MK Characters Intro Banter With Monster Hunter Reader!
Tumblr media
In this scenario the Reader is a monster hunter from the Monster Hunter game franchise! I love, love, love MH, and I also love, love, love, MK! So why not bring them together!? Reader is gender neutral and is simply called 'hunter' in these.
Tags/warnings: Language, talk of violence (against people and animal-like monsters), Monster Hunter termanology and references, Reader is a funny monster hunting badass!
Characters: Liu Kang, Scorpion, Raiden, Johnny Cage.
Part 2 Part 3
Liu Kang
Tumblr media
You: "Y'know, I hunt dragons for a living."
Lui Kang: "Is that a threat, hunter?"
You: "Just a friendly heads up."
Liu Kang: "What are those blades made of?"
You: "My dual blades? These are made from the parts of Rathalos and Rathian I've hunted."
Liu Kang: "They are pulsing with both flame and poison..."
Liu Kang: "My dragon fire does not effect you nearly as much as others."
You: "These talismans aren't for show, Liu."
Liu Kang: "Let's see if I can't knock them off!"
You: "I'd love to see you get into a kick-off with a Seregios."
Liu Kang: "A Seregios? Another monster of yours?"
You: "Just imagine a golden parrot with knives for feathers. ...They also kick really hard."
Scorpion
Tumblr media
You: "Never thought I'd meet someone as angry as an Odogaron."
Scorpion: "My rage cannot ever be sated."
You: "I can't imagine how hard that is.."
Scorpion: "Have a taste of hellfire!"
You: "Please no, I've already hunted a Magnemalo today.. "
Scorpion: "I will prove a much bigger challenge."
You: "It feels odd fighting you."
Scorpion: "How so, hunter?"
You: "I only ever fight monsters. I feel I may go too hard on you."
Scorpion: "That longsword is impressive."
You: "Thanks! It's made from that Teostra you saw me hunting earlier!"
Scorpion: "You mean to tell me you successfully slayed that creature?!"
Raiden
Tumblr media
Raiden: "What are these Elder Dragons you speak of?"
You: "They are the scientifically unexplainable monsters that roam my world. I have fought and slain many."
Raiden: "Impressive. We could use your skills in defending Earthrealm."
You: "A Zinogre would be a good companion for you, Raiden."
Raiden: "I have no interest in pets."
You: "Not even a dragon dog with natural thunder abilities?"
Raiden: "I must admit, you are hard to strike with my lightening."
You: "I had to get good at dodging thunder attacks when a Kirin went berserk back home."
Raiden: "Your world has made you versatile indeed."
You: "Raiden, help me test out my new weapon!"
Raiden: "Are you welding an axe or a sword and shield?"
You: "Both, baby!"
Johnny Cage
Tumblr media
Johnny Cage: "Damn, you take hits like a tank!"
You: "Armor and food, Johnny. Armor and food."
Johnny Cage: "What are those cats feeding you!?"
You: "Ready to face the music, Johnny?"
Johnny Cage: "Wait, you mean that's not a hammer?!"
You: "I'm gonna play the Ninja Mime theme while bludgeoning you to the pavement!"
You: "No Johnny, you cannot pet the monster I captured."
Johnny Cage: "Why not? It's just a big turkey!"
You: "A Kulu-Ya-Ku is stronger than it looks!"
Johnny Cage: "You beat that poor thing to death!"
You: "Unfortunately, that Pukei-Pukei became to aggressive near my village. I had no choice."
Johnny Cage: "Well pookie-pookie didn't know what hit her.."
------
Hope ya liked these! I keep saying I'm gonna post write stuff here but never do lol
Here's the monsters mentioned in these interactions for those curious! I put them in a lil collage in the order that they were mentioned!

can you explain monster hunter frenzy virus and the magalas i saw you explain bazelgeuse i think
Bagel Goose is my baby, so I have a lot more to say about it. But frenzy is quite the interesting topic, so this will probably still be long.
