Everyone's familiar (and sick) of the Buddy Daddies being compared to Spy x Family thing. But I was thinking and realized something funny--

In SxF Yor and Loid try hard to look happy & married for the facade and their fake family. In BD Kazuki and Rei never really try that ? they're already written to act and look like "an old married couple" (director's words)

And yet the side characters (like Anna, Shigeki, the moms) think (know) they're more than friends who have a daughter together.

I think that's also one of the reasons why I like Kurusu family dynamic more. Because it feels more real and is never an act and they never try to make their family seem "properly real" in the way the Forger's try to seem perfect. I mean at the start they're like "ok we gotta play pretend family!" but post ep 3 it was all natural lol

After Rei accepts himself as Miri's father and after their talk with Misaki, they're already committed to Miri, and I remember watching SXF and just thinking WHEN are things gonna move forward?? The slowburn is burning too slow I'M IMPATIENT when is loid gonna accept anya as his daughter--

Sure, Yor and Loid are strangers, compared to Kazuki and Rei who have lived together for 3+ years.. and share a bank account... But it feels like they're still stuck at that "strangers" bit for the whole first season. I'd call them acquaintances even lol. But I get it, SxF is slower and has more of a slowburn, VS Buddy Daddies that had 12 episodes + 4 cd dramas. But even then, BD was easier for me to get attached to. (But also. I'd absolutely KILL to have BD have 2+ seasons like uhhhh yes give me all the "unnecessary" fillers and random stuff, I want to see it all, anything, I'll take it. ANYTHING. PLEASEEEE)

Also I'd call SXF a pretty vanilla anime, it's meant for all ages, it has a lot of genres that appeal to a wide range of audience (like romance, comedy, action, fictional fantasy (mind reading, loid's costumes...)), it has a fun concept, nice characters... It doesn't have blood, death, the idea that the main characters could die, no lives are at stake, it doesn't have the same approach to childcaring like BD has (the whole daycare episode, oof), it doesn't have same sex parents.

Buddy Daddies Bluray Vol 2!

Im finally back home from Japan and can now share with you guys the Buddy Daddies bluray!

Quickly before I start:

If you’re outside of Japan and would like these, I have a post here detailing how to get them!

I bought this copy from Yobodashi, NOT animate, so unfortunately no bonus pic this time!

Let’s begin!

First, all the buddy daddies media currently available (not including the OP album cus that’s not BD branded)

The case! It went pink this time which, if we hadn’t seen “Daughter Daddies” I’d have found it somewhat weird. Idk if this is about to become a rainbow or what though. My guess would be vol 3 is blue.

Inside content! The red booklet features settings from the two episodes included (Vol 1 did this too) this vol however, also came with AAALLL the character designs - every character. Even the “mafia boss” as he’s titled from the first ep.

And finally the DVD case! The classic two page spread illustration for the back is adorable! I’m only sad that Rei was the one left out this time. Similar to vol 1 though, miri was the left out one there so my guess is kazuki will be vol 3.

Vol 3 design was already released actually so I’m fairly accurate!

The two discs are for the episodes and the Drama CD…

I’m tempted to provide a transcript and translate it… HOWEVER I admit that I struggle with listening to Japanese a bit. I rely on Japanese subtitles often and… well… audios don’t have that. So if I did do it, it may have errors.

I’ll think more on it…

Stories about Frederick's outfits in CPC

Frederick, the youngest Plaid Prince with the green color motif. The one that had outfits mostly in green color as well, with the exception is his academy era where he wear blue uniform with white tie. This post gonna entertwined some CPC story points regarding Frederick's outfits. For the starter of the everything, let's talk about his trademark Green Plaid Jacket (I have a theory about how the color of his jacket becomes murkier the more he knows about the engagement)

