I have evolved into Scuttlespring anon, just say anything about them. I love them so much
THE ANON PANTHEON GROWS
Ok so. Gorgug likes Mary Ann because she absolutely infuriates him but also, and perhaps more importantly, because she has a type of confidence I think a younger Gorgug would have deeply envied. She's so weird, but entirely sure of herself. She likes what she likes and anyone who would have a problem with that is absolutely beneath her notice. She has friends not despite her oddities, but because she refuses to bend about them and that confidence is incredibly attractive in a person. Mary Ann Skuttle see's something she wants and she just...goes and gets it, easy peasy. Tiny little kobald strides, but when she puts her foot down with force, Gorgug thinks she could crush a mountain under with nothing so much as a blink or falter of her stride. She's certainly physically strong enough for it, and while Gorgug is undisputedly the better fighter, Mary Ann has a physical strength hidden under soft pastel pink hoodies and can, has, and will knock Gorgug on his ass. Gorgug got THRASHED at those Bloodrush field tryouts, and I'm certain he probably got his ass handed to him more than once during the year while at practice but before he quit the team. She made him so damn mad, everything that year was, and endlessly kind Gorgug got real mean to her over it. She was better than him, more casually confident, and didn't blink ONCE at his outburst. And later? When she was resurrected and freed from possession? He talks to her, acknowledges that it was just a game but he had been actually mad to be so easily knocked aside. He never really had to work at Bloodrush to be good at it, he just was, until suddenly she proved herself better.
And yet, without flinching, Mary Ann, famous for not giving a shit but listening to Gorgug say how much he had, just....asks if he has a girlfriend. Unparalleled confidence, shooting a shot he was unprepared for. Planets aligned even as his own orbit was knocked off course. And then, when he admits he doesn't even know where to get a quokki pet, something its been explicitly known to be something she really cares about? She writes down her number, letting him see that folded paper. She initiated this, and he got swept up in it, but instead of just handing over the number and allowing him to be swept up- Mary Ann Skuttle puts the number away and tells him shes gonna put it where you get quokki pets, and if he wants her number he's going to have to go get it. He's not allowed to just be swept up in the force of her, she wants him to put in effort, prove to her and himself that this isn't just a moment but a starting point. He cant be swept up by the tide, he's gotta swim. Gorgug liked Zelda, but their relationship started because they thought she was in danger and Gorgug had the best in. He stumbled into that relationship unsure and off balance, he never would have had the confidence to pursue Zelda without his friends hands on his back and their advice in his ears. Later on he gets more serious, he did love her and he put in the work to maintain that relationship, but it didn't work out and that's ok. Ever confident Mary Ann tho? She doesn't want unsure stumbling steps into this relationship. If Gorgug doesn't make the active decision to chase her, to WANT to be with her and putting deliberate effort to get there, then she doesn't want him at all. Gorgug, confused, asking where you even GET a quokki pet? And she smirks, calls him a loser, and walks away leaving him reeling and dumbfounded. Mary Ann Skuttle wants Gorgug to work for this. And who is Gorgug Thistlespring, but someone who puts in the work for things he wants? He did the seemingly impossible by creating his own subclass of Barbaficer, even if he had to take four years of schooling all at once. He puts in the work and makes the impossible possible, the greatest wizard of this age. So yeah. Yeah. Gorgug Thistlespring likes Mary Ann Skuttle because she makes him work for it.

My question is if Gorgug used his Barbaficer scan on Porter instead of Henry when he was testing it out what would he have seen? Would we have found out the truth a little sooner?