The Frenzy virus is the main gimmick of Monster Hunter 4 and 4U. It is a condition that affects all kinds of animals, causing them to become stronger and more aggressive. Infected monsters will often appear to be dead briefly before seemingly reviving with a purple haze of frenzy cloaking them and often glowing purple parts (see the Zinogre comparison below). They become significantly more dangerous, not only due to their increased strength and viciousness, but because they are capable of further spreading the infection. The infection will eventually drain them of their stamina and kill them...unless (let's just put a bit in this for now)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But every virus has its origin, and this one comes from two species of monsters, or more accurately one. These are Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala, with Gore being the juvenile form of Shagaru. The dark Gore sheds its shell once matured and emerges as the brilliant Shagaru. Sadly, or thankfully as I will go into, most never reach that stage. While no pushover by any means, Gore Magala is not one of the true heavy hitters of the Monster Hunter wold. Many monsters are very capable of dealing with it quite easily, with the danger to itself being increased significantly due to infecting nearby monsters, and thus powering up and enraging them. But once fully grown into a Shagaru, there is little that can stop one.
In addition to the two main Magalas, there is a defect that can cause a Gore to stop mid molting into Shagaru. This leads to what is known as a Chaotic Gore Magala. It is not as strong as a Shagaru, but due to being in constant anguish they are much more aggressive, as if infected with Frenzy itself. And much like an infected monster, this form is unsustainable and will die on its own.
Here we have the different stages of a Magala life
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The infection itself originates from dust-like scales scattered from the wings of the Magalas. In addition to being physically stronger, faster, and more resilient than Gore, Shagaru's Frenzy is significantly more deadly that it's juvenile counterpart. It kills faster, makes infected monsters stronger, and spreads much further. A Gore or Chaotic on their own are living plagues, but Shagarus are threats to entire continents if allowed to continue living.
The coolest part about the Magalas is their implementation in the story of Monster Hunter 4. Gore is the flagship monster and Shagaru is the final boss of the base game. It's the only case where a Flagship becomes the Final boss by getting stronger. You face the same Gore throughout the game and it eventually molts into Shagaru, mirroring the increase in the hunter's gear. This is why a lot of people say 4 has the best story in the series.
But what about 4U? This is where we take out that pin from earlier, because frenzy doesn't always kill the monster it infects. If a monster is strong and lucky enough they can overcome the virus, permanently attaining a new state. These are known as Apex monsters (different from the Rise Apexes, that's was a weird translation thing). Apex monsters are just as aggressive and significantly stronger than infected individuals, and they have no risk of dying to the virus. A single Apex Seregios was enough to kick off a mass migration of other Seregios fleeing from it, leading to the story of 4U. The haze of Frenzy around an apex is stronger than around an infected monster along with glowing more. The real danger of Apexes is that not only are the handful of species able to attain this state some of the strongest creatures already, but that only the peak specimens survive. So some of the most dangerous threats can become even stronger (the infamous double Apex Rajang quest is proof of this)
And fun fact, when the hunter overcomes the Frenzy status they effectively become an Apex briefly; though likely due to our much smaller size the state does not last like with monsters that become Apexes.
That's been a brief look at the Frenzy Virus and the associated monsters. If that's all you're here for, you can go ahead and ignore the keep reading button. From here I'm going to go into a critique of Rise and Sunbreak as a followup, with Frenzy being a major example.
Frenzy is the kind of thing that inherently bends the entire ecosystem around it, thus implementing the Magalas into games without acknowledging it in the story is a very poor choice for the immersion of the world of Monster Hunter. Rise as a game was fun, but it failed to grab me in the same way the mainline titles have. It was mostly due to the fantastic combat and wonderful movement system making every fight feel incredibly similar due to Wirebugs lessening the need to learn a monsters move-set, since you could just dodge out of the way of almost everything.
But this lessened fight diversity also made the game feel less immersive. A monsters move-set is how you learn about them, and so being able to ignore much of it made me less connected to the monsters. This coupled with the realistic elemental attack effects being replaced with the (admittedly cool looking) new style and much faster start of hunt to fight time pulled me out of the game. But Rise isn't a mainline game, like Generations, so the lack of immersion in the visuals, combat, and world design aren't as big of a deal since that's not really what those titles tend to go for, even if it personally disappointed me.
