So originally I had wanted to do a comic retelling the Murdered Diplomat Case Except They're Both Girls This Time AKA Heiji's debut case, but I got about 8 pages into the storyboards before I realized it would be impossible within the exchange's time frame. The Murdered Diplomat case is really really long, even if I cut everything about the case out LMAO... here's what I had if anyone is curious!

It was already sprawling by my standards here. We're on page 8 and Heiji has nary shown her face in the Mouri Detective Agency (also boy Kazuha is there? The part with the details of the case was supposed to be sort of timelapsed through a bunch of texts Kazuha sent Heiji because he was worried about where she was) So in my desperation I tried redoing it from page 7 to be more concise:

This was the point where I was officially like yeah this is not happening this is going to take one william pages at this rate and I just am not going to have the time to do that!! So I scrapped it and started working on the final product you see up there.

(BTW IT'S REAL!! about 80-90% of the comic actually exists in the real world!! I actually drew and inked it physically this time!)

I had really WANTED to retell the Murdered Diplomat Case because I would have been able to totally recontextualize Heiji and Shinichi's relationship, because I do think it would have been kind of different.

For one, I think Heiji's adoration of Shinichi would have had a more desperate quality to it. Between the two of them, Shinichi is definitely the more self-assured one of the two. With her laissez-faire parents who just does whatever they want, I'm sure they would have been fine with letting Shinichi pursue her detective dreams (though I'm sure Yukiko's even more sad about Shinichi not being a child actress </3 whatever though who cares about that), and so she's more confident that it's something she can be.

Heiji on the other hand comes from a more traditional family. I think her parents would highly disapprove of her detective pursuits, and as a result she becomes a more rebellious child-- but one who harbors a deep insecurity about whether she's doing the right thing or not, even if she knows she wants it.

When Shinichi vanishes off the radar, it's more than just a person that Heiji's developed an intense parasocial relationship with going off the grid, it's an entire nail in the coffin of the idea that being a female high school detective is something that's possible at all. That's why she's so desperate to find Shinichi-- she needs assurance that this hiatus that Shinichi is taking is not because society or the world put her into her place and made her quit doing this, but because of... something else. It has to be something else.

This I think would really bleed into how Heiji ends up treating Conan. In canon Heiji's super dismissive of Conan, initially only treating his as a nuisance on the crime scene before he figures out that he's Shinichi, despite the fact he no doubt was in those shoes a decade ago. But because of the continual pushback from her parents, the officers on the scene, and friends (cough boy kazuha), the struggle of being treated like she isn't supposed to be there on the crime scene is much fresher in her mind. She sees herself in Conan much more than he does in canon.

So I guess all I'm saying is that I think Heiji would have been nicer to Conan in my retelling LOLLL

As for what's going on in the comic I actually posted... well, you know, this wasn't my first choice precisely because I don't think it's necessarily gendered as much? Like, I can see this playing out if they were both still guys as well, maybe even more. After all, girls in general are more able to be physically affectionate with each other while suffering fewer consequences.

At the same time though I think Shinichi has an intense "not like other girls" thing going on. This whole thing is actually a subset of my genderbend universe where the whole teenage cast gets swapped and actually it was originally me just wanting girl Shinichi to comfort boy Ran (but badly because she's lowkey kinda autistic and not great at that...) as his parents got divorced LMAOOO. But anyways it would mean that Shinichi's closest friends are... Sonoko and Ran? Who are both guys...

So I think she would intentionally distance herself from that physical affection girls are able to have. She feels like if she indulges in that, then everyone else will take her less seriously and think "oh she's just a girl after all" and all the negative connotations of not being as capable or as smart as she actually is. In my head, she associates physical affection with being manhandled as a kid.

Another thing I kind of waffled on was... what should Heiji and Shinichi call each other? And maybe it's a bit of a weird choice for them to still refer to each other by last name but like. Hear me out.

I think to refer to each other by their last names is a token of respect, especially from Heiji to Shinichi. He keeps slipping up in canon and accidentally calling him Kudo, and while I do agree that part of it is him being careless and possibly inconsiderate to some degree, I also think... he really wants to call him Kudo? Like, this is someone he deeply respects. He wants to be professional equals to him more than he wants to be friends at the start, but never was able to actually GET that kind of relationship due to contrived circumstances of Shinichi getting shrunk. He can't call Conan "Edogawa", that's weird as fuck, so he has to wait until Conan's back to being Shinichi to even begin calling him "Kudo" for real. I think he'd really relish it, as a long-time-coming kind of thing, and I don't think it's any different as girls. In fact I'd argue it's even more intense because of that.