First we have standard male undergament outfit in the CPC universe, a pair of grey trousers and a pair of black boots in monochromatic style. His color is green, and motif of Plaid as part of Plaid Kingdom. His jacket like his brothers as have a pair of golden shoulder pads and a golden trim going down the collarbone part, with a three straps of golden cover with huge black buttons. The inner white shirts of the Plaid Princes modeled to each ones' character (Lance's carefree, Blaine's fancy)- which for Frederick he buttons up to his neck, making him distinct from his brothers, who leave their collars open. There's only some occasions where his collar opened, and all of those events is related to Gwendolyn in someway (discussed in later part of this post). The inner white shirt of him is a simple one with 3 white buttons, that the top is open

^ Second, we'll go from this comment from the webtoon - exactly from episode 146 when talking about how Frederick and Whitney now are like blank canvas and not related to their respected kingdoms. Here the most interesting part imho but also the longest, I do rereading and - voila?

I do rereading and realizes that all of intimate moments of gwenderick had him not wearing Plaid jacket 'properly'.. The comment from Sage person is very pretty close, most are having his jacket displace in some way - some where he opening it like to taking out his lucky charm the newt eyeball - while some didn't have him to wearing the trademark plaid jacket at all like wearing Jamie's change outfit, gala outfit etc

Here the list of episodes where Frederick not really looking like a Plaid Prince, or wondering if Plaid way truly for him!

2nd middle part and the center of the post

ep33-34 not only time when Fred realizes how kind Gwen is BUT also his beliefs like "innocence, kindness won't matter in this world-cuz I bullied due that". Where Frederick backstory been told, and @alexandersimpleton mentioned before that's interesting for little Frederick wears pastel

Although just in dream, bonus short ep 4 & (s3) short 4 + his pajama although in plaid motif but open around heart

Frederick realizes what he wants (he likes Gwen) , put his jacket like a robe or as the outer (ep70) - double as him meets his inner child. Another example of him opened up. Frederick's inner child outfits also coincidetally not him as a Plaid prince but with the uniform (the start of his innocence tainted) and little prince (which he thinks the most fits to him, his gala outfit that becomes blatant foreshadowing) - and I somehow have a feeling, that we're see Frederick's inner child again somehow it's happening

ep74 the portrait duel, his upper top not properly put as the usual - he duels with Leopold that showing his conviction

ep82 very important ep as we had monologue that Frederick realizes Plaid way isn't fits to him - he still wearing his Plaid jacket compltely but had flashbacks where he shown to not wear properly, or in the real time having the jacket in messy state + funny pose lol

ep89 he offers his waterproof jacket to Gwen, makes him with white shirt - also hints of his self-sacrifice tedency "I'll go instead"

slightly opened up when he had talk with Syrah (ep90)

ep92 the confession Downpour (part 2), Frederick opening up his jacket to takes out the gala ticket for Gwendolyn

ep100 Frederick opening up his upper jacket to take out the newt eyeball that becomes his lucky charm

ep106 Frederick confessing to Gwendolyn that he thinks she's beautiful with the upper part of his jacket opened

Frederick might not know but Gwen imagines herself with him without his trademark plaid jacket like this; ep112

the gala arc since ep 120 with him as the tiniest prince, and with that along with his brothers - become foreshadowing

since season 4 part 2, we have Fred without his jacket completely which symbolizes him as the 'blank canvas'

The last part, gonna be entertwined with another theory 0.0

Frederick = the tiniest prince = little prince

Let's see that webtoon comment image back, one conclusion that I find very interesting that will related to Little Prince :

"In order to create closer and healhtly relationship with Princess Gwendolyn - Frederick needs to distance himself to being a Plaid Prince, and as long as he still keep the idealism (along with toxicities) of the Plaid kingdom he can't reaches Gwen. Gwen needs to see for who he actually is, and Frederick should become who he actually is - the true him"

This, goes hard with the epilogue part of the Little Prince.. Because the story ends with Little Prince looks like he's dying as he get bitten by the snake (and in the CPC, this refers to the Giant Serpent - that keep recurring in Frederick's dreams) so he could returns to his home where his lover the rose there

this means, in order for Frederick could 'return to his lover' = 'reaches Gwen' - he needs to be bitten by the Giant Serpent

The bite (be it literal or metaphorical), will make the little prince looks like he is dying - with several interpretations of little prince even thinks that scene as the prince attempting suicide. The CPC never show explicit suicide attempts BUT implicit scenes happened, with the recent example from Frederick himself that dares 'hissing' Blaine to kill him (ep158). I feel the incoming foreshadowings of some ugly dark scenes in the future that will happen, as Frederick doing something similar to what he dares to Blaine but now to the real Giant Serpent - but it seems won't ends well.

