The Spider²
the new spiderman game has me thinking about my Spiderverse OCs
Ven and Parker, aka the Spider², they both took over the mantle after the original Spider-Woman of their universe retired. They have frequent competitions to see who gets to have The Spider title for the week.
Ven's temper sometimes gets the best of her, happens to the best of us

Just to clarify - I didn't go into depth in the other post because that wasn't the point at all of the post and I didn't want to derail - but Arabic *does* have three vowels that would correspond to 'a', 'i', and 'o' in English, but Arabic does NOT write those vowels in case of a short vowel sound, only in case of a long vowel sound.
For example, just using English words to demonstrate: the word 'son' or 'sun' would be written as 'sn'. The word 'soon', however, WOULD include a written vowel. The word 'tin' would be written as 'tn'. The word 'teen' would include the written vowel, and so on.
Also these three vowels are sometimes written but not used as vowels at all, but rather as 'y', 'w', and glottal stop sounds, so trying to transliterate English into Arabic and vice versa and expecting a perfectly consistent spelling is a fool's errand. Often people who work in translation and need to transliterate something in English that doesn't have an Arabic equivalent will break the rules (write a vowel where normally in Arabic you wouldn't write one) just to make it read easier.

last thought before i sleep i Do fear that reading nothing but fanfiction for 4 years when i was 14-18 severely stunted my brain. this is not to say that fanfiction is bad: theres fanfics that are extremely well written, which are markers of any good authors out there- but since it relies so heavily on building off of a foundation and reforming the same work over and over they tend to follow a certain flow and pattern in plot, the way characters interact, the way dialogue and action intersect, etc etc. ive been trying to read more books now but i still find it easier to read through fanfic because instinctively, i know what to expect going forward because of my existing knowledge of the characters and the fanon. you have to wash out your brain and prepare to engage anew when youre reading a new book, which takes more effort the longer youre away from it. but thats just me and i can write a fucking paper on the ways fic marketing has its own popular checks and standards as well

Sorry if this was asked already, disregard if that’s the case haha, but will we have options on how we deal with our rage?
I want my Ares to be a feral, rage-filled chaos gremlin, but that has the chance to take their rage out in healthy ways as well as unhealthy ways. Like, Ares jealous regarding the ROs? Will swallow that shit down only to evicerate a punching bag later, or demo a house, or run multiple marathons. Might also drink themself stupid, chainsmoke 13 packs, pop some pills, or beat the daylights outta someone who knows. Depends on the vibe.
Kind of yes. The major choices you can make regarding your anger managment are a bit limited. Everyone automatically starts with wanting to just hit stuff, which is why you're a boxer. But I also have you choose vices. It's only a handful (currently 4, but I might change it to be 3 or 5, depending on a few things.) and I want each vice to actually affect the story in major ways, as well as affect how the characters feel about you when they learn of said vice. For instance: Dating Mitch is going to be pretty hard if you're an alcoholic. There will be chances to take your rage out in general ways as well, like exercising. But the major way you'll take care of it is through vices.

As I said I would, I drew my oc with yours my beloved @clawdouobit
My pretty girl likes to infodump your pretty girl about the smallest things. She's like a reel, talks a lot but most of it is meaningless.
Close ups and more info because I can't shut up ehtier under the cut <3
20 years old and engaged to a half-foot. They're waiting to gain some more money to get married and leave the dungeon. Note: they're best friends but idk if what they have going on is truly romantic love or just a very good friendship.
Quite skilled at upper levels, but wouldn't go to lesser levels. She isn't skilled enough to make her party survive there.
Her race is a mix between gnome and half-foot. Idk if that's possible but I don't think it's not.
If I had to guess, she's 13/14 on half-foot standars. It's unclear whether she's an adult or not, but she's preety mature most of the time. Most.
Flushed cheeks always. Also very pale.
She's 109 cms tall, a lot more than avarage on haflings, but lot less than avarage on gnomes. Since she hangs out mostly with haflings, she's a giant woman. This gives her some problems with traps so her BMI is 18 due to diet.
Fwens with Shahad. Who knows why tho. We gotta figure that out ;}

Somewhat more controversially - beyond just well-written characters, I think a lot of people find themselves repeatedly drawn to particular Types of characters. And I think the frequency with which those types appear, and the particular flavor of those types, is often (unnecessarily!) gendered. (Sticking with the espionage theme: it’s pretty difficult to find clever, calculating, socially astute female spy characters whose tradecraft doesn’t hinge primarily or at least very heavily on their sex appeal). TL;DR even very well-written female characters are often (unnecessarily!!!) confined to a much more limited set of narrative roles and archetypes.
And while I’m definitely not saying this is something we should all just accept completely uncritically, I do think it’s a pretty undeniable factor in why a lot of people’s lists of favorite blorbos might be kinda dude-heavy.

A question, if I may? Do you think Anakin, as he was when he first joined the Jedi Order in TPM, was doomed to fail as a Jedi, so to speak? In-universe, not out-of-universe meta. At that point, do you think it could have gone either way for him, in that he was still capable of becoming a Jedi? And may I be cheeky and ask for full details of why you think that, one way or another?
I've written a post about this before because my answer to this kind-of encapsulates my primary interpretation of Anakin as a character.
In case people don't want to click the link, I'll rehash it a little below.
I think Anakin never would've been a good Jedi because by the time you reach him in TPM, he's already the kind of person whose values and desires don't match up with the Jedi lifestyle. This doesn't make him a bad PERSON, at all, and he's entirely capable of getting a lot of good out of the Jedi's teachings. I think that Anakin was capable of really being able to HEAL through Jedi training, but that if he had been able to really learn from them the way he should've, he would've left the Order voluntarily eventually out of recognition that this life ISN'T WHAT HE REALLY WANTS. Anakin doesn't WANT to be as limited as the Jedi are forced to be by making themselves answer to the Senate and the Chancellor. Anakin DOES want to be able to prioritize the people he personally cares about (in the more normal way that people tend to do, not the genocidal way he does in canon).
And all of this is FINE. Honestly, I think this is the ultimate good outcome for Anakin, to spend enough time with the Jedi to allow their teachings to heal him from his past and give him control over himself to the point that he can pursue the life he really wants in a healthy way. I think Anakin was always capable of being an incredible person and the character we see in TPM is entirely capable of going either way on that, but no, he'd never make a good Jedi.
I also think that if Anakin had been found a much YOUNGER age, like 3 or younger, he'd have been perfectly capable of being a good Jedi. It would remove his attachment to Shmi and the way they had to live their lives, it would allow him to have a better foundation of Jedi philosophies, and it would help him to really see the JEDI as his family rather than constantly searching for a "real" family beyond them. This interpretation comes straight from Lucas himself, who has said that if Anakin had been found at a much younger age, he'd have been fine with being a Jedi, but that being found late was, in many ways, his first stumbling block towards darkness. And that's no one's FAULT, obviously (aside from perhaps the slavers who took Shmi), but it doesn't make it any less true.
Let me know if you want more details on my personal interpretation of this!