And what if I said I wanted a FH au where Gorgug is a barbarian/artificer teacher at Aguefort academy, specialising in helping multiclass students, who has a workshop and builds commissions as a side business (he has a high level of barbarian clients, who usually break or ruin regular artificer machines).
What if I wanted a FH au where Fabian becomes a bard/fighting teacher, using his mother’s sword lessons to teach students, taking over both dance club and bloodrush coach (who on weekends does dance classes and dances in local and national shows).
What if I wanted a FH au where Kristin recognises herself in the confused cleric students who are suddenly learning more about religion than their families taught them, and decides that she can assuade their doubt (they are encouraged to ask questions always, and she assures them that they don’t need to be certain to deserve kindness).
What if I wanted a FH au where the Aguefort academy has a sort of careers day, for those not looking for an adventuring career, and the students get to watch as their cleric, barbaficer and bard fighting teacher walk in with the most successful PI of Solus, the Elven Oracle and famous singer and Devil of Rebellion, acting like they’ve known each other forever.
What if the students look, and find an old photo in Agueforts office, of the six of them, fire and rubble in the background, hugging and laughing, with a post it note on the back of -the bad kids, do not seperate-.

Hi yes I’m thinking about Gorgug Thistlespring who brought a tin flower to school on the first day to Gorgug Thistlespring the barbaficer who can infuse items for his friends and give them a flash of genius.

Honestly, out of all the Rat Grinders+Bad Kids, the one interaction I wanted that we never got is Kipperlily and Gorgug.
Because it’s sort of implied in Freshman Year that Gorgug has had issues with controlling his rage in a way that II read as ‘he’s gotten in trouble before for hurting other people while in a rage, and that makes him repress his anger.’ And the Thistlesprings are great, but it’s shown that they sometimes ignore Gorgug’s rage issues, or give solutions that aren’t entirely effective. And KLCK has her unaddressed anger issues that the adults in her life ignore, so she doesn’t get the help she needs.
Also, their backgrounds are arguably the most similar. Gnomes and Halflings live close together in Elmville (i think), and both sets of parents are regular people with steady jobs and no adventurous background. The only difference is Gorgug being adopted, and even then the Thistlesprings never treated him like an outsider, or purposefully excluded him.
Just imagining KLCK seeing Gorgug, acclaimed adventurer, known rockstar, pioneering Barbaficer, and wondering if she could have channelled her anger like that. If she got the support from friends and parents that Gorgug did, would she still feel the need to be so angry?
And Gorgug, seeing KLCK want the trauma of his friends, wondering if he could have been that. Did he ever want something to happen to him that would justify his rage? Did he ever think that he wasn’t allowed to be angry unless he was hurt like his friends were? There’s no reason he would have known who KLCK was, but if he did, would he have been able to help her with her anger, like his friends did with him? Maybe it’s why Gorgug never made fun of her name the way the others did. Maybe there’s a moment of recognition there, that it could have been him.