These two characters are both in such an intense hurry to grow up. Hell, Shinichi even dislikes it in canon when his mother calls him Shin-chan, and I think it's because he feels like this diminishes his self-perception as a "grown person". All the more since they're girls: I think this type of affectionate, diminutive name-calling would have been used against them to try to coax them away from crime scenes they wanted to be at. Like, "Oh, come on~ You're just a little girl, you shouldn't be here, Hei-chan~", something like that.

I think this is sort of an implicitly understood undercurrent that lies between them. If we have nobody else in the world who respects us we at least have each other. So when Heiji tries to push their relationship a bit, tries to become more than just friends, Shinichi sees this as a betrayal in some ways. Even if she rationally knows that Heiji isn't trying to belittle her, she can't help but conflate her recent experiences as a little girl again with how Heiji treats her now in the comic.

This whole thing could have been avoided if Heiji was more straightforward about her intentions btw but of course see above careless and possibly inconsiderate PLUS he's also kind of a tsundere character like everyone in detco when it comes to the person he likes so. inevitable... </3

Anyways thank you for reading all of this nonsense. Originally this comic was going to be longer and like, (this is a grossly incompetent summary,) they'd have a yuri makeout session in the Kudo Mansion Study. But we can't have good things in this world because there's not enough time so I only have this to show for :(((

i like to think about how younger sam had almost no idea about periods. he probably heard things here and there about it whenever he was able to be in school, maybe even learned about it on his own because he's a curious, intelligent, and kind sweet boy!! but he's never very close with an afab person until he meets jess. he's naturally sweet and caring, so he learns quickly with her.

so when he's with you, he's ready and prepared to be the best boyfriend in the world. he learns what you need specifically and what you like best and it ingrains it in his memory!! (crying i know this isn't about samjess but everything is about samjess to me, so i'm thinking about the fact that he still remembers what jess liked the most :((( sobbing . like what if the first time you text him to pick up pads or something, he unconsciously grabs the kind she'd buy before remembering he can just ask what you want. he probably knows your favorite candies by then, so he doesn't think to grab jess's, but he does remember. i just love them a lot SORRY) ANYWAYS !!!

i'm crying at the idea of sam only letting you braid his hair when you're on your period because you'll get upset if he doesn't LOL but that he secretly really likes it and would totally let you do it any other time if you ask him sweetly enough. and on the topic of laying on tummies <3 for some people, pressure makes cramps feel better. and i just imagine sam absolutely melting and wanting to CRY at how in love and endeared he is with you if you ask him to lay his head on your tummy to help with the pain. while he's there, he'll tell stories and gently massage your legs or just lightly rub over your sweet skin <3

speaking of massages i think he's the bEST at giving them!! his hands are so big, which helps massively, and then his touch is so gentle, yet steady and it is just so completely soothing <3 he loves being able to take even a little bit of your pain away. and he hatesss to see you in any pain he's so :((( so he does everything in his power to make it as bearable as he can!!!

ofc everyone has different experiences with their periods, but i know that in the hunting context, i personally would have such a shit ass time with my period because i doubt it'd be too easy to get birth control to tame my horrible cramps. so i think about how concerned sammy is when he realizes just how bad it can get :( headcanon that jess probably got pretty bad period cramps too but i can imagine she had access to birth control or meds to help out, so when he sees you in so so much pain he's so so worried :((

he feels soo so awful seeing you throw up or get faint or even pass out from the pain because he knows he can't fix it. so instead he's just so so caring and soft and perfect about it. especially if it gets this bad for you, he's extra careful to keep track of your period to make sure that you're never going to be doing anything strenuous during that time. if you're in pain while on the road, he gets in the back seat with you to hold you and put his warm hands on your belly until you can stop at the nearest gas station to get you a hot water bottle or something for the pain. he's perfect and i love him so much and i need need need him to take care of me while i'm on my period lol

Rapid fire Fairy Tail rewatch thoughts. May or May not expand upon each point later on.

The female cast is so good idc what anyone says obviously the fanservice is awful BUT I will say, in the earlier arcs, it actually felt decently balanced because of Gray's whole stripping shtick + Natsu's cunty vest wasn't particularly modest either LOL.

