It's not being bothered because Jason is used to being used; its not like he isn't doing the same to Kon.

It's witnessing one of the strongest men in the world crumple at the hurt of a broken heart. Missed chances, lost opportunities, and laughable dreams.

'You dodged a bullet,' Jason could say, but he knows from his own unrequited feelings that the consolation means nothing. The heart wants what it wants. Sometimes Jason believes his [heart] simply wants to hurt.

Maybe that's why he's here, ready and willing to be a replacement for the replacement. Maybe it's why he stays despite knowing that nothing is going to happen.

Kon goes through the motions, but Jason isn't a fool. He can feel how Kon's kisses feel like grimaces pressed to Jason's skin, how slow love bites pull away to a reluctant grazing of teeth. Jason wants to tell him to stop because this pity rebound fuck clearly isn't doing anything for either of them, but Kon's gentleness is a novelty that steals Jason's breath and ties his tongue. Despite everything, this is the closest to being loved Jason has been in too long and he selfishly clings to it - taking even scraps.

And Kon persists because his affections have nowhere else to go. He's heartbroken, cheated. He holds fast to Jason with hands that shake, tries to love him like the boy he'll never get to have.

It's a feeling Jason understands well. Where Jason has had two lifetimes to get over his own unrequited feelings though, for Kon it's a first. If only because of that kindred hurt, Jason blinks through the burn in his eyes and stops Kon from going further. Stops Kon from hurting himself in the ways Jason has learned to cope.

He holds Kon's head to Jason's stomach, fingers threaded through his dark hair. The way Kon falls into him, forehead pressed to Jason's naval and arm coming around Jason's waist to pull him close makes his heart ache. It's a kindness Jason has dreamed of and he breathes slow to hide the way it makes his breath hitch.

Maybe it's not in the same way, but Jason is used to being a consolation prize; he's familiar with the sting of being a fallback, a second thought, not enough. The difference here is that unlike Kon, Jason never had an 'almost.' Not like this. Jason has experienced similar enough rejection though and it hurts even still, so he holds Kon tighter and waits with him until Kon can find the nerve and mettle to move on.

Okay, personal thoughts on dragons rising under the cut. Spoilers ahead!

I didn't care too much about Wildfyre going into part 2. she was cool but not really a character I was fully invested in. That is, until her and Kai went on their little quest/mission to get the dragon energy core. They were so Sweet! I loved how Kai had to be the responsible one and how Wildfyre had to learn how to thikn before she acted. They're a really good dynamic and I their relationship growing during this season felt very natrual and good!

Zane! also not one of my favorite characters. But him speaking to a broom with Pixal's photo taped to it got to me okay? I do wonder now where she is.

Mr. Frohicky (idk how to spell things, i've been up all night. give me a break lol) I did Not expect him to return after the crossroads episode back in part 1. He's actually grown on me a lot. It's still kinda weird bc the tone of this show is just a Bit different than previous Ninjago. But it's not bad and I wouldn't hate seeing more of him in the future

Lloyd. God he got so much character develepment this season but especially in part 2! From him trying to do everything on his own to upkeep the Monastary and then finally excepting help, to getting much better at teaching the new ninja. I really loved all the scenes with him an Arin and how their relationship has gone from Arin being a fanboy, to genuine respect and friendship. 10/10

Speaking of Lloyd. What on Earth was all that stuff he saw Again when he acted as the conduit again? I really hope we get more info on those vision in the next season. That's the one big mystery that they havn't really touched on

last lloyd thing, mayeb it's just the angst lover in me, but I really hope there's some kind of conequence to him acting as the conduit. Maybe it starts really draining him or maybe it just makes accessing his power a little harder. I hope they explain it or at least like, mention it.

I'm actually kinda glad they didn't go the whole route of having Nya distrust the Djinn guy who'se name i can't remember lol. It was a nice expectation subversion. Bc my first thought was that he was gonna be evil/ have heard that *she* was the one who tecnically destroyed Djinnjago. I really like that they helped him the way they did and the lesson it taught Sora

Speaking of Sora. I love her. I still fully belive that her power is creation but if it is just 'tech power' i really like how they're handling it. LIke we all Knew it was never Ryu's power she was using but the moment *she* figured that out still felt genuine and deserved because we saw her go through the process of realizing whta was holding her back. 10/10. no notes

Freaking COLE! So him and Lloyd are tied as my favorite charaters bc yee. But holy shit even tho it was 5 am when i got to his episode and i was exhausted. I sat up on the couch and just lost my shit. One, he's still so good at finding people in trouble/captured and deciding he's their protecter. I love him so much. and two. was it just me or was that whole episode so freaking queer coded it isnt funny? Like, even more so than his true potential episode back in S1.

