:K still happen. She chose not to replace her hands.
Fuhito doesn’t make much use of a backdoor in her system anymore. He used it a lot more when she was a child but he sees her as a viable heir of the Kirigiri clan now. Chihiro isolated the backdoor to a separate SSD anyhow.
Still complicated father-daughter issues
Everything about her (but her OS) is proprietary, probably commissioned from Towa Industries. Her OS is a fork of Mint. The Windows 7 UI is just because I imagine her grandfather is One of Those lmao.
Has way too many scanners and sensors. She can’t test any evidence herself but she can gather a fair bit of information. Has a vast database for cross-comparison anyways.
Same issues as Togami and Mukuro: sees herself as less capable of emotion than she actually is.
The ramen noodle incident called for actual repairs.
Byakuya Togami
His superiority complex is far worse because he was literally CREATED to be the perfect Togami. You can’t tell him shiiiiiiit.
Gold joints. Scoffs at those with unoptimized cable management or software.
He’s constantly streamlining his own processes. Brings up that he runs on his own OS when Nobody Asked.
Had a similar backdoor to Kyoko’s but Koji did check that one. Obsessively. Nobody would tell Byakuya but He Just Knew. The lack of privacy irritated him. Aloysius helped fix it once Togami finally took over.
Only trusts Aloysius with his repairs. Has a hard time admitting when he needs repairs in the first place so Aloysius hides it under “monthly maintenance”.
Does everything from the terminal even when he 1) shouldn’t and 2) can’t. Bragging rights. He has written a bunch of his own scripts though to speed things up.
Kernel and OS provided to him by Koji. (UNIX-based. Proprietary) Byakuya maintains and builds his own updates. Doesn’t trust cheapskate peasants to do it for him.
Anti-FOSS. For him at least.
Has glasses for the aesthetics. Doesn’t need them.

Mikan wants to be "forgiven"...but what does that really mean?
Hello. This is something that has been quietly on my mind for a while.
It's something shown in the game in chapter 3. Mikan really focuses in on "being forgiven".
And while not a mistranslation per se, I think it's inaccurate to what is happening in the game.
I've talked about this extensively - the fact ENG DR team has a very bad habit of translating things literally or very directly. This leads to either clunky dialogue, missed nuances, or just incorrect interpretations sometimes.
I think this in particular falls somewhere between 2 and 3. I'll explain why.
If translated literally, the English text works just fine, but as with a lot of literal translation, it misses the "feeling" of what was trying to be conveyed. If you want my translation...
Mikan: Won't someone just tell me what I did wrong!? Why won't anyone just let it be already!?
While Mikan doesn't say "What did I do wrong", there is a subtle emphasis on her talking about herself...I feel like it's a more natural way to word what is essentially "What is it that I did differently [to warrant this]?"
Anyways, to the main point...I hope you can kind of see what I'm getting at.
"Forgive" feels like...Mikan is seeking people to "pardon" her for perceived wrong-doings. And while not untrue I would say, the way Mikan specifically uses the word and the context it is in, to me, feels much more like she is using it like "allow" or "excuse".
Let me use another example to better explain myself.
The last line to me reads like Mikan needed this person to pardon her for being born; for existing. That her existence in and of itself was a mistake or wrong-doing that needed to be forgiven.
I think that's missing the point, though.
Mikan: They allowed me to exist.
See, the point is...Mikan is a very troubled person. She admits as much in the freetime events that wherever she goes, she is horribly bullied just for existing. That she hated being bullied, but even more she hates being forgotten.
She emphasizes her beloved (Junko) did not hate her, and in fact allowed her presence...
This line was heavily misread, I think. 許して受け入れて was read as two verbs in one sentence (which it is) but as "forgive and accept" which is incorrect to what it means. It's closer to "they tolerated me" (like, accepting and moving on). Which comes to how I would translate it, and my final point:
Mikan: They accepted me for who I am.
This is why I think the "forgive" thing is not only incorrect, but actually opposite of what this scene was going for. Junko did not "forgive" Mikan for the sin of existing. Rather, she was the only person who seemed to not mind that she existed, that didn't bully or ignore her.
She didn't "forgive" Mikan, she allowed her to be herself.
Another reason DR3 totally missed the mark, but I digress...
I guess while I'm on the topic, we all know that scene where Mikan has a little back-and-forth with Nagito...that, too, was misrepresented somewhat.
Putting the English here just for comparison sake. And while not the worst translation in the world, it certainly isn't how I would go about it.
Nagito: I don't...really get what you're trying to say... Mikan: Oh, you don't? (lit: you don't understand?) Mikan: Is that because you don't have any loved ones in your life? Mikan: Is it because there's no one who will love you?* Mikan: Oh, you poor thing...I feel very sorry for you.
*Literally speaking, she says "Is it because you are a person nobody allows" but considering the context thus far, it's easy to conclude she means that there's no one who will love/accept him for who he is.
*Adding "also" to the line is a mistranslation, I believe. も means also but it is also used for emphasis, which I think it is here. Not that it's impossible Mikan is using it to say "also", but in these lines of dialogue she is intentionally contrasting how she does have someone who loves her and that she can love, so to then identify a similarity between her and Nagito, I think, wouldn't make much sense...
Mikan is one of my favorite characters, so little details like this matter a lot to me.

Problematic Femslash Ship Tournament - SEMIFINAL

Despaircest - Junko Enoshima x Mukuro Ikusaba (Danganronpa Series) VS. DB - D-ne x B-ko (Shuuen no Shiori)
Info and propaganda under cut! This will not be spoiler-free.
Problematic elements for Despaircest:
twincest, abuse, murder, toxicity, codependency
Problematic elements for DB:
yandere, toxic, dependency, murder
--
Propaganda for Despaircest:
MUKURO HAS A CANON CRUSH ON JUNKO. SHES ALWAYS FUCKING BLUSHING AROUND HER AND SHIT. THEYRE SO GAY. JUNKO LITERALLY SAYS SHE KILLED MUKURO BECAUSE IT WAS THE MOST DESPAIR SHE COULD EVER FEEL. SHE FUCKING LOVED HER TOO!!!!! - Twincest for the win! Junko also constantly abuses/tries to kill Mukuro and Mukuro is totally Into it! Plus Junko literally ends up killing Mukuro so yknow doomed yuri. They are so toxic and codependent and when Junko DOES end up killing Mukuro, she gets off to it, and says she wishes she were Mukuro!!! - They're THE incest sisters - Despaircest is soooo dear to me bc I shipped this shit even AS an anti man. Being obsessed w Junko is so entwined w Mukuro’s whole character that you cannot simply IGNORE the incest. Like man I don’t usually like twincest but these two. They are awful. - despaircest propaganda that was too big for the post:

