Predictions for the end of the httyd books? (Only about things you haven't been spoiled on ofc, hopefully nothing has been 😭)
Thankfully nothing has been spoiled on me about the ending!
Well the obvious thing that we concluded from literally the first line in this series that dragons no longer exist, also Hiccup is King of the Wilderwest?. Now I'm not sure but I think that means the dragons live far far away in a place nobody can ever reach away from human civilization, the dragons absolutely CANNOT all perish bc I just won't accept that Hiccup would let the wrong people win.
Hiccup obviously set them free from viking's hands, but why? Hiccup believes humans and dragon can live together, so why are they all gone now? I don't understand. Toothless would NEVER leave Hiccup, it happened in the movie but my little stubborn rock head of a dragon Toothless would never, he has no reason to! so I hope he stays alive and Cressida won't pull off some sacrificing bs.
Hiccup will go through shit but somehow he'll manage to somehow heal Furious's broken heart like he always does and the dragons will be on his side (it sounds too nice to actually happen but we'll see)
Also I have a terrible feeling Alvin will be crowned king of the Wilderwest, I don't know how he'll get a hold of Toothless, I don't know how would Hiccup deal with that disaster, but I've seen that man escape the grip of death 5 times already (correct me if I'm wrong cuz I feel I missed one or two) and had managed to built an entire political party with a brutal army with the help of a half blind mother witch that cannot even walk properly, plus getting hold of 9 of the king's Things all while missing an arm, a leg, a nose, an eye and his hair. At this point I'm not too sure we're getting rid of him at the end, it's too good to be true.
And do you think Fishlegs would use his royal blood as an advantage? That would be very cool (regardless that his father is a commoner)
And last but not least, I've never believed Toothless is a Common-or-Garden, sure he looks like one that may be underdeveloped but come on it's been years and he still hadn't grown in size nor grew teeth (I think he had a fang or smt in the first book and it fell during the hunting competition?) not forgetting the dart on his nose, call him a Toothless daydream or whatever, but Toothless is too special to be ordinary, just like his master whom everyone thought was a weaker viking that never fit in but became the last great hero the Wilderwest has ever seen.
And.. that's it! Now the hard part is waiting and watching...
Dear oh dear is it gonna be hard.

And that was Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
Thank you everyone who voted for it. It was a lot of fun to watch. I cried a lot more than I thought I would. And I'm surprised I remembered as much as I did from the conversation with my friends from years ago. Could just be that things like that stick with you.
I'm kind of mad at myself for not watching it sooner, but y'all can thank my friends for making me mad at them and refusing to not watch it in the 2010s. 😅
I love a good magical girl series - Princess Tutu will always be my favorite. And everyone who's seen it should know why. This is right up there, next to Sailor Moon for me, which is pretty high on the list.
Ok, so I plan to start The Dragon Prince in a few days. I'd like to start tomorrow, but I'll be busy for the next few evenings. And afternoons, knowing my family. So see y'all then!
Correct and incorrect predictions under the cut.
Correct
Hitomi will be in danger in later episodes. She was in danger at least once!
Something is going on with Homura. I knew it.
Homura’s wish has something to do with Madoka. Predicted this back in ep3.💪
Sayaka will become a magical girl before Madoka. She did.
There’s going to be some animosity between Kyoko and Sayaka and Madoka. Yep.
Homura is from another timeline, and her powers have something to do with time. Yeee.
Madoka will become a magical girl in the middle of a fight with Walpurgisnacht. This was kind of obvious, I feel like.
Incorrect
Madoka and Sayaka will be magical girls by ep3. Well, we didn’t gain any new magical girls that episode. In fact, we lost a magical girl in that episode.
After Sayaka becomes a witch, something will happen to Hitomi and Kyosuke. Well, it doesn’t seem like anything happened to them. Physically. Mentally… that could be debated. Especially considering what was reported to have happened to Sayaka.
Something will happen to Madoka’s mom later. I'm kind of surprised nothing did happen. But then again, this show kind of subverted a lot of tropes.
Madoka’s wish will end up getting her killed. Not killed in a sense to where she's actually dead, more like a high plane of existence where nobody but Homura and her brother remember her.
Partial
Both Kyoko and Sayaka will become witches. I was half right.
Madoka doesn’t get turned into a witch in this timeline. Putting this down here, bc yes and no. She does, but she doesn't. Like she starts to change into a witch but, bc of her wish, she doesn't stay that way.
Unconfirmed

STUPID WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS PREDICTIONS
before the book comes out and ruins my fun.
1. ofc Alabaster is in it
2. The polecat is actually Alabaster and the mastiff is claymore. They were accidentally turned into animals by some curse and they need Percy to do something with the ocean or water or whatever to set them free?
3. Alternatively, Al is the one who puts out that liquid for Grover so that Annabeth and Percy can fail
4. Alternatively again. The whole task is actually Alabaster living through his villain era and everything, even Hecate having them over in the first place, is an illusion made to fuck with Percy by design.
5. Lou Ellen Cameo
6. Using Witch instead of “bitch “ bc children’s book
7. Joke about how Percy wants to just be in college and be an adult already bc he feels like he’s been 17 forever
8. Percabeth bickering like an old married couple and an inevitable comparison of watching after wild animals to them having kids one day
9. Lou Ellen helps them out but gets hurt and Percy has to suffer Al’s wrath for harming yet another one of his siblings.
10. Lou introduces Alabaster to Percy and Annabeth. Al: and I’ll help themwhy? Lou: bc I’m in charge of Hecate cabin now and you do what I say Al: I’m sorry, you said cabin right, meaning you are in charge of the Hecate kids at camp correct Lou: oh here we go Al: I’m not a part of camp so it doesn’t apply to me!lou: ugh your impossible
11. Huntresses enlisted to help, they can track animals right? They’re huntresses!
12. Percy saying “what’s gotten his goat?” About Grover
13. Also a revamp of my old predictions:
—-Alabaster encouraging Grover to take up eco-terrorism to help along his duty as Pan’s replacement.
——Percy and Annabeth Save Al’s life and he has to help them because he absolutely does not want to OWE them anything.
Ok that’s it bye.

During the second or first century BCE, a woman pretended to be able to control the moon. This was Aglaonice, who is regarded by some as the first known female astronomer.
