Li Jing Character Analysis
Because with season 5 now out, I can FINALLY DO THIS!!!
HIDDEN UNDER THE CUT FOR SPOILERS!!!!!
Who is Li Jing?
Li Jing is known as the Pagoda Bearing Heavenly King, and is the father of Nezha, as well as Jinzha and Muzha.
He’s very serious about his job, practically married to it, despite canonically having a wife in JTTW.
Li Jing is practically married to his job, he takes it very seriously to the point where he neglects his family. This especially comes to a head when the Azure killed the Jade Emperor and the universe began tearing apart, we find out that Li Jing was temporarily put in charge of Heaven. He takes this very seriously, and because of Wukong’s involvement in pretty much every world ending event that’s happened thus far (especially the event that got the Jade Emperor killed in the FIRST PLACE, having used to be part of the brotherhood who plotted it and all that), he punishes Wukong. This in turn, doesn’t make him a bad person, he’s just exacting punishment on the three he believes was the most involved in said world ending events to prevent them from causing more chaos and harm than has already been done.
However, this doesn’t mean that he’s completely heartless. As seen in season 5, around the end, Li Jing finally shows an emotion that isn’t just him being on a warpath to capture back MK, Wukong and Macaque, which is him smiling at his son and telling him he’s proud. This is a big moment, especially since he comes off as closed off/secluded about his emotions towards others. He’s more of the silent approval/pride type rather than displaying said emotions outwardly, much like DBK with Red Son.
I feel like, because of this disconnect (him having a family but is a workaholic), he doesn’t exactly mesh well with his family, especially Nezha, thus he doesn’t know how to act around him aside from his whole “Pagoda Bearing” personality, so he takes on a serious, almost harsh role around his son while on duty (which is pretty much ALL THE TIME).
So TLDR; Li Jing is a workaholic, emotionally constipated, stressed mess of a man who has no idea how to interact with his kids and separate his work life from his family life.

Manjushri treating Azure like he’s an annoying not neutered Tom cat is so funny to me
I can imagine him dropping off the sixth century China equivalent of baby cat food to the tiger monk cubs as child support on Azures behalf (Azure was unaware he was doing this)
Guanyin be like:
Tumblr media
Manjushri holding Azure by the scruff like his a housecat, apologising profusely. They manifest at Lion Camel Ridge the very moment news of the Golden Cicada-turned-Tiger demon's cubs gets back to them. The location and species of the kittens sends them into a panic, espevially when they notice their celestial steed/diciple getting cozy with the parent!
Manjushri: "Oh gracious Buddha! I am so sorry Tang Monk. Though he showed no desire for the human women at Wuji, he is a tomcat at heart. I apologise if he's the one responsible for your litter!"
Tiger!Tripitaka, confused & holding the cubs: "Uh... ok?? He wasn't entirely responsible for their creation, but he did incidentally donate some life energy."
Manjushri, relieved: "Ah. So he is not at fault for seeding the earth as it's said? I still offer many blessings of health and joy to your family. I pray to see them grow into fine spirits."
Manjushri, whispering to Azure: "See? This, is exactly why I tried to have your neutered!"
Azure: (*upset housecat noises!*)
Wukong & the Pilgrims: (*trying their best not to burst out laughing*)
Peng & Yellow Tusk: (*also trying not to laugh, but a little scared in case other buddhist masters are nearby*)
The three tiger (maybe a liger?) cubs sleep through the whole interaction.
Guanyin smugly passes Tripitaka the regular "child support" payment of kitten food and wash cloths from Manjushri long after the cubs are weaned.

I wanted to talk about this because it's been on my mind since I finished season 4
The way peaches represent Sun Wukong and Macaque's relationship. When they're happy in Flower Fruit Mountain, just the two of them — no brotherhood, no Jade Emperor (along with the entirety of Heaven), no journey to the West —, Sun Wukong gives Macaque a peach.
It doesn't look like much. SWK eats peaches all the time and his mountain is filled with them (seriously, is that all he eats? He really, really really loves peaches, man. How does he not get tired of them? I'd get grossed out after the first few months), of course he'd give one to his best friend! His most loyal subject!
