O Jason não precisava ter morrido.

Em 1986, a DC abriu uma votação por ligação (sim, ligação, eram os anos 80!!!) para os fans decidirem se o Robin deveria morrer ou não. Dois anos depois em 1988, a DC lançou a comic Batman: Morte em Família, na qual o Joker torturou e matou o jovem Jason. O Batman realmente precisa de um Robin? Novamente, Bruce Wayne se tornou o solitário protetor de Gotham City.

Tem várias discussões na internet, nas quais várias pessoas que na época votaram para o Robin morrer, explicando o porquê de terem escolhido isso. Um dos maiores e mais ditos motivos para eles terem votado para o Robin morrer foram: não acharam que a DC iria matar o Robin de verdade (adolescentes são adolescentes em todas as épocas, e levaram na brincadeira a votação); as pessoas não matavam os caras bonzinhos simplesmente por matar, não era comum; e a maior de todas: muitos fans odiavam o Jason Todd como Robin.

Tinha o Dick Grayson que foi o primeiro Robin do Batman, que era muito foda já como Asa Noturna naquele tempo, e depois veio o Jason que muitas pessoas consideravam irritante e chato; mas ele era só uma criança. Sinceramente, pra mim, a morte dele é um dos, senão O acontecimento mais triste do universo Batman. Pelo que eu li, várias pessoas se arrependeram na época de ter votado pra ele morrer.

Mas de alguma forma, isso foi bom. Se o Jason não tivesse sido assassinado pelo Joker, nós provavelmente não teríamos o Capuz Vermelho, que é um dos personagens mais amados e populares hoje em dia.