She’s mentioned in the writings of Plutarch and the scholia to Apollonius of Rhodes and lived in Thessaly, Greece. Being “skilled in astronomy”, Aglaonice used her knowledge to predict eclipses and make people believe she caused the moon to disappear.
According to Plutarch:
“Thoroughly acquainted with the periods of the full moon and when it is subject to eclipse, and, knowing beforehand the time when the moon was due to be overtaken by the earth’s shadow, imposed upon the women, and made all believe she was drawing the moon down.”
The scholia adds that Aglaonice lost a close relation as a punishment for having angered the moon goddess.
Interestingly, Thessaly is associated with women skilled in astronomy and occult practices. Several female astrologers from the third to first centuries BCE were for instance known as “The Witches of Thessaly”. These women were said to study the movements of the moon and trick people into believing that they caused lunar eclipses.
In Plato's Gorgias, Socrates mentions the "Thessalian enchantresses who, as they say, bring down the moon from heaven at the risk of their own destruction."
Today, a crater on Venus bears Aglaonice’s name.
Feel free to check out my Ko-Fi if you like what I do! Your support would be greatly appreciated.

watching the amc mayfair witches show right now is CRAZY. i have never read a single word of the mayfair witches books. however, literal days ago i did finish Blood Canticle, the middle third of which is Rowan telling the story of her life. APPARENTLY that was the entire content of the mayfair books??? Because the show is following exactly that story she tells in BC 😭
amc iwtv is book one, with maybe some two and three getting mixed in. this shit is book ten with alien demon babies who only eat milk, and incest all over the place. for some reason i had expected this to be the more mainstream, palatable cousin to iwtv, but this show is insane. I can't imagine anyone watching it without the context of the books without screaming "what the hell is going on" the whole time.
it's so disorienting to 1) see a whole tv show of a few chapters of an insane book i JUST read and 2) to see a show that feels like...idk archive 81, or lovecraft country, in its visual style, predictability, mildly-shocking-but-not-really plots.....but then getting early 2000s anne plots served up to me in that style. idk i'm reeling.

IWTV S2 Predictions: Eternity In A Box (Spoilers for Blood Communion)
In Ep3 I was freaking out over the parallels b/t vampires running their fingers thru Louis' hair as he thinks he (& Claudia) are gonna die.
Tumblr media
In the movie's version of The Trial, Santiago condemns Louis to solitary confinement:
"Eternity in a box. Walled in a dungeon. Your only company will be your screams."
And I'm convinced the Theatre's gonna bury Louis alive.
TBF, I could be WAY off; but I was thinking abt how the scene went in the movie: the Theatre locked Louis in an iron coffin and buried him underground in the walls of Theatre, and how Mr. I Could Not Prevent It waited until way later to come in and literally dig Louis back up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hatred as a Box: Buried Alive
Both are HORRIBLE ways for vampires to "die." Compared to going out by fire it's a light sentence, sure, until you consider the LORE.
Iron + vampires = no bueno. (The same applies to witches & fae.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Initially, AR's vampires weren't subject to traditional wards like silver, iron, crosses, garlic, etc. The Theatre coffin was wooden, just sealed with iron locks. But magic DOES have a strong effect on vamps, as highlighted in Merrick.
In TVA Armand describes his kidnapping by the Children of Satan:
Tumblr media
In Blood Communion, AR specifically retconned iron in 2 notable instances. Cyril bound Baudwin in iron pickets ripped from a wrought-iron fence:
Tumblr media
And most infamously: Rhosh's kidnap of Gabrielle, Marius, & Louis:
Tumblr media
(I pray to GOD that AMC gets this far, it's one of my fave AR books.)
I can't tell if the coffin AMC!Lou's in is iron or wood, but if he's stuffed in the Wet Room's morgue-like "burial vaults," that's definitely metal, if not steel/iron. Which is such a clever modern update to coffins. 👌
Then there's the pebbles all over Louis. Nothing much here, except that they're made of stone, and I was reminded of the hardening/crystalizing process of AR's vampires, as they age & become more & more stone-like as their luracastria hardens over time.
Tumblr media
The stone hardening of a vampire =/= Death, but rather SLEEP; as exemplified with Akasha & Enkil--the 2 oldest vamps, who look/feel like statues. (The QotD movie took this too literally with Maharet.)
Tumblr media
But yeah, I like the visual poetry of Lou in a coffin full of stone pebbles, essentially put to sleep by Santiago for eternity in a box; which is not unlike too what Rhosh would end up doing to him in BC.
Love as a Box: A Prized Treasure
The imagery of coffins & the theme of Louis spending eternity in a box further made me think abt Louis' (toxic) romantic relationships.
Tumblr media
I've spoken ad nauseum abt Loustat, so I wanna focus more on Loumand here. Cuz Armand's love of Lou seems to contradict his tendency to wait for catastrophe to strike b4 he "rescues" Lou from horrible situations that could've been avoided had Armand made his move a lot sooner. (Unkind & ungracious, I know, but I'm on a tangent here.)
We see this with the Theatre, as Armand lets the coven slowly descend upon Louis & Claudia, knowing they're in danger but wanting Claudia out of the picture before he extracts Louis.
We're seeing it in Dubai, as Louis' broken "in pieces for the privilege of putting them back together again," like jigsaw pieces kept in a box. (Not NEFARIOUSLY, but Louis does speak about "pieces of himself" that he's lost/forgotten. And he asks Armand's permission to see Claudia's diaries? Which tells me that Coven Master Armand's ALWAYS held significant sway over Louis' life in their household.
And I suspect that we'll see it again if AMC pulls a Merrick on us, and swaps out Merrick & David for Armand & Lestat (a la AR's Tulane drafts), when Louis puts his own coffin in the sun and burns alive.
Cuz this is all just history repeating itself. We've seen this dynamic in Lou's life w/ Les. As his 2 great romantic loves, Les & Armand are similar & different. Neither of them's healthy for Lou, but they genuinely love him in their own effed up way. But Claudia's still right: BOTH of them keep Lou in a box.
Louis of Troy: Venus de Milo
Let's think for a sec abt the Venus de Milo we saw at the end of Ep1:
Tumblr media
At the time I was thinking: why did AMC pick that statue? Sure, it's famous & iconic and is at the Louvre in Paris. But I stuck a pin it it.