But why attach this onto the Frenzy post instead of making this its own post. Because I can accept the previous immersion breaking things, but that immersion being broken in the narrative itself is where I draw the line. Sunbreak adds all three Magala forms to the roster, and they're kinda just...there. The narrative remains focused on the Quirio story, instead of the honestly much more dangerous threat of Frenzy . Gore alone could work, if it was noted to be a recently born individual who needs to be taken out as soon as possible to prevent an outbreak of Frenzy on top of the current threat.
BUT THE MERE EXISTENCE OF A SHAGARU IN THE AREA MEANS THERE SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN ONE!!!
The lack of acknowledgement for the entire point of these monsters in the narrative of Sunbreak fully broke what little immersion I had left for the game. Sunbreak was trying to be a narrative in line with the modern games, but this just ruined it for me. And then they added Chaotic. So not only are there multiple Magalas in the area already, there are enough for one to have had their molt interrupted.
And why were they brought back? Because they're super fucking cool and fan favorites. I get that Rise is a side game and isn't beholden to the same standards of environmental immersion as the mainline, but it's just...
It's just...so disappointing. After seeing the effects monsters outside the flagship and final boss can have on an ecosystem in World, Rise and Sunbreak were such massive letdowns.
Wilds seems to be doing a good job, even better than World, in implementing every monster into the environments. But after seeing Gore in the trailers, I'm worried that bringing back a fan favorite took priority over immersion. But I have trust in the mainline team's dedication to the worldbuilding and will wait to see how they deal with it as I go through the story...once they give the PC port the patches it desperately needs

Welcome to My Memories of Kumara AU RP blog!
What is Memories of Kumara:
Memories of Kumara is a Monster hunter stories AU i started with myself as an excuse to push a self-insert character & make Kumara (the character) be in romantic relationship with Cheval (boyfriends in short) because im a self-shipper (but don’t worry, both are the same age), in the AU theres also a lot of monster species that doesn’t exists in the monster hunter fandom, like Tempestorm Fenris, or Royal Hydras, or Astralbeasts, and all those
Who is Kumara:
Kumara is the main character of the story, he’s basically me but i got isekai’d and somehow started again as a few months old (the main story/stories 1 happens when Kumara’s 14) and i lost all my memories except how to speak & understand humans speech, (the story starts in the stories 1 main story and currently ends in some completely original arcs, btw) Kumara grew up in Hakum village with Cheval specifically (but he also hanged out with anyone who were Cheval’s friend), ever since their first meeting, Kumara loved Cheval the most, but after their fight with Makili Pietru? He fell IN LOVE with him, eventually they become boyfriends!
Who are the characters I’ll be roleplaying as:
I’ll be roleplaying as multiple characters from the AU, those are:
Kumara (mainly him, a purple Skyrim, alongside him his monsties travel with him, usually he uses Alder/his legendary dragon, Glypharion/a legendary dragon that is different from Alder, Soulver the silver Rathalos & Rephael the Razewing Rathalos)
Onyx (a tempestorm fenris/legendary wolf-like monster who is capable of human speech and can control the weather to his will)
Princy (a small & young hydra-like monstie/Prince hydra, he’s incapable of human speech & is very happy & oblivious due to him being young and currently not mature enough to understand the hardships of life)
Rage Blinded!Kumara (Kumara in his rage blinded form, he’s blinded by rage & is in constant anger which really hurts him both mentally and eventually physically)
Jadei (a short white & brown Luminell who is also a rider, she has a white & pink Seikret named Selene, a Rey Dau named Rey and a baby Celestavor named Lirai)
Hindriks (a tall plain brown Luminell who’s also a hunter, he has a Trans Female Palico named Tyson and a smoke-colored Palamute named Smoky-Muri)
Alter-Kumara (Kumara’s alter form, his colors are all different types of grey, his eyes becomes red, his clothes & tail-rings change colors too, he has only 1 monstie, Goldy the Golden Retriever, Alter Kumara is the complete opposite of Kumara, he’s selfish, egoistic, mean and he thinks having friends is for weak people, he only likes Goldy)
