Evan Peters has been killing it with those dark roles lately, and he's totally down for a romcom switch-up. Ayo Edebiri's feeling the same vibe. But seriously, picture this: Evan as Augustus Everett and Ayo as January Andrews from Beach Read? It's like a dream casting waiting to happen!

Book Review for Hate to Fake It To You
Tumblr media
Channeling the essence of “Christmas in Connecticut,” Amanda ties in her love of Oahu and her appreciation of the cinematic masterpieces of the past for this laugh-out-loud, screwball comedy that begs the question: Just how far are you willing to go to make your dreams come true?
Libby Lane may not have what most covet in life—wealth, love, or a career that doesn’t leave her hating herself at the end of the night—but she does have the beauty of Oahu and wonderful friends. Friends with whom she conspired to create an online persona that was supposed to be a joke. The complete opposite of Libby in every way, “Lillibet” was her way to stick it to the rich resort guests she served, taking inspiration from overheard conversations and curating the most nauseating affirmations and the cheesiest introspective moments, all tied beautifully together with recipes from her friend Keoki and photos from her bestie Jean. It was just supposed to be an outlet, a harmless way to burn off some animosity. It wasn’t supposed to garner attention, especially from an influencer who, after a near-death experience, was determined to meet her “real-life inspiration” up close and personal. Along with Jefferson, the wildlife photographer who saved her life, Hildy declares that she needs to celebrate Me-mas with Lillibet to recover from her harrowing ordeal. Suddenly sucked into one of Jean’s brilliant ideas before she can realize what is happening, Libby finds herself in Lillibet’s home with a “husband”, two goats, and one heck of a lie. Trying to keep up the farce while maintaining her sanity, Libby has to find a way to get the job of her dreams from her surprise guest without ruining it all by falling for a certain photographer who can somehow see the real her.
As her debut adult novel, “Hate to Fake It To You” was a lot of fun to read, even if it had its peaks and valleys which may cause the attention of the reader to ebb and flow. Showing true admiration for the beaches and beauty of Oahu, even if the overall story didn’t captivate its audience, the breathtaking description of the surroundings, the mouth-watering cuisines shared, and the general atmosphere provided demonstrates just how talented Sellet is in bringing a place to life.

This is a photo of books I've read so far in April!
I enjoyed each book thoroughly!
I often think that I'm not an "actual" reader since I'm not constantly reading classic novels but then i think of all the women that came before me that weren't allowed the privilege of learning to read or the privilege of enjoying different genres! I'll continue reading whatever I want <3
This Will Be My Undoing by Morgan Jerkins - 4.5 stars
Beach Read - 5 Stars
Ninth House - 4.5 Stars
I'm thrilled that I'm enjoying everything that I'm reading !!!
Love always

june 2024 book wrap up
Funny Story by Emily Henry ☆☆☆☆☆
Peaches & Honey by R. Raeta ☆☆☆☆☆
Bartleby, the Scrivener by Herman Melville ☆☆☆
One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig (reread)
I had a few exams and the semester was ending, so I haven't read much. I'm planning to read a lot this summer though! I read Emily Henry's Funny Story and Beach Read! I liked Funny Story better! An immediate favorite for sure! It just hit me really hard, very unexpectedly. Funny how Happy Place hit my friend very hard, and I had the same experience with Funny Story. Loved both of the characters and loved to see them fall in love! Beach Read was still very good! I loved it! It was very millennial (I say that with the most love).
I also read Peaches & Honey by R. Reata! Also loved it! It's everything I love about fantasy! I realize I might not enjoy most trending fantasy/romantasy books because they are all very similar. I enjoy stuff that is more original? A bit different? Anyway… for anybody who loves subtle fantasy and historical stuff with a cute romance in the background, they should check it out! Also, it's quite short! It's a little treat! I kind of love how not grand it is. It's not trying to be epic even though the story has potential to be stretched out to a five-book, 500-page series. Can't wait to read the second part!
Speaking of my favorite fantasy, I reread One Dark Window and now I'm one-third into The Twisted Crowns. I loved it so much I had to reread it. AND I NEVER REREAD BOOKS. I can't name one book I've reread. I don't do that, so you can see how obsessed I am. Anyway, I am rereading them in Polish (my native language) and the translation… kind of sucks, kind of ruined the book. Also… SO MANY MISTAKES. I started taking photos of all of them, and I might be sending an email to the publisher because this is sick and twisted. I didn't pay for physical copies just to have them filled with mistakes. Maybe I'm being dramatic, but they really pissed me off because the story is so good and so beautifully written, and they are ruining it!
In June, I also was reading The Serpent and the Wings of the Night, got pissed off 130 pages in when the main girl thought the main guy could probably fuck real good (meanwhile she is terrified of him and won't trust him. Don't piss me off). I'll finish it soon though… I hate DNF-ing books.
Oh, and here as a little treat, given we are halfway into the year, I made a silly little tier list with everything I've read so far!