In this scene, they're comfortable with each other. SWK talks about how what he wants is to live a lazy life with him and his monkeys, just chilling and eating peaches and basking in the sun? I can't remember exactly what he said but the point is, that he wants things to stay like that forever. Just the two of them (along with a thousand monkeys), living happily in a mountain with SWK being strong enough to protect all of them
SWK gives Macaque a peach. Macaque accepts it; the peach is fine. They're good.
The next time we see one of them give the other a peach is during another flashback, the one where SWK and Macaque are talking while Sun Wukong is sealed under the mountain (the position he was in looked so uncomfortable? He wasn't laying on his belly with the mountain on his back, he looked like he was trying to run away before he got caught with the mountain on his back), and they are definitely not good then
Macaque offers Sun Wukong a peach (read; Macaque offers Sun Wukong a peach, when Wukong was the one to offer one to Macaque before. The sun gives the moon its light, but the moon can't offer anything to it in return) and Sun Wukong acts passive aggressive with him, leaving it clear that no, Mac, he doesn't want that fucking peach (well, maybe he does, but we'll get to that later)
They're both in the right here, but they're also both in the wrong. Macaque is right for being angry at Sun Wukong. If he hadn't followed Azure's plan (he [Azure] was so fucking grooming that monkey, what the fuck. Not sexual btw), the brotherhood would've been fine, and Sun Wukong wouldn't be trapped under the mountain. However, Sun Wukong is also allowed to be angry at Macaque; from his POV, Macaque ran away from the fight when he realized they were losing. Macaque pretty much abandoned him first. I'd be angry too, honestly
Macaque is wrong for telling Sun Wukong that he's the one that got himself in that mess when really, that was partly Azure's fault. Weren't it for him Sun Wukong apparently wouldn't have cared about Heaven, since unlike what happens in JTTW (haven't read it yet, pls tell me if I'm wrong!), all he wanted was to live a comfortable life and train his troops (Azure was the one who saw him first; he found this... child? And thought that yeah, he can use this. He put him in a pedestal and showered him in compliments he didn't deserve nor want. He manipulated him to get what he wanted; not a king, but a weapon)
Sun Wukong is in the wrong for treating Macaque like shit here too, since he literally warned him and again, he wasn't at fault. Neither of them were!
Back to the point — in this scene, when Sun Wukong rejects the peach, Macaque crushes it with his hand. Later, after Macaque leaves, Sun Wukong expresses how he actually really wanted that peach. Or, in other words, Macaque tries to offer Sun Wukong his support, his friendship, and when Sun Wukong rejects it, he gives up and destroys any way of getting back together; later, it is revealed that Sun Wukong didn't genuinely want to be left alone, and that he did still wish to be friends, in a way
This, we can say is the point where their relationship was broken. The peach is left on the floor, abandoned, and Sun Wukong with it. As far as we know, Macaque didn't come back after, and even if he did it's pretty obvious that wouldn't have gone very well
(Also, just to add, and you can skip this part if you want! When Macaque is looking at the memory, he looks kinda confused? Like he doesn't remember it happening that way. Maybe that's one of the LBD messed with when she brought him back, if she even was touching them. I'm not sure if that's canon, I forgot. Please tell me if you know?)
The next and last time one of them offers the other a peach it's, again, Sun Wukong to Macaque (it's almost like that's the way it's meant to be. Huh. Sun and moon indeed haha!)
They're in a beach again! Yay! Sun Wukong's (and possibly Macaque's later, if he gets a proper redemption arc) friends and family (MK and the gang, and also the DBK fam) are there too. Sun Wukong is watching them in the sun (lol) when Macaque goes and joins him. He doesn't even go there to annoy him and as far as we know he didn't even get an invite, so he really just went to the event to chill with SWK. During this whole scene, we can see that Macaque isn't interested in starting a fight (fucking finally, man), even if Sun Wukong does act kinda aggressive at first. Which, y'know. Fair
They're in a beach again. Presumably not the same one, but still a beach. They're back to the beginning, but not really, because they're both different people. They've changed, and their relationship(s) with them
This time, it's not an actual peach being offered. It's a peach popsicle. I don't know how to spell that. Sun Wukong offers it to Macaque, and Macaque looks surprised but eventually accepts it. He appears to be happy with this
This I believe represents how they're both willing to begin a new relationship (platonic, romantic or something else, see it as you want). A new relationship; a changed one
Sun Wukong doesn't give Macaque an actual peach, he gives him a peach popsicle. He's offering his friendship, an offering Macaque accepts, but it's not the same it was before, and it never will be. They know they'll never be the way they were in the past, and they accept it. Sun Wukong offers Macaque his friendship, telling him that it won't be the same, but that if they want to heal then they've got to accept that — and Macaque takes it. It's not the same, there are mistakes that can never be fixed and actions that can't be undone, but they're willing to start anew
It'll be different, but it could be even better if they try (if they fucking COMMUNICATE for once)
And the popsicle will eventually melt. They'll eventually fight again; they'll fall apart, and maybe get so angry at each other they'll refuse to talk to each other for a while (y'know how stubborn they can be), but (usually depending on where you live) popsicles can be surprisingly cheap!