Loumand visits an art museum in Ep4, and we can probably assume it'll have something to do with Armand's career as an art thief/broker.
Tumblr media
During WWII all kinds of buildings got looted & bombed up, and museums had to literally bury their priceless art in boxes/crates in the dirt in order to keep them safe from the Nazis and people who wanted to steal/destroy the priceless statues.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is ironic, cuz a lot of discovered art was excavated/dug up; people exhuming ancient statues out of the dark earth, into the light of a new era--like a vampire. (Venus de Milo was dug up too.)
Supposedly, VdM depicts the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite, holding the Apple of Discord in her hand (which was found broken off next to the statue). The Apple of Discord was the prize given to Aphrodite during the Judgement of Paris, a beauty pageant that caused Paris to run off with (the already married) Helen of Troy/Sparta & started the Trojan War. Herodotus, the "Father of History," said the West (Greeks/Europeans) vs the East (Asians/Africans) were always fighting cuz people kept stealing e/o's brides. 😂 Women were chattel just like animals in antiquity, so bride raids & cattle raids were typical catalysts for numerous mythic & historic conflicts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Typical xenophobic fodder for racist miscegenation laws, ofc, but vampire literature eats this trope up, thanks to Dracula. AR's books do this over & over--culminating in Rhosh's infamous rape/capture of Gabrielle, Louis & Marius in BC. And AMC's emphasis on interracial/multicultural relationships inevitably draws comparisons, too.
Tumblr media
Naturally, I'm thinking about how Troy burned over Helen; and the Theatre burned over Claudia (& Madeleine); and the Chateau burned over Gabrielle/Louis/Marius.
But I'm also thinking about how the first time Akasha & Enkil moved in 1000+ years, it was cuz Akasha allowed Lestat to drink from her, and Enkil was so mad that he got up and nearly curbstomped Lestat to mush b4 Marius wrestled Enkil off of him. 🤣
Tumblr media
The victim/woman inevitably gets blamed, from Helen to Akasha, and ofc Louis; but it still tracks that entire wars get launched purely over love/sex--another form of treasure/money/property/status.
And I can't help but wonder how much AMC will or won't lean into the possibility that Lou's being held captive in the Dubai penthouse by Armand--NOT necessarily by force, but rather by...compliance; COMPLICIT--and that their relationship is a huge catastrophe that Lestat will inevitably have to "rescue" Louis from like some damsel in distress, like he had to do with Nicki. Or if Lou will somehow rescue himself and NOT pull a Merrick after all. 👀
And that (finally) brings me to my final point.
Safety as a Box: Louis' "coffin"
When Daniel asked Lou where his coffin was, Lou told Dan the entire Dubai penthouse was his coffin. Thanks to Armand's UV-light-controlled iPad, the vamps can walk safely in gold-warm sunlight.
Tumblr media
But the penthouse still radiates CHILL. They're in the middle of a desert, but Daniel's constantly in a cardigan, Louis' often dressed in hoodies, Armand even wears an actual coat--it looks cold. 🙁 The sunlight's filtered/diluted; it can't warm anybody--human or vamp.
Tumblr media
As opposed to the natural lighting at 1132, coming not from the windows (which are always carefully closed & curtained), but from the fireplaces--seemingly ALWAYS roaring by Loustat's coffins in the Coffin Room, and sofas in the parlor (there's another one across from their bed, too). 1132 exudes warmth; the florals & earthtones adding to the tropical NOLA vibe--there's peacocks on their wallpapers ffs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loustat's townhouse emulates a wild & free Savage Garden, but the vampires sleep in extremely close quarters in their coffins--even doubling up after Lou breaks Les.' Is it confining? Or intimate?
Tumblr media
I have to wonder if, in Louis' efforts to take Claudia's words to heart, and not be confined in a "small box" anymore, Lou insisted on not sharing a coffin with his 2nd husband. Instead, they sleep in a HUGE king-sized bed, with plenty of space (at the price of less intimacy). But Louis hilariously STILL sleeps like a corpse vampire in a coffin, arms/hands folded across his chest! XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as spacious as Louis' new bed is, he's sleeping in a literal JAIL CELL; an utterly inorganic crypt-looking edifice of strange shapes, where the open plan does nothing to distract from the mental patient aura of the sunken bed & padded ceiling & metal (iron? 👀) cage bars. Is it for Louis' reluctant safety? Or for Louis' elusive sanity?
Tumblr media
Pick Your Poison
So this is my long-winded way of saying: Lou's BEEN doomed to spend eternity in a box. It's just that that box is shaped & defined by the love his 2 control-freak toxic AF husbands have for him:
Lestat is clingy and heavy-handed, and 1132 is more cramped/crowded, but more warm & intimate. It's a contained wilderness/Savage Garden in miniature; the seraglio crawling with mistresses (Antoinette) & soldiers picked for an orgy; fit for a pimp--where Louis himself is paranoiacally caged like a prized slave/housewife.
Armand is more distant/mature (internally desperate) and enabling, and the Dubai penthouse is more spacious/open-planned, cold and foreboding; a locked off tower in the sky. It's a glorified jail cell not even trying to disguise its bars; full of around-the clock staff & handlers & nursemaids/doctors (Fareed)--where Louis is jealously guarded like an in-house mental patient kept in an asylum.

