Pairing: Adult!Damian Wayne/Reader

Summary: Reader's father and Bruce arranged for her and Damian to marry. However, before Reader's father could truly sit and explain to her his decision he passed away. And Damian never thought to question his father's decision at all.

Reader's mother only saw dollar signs for this arrangement and forced it to happen much quicker than ever anticipated. Now it's just two strangers that have been forced together and trying to navigate the expectations of becoming the new IT couple of Gotham while trying to keep their secrets under wraps as Reader learns what it means to be the new Wayne Matriarch since the death of Martha Wayne.

Your signature on the dotted line beside Damian’s. You looked at him from the corner of your eye, he looked straight ahead as he spoke to the lawyers, ensuring that the marriage license and the contracts were all legally sound. 

“Ma’am-” Alfred’s voice pulled at you and you met the old man’s gaze. “Are you alright?” 

You nodded and smiled. It was practised. Simple. “Yes, thank you.” 

The old man didn’t seem convinced but he didn’t push more. You were fine with that. You were fine with being left by yourself. 

The Waynes had suffered enough at the hands of Gotham and yet, here was the last one. Still trying to make something of this god-awful city. Why didn’t he just leave? He could afford it. You watched him, standing next to Alfred, ever dutifully. 

Bruce Wayne was locked away in his estate due to a mysterious illness. But you knew. You knew that he was old, and severely injured. Unable to move much, unable to show himself to the city without speculations rising as to why the billionaire was covered in scars. 

The rest had passed young, though; also very mysteriously. But you’d been told. Told what truly had happened. Why this- this sham of a marriage was taking place.

Damian Wayne is the current Robin and like all other robins it's only a matter of time before he leaves that mantle behind but Damian is a unique case to the robin mantle rather than being adopted he's the blood son of the bat and brother/ son figure to Nightwing who was like a father to him. With how much both of them influenced his life and Damian seeming to take after both of them who mantle will Damian most likely inherit?

I think more people need to play around with Damian's speech. Don't get me wrong, I love the antiquated Victorian child style of speech, but also he's a teenager that swears plenty in the comics. We really need more scenes like:

Damian: Father, I regret to inform you that I have been assigned in-school suspension for the next three days.

Bruce: What, why?!

Damian: My classmate Kevin was disparaging a female classmate for turning him down, so I called him 'a rizz-less, basic-ass neckbeard bitch' and said I was going to fuck his mom and give her a son she'd actually love.

Bruce: *is completely speechless*

Damian: That is all I needed to tell you. If you will excuse me, I have homework to complete before dinner and patrol.

It's raining nonstop where I am so I'm just picturing the Batfam during a flood.

Red Robin uploads a TikTok from the safety of a roof saying "watch him go!" As Red Hood keeps trying to drive his bike against the current. A big wave comes by and he's slowly dragged downhill. The caption reads "don't drive during floods".

Batman and Robin are on the ground helping civilians out of cars when the intensity doubles and in minutes Damian goes from wading knee deep in the water to swimming. The emergency batfloaties get triggered and he floats away as Bruce fails to grab him by half an inch. "Robin serenely drifting in the current" becomes a meme.

Someone takes a picture of a very flustered spoiler trying to squeeze the water out of her cape. The second she lets go the weight of the water makes her fall ass over backwards. Black Bat ends up giving her her waterproof cape.

Signal makes mirages of sharks in the water to scare the shit out of any criminals. Oracle uploads the recordings with Benny hill as background music. Bludhaven escapes the worst of the storm and Nightwing sends pictures to the group chat patting the barely wet concrete just to rub it in. He still slips on a puddle and eats shit, Barbara sends that to the group chat.

Guests at a gala notice that Brucie Wayne is surprisingly jacked. Like, a suspicious amount of muscle for a CEO who lives a life of luxury and doesn't do any physical labour. An amount of muscle that goes beyond "works out to stay fit and look good". And when he's asked about this by a gossip columnist guest he panicks (he's running on 2 hours sleep) and says "It's so I can pick up my kids!"

Now everyone is looking at his kids. Cass and Tim are tiny at 5’ 5 and 5' 7. Damian is still a kid and he's also small. Dick is bigger, but picking him up wouldn't require that much muscle. Maybe Duke, who is still growing but looks like he could be about Bruce's height when he's fully grown? Maybe him?

Then Jason officially returns from the dead. And everyone looks at the 6' 4, 260lbs walking double fridge and goes "Ahhh, ok then."

I love the idea of all the batkids kinda being weird with Bruce's money - Dick doesn't want it; Tim has his own money; Damian was born in luxury and doesn't really comprehend Bruce showing affection with money. And then there's Jason texting Bruce something like "put a couple of hundreds on my bank account" or just forwarding Bruce his bills because goddamn, that boy has pride but he's not stupid: if the old man wants to pay, let him fucking pay.