Propaganda for DB:
d-ne is a lesbian who lacks any sense of identity for herself and struggles to get close to anyone. she falls deeply in love with b-ko, who she deems to be perfect. when she finds out b-ko's "perfect" act is just a mask she puts on, she just falls for her even more. she doesn't care about anyone other than b-ko or what anyone but b-ko thinks of her. she puts b-ko on a pedestal and devalues herself, believing she could never be on b-ko's level. when the group finds the "bookmark of demise" and strange deaths begin occurring, b-ko gets scared and d-ne wants her to be scared so she can be the one to comfort her. d-ne then steals b-ko's first kiss! when the "demise game" starts, d-ne is given the monkey's paw which allows her to wish for anything, but at the cost of taking that thing away from someone else. she immediately starts making wishes that would allow her to "become more like b-ko". when she wishes to have eyes like b-ko's, a random girl who had earlier pointed out that her eyes match b-ko's gets in an accident where her eyes get taken away and magically transferred to d-ne, and d-ne just laughs and blushes over this. d-ne goes to visit b-ko, who won't open her door because she's so scared over the demise game, and when d-ne finally gets in, she hears b-ko calling out to a-ya (another character) for help. in a fit of delusion, d-ne decides the b-ko in front of her, who called a-ya's name, "isn't b-ko" and murders her, in the end, deciding to fully become and replace b-ko, believing she's "protecting b-ko" by doing this. then d-ne wishes for all her misfortune to disappear, which works, but since she's b-ko now, she dies at the hands of b-ko's doppelganger (the misfortune that b-ko had been dealing with during the demise game). honestly we need more girls like d-ne in the world

hi. i’ve seen from your art you liked akane!! (i think?) and wanted to ask if you have any headcanons 4 her :)
sure! I feel like I did one before...? But idr
also yknow warning for headcanon stuff. And it's sad. And it's Akane's fucked up backstory (that means hints to child sexual abuse)
My favorite thing is 'gymnast that always lands on her feet' hehe. She's the most resourceful, resilient person out of everyone, and I genuinely have a hard time thinking of how Junko got to her in the first place.
Her 'instincts' are actually hyper-intelligence when it comes to reading people and the environment. She doesn't know she's doing it, but she's always alert, and can tell when something tiny has changed or someone is acting just a bit off. She honed this skill trying to navigate her disaster life from age Way Too Young.
She seems ditsy because anything that isn't really life threatening just isn't that important and she doesn't bother with it. Again, because her life has been real rough.
She's super casual about nudity (this is canon) and spreads it to her classmates. Once you're used to her absolutely killer body in the nude in a totally casual nonsexual way, you just kinda get over it all.
After waking up, she isn't quite as wild and violent and active, and she takes Nidai's advice to work on her inner self too. Yoga, meditation, that kind of thing*
She loves dancing!
Any kind of physical activity, really. Hopscotch? Aces it. Jump-rope? Aces it. Surfing? Well she gets distracted and falls off a lot but she loves it anyway!
She enjoys sex but doesn't like, crave it. It's a sort of exercise that feels good, like yoga or Nidai's massages. She doesn't really see why it's such a huge deal to some people.
That said she's definitely picky about who she does it with. Don't make it weird, dude.
If you're gonna be weird about it, you don't have a chance, because she can tell.
Also if you're a man you have like a 10% chance. Women... may try
Sex is completely divorced from romance to her, though.
She thought the plan-B pill was like a tylenol. Everyone does it when the occasion calls for it, right? It's whatever, right?
Non-Despair AU, she doesn't really drink alcohol except very occasionally. You can count on her to let you crash at her place, no problem.
She actually has a sort of open door policy. One, because she is unfortunately used to having no privacy. Two, she is used to letting ppl stay if they need it- she'd rather sleep in the bathtub than let anyone sleep on the street. Three, she can kick anyone's ass, *try* and do anything untowards.... cmom try :)
Post-wakeup, one of her worst moments is when she realizes she just no longer likes food :( her body rejects it too hard and nothing tastes the same. She eventually develops a much different taste, but at least she can enjoy it sometimes.
Loves eating with nothing but her hands. Food tastes the most pure that way, no metallic taste or wood texture to interrupt her. Teruteru takes this to heart and starts planning his dishes with utensils in mind, too.
If she does a blind taste (or smell, or touch) test, she fucking kills it every time.
She can tell when Junko is around because of Junkos incredibly threatening presence.
i guess the only reason Junko got to Akane is because Junko was slightly better at manipulation and hiding herself. Akane has never forgotten and therefore Junkos presence is a permanent concern in Akanes psyche. Akane won't be fooled again.
Akane and Nekomaru never actually have a talk about their relationship or whatever. Akane just loves being around him, and feels safe, and they infect each other's mood, etc. He has never set off any of her alarm bells, so she trusts him with her whole self.
Fuyuhiko reminds her of one of her brothers, who was younger than her but not by much, and always tried to take care of her. Trying so hard to be the man he thinks he should be. Younger brother vibe.
Sonia reminds her of the pretty ladies in books, movies and ads. So put together and bright...blush. But she could stand to be more honest, and smile more genuinely.
Kaz reminds her of a girl (HMM) who wasn't quite family, but stayed with the Owari household for a while because of complications. Equals sort of?
Hajime is.... someone Akane is always on the brink of challenging or going up against, like something in her just wants to maul him. Not in a bad way tho (probably)! but he feels like a real challenge. But, of way more prevalence, she wants to be around him and work with him, and loves his presence. She's incredibly glad they ended up as friends instead. (Thats a reference to her being the villain in the drafts!)
Akane really likes being tucked in. She did it for her family all the time, but no one ever did it for her until post-wakeup.
She never actually comes to terms with all her abuse fully. Like she gets it, she knows objectively it was wrong, she has the right idea.... but there is just. Too much. She lives a good life and she functions great but she just doesn't revisit or confront those corners of her mind. People might think that's not right, but she has autonomy over herself and good luck trying to force her into it.
Some things just don't get resolved or accepted. Sometimes bad things just happen and you keep living. She's definitely not the only one who puts something unresolved behind her.
She used to be a city girl, but she loves the island and the nature, the close crowd of people and the total freedom. Her life at the end of the 'story' is the best she's ever had it.
*I'm gonna post a picture ok it's nudity it's boobs OK
Her peacefully meditating & connecting to her soul as well as her body :)
i love Nekomaru's line about how like..... idr like she's super strong but needs to work on herself spiritually too. I think it's nice that he considers her spirit as well as her body. Once she reaches Peace she's practically unstoppable
#not an art#Akane Owari#Talky talky#Have you seen that comic where the goblin drops a blimp down a canyon and everyone thinks they're crazy#But they're actually the only thing keeping the canyon goblins afloat?#I'm both of these goblins. I just simply connect to dark and sad things ans they make me feel better. Hence.#Akane Owari I will give you your bitter-but-mostly-sweet-ending if it KILLS ME#Akane owari always lands on her feet! Life cannot kill akane owari!