Shipping aside, I really like how on par with his character his episodes were. Even tho they were short and I really crave more about him, they did a good job of leaving just enough questions to keep us interested while also showing us the important parts. Plys the new ability rock monster thing is cool

in that same vein. what the fuck does 'the earth is screaming' mean? hello that shits terrifying? My theory atm is that its' the realms fighting the merge bc it's like unnatural or something. but idk. i would have liked to hear more about that

Zane's car!!!! I own that set and holy fuck it did not dissapoint! At first i was kinda bummed it didn't do Actual spinjitzu, at least I don't think so. But him spinning wildy and saying 'this is adequate' or whatever, is so freaking funny! also it's super fast and looks epic. no notes lol

and Jay! we see him! I'm not really a big jay fan but I am curious what theyr'e gonna do with him next season

and finally, i Really liked all the references to past seasons/events! Even if it wasn't in your face, it was still really nice to be able to see all the pices of the past sprinkled throughout. It was also funny to see Sora being surprised Lloyd is the FSM's grandson. 10/10

ive mentioned string of fate au a few times here. ive finally put it together into a post. okay so the reason why ive taken so long to transfer this is bc ITS FROM JULY OF LAST YEAR. i wasnt sure if i should lightly edit it or rewrite it. because it started out as me complaining about rebooted and then me fucking craving fanfiction and hurt (i do this 24/7) and then it morphed into this au that also doubled as character/relationship analysis and me fixing rebooted with my bare fucking hands in the context of this au

anyways. jaya string of fate au with emphasis on the heartbreak of s3. half of this was written half a year ago. man i was so mad about s3 back then lol

been thinking about s3 again. whats even more frustrating about the bad het drama. is that they didnt even give jay and nya a proper break up. granted their get together wasnt on screen either BUT IF YOURE GONNA OH SO RUDELY TEAR THEM APART LIJE THAT. well. technically. it would be more emotional hurt fic rather than whump. but im a guy who has his definitions twisted. this is whump to me. also im a guy who thinks unromantic things as romantic but also loves love thats void of romance above anything else. i can do both. anyways.

i want jay to feel absolutely crushing heartbreak. i want jay to be hurt. i want him to feel it in his chest. unfairness— rending, jealousy— twisting, want— squeezing. all he yearns for is to be with nya. because he loves her. but apparently... nya doesnt feel the same way. and it hurts

i want to consume heartbreak. i think itll be crunchy on the outside but soft and squishy on the inside. absolute chewable pleasure. lightly salty and bittersweet. i also wanna squeeze jays heart like a stress ball and maybe cause arrhythmia. scratch it a little (a lot). jay is my emotional and physical fucking chew toy

and so to make heartbreak a bit more whumpy tho... i thought up of red string of fate au...

in this version of this concept, the red string of fate is something that needs to be tied by the pair together. and the feelings behind it is what gives the string color. but sometimes if a love is fated to be, the red of the string is instantly, intensely vibrant, almost glowing 

but you dont know who your soulmate is until you actually get together and tie the knot. it is not preexisting, the string does not connect people together for them to find each other before they even know the other exists. it only exists when two people make the decision to bind each other to themselves. most people dont find their soulmate but because its so often the case ppl are content with someone who isnt bc you dont need to find love in your soulmate alone, love is abundant in other places. but that isnt to say the red string of fate isnt romanticized in society tho. anyways. nya likes jay and their string is a pleasant warm red thats a little pink. its typical color for those who arent soulmates but its ok

jay is a little smitten in a slightly overbearing way tho. i think they are a couple who are a little bit mismatched in terms of showing affection. and also nya is very independent type so jays chivalrous tendencies grates on her a little but she lets it slide bc to her, jays positives outweigh his negs. hes cute and funny and they both can geek out and bond over tech stuff. thats a part of the fun. 

but then the match maker thing happens and nya doesnt immediately start considering cole as a romantic interest. but she does start... considering things tho. why cole could be her match. and if he really is her soulmate. why isnt jay her perfect match? its less nya becoming interested in someone else and more nya examining herself to think about what she actually wants for herself and what she wants in a person and if jay really isnt the right guy for her in the end. she doesnt know if cole would actually give her what she wants more than jay does. but she does grow more aware of the mismatch between her and jay

but before anything could be done about her doubts and dismiss it all and just carry on with their relationship, jay finds out in the trailer and is devastated. and intensely jealous of cole.. because hes been a bit insecure about his and nyas relationship for a while now also. he jumps the gun too quick before nya could reassure him so then that Fight happens and things get messy and ugly really fast. jay makes himself look really bad in front of nya which unfortunately reinforces her doubts in jay and she thinks. maybe they shouldnt be together after all. 

