Azula

starting oldest to youngest, and with the one most of you may remember

Azula is a five year old wire-haired Ibizan Hound. Since I last posted, she’s gotten her Field Champion, Junior Straight Racer, and BCAT titles. She took Best of Breed during one day of the 2021 National Lure Coursing Championship. She’s been spayed and is on a pause from competing because she now finds it super fun to run away after the course is done. She’s starting growing coat like it’s her only purpose in life.

She is the best girl in the world™️ and the puppies are keeping her in tip top shape. She’s been the best manners coach and loves to wrestle with Spork, clean Ponzi’s face, and roach on the couch all day.

Hazard to Society SNE RN CA BCAT TKI NW2

Two back-to-back scentwork trials on Friday and Saturday. We entered all four elements both trials for a total of 8.

Recap from our FIRST scentwork trial: Q'd in exterior (2nd place), buried (3rd), and containers (4th). He thought hard about the correct location in interior and then I mishandled it and he fucked around until we ran out of time.

These trends continue: Either he is VERY fast and we do VERY well or one/both of us fuck(s) up and we NQ.

Friday: 5th on interior, 5th on exterior, FIRST on containers WHAT A LOVELY MAN. Very pleased with his work ethic in all three, especially exterior which was done inside (?) a poultry barn at the fairgrounds and had all kinds of fascinating environmental distractors. Completely fucking borked buried, he checked out all the tubs and then decided to investigate every other object in the room. I think this was a handling problem.

Saturday: 6th and last on buried, third on exterior, FIRST (somehow) on interior I did not feel like we went that fast but what do I know. Containers he checked out various boxes then gave me a nice alert on the next-box-over. This is the second time he's falsed in a trial on containers so something is wrong here. Buried I'm impressed as hell that we Q'd at all, because he spent the first minute leisurely checking out four of the tubs, the soccer dots, the walls, etc, before deciding to give a thought on the last two tubs--and alerted, I called it, "yes".

We have been busy and haven’t been posting but here is a little recap of what we’ve been up to…! 😊

Dolly earned her NACSW Nose Work L1C and L1I titles on Aug 17, 2024.

This past weekend, Link ran in AKC agility (Friday thru Sunday) and earned 5 Qs (out of 7 runs). He earned two new titles, his NJP (Novice Jumpers Preferred) and OFP (Open FAST Preferred).

Such good pups…! Treatos for all…!