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy - Initial Character Thoughts
This is going to have a lot of Danganronpa comparisons, name analysis, and just my overall thoughts on each character before the game is out. Feel free to comment your own thoughts!
Darumi Amemiya (飴宮 怠美)
"A young woman known for her mood swings and obsession with all things dark and depressing. She's a big fan of killing game stories and has no fear of death. If she has to die, all she wants is a death that's as dramatic and flamboyant as humanly possible."
Crazy thing I'm about to say, she reminds me of Genocide Jack. She sticks her tongue out a lot and seems to be completely desensitized to anything regarding death. It makes me think she's just desperate for a thrill in her life.
I don't really like her design but I think if the vibrant colors were turned down, it would be much better. I do enjoy it in a way, being able to dress however you want reveals a lot about someone's confidence. I love how she looks in her other outfit and I honestly think if her shirt was less white, I'd love her hair.
Ame means candy, miya means palace, daru means lazy, and mi means beauty. Daru is not common in names, so it definitely has a meaning. This name doesn't have any straightforward meaning to me, but I suppose Darumi is a more unique character. Her name might make sense later. I do theorize, for the lazy part, she was bored before getting into dark stuff, kinda like Junko.
Eito Aotsuki (蒼月 衛人)
"Takumi's most trusted ally. Eito cares very deeply for his friends and isn't shy about expressing those feelings, corny as they may sound. He's been weak and sickly since he was little, but his impressive intellect might be just what the team needs to guide them through the war safely."
We are all thinking about the exact same image. Anyway, I think I'll love him because it seems he has a bit of a crazy side as well (I love crazy people). He's also very forward and compassionate, so I'll enjoy seeing both sides of him.
He looks like one of Nagito's beta designs which I think tells me everything I need to know. I find him cute but his jacket being the same color as his skin kinda throws me off. I'm also curious as to why he wears gloves, he's dressed like it's winter.
Ao means blue and tsuki means moon. His first name is interesting, as the kanji for Ei is the same kanji used in the game's title, meaning defense. To means human and is also a common ending for a boy name. I find the term blue moon fitting for his appearance, and I assume his role in battle will mostly be defense.
Gaku Maruko (丸子 楽)
"A guy who's true to his personal desires (to put it delicately). He's a coward and always looking out for himself. However, there's something so refreshingly honest about his pettiness that it's hard to hate him. Gaku's also good at taking care of other people once he opens his heart to them."
I will not lie, I don't think I'm going to like him. I'm okay with a character being a coward and I'm okay with a character being selfish, but both does not seem like a mood maker to me. I think I'll find him annoying but I'll be happy to be surprised.
He's got some patchwork in his clothes, so I think he might come from a troubled past. His shirt is really stupid looking though, but it's stupid enough to circle back to being slightly cute.
Maru means round and ko means child, but together, Maruko is a type of meatball. Not exactly the same as Western ones, but very similar. Gaku means comfort. I think his first name goes well with the fact he takes good care of those close to him. In Japanese, Gaku is also a homophone for the word school. As for Maruko, I don't know.
Hiruko Shizuhara (雫原 比留子)
"Leader of the Special Defense Unit. A cold, almost heartless beauty, she always says what's on her mind, even if it means offending others. She's just as merciless on the battlefield, where she gets a twisted sense of pleasure from tearing invaders apart."
She enjoys murder, I think I'll like her. I'm very curious as to why she's considered the leader of the group. The way she's described as merciless on the battlefield makes me think she has murdered before. Maki but a little more crazy (I love crazy people).
She has a lot going on that I really enjoy, the piercings, the makeup, the hair clip. She's also 5'11, which I think will be funny next to our 5'6 protagonist.
Shizu means droplet and hara means original, but is also just a common ending for Japanese surnames, like Saihara and Gokuhara. Hi means compare, ru means remain, and ko means child. Hiruko, spelled 蛭子, is also one of the names of Ebisu, a God of fishing, wealth, and fortune. Ebisu also uses the kanji 比, which is in Hiruko's name. Her last name is also water related.
Ima Tsukumo (九十九 今馬)
"One of a set of twins - Ima is the elder by a few minutes. He acts like a carefree joker, but underneath that humor is a hint of something darker. A hardcore siscon, he thinks of nothing but protecting his sister. If anything or anyone dares to threaten Kako's safety, Ima will show them no mercy."
This might ruin people's perception of me, but I don't care that he's a siscon. Like at all. It might be an uncomfortable attribute but after four Danganronpa games, I could not be less phased. I think I'll like him since he seems silly but also a little crazy (I love crazy people).
One of the cutest characters here. I thought he was a girl at first but he just has luscious eyelashes. I love the color of his hair and the streaks in it, I think they go well with his eyes. His sprite here looks very chummy.
Tsukumo means ninety-nine, which is one less than a hundred and how many days they have left after day one. Ima by itself means now but his name only uses the “I” part of it and then uses horse for the ma part. Basically 今 = Ima and 今馬 = Ima. It would be the same with or without the last kanji, but I assume it's there to make it seem more like a name. However, I can't help but connect him to Oma.
Kako Tsukumo (九十九 過子)
"One of a set of twins - Kako is the younger by a few minutes. She's prone to spacing out, but also has a keen mind and a healthy sense of curiosity. Kako is a big fan of mystery stories and wants to be a private investigator when she grows up."
She seems like a regular teenager to be honest, but the spacing out and solving mysteries reminds me of Chiaki. I think I'll like her, but I can't really pin her personality based on this description.
I adore her hairstyle and her bow. The color of her hair looks really nice with her eye color. Funny enough, I didn't realize her and Ima were siblings until I saw the eyes. Like the uniform did not give it away for some reason.
Like her brother, Kako's last name means ninety-nine. The kanji for ka means past, contrasting the meaning of her brother's name. I like to theorize there will be a character named something including future, but that's a reach. Ko means child, it's a very common ending for female names. It might just be to make Kako seem more like a name, but perhaps it also represents childishness.
Kurara Oosuzuki (大鈴木 くらら)
"The scion of one of the most wealthy families humanity has ever known. She's proud, overbearing, and acts like she's better than anyone else. She always wears a strange tomato mask, never showing her true face."
I like the proud type of character, someone like Miu or Byakuya. She seems to be more focused on degrading others than uplifting herself though, but that's just based on her quote. I also really want to see her face but oddly if it's never shown I won't be disappointed.
I don't really care for masks that completely cover a character's face, I like to see at least some parts, but the fact the mask expresses emotions makes me content with it. I also thought it was a Jack-o-Lantern at first, but I guess it's just a scary tomato? The rest of her outfit is nice, fits the rich girl thing.
Oo means great, suzu means bell, and ki means tree. Suzuki is a very common Japanese last name, so adding great in front of it makes sense for her prideful personality. Kurara is a type of plant that is very bitter. I assume this will also relate to her personality.
Kyoshika Magadori (凶鳥 狂死香)
"A young samurai who's utterly clueless about the modern world. Has never even heard of multiplication tables, let alone learned them. She has a disturbingly close relationship with her katana, the Holy Jumonji Sword."
Kyoshika is who I think my favorite character will be. She's very Tenko like, a character I love very much. Her birthday is 11/11 which I hope is a joke about how she cut 1111 perfectly in half. While she isn't very modern, I can still see she has a reliable personality. Her name also hints she might be a little crazy (I love crazy people). Lastly, Ninja's are cool.
I love her outfit, especially the katana on her hip and the huge cape. She also has a normal ponytail, not often seen in Danganronpa. I like how her ponytail looks like a shuriken. Her face reminds me of Maki a bit, another character I love. I also love the colors. I just really love her so far.
We have a very straightforward name here. Maga means bad or unlucky and dori means bird. Unlucky bird? Crows are often associated with death, but that might not be the message it's going for. Kyoshi literally means crazy to death. Ka means scent, but is also just a common ending for a girl name.
Moko Mojiro (喪白 もこ)
"A young woman who is blowing up on the high school pro wrestling scene. Her courage and boundless energy is a source of inspiration for the entire Special Defense Unit. Whenever she has a problem, she faces it head on. She didn't choose the wrasslin' life - it chose her."