and so one night nya talks to jay alone. she explains herself. how shes been feeling about them. how she wants to focus on herself. and that hes too much for her and hes stifling her and she thinks it would be better if they cut things off and go back to being friends. and then she cuts the string that binds them together before jay could even object. it stings for nya but for jay it feels like his heart was sliced in two. literally. he feels a sharp pain that makes him clutch his chest. for nya, she had more time to process the severance. because she was sorta falling out of love for a while. her side of the string has become desaturated and dull. which is why she doesnt hurt as much

she doesnt realize how much jay truly loves her and how much it would hurt him when the string was cut. so when jay falls to his knees, tears falling, she just turns and walks away because she thinks its just from the heartbreak. she knew she was breaking jays heart

she doesnt realize how much hes literally hurting, how she left his heart bleeding. she knew but she didnt know. its most painful experience jay has ever felt in his life. a searing ache. theres a sudden painful void instead where there once was nyas love. its loss that was much too abrupt

heartbreak cant kill a person but it can leave them wounded. and with an abrupt disconnection like that, its why jay hung onto those feelings for nya for months after even tho he never acted on them. his half of the string refused to wither away and he didnt want to discard it either. how could he when he still loved nya. but he couldnt do anything about it though. nya made up her mind. and jay knew her well enough that she would probably hate him more if he chased after her. and so... he kept his feelings close to his chest and his sad, loose thread wrapped around his finger tight all the way until skybound...

okay. now present day jem speaking. that was the end of original story i had written on twitter... its meant to be a missing scene (inbetween seasons) fic + au. canon compliant except for the fact its set in this au. so skybound more or less carries out the same way. except minor details being changed...

such as nadakhan approaching jay. he tells him he cannot fix or create strings of fate. but he can give him other means of winning nyas heart... 

although this isnt a part of the “fic” i do imagine at the end of their divorce era.... nya who had casted away her old string, remakes her string to tie to the end of jays (and her) old one where she cut in. the thing is making strings of fate is something anyone can do regardless of being fated to be or not. what the string of fate is in this au is more of an oath... an intention to be together to the end of time. the two people are choosing to bind their fate to each other. nya, who had felt stifled in a relationship and decided she didnt need to be in one back all the months ago, realized something in skybound.... the string of fate isnt a contract or a shackle. not like how she thought... its a sentiment of how much you care about somebody to want to be connected forever. till death do us part. and jay very sincerely wanted that. he wanted to be with nya forever. and nya realizes... despite all his flaws, she really cares about him. she does want to be with him forever. she wants to be together with everyone, all her friends, her family forever. i think she doesnt know the nature of her feelings for jay. they are a bit conflicted and shes not sure how to sort out her desires from her feelings. but i think she decides to give jay a second chance of sorts. when they tie the loose ends the color on nyas side is an ambiguous grey barely tinging pink 

she tells jay she doesnt want to just get back together. she wants them to start over. and jay isnt sure what that means. and by the color of the string hes not sure if it means theyre dating again either. its a very ambiguous ground theyre standing on. but... jay takes the fact that nya retied their string to mean something. that nya isnt rejecting him anymore. that she cares. that he means something to her. it gives jay hope. his feelings for her havent changed... but he decides that to just be. and take things slow. hes happy even if hes confused by what nya wants. hes connected to her again.... and that means so much to jay

i think that their relationship from the end of skybound and onward is a bit more slowburn. well its a weird sorta slowburn. because theyre together but not really. its about them figuring their relationship out. and also nya falling back in love for reals. i love navigation of ambiguous relationships. i think for a while for nya the term “girlfriend”/“boyfriend” is more loaded than the term “soulmate”. thats how fucking weird their relationship got. whats not ambiguous is that nya does love him. she wouldnt have retied their string if she didnt. whats ambiguous is the nature of that love.... its not quite platonic but shes hesitant to call it romantic. whatever. they have time to figure it out

okay. that turned out so much more aro than i was intending. but i do like leaving it like that tho. feelings are difficult to navigate arent they sometimes? how they figure it out is up to whoever. love is love. they are more than “just” friends. but romance itself is a difficult and different beast than love. but jay and nya.... they meet halfway somehow. even if it takes a bit of work

also. heres some bonus supplemental worldbuilding that doesnt pertain to story stuff but fleshes out how i picture the world in this au to work. most of this was written to answer dans questions about this au lol... not necessary to read unless if youre interested in my take of string of fate concept lol. or unless youre interested in the bit about bruiseshipping in this au at the very end

the string is often attached to the ring finger. so its a very romantic gesture when couples tie it together to each others fingers. like putting wedding rings on each other but its more of a cute fluffy thing rather than binding. not ceremony but its a Thing. its the same level of formality as asking someone out. and string is like. supernatural. its not completely physical but its definitely exists and can be touched. but not as if a literal string is tied to them if you know what i mean? like if the pair are far apart then the strings middle isnt visible but the ends that are tied floats towards the direction of their partner. the string is like. metaphysical. its a perceivable, somewhat tangible representation of love

but if desired the string can be cut if the parties want to separate. but it usually hurts. like a lot of breakups do.

okay so. the thing is with like. almost all soulmate aus. is that they know about their soulmate. or that the evidence of who it is is instantly visible. and like..... that sorta kills part of the fun? of falling in love?