Book Review for Elizabeth of East Hampton
Tumblr media
First, I must confess (with my head hanging low) that I have yet to read a Jane Austen book. I know, the shame! That being said, Audrey and Emily have inspired me to start with Pride and Prejudice. I have heard the collective sigh around the world anytime the name “Mr. Darcy” is uttered, and I fully admit, if the actual character is anything like the one in this book, I get it – I finally get it! Having enjoyed Emma on 83rd Street, I jumped at the opportunity to devour another Jane Austen retelling by this talented duo. As I suspected, it did not disappoint.
Elizabeth Bennet has dreams, goals, and aspirations. Having been accepted into Columbia, the possibilities of becoming a foreign affairs journalist are within her reach, until her father has a stroke. Suddenly, like being tossed and rolled by one of her beloved waves, her world is flipped upside down. Now she is the sole string holding the family together. Only she knows how to run the bakery, the Bennet livelihood, Lydia and Kitty’s future. Yes, she is one of five Bennet daughters and her father has mostly recovered and is working along side her, but Mary is too busy trying to save the world, and Jane loves being a teacher. Given until October to defer her first semester, Elizabeth decides to focus on the summer uptick that they lovingly call the “cidiots.” It is tourist season, the bread and butter of the community, bringing people from the city looking to escape. That includes the two men who stopped into the bakery that morning, one of whom, with just a single comment, managed to rub Lizzy the wrong way.
Will’s best friend Charlie was determined to get out of the city for the summer in hopes of helping his sister get through her messy divorce. How Will got dragged into it, he will never know, but Charlie was trouble if he wasn’t around, and for the sake of their business, Will was determined to stay close and keep Charlie on track. That is until a certain fiery redhead decides to provide a “helpful” suggestion to Charlie so they could have an authentic local experience. Will only went out to prove he wouldn’t back down from a challenge; he wasn’t expecting Charlie to fall head over heels for a certain Jane Bennet. Knowing this song and dance as Charlie does this every time he meets a woman, Will awaits the inevitable fallout while trying to stay in control and ignore the growing allure of one Elizabeth Bennet. When an unexpected visitor from his past blows into town, lies are exposed, truths are revealed, and Will begins to lose the control that he needs to survive. When an unexpected visitor from his past blows into town, lies are exposed, truths are revealed, and Will and Elizabeth must decide if control is more important than survival.
For those who want to test the waters to see if Jane Austen is their cup of tea, I highly recommend Elizabeth of East Hampton! Personally, I really need to either read Pride and Prejudice or bite the bullet and watch the PBS five-hour special! If Elizabeth of East Hampton was this good, the original must be phenomenal!
Available tomorrow - August 6th but you can preorder now!

𝐖𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐧𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤❕ It’s been a while since I read Beach Read, and that was my fave of all Emily Henry books I’ve read, and I’m happy SO HAPPY to have another favorite 💙
The storytelling of Funny Story is just on point. I really love how Emily Henry builds the story and sets out the characters as well. Another one thing I also love about Beach Read. However, Funny Story’s is much more in the lighter side whilst Beach Read in the heavy side. But that did not mean I love Funny Story or Beach Read less. I LOVE THEM BOTH ❕️❕️❕️❕️❕️❕️
I wasn’t expecting a fake dating or relationship trope at play here, but honestly, it didn’t really feel like it since they were just being themselves and no faking and whatsoever for me. They’re just genuinely attached to each other, but not complaining.
Anyway, Miles and Daphne were such a precious. I love how their romance came through. They were just perfect. They really made me feel so many things.
The ending is perfect. The Confession is perfect. Everything is perfect. LOVE LOVE LOVE 💙💙💙 I can’t wait to read more Emily Henry. This is also a cue to finally start Happy Place 🙈 I have yet to read that one. I also forgot to say I have Petra and Peter.
Thanks for the free book @PRHGlobal#PRHInternationalPartner#sponsored 💙