Her personality reminds me a lot of Aoi. Probably with more courage though. She seems like she'll get along better with girls than boys. The boundless energy makes me think she'll be fun to play, but we'll see.
We finally got ourselves another buff woman, Sakura fans rejoice. I like how her hair, face, and outfit are cutesy, it shows she can be physically strong while still being girly, something Sakura wanted.
Sigh... I don't get her name at all, Mo means mourning and jiro means white. Her first name is in Hiragana so I don't know the exact meaning, nor do I really have an idea on her last name. I thought about Peko and how pekopeko is an onomatopoeia. Mokomoko is an onomatopoeia for something thick and soft. Not sure if that relates to her personality. I'd say her last name is a death flag but everyone dies in this game so that doesn't mean much.
Nozomi Kirifuji (霧藤 希)
"A high schooler who combines a kindhearted nature with dogged determination in battle. She's very passionate about the Special Defense Unit's mission, but also seems to be hiding something. For some reason, Nozomi is identical in appearance to Takumi's childhood friend Karua."
I'm a sucker for characters hiding a big secret, so I'm excited for hers, I assume it's related to Karua but how so? Much to think about. She's kind and passionate, so I think she'll be very easy to like as a character.
Cute, cute, cute, cute, cute!!! She is adorable from her hair to her shoes. I really like her hair especially. Her name is cute too. I think she's my favorite design overall, it's pleasing to look at.
Kiri means fog, which, like Kirigiri, I believe represents the mysterious aspect of her. Fuji means wisteria, which are purple just like her. Nozomi means hope, which is a name I was surprised Kodaka never used. I always thought Nozomi would be a great name for Chiaki, but I'm getting off track. Overall her name is peaceful but mysterious, fitting her description.
Shouma Ginzaki (銀崎 晶馬)
"A young man who, by his own admission, has absolutely nothing going for him. On a scale of one to ten, his self-esteem's at negative five. He's constantly putting himself down."
It seems like a lack of self-worth is gonna be his whole thing. I'm not really looking forward to it. Nagito did it too, but was also a very positive person, but it seems Shouma is just depressed. I just don't want everything he says to be about how he's worthless.
His design is okay. I think I'd like it better without the hat but it's not too bad, just makes him look a little immature. I do think his face and haircut are cute. He's also very small.
Gin means silver and zaki means small peninsula, but is mostly associated with being an ending for a surname, so I doubt it changes the meaning. Shou means crystal, and like in Ima, ma means horse. The silver and crystal parts are definitely connected, maybe he's wealthy? Or maybe it symbolizes his personality instead. Not very sure.
Takemaru Yakushiji (厄師寺 猛丸)
"An old-school delinquent who lives to ride and rides to live. Despite his rough-and-ready demeanor, Takemaru's really a nice guy on the inside. Impulsive, straightforward, and honorable to a fault, he's sworn to never use his strength to bully the weak."
He seems like a generally good character but I can sense there will be a lot of him yelling. Honestly, he just seems a lot like Mondo to me, so I don't have much to say. I like Mondo but I'm not sure we need another one. Also he says he doesn't hit girls, kids, or the eldery, so first thing I know is he sees girls as weak.
Give him the corn hair and he's literally Mondo. I do like Takemaru's hair though, it's kinda cute. He's got a lot of scars on his face, so I feel like he might be a little reckless. All the characters have dull skin but I feel some vibrance would do him good.
Yaku means disaster or evil, shi means master, and ji means temple. The temple part adds up with the old school aspect, like in Saionji and Shinguji. The first part likely just represents him being a delinquent. In his first name, Take means fierce and maru means round. I think this is mostly just a pun, “Takemaru Hair” is a hair style associated with delinquents.
Takumi Sumino (澄野 拓海)
"The main character of this story. A completely average high schooler from a completely average family. He can be a little indecisive and pessimistic at times, but when he has something to protect, he'll fight with everything he's got."
Classic average high schooler as our protagonist, expected for these kinds of stories. I'm in no way a hater of the archetype, I love Makoto, Hajime, and Komaru lots, so I think I'll like him too. His introduction is pretty negative, but I find pessimism to be an endearing trait, so I feel like I'll love him.
I'm not really a fan of the bright red hair, but it's not bad. I would like if the red and black in his hair switched. Also, classic ahoge. I find his eyes beautiful, they're very sharp, great for a pessimist. Not much to say about his outfit.
I don't know why but I really like his name and the kanji used in it. It just sounds and is written nice. Sumi means clear and no means field, but it's also just a common ending for surnames. Taku means opening land and mi means ocean. I think the opening land part fits the fact he's in a new place and the sea is more metaphorical for how vast it is.
Tsubasa Kawana (川奈 つばさ)
"A young woman who knows a lot about machines and what makes them tick. She had a bright, lively personality, but isn't good with stressful situations. When she gets nervous, she gets nauseous, and then..."
She is so cute I already know she'll be one of my favorite characters. She's energetic and social but gets sick when nervous, I can very much empathize with her... If this game has things like free time events, I'd like to spend some with her.
I absolutely adore her design. Her hair is beautiful, her entire outfit is cool, I like the way she carries herself. She also has the classic Danganronpa mouth mole, a need for all of Kodaka's games. Her necklace thing is odd but I'll look past it.
Kawa means river and na means doubts, however, the kanji for na isn't really known for its meaning and is mostly associated with being a part of a name. The last sentence implies she throws up when nervous, so, for lack of better phrasing, maybe the river represents that? And doubt is what fuels that nervousness? I think I'm reaching here. Tsubasa means wings, which I think is bright and lively like her personality.
Yugamu Omokage (面影 歪)
"A striking young man who's been in the business since long before the war started. Unlike the rest of his family (who are also assassins, by the way), Yugamu believes that killing should be done with love. He enjoys torture and other immoral forms of pleasure."
He's crazy like for real crazy (I love crazy people). His description makes me raise an eyebrow about what exactly "immoral forms of pleasure" are but I won't make assumptions until the game is out. He kills for love which reminds me of a character I love with all my heart. He'll never compare to her but it's okay.
The outfit is very nice but the random organs are a bit odd. That's probably the point, but it's just really random. I find him ugly and I love it. His hair is also bad and I love it. I love this ugly boy.
Omokage means face shadow, referring to imagining someone's face with your mind. Kind of like imagining someone, usually dead, is there with you. Yugamu means distorted. Another on the nose name. Remembering a face but it's distorted, could refer to his own scarred face, or perhaps forgetting what someone who has passed away looks like. He has a strong connection with love, so perhaps someone he once knew. It likely just refers to his own face.
Sirei and Nigou (SIREI) & (NIGOU)
"The principal and commanding officer of Last Defense Academy. To put it another way, a weird little robot that orders the members of the Special Defense Unit around. Under his command, Takumi and the others will be working to wipe out the mysterious School Invaders." "Sirei's assistant and second in command. An odd little robot that has a gentle, caring personality, but is also prone to making careless mistakes. He's completely loyal and subservient to Sirei."
I'll keep it short and simple, if these two aren't funny I won't care for them at all.
I kinda like their designs. It's unique how you can see their brain and heart, but I think that's because those two are the most vital organs. Also, what's with Nigou's lips? I don't even know their gender so I'll just use they/them for the time being. The English description says "He" but the Japanese text doesn't explicitly use he and there no other instance to use.
Their names are romanized in Japanese as well, so they don't have an obvious meaning, but I have a theory! I believe Sirei is 司令 “Shirei” meaning in command and Nigou is 二号 “Nigou” meaning number two, as in second to Sirei. Sirei and Shirei are pronounced the same in Japanese.
Final Thoughts
I'm hyped for this game. I haven't talked about the gameplay aspects but my absolute favorite thing in games is multiple endings. A hundred endings is a paradise for me. A lot of the sneak peaks leave me curious, so I'm excited to play it. April 24th! I think I'll enjoy the cast. I also like the majority of Kodaka's characters because they're so complex, so I have no doubts about loving this new cast.
Sorry for any spelling errors, this was a lot to proofread.