so what if they dont know until they decide to try each other out first. thats the like. the thought behind the set up for this

like. theres sometimes the occasional dumbass whos going off constantly try to find their soulmate but ultimately a soulmate isnt someone you can simply Search for and find. so those kind of people end up being pricks who never will find a soulmate in their life because they dont want to work things out with ppl who arent their soulmate. the pursuit of a soulmate will usually end in disappointment

but sometimes. for the people who do find their soulmate. its because they gravitated to each other in the first place. 

like they fell in love with each other naturally. they liked the person for who they are. and so they decided to get together because they enjoy the other person so much. so when they realize they are meant to be they laugh like oh of course! they were meant to be. theyre like the hallmark movie couple of couples and the few of the very lucky ones

not being soulmates doesnt mean you can only fall in love with your soulmate tho. you can fall in love with anyone. regardless of whether theyre your soulmate or not. and even if theyre not. why does that fucking matter? the important thing isnt that they arent meant to be, but that they love each other anyways. isnt that more romantic? fuck fate the one i love is you

usually nonsoulmate relationship take more work. because the instant perfect chemisty of fated couples isnt there. buuuut. isnt that how love is like in reality? love is work sometimes. love is sometimes hard. but love is also worth it. so making the decision to work for it is more easy the more youre in love. not always the case. but in the healthy couples its usually the case

previously that the feeling behind the thread gives it its color. so. the string can end up being a different color if the feelings felt arent romantic love. most people dont know this though bc ppl who usually tie it are couples. and also it takes both of them to tie the string. every single relationship has a theoretical string color. its just most people who actually want the string are couples usually couples. and so for example, most aros dont ever even think of trying to tie it with someone bc they dont want that kinda bind. but if a curious aro wants to try it out bc they are questioning about their best friend if the two of them agree just to see. their string could actually be a different color than red. because the feelings behind it are platonic

its also entirely possible for a string to be entirely black between enemies hfhjskl. but however those kind of pair would usually NEVER tie the string together bc you know hbghsk. enemies. but if they were. it would be that color. but maybe some insane enemies who are obsessed with each other would do it tho. you know fated enemies and such

..... i have thoughts about bruiseshipping in this au also. theyre best friends, they can bind each other if they wanted to. they have the mutual sentiment required to. but due to the culture surrounding the red string of fate specifically, they never think to. even if they did consider it once they didnt ever bring it up bc awkward!!!!!! the string of fate is the symbol of love. couples treat it a bit frivolously but it is a loaded thing. the string of fate is conversely isnt strictly about love but its just often the case when you want to connect the souls of two people for eternity its usually because of love. theoretically i think their string color would actually oscillate between black and their standard representative color (maybe ill go with light blue lol....) depending on if theyre fighting or not. because it would be funny if it did. also. i think they might try it only after jay and nya retie their string of fate. because then they see its an option to tie strings of fate nonromantically. so theyre like... hey.... do you wanna like... just see? and thats that. two besties bound. jay has two strings of fate now

hysterically it would be funny if all the ninjas did it to each other. it would be a mess. but a colorful one. you know those ship charts where ppl draw lines for their otps and notps. its like that but its not shipping its just relationships and also every single person is connected to every single other person. not saying it has to happen in this au its just that the image of it is so fucking funny to me i had to say it. it would be useful tho if they wanted to find each other wherever they are. practical

Yes, I do have more thoughts! Thank you for asking First and foremost, I just recommend watching the movie (fools rush in) for anyone who hasn’t seen it. Not even just for this, mainly bc it’s one of my favs and I think others should watch if they haven’t 💀

Anyway onto the thoughts. I’m gonna try to do like a mini timeline of events I could see happening and hopefully that answers some things

Myrah and Aemond meet at a restaurant owned by Myrah’s aunt. In this cute little town right outside the city (where Aemond lives)

They instantly hit it off ofc, go back to Aemond’s hotel…. Baelor is conceived 😊. Myrah books it out of there in the morning before Aemond even wakes up

They go about their business for weeks till Myrah starts feeling tired a lot, and even feeling a bit sick. So she goes to the doctor. The checkup is going pretty normal till her doctor is suddenly like ‘congrats mama 🤭’ and myrah is just like ??? 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Myrah goes back and forth between even telling anyone and just getting an abortion is secret. But she breaks down one day to her mom bc she scared. Her parents are pretty traditional so ngl it does hurt their soul a bit that their young daughter is pregnant and won’t even tell them who the father is. Her aunt (who owns the restaurant) is like 👀 but also is like ‘girl if you want this baby dead I’ll drive you’

In the end, myrah ends up deciding to keep the baby. Then makes the decision to tell Aemond. Not bc she wants anything but more for him to know. She doesn’t want some guy showing up in 10 years like hmmm is that my kid. But she is nervous bc she knows how this looks. She knew very little about Aemond, or his family. But it takes one google search and she’s like ‘ofc he’s from one of those families’. She comes from a working class background. She can only imagine what his family would think about her

So, she shows up at [insert work place for Aemond I haven’t decided on]. Not super appropriate but she kind of has no other way to reach him.