Erza is such a wonderful character. I've seen comments that she goes downhill like 100yq onwards but. Um. 100yq characterisation.... that's a whole post of its own.

I never expected to like Lucy so much. idc that it takes her like 200 episodes to win a fight solo because when she FINALLY DOES IT WAS THE BEST MOMENT OF THE SERIES BY FAR. characters who's defining traits r kindness and compassion <33

Interesting how Lucy is the traditional shounen protag (underdog, skills develop overtime) because the rest of team Natsu sans Wendy were all like ... already kinda OP established mages even at the beginning.

I know there are debates ab who really is the protag and imo the narrative skews towards Natsu more BUT. it's bizarre how unexplored he is for a main character. Like yes he is my favourite character other than Lucy but his inner psyche is barely explored it's so weird. He doesn't really have a character arc either??? I'll expand on this more once I finish post tartaros (lolll not looking forward to that) and once again it seems like he's completely regressed from what I've seen of 100yq.

I don't agree with comments that Natsu can't be traditionally romantic. Like, I definitely don't think he would ever have the natural inclination to be that way as a part of his character on its own. BUT considering iconic rainbow sakura moment I fully believe he would do whatever it is that would make Lucy happy. And if that includes red roses and candlelit dinners he would absolutely try his best.

Nalu moments r seriously. so good.

I totally see why Juvia stans don't like gruvia. But unfortunately I like them. And I've slightly rewritten them in my head so that juvia doesn't get completely flanderized LOL.

the Natsu Erza Gray sibling relationship goes soooo hard.

Just in general there's something beautiful about the way Fairy Tail handles it's numerous platonic and romantic relationships. Nothing feels secondary yk. Everything is given its due time (except maybe NALU goddammit).

I LOVE THAT FEMALE CHARACTERS HAVE DEEP COMPLEX RELATIONSHIPS IRRELEVANT TO THE MALE CAST. Lucy and Levy, Lucy and Yukino, whatever combination between Erza Lucy Wendy, Lucy Flare, Wendy Shelia, Wendy Carla etc

Even when the relationship involves a man in some kind of way like eg Lucy Cana or Erza Kagura it's still not like... in a bad way. The friendship itself is still there, it's just that the inciting incident tends to involve a dude.

Speaking of Lucy having so many deep female friendships is a big reason why I like Nalu so much lol. Like I literally do not care ab ships in media but fairy tail.... just has that something...

Love how often everyone changes outfits.

This show desperately needed a mini arc somewhere with just Natsu Lucy Happy going on a low stake job, where Natsu actually opens up ab his emotions and his relationship with Igneel.

Needed more Natsu and Igneel flashbacks in general.

Wendy triple combo abandonment issues are not talked ab enough holy shit. Grandeeny, Mystogan and then her entire guild???!

Lucy's relationship with her dad was objectively so well written. I skipped starry skies arc sorry the pacing was destroying me so I can't speak on that. But everything else was just BEAUTIFUL.

The fact that she returns to him just to tell at him. The fact that he comes to her with money problems and she STILL stands her ground. The fact that it's HIM who has to better himself and earn HER forgiveness.

Even after it seems like they're on ok terms, Lucy mentions in tenrou that they don't keep in contact, which is soo... realistic...

and then his death... Shout-out to Natsu who actually is emotionally quite mature (as the author himself seems to have forgotten) and dealt with it wonderfully. He gave Lucy her space, he let her vent, he stopped Happy from interfering too much. + Lucy being conflicted ab it and clearly grieving what could have been instead of what was. sighhh. .

idc ab no deaths but I do wish they didn't do fake out deaths as often. Because when actual loss sticks, it's done super well imo. Ultear, Aquarius, I haven't hit this part yet but Igneel... (yes I'm ignoring 100yq)

Someone pointed out that Natsu didn't reallyyy hang out with anyone other than Happy pre canon and it changed my life. Every time I notice him and Lucy casually hanging out now I start screaming.

HAPPY IS SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER IDC. His edolas character arc was incredible, his relationship with Lucy is just as (if not more) fleshed out as his one with Natsu and that's part of what makes them such a great trio.