Javon (Javon is a very young blue Skyrim, he’s Kumara’s adopted child, Javon’s body is completely natural and unmodified, but he’s less developed than Kumara Intelligence-wise, since Kumara literally has a modified brain)
Rephael (Razewing Ratha of this AU)
Soulver (one-eyed ratha of this AU, he’s a silver Rathalos)
Lute (Lute, unlike in the anime, is NOT the main character, he instead gets the role of a character who’s friends with the main character but isn’t the main, he’s also a rider, his monstie is a Seregios named Sergeant, in postgame he also has a red & gray Astralbeast, he’s also a Shapeshifter and he has a younger sister named Sophie)
Sophie (Sophie is Lute’s younger sister, she’s a Shapeshifter as well, she’s a rider, she has an Azure Rathalos named Azulo and a grey & green Astralbeast)

Note
I can only imagine the chaos of the Tachikawa Base attack, the Third Division being heavily outnumbered. Backs aganist the wall, Hoshina busy trying to kill Kaiju No. 10, leaving the new recruits to defend the base aganist dozens of Wyvern Kaiju. Only for 3 Wyvern Kaiju to go down spike's impaling there cores, only for it to be followed by the roar of Nergigante, Wyvern Kaiju stuck in burning mud pits getting dragged down by Almudron, A heavy roar echoing out causing the Wyverns to real back in pain, just to get tackled by a raging Tigrex, Wyverns unable to keep their footing as high powered water jets rip through them from an angry Mizutsune, Wyverns dropping from the sky littered with uber sharp scales from Seregios, and Ratholos and Rider shooting fireballs at Wyverns in the air and on the land.
Back up the Force definitely weren't expecting
You have no idea how fast Rider and their Monsties were on the scene. Houdini is nearby as he will act like a smokescreen for them to escape once things finish up. Baby Chameleos produce a lot more denser mist than adults so they can flee better since their venom isn't that strong.
Rider definitely uses a Kinship attack to help with the final push as well.

Apologies about the late response, was very busy yesterday. You're getting the short version (aka one monster). So let me tell you about the Bagel Goose itself, my beautiful baby B-52 bomber boy Bazelgeuse
So, the first thing to understand about Monster Hunter as a series is that the designs of the main series monsters are built to be fictionally realistic. They would not work within the confines of our world, but within the world there are explanations for everything that aren't just "it's fiction so it works" (e.g. elemental powers come from specifically designated organs)
This brings us the subject of my ramblings, my favorite monster, Bazelgeuse.
Tumblr media
Introduced in Monster Hunter Wold, Bazelgeuse is what is known as a flying wyvern, other examples being the series mascot Rathalos, Seregios, and Tigrex. These creatures are defined by their two legs and two wings. Ironically, the ability to fly is actually not required for this categorization, with around half of flying wyverns being able to barely fly at best and several even being fully grounded.
While Bazelgeuse can fly, it is by far the largest and heaviest of the true flying wyverns (not actually the largest flying creature, but Gogmazios is a whole different story). It is nowhere near the most agile flier, effectively only using it too gain altitude from which to glide. For this reason it prefers to nest at high points of a region in order to more effectively survey the area and glide out from that point without expending much energy.
This complements its main ability quite well, which comes in the form of those glowing pine cone things on its chest and tail, called blasting scales despite not being scales. Bazelgeuses chest and the bottom of its tail are covered in glands that secrete a form of blast fluid. This fluid solidifies quickly into the droplet shape we see. These are normally black in color (as seen bellow), but once detached from the Bazelgeuse they will slowly begin to heat up and glow before exploding. They will also detonate if anything collides with them. If Bazelgeuse becomes enraged or simply beings to enjoy the fight it is having, its internal temperature will increase drastically. This is what causes the glowing seen in the first image. In this state the Bazelgeuse's blasting scales detonate quicker and generate larger explosions.