Maybe a weird idea, but what if for Fantasy High: Senior Year, it was set ~50 years in the future or so, where all the Bad Kids are seniors now (hence the name). This can allow the Fantasy High series to get out of just the high school setting, the huge time jump means the characters can be level 20, the plot doesn’t have to revolve around immediate things that happen a year after this last season.
Fig can have her separation from the group where she’s lived many years doing her own thing growing. Emily can even choose to keep her retired, saying she’s happy just being a rock star or arch devil in hell or whatever she wants Fig to ultimately do, and can have another character or bring Fig back for a little here and there if she wants, without it being expected to bring Fig back.
Fabian can have his little sibling all grown up, and we can explore more about that. Chungledown Bim can be defeated during the time skip or even as a side plot during the season. He can be retired and not have to worry about keeping up his maximum legend status all the time, and live peacefully but accomplished.
Riz will probably have spent tons of his time exploring other planes of existence, being a secret agent with his dad, taking down all kids of baddies across the universe. He won’t have to be so stressed all the time having to keep tabs on his friends and make sure they don’t get themselves killed (though now he does have to do this with all of the newbies at his job).
Kristen is finally living her best life with a huge congregation following her pantheon of gods, spreading the word of doubt and justice and the true meaning of what these gods stand for. And who knows, maybe Kristen resurrected even more. Now Kristen is making sure each god has a following that believe in and shape the gods in the way the gods want to be shaped.
Adaine has long killed her mother at this point. Her and Aelwyn are best friends, inseparable, though each with their own independent life. I’ve also seen a couple posts about how Adaine would make a good principal (much better than Augefort at least), so she could be doing that as well as changing Fallinel to be less stuck up and pompous. Also she’s settled into her role as the Elven Oracle, and while it may still annoy her that every elf and their mother seems to want a prophecy from her, she at least accepts that her visions are important enough to change the tides of the world and her role shouldn’t be taken so lightly.
And lastly, Gorgug has proven himself as the greatest wizard of all time. Barbaficer has become as common as any other class. He’s changed the world with his inventions, and could be head of some engineering department or whatever that’s brought the entire world of Spyre into the future with crystals and vehicles and all sorts of technological advances that could never have been dreamed of before he came along.
And after all of this personal growth each of the characters had, they have to get together for “one last adventure, for old times’ sake.” But none of them have really adventures in a couple years. Not like when they were younger, that is, but whatever’s going on can’t be stopped by just anyone.
I was also thinking that tbh, it would be neat to maybe explore permanent deaths for the characters at the end, whether it’s from the final battle or the epilogue where each Intrepid Hero gets to choose how their character finally passes, and ends their story. It can put the Fantasy High series to rest in a good way, maybe leaving an open ending to give way for a new generation of heroes but also a final ending to the Bad Kids (so fans don’t keep asking for another year, then another, maybe college this time, etc etc.)
It would also be fun to start off the season with their deaths, have the typical introductions and scene settings that happen with each season, and then the end of the episode: BAM! They all die, put to rest, who will avenge them, the story begins, the Intrepid Heroes start their actual characters, and the whole season is whatever the cast wants it to be, I’m just not sure how well that would work, or how it would still play into being Fantasy High without the main characters. Maybe it could be a side quest or even a longer one-shot or something if they did it this way

Things we know or can deduce about Gorgug’s Barbaficer Subclass + Feats! I preface this by saying I didn’t go back in the episodes to find the proper “names” of the feats mostly because we don’t even know if they were using them or just saying what they needed to get the point across lol.
Tool Knack/“Rage Against The Machines”: This one seems full homebrew to me and is also fairly simple, Zac more or less read off the ability description in an episode. As a bonus action, the Barbaficer can whack a broken/malfunction piece of technology to force it back to its working state. Due to the limited situations in which this can be helpful, I’d guess it’s what is standing in for his first (Level 3) Barbaficer Specialist Feature.
Elemental Rage: It’s likely that this may just be a modified version of the Pathfinder Unchained Barbarian’s “Elemental Stance” Rage Power! When raging, the Barbaficer chooses a type of elemental damage to infuse into their attacks and become resistant to for the duration of their rage. It seems possible to stack with Absorb Elements for either double elemental damage being dealt back out or for multiple different elemental resistances. Due to it representing the combination of his experiences (but also process of elimination), I’d guess it’s his second (Level 5) Barbaficer Specialist Feature.
Battle Gear/Gadgets: This one seems like a mix of homebrew and an expansion on the Artificer’s Infusion List. The Barbaficer gains a set of tools optimized for battle. These tools can only be used a certain amount of times per day, it is unclear if the “uses” are a pool for all tools or if each tool has its own number of daily uses. I also don’t know that we’ve seen the full list but we do know two of them! Gorgug’s Goggles can be used to obtain one piece of information about an opponent, including their HP, immunities, resistances, vulnerabilities, and potentially more. It is unclear if the goggles can be used multiple times on the same person to glean multiple pieces of information and what it takes in terms of action economy as they were never used in battle. Gorgug’s Grenades can be used as a reaction to distract or disorient an opponent, giving them disadvantage on a roll. The way that these tools are spoken about seems to imply that they do not count towards Gorgug’s known Infusions or count against his Attunements. Due to the variety/complexity it can add to the battlefield, I’d guess it’s the third (Level 9) Barbaficer Specialist Feature. Not to mention the fact that Zac dropped a level of Barbarian, losing the Mindless Rage Feat, to get access to his third Artificer Feat and I doubt he’d choose Elemental Rage over Mindless Rage.
And lastly, Artificers get their last Subclass/Specialist Feat at level 15! Since last we saw Gorgug he had deleved in Barbarian down to level 5 it is possible, that if we get a Senior Year and Gorgug continues to exclusively take Artificer levels, that we could one day see that last feat. It is also possible for the current feats to gain a thing or two, the most likely being access to more tools/gadgets or an increased amount of daily “uses” of said tools/gadgets and increased damage output from elemental rage.