Babe let me know what you think of this idea for yan satosugu because the brain worms have been at it so bad this week. Medical AU where reader who was previously healthy has gotten an illness that’s been bothering her for about a month until it becomes unbearable and she has to go to the hospital. She was putting it off because she’s got a HUGE needle phobia and general fear of hospitals and procedures etc. Now idk if you wanna make both of them doctors, we did get that panel of nurse Geto but in the satosugu dynamic I feel like it would be Gojo as the nurse. Regardless, our healthcare heathens here don’t wanna discharge their darling little patient so easily. Probably doing unnecessary treatments just to keep her sick and dependent. Ohohoh so much to play with here, the medical play, if she hasn’t been visiting doctors regularly how would she be able to discern what is a red flag in their treatment especially when the doctor with the silver tongue explains it all so rationally you ought to trust him right? They have constant access to any medicine, the perfect tactics of isolating her if they put her in quarantine. Reader stressing because if she takes too much sick leave she’ll be fired from her job not to mention all the medical debt, my, my it’s so over. It would be really cool to have a reader who is absolutely a fighter I’m talking biting, scratching, screaming, thrashing, clawing kicking. She’s not going down without being knocked out and even after she wakes up she’s at it again. Literally doing anything to stop her phobias and fears from happening just to be free. In a lot of works reader is often paralyzed with fear which isn’t bad but I so badly wanna see a fighter (maybe bc when I read I’m like “pshh I wouldn’t let that slide” lolll ) and how she slowly breaks or breaks free your choice. Because of your background in chemistry and I’m assuming biology too because I bet you had to take some courses in order to complete the major, you’re the perfect person to request this to!!!! Ever since I read You Just Can’t Play God I was ascending. Your writing is so expressive and emotional like I’m really going through it here and it’s so addictivly tragic every time. And I could tell that you but your background knowledge into that fic and it deserves MORE LOVE so I’m giving it to you 💖💖💖thinking of this always. Wahhhh I go crazy for science fiction and medical horror and a yandere doctor is such bad news let alone two!!!! I kinda feel bad for making such a lengthy request and especially since you mentioned about wanting to post some more wholesome satosugu content and I come in with this🤡. ahh, steven st.one. a wild card in my f/o list. i never thought i'd find myself to like him... i've always tried my best to avoid the pretty boy design after i've gotten older which is why i was oddly in denial during my early steven days hehe... the earliest memory i have of him is just me battling him in my ruby emulator back in the 4th grade - but i don't think i actually remembered him too well, i only thought he looked like a silly anime version of the classical composer be.ethoven and tbh, i still like to think he does look like him in the rse style lolll 💜

for the whole, actual story - it was just last year - i was reading the r/s arc, of course. it was one of those days in school where i had nothing much to do and snuck my phone to read manga to pass some time. at some point, my classmate joined to read with me - it was at this moment where steven debuts properly and it caught my classmate by Surprise. she thought he looked very handsome! to which i teased her... strangely enough, this exchange impacted me? maybe it's because someone acknowledged what i was doing and even bothered to briefly read along with me - so in a way steven kinda bookmarked that memory.

so after that exchange, i just kept on reading. everytime he had something to say, i couldn't help but just stare at his face? he looked nice, i guess? he's also very gentle and polite... i kept this thought of mine for quite sometime until i was discussing the manga arc with my p.okespe mutual and he mentioned him. i somewhat confessed he looked nice and that was the biggest mistake i've ever done because what my friend did after was absolutely blow me with art after art of the pretty rock collector and i was STRUGGLING. it ultimately came down to this one cute panel in the o.ras chapter where he was blushing and I wasn't the same person since then 🚶🚶🚶and funnily enough, i told myself I wasn't going to fall for anyone because of the manga and whoopedoo p.okespe!steven my beloved the greatest man ever. i mean i love the game counterpart as well, they're nearly identical - it's just the manga that totally swept me... sighhhh

steven is such a nice character to begin with, he's honestly a very humble and nice champion. he's not showy about his identity and would rather be alone by himself to indulge in what he wants. he is willing to give up a very respectable position in the po.kemon league just to pursue his interests and with that i see a man not after power and fame but a man who just wants to find joy in what he does even if it demotes him. on top of that, he's just a sweet gentleman. he was raised well of course, and you can see it clearly in his acts in the story. i love him very much for that and who wouldn't want those traits?

i was really absolutely embarrassed to be all over this guy at first - it took a whole month for me to actually share to my blog about how i liked steven and took awhile to adjust to that fact that i opened up about it 😭 but the community was very kind and supportive about the pairing and if i'm being honest, i think stevaide made a super lasting impact on my blog recently and it's really so comforting to picture them as a young loving married couple with ruby. it made me feel unashamed with what i can do with my silly ships. i'm still very glad for the endless support for steven and jaide.