Mukuro Ikusaba. The sixteenth prompt, lying hidden somewhere in the prompt list. The one you call "your child sets up a date for you two". I make my request for her.
Cute moments with you and mukuro's child

Pairing:mukuro ikusaba x gn reader
A/n:I think this might be the best request I have ever received just because of how it was worded. Thank you so much, Anon. I am standing and applauding you you're a genius
Also I changed the prompt just to make it more general hope you don't mind
Non despair au
Prompts list
".........minako do you mind telling me what happened today at school?"
Your daughter stopped looking at the cartoon and stared straight at you while smiling.
Minako was basically a spitting image of her mother, with black hair and freckles to complete the look, the only things she seemed to have inherited by you were her eyes who were the same color as yours.
"Oh yeah, I did a drawing of us"
".....I know, I already hung it up.....I meant the other thing"
".......what other thing?"
"....the show and tell"
"....ooohhh, yeah everyone loved what I brought"
"......w-wait they did?"
"Yeah, yeah they even wanted to play with it too"
"....please tell me you didn't let them"
"Why not?"
"Cause it's-.......nevermind, why did you bring that out of all the other things?"
"....what do you mean?"
"............"
"Y/n wants to know why you brought one of my rifles to show and tell"
Your wife finally intervened and lifted you of the burden that was explaining a child why bringing a gun to school wasn't a good idea
"Cause it's mama's! And the teacher said we had to bring something that reminded us of our parents"
"OK.....but why a gun?"
"Cause I told everyone mama was the best soldier ever and had to bring proof"
".....you almost gave your teacher a heart attack, thank God it wasn't loaded"
".....what does that mean?"
"Nothing you have to worry about, just please don't do anything like that again"
".......uhhhh"
".....what's wrong minako?"
".....if I gave one of my friends one of mama's knives does that count?"
".........you did what?"
Mukuro gave her daughter a death stare, which caused her to get scared and run to her room while screaming. Your wife sighed and put a hand up to her head to indicate how frustrated she was so you put a hand on her shoulder and kissed her cheek
"Don't be too harsh to her, she didn't know it was wrong"
"....yes you're right, I just need to hide my weapons better"
"We should come back earlier by that but if we’re not here by 8 then put minako to bed"
"............."
"Y/n and I already made food for her so there should be no problems with that"
"............"
"You know my number if anything happens"
"..........."
"Junko, are you listening?"
Mukuro's sister looked up from her phone and gave the black haired girl a thumbs up
"Yep totally, don't you worry about anything"
".....what was the first thing I told you?"
"....to not put her to bed...?"
"*sighs* I'm starting to think I should have hired a babysitter"
"And refuse your sister doing it for free?"
"Listen junko I trust you so don't do anything stupid ok?"
"Are you still worried? I told you to calm down, what's the worst that can happen?"
"..........I'm gonna go"
"OK, you and y/n have a nice date, me and minako are gonna become besties in no time"
You and mukuro said hi to junko and minako and went on your date. You had a great time, but you could tell mukuro was worried about what was going on in the house, so you tried to comfort her on your way back home
"Are you worried about minako?"
"Yeah....I love junko, I really do but I don't think she's good with kids"
"She couldn't have done anything that bad right?"
".........I....wouldn't put it past her"
You two entered your house and looked around. The house looked undamaged, which was already a relief so you called minako over only for your eyes to widen when you saw her approaching with a full face of make-up and died pink hair
"........what happened?"
"Auntie junko gave me a makeover'
"......we....can see that, why?"
"She said she wanted to look pretty so I made her pretty"
"BY PUTTING MAKE-UP ON HER? SHE'S SEVEN"
"It's never too early to start"
"And what if she's allergic?"
".....wait you can be allergic to make-up?"
"YOU'RE A FASHIONISTA AND YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT!?"
Junko shrugged and mukuro sighed, hee irritation slowly dissipating
"Listen, junko, you know I love you. You're my sister and everything, but please just don't"
"Don't what?"
"Do anything like that to my child ever again"
"OK, sorry, I just wanted to have fun with her"
".....just don't"
"Got it, buuuut I think we really did become friends, if you ever need a babysitter aga-"
"I won't call you"
"Really? Come on not even once?"
"........I'll think about it"
"Great, I knew you were the best sister ever"
Junko hugged mukuro and said hi you and your daughter. While leaving, when she left, mukuro immediately grabbed minako and looked at her again
"We need to take a bath now"
"OK can I grab one of my plushies?"
".....what?"
The child went into her room that was unexpectedly filled to the brim with plushies of every type
"......I.......how?"
"Auntie junko brought me those, she said I could have tea parties with them and mama"
"........I....need to call junko, you bathe her ok?
"Yeah.....just....don't be too angry, she gave us free plushies"
".......I guess, but I'm not having tea parties with them"
"Don't worry, I'll take that burden"

ok ok but despite all its flaws as a show tf armada had a pretty meaningful scene (at least in my opinion) that ties together the ideas it was exploring re "fathers and sons". on the one hand you have starscream struggling to earn a single ounce of recognition and respect from megatron, in a way that is so painfully reminiscent of a neglected child trying to gain affection and approval from a shitty parent because that's all they've been taught to look up to. starscream is beaten and humiliated for even making suggestions in the interests of the decepticons, despite following every order and trying his best to fight for "the cause" even though it no longer makes sense to him. he returns to megatron despite declaring that he no longer cares about what megatron thinks about him, because he does still care---megatron literally blames starscream for having a "conscience." all megatron wants is to hammer down the nail that is sticking up, the "problem child" who can't just take a few hits and move on, and all starscream wants is megatron to just acknowledge him as a person, just once.
on the other hand, you have the scene that i want to talk about: rad waking up his parents in the middle of the night to tell them about the existence of cybertronians and their civil war, and looking like a crazy person as he's rattling off about how he needs to go with the autobots into space while standing in his jammies. and the fallout of that interaction ends up being that his father (at least how im understanding this scene), while not necessarily believing in the substance of what rad says, believes in his son. he sees his child's determination and optimism and he knows that rad is being truthful. he reminisces about his own childhood, about having to give up on his own dreams and excitement about the universe in order to move on in life, and understands where his son is coming from. all he asks is that rad comes home safely.
it reminds me a lot of a scene in madoka magica, when walpurgisnacht is attacking the city, and madoka confesses to her mom, junko, that she needs to leave the emergency shelter in order to save homura, and that only she can do this. even though madoka's mother is confused and distressed at the idea of letting her only daughter follow through with her plan (she even slaps madoka, something that is shocking to see knowing how much the two love each other), she ultimately puts her faith in madoka and lets her go. i don't think that situation was meant to be taken in a literal sense (i.e. that the show was literally trying to say that parents should just let their children do crazy shit like run into a natural disaster), but rather, i think the point was that the relationship between child and parent must be formed out of trust, and that even when the urge to "govern" a child arises out of genuine affection and a desire to protect what the parent believes are the child's best interests, it must be balanced with the parent's trust of that child's capabilities and good intentions, something that can only be done when there is acceptance of the child's autonomy as a person and recognition of their beliefs, attitudes, and values. the central conflict for junko leading up to that confrontation was her sense of gradual alienation from madoka---despite being a "girlboss" role model and an emotionally nurturing figurehead for her daughter, junko implicitly expresses the fear that she no longer understands madoka or is as connected to her, at a period when madoka is developing and becoming her own person. in a few scenes, junko resembles a traditionally overworked father figure, similar to rad's father (who literally looks like he has lost a lot of his passion and interest outside of his work). thus, when junko agrees to let madoka go into the storm, she is essentially telling madoka, "i do trust you, and i see you, and i hear you, and i love you. though i will always be your parent---and therefore will do everything to protect you---i cherish your trust in me as a parent more than i cherish whatever authority i have and my own sense of pride in that role. i believe you."
so when rad's father ultimately accepts that his son's wild story that he needs to go somewhere far, far away to help the autobots, i see his reaction not as a plot device (because why include the scene anyways if rad's parents don't show up for the other 99% of the series?) but as a parent coming to terms with what they also need to do in order to preserve and develop their bond with their child. and, idk, the whole scene is very touching to me while keeping a level of nuance in the interaction (compared to an equivalent, but less nuanced, scene in tf cybertron where the human protagonists literally need the autobots to physically reveal themselves before their parents can believe them), and it makes sense why rad displays that sense of empathy and trust in the minicons later in the time loop.
overall, i think this scene was very bittersweet knowing that this parallel could be drawn between rad's interaction with his father and starscream's desire to have that kind of trust placed in him (making his interaction with alexis, whom he thanks for trusting him despite his betrayal, all the more impactful). idk armada might be goofy but sometimes it gets the emotional beats in a way that just isn't there in the rest of the unicron trilogy.
#transformers armada#tf armada#transformers unicron trilogy#starscream#armada starscream#rad white#alexis thi dang#madoka magica#rambles#that scene with madoka and junko gets me tearing up every time#like idk man ill never be a parent myself but can you imagine#the fear of letting your child go and the weight of choosing to trust in them instead#megatron#armada megatron#idk ignore if u want#transformers