He is confused to see her. She asks if they can get lunch, mainly bc she wants to tell him in front of people so he doesn’t act up lmao

Anyway he takes it… not great. He excused himself to go scream in the bathroom 😭. But when he comes back myrah reassures him she doesn’t want anything. This was a curtesy thing, and that she (and the baby) will be fine.

Aemond shocks her, and honestly himself, by asking if he can come to the first appointment. Myrah is halfway to saying no bc her parents advised her to cut ties cleanly especially if he doesn’t explicitly say he wants to be around permanately. But he looks so earnest so she says yes.

I sort of debated how I imagine Aemond telling his family, namely Alicent. Honestly I could see him jay blurting it out one night on the phone. Like ‘I’m having a kid’. Now this ofc shocks Alicent. Bc frankly, she thought if any kid would be making her a young grandma is Aegon. But she gives him sound advice about raising a child (especially while not being in relationship with the mom) is not easy. And if he’s not 100% in, he needs to leave them alone for their sake.

the thing that really pushes him to step up is viserys tbh. His father is so critical of him for this. Probably makes some disparaging comments about myah when he hears she’s essentially a struggling artist. Hinting at her doing this on purpose. And Aemond really can’t believe for a moment bc really??? Viserys targaryen has something to say about raising kids??? That’s rich. But then he remembers how clueless his father is so sure he would think he’s a great father/made good decisions and has room to talk

Anyway fast forward to the first appointment with the obstetric. I feel this appointment def lays the early stages of them being good for each other. It should be nerve wrecking and awkward, and don’t get me wrong some parts are, but he holds her hand and when they do the ultrasound he has that’s “their” baby in there.

When they leave, Aemond is very clear about wanting to make it work. Not just co-parenting but with myrah herself

Ok that was super long winded opening to their relationship. Anyway in terms of hiccups they may face. Aemond is a workaholic. Hard to curve and him and myrah butt heads a lot of what things are considered ‘important’ in life. It is understandable when you grow up in the family dynamic he did, that ideals in that department is murky. They both have to create appropriate boundaries before baby Baelor comes.

Moments they realize they could be happy together. For Aemond, the way she gels with his mom and siblings. Mainly Alicent. She also tells viserys and daemon to fuck off one night (she instantly feels guilty. Pregnancy hormones what can ya say) but Aemond loves her for it. Also when Baelor comes, Aemond sort of feels like his heart is bursting. For myrah, the fact that Aemond tries. She isn’t expecting perfection but nothing bothers her more than someone who dwells in their situation when they have the means/wherewithal to get better. Also he is very handson from the get go. One of her fav memories is him shooing her out of the apartment so him and Aegon could paint the nursery. As well decorating the nursery with him

Alex rarely ever touches him softly, that's not their thing, so the sudden change (outside of, like, aftercare after scenes) is super noticeable and instead of being like "Oh maybe he likes me" it just highlights to Jay how Alex doesn't really love him.

This bit feels more like Alex's thoughts about the whole thing, he's pulling on all the strings of Jay's love and affection so that he can break his heart and "save him" from everything by making him hate him enough to finally actually leave for good and stop trying to help. "There's always the next thing" is Alex trying to force Jay to move on. Obviously that doesn't happen, Jay's completely infatuated and no matter how badly Alex hurts him he'll always want to come back and help him.

From Alex's perspective he's doing something good, breaking Jay's heart by getting his hopes up and then dashing them is for the greater good, it's to save Jay from the Operator. He's giving Jay the chance to live, to move on and find "the next thing".

Even back in uni he was so sick of the way his not-relationship with Alex made him feel. They fucked -> he felt amazing -> they went their separate ways -> Jay felt like absolute shit because he knew it'd never mean to Alex what it meant to him. He was just on a constant rollercoaster of the highest highs plummeting into the lowest lows, but the adrenaline of the climb and the drop was so exhilarating (and all that he knew) that it just kept him on the rollercoaster indefinitely.

Then Alex moved away, and uni ended, and for Jay everything was finally gonna be in the past and he could move on. Except he didn't move on because he was unfortunately still infatuated with Alex, hence why all the relationships he tried to have after Alex just didn't work and were only ever about sex.

I have now decided that Jay never kissed any of the people he had relationships with after Alex.

So Ive looked at some theories in terms of the Sting n Darby versus JJJ match on Saturday, and here's my theory...

The match is either gonna end with A) Darby taking a pin, or hopefully B) Darby and Sting winning... but Sting getting the pin.

Bc let's think abt this. Darby's booking with Sting at first was really cool and the two have a wonderful sweet relationship. But as of late, him being tied to all these old stars has clearly just been weighing him down. He's gone from being elevated by Sting's presence to being stuck in his shadow. And he's addressed this- in his last promo before his fight with Jay, he even talked about being fed up and asking Sting to let him prove himself on his own.

And so he goes out and tries to do that, and what happens?

