Jason finally giving into affection re: Bruce but he does it Mandalorian style. which is to say he headbutts Bruce so hard he breaks his nose and then presses their foreheads together while Bruce bleeds everywhere. somehow this is cathartic for them both.

Okay so my timeline of events may not be great, but wouldn’t it be funny if Damian found out about Tim blowing up the league bases?
Wouldn’t it be funny if he found out his brother gave the people inside about 10 minutes to run before killing them all?
Wouldn’t it be funny if he knew them? If he knew the servants that worked there? The gardeners? The caretakers? The young assassins, younger than him, still in training?
Wouldn’t it be funny if he’d had friends there? Friends who aren’t there anymore. Friends who suddenly went silent, who he lost contact with. Friends who are dead. Friends who his own brother murdered?
Now wouldn’t that be hilarious.

The Knight’s Red Robin
There was a heaviness to the kid, like the weight of the world was on his shoulders and he was struggling to stay upright. A sort of world-weariness he’d only ever seen in Alley kids. His cheek bones were sharp beneath the cowl—too sharp, gaunt, with a sickly pallor.
He looked infinitely young and centuries old all at once.
In a blink, the kid drawn a collapsable staff from his belt. With a simple click and flick of the wrist, it was full sized in his palm. He growled, voice deep and gravely, “Who are you?”
It was an obvious attempt at Batman’s only he hadn’t quite grown into it yet. It sounded forced and strained.
Jason’s eyes narrowed fingers hovering over the pistols strapped to his sides. There wasn't much ammo left in the clips after…after but enough to bring him down or get a head-start.
"Who the fuck are you?" Jason snapped back.
“I asked first.” The kid said flatly. Like that made a difference.
Jason rolled his eyes. God, did he wish he had his helmet now. Without something to hide behind, he felt over-exposed and raw. It felt like something was slithering under his “Not how this works, kid, I called dibs, so you go first. Who are you?”
The kid snorted, “Dibs? What are you, twelve?”
“You’re one to talk, you look twelve. Do your parents know you’re playing dress up at this time of night?” Based on the moon through the smog, he guessed it was close to midnight. “It’s no time for a kid to be out. Don’t you know the streets aren’t safe at night.” Not that they ever were.
“Well, I’m not. I can handle myself just fine, but thanks for your concern.” Sarcasm was heavy in his voice. “Who are you? Because you’re sure as hell not Jason.”
“Why don’t you fight me and find out? Or give up and I promise to make your death painless.” He smirked. “Probably.”

When Dick was fired and he went to live in Bludhaven, he didn't tell anyone where he was staying. He wasn't in contact with Bruce and Alfred and resigned himself to the fact that they didn't care about him as anything more than Robin.
Then one day, he got a package in the mail. It was on the anniversary of his parents' death. There was no note, nothing, but the address was written in a familiar script, all neat and small. But Bruce had no idea where he was, and he wouldn't send him anything anyways because he didn't care, right?
But the packages kept coming, more frequently each time. They weren't anything special, small trinkets- gag mugs, superman merch, chocolates, a coat in the winter for when it got cold, a new shirt etc. There was never a note or any indication of who the presents were from other than that same writing that Dick had seen for years.
He ignored it, the gifts were probably for someone who knew the old owner of the flat or from someone else who knew Dick. Nevermind that they were all things picked out as if especially for him, all his favorites, things that basic acquaintances wouldn't know about him. Nevermind that no one knows his address but there's one man in Gotham with the resources to find out. Nevermind that there was no one that Dick knew enough in Gotham that they would send him things. Nevermind that some of the gifts hinted at Robin, at Nightwing. Because it simply wasn't possible for Bruce to be the one sending these gifts. That would mean he cared, and he didn't. And if Dick ran to the door every time the mail was delivered and if he carefully kept each present safe, then no one had to know.
After a few months, there was another delivery. It was out of schedule. Usually B̶r̶u̶c̶e̶ the anonymous gifter sent their packages at the end of each week. But this came in the middle of the week, and was in an envelope instead of the usual box.
Instead of the handwriting that Dick had begun to expect on each package, there was a different one. Still familiar- though Dick was more used to seeing it on grocery lists rather than important documents, post it notes, and more recently bludhaven addresses- but the letters were written in cursive, swooping and flowing on the envelope.
He opened it up to find a letter. It was crumpled and had then been smoothed out, as though it wasn't meant to be sent. There were areas on the page where drops of water ('or were they tears?' Dick couldn't help but wonder silently) had smudged the ink.
On the page was the script that he knew, different from the envelope. It was addressed to him, saying the words that he had been longing to hear for months. Telling him how much he was cared for, how he would always have a home in Gotham. Telling him how proud he was of him, how much his parents would love to see him right now. Begging him to come home.
And Dick could no longer deny who the packages were from. Who the letter was from. Could no longer pretend Bruce hated him. How could he, when evidence to the contrary was staring right at him? When Bruce had been thinking of him and sending him things he knew he loved for months?
Dick went home that very evening, to go visit his dad. Things weren't fixed, and Dick wasn't moving back (at least not right away), but there was hope. And both of them were the happiest they had been since their fight.

Something else I love about fandom is that the people engaging with it are often more concerned about getting character development right than some of the people who are PAID to get character development right.
So you have some comic writers back 40 years ago who didn't like the Robin character, so they were like, "In my issue, Jason Todd is a bratty little fartface, who's gonna stop me?"
And others who loved the concept of Robin and went, "Jason is a GOOD CONSCIENTIOUS BOY and he's so cute with his lil curls, what a button."
And because both of those writers were official DC employees, both of those wildly different versions of the character are canon.
Fic writers and fans will look at that and go, "It's my job to merge those two seemingly-dichotomous Jasons into one. To flesh out the ways he can be both the brattiest most rebellious Robin AND also the best most studious and respectful one. It's my job to delicately fuse those traits together and make it believable."
And they will write an epic, incredible, 30,000+ word saga that does that beautifully and heart-breakingly and be paid in nothing but Kudos and reviews that say, "!!!!!!cryingscreamingthrowingup!!!"
TLDR:
Comic writers will use, "Because I'm the writer and I said so," to decimate decades of character truth and core principles.
Fans will use, "Because I said so," to make the character a mermaid who only speaks in whale sounds, but the characterization will be FLAWLESS.

If you haven't figured out why this place is called HYPRFXATN It's because I have adult money and my ADHD makes me have the self control of a herding dog. I bought more comics, but this time most of them are from the Teen Titans '03-'11 run (32 in total). There's also a Red Hood and The Outlaws, Robin Annual #1, the complete Robin III Cry of the Huntress, Batman #456 and year 3 #4, Young Justice #16 and Dark Crisis: Young Justice #2.

Jason’s reaction to Tim absolutely has parallels to dick’s reaction to Jason
Taking out his anger at bruce on the new child? While also being angry said child took up his former position?
Wonder where Jason learned that /sarcasm
(It’s not a perfect comparison but you gotta admit that it’s interesting)