oh i meant to put together like one post with all my theories and observations before i start the answer arcs but i obviously didn't do that and now i'm being impatient so i'm gonna wordvomit a little bit while i still have the chance to record my probably hilariously wrong theories ok. so first of all in case i haven't made clear my stance on whether magic is real i'm kind of approaching the gameboard sections from the perspective that it isn't real, i'm convinced there is a mystery to solve for how everything happens in each episode, bc as fantastical as it is no magic presented so far has been actively incoherent with reality. example i think with ange's show of magic at the end of ch4 being obv very symbolically significant and a part of how she enters the metanarrative/purgatorio, it's also implied she dies in the "real world" either by jumping from the building or getting shot i actually forgot my bad. that does not erase at all the meaning to her emotional journey, which is why while i do think magic is "not real" it also, like, is definitely real, and the implicit question within the question is actually "what is real" and that's what the game is working with. just by way of being presented to the audience, the magic becomes real. thinking about it this way i'm predicting that this tension can't be resolved by opening thw catbox, bc maybe it isn't even possible to open the catbox, we are just forced as humans to look at it from the outside or the inside wherever we are and turn it around and try to figure out what's on the other side. magic is just a mechanic of the story literalized within itself and it can be used to misdirect or to guide us to the truth just as any other element can in a story, esp a mystery
as this pertains to beatrice ermm i don't reslly know i just want to learn more about her. we saw this duality in her at the end of ch4 that we've seen in almost every other character, which i've been thinking about in terms of splitting identities but that terminology may be a little misleading, it's more the different facets of ourselves being personified to heighten and position HOW the ideas about those facets can/will be conveyed. i don't claim to understand the deal but it's very clear to me at least that beatrice's dual selves is a form of self protection, which ties a lot into my thoughts on witchhood-as-scapegoating where the witch is like an evil christ figure lol who shoulders the blame of our sins. or maybe i just played higurashi.
connected to that is the recurring ideas of wish fulfillment which appear more and more obviously in hindsight which leads me to think natsuhi is the/a culprit in the first ep. she is absent from the 12am role call before the first twilight and honestly had reasonable opportunity to do it, she allegedly saw evidence of the gold, she allegedly was told by totally alive kinzo that shes a true and awesome ushiromiya with a remark about "if only you were born a man" which reads as just her deeply deeply repressed desires to me (god it's so good.), and she goes off with the servants a lot and we don't know what she's doing. i think it makes sense esp as she's the last adult to die. what happened to the kids you say I SDINT KNOW LEAVE ME ALONE. in a way i think she is potentially experiencing something similar to eva where we get this externalization of her innermost trauma driven feelings thru the witch character but they are still the same people. right. like with rosa, she's still the same mama in the end
i don'tknow i also think nanjo is sus because you can get around the red regarding kanon's death if you presume that nanjo is actually the one who killed him intentionally or out of negligence. AMONGST OTHER THINGS. i do not trust him. iirc he was the one who pulled the key out of the pocket in the linked locked rooms and he was one of the only people who could have locked the window if you assume george jumped out the window to go to the mansion. if he's an accomplice that does open up some possibilities for breaking eva beatrice's web of red truth i don't know tgem yet but. there are possibilitie s there. the way he is actually so central to the formulation of a lot of the occult aspects of the mysteries has me thinking he could absolutely be helping to create the illusion that they are impossible without magic.
worth noting i have no idea what to expect regarding battler's sin idk if it's something i can figure out now or not. during the whole battler isn't real thing i stewed up a theory that battler was like kinzo's furniture/homunculus baby (??) which is why people keep going "oh yeah you totally remind me of the master when he was your age" and why beato is suddenly so interested in battler's qualification for being her opponent. which WOULD have like actually really fucked up implications with her getting drunk and talking about her and kinzo's probably non consensual bdsm sex and how battler should totally uh own her and make her his sex toy basically, or alternatively make her his wife which in this context is functionally like the same thing ??? (the oppressive structure of marriage and family and what have you. you know the drill) and i think it would be interesting if battler WAS not real on this level of magic metaphor where beato is trying to use him to conquer her trauma.
i'm not married to this theory but it's kind of interesting to think about esp knowing that the narrative can choose to represent the magic or the human interpretation for any given moment/plot beat, so if we accept things like kanon lazer sword as a metaphor for him like kicking some guy's ass regular style or even battling his internal demons (idk it seems context dependent), we can also think about how the human things we see could be represented with magic. so when beato is like battler you're not even real that works because the magic interpretation is being imposed on top of the human presentation, so when i'm sure we'll get more big moments of "it turns out so and so is actually a big floating crystal in the sky" or whatever that's not evidence of magic it's saying "hey we're making this a metaphor now even though we already showed you the thing the metaphor is representing like this is some sort of um like a metaphor narrative, a meta-narrative if you wi;;"

WIP Wednesday (err, Friday bc I procrastinate)
Tumblr media
Tagged by the lovely @man--eater, which has me kicking my feet in excitement.
I don't have much because my brain has gone on wild tangents, but have a short excerpt for a chapter that is miles away from my current position in the story!
“ALASTOR!”
The red-clad demon looked up from his desk, a trickle of panic racing down his spine. He knew she would find out eventually, just not this soon. He had hoped he would have more time to prepare, but Luck was not in the cards for him today. The winged cat seated across the room gave him a worried look, knowing that what was coming might just end them all.
Alastor Dubreuil did not fear anything… except for his wife.
Slowly, Alastor stood up from his chair, the legs creating a grating sound as it was pushed back. He walked towards the window of his studio that overlooked the Pride Ring, his eyes widening from the sight that loomed below him. There she was, her fury flowing around her like a tornado.
His darling witch sure knew how to make an entrance.
Husk came up to stand beside the owner of his soul, his ears flat against his head as he spotted the wild witch stomping towards the radio tower. He noticed how Alastor’s casual smile became strained, as if he was anticipating the same disaster Husk predicted would destroy them.
“Isn’t she beautiful?” Alastor said, his red eyes glued to the purple storm aimed right at them.
Husk looked at him in disbelief, scoffing at the incredulous compliment. “Murderous is more like it.”
Alastor’s eyes flashed with delight, his grin curving up towards his cheekbones. “Precisely! She’s exquisite.”
“GET YOUR BONY ASS DOWN HERE, YOU SON OF A BITCH!”
He winced, feeling her wrath polluting the air, leaking into every crevice it could find. What a glorious creature his lovely little witch was. Her power had obviously grown in his absence, a fact that pleased him more than it should. There was much to be done now that he was back, and that vast amount of energy of hers would be the key to achieving his ultimate goal of total control over Hell.
“LAST WARNING, AL, OR I’M DRAGGING YOU OUT MYSELF.”

