Intro?

Hi! I'm Tav! (known to some of you more commonly as Leaf). Also for clarity, I've been Tav for the past ten years, so I was here first or something. I'm a part time plant on the internet, who is currently doing a PhD in Plant Biology. My educational training in undergrad is in the agricultural sciences so I occasionally reblog stuff about that as well. The agricultural training is why I'm a plant btw. My plantsona is a Golden Barrel Cactus bc I Commit To The Bit. If you ask me how I can type on the internet I will tell you its magic!

I occasionally write fic on ao3 here and mostly reblog whatever I come across that's grabbed my attention. You can find what I'm writing/working on by checking out my writing which should be relatively up to date.

I do a lot of multifandom exchange events, and I rarely if ever remember to link my works to tumblr. Mostly I figure if you're interested in that you'd hop over to ao3! I have a lot of works over there.

Right now my fandom of interest is CQL/MDZS. This is a Nie Brothers stan blog which is probably how most of you (who don't know me from other places already) found me? I think? If that's not the case WELCOME. Here we love and support NHS (blorbo) and NMJ (Da-ge). I like a lot of rarepairs also.

HOWEVER while I don't always Naruto on main, I am a plant who has been writing Naruto fic for like, 7+ years now so occasionally there's Naruto on main. That's how it is here.

I appear to have gotten back on my Jin Yong wuxia bullshit. Not, that it ever really left but I figured I should say so!

art by friends - when I originally started reblogging art to this blog ages ago, this was mostly populated by reblogging the art of friends, which is why my general art tag is now "art by friends" even if I don't know the artist bc it FEELS WEIRD to have a "art by friends" and "art by strangers I don't know on the internet"

writer memes - where I keep my collection of pain inducing memes about writers that I relate to. Other writer related stuff can be found in: writer stuff, writer woes, or fandom stuff.

laugh rule - not necessarily memes, just stuff I laughed at that I can be counted on to have a good time looking at again.

tav watches cdrama - my running list of gifsets/cdrama rambling from dramas that I have watched/am currently watching!

meta and my meta will have related things that are meta that I either want to engage with or that I wrote. Some of it probably doesn't actively belong in meta but it became too serious a shitpost for me to like, not put it there.

I will occasionally reblog hanfu under a variety of tags! Your best bet is probably to search my blog for hanfu, women's hanfu, hanfu accessories, or aesthetics to find photographs of people posing in GREAT clothing. Aesthetics also includes photosets of cool places that I like.

I have a large running list of relationship tags that are simply too numerous to keep a list of so I won't edit this post to include them bc it's too hard sorry.

14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? prolly gameplay which in ts4 i rely on mods for a lot, but ts4 made me more confident in building or at least decorating, it's very fun now and in ts2 i used to spend a lot of time in cas and the body shop

How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? i made a lot of long haired blondes with ballroom dresses in my ts2 era for some reason, i dont even know where i was getting cc from, really long hair and ballroom dresses on the toddlers too if you can imagine oh and i had mermaid tails from downloading oher sims so naturally i made a bunch of sirens all the time

24. How do you edit your pictures? i use gimp the open-source queen, for my spellcaster legacy i was trying to do a scrappy photoset vibe, mystical motherhood im literaly just cropping and since ive reinstalled shaders i just use a preset for stardew moon bc i am nothing if not lazy ig

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? none, id like them to fix the game we already have 😘 but if i had to ig faeries for gamepack, travel for expansion (with 3 decent worlds & hotels plz) and literally any stuff pack so they can say they didnt lie to us about it 🤡

What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? im a sucker for sulani so island living for EP? although the mermaids deserved better, big cottage stan but wish goats and horses were on it so not on the podium & get together still has the best world; paranormal stuff pack by faaaaar, it was the least cash grabby SP ever i thought i was dreaming when they didnt call it a gamepack

first

thing i do is i use curves, levels and selective color (sometimes also vibrance) for the coloring itself, in this post i didnt do much with the colors bc theyre alrdy vibrant enough

second

i will duplicate the image layer and convert it to smart object and add these filters

high pass at 4.0

smart sharpen, amount = 200%, radius = 1.0 px

smart sharpen, amount = 500%, radius = 0.5 px

gaussian blur at 1.0

(itll look weird but trust the process lol)

third

change the blending option to soft light on the same layer and set the opacity at whatever u feel like its best for ur liking, me personally i set it between 30% to 60%

forth

i will add another layer of smart sharpen on the original layer (not the soft light one) with the amount of 200% and 0.5 radius

fifth

i will add a layer of noise but u can add as much as u need!

when i'm eating i plug up with headphones (music or white noise) instead of earplugs; it masks my own chewing really really well. it's not a perfect fix; if I'm feeling really overstimulated by volume/sounds, i can't handle the music/white noise at all. otherwise, 99% of the time it works like a charm.

when i do that, though, i especially can't hear people (and it's often considered rude), so a lot if not all of the problems i described here are still a thing.