i’ve been here for a while and i still don’t know how to use this app anyways i need somewhere to post all my really random sampard headcannons so here we are honestly it’s really just random bullet points i’ve compiled and also most of this was written at 2am so there might be some spelling mistakes.. probably one other thing to mention, im not a lore reader,, i’ve been trying to recently because i find it really interesting but any details i’ve missed is bc i haven’t read it all yet 💔💔

gepard although hes not too great at taking plants (hes def trying tho) id like to think in his spare time he has like a book on floriography and goes to flower shops to buy sampo flowers with specific meanings?(like he goes to a flower shop and requests very specific types of flower arrangements)

sampo knows a LOT of things about belebog that no one else does some kind of like historical knowledge however i think the reason why sampo wont actually KNOw any floropgraphy is because with all his vast knowledge from across the universe as a masked fool, why would he bother to know something as ‘mundane’ as the meaning behind flowers.

to link to that, i think with sampos big world he sorrta gets dragged down to belebog in like a nice way and through gepard learns that the small things in life ACTUALLY matter or they noow matter. so for example these flowers he gets he never knows the meaning of them, def gets flustered by gepard initiating anything at all lmao.

i think sampo would ask around the underworld such as natasha, seele, even hook tbh about the meaning behind these flowers usually getting information from natasha. BUT he doesnt just outright ask he would like slip it into conversation because hes sly like that. Natasha very obviously catches on quite early on and although shes not as knowledgeable with the meanings she still retains enough information for sampo to start relying on her to help decode gepards bouquet.

one way or another serval catches wind of this (through natasha) and i think thats how she connects the dots

sampo most definitely leaves back notes with kisses on them on gepards windowsill (gep leaves his windows unlocked always.)

i can also imagine sampo to ‘retaliate’ somehow finding some extinct belobog flower and gifting it to geppie being all like ‘i bet ya can’t find the meaning behind this one’ lolll

gepard is a gay in denial in the sense that hes never had a crush on a woman but he sees madam poisson and he has a MASSIVE crush on her. everytime serval asks him if hes gay he brings up his ‘past’ crush on madam poisson.

GIRLLLLL!!!!! Maddie you are certifiably insane cause this chapter was seriously one of my faves so far. I saw the note at the beginning of the chapter and I was like... she didn't...oh wait she totally did. As someone who was praying for them to spend Max's rut together I definitely felt a little vindicated but I have to hand it to you I wasn't even totally sure until the last minute. It cracked me up so much how easily and quickly Max folded about spending his rut with Charles in the end. I love how whipped they are for each other lolll

We have to talk about the sex because it was sooo worth the wait. We got rut and heat sex combined, and so much breeding kink, so much possessiveness, the bigger knot, I was very satisfied. Not to mention the biting omg. I can't with Charles just now starting to think the bites are super hot. Like girl, we've been trying to tell you that this whole time. But I love that for him really. And Max not being concerned at all about Charles biting him either actually made my heart clench cause he's come so far with trusting him.

But I actually screamed when I got to the cliffhanger. Every time I think you've been so kind and spoiled us with an amazing chapter there's always gotta be something! okay so I feel like her main requirements for a dog would be: low-maintenance (due to her long hours at work), protective (one of her main reasons for getting one would be for her own sense of ease after one too many anxious nights deprived of sleep), relaxed personality-wise (she would one hundred percent not be able to handle an extremely energetic dog) and physically active (so she can jog w it)

I have consulted w a dog expert (aka my gf) about which dog would fit all these requirements, and his answer was a kangal, so let's go with that

when lee's first introduced to this dog at the shelter, she is... slightly terrified KDJDKDJ listen, she can barely handle a child, so seeing the first kangal, a huge, intimidating dog, is enough to have her blinking hard at the photograph, gulping LMAO

but, it is, however, the only dog that really fits all of her desires, so she's introduced to three of them, which really just consists of her standing awkwardly next to each. she doesn't know what qualifies for the "clicking" the staff keeps swearing by, and just watches each dog she's introduced to from a tentative distance, observing it carefully. the friendlier one moves to approach her, which leads to her stepping away, lips pursing in embarrassment when the staff member laughs