YAY I'M OFF WORK until Monday
IT'S TIME FOR MORE SHE-RA REWATCH
s2 ep6 Light Spinner
just read the synopsis on the wikipedia episode list and Oof this one is going to be hard
Edit: oof I jumped around a lot, including mentions of the bible, my fave art, other cartoons and (predictably, for an episode about Shadow Weaver) my own history as a child abuse survivor and my dad dying. So, uh, you've been warned?
okay
let's do this
Tumblr media
do they mention why she covers her face at this point? I forget
okay so true story and totally off topic but I get distracted every time Micah's name is mentioned because my favorite verse of the Bible is from the book of Micah. It's the fave verse of a lot of people lol I'm not unique. But yeah, Micah 6:8:
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord ask of you, But to do justice, and to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?
Tumblr media
I've half-joked for years now that if enough of your childhood report cards say any variation on "They have so much potential if they'd only apply themselves" you should get diagnosed with ADHD without further questions.
Hordak: why is Shadow Weaver still fucking HERE Catra: bc I like getting a chance to taunt her >:3 I MEAN, uh, she's a good source of information? Hordak: she needs to get to Beast Island, I don't like having her around she knows too damn much Catra: but she can't actually do anything without her fancy-ass magic rock
*power goes out*
Entrapta: ha ha WHOOPSIE Catra: wtf are you DOING
Tumblr media
Hordak: stop bothering my girlfriend Catra: wtf??? Entrapta: Entrapta: uhhhhh did I interrupt something Hordak: no it's fine bb don't worry about it <3 Hordak: ANYWAY Catra get that witch to tell you shit and then GET RID OF HER or I'LL GET RID OF YOU Catra: >:(
Tumblr media
In all seriousness I remember watching this episode and thinking: lol omg are they ship-baiting this???
And then the usual culprits did the "yOu cAnT sHiP tHaT" and I started reblogging content of it out of sheer fucking spite. Also at least one writer for the show is like "y'all Entrapta is in her late 20's/early 30's" and--wait hold on I know there's screenshots from twitter of the same person:
Tumblr media
But yeah stuff in later seasons made me cackle with laughter because it's not even subtle. At all.
Anyway you gotta be careful about spite-shipping. That's how I ended up having a lot of feelings about Jaspis from SU, ha ha WHOOPS
Tumblr media
jfc this and a previous line (talking about "gifted students") and it's like...why are y'all having her quote all the shit my teachers said trying to encourage me and only traumatizing me.
Tumblr media
mmmm don't like that
Tumblr media
I know I keep harping on how textbook of an abuser she is, but I love that the clues were there already. This is the kind of shit abusers do! Look at how controlling and possessive she is, but in a way that outsiders will just see as "she's a very invested/involved teacher."
gahhhhhh
plot plot plot the Horde is already invading, the Princesses are useless against them, our leaders aren't doing SHIT, anyway the sorcerers are meeting tomorrow and I hope they let me boss them around into agreeing with me
Tumblr media
this shot of the moons over Etheria reminds me of one of my fave artists--these pieces are layered resin, and I keep meaning to buy some prints of theirs. (One day I want to own an original. ;_; I love the way they use colors and the layers and just the daydreamy vibes of so much of their work.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(More of their stuff here)
plot plot Scorpia and Catra talk about how Catra doesn't want to send Shadow Weaver to Beast Island and Scorpia is surprised Beast Island is real and not a scary story they tell kids
Catra: but but but Shadow Weaver can tell us shit!
Tumblr media
Scorpia: anyway I thought you hated her??? Catra: you wouldn't understand >:(
I understand. I hate that I understand it. UGH.
plot plot Light Spinner tries to convince the sorcerers that the Horde is a threat, and points out they've taken the Black Garnet, and says let's cast a big spell together and GET SOME POWERRRR
Tumblr media
Sorcerer dude: that spell is FUCKED, absolutely not [for real the way he talks about it sounds kiiiinda like The One Ring] Light Spinner: fuck yOU
Tumblr media
OH so I didn't quote it but Catra says the same line earlier, about Hordak: "After everything I've done he still doesn't trust me"
Tumblr media
Catra is trying to save Shadow Weaver's life and Shadow Weaver is like...meh. But hey can you bring me an old trinket that's of sentimental value? I will never ask you to do anything else.
[I am Suspicious.]
back in time, Light Spinner manipulates Micah into doing the Big Scary Spell with her, they accidentally unleash a hORRIFYING MONSTER
Tumblr media
(I'm suddenly reminded of the last two episodes of Gravity Falls. It never ceases to amuse me that Alex Hirsch was told he couldn't do all kinds of totally innocent things, but he could have, well, the shit in the last two episodes. I remember telling my then-boyfriend that the intro of those last episodes had shots that looks like actual nightmares I've had)
Oh also the flailing disembodied hands remind me of some of the early episodes about the Cluster in Steven Universe. Remember Garnet finding some of the early fusion experiments made with broken bits of gems?
Tumblr media
Aaugh.
(Also remember when Peridot was still kinda spooky and scary?)
Tumblr media
OKAY SORRy wow I'm distracted tonight.
Tumblr media
yeah that didn't work so great
And that's what messed up Shadow Weaver's face, and she throws a fit at everyone and calls them "weak" and uhhh murders at least one of them?
Tumblr media
face-touching! the only way she's able to show any affection at all...but only ever to manipulate people in her charge. anyway she disappears after that.
Tumblr media
Catra is not going to get a satisfying answer. One of the reasons it was a relief when my dad died was that I could let go of ever having any hope of him explaining to any kind of satisfaction why he did what he did. (He did apologize, once; in the most manipulative and self-serving way possible, when I was 35--at the time I thought maybe it meant something, but eventually I realized he'd actually made things worse, because he'd taken away any belief I might've clung to that he didn't know any better at the time.)
In any case, Shadow Weaver's answer is basically "You're just like me, and my life was hard, so why should yours be easy?" Like that old line about how people who suffer through hard things have one of two reactions: Either "why shouldn't you also suffer, you're not better than me," and "nobody should have to suffer like I did."
Tumblr media
;_;
Tumblr media
I understand Catra so much. You still want that love. You can't not. You know you won't get it, not the way you need it, and you settle for a facsimile.
Tumblr media
I'm gonna throw myself into the sun
And then we go back in time to see the arrival of baby!Adora, like as an actual infant. They don't say where she got her.
Hordak: "I arrived too late. I found something but it's useless. Put it with the other infants in the infirmary."
"It." bleh.