So I bought Nier Automata and a Playstation copy of Danganronpa: Summer Camp.
....
I have already played one of these more than the other, and while that answer may be obvious, I've played one more than the other in the less than 12 hours I've owned them on PS.
....
The answer's still the same, but.
That's not the point. >.>;;;;;
#musings#bandit#did a run for komaru and miu and mukuro#and then did a few levels on the despair tower#i know the game better now so i'm not using the buff items this early#so i'm trying to get more characters and their cards#and get the hope fragments so i can fight the kubs#to get main story#and then i can go back through to do better leveling up to take on the tower later#however - while the switch still has the vending machine option to buy individual characters#to get around the gacha#the ps version does not#so no buying junko for me this time#BUT#i already grabbed miu and monaca#and i plan to have a run with kaede soon#probably?#and mukuro's interaction scenes were SO cute#and also i randomly guessed her scene with junko about despair#and i love how monaca is the only one who's like 'you're not REALLY junko'#and mukuro's conversation with byakuya that reveals junko's not well liked#but also junko why have you made mukuro pretend to be you for THREE YEARS#how can you then complain that you didn't get invited to the nwp#because who they think is you is CLEARLY THERE#or is this you complaining that yasuke specifically did not invite you#and just told mukuro about it so she had to break the news to you#like#what's going on here

ⓘ head canon format , cute , light hearted , non killing game , flirting , they/them pronouns used

kyoko kirigiri ♡
very indirect with it
it's hard for her to outright flirt with someone, so she starts slowly by doing things to include the person she has her eye on
for example: saving them a seat right next to her at a table
inviting them out even if she's with all her other friends, just because she wants them there
gives them moral support and always tells them when they've done a good job on something
(whenever they're not around, though, she talks to her friends about them, like...non-stop)
toko fukawa ♡
toko? flirting? HA
she's so weird i love her!!!
but really, it's hit or miss with her
depending on the person she likes' personality
her style of flirting can either be endearing or just...gross
LOTS of innuendos...
probably sends those dumb dirty memes to the person she likes too 💀
aoi asahina ♡
becomes very sharing and very caring
much more than usual, actually...
she's really confident in herself so she isn't afraid of letting the fact that she is interested in someone show
the type to want to impress whoever she is after
celestia ludenberg ♡
strategically uses the feedback loop to get the message of "yes , i am infact flirting with you" to them
meaning, she basically compliments them everytime they do something for her, that she wants them to continue doing
they bring her a cup of tea once?
she tells them "you're so good to me!" or something of the sort, and it makes them want to do it more often
over time, celeste moves up from just compliments to kissing them on the cheek each time they do something nice for her...motivating them even more to do stuff for her
smooth moves tbh
sakura ogami ♡
also the type to want to impress them
starts off being friendly with them and inviting them to her martial arts tournaments
may or may not be the type to convince them to try martial arts out just so they can spend more time together for fun!
they study martial arts together, go to the gym together, and gradually sakura opens up more to them
she's a little conflicted on whether she should be more direct with the flirting or just wait some more though...
sayaka maizono ♡
always find a way to go up and talk to them
she wants to know their opinion on her new songs, what outfit she has on, how she can improve her perfomances...etc
once they do give her their advice/opinion, she changes what she can to cater to them. of course, still finding ways to keep her authenticity
she then goes to them with a smile on her face and tells them that she does it all for them ;)
one thing is for sure, she knows how to live up to a fantasy
junko enoshima ♡
literally does the same thing as celeste but is more overt with the pet names
also is more handsy earlier on
the haste brings her great despair
she's demanding, but they (most likely) won't notice it because uses sweet words like;
"please, be a dear and do [such and such] for me."
notice how she doesn't ask for a favor and just tells them to do it? yeah
don't worry! she'll give them a reward that will have them coming back over and over !!
mukuro ikusaba ♡
she becomes kind of a loser when she likes someone
always asking about every little detail of their day, what they love to do, what foods they like, the types of movies they like to watch
asks questions a little too much, but she can't help it!
she wants to know it all
and she holds onto every little thing that they say...
thinks saying "i'd kill for you." is a way of flirting
...but depending on the person it might just be.

Makoto enters the Neo World Program to help with the shutdown sequence, but to his surprise, he doesn't find himself in the trial room.
He finds himself on the beach, in the simulation's normal map. The original map, before Junko's twisted Funhouse and her Titty Typhoon and all her other contributions. He was even dressed for the beach, in a tank top and swim trunks.
(Back in the trial room, Junko stops in the middle of some great exposition and exclaims, "OMG, finally! Later, chumps! Sit and spin, or whatever," and she disappears, leaving them confused.)
Makoto feels that she's there. He doesn't have to turn around, but he does, only to get glomped in an unnecessarily tight hug.
"You made it," Junko('s AI) coos. "It felt like I was waiting forever. Did you let me play with those chumps because you were scared to see me?"
He sighs. He kind of knew that he wouldn't have much control over what happened once he was in the simulation, but the fact that he hasn't joined the surviving Remnants as intended is a bad sign. "Get off."
"Oooh, so forward!"
"Get off me, Junko."
She takes a few steps back, eyeing him up like she's taking inventory of his limbs.
"What happened to the trial? What's happening to them, while I'm here?"
"Who knows? Who cares? You didn't actually think this was about them, did you?"
"It is, for me."
"Not even that. Come on, those nutty senpais of ours were always just dolls. They're proxies. How about you put on your big boy pants, instead of wetting them, and talk to me directly."
"They're not dolls, and you're not her. She's dead."
"But I'm like her. Aren't I?" She traipses up to him again, trailing her nails lightly over his skin. "Aren't I enough like her?"
She looks completely real. The details of her skin, her eyes, are exactly the same. Her hair is frizzing from the spray of the sea. She's wearing a bathing suit, too. The top piece laces at the shoulders; it's tied into a bow on one side, but on the other it's just a knot. Imperfection. Realism. The placement of the sun directs his gaze to her, and her shadow snakes across the sand.
The sand feels real.
"This is cheating. You didn't win the trial. You haven't earned this. If you don't play fairly, you're admitting that they can beat you if you give-"
"Yawn! You're taking a leaf out of Kyoko's book. We already did this 'I owe you a trial' thing. Take a load off. We're one-one right now. You beat me once, I beat you once. Let's take a walk."
Makoto almost argues, but then he remembers the ancient ruins on the second island and considers that he might be able to get out through there. "Fine. Let's take a walk."
"Yay!" Junko bounces up and down, and he quickly looks away. "I just love this map. As soon as Kamukura plugged me in, I could just smell your nasty little hope-hands all over this thing. Did you notice, I kept all of your ideas in my version of the map, in some form or another."
Makoto starts walking toward the bridge. He did notice that the places that were removed or walled off wholesale were ones that were thought up by other people. He assumed it was a coincidence. After all, how would Junko know which ideas were his? "I'm glad they got to ride the rollercoaster. It looked like they had fun."
"Like we did."
He remembers that class trip. "Yeah. We did."
"Tampering with your map was more fun than this whole killing game. It was like we were making a baby together."
"N-No it wasn't."
"You planted the seed, and I-"
"Nope. I'm walking faster now." He power walks across the bridge.
"Oh no," Junko deadpans, remaining a step behind him. "Your legs. So long."