Tumblr media
As the blasting scales aren't tightly attached to the monster, they will fly off occasionally as it moves and attacks. But the primary ways Bazelgeuses use them are as a deliberate weapon for attack or area denial. For attack, Bazelgeuse will rear up over its target, scattering the scales over them and the surrounding area, before slamming down on them, detonating the scales and dealing heavy damage to its target. For area denial, Bazelgeuse will fly up and begin gliding over the fight, shaking to scatter scales over the entire area. It will then occasionally also crash into the ground, generating a massive field of explosions as all the scales trigger each other in a chain reaction. These tactics are generally enough to finish off or scare away most monsters.
As you may have noted, Bazleguese has to tank a lot of its own explosions for this combat style. In order to do so, it has an incredibly tough hide. All but the most powerful attacks simply bounce off it. This is why it is so heavy and less agile when compared to its other flying wyvern cousins. The scales on its back, head, and tail are strong enough to be used as bludgeoning weapons. Its roar sounds like an air-raid siren and can stun most smaller creatures with its volume, though this is less a direct attack like with certain other monsters and more just a show of force. Bazelgeuse can also use its legs and wings to attack, but these are less effective.
Finally in Bazleguese's arsenal is a short-range fire blast that it can shoot from its mouth, usually used to heat up its blasting scales for quicker detonation. This is not actually a true fire breath, as Bazelgeuse does not have the flame sac organ that allows other monsters to breathe fire. Instead, Bazelgeuse uses some of the fluid that solidifies into the blasting scales to generate a small explosion in its mouth which shoots out as a brief gout of flame. Now that we have discussed Bazelgeuse's basic abilities, lets get into its behavior.
Bazelgeuse is highly aggressive and views the everything it can see as its territory, regardless of what the ecosystem is actually like. And given that they tend to live in high places, they can see a lot. This leads to Bazelgeuse being found in all environments. Any monster in that territory is an intruder, and thus Bazelgeuses will glide out and attack, generally by diving in from the sky and crashing into them with a massive explosion in order to end the fight quickly or send the "invader" fleeing in terror. Very few monsters will stick around long if a Bazelgeuse is present; even some of the less powerful elder dragons, a category of monster defined by immense, often almost magical, power and inability to be classified under the standard categories, will lose to a Bazelgeuse in a fight.
However, if resistance is put up, Bazelgeuse will generally have no trouble in the fight. In fact, it seems to enjoy combat, indicated by its glow. One of the more infamous match-ups is against Deviljho, a similarly invading monster of comparable strength. While Deviljho is more physically impressive, being a monster of almost pure muscle and immense bulk, Bazelgeuse's blasting scales let it deal out comparable damage while being arguably tankier due to its thick hide. This is a generally even fight, with both species fleeing the battle at even rates. Check out this video for the in-game turf war version of this clash.
youtube
In-game this behavior is represented by Bazelgeuse being what is known colloquially as an invader. These monsters can appear in any environment and are usually not listed on the quest details before a hunt, with their theme music overtaking whatever was playing before. Bazelgeuse itself will make its presence known by slamming into the fight you're having at high-speed with a boom. The main target of the hunt will usually flee at this point, unless the hunter uses a dung pod to force the Bazelgeuse to move to a different area of the map. In the above video you can see its shadow, which is generally the only indication you will have that a dive-bomb is imminent, not present in this case due to the turf war.
With use of its explosions and sheer bulk, any kills Bazelgeuse makes are easy to defend form and scavenger monsters that would like to steal them, such as Odogoron or the afore mentioned Deviljho, which despite having no problems making kills itself is constantly hungry due to immense energy consumption and will try to take any kills it runs across.
In fact, some researchers have theorized Bazelgeuse may participate in scavenging itself if it feels the need. The ability to scatter blasting scales from the sky gives in a perfect tool for scaring off the monster that originally made the kill. And while the blasts may damage the carcass somewhat, the only monsters that would even require that tactic to scare off are likely hunting large enough prey that a stray scale or two will not do too much damage.