Shadow Weaver: hmmm that's one powerful baby. Hordak: ugh, weirdo. You can have it. But ffs it's being noisy take it somewhere else.
Shadow Weaver's just like: oh sweet I get to start from scratch with this one.
Anyway under her tray of food that Catra brought her was her sorcerer's guild...thing. That she asked for earlier in the episode. Which means Catra did bring it to her.
Tumblr media
And Shadow Weaver's gone.
This explains part of why Catra gets worse for the next like two seasons. She tried to extend a kindness to Shadow Weaver--keeping her from being sent to Beast Island, giving her the trinket thing, offering to work together since Shadow Weaver thinks they have so much in common, right? But it bites her in the ass so bad.
So why should she be kind to anyone? When has anyone been kind to her? When has Catra being kind to anyone ever improved her life or made it easier?
But yeah the trinket had some kinda magic dust in it and Shadow Weaver escaped, and Catra had a (very understandable) meltdown about it.
Back in Bright Moon, the Best Friends Squad is using the moon alignment to get a clearer signal on Bow's track pad: "Serenia. Portal. Mara." AAAAND end of episode.
Yeah I was right. That was a rough one.

Thanks for leaving me some fanfiction asks too!!
How long ago did you start reading or writing fanfiction? Damn, I had to been when I was around about twelve or maybe thirteen. I don't know if anyone remembers the-ndotcom message boards, various Degrassi message boards (mainly Degrassi boards aka DB, anyone around, I honestly doubt it?), and of course, fanfictiondotnet my online life in the mid-2000s.💗
When I was third grade, I remember writing things that resembled fanfiction. Typically based off of some shows I saw (such as Sabrina the teenage Witch, TGIF line up was awesome) or books I read like The Boxcar Children or Junie B, for these writing journal prompts for school the teacher would assign us. When I say it's all cringe and embarrassing as hell, Let's just say I'm glad no evidence of that writing existed. That wasn't even the tip of the iceberg there, I also wanted to *be* a friggin' author. I'd even include these cheesy bios for each 'book' I would make for myself bc I'd always see them in books I read in childhood.
Fast forward to 2003, my first fanfiction (when I knew I was writing fanfiction) was a doozy for Degrassi written about Sean, Craig, and Emma in some weird season 2 timeline with a love triangle, an ill-fated camping trip, Sean's newly sober mother made an appearance in the form of a camp organizer desperate to reconnect with her son and bring him home much to his chagrin, and other things I forgot about and wouldn't wanna think much on. I was basically winging it. I'm afraid it's gone. I had notebooks and notebooks filled with stories around this time.
10. Worst writing habits? Abandoning and giving up without a doubt. A horrid habit that becomes tempting when I get writer's block, and then I just start the hell over and make something totally new and forget about it drop it like a bad habit, and the cycle comes back around like a shitty boomerang. I then will read the old one months or even years later and be filled with regret or have five million new ideas for said abandoned story. Maybe then I rework it in the future someday or in a whole dif story which has been done before. I am already my own worst critic, but I hate super flaming, negative criticism that shit doesn't help anyone except be tempted to give up.
Some fic I abandoned needed to be, such as the Zoemund vehicle in a weird alternate season thirteen titled The Starlet and Dealer. Not that I need to explain myself, but I didn't feel right writing something portraying a couple with literally no chance on any planet, not even interested in men on the whole didn't make much sense. Also who would read that considering all that? It's available on fanfictiondotnet who cares? I moved on it's never gonna have an ending.
Backtrack has more of a chance of getting an ending, and yes, it's an *almost* ten-year-old fic, just saying.😄😄😄
Another habit is simply beating myself up, comparing myself and just simply hating on myself which I gotta stop doing. Honorable mention, stuff like not being in the mood to write, or getting too much on my plate and then not writing.
15. One-shots or multi-chapters? Multichapters Angst? Yes. Fluff? Yes. Smut? I'm not that brave ha, not for a lack of trying. I usually do the ol' Disney-style cut away. I'm so lame. Hurt/comfort? Yes. Fantasy? Nah. Romance? My bread and butter🥰. Which one is your favorite? Hmm I'd say romance with multiple chapters all the way! Which one is your least favorite? My least favorite is when the protag gets pregnant and the whole story is just fucked after that because it just doesn't interest me. It's just so unoriginal and a little predictable. Unpopular or popular opinion who cares, not every love story or romance ends with a baby or a pregnancy 🤷‍♀️. I'm down for a wedding that would be something fun to tackle in writing. No, really though, out of the listed, I'd say I don't care for fantasy.
16. What’s your favorite headcanon or trope? For semma related fic's stories, I like incorporating things such as emphasis on photographs, flashbacks to past events, and some other memories from their past relationships with one another or things we didn't get to see. For example, Emma had this little box with moments like movie ticket stubs, Sean's old denim jacket (before he started wearing hoodies), Emma's retired dolphin pants, obviously photographs, a few burned mix CDs, letters, and or notes passed from class, and more miscellaneous items.
As for Emma and Jay another Degrassi pairing I write often, for example, I like including a treehouse motif. It's a long story, but in my invented backstory for Jay, Connie (Fancy) is his mother, She left his father for Mr. Edwards (Darcy and Clare's father) she met at the strip club. They had an affair resulting in pregnancy so there's a drama with that. Obviously, Jay and Darcy clash (naturally) and act like they're not related at school is an arrangement beneficial to both for Darcy's popularity and Jay had a reputation to uphold and also there's Jay's young maybe five year old half-sister from Randall and Connie named Christina affectionately nicknamed Chrissy. Jay resents his mother for leaving their father and making this new family with these stuck-up people he seems to detest and what it did to his father who had fallen in a reclusive depression since their divorce.
Chrissy idolizes Jay and serves as an honorary shipper for Emma and Jay, and sometimes provides comic relief. At Jay's dad's house is where the treehouse comes in, and Jay's super attached to it and his father too who he is still close with. The treehouse is a special spot for Jay. He eventually brings Emma into his world and treehouse, and the setting symbolizes a lot in their relationship. All this lore was created long before Jay or Darcy had a canon backstory or last names purely based on speculation. There's also related Jay/Alex lore about their past relationship, invented things from their dysfunctional childhoods. I also have a host of headcanons for Emma, Manny, and JT's childhood memories growing up together.