eventually, she's introduced to a rescue named jasper, who was recently given up. like the other two that came before him, his size is formidable and has her slightly shifting at first sight. but, he doesn't make any move to come closer. he keeps his distance, watching her just as carefully as she does him

after the guy standing by her whips his head, back and forth, between them, he says, "okay, this might be a match"

and that's how, after way more paperwork, screening and procedure than she anticipated, lee winds up up with a dog

totally underestimates how much of a commitment it is on her end. she's calling the trainer whose number was given to her nearly everyday, asking a string of confused questions as to how to handle this or that LMAOOOO

as selfish as it sounds, she had only really desired the dog for protection purposes -- she didn't expect that she'd actually need to put so much work into bonding w him DJSKDJSK

because jasper is already trained by his last owner, she essentially has to re-establish those already existing skills by going on walks with him and trying out commands in different places. in addition to this, she needs to play games with him. in all honestly, she's not really thrilled at the idea at first. sure, an animal might be easier to socialize with, but that doesn't make the task of it any less draining on her, someone who'd infinitely prefer to just keep to herself

ensue the next few weeks, where lee gets up an hour early every morning to walk with jasper through the mass of trees surrounding her forest. in her pocket, she carries treats, and a note scrawled with directions she had written during her phone call, with things such as: for "look at me" command, hold treat in front of face, then try different places, then different situations, then do it holding finger between eyes

she seriously wonders if this is what it's like to raise a kid LMFAOOOO. she feels a tad silly guiding jasper, never having been one who particularly enjoyed teaching -- when she has, it's been for intellectual reasons, rather than the position of power, so having nothing to teacher jasper but such basic commands is a bit out of her league. expect her to be extremely particular about everything, repeating the trainer's words in her mind as she helps jasper sit by moving her hand w the treat and marking on her calendar when she should start trying to slowly remove the treat from the equation and use the commands in different settings

and that's when the first bolt of something, tenderness, shoots through her. the first time she doesn't give jasper the treat, her stomach tightens in acute sadness at the sight of him expecting it. when he manages to successfully follow her directions, she tries to be a bit more enthusiastic in her "good boy" and head pat, which are usually done in her typical flat tone and light, barely there touches

combine this w boundary training, and she feels like a full time mom LMFAO

when she slowly stops actively training with him, sleeping in instead of spending the daily hour with him, she's surprised at just how... off her day feels without it

I think the first few weeks he spends guarding her house, she's wracked with anxiety for him. what if someone harms him? she knows kobble is gone, but apparently intensive therapy hasn't been enough. not only is she still afraid for herself, but now she feels accountable for anything that happens to the dog. with time, she's able to manage the anxiety better, forcing herself to stay in bed and do breathing exercises rather than repeatedly wander onto her porch and worriedly look for jasper's large form (yes it takes many days for her to not immediately jump at the side of his large form emerging from the trees)

it takes her a while to see their bond as anything beyond... professional (her coworkers laugh right at her face when she uses this phrasing LMAO). the walks, the playing catch, it's really just for the sake of getting him accustomed to her commands. aside from that, she doesn't really... interact w him unless it's necessary, like when she feeds him or when she pats him solely for the sake of helping him with commands

but, every now and then, she feels this care and worry for him. when the weather starts getting colder, it makes her uncomfortable to see him asleep on the cold, hard ground. she knows he's built for it, and probably barely senses it with how large he is. but, still...

cue two weeks later, she's waking early again to build jasper a dog house (yes I'm convinced lee is good w woodwork and yes I'm projecting)

when he first goes into it and curls up, she can't help but feel warm satisfaction roll through her, happy to know she contributed to his comfort the way he does for her

it all gets more heightened when one night, a car drives too close to her house, and the flashing lights and lingering driver has her breaths shortening, stomach seized so tightly with panic that she drops her gun to the floorboards of her porch, watching the lights slowly disappear into the trees with tear-filled eyes

she flinches when jasper gets close to her, her breathing still heavy and shaky, stomach curled with nausea. he keeps his space, watching her with levelled eyes. when the intentional breathing isn't enough to anchor her, she raises a trembling palm up, tears slipping out when he raises his head to it and nuzzles softly. feeling the softness of his head, the heavy presence of him next to her, helps her ground herself

seeing him be so in tune to her feelings, and so willing to help her, cracks the professionalism in her, and she finds herself vulnerable with him for the rest of the night, tossing on her winter jacket and smoking on the porch while he sits next to her on the steps. when her tears subside, she remains there for another hour. for months, she had feared coming out onto her porch at night, but now, it feels a bit easier