So.. Frederick will and need to 'die' like the little prince then?

Me and @meritre24601 hoping for different take as seen the death not be literally as passed on from the real world but metaphorically. That's already happened canonically during the CPC intruder arc as the one that die isn't Renée but the bad parts of the CPC - with Nell's explanation...

This mean the metaphorically death. Frederick as the Plaid Prince is the one that die as bitten by TGS - but right after that he rebirth as simply "Frederick". Rebirth and transformation are good symbolism of snake/serpent that @saemi-the-dreamer wrote. As he indeed 'die' but got rebirth for new transformation of his life, where he's showing the true him that shown cleverly by LambCat in throughout series from his outfit, he could finally reaches Gwen - the happy ending of their reunion that we are hopes ;-;

I pre-ordered the School Assembly BD and am planning to subtitle it in parts, similarly to how I'm doing the Ep 24 Character Commentary… but for an upload of the full thing, I have to be more circumspect: I'll post when the rip is available and give contact info so interested folks can reach out directly. Just trying to avoid getting Eye of Sauron'd by Bandai-Namco, lol.

Regarding Japanese study: we're in similar boats! I also took classes in college and got back into serious self-study after not practicing for a while.

Here are some self-study resources I find useful:

For daily Japanese practice…

Renshuu for vocabulary and grammar. WaniKani for learning kanji. Ringotan for kana and kanji writing practice.

Renshuu is a site (also available in convenient app form) for building up vocabulary and grammar with quizzes, games, and community activities. It's by-and-large free - premium provides some enhancements (like more listening/pitch tools), but isn't necessary for most of the content. WaniKani is a fantastic resource for learning kanji. They use some truly memorable mnemonics to teach radicals/vocabulary and schedule lessons/reviews in a way that promotes real retention. Give Levels 1-3 a try since they're free, and if you like the teaching method, a lifetime premium sub is reasonably affordable when it goes on sale (like on Black Friday). I use Ringotan, a free phone app, to supplement WaniKani (which is focused on reading/recognition) with writing practice.

Install Yomitan, an in-line dictionary extension, on your browser.

Dokusho Bookclub is a site for finding reading materials targeting specific JLPT levels.

Out of the many resources available on YouTube, I want to highlight Kaname Naito's channel - he teaches in depth vocabulary and grammar used in actual conversational Japanese.

I have a routine of always doing my "dailies" and just try to read/watch/play as much Japanese media as possible... Thankfully there's so much good stuff available online nowadays. :>