For tropes, I dig the first love/true love, mutual pining, enemies to lovers, slow burns, and secret relationships/forbidden love is always fun to write. I recently attempted a fake dating story Faking It/(a03)
This all is a lot of fun to write. Thanks Emma! I hope you also like writing responses to these type of questions! I’m always available and down for more questions about fanfiction! 💌

Z is now the Guardian of the Grim Real, the Nightmare King is imprisoned, Sneak is in the Waking World, and this seasn ended with a lot of questions.
Does everyone who went to the Fall Festival seriously think a bunch of kids put together a creepy act this year? Did the blind witch get off her island? What route did the Night Buereau take, bc honestly that made no sense! And so many more.
I'm still thinking that the blind witch will be the antagonist in the next season.
And thoughts I had about Z are now completely altered, so that's fun.
I'm thinking we're going to learn a bit more not just about Lunia, but past Dream Keepers in s2. They seem rather important to the Dreamworld.
I really don't know what to expect beyond that, so I will see everyone tomorrow for the first episode of s2. Until then!
Correct
The Grimspawn were taking Cooper to the Nightmare King in the first episode. Horrifyingly, yes they were. To have him imagination drained.
Logan and Mateo are going to go thru big character developments. Logan's going to become less of a bully, and Mateo's going to break out from his little solitary artist shell. And they're going to become good friends. And they have.
The kids are going to become Dramcrafters. They did! Even with Logan’s unique form of Dreamcrafting, he’s still a Dreamcrafter.
The Nightmare King is having the kidnapped dreamers create dream creatures to make Grimspawn. ):
Mateo, Izzie, and Cooper will get their hourglasses soon. Logan is going to take much longer. Mateo, Izzie, and Cooper did get their hourglasses, but Logan… yeah. Still waiting.
The 1 girl with the hair twists is the Dream Bandit. I connected the dots! I connected the dots!
The Nightmare King knew Lunia in some way. Ha ha ha. Ha ha. Yeah.
The Night Hunter and Zoey are connected in some way. There’s too many physical similarities. And the song is a clue. EPISODE 4! I SAW IT WAY BACK IN EPISODE 4! Honestly, that kind of surprised me. I thought I started seeing the connection later.
They’re going to use the locating device to find a person in the Dreamworld at some point in the future. They did!
Logan is going to bring Lunia’s hourglass to the Nightmare King. TToTT He didn’t know, but still.
The mission to rescue Logan from the Nihgtmare King will go disastrously. But they will manage to save Logan. I feel like this was pretty predictable.
Strick will capture Z-Blob and there will be a rescue mission for him. Yay! I mean, totally sucks that he got kidnapped, but I predicted it!
Zoey is the Night Hunter’s daughter. Officially pointing it out in ep11.
Nova will prove her conspiracies correct. Girlie knew what she was talking about.
Something happened to Lunia and her dream creature before she left. Hahahahahaha. Ouch.
Incorrect
Grimspawn were dreamers who have been trapped in slumber. Honestly? I think this would be neat. Very dark, but neat.
The reveal of the Dream Bandit’s identity will be revealed after the group make it thru the Forge. It actually happened beforehand.
We won’t get the Sandman for a few episodes. 9 episodes – instead of 2 or 3 – later…
The Nightmare King will try to recruit Logan and replace the Night Hunter. That could have been a fun plot point to follow on, but it makes sense that the NK was planning to use Logan to spy on the others.
The Night Hunter and the Nightmare army are going to hurt Albert. Thankfully, they just locked him in a cage. It could have been so much worse.
The Nightmare King was sealed away in the Murky Realm. Probably on the same island. And the Night Hunter had to fight off her wolf to free the Nightmare King. Really thought I had something there.
Something happened between Lunia and her dream creature that she didn’t state in the windows. She put that information in the painting Zoey and Mateo hid behind. Sadly, no. I really felt that the painting would be more important.
The Insomniacs, as a whole group, aren't going to learn the truth. It's all going to be chalked up as a very bad dream. I'm pretty sur they all know that Nove was correct now.
Nova will be the only 1 to actually learn everything. And she and Izzie are going to have the good heart to heart that they need. Putting this here bc it seems like Nova wasn't told everything in ep19. She was told somethings, but not everything. And she and Izzie didn't have their much needed heart to heart.
The Nightmare King and his army will be locked in Brooklyn. Sadly, they weren't. It really would have been funny. To me.
Partial
The Nightmare King has the Grimpawn on a mission to find someone with a powerful imagination to help him take over the Dreamworld and the Waking World. While technically true, it was originally just the Dreamworld at first. Wanting to take over the Waking World happened when the Night Hunter told him about Z-Blob.
Cooper is going to struggle with Dreamcrafting. While he still struggles, it wasn’t the way I initially tried to guess that he would. He just needed to learn to think outside of the box.
Zoey will be the key to finding the Sandman. She was, but not in the way I was expecting it to happen.
The loose Night Terror is going to terrorize people in the maze. It did show up and cause terror in the maze, but it was to a single person.
In ep19, we’re going to see how Lunia defeated the Nightmare King and how the Night Hunter became the Night Hunter. We got 1 of those. Was really hoping for both.
The Dream Chasers will defeat the Nightmare King thru the power of friendship and dreams. They defeated him thru the power of friendship and imagination. I was so close!
Ep20 will have the big battle in where Mateo is going to try to reunite the halves of Z-Blob, and failing until a pivotal moment that'll change the tides of the fight. Well, there was a big fight and Mateo reunited the 2 halves of Z. It just didn't go the way I expected.
Unconfirmed
Mr. Oz def knows about Mateo an Izzie's first adventure in the dreamworld. A part of me is thinking that he was spying on them, and making sure they didn't actually get into serious trouble. And another part of me is thinking that he specifically chose Mateo to pick up the hourglass. Putting this here bc it’s never really been addressed. It’s most likely incorrect, but nothing in the show explains how Mr. Oz knew to go look for the Night Terror that came back with Mateo and Izzie, how he figured out where they all were, or how the hourglass moved from the middle of the road to the garbage.
When someone who actually gets trapped in the dreamworld by the Grimspawn, they will die if they're kept there too long. This might actually be correct, but I can’t recall off the top of my head if it was ever really addressed.
