How I Imagine The BNA Characters Would React To Meeting Their Normal Animal Versions

Shirou & Wolf: The wolf keeps trying to be all affectionate but Shirou keeps pushing it away. Like it walks over to sniff-snoof him, Shirou pushes it away with a "No!", it tries to curiously bite his foot, again pushed away with a "No!". Finally, it just lays on top of him like a lap dog and pins Shirou down while he grumbles angrily.

Michiru & Tanuki: Michiru comes out of the room covered in scratches, bites, missing fur patches, and bleeding everywhere but cradling the tanuki like a baby with a big smile on her face. When asked, Michi replies "She loves me!".

Nazuna & Fox: Nazuna just sits on the floor with the fox hiding in a corner for a while. The fox seems terrified of Naz till she starts "PSPSPSPSPSPSP"ing and making little hand motions to lure it over. The fox comes over and Nazuna thinks this will be her Disney princess moment till the fox bites her hand really hard and scares the shit out of Nazuna. She then sits cowering in a corner nursing a fox bite while the fox does fox things.

Marie & Mink: Marie just lays on the floor on her stomach kicking her legs like a schoolgirl while watching the mink flop around like an idiot mink. Meanwhile, Marie's like "I like your vibe, kid, wanna go commit crime with me?".

Pinga & Albatross: Pinga walks out of the room with the bird on his arm like a falcon. He insists he has tamed it while it nips at his hair.

Rose & Mole Rat: Rose just walks out of the room with the rat chilling in her shirt pocket. Meanwhile, a guy is just following he like "Ma'am, ma'am? You can't take the rat with you. Ma'am, you need to give the rat back. Ma'am, please stop running. Ma'am!"

Nina & Dolphin: Nina is laughing and chitchatting with the dolphin like a teen gossip till it gets bored with her and smacks her in the face with its tail cause it's a dolphin and they are assholes.

Boris & Snake: The snake just bites Boris and injects him with so much venom based on his bad vibes alone. Nazuna and Michiru later insist on adopting the snake for that very reason. From that point on the snake is a dopey sweetheart who never bites anyone ever again.

Alan & Wolf: The wolf just cowers in the corner occasionally barking at Alan cause his vibes are so atrocious that it drives off nearby animals.

The way my fight or flight response is triggered when I read a bad take or someone just blatantly misreads RWBY or it’s characters is so insane. I don’t think I’ve ever been this defensive of a show before.

I think part of it is just the amount of absolute vitriol this show gets for no reason. If you don’t like the show that’s fine. There are plenty of shows other people love that I have zero interest in or just don’t care for. Sometimes a show just isn’t made for you. And that’s FINE.

But there’s just so much purposefully bad takes and bad faith criticism, and it feels so relentless sometimes. You can’t post something positive about it without at least one troll deciding that you liking and celebrating something you love is an insult directed at them as a person.

It can just be a lot when it feels like something you love is just constantly getting crapped on.

So let me say this again, with nothing but love and conviction:

I love RWBY. I love this show so freakin much. This show, even with all its flaws and stumbles, is my favorite show. Possibly ever. Most certainly of the last decade.

I love its themes and its message. I love the characters. I love the music. I love the animation, was even endeared by the Poser era. I love that it feels like the people behind the show love and care about it just as much. I love how each volume is another milestone, another mark to look back and go ‘see how far we’ve come?’

And not to be so melodramatic, but none of the trolls can ever take that away from me.

As a multishipper I often will be like "i ship those two in one universe and those two in another." And some other times it makes me consider poly and I come up with a brand new and fun poly ship.

But sometimes, sometimes

I want these characters to cheat on eachother. I need these characters to flirt with one while dating another in front of their ex and I need them to watch the other two kissing and go mad with need and I need them to sleep with one with a blindfold on so they can pretend they're fucking the other while their partner ends up screaming the other's name I need them to know they're being cheated on and enjoy the power this guilt creates in their relationship with both the people involved in the cheating I need them to cheat on eachother with the same person who also thinks they're cheating on the other two with the other two I need them to sleep with eachother on the night before their wedding with the other I need them to go mad with jealousy over their partner's lover to the point they become obsessed with them and wanna become them and get into their skin I want them to be so abnormal I want them to be a single one-night-stand that will haunt them forever like the ghost of that moment haunting the relationship to the point those memories parasite every sexual and romantic memories they have I want them to not fuck and be so charged and full of yearning the one they're actually dating is an outsider in this intimacy I want one of them to fake their death to haunt them forever, I want the memory of what they could have had haunt every moment of their relationship forever I want them to make couple therapists retire I want them to go to a love coach and make the love coach burst in tears I want them to fuck on one another's grave while the supposedly dead one is watching behind a tree I want them to have an affair once and then name their baby (had with the other, who is their affair-partner's ex) after the other, I want them to get closer in a "being with you is the closest I'll ever get to being close to them" way I want them to decide "i am the only one allowed to kill them" and compete with someone else for that right I want them to set the wedding certificate on fire in front of the other two I want them to witness them fucking once never say anything and be changed forever I want them to love eachother in ways so dysfunctional it makes Freud's theories sound tame I want them to die in a fire I want them to be the fire I want them to never grow and get better and make the world suffer from it and I want them to enjoy it.