Hello Transformers fans! As you can see the title, this is my first post on Tumblr. So today I'll be talking about Transformers...Transformers 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦 to be exact. And this is about a certain ship...a popular one.... So ever since I rewatched TFP and found out that fanfictions exists, like character x reader and blah blah blah, I noticed something and I was like...ok nice, until I saw it all over the internet. Wattpad, DeviantArt, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, Tumblr, YouTube, and more...let's say I got a bit...annoyed. And I'm talking about a certain ship, the Knockout and Breakdown ship. The 'popular' ship that has been going around, and I keep seeing it on my fyp. This '𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱' all ppl would call has made me disgusted. AF. I heard that there's some kind of comic where Knockout and Breakdown are 'married', and people saying that its '𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘯', pissed me off. I've seen WAYYY too many stuff like that. Because first of all, Knockout is the Decepticon medic (as you all should obviously know, for those of you who watched TFP) and breakdown is his assistance. Those two are just friends, literally just friends. And idk why tf you people ship these two. Like, imagine getting shipped with 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 friend/buddy or assistant or whatever. But I have a question, 𝘞𝘏𝘖 even MADE that comic? With Knockout and Breakdown being married and stuff? First of all they're Cybertronians, and they could be asexual. For those of you who watched Transformers Prime, there's that one episode in season 3 ep 7 (Plus One), where Knockout says. "Frankly, I find it 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦. The whole idea of you fleshies...𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨". Now I'm not sure but I think 'interfacing' means....'sex' in the Cybertronian terms (correct me if I'm wrong). And I've seen some...Knockout and Breakdown fanarts that...have NSFW...and boy I was 𝘖𝘉𝘝𝘐𝘖𝘜𝘚𝘓𝘠 𝘿𝙄𝙎𝙂𝙐𝙎𝙏𝙀𝘿. 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗗. 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 𝗪𝗧𝗙. First of all they're 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗦 for Primus's sake. Second of all they are 𝘔𝘈𝘓𝘌, and what makes you think that males would do...𝘛𝘏𝘈𝘛?! They don't have a vagina! And third of all, they are 𝗡𝗢𝗧 together, idgaf what you people say, claiming that its 'cannon'. Wtf? And I believe that all Cybertronians 𝘢𝘳𝘦 asexual. And I've seen something like a character in RID named 'Wildbreak' is KO and BD's 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥?! 𝗪𝗧𝗙?! 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗨𝗣. Now the reason why I freaking 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗘 this 'ship' so much is that I am a huge ass simp for Knockout and Breakdown's in the way. I don't understand, what makes you fans think that this 'ship' is cute? I don't understand why I hate things society loves, and they hate what I love? For example, I hate dogs (sorry dog lovers), and yet they are the most popular pets. I love horses...but not many people love them that much. This is why I hate people. This is why I hate the society and everything. This world is so messed up. Now idc what people say about me hating on this ship,(maybe I do cre cuz I want to STOP this ship) I don't ship any TFP character with anyone, and neither do my friends. My friends recently watched TFP and if they find out about this Knockout and Breakdown 'ship', they're gonna be 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳. KO and BD and 𝗡𝗢𝗧 together in 𝘛𝘏𝘈𝘛 way in the show, and whoever made that IDW comic is an idiot (I would have given a worse insult, but I chose not to). 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬. 𝗔𝗥𝗘. 𝗡𝗢𝗧. 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗡. Only friends, and that's it. And plus, poor Breakdown died thanks to that ugly Airachnid. Oh and, another reason why I hate this ship is because I love Knockout, but I hate Breakdown. And that IS actually messed up (sorry BD lovers). So I guess that's it for today. I hope I'm not the only Knockout x Breakdown ship hater. Haters will hate. Deal with it 😐. Have a good day people.

Random thoughts about how BD and KO's dynamic could've played out if budget cuts didn't send the big guy to the grave, and he became an autobot, be like: I imagine this happening in ep "Plus one"

KO: Alright, how long have you two been dating, because you argue like an old married couple

BD: (honking after him) Knock Out!

KO: Ugh, and speaking of bitter exes.

BD: Pull over KO, this is going to far

KO: Ha! Make me you slow brute (accelerates)

BD: Low blow (uses the terrain as a ramp) good thing I know how to take the high road! (KO, has to break in order to not get squash by BD)

KO: Hey! WATCH IT! Don't think you can get away with ruining my finish now that you're an autobot.

BD: End of the line Knock Out, hand over the humans and forget about the fossil

KO: Breakdown, don't tell me you now have a soft spot for them too. I'll make you a deal, big guy (transforms and holds the humans tight, turning his other sand into a saw) fetch me the fossil and I let the humans walk.

BD: ... Why you doing this KO?

Knock Out: Because, this is what WE decepticons do, now, play nice or else-

BD: Don't give me that scrap! You don't believe in the decepticon cause, you never did! So why do you keep playing lapdog

KO: How DARE you!

BD: Answer me, Knock Out!

KO: I did it for you! I left Velocitron for you! I joined the Deceptions for you! YOU were my cause! And yet you left us! Left me! For a bunch of fleshies and their leader.