So, Bazelgeuse is a wide-ranging, immensely powerful invader that can strike basically anywhere with little warning that also will just randomly drop a bomb or two unintentionally on whatever is below it as flies. A formidable combatant that any hunter would be more than proud of the ability to take down. So anyways there's a stronger subspecies. This is Seething Bazelgeuse
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In contrast to the standard Bazelgeuse, Seething is not an invader. They stick to their home turf in the Elders Recess. This volcanic region is home to the strongest monsters in the New World, with many elder dragons being found in the region. Due to the increased competition, Seething's hide is tougher and its attacks far more devastating.
The blasting scales created by Seething are not made of the standard blasting fluid, but a substance unique to it known as distilled blast fluid. This subspecies always has scales ready to burst, leading to much quicker detonation upon deployment. Additionally, these scales have a bluish tint, like the monster itself (I will go into some speculation about this later).
As the fight goes on these scales and resulting explosions get stronger and larger. Once amped up enough they turn purple, and instead of detonating normally expand outwards quickly into an even more massive blast. This culminates in an attack not seen in the Seething Bazelgeuse's strongest attack, where it spirals upwards spreading its scales in a circular perimeter to trap its oponent before crashing straight into the center in a beautiful mushroom cloud.
Tumblr media
The only other major thing of note to Seething compared to the standard Bazelgeuse is its color. This is just speculation, and I wasn't even the first to think of it, but Seething Bazelgeuse's blue color may be due to its connection to stars.
Bazelgeuse is very obviously named after Betelgeuse. A massive star nearing the end of its life, predicted to go supernove sometime within the next few hundred thousand years. Betelgeuse is a red giant, connecting to the red orange color of standard Bazelgeuse's glow and scales when they detonate. So why is Seething blue and purple? Blue stars are brighter, output more energy, and have much shorter lifespans than their orange counterparts due to consuming fuel so fast. Similarly, Seething's blast scales detonate faster and with more force than their standard counterparts, so the bluish purple may be a reference to this difference in star type. But once again, that's pure speculation.
So that was an overview of the objectively best monster (hunting horns at sundown and I won't need backup). I don't have this much to say about every monster, but most do have a ton of lore and ecology that can be dug into. The series, World especially, is focused on how the monsters interact with the world around them. It's truly a marvel of ecosystem design that these massive fictional beasts fit into their environment so well. I cannot wait for Wilds, since it seems to be treading similar tracks to World in this regard.
Also, check out Bazelgeuse's theme song, very good. Imagine this playing out of nowhere in the middle of your hunt as this beautiful creature dives into you or the monster you're fighting from the sky

Got my first High Rank monster in MHST just now <3
I’m naming him Splinter ^_^
Lil story behind it... I stepped outside of the starting village with my lv32 Crimson Qurupeco, and decided to summon a monster. A seregios proceeds to answer the call and wrecks me and my lv 53 garuga very badly. I just barely manage to win, and as an added bonus the Seregios flees back to its lair, which of course means a free egg for me! And thus, I obtained my very own seregios and first HR-monster of the playthrough~

Fic Prompts: Free Day Thursday
Been playing a lot of Monster Hunter Stories lately, so I'm dipping back into my bnha Monster Hunter au where All Might inadvertently ends up fostering Izuku after he gets separated from his mother during a storm. (Inko has all the big adventures in that au: meeting Rei Todoroki, accidentally starting a Palico rebellion, smuggling Rei and her four children out of the city of Endeavor, etc. Meanwhile All Might just tries his best to find her based solely off a kindergartner's description lol)
Toshinori stepped into the public stables and scanned the stalls. Most of them were occupied by Aptonoths and Velocidromes, cooped up for the night on the carnivore and herbivore sides of the barn. A grouchy Yian Kut-Ku glared at him as he passed, then tucked its head back beneath its wing as if deciding that the tall human wasn't worth bothering about.
In the stalls used by Riders without their own stables, diurnal monsties slept. Night patrols were usually taken with the Nargacuga native to the hilly region between Septimus Reach and Hakum Village, or the occasional Rathalos. Most Riders in the village preferred smaller and more manageable mounts, especially given the sheer amount of food a full grown Rathalos needed in one day alone, so there were really only two other Raths in the public stables. One ancient Rathalos named Red who spent his days sleeping, and a newly hatched Rathian that had bonded with one of the Rider trainees. Both of them were out, suggesting that they were training or flying with their Riders at the moment.
