An episode idea.

I think it would be funny that one of the tmnt would be into glam and glitter and colorful especially pink/purple clips and songs. And another one just gets metaphorically dbts (looks like cotton candy). He esp likes it when his bros are bothered by it. Maybe Frida likes that aesthetic too.

And that'd be Rise Leo. Mikey joins him too maybe in the beginning. Joins the hype.

And then later Leo turns into Cutness Lord and sends his cute minions to hunt others into pink bothersomeness. Maybe he enjoys it and shares the "love and kindness."

This plot can add up to the idea of his gayness and stuff.

Shrek 2, while a cinematic masterpiece, is also an interesting look at queerness and comp het.

Fiona is married so it's time to reunite with her parents. But instead of marrying a prince, she's married to an ogre. Not just that, but she's also an ogre. (Yes everyone knew she would sometimes be an ogre but that was when she was a child, she didn't know she would be an ogre for the rest of her life, and besides once she met the right prince she would stop being an ogre. She was supposed to stop being an ogre.)

But okay they're both ogres. We can still ask about when they'll have children because even if they're ogres they can still have kids, right? That's what married princes and princesses do so naturally that's what everyone does. Even if ogres might not be great parents (I've heard that ogres eat their young, is that something you people do?) it's still something that should be discussed.

And okay you can stay in Fiona's childhood bedroom filled with all the reminders that hey, everyone thought she was just a princess and princesses marry princes. Her toys left out from the last time she played with them. The prince slays the ogre. The princess offers a token of gratitude for slaying the ogre. Fiona wrote Mrs. Fiona Charming a million times in her diary because what else was she supposed to grow up to be?

And Harold, the Fairy Godmother says, you have to fix this, your kingdom can't be ruled by ogres. You were unfit to rule, to be loved, when you were a frog but I changed you, I made you better, I made you a prince. You know how this works. Think of your daughter's safety.

Shrek goes to the Fairy Godmother and oh honey, ogres don't live happily ever after. It's just not done. It hasn't happened in all of fairy tale history. You have to change the both of you to be happy. You have to present as a prince and a princess. It will be better. You'll fit in better that way. You'll be accepted that way.

I've never drawn Brandy's Cinderella before and thought it was time to cross that off the list. I so appreciate this adaptation for having a Filipino prince, what a dream! And Brandy's so angelic and perfect in this role.

my fiance and i both have gay voice n we were out at a cafe today when a lady walked by w her young daughter who stopped dead in her tracks when she heard us talking, looked up to us w visible confusion/curiosity and after a moment of contemplation went 'mama thats boys!' very proud of her discovery nd i dont think that ive ever been clocked in a funnier way my whole life

Inspired to draw that scene from Team StarKid's Cinderella's Castle. (+a surprise Sir Hop-A-Lot and Crumb under the cut.)

The lighting on that set then (bright green with deep blue on the side) was so good that I had a strong impulse to just try and capture how I was envisioning the scene playing out in an illustrated fairytale-esque forest-scape-y thingy.

I really want to draw a Cinderella moment next - so hard to pick a specific scene!! I'll be thinking about it as I catch up on work rn. Hopefully I can get to it some time tonight. I did do a quick sketch of Rancilda that I'll post soon though!

It's been a wild couple of weeks, but I'm coming out the other side feeling energized~

I just realized why Terry Pratchett making fairy godmothers a sub-category of witches in his Discworld ("Witches Abroad") is actually deeper than I thought - beyond just "they are other all-female magic-users with magic wands".

I think it is a nod to how in old and traditional depictions (especially British ones) Cinderella's godmother is very often drawn as witch-looking or bearing witchy attributes:

I say "especially British" because unlike in France where witches and fairies are very different, in England fairytales are under the patronage of "Mother Goose", traditionally represented as a kind and benevolent witch...

... resulting in this tradition of making the fairy godmother a "Mother Goose" figure, a witch-like fairy. Hence why I think the very British Pratchett would be more interested in making fairytale-godmothers witches rather than fairies.

They wanted me to draw a cute mother son moment with these two and I was like YEEEEEESSS!!!!! Charming is such a mommas boy. Here's fgm brushing his hair. Drawing this, I kept thinking of that one moment from Shrek 2. "OH, THANK YOU MOTHAH💅"