okay so about that d20 leverage au that won the poll. we're gonna do this in bullet points bc it just works better for my brain i suppose (see tangled au for examples)
postcanon
several years postcanon
we're talking early to mid twenties bad kids
funnily enough fig dropping out did a great job of setting up this whole thing bc the premise relies on the bad kids, while still loving each other and being a team, eventually splitting off to do their own thing. and their various "own things" spiral into crime, and they lose contact with each other, only to all be pulled into the same job later and end up being a team again. yay!
but first. context
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW. leverage is a tv series that ran from 2008-2012, following the heists of the leverage team: a group of criminals, each the best in their field (hitter, hacker, grifter, thief, mastermind) taking down corporations and ceos and giving the money to their victims. it's really fun and has the best found family portrayal ive seen in A While
back to the bad kids
fabian drops off the grid first in true dramatic fabian fashion. by faking his death to escape his mother's abuse for good. and then deciding to be better than his father--by doing a better job of stealing than him. he uses his dexterity to his advantage and becomes one of the most dangerous art thieves in spyre. he's the thief
gorgug takes on a few security jobs for the council of chosen when his parents' ownership of the tree is threatened, to ensure they'll have the money to keep their home. this spirals, however, and to keep both sets of parents safe he ends up taking a few jobs on the...more dangerous side. and once you're in, it's hard to get out. he's a retrieval specialist utilizing his specific barbaficer talents--he's the hitter and the maker
the court of stars goes back on their word regarding adaine's payments. with an understanding of arcanotech and her foresight, she takes to siphoning money from the people and organizations who don't need it to ensure that the mordred mortage stays paid, lydia's PT is covered, and that bee applebees's (who moved into the manor midway into senior year) college stays paid. she also takes a few jobs and challenges to pay her own bills. the oracle is, much like in batman, the hacker
being the former chosen one of helio and the lead cleric of a new pantheon gives you a lot of connections, and kristen has always been good at filling in gaps and better at negotiating than people realize. if she needs to cut a few backroom deals, dig up dirt on some prospective allies, she'll do it. the system's failed her and the others before. why shouldn't she work outside of it? kristen is the fixer.
fig's music career takes off--and then the dawn family decides to go after and disgrace sandra lynn after fig makes it clear that she's coming after them for hurting her mom. fig digs more and more into her disguise and con-artist talents to get them to back off, and by the time she takes them down...well, fig (no cig figs) might not be onstage anymore, but she's given some very impressive performances, and she's ready to take a more hands-on approach when it comes to getting what she wants. fig is the grifter
riz doesn't want to take the council of chosen job. he doesn't. his mom's biggest fear was always him following in pok's footsteps, and he doesn't want to work for them after how badly they've failed him and his friends (his lost, missing, or seemingly dead friends), but...they pay well now. really well. better than PI work, and he figures he'll work for them for a couple of years, save up enough to quit, and then maybe try some adventuring of his own. this goes on until he gets a mission: steal a particular set of new arcanotech spell components. his team has already been hired.
his team is the rest of the bad kids
it's one hell of an awkward reunion. everyone is happy to see each other but no one knows what to say, so they focus on the job and try not to think about how this might be the last time they work as a team. riz definitely doesn't let himself think about it.
until it's revealed that this was a ploy by the council to kill them all off. the company they stole for was in on it, because the council promised to put them ahead of the competitors that the team stole from.
unfortunately, they forgot that the bad kids are Very Hard To Kill, and very dangerous when pissed off
riz leads the team in a very elaborate heist to take down the company who was in on the plan and humiliate the council of chosen. it works. it's beautiful. they're a team. heartfelt conversations are had. they fall back into old dynamics with a side of new skills, new goals, new experiences. they missed each other. they love each other.
and then they win. and it's time to separate--except they don't. because they've fought plenty of bbegs in their time...but maybe it's time to take down the enemies that the law can't (won't) touch.
the six of them are the leverage team, and riz is the mastermind.