Sting gets dragged back into it. Darby's story and agency is overshadowed once again, because everyone's more concerned with Sting. Jarret's taunts about Sting being Darby's weakness has to be leading to something, too- and clearly they got into his head. It could just be Darby being Darby, but I noticed in the vignette last night, Sting seemed confident and normal, but Darby was noticably unenthused and grim.

This all has me thinking that whether they win or lose, Sting and Darby's tension is gonna be stoked by the result, and Darby is gonna snap.

I don't think I'd want him to turn ""heel"" really- Darby's always been a tweener, and it would be weird and ooc to see him genuinely become Evil out of nowhere. But I think this could be a really cool, interesting feud; a confused, betrayed mentor and his frustrated protégé just desperately trying to prove himself, convinced that if he can't be recognized on his own merits beside Sting, he needs to show his worth by Defeating him.

And then you could even have a happy ending! Where Sting eventually puts Darby over, and in the emotional aftermath the two finally make up. Sting's been talking about retirement anyway, and I can't see a better way for him to go out than by putting over his favorite newer star into a solid singles push.

This is definitely like, best case scenario in my mind... I'm trying not to be Too optimistic bc Darby's booking lately has been questionable, but hey, a girl can dream,

Tbh, not any CURRENT plans like within the next month or so to continue onto this fic or add another chapter like I said I might. I am currently working on a pretty big project and am doing the jrwi big bang event which is also probably gonna take up a lot of my attention. So there’s no plans right now to add to it but possibly in the future if I remember that this fic exists (bc my main problem is I forget they do)

Ehe but I’m glad that you like it! This is definitely one of the fics I’m more proud of so I’m super glad that you like it so much. There was a lot of conversation that happened in DMs behind that fic that came up with the entire idea, I think I’ve had several conversations with two different people about Chip and price funny enough.

And you’re right, they aren’t safe even when they get away, and Chip would know that. Even if jay and Gill don’t know that, they can definitely get some hints just by the way Chip was acting that this dude is no good. Because Chip, as HARD as he tried to be casual and subtle about it, was very obvious about it. Jay noticed something was wrong the second that price told him to shut up and Chip clammed up like he’s never known how to speak.

I think that as soon as Chip gets to the ship, he immediately, if not with a bit of delay, breaks down, which would subsequently make things worse (he’s not allowed to cry). He would isolate himself from the crew as much as he could, maybe hiding in the storage room or somewhere that no one would find him. He wouldn’t speak to them because he’s not allowed to and I think this would go on a few days maybe. I do think jay and gill, in an attempt to help him, would accidentally play into the things Price taught him and end up making it worse (they don’t notice it’s worse) before it gets better.

There’s a ton of stuff I could write after they get back to the ship, I just don’t have a ton of time to work on that right now when I got some big projects going on. But thank you for the ask! I’m super glad you like the fic and it made my morning to see all your thoughts.

It really confuses me how all the reviews on After Death are like “yeah you go Tim! Get out of there! Self care!” Like the complete opposite tone of what I was intending. I wrote when I was blisteringly hurt and angry after being ghosted not once but twice by my coworkers to present a project I’d worked hard on. I was mad and I wanted to write a tragedy to project that grief. 

Because that’s what I see that story as, a tragedy. I can’t read it over without feeling that grief and anger coming back. Tim is convinced he is unwanted and completely severs ties to the Batfam. In one sense it is better for him, lowering the stress and expectations but he directly states he would rather live alone than to only have half affection and that is... not a great state? Tim doesn’t do well by himself so in the short term it may be a relief its the start of what I predict to be a downward spiral of Tim flying solo without a net.

Bruce allows it because he thinks its what Tim wants, doesn’t really understand that he’s supposed to fight for his kids. He and Tim have always had a somewhat distant partnership, there always was some paper thin layer that prevented them from fully embracing as parent and child. Bruce is devastated, Tim is depressed and they let each other go bc they’re so similar they cant see the mutual cries for help.

Dick is not handling the situation well. He doesn’t cope well with loss and had been so busy with helping Dami and Jason that he let Tim slip out of his mind. Not to mention he’s still feeling the aftershocks of the Battle for the Cowl and was more than inclined to give Tim his space only to realize it was too much. Now once again he’s looking up and Tim is already gone and the bridge he always intended to build has turned into a chasm he can’t hope to cross.

Dami is feeling immense guilt, sorta correctly identifying his previous bad behavior as being responsible for driving Tim away. Distance has given Tim some clarity and he really does his best to soothe Damian but it’s not going to do much for Dami’s guilt. He drove his predecessor out of the family, had in fact become so comfortable with degrading and dismissing Tim that Dami is now questioning all of his forward progress in a way that’s really gonna haunt him.

And Jay, Jason is the only one with enough outside perspective to see this all coming. The other Bats are definitely resentful at Jason (and also Alf) for not bringing the issue up sooner even though it’s not up to them to tell the Bats to care for one of their own. Jason really does admire Tim for breaking away but will soon see the spiderweb of cracks its going to cause in the overall health of the family. He tries to establish a bond with Tim as a friend and not a brother until it becomes too awkward to ignore all the stuff that went down.

