Batman but he's a weird bat hybrid like Manbat, just luckier and a fruit bat rather than a vampire bat. A silly nonsense au where Bruce and Kirk were both infected with the bat DNA.

A little gross and body-horror ish at the end :3c

The first few months of being infected seemed... almost normal. Bruce has identified exactly what Kirk had jabbed him with, and while fruit bat DNA certainly wasn't supposed to be in a human, it didn't seem to have any negative effects. Kirk had been shipped off to Arkham, but again, no weird effects from the vampire bat DNA he injected in himself. Of course, Bruce was heavily monitoring both of them, asking for frequent updates and blood samples. But after 4 months of Dr Langstrom having no ill reactions or even weird bat induced break out attempts, Bruce assumed things were... fine.

Then it wasn't fine.

It started with a growing craving for fruits. Alfred had brought down at least 3 different fruit salads to the Batcave in the past 12 hours alone, and Bruce was still unsatisfied. As he bit into his 7th apple, he stared at the bite marks he left behind. Since when did he have such pronounced fangs?

As he prodded at his fangs, nearly pricking himself, an alert suddenly popped up on the Batcomputer. Langstrom escaped Arkham. But the beast in the video of his escape was monstrous and nothing like frail, meek Kirk Langstrom. A large bat like thing, huge leathery wings and fur bursting from a torn straight jacket, fangs bared at the camera as its ears pinned back. As the feed cut out, Bruce grasped the desk in front of him, and strange pain ripping through his body. Behind him, he could hear Alfred talking. Or was it above him? He could hear Alfred, who was currently multiple stories above him in the manor. That shouldn't be possible...

Pushing through the pain, Bruce pulled on his cowl, the batsuit far more uncomfortable than normal. The heavy Kevlar weave and tight body armor felt like it was smaller than normal, the back and spine feeling horribly painful. As the Batmobile started it, Bruce gritted his too-sharp teeth, the sound loud and sharp in his ears... ears that were poking through his cowl? Gripping the wheel tighter, he had to just keep going. Man-Bat escaped, and Batman has to stop him.

Just as Bruce located Man-Bat, he was practically indisposed. He couldn't move, couldn't even thing, the agony of *something* trying to rip through the skin of his back becoming far too much. As he stumbled out of the Batmobile, his suit had already sent a distress signal to his family of vigilantes, an alert that he was in an unnatural amount of pain and needed help.

Leaning heavily against the Batmobile, he could hear the flap of wings above him, Man-Bat circling above head like he was stalking prey. Letting out a gutual noise, Bruce could feel something tearing, bursting past his spine and unfurling with a bloody, sticky squelch. Bat wings. Sleek, stained red from his own blood, but just as horrific as Man-Bats. The bat DNA that had infected both of them has finally kicked in, turning poor Kirk into a monstrous vampire bat while Bruce was luckier enough to keep his sanity as a fruit bat.

20 years ago today, the television series ‘The Batman’ premiered on Kids' WB.

After the tv show ‘Batman Beyond' stopped airing in 2001, Kevin Conroy's Batman joined Superman, Wonder Woman and other DC members in the DCAU cartoon series 'Justice League', which aired from November 2001 to May 2004. On September 11, 2004, a new Batman centric animated show aired called 'The Batman', created by Michael Goguen and Duane Capizzi. 'The Batman' follows Bruce Wayne (voiced by Rino Romano) in his apparent third year of being Batman in Gotham City, juggling between fighting colorful villains such as The Joker and Penguin and being a playboy billionaire in his early 20s.

Not set within the classic DC Animated Universe created by Eric Radomski, Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett and others, 'The Batman' featured character designs by Japanese-American concept artist Jeff Matsuda. While keeping the same values the Caped Crusader, his allies and infamous rogues gallery sustained over several decades, Matsuda gave a sleek re-design that still presented a mysterious crime drama for a younger audience to appreciate. However much criticism given to the show for its “kiddish” portrayal of this favored dark mythos, radically different from Radomski and Timm's film noir take a decade prior, 'The Batman' lasted for five seasons (aired from late 2004 to March 2008), had a successful toy line, and is part of the Dark Knight animated tv history.🦇📺

Dick didn't know how it ended up like this.

The GCPD is covered with flowers, love letters, and postcards of almost all of the Gotham Rogue Gallery, all addressed to Batman.

It didn't help that Dick was the last to use the Batsuit that entire week, covering for Bruce so he could heal from an important shoulder injury. And hey, he was tired, taking off the Nightwing suit for the night only to be called to be the emergency replacement cought him off guard, and the next day he still had to keep the same routine to keep both Bludhaven and Gotham safe.

So yes, maybe he joked around with Bruce's villains too much, so sue him. But them interpreting that as genuine flirting was mortifying.

Sure, he *asked* the Riddler for riddles beacouse he was bored in the slower night of that week,but wasn't sending an engagement ring in response for their "magical night together" (15 minutes of indulging some riddling) a bit too much?

Fine, he joked that if he ever needs a lawyer he'll call Dent, but seeing him on national television arguing he should get his lawyer licence back is too far, since when do people listen to Batman the vigilante for legal advice? He seemed to be trying to turn his life around (without stoping his crimes,somehow) and the flowers were sent to Bruce directly.

Oh, so now you can't compliment a man's suit without the Penguin sending you his literal tailer wrapped up like a present? give him a break.

He asked Harley where she got the Hyenas (for Damian) and got into a discussion on how to properly love and raise exotic pets, and yes leaving a full grown tiger for him in Gordon's doorsteps is insane Harley (Battiger is nice though, Robin says thanks).

He though he was being sooo funny by giving Killer Croc a 'men fear me, fish fear me too' hat, now he keeps showing up in Bruce's patrols becacouse he thinks they are best friends now, or mates? he does NOT want to know.

He called Manbat 'cousin' just for giggles, the roumor has picked up and Bruce gets asked twice a week about it now, that one was on purpose. He left rats hanging from the GCPD precint like a cat, he prays to God Bruce doesn't become inervetedly attached to it, the Batcave is full no thank you.

Ivy had been nice, they just chatted about plants for a bit beacouse Dick's been thinking of getting a Bonsai, she was delighted and sent a starter kit.

He chatted with a goon about his daughter and how she's around Robin's age while waiting to ambush Clayface, and there's a chance he set Damien up for a playdate.

Only Catwoman caught on, beacouse Dick was uncomfortable with her flirting instead of going along, she told nobody.

Do people really not remember or understand that Batman s worst enemies are nothing but ordinary people? Like Joker Harley Harvey Jonathan Hugo Selina Rupert Throne? I would add in Ra and Talia but they go into the mystic arts and just a zombie come back potion so I don't think that counts as ordinary? I guess them in general counts? Even just ordinary low criminals give Batman a run for his money once in a while so when people say that it's hypocritical for Bruce to be talking like he has experience or what so ever when it comes to fighting with non magical beings...