BD: ... Knock...

KO: Tell me Breakdown, when did I stop being enough of a reason for you? (yeets the humans to distract BD, and transforms to go after the train)

I have my own little Breakdown Lives and Becomes an Autobot AU wip I want to work on when I finish up some other projects I have going on. Its a bit more sad, somber than this (maybe I'll post some snippets at some point....)

But reading this, I kind of love them as bitter exes that are still not quite over each other!!! Makes me want to write a little something of them splitting off before the events of Prime and being forced to face off. I want the snarky digs and borderline banter. I want them not really putting their all into a fight and when they see the other in danger, momentarily forgetting their faction ties to save the other. I want a scene where they are forced to work together and realize how much they miss each other and how well they just ARE together. I want another bot there (my brain supplied smokescreen but anyone would work) watching them in awe. I want them pleading the other to come back to them and join their side, both of them too scared to leave not knowing if they would be able to get back what they had.BFWRNFCFKNVWKENDSFEKJVNF OK ADDING THIS TO MY RUNNING WIP DOCS THANK YOU. Edit:: Okay so its official it was a dream. So to those that read this first its an edit. I'm not gonna go "Oh I knew the whole time". I admit the idea passed my mind. But for all I knew it could have happened and Chucky was enjoying the moment

Sooo to the White House storyline… okay explains why Chucky's there. A little bit surprised they apparently have "voodoo" doctors or clinic for this. The whole thing felt a little, Venture Bros.

Then we have Tiffany…. you know I'm gonna say it again. I don't want to hear Tiffany apologists or Nica/Tiff shippers. Every part of Tiffany's interactions with her felt cringy. I know if that had been a dude and a gal, it would had felt uncomfortable. Tiffany's not a victim, she's just as bad as Chucky. Just cause she wants her identity doesn't make her a sympathic victim. She's murdered because like Chucky she feels no freakin' remorse. She's a great villain. But I don't consider her a victim.

Andy's a victim, Kyle is, their literal murder victims, the new trio, Nica is DEFINITELY a victim. Gigi (or G. G? subtitles confused me) uhhh I dunno really know. When Glenda murdered a security guard I'm… "ohhh are they a victim? or have they always been as murderous as their mother?".

And back to Nica… Nica reallyyyy needs therapy or counseling BD;. No I get it she has every right to be pissed/and enjoy Tiffany being punished. But still I'm "girl you need help".

Then we have Caroline… uhh she's like G.G in that gray area where I don't know where to put them. Again with Gigi I'm still confused. Yes the whole "soul parted" was okay but that leaves their character's… "alignment" at an uneasy spot. Because when they were two it was easy, Glenda takes joy in killing. Glenn didn't. But since they are one now… that makes me wonder what are they? Does that mean G.G is still killing? Or only if pushed/or cornered…. o3o… we DON'T know. Sorry back to Caroline.. …. sooo on one hand we know like Henry, she's just a child being manipulated. But on the other, she enjoys/and participates (or is an accomplice) in the murders. I mean no wouldn't shock me if she's born a killer. She wouldn't be the first kid in the world to be one. I've seen a lot of ID programs where some kids come from good/loving homes and just went to the other side.

But then the other side of me wonders…. is this offensive. Sorry I know someone's rolling their eyes. But I only ask, that when a minority or people with disabilities aren't fond to find people representing them in the villain or bad role. I know no one's confirmed Caroline's autistic but it felt heavily hinted first season… but maybe I was reading it wrong?

As for your question🤔Uhhhmm... I'm not quite sure what you are referring to. To my knowledge, Keiko has never performed at a café with her guitar. My best guess is that you mean her LIVE Session at Amazon Music Studio Tokyo...? The studio kinda looks like a Starbucks or some other type of hipster coffee shop and the session has a very laid back vibe with Keiko casually lounging on chairs, sofas and the floor. During one part of the performance ("Endroll") she plays the guitar so that's probably the scene you have in mind.