Project Eden's Garden Theories + Minor Analysis 🍎
Not a specific death order theory, just an excuse to yap because I'm hyperfixating
This is very long and it probably doesn't make sense.
🐍 Damon Maitsu- Ultimate Debater
Obviously everybody has the mastermind theory. It's the garden of eden and Satan was the snake. I do agree with the Satan analogy, but more so as an "outer" symbolism as opposed to an "inner" symbolism. Let me explain that better. I think that Damon will come of as antagonistic to the group because he says the right things in the wrong way. Like how he was trying to help everyone by telling them not to trust each other, but he was a dick about. Damon will play the Devil in the perception of the cast, but I don't believe that he will be actually behind the Killing Game.
🐦⬛ Eva Tsunaka - Ultimate Liar
I understand the first culprit theory. Eva is a similar name to Eve, Eve is the first human to sin, Eva is the first cast member to kill. That makes sense, but I see her taking on a more Kirigiri kind of role. Smart girl sort of side protag actively tries to hunt down the mastermind. However, since she's the Ultimate Liar and the cast already seems distrustful of her, I could see Eva discovering the secret to the killing game or the true mastermind but no body believes her which either leads to Eva killing the mastermind, or the mastermind killing/framing her. (Like Junko trying to frame Kirigiri in chapter five.)
🦈 Desmond Hall - Ultimate Marksman
I don't have much for Desmond. I feel like he'll either be a victim or a survivor. I can't see him as a culprit. At least not intentionally. I could see him trying to protect someone and killing their attacker in the process on accident, but I lean more towards a victim for him.
🦢 Eloise Taulner - Ultimate Fencer
I see Eloise as a survivor, but I lean towards a culprit. It's not a strong theory, but I see them trying to flip the shrinking violet trope on its head. In the chapter one preview from the San Antonio game expo we see Wolfgang trying to "help" Eloise by offering to walk with her before they go exploring and she seems to get annoyed with him. I could see this being a way to show that Eloise isn't a fragile as she let's on.
🦩 Toshiko Kayura - Ultimate Matchmaker
I want to believe that since she's literally a baby that she won't die, but part of me believes that since she's so young she will die. My current theory is that she's either the chapter one or two victim. I could definitely see the team choosing to kill her off early as a sort of "shock value" for the cast. Because I'm sure seeing a child get murdered would be more psychologically damaging then seeing an adult die. I'll be honest my Toshiko theory is kind of weak.
🐻 Wenona - Ultimate Entrepreneur
I see Wenona as a kind of Celeste character. The whole "if you do not adapt, you will die" mindset. I could see her staying distant from the group the majority if the time. I think that she will be a culprit, chapter three specifically. In the chapter on trailer we see during her free time event that the bear symbolism they gave her represents strategy. I feel like she'll have a really complex murder plot since she's obviously smart. She's also a Native American woman in the field of business. That's obviously not something easy. I highly doubt that she would give it up so easily. Plus, she's a billionaire. As much as I love Wenona, she's evil.
🦉 Ulysses Wilhelm - Ultimate Historian
Let me start by saying tat he is my favorite. Unfortunately, that means he's going to die. He writes everything in his notebook, if that doesn't sound like a major point of discussion in a trial, I don't know what does. I could also see him surviving, but I lean more towards a victim for him. The only reason I seem him surviving is that there could be this big moment in the final trial where they have to connect several seemingly unrelated notes in his notebook to find the big mystery or whatever. Anyway, I love him and if he dies I will lose it.
🐊 Mark "Mayhem" Berskii - Ultimate Music Producer
I can see Mark as a victim or a culprit and both of them revolve around Jett. As we see in the prologue, Mark is a very shy and reserved person. Obviously this paints a target on his back and any character who has a close friendship is another death flag. I could see him being killed and Jett falling into despair, or killing somebody with Jett.
💄Diana Venicia - Ultimate Cosmetologist
Diana is a character who I feel very strongly about as a survivor. It's not a strong theory, but it's just what feels right. Most people take the chameleon symbolism to be negative, but I don't see it as good or bad. I think it just emphasize that Diana is your average sixteen year old girl blending in with the crowd. She'd not a threat, she isn't aggressive, she just a teenaged girl. She is kind, she is helpful, she loves makeup. She just wants to love her life. She's so plain that she'll blend in and she will live.
🐑 Wolfgang Akire - Ultimate Lawyer
Oh boy, here we go. This is the big one. I believe that Wolfgang will either be a victim or a survivor. He will be the antagonist, but he is not a villain. Like I said for Damn who says the right thing in the wrong ways, Wolfgang will say the wrong thing is the right ways. I truly believe that Wolfgang has good intentions, but he is so optimistic and passionate that he lets his savior complex to bring everybody into a more vulnerable state. Like Damon's snake symbolism alluding to him bring the "devil" to the group, Wolfgang's sheep symbolism shows him as the "angel" to the group. The lamb of God, the Messiah, the guardian angel. He wants to save everybody, but he can't because he doesn't accept the horrible truth of the group's situation. He wants to believe that he can bring them to salvation, but a man can never be a God. My other theory is that he will be a final chapter sacrifice. A death is necessary for the group to escape and he will accept his new role of Martyrdom. Letting him finally become the savior he wanted to for the entire game.
🦋 Kai Monteago - Ultimate Influencer
Butterflies represent change, the butterfly effect. Kai will be the first culprit and this will lead to more fear without the group causing more people to want to kill. The flap of his wings will cause the tornado of death that will plague the group for the rest of the game. Short theory, but I feel strongly about it.
🐺 Jett Dawson - Ultimate Drag Racer
As I stated with Mark's theory, I see Jett as a culprit. Either Mark will be a victim and Jett will fall into despair driving him to murder in a later chapter, or he will kill somebody to escape with Mark. The only way this would work is a motive we're the backend can bring one person with them to the outside or they find a way for Jett and Mark to both equally be held accountable as the culprit. Though I'm not sure how something lijrme that could happen since the only instance is in SDRA2 chapter three and the plan behind that was bizarre (in a good way) and I doubt they could replicate anything similar.
🦁 Ingrid Grimwall - Ultimate Blacksmith
Ingrid is the only character I can't really think of anything for. I just have a strong feeling that she won't survive. Sorry.
🐲 Jean Delamer - Ultimate Ship Captain
I can see Jean as a chapter five victim. Since we see in the chapter one demo that he takes the hope speech guy role, I can see him dying fairly late in the game either as an "easy target" or since he's getting in the way of more murders happening.
🕷 Cassidy Amber - Ultimate Pro Gamer
I see Cassidy as a survivor, but I don't have any evidence. I just can't think of a theory for her as a victim, or as a culprit. She could also be the true mastermind, which is a fairly popular theory. That makes some sense considering her spider symbolism and the whole "tangled in a web" metaphor.
Thanks for reading!
Feel free to tell me any other theories you have!