I'm thinking about how much better my quality of life would have been if ASL was as common in the US as English and like im furious actually. (1/6)

growing up autistic and with misophonia, i had no way to participate in conversations if i needed to plug my ears, and it made my need for an accommodation into a huge source of tension amongst loved ones. (2/6)

ive had family and sometimes friends take it very personally when i get triggered by their mouth sounds or overstimulated from their volume. And its not like i can just plug up and communicate silently. I don't have that language tool and usually neither do they! (3/6)

and with misophonia, lemme just say that you become very acutely aware of how frequently the people around you are masticating. classrooms are hell. you're only really safe when you're alone. (4/6)

and outside of that, people are just generally loud. And i can handle that sometimes! I have been known to be very loud and to enjoy loud activities. But it's also sometimes very very bad and i don't have much i can do during the bad times except just. Leave. (5/6)

Having the option to just plug up and sign would have made my life as a neurodivergent person much easier. I should learn ASL at some point anyways, but outside of circles that sign it's not going to give me any of the accessibility that i need. (6/6)

today is the four year anniversary of far cry 5 !! i have a lot of . thoughts i guess . so i'll try to assemble them into something ?? legible lmao but . here goes . i'll put it under a read more bc it's uh a bit of a beast actually haha .

i've never played a far cry game before 5 afaik, outside of maybe building an island or something once in like 2, or 3, years ago when i was playing at someone else's house on their copy . i never really had much interest in it (nothing against the series, i just . didn't . too busy playing fallout for the 30th time i suppose) . even with far cry 5, i didn't even really notice it until recently i suppose ? i ended up getting it on sale on steam and then just . spur of the moment randomly playing it back in january and i . fell in love lol . i was originally drawn to it bc of the sort of redneck/country vibes, plus ofc a religious murder cult (those are two of my absolute favorite things in any sort of media lol) . but in all honesty the game far exceeded any expectations i had for it and i just . enjoyed it so tremendously . i love the characters, i love the environment, i love the music (both the in-game cult radio as well as the instrumental stuff), i just . love everything about it really . and i'm very grateful to have had it in my life for these past few months, to have had it to play during some really difficult moments . along with the actual game itself, having a photo mode option for someone like me is just . incredibly amazing . fallout doesn't have that sort of thing, so i feel really spoiled now actually lol . going back to having to console command my ui away and having no free camera and no time change and so on .... it's gonna be rough . i've taken so many photos, and so many photos i love so much, and it's helped me build this account and find other fans and just share the love of the game with all of you, for which i am also incredibly grateful . thank you all for joining me here, and for all of your kind words and support . it means more to me than words can say . i started playing the game about 2 months ago really and it's been truly wonderful ever since . i started march with a photoset on the first, and then another on the second, and another on the third . i didn't plan by any means to make a post a day, but i decided after a few days of daily posts, maybe i could make a personal goal to post once a day . then i realized on top of that, hey it's the anniversary month so why don't i celebrate it and really keep up with that post a day thing and now here we are, 27 days later and 27 posts later . i plan to finish the month out with a post a day as well for a total of 31 by the end of it all . after that, we'll see what happens ! i'd like to continue posting screenshots for far cry 5 of course; after all, i'm always taking more photos lol . at this point i spend more time photographing hope county than i do actually doing anything of any real value there, but i wouldn't have it any other way really . however, i'd also like to include other games on this account (fallout 3, 4, and nv for sure . maybe rdr2 if i ever start it back up) . i also need to play new dawn (which i own and am just too busy playing fc5 to get to lmao), and i'd love to get fc6 + the joseph collapse dlc one day . so i guess expect photos from all of those games in the future as well as more content from fc5 ! along with that, i'd love to post artwork, links to my fics, and also interact more with other people's content and other people in general on here . but for the month of march, i just want to show my love and celebration for the game for its anniversary with a photoset every day . i'm thinking i might do the same next year, but we'll see . it'll be the five year anniversary for the fifth numbered far cry game so i feel like i have to be a little extra and over the top lol . i hope those of you who follow me now will stick around even with the sort of broadening of content, but if you don't, that's fine as well .