Logan will use Lunia’s hourglass again. It could still happen!
Then there's that 1 book Izzie tossed to the side in the middle of their last minute scramble to hide all of the Dreamworld items. I'm thinking that that's the book that Mr. Oz was looking for. This is hasn’t been addressed (and probably won’t be), so I’m putting it here.
The Night Hunter was coerced into his position. Putting this here, bc most of his backstory hasn’t been confirmed.
Sneak doesn’t like being in the Nightmare King’s army, and he’s going to help Logan and the others in the future. I’m hoping this’ll happen in s2.
Mateo and Izzie’s mom just up and left 1 day without saying goodbye to her kids. I… yeah. This still needs to be addressed more in the series. For now, it goes in unconfirmed.
The blind witch is going to be the next antagonist after the Nightmare King's defeat. Surprisingly, not confirmed in the last episode.
The blind witch lost her sight in a fight. Not surprised this is unconfirmed. I'm thinking this'll be something addressed in s2.
The song Zoey’s mom sung can be used to activate Lunia’s hourglass. We can assume that it can, but it hasn't been shown in the show yet.
Whatever happened between Lunia and her dream creature effected the way the Night Bureau sees and treats dream creatures. We actually don't know the answer to this, so it's going down here.
When Zoey and the Night Hunter have their long awaited fight, he’s going to get his hands on the pocketwatch. Hoping and begging for s2.
Lunia is stuck in the real world, unable to dream, after creating the realm the Nightmare King was imprisoned in. We don't know where she is to even say whether or not this is true.

Fear Street: Prom Queen (2025)
Shadyside High's 1988 prom queen election becomes deadly for underdog Lori when a sinister figure begins killing the candidates.
Tumblr media
Warning: Review may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.
JayBell: I'm a little confused about why this is labeled as a Fear Street movie. Besides a few statements about living in Shadyside, this is just a regular slasher with elements of Mean Girls/Carrie? I don't know, it just seems like there was a slasher script and in an effort to get more people to watch it, they decided to write in that it took place in Shadyside. What makes the Fear Street movies more interesting is the lore they developed, and watching people get possessed for lack of a better term, turning them into killers. Why didn't they just follow the same formula for this movie if it is truly a Fear Street movie? Since it takes place before the last movie, it wouldn't even mess up any of the established lore.
Even taking it as a straightforward slasher, it isn't perfect. How did Lori make it the prom finals if everyone apparently hates her? Why did they have a strange dance off? Also, it feels like Lori's mom is meant to be in the movie more, but she just kind of disappears entirely despite being an important element of the plot. And this guy that Lori is interested in is the worst.
At least it had some interesting slasher kills, unlike Friday the 13th Part 2. But yeah, it's fine I guess as a slasher, but not as a Fear Street movie.

Anzie: First. I McFluffiiiin called it. Now I could have never predicted how insane. But I called it. I knew it was at least the dad- but the two killer reveal- even tho they were still masked - I gasped. But that there’s threeee killers! Honestly I knew the girl was unhinged. It was in her eyes. Anyway. I really don’t get how this is Fear Street- when it’s just in Shadyside so it’s all their blah blah bad luck and how people become bad. I wish they would’ve at least made it apparent if the sheriff was a Goode or something as like an Easter egg- bc that’s it. And I get they wrapped up the witch stuff and all that, but there was a whole plot line where one of the killers from the Sarah Fier story that was a high schooler that killed her friends at a party and I guess I just assumed it was that. I really do wish they delved into the other possessions in those story lines but maybe it’s in the book so whhhatever. I will say the deaths in fear street - no matter which one - they are awfully gruesome- which in some ways does feel lazy- but I’m also not into to gory horror, I prefer to be psychologically tortured with plot thank youuu. Speaking of the guy grabbing the knob with his hands cut off will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Do you have any predictions for the new chapter coming Tuesday? Maybe even for how you think the Pride arc overall may go?
Personally hope this arc will be where we get more Imuri backstory since her being in a coma is admittedly a pretty well set backstory time, I think we've been shown that flashback of Imuri being caught like what 4 times or so without any further explanation, along with so much unanswered about her in terms of certain behaviors and why she thinks the way she does.
hi, anon! sadly I'm not too much of a predictions girlie...the best I can do is hope that verge and priest meet up again. I actually have reason to believe that WON'T happen - their convo at the bowling alley feels weighty and significant enough that it might genuinely be all we get before they part ways again narratively, permanently - but then again, they're both in hell, they have SO much in common (more that we learned since ch62, even), they're in parallel positions wrt their love interests, they still COULD have a lot to talk a lot about re: the church, faith, rebellion...maybe even their trauma bc priest has really only ever been able to open up to ppl he perceives as other survivors and ppl unaffiliated w the church. maybe not tho bc I doubt verge would want to talk abt that and priest seems more angry and focused in this arc than thoughtful and open to anything like that. I really hope they do but I can see it going either way
oh I am also DESPERATE for the verge running away flashback. WHAT HAPPENED THERE....what did nicholas say to verge? how did dante respond? what's been verge's perception of dante's feelings for him? how did verge become a witch and how did dante get that scar? their backstory has so much and we know so little!!!
Imuri backstory would be REALLY cool, and I'm excited for it, but I think she'd have to be awake for that....unless Leviathan tells Priest everything. maybe once she wakes up...a more specific explanation of what she's been though might fill in some gaps more explicitly but I actually feel like her character is fairly well explained by her situation and stated desires
what else...I certainly don't think Priest is Lucifer and I think that was always kind of a silly idea, but I do wonder if he's his son. iirc, lucifer is one of the demon lords that still has a white halo, and I wonder if that means priest would get all the holy powers he has. tho according to one of the in-between chapters, demonic and angelic power is basically the same anyway so that white halo might not even matter. it could be a cliche, but it could be done in a really exciting way too so 👀
My other semi-prediction isn't specifically for the lucifer arc, but for the satan arc. I think Lilith will come into the story in a big way. She's been hinted to be significant, Satan's plans are fairly vague, there's been talk of 'marutal problems', and the story deals a lot w misogyny thematically so I certainly hope Lilith shows up as a major player. #feminism