This is a Bad End AU, one written in anger and from an at the moment desire to cut off all the people I had worked so hard for with no reward. I’m glad people liked it and that people interpreted it well it’s just so fascinating to me because I just read it and feel such a heavy loss.

riptide and black rose crews intentionally designed together bc i fuck w those parallels so hard: arlin and chip are earth ponies, drey and jay are pegasi, and finn and gillion are unicorns. both so all crews have even mix of three, but also to reflect alrin+chip's simple non-magic side, drey+jay's bird symbolism, and finn+gill's magic/casting focus compared to their crewmates

chip still has the arlin earring, but in this case arlin's cutie mark was a gold axe (possibly w waves behind it?? or the waves are just a coat pattern like w pipsqueak, OR the bg of the cutie mark a la luna)

all the ferins have some kind of wing or bird in their cutie marks, like how the apple family all has apples-- both to symbolize the family bond but also works as freedom symbolism for drey and jay (possibly most have birds/feathers and they have Just Wings to push symbolism??? to be decided)

-- drey's looks a LOT like the canon emblem, w a side facing bird in front of a circle, but the circle is actually meant to represent the barrel of a gun. if family emblem exists in canon in this au, adds extra Hurt that he became a pirate.

-- jay's cutie mark is an open set of wings w a sunset/sunrise behind them. ties in general sun/fire theming AND represents a new change, a "new day" for her as she becomes and accepts being a pirate

undecided if i'll go thru w it yet (bc it depends on individual character design), but POSSIBLY the riptide jolly roger is literally Made Up of components from everyone's cutie marks: wings from jay, coral from gill, crack from chip

gill and finn both also share parts of their cutie marks to show their relation to one another (undecided, but likely?)

-- working rn w both cutie marks having tentacles in it-- for finn it's coming out/on top of of a page, to show his academic side + study of aquatic life. for gillion, it's on the blade/hilt of the sword (like in canon) to reflect how he was raised as a weapon.

-- alt gill designs include coral design or a design of a full moon + waves to represent the prophecy

-- also i know gillion being a non-pony makes the most sense and they LITERALLY have an aquatic race in canon but. i just dont like em enough JKDFSJKL sorry hes a horse until i can change my own mind

niklaus cutie mark is either the moon he gave gill (minus letters?), n gill gets niklaus' cutie mark instead of the canon mark, OR he has some kind of 6-pointed cutie mark (due to 6 points being used in mlp canon to represent fate/destiny, a la the main 6 and twilight's cutie mark)

ALSO like stated in prev tags: chip got his cutie mark immediately after the hole in the sea. like when he woke up type beat. and im leaning towards it being a whirlpool design (or a crack?? something chipped????). which means the universe decided his Special Fate and talent is lowkey his Big Trauma :tm: AND it means that he had no one to celebrate getting a cutie mark (which is a Big Deal in universe) with bc he just lost his WHOLE fam.

-- i imagine in au just like how chip has this Massive Hero Worship thing, he looked up to the black rose and was always SO excited for when he got his mark and was like "mines gonna be SO much cooler!!" or "I hope i get one like your!!" etc. and then. :))))

OKAY LOVE ISLAND WEEKLY DEBRIEF (i can’t remember it day by day so i’m just gonna do couple by couple):

gemma and luca: still very together, luca is very clingy it’s kinda weird. they were coupled up until danica came into the villa and chose to couple w luca just bc she thought he was fit. anyways…. luca’s still very much into gemma and whilst he was coupled up w danica he slept on one of the day beds (instead of joining him gemma decided to just stay in bed w davide which i still find hilarious)… they’re back together now and it still creeps me out but oh well - 4/10

andrew and tasha: ok so new guy charlie (the love island dan burn) comes into the villa and even tho they look like siblings, charlie and tasha have a hot tub date. tasha says she’s open to getting to know charlie but she’s still interested in andrew. she tells andrew this and he’s fine w it, but then andrew tells dami and luca this and they get very bitchy over the fact that tasha is open to getting to know a new guy (like that isn’t the point of this whole show)??? anyways there’s a recoupling and charlie picks ekin-su over tasha, so andrew picks tasha but during andrew’s speech luca and dami are like rolling their eyes and shaking their heads and tasha gets upset….. i’m sensing problems in their future so - 2/10

charlie and ekin-su: not much to say here tbh. i think ekin-su just likes charlie bc he’s interested in her, so she’s kinda playing it safe. she’s already alluded to the fact that he’s not her normal type and she doesn’t find him physically attractive but after what happened w jay she needed a new option. nothing to say on charlie bc i’ve seen brick walls that are more interesting than him. don’t see this lasting at all so - 1.5/10