Toshinori stopped in front of a wide stall, filled with mossy stones and odd crystal growths. He smirked and checked the tag on the stall door. As he'd thought, this was Midnight's stall. If Midnight was here, that meant her Rider, Nemuri, wasn't on any missions at the moment.
One of the mossy boulders rose, and a pair of confused yellow eyes blinked at Toshinori slowly. Then, with a rumbling crash, the ground heaved and the disparate boulders revealed themselves to all be part of the same animal. The Ruby Basarios shook hay from it's back and yawned.
"Hey there, Midnight." Toshinori patted the wyvern's jaw. "You feel up for some exercise? Because I'm going to ask your Rider if she wants to help me on a mission."
Midnight blinked owlishly at him. Well, she never did pay much attention to anyone who wasn't Nemuri.
Nemuri Kayama was a younger Rider than Toshinori, but she already had a reputation for her "one monstie only" style. She loved her Ruby Basarios, and had used her old, shed carapaces to make an armor that could emit a kind of sleep gas when struck or burned. Nemuri used that feature liberally.
Toshinori found her in the canteen, looking bored out of her mind. He waited until she noticed him, then sat down next to her.
"Hey, Yagi." Midnight sipped from a clay bottle and raised her brows. "I thought you were on baby patrol or something."
Toshinori made a sheepish face and shrugged. "Ah. Yeah, no, the kid is having a sleepover with the Kirishima family tonight so I can work."
"You think you'll ever find his mom?"
That was a difficult question. Toshinori folded his hands and looked down. "I think so, yes, but...I'm just not sure how long it will take in the end."
Nemuri nodded, then set down the bottle. She leaned an elbow on the table and eyed Toshinori shrewdly. "So what sort of job has you leaving after sundown?"
Toshinori nodded in the direction of the valley. "Next hollow over, word is there's a Seregios attacking travelers on the borders of the Whistill Forest. The chief of Hakum asked that the Seregios be captured alive if possible."
He glanced back and met the younger Rider's eyes. "I thought you and Midnight might be interested in helping subdue the monster for study and relocation."
Nemuri's eyes glittered. "I want three Impaler scales as payment."
A bit of a hard bargain, but Toshinori would take it. He reached out to shake Nemuri's hand. "Deal. Let me check on little Midoriya, and saddle Regent, and I'll meet you on the slopes in an hour."
He hoped the Seregios would be alone. Two of them sounded like a lot to handle, even for a Rathalos and a Basarios.

Note
yakuza for the ask meme. or monster hunter (‘characters’ can be looser lol)
Doing this with monster hunter is kinda breaking my brain in a very good way so I will absolutely go with this one
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)
GOGMAZIOS, VALSTRAX, SEREGIOS, SHAGARU MAGALA, ANJANATH, LEGIANA AND ZAMTRIOS, THE GANG
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped)
First is "Canonically Baby" Gore Magala, Chameleos, Tobi Kadachi, Glavenus, Astalos and beloved Brachydios
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)
A N J A N A T H
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
When will Great Jaggi finally return to us......
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave)
TIGREX, BRUTE TIGREX AND KUSHALA DAORA
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)
Rajang, Basarios and Gravios, Congalala. BUT ESPECIALLY MIZUTSUNE
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell)
Diablos.

Fun question for ya. If you had to choose one monster that hasn't returned in a long time. Who would you choose and why?
Oh that’s a good one.
I’ve mentioned wanting Seregios back a few times, even Bloodbath Diablos (assuming they’d want to work with deviants again), but I think I’d like to see Agnaktor make a return as well. I like it! It’s a fun fight and I did like it’s weapon and armor designs. Plus with the new ability to inflict blights on monsters like water blight, dealing with it’s hardening magma would make it even better.
Plus I just want to see it’s babies again, the little clack clacks~ ♥