the next day, when she returns early from work, she watches him for a few seconds from her car, sound asleep in his doghouse. he's still intimidating, still larger than life, but something in her softens at the sight

lee starts spending several evenings a week w him, sitting out on her porch and looking through case files, listening to her walkman or just smoking (she finds out that smoking next to a dog is not good, so she now keeps jasper at a distance when she does)

it's nice. he's calm, levelled, a lot like her, so it doesn't feel overwhelming to be in his company. and it's just nice to have some company at all. she's always liked the solitary nature of her home, but since kobble, more and more moments have occurred where the isolation of her home feels like a threat. and jasper, in his own way, helps, a lot

and it turns out he can be pretty... fun company, honestly. the more she bonds with him, and the closer they get, she finds herself loosening up with him. it's been years, probably a decade, since she's actually played in the most literal sense of the word. with the obligation of training out of the way, and her own comfort having bloomed with him, it becomes easier to eventually forgo the embarrassment of running around the trees and playing frisbee with jasper.

she feels like a kid again, and she surprises herself one day by actually laughing when jasper misses catching a frisbee

and when she trips, he immediately runs to her, ducking down to check on her, and it's almost laughable how embarrassed she is to have tripped in front of a dog LMFAOOOO

weeks later, and the two of them are going on her morning jogs together, racing each other through the snowy trees, and at least for a few moments, lee can forget her troubles

she realizes just how attached she is when it's raining hard one night, and, pierced with sympathy, she calls him in and spends the evening with him sitting at her feet while she sits at her desk and does work

she also totally lets him sleep in her bed that night, and though his formidable size is really awkward to adjust to at first, she winds up spending the entire night immensely comforted by his presence, waking with her arm tossed over him while he watches her over

she leaps back at the sight of him LMFAO but trust me, in a matter of months, her and jasper have several little sleepovers hehe

I recently described Aurélie as a "newly adopted cat" and I don't think I'll ever come up with a better way to describe the way she handles affection, lolol. Bit skittish and wary at first, but the more you keep at it, the more she'll start to enjoy it (but she'll pretend she doesn't.)

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Most of Aura's friendships start out with the other person being strangely persistent about befriending her until she eventually comes to accept them being a part of her life, lol. 

She likes to make her friends feel pretty (regardless of their gender). She'll braid/play with their hair, randomly buy them pretty things or expensive clothes, gift them items from her own wardrobe that she doesn't want any more, take them shopping.

She's very distrustful of anyone who shows romantic interest towards her friends and will give them the stink-eye until they prove themselves worthy ("But are you sure you like him?")

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

With Sebastian "Physical Affection" Sallow as her partner, she doesn't have much of a choice, lol. But yes, once the newly adopted cat feels comfortable in her surroundings, it's virtually impossible to pry her away from the warm cozy cuddles.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

She's a Taurus rising homebody who craves stability and love, so she definitely wants to settle down. Her house would be aesthetic af (probably somewhere in the south of France by the ocean), and she'd have a cute little garden and a bunch of smol cute doggos (and eventually some smol cute kiddos). She'd be a total domestic goddess.

She never gave much thought to marriage (or romance in general) until she fell in love with Sebastian, but after that, she knew she'd never love anyone as much as she loves him and honestly gets low-key impatient waiting for him to propose.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

She might have a cute li'l French-girl temper, but she's suuuch a gentle soul underneath it all. She struggles so much with her Ancient Magic because of how destructive it is; the thought of hurting people, whether by accident or otherwise — even if it's to defend herself — is unbearable. If she could rid herself of the power, she would do it without hesitation.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

She'll give hugs if they're needed or meaningful, but she doesn't go around hugging people willy nilly. She's not comfortable with excessive physical contact, but she'll tolerate it if one of her friends is the affectionate sort (ie literally all of them including her bf lolll).

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

HAHAHAaa twenty one chapters deep into Villain and she's not even close to saying it even though she knows it. She tends to show that she loves you through actions.

J= Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they're jealous?)