"The pregames are the opposite of their ingames" hc is very good, but im very annoyed with how people carry it out! Do more than just making kokichi a soft crybaby, shuichi a yandere, and kaede a jerk!
Kokichi is guarded, calculated, and a (loveable sometimes, but still) asshole. So his reverse would not be an uwu soft boy, he'd probably lean more toward being kind though. Wouldnt it make more sense for this version to wear his heart on his sleeve? Not that he'd never ever lie, but he's definitely unfiltered, and couldnt plan or scheme to save his life. He's not flamboyant or loud, although maybe the reason he joins danganronpa is he *wants* to be, but instead the thing in game kokichi hates most. *Boring*. Predictable.
Shuichi being yandere makes me soooo mad. I hate it. BUT I do love him being a super fan of the games, and idolizing Kyoko. I dont think he'd be a junko fanboy, but like most fans of the game, agree that shes fun and iconic. My favorite hc I've given pregame Shuichi (or Kage i guess since thats the name people gave him for some reason?) Is that he is INSANELY confident. Did you see him in that tape!? He was so confident he was going to be a killer (but he also planned his own execution, so he knows that danganronpa would never let a killer go because that's not the point of the games, so hes got enough sense to realize that). If you havent noticed already, i reallyy like contrast and parallels, and pregame saihara being confident that he's the worlds best detective and most clever contestant is just amusing to me. I like this one a lot...<3 why does he have the hat in pregame? Uhhh idk, either he thinks it looks cool and mysterious (very likely), or he's just bad at eye contact (autism)
Kaede being Jecka from class of 09 coded is kinda funny to me tbh, but the whole "i have no faith in humanity!" line strikes me as she totally has a pinterest board of dark emo quotes and unironically believes them. You just know she tells people she has a dark and twisted sense of humor, and she loves danganronpa because shes soooo messed up. In game kaede is sweet, hopeful, and a leader, so this one is mean, doesnt believe in others, and girlfailure. I kinda love the all the same though, even if she couldnt inspire a plant to photosynthesize</3
"Wait wheres kaito" IDK WHAT TO SAY FOR KAITO. HES LIKE KAEDE BUT JOCK. IM DOING MAKI INSTEAD BECAUSE YOU LOT DID HER DIRTY.
Im so mad at peoples pregame maki. Why doesnt she get the swap treatment too, huh?! She deserves it! Maki is cold, calculated, strong, etc. So this ones my favorite. Shes a dork, she's still strong but very silly. She has a super loud laugh that she tries to cover, and i love her so so much. She definitely made her assassinsona though and showed it to tsmugi like shuichi did with his own detectivesona. Not because shes a dangan superfan! But because shes played assasins creed 5 times and can tell you how historically accurate it is with alarming detail. Shes clumsy and dorky but she is NOT weak or stupid, shes still like slightly intimidating just by sitting there (as is oma) but she wouldnt ever do anything! Shes just a lil gal!!<3 a little gal who has every historically significant posion memorized, but nevertheless!
(she listens to murder mystery podcasts with shuichi and she and kokichi are friends dont @ me.)
Ok ok, thats the end of my rant, i also kinda want to write a oneshot about shuichi and kokichis relationship because i have a super cool concept in my head. But we will see..
#Thanks for reading<33#tell me if u think i should do the others... i kinda wanna... i have Ideas for keebo specifically#Feel free to send an ask about any of this! "DR3 makes the Remnants of Despair blameless"
This is a statement I've heard many times before, and I think it's one that's both technically correct and also technically incorrect.
But overall, I think this is a statement that kind of ignores the nuance of what the "brainwashing" actually did or even the themes of the series. Because of that, I decided to make this post to clear up some confusion about this subject and explain my thoughts on it.
What the "brainwashing" actually is
For starters, no, brainwashing in Danganronpa does not turn them into mindless zombies and get rid of their "free will." I wrote an entire post about brainwashing on its own and the many misconceptions abut it. While there are some things I'd change or update now, I think overall it's pretty solid. The main reason I'm making this post though is to fill in a piece that I should have filled in then. But if you understandably don't want to read that massive post right now, I'll go over it again here.
The way the Despair video works in both Danganronpa Zero and Danganronpa 3 is that it uses subliminal messaging to strengthen the emotions that you are already feeling by watching the video. It does not "create despair," it amplifies it.
"'She just wanted to stir up the pent-up emotions of the Reserve Course. She got the Ultimate Hope involved in the whole thing for that sole reason, and then incited them all… No, it wasn't something simple like incitement… it was brainwashing.' 'Brainwashing…' Pain, along with violent itching, brought up that scene in my mind. The monitor's visuals I had seen beyond the Monokuma Heads in the underground facility. Crushing heads, cut-up faces, agonizing screams, the Mutual Killing's red lumps of flesh." -Referring to the despair video Ryoko watched in Danganronpa Zero
Notice how the phrases "incited" and "pent-up emotions" are used. Once again, this is because the subliminal messaging doesn't make you feel things, it amplifies what the video itself makes you feel.
This doesn't contradict Ryota's description of brainwashing, note how he describes it as "influencing" the viewer's brain, not controlling it.
This is also why I put brainwashing in quotes earlier, because Ryota says it's not just brainwashing, brainwashing techniques are just a part of it.
This is the whole reason why Junko needed to kill Chiaki in the first place, she needed a video that would make them emotional enough for brainwashing to have an actual substantial effect. If she just used the student council killing video, there's a chance they'd be able to resist it like Chisa or Ryoko did.
All the despair video did was overload them with feelings of despair, causing them to crave it as a way of coping with the despair that was just unleashed onto them.
The despair video did not:
Turn them into mindless zombies
Make them love or worship Junko
Remove their free will or ability to make decisions
All the video did was make them crave despair, how they went about it was entirely up to them. Like Nagito, for example, he gave into the despair by hating Junko, but he was never a mindless zombie.
In fact, I think even being able to resist the videos effects at all kind of implies that the video isn't forcing you to give into temptation. It gives you urges, but that's all. The Ultimate Despairs chose to give into their urges of despair. They also chose the methods of which they went about bringing despair. The video wasn't mind control, it doesn't have the technology to turn you into a mindless servant. In that sense, the despair video did not remove their autonomy and they still chose their actions.
Big fat massive however...
While it is true that their ability to choose what to do remained, the fact is that they only made the decisions they made and got their despair urges in the first place was because they were brainwashed. So it is also true that the person at fault isn't them, it's Junko and her video.
And that's the point, it isn't their fault that they made those choices. Some may say this is because Kodaka wanted to make them more redeemable, but I just completely disagree because it was always like this.
Makoto refers to them as victims at multiple points in Danganronpa 2, even saying that they were brainwashed and have the ability to go back to normal. Danganronpa 3 didn't make them more "blameless," it emphasized a theme and point that was there since the start.
Dialing it back
Themes of guilt and blame are things that have always existed in Danganronpa. I already mentioned how Danganronpa 2 refers to the Ultimate Despairs as victims, but there's plenty more examples of this.
Such as Ryota in Danganronpa 3. Ryota is threatened with his classmates' lives and is forced to develop the despair video for Junko. Would you say Ryota's at fault?
Of course not, and I doubt the anime wants you to believe that way either. But that doesn't stop Ryota from feeling this way. He's a victim, just like everyone else. A victim who was forced to make a choice that he now regrets.
Alternatively, we can look at Juzo as well. He was blackmailed with his biggest insecurity used against him, completely unaware of the despair that would soon follow. While you could argue he's more to blame than the others, the point is just like them, he was forced into a situation where he couldn't choose. He wasn't responsible for Junko's actions, but he still feels as if he was. He's a victim too. A victim who was also forced to make a choice that he now regrets.
This isn't a theme exclusive to Danganronpa 3. I already mentioned how it applies to Danganronpa 2, but it's been there since the first game.
When Chihiro feels at fault for judging Leon, Makoto tells them that it isn't their fault. Nor was it Sayaka's or Leon's. Even though they chose to kill, it was only because of the situation. It was the mastermind's fault, not theirs.
The big point
The big point throughout the series is that the many actions we see throughout the series are done so due to the situation these characters are forced in. From the very start, it's been established that the blame should go towards Junko, not her victims.
Guilt is a running theme in Danganronpa, even more so in Danganronpa 3. That's why the anime emphasizes it, showing us Junko's victims and how they were effected but also making it clear that even though they made the wrong choices, they only did so because of Junko.
Danganronpa 3 didn't make Class 77 "blameless." Saying so implies that the series wanted you to blame them in the first place.
What Danganronpa 3 did was emphasize the point and theme the series had been setting up for a long time. This is a story where Junko is the bad guy and these are her victims. This is how it is in the last entry, this is how it's been since the first game.
So yes, Class 77 chose to to give into their despair obsessed urges. Ryota chose to help make Junko's video. Juzo chose to lie about Junko. Chihiro chose to judge their classmates. Sayaka and Leon chose to attack. But they only made these choices because they were put into unavoidable situations by Junko.
It's not about who here is more guilty than the other, the fact is they're all victims of Junko at the end of the day. They were never supposed to be blamed, implying that Danganronpa 3 makes them blameless misses the point entirely.
You can say whatever you want about whether or not brainwashing is more or less interesting than the idea of Junko somehow manipulating 15 individual students that she doesn't care about in less than a year to turn them into despair super terrorists willing to hack off body parts and kill their own family, but at the end of the day I think saying that the brainwashing ruins the themes of Danganronpa 2 is just kind of incorrect.
Those are my two cents anyways.