side note // the jay & ekin-su drama: this was the most interesting thing that happened this week tbh. ok so ekin-su is w jay after basically binning off davide for him. apparently ekin-su is really starting to like him but it’s not really reciprocated; jay wants to get to know paige and also goes on a date w new girl antigoni, which also annoys ekin-su. after jay’s date with antigoni, he comes back ti the villa and tells ekin-su that he wants to get to know paige and at first ekin-su is like “yeah ok that’s cool thanks for telling me” and everyone’s like “wow ok that was easy” and jay is literally buzzing, going around to all the boys like “nahh ekin-su is proper chill i really appreciate how level-headed she’s been about this”….. cut to approx 10mins later when ekin-su grabs jay for a chat and is basically like “yeah i take back all that i said earlier, you’ve treated me very muggy, why do you want to get to know paige when she’s obviously happy with jacks, why didn’t you tell me this earlier….” etc etc. she kinda remixed the speech davide gave to her, calling him an actor, saying he should be given an oscar - and jay’s just like “yeah ok cool” and him and ekin-su are done. quite entertaining so - 7.5/10

jacks and paige: idk how to spell his name and idc. basically they’ve been proper mushy and coupled up, they spent a night in the hideaway at the start of the week. then jay approaches jacks and is like “i want to get to know paige, cool?” and jacks is like aggressively cool with it, basically telling jay to crack on, which is weird. jacks tells paige this and she’s a bit hurt bc why is he so ok w a guy getting to know her if he’s so interested in her??? anyways at the recoupling, jay chooses paige and jacks looks super hurt and he has to choose danica bc she’s the only girl left. ALSO they had a really cute moment at night where paige is in bed with jay and jacks in in bed w danica, but their beds are next to each other and jacks kinda grabs her hand and kisses it and it’s quite cute. i don’t fully trust jacks, he seems very slimy and him and luca are remind me of stereotypical white guys, but he seems to actually like paige. paige ofc is a sweetheart so for her i’m going - 8/10

indiyah and dami: so so so cute they’re literally so drama free. so ikenna and amber went home and then they had this challenge where they got very close and they kissed and just seem very cute w each other. new girl antigoni came in and chose dami to go on a date with, but he automatically kinda friend zoned her and told her how happy he was w indiyah. not much to say on these two bc they’re very drama free but bc indiyah is gorgeous im giving them a nice - 9/10

davide and antigoni: davide still weirds me out a bit bc of that whole gemma thing icl, but he has his funny moments. he kisses danica, and she’s like “wow ok” and everyone thinks they’re gonna crack on, only for him to pick antigoni in the recoupling. she’s gorgeous and seems really genuine tho - he’s also having a fun time just winding up ekin-su at every possible opportunity. not much to report here so i’m giving it a fair - 6/10

jays an independent journalist on a roadtrip to research like. god even fucking knows what. but his cars a piece of shit so it breaks the fuck down of course in the middle of nowhere and he stands around kicking it and yelling in the rain until a truck stops and the most handsome guy jays ever seen steps out and offers to help haul it to his place. he'll at least give jay a ride, theres no service out here. (he doesnt really give room to refuse.)

so jay rides out to this guys brothers? place? brothers? wifes? the guy doesnt really talk. and theres a girl on the porch, and shes pretty and blonde and she tells him to come in and have a drink- jay asks if shes the brothers wife and she laughs and tells him shes the sister in law. "or something like that". and he didnt really ask what the drink was, but its like? sweet tea? but wrong? but these nice people in alabama wouldnt fuck up sweet tea. jay smoked a joint in the car. thats it. and the brother comes out and hes better looking than the guy with the truck, almost, which like where the fuck did he go? he said he'd get jay a phone- but theyre taking him out to the kitchen- the brothers wifes cooking and she wants to meet him, and shes pretty too, tall and smart-looking, deep voice- big fucking knife in her hand- and is it jay or is it getting kinda fucking dark in here.

idk i think it wld be fun if they made a game of "letting him go" and just letting him get halfway down a hallway before somebody else drags him into a bedroom lol . brian lets his darling little wife and her meat cleaver wear him out and cuts the rope on his wrists- thats enough for tonight, isnt it? he oughta be going. and jay crawls, stumbles bleeding and disbelieving out into the hall - clutching the railing and hyperventilating and putting one foot in front of the other and - amy snags her arm in his. you arent going so soon, are you mister? oh gosh youre hurt ! come here, let me clean you up- and she ties him back up and asks if hes ever tried makeup and asks if hes ever tried s&m and asks if he wants to see a dead body and when his mascaras running and the dead girls dress she put him in is ripped and stained and half-on she tells him if he really wants to go that bad ... she cant really stop him ..... only for tim to scoop him up in the hall and pull the skirt up to fuck him over the railing, stoic as anything, knife at his throat

and theyre gonna kill him but they all keep putting it off bc hes cute and maybe stockholm syndroming the tiniest bit and maybe definitely was a freak to begin with and keeps getting hard when theyre doing fucked up shit to him and complimenting the human furniture