Not reeeeally. If anything, she gets insecure and will genuinely wonder why anyone likes her. She carries a lot of personal guilt over the losses in her life and tends to project those feelings onto the people she loves.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Being kissed in the centre of her forehead is her absolute favourite; it immediately makes her feel calm and loved and protected. Her favourite place to kiss is the underside of Sebastian's jawline since he's so much taller than she is.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

While she's not super clucky and doe-eyed around them, she's surprisingly patient with children. As a mama, she'd be very hands on, teaching them how to garden without magic the way her Papa taught her, playing make-believe and encouraging their creative play.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Aurélie is up and at'em with the sun, fresh as a daisy, probably dragging a grumbling Sebastian out of bed to watch the sunrise, pottering around the garden, baking bread, drinking tea, walking the dogs, going for a swim in the sea aka absolutely thriving.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Night time is when she gets all soft and cuddly, which means good luck having any personal space or getting anything done because Aura is gonna cling. Newly adopted cat, remember? Wants cuddles. Needs belly rubs. Not that Sebastian ever complains about it, only he's had to learn how to read and study with a cute girl climbing all over him and falling asleep in his lap and making his legs numb because he doesn't wanna risk waking her up by moving.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

If she isn't directly asked questions, she won't willingly reveal anything about herself. She's very guarded and prefers to listen than to talk, so if she trusts you enough to tell you her secrets, you best believe you mean a lot to her.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

LOL listen. Bebe isn't known for her patience. She isn't easily angered (contrary to popular belief), but if she believes you've wronged her or behaved unacceptably, she will have no hesitation in letting you know about it — and it will be very French. She may be quiet, but she's certainly not shy.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Since she's the Queen of diverting attention away from herself, she learns a lot about the people she cares about. She's also got a fantastic memory and will likely remember things you mentioned in passing one time several years ago. Also means she'll never forget it if you offend her lol.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

Laughter! Sebastian is very good making her laugh when she least suspects it, and it's one of her favourite things about him. Aurélie is very introspective, can get stuck in her own head, and if she's gets onto a rant about something, it's hard for her to stop, so any moment when Sebastian disarms her by making her laugh is a moment she treasures.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Given what she's been through, she is pretty distrusting of new people. If her friend has a new love interest, she'll immediately dislike that person and probably try to convince her friend not to bother lolll. She doesn't give away her love easily and ia very protective of the special few who receive it.

Sebastian is insanely protective of her, of course. It's basically how he courts her HAHA.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

She's like, famous for her gifts. Since her primary love language is gift giving, she pays special attention to all your favourite things and collects little gifts whenever she finds them. Doesn't even need to be a special occasion, either — often times, she'll just gift you something simply because it reminded her of you. It's how she tells you she cares about you.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

HAHA listen, she's a perfect angel who's never done a thing wrong in her life HOWEVER she is extremely stubborn, infuriatingly closed off and would rather eat flobberworm fritters every day of her life than ever ask for help. If she isn't being constantly drawn out of her shell, she'll stay in it forever.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

I'm always wary when creating "conventionally beautiful" characters that their looks don't become their entire personality, but if you've read Villain, you'll know that Aurélie doesn't think much about her looks. And that's because, well — she's just naturally beautiful. She doesn't have to think about it. Sure, she likes to look pretty, and she loves beautiful clothes and nice things, but she doesn't actively have to try very hard to achieve it. If anything, her focus is more on how she should "behave" or "present herself". Even in early chapters, Sebastian's descriptions of her physical appearance are always based on how "elegant" she is rather than how pretty she is, because that's what Aura is focused on projecting.

For example, from chapter three:

Finally, when 'Collins, Aurélie' was called to take the stool, the new girl stepped up to the podium with all the grace of a ballerina taking to the stage, her head held high despite the clear look of anxiety on her face. Sebastian rolled his eyes again; she wouldn't last a day in Slytherin - not being as delicate as that — the snake pit would devour her alive.

She definitely has pretty privilege in that people are naturally drawn to helping her, giving her gifts or going out of their way to make her feel comfortable, but she's genuinely pretty clueless of the effect her beauty has on others.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Absolutely. Being so guarded, once she loves you, she won't ever stop. The loss of someone she loves is a pain she'll hold onto forever.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

She thinks butterbeer is the most revolting to ever exist, and the first time she tried it with Sebastian, she accused him of pranking her ("people actually drink this?!")

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn't like, either in general or in a partner?)

Being unkind to animals, and littering. And in modern au, smoking would be a huge ick.

She can't sleep without a light on. It's absolutely non-negotiable; if there isn't a light source, she won't fall asleep. Lucky for her, Sebastian is a night owl and is usually awake reading long after she falls asleep, so it works for them.