Bad Kids post series theories:
Fig: fairly obvious given what happened at the end of Junior Year. Traveling with Ayda and running a recording studio in hell. Shes freer than ever and feeling more like herself. Her tet a tet with agent Clark has gone from antagonistic to playful. He asks her for tips on deception, she’s trying to get him to leave the council of chosen. Always summonable for movie night.
Adaine: the next principal of the Aguefort Adventuring Academy, whether by Arthur being an actual villain, playing at being one, or just deciding to retire, Adaine is on his short list to take over. What’s that? Oh no she’s the ONLY name on the list - that smudge only LOOKS like it says Gilear. Thriving. Helping students in every way she can while staying true to Arthur’s original intent for the school. More present as an administrator and beloved by the student body. Expands the counseling services at the school so Jawbone isn’t the only one working with the kids. Ropes in Telemaine to help - there’s a rumor that she got black mail on him?
Gorgug: At Aguefort’s suggestion, he becomes a teacher at the academy specializing in the barbaficer multiclass. He teaches supplemental courses for each class individually as well and has subbed for both Henry and the new barbarian teacher. Another beloved member of the staff, he rocks up in beat up jeans, high tops, a CLEAN hoodie ( he has a spare in his bag for messy work) and a black pinstripe blazer. There’s drumsticks in his back pocket, you KNOW which car he drives in the faculty parking lot. Finally moves out of his parent’s place into his own space but visits them frequently. He and Mary Ann are still buds
Fabian: He and Mazey are featured dancers in the extended music video (9 minutes, big rock breaks like a rock song from the 80s) for “Dawn of Justice”, cementing them as a power couple in the dance world of Spyre. He and Mazey tour for a while, eventually establishing a budding dance studio business that teaches all styles. Adaine does call upon him as her champion time and again. He beefs with his younger sibling but in that way that all siblings do, he actually would go to the ends of the earth to protect them.
Riz: starts a legitimate private investigator business in Elmville. He switches back and forth between coffee and tea and has learned to take more breaks now that he’s in a stable place. Given his track record, business does well and he’s much more reliable than the local PD could ever be. He makes enough to move his mom out of strong tower into a nice little bungalow near the Thistlesprings. He and Gorgug are roommates for a while until he’s able to get an apartment set up above his business. Sklonda insists on him having so separation between work and home and he takes her words to heart. Gives talks at Aguefort
Kristen: Vice Principal of Aguefort. Gilear retired to spend more time at home and Adaine needs a VP. Given how much Aguefort helped with her growth, she takes the job. She’s very caring about the student body and does what she can to inspire creative thinking through doubt and mystery as well as championing justice for all students. She and Tracker go back and forth for a while on their relationship, eventually deciding to break it off after an earnest discussion about their wants and needs. Bucky shows up at Mordred one night, breaks down crying, and is immediately accepted into the household. She’s very dedicated to making sure he’s okay.

really hoping we don’t get an asshole gorgug arc it’d be so cringe (here referring to secondhand embarrassment)
Meee tooo but it honestly seems like something gorgug isss drifting towards.. but that may just be porter being a poor influence.. i mean hes a barbaficer (??) Now but he still hasnt found a way to make it work..
It does seem like gorgug is falling into that stereotypical barbarian rage bc thats what hes told is right.
Other than that i do think its a veryyy fun parallel to ragh and using rage to cover up insecurities.. fun 2 watch for me .
