he says i hate everyone except you and that is addictive and that is kind of romantic and beautiful because you're young and you're kind of a sarcastic asshole too and you don't like bad boys, per say, but you don't really like good ones either. and you like that you were the exception, it felt like winning.

at first - you know introverts often need smaller friend groups, and honestly, you're fine staying at home too. you like the small, tidy life you occupy. you're not going to punish him for his personality type.

except: he really does hate everyone but you. which means he doesn't get along with his therapist. which means he has no one to talk to except for you. which means you take care of him constantly, since he otherwise has no one. which means you sometimes have to apologize for him. which means he keeps you home from seeing your friends because he hates them. you're the single exception.

“Mu Qing is too logical for his own good” is such a real problem that he deals with and as tragic as it makes his life I also think it’s really funny when someone is accusing him of something and instead of telling them to shut up or leave him alone the first thing he does is pull out the 95 fucking theses detailing every single thing wrong with their argument WITH historical evidence and additional considerations from scholarly psychology articles, MLA format works cited and completely annotated. I love this framing. First of all, I love that from beginning to end this is not depicted as anything like a triumph. Even though strategically it may well be so, Van Helsing takes no pleasure, not even in a cathartic revenge way, in killing them. He hates every second of it. Not just because he's afraid but because it makes him feel like a butcher, he can't endure the signs of their suffering.

But he frames it as "restoring" them. This wording is consistent with how he comforted the suitors about the necessity of killing vampire!Lucy, and I love how that doesn't suddenly vanish when the vampire is no longer someone they care about. Van Helsing's only exposure to these women has been as a scary story, or them circling him terrifyingly in the night. He never knew them as people and never will. But he still hates having to kill them, and he still finds great comfort in the idea that by doing so he is freeing them from this evil state, and restoring them back to the way they should have been after death. Mina does the same with Dracula tomorrow - even Dracula. And she has some extra reason to be personally invested there (I'll try and find my post from last year about it) but I just like how consistent this detail is.

42k into writing this November!! And I stopped mid-sentence because I suddenly very very badly wanted to write cat!Klein. My dudes, it was like a pregnancy craving, I literally stopped typing, lol.

BUT THIS STORY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT (unless I revamp my entire outline to include cat!Klein, which I am very tempted to do), because omg. Sequence 4 literally has the ability to shapeshift into animals (around the same size), and also furthers the Marionettist ability to possess animals and transfer his abilities (which, with the shapeshifting, means HUMAN VOCAL CORDS) so cat!Klein is literally, and easily, possible in canon.

...Instead, I will amuse myself with the fact that I find Fors really, really funny unintentionally.

Never talked about my headcanon that Casimiro committed at least 1 murder before becoming a vampire.

I have various backstories for him and in one he was a troubled kid from a wealthy family (child of cheating right in the middle of other children and everyone acted like it didn’t happen but he looked different than all of his siblings and was also treated differently). A tutor tought enough corporal punishment could shape him up but miscalculated how angry Casimiro could get. He just turned on his tutor and basically beat the shit out of him in front of a couple of his siblings. Still have to decide if it gets swept under the rug and the family just tries to find a way to sort of hide away Cas and he just decides to skip town or if he goes on trial and manages to make a run for it out of sheer fucking luck or makes a run for it immediately.

Other backstory is not long before he gets turned into a vampire, he lives a life of gambling and petty crimes and either bites way more than he can chew and ends up in an accidental death, or he again flies off the handle and kills someone in a blind rage.