If the popsicle melts, if they struggle, they'll just buy another one, they'll just keep trying
Now all we need is a scene where Sun Wukong (or Macaque, to show them as equals if not in power then in... y'know, their relationship? I'm not sure what the word would be) gives Macaque an actual peach to show how they're them again. Not the same, never the same, but still them

(Don’t worry I will give context on this image here) WARNING MENTION OF DARK TOPICS
I wanted to vent about shadowpeach shippers again cause like
I don’t think anyone understands how fucking toxic shadowpeach shippers are me and my friends met like really shitty ones and I seen how like they attack people who don’t even like shadowpeach
hell half of them literally mischaracterize azure to be a fucking assaulter!
how do I know this? i one time went to look up azure lion fanfics When season 4 came out cause he is one of my favorites and literally so many fanfics have him tagged as a assaulter or a stalker like
I’m sorry excuse the hell out of me?! and even when people who are actually from china go to talk about how like they are very uncomfortable with shadowpeach especially when smut is being made by the two of them shadowpeach fans literally send them hate and threats and shit!
and this one is basically a story time
One time as I was scrolling threw TikTok A person was like crying about how they fear of wukong and macaque being brothers (despite in canon they share the same dna) shadowpeach fans literally said how they would make a fucking au where they weren’t brothers or hell they would still fucking ship them EVEN IF IT WAS CONFRIMED DESPITE IT IS BEING CONFIRMED
and guess what? THE CREATOR OF THE FUCKING VIDEO AGREES WITH THEM
LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
like you don’t say that! Admitting that! Honestly it makes fear more Especially since the creators and macaques va repost shadowpeach shit
it makes me tired of being in this fandom I swear-
like I am at a point of taking a break cause of how toxic the lmk fans are people say they aren’t toxic and as a lmk fan they really are like
i could go all day writing a hour long rant about what makes me frustrated in this fandom but I don’t have the patience or want to deal with backlash
and I feel so embarrassed that lmk fans especially shadowpeach would literally gets so pissy when someone doesn’t ship what they ship
Anyways I’ll be off
please be safe out there everyone

Slight spoilers for LMK season 5 ig but I have to rant;
Do you think the whole chaos/order thing going on in that season (& likely continuing into the next season) means the Chinese god of primordial chaos (the same kind of chaos NHD was talking about on the last ep of the season) Hundun might make an appearance & possibly be the higher power pulling the strings we kept getting hints to in season 5? Does that mean he would be a sort of narrative foil to Nuwa (who obviously represents the side of order), like different ‘solutions’ to the same ‘problem’?
Do you think Wukong & Macaque are meant to represent the imbalance of the universe in a VERY literal sense? Like, Wukong came into existence just to cause chaos in a too organized world while Macaque came into existence to measure out Wukong’s chaos? I know MK is called ‘The Harbinger of Chaos’, but Wukong also used to be ‘The Havoc of Heaven’ which are definitely VERY close descriptors. I mean, the Heavenly kingdom is very clearly representing itself as the deciding body of order in LMK, but it’s also clear that have little to ZERO clue what they’re actually doing (Li Jing) and/or don’t have the real power to decide anything about the balance even if they want to (Nezha & Azure Lion).
Is MK really the harbinger of chaos, or is he just the warning everyone kept ignoring until the problem exploded right in front of them? Does MK even fully understand the power this forced title holds? How he is part of the weight that balances a scale before it falls over itself? Did Wukong ever understand his own similar title?
I fear Macaque is right; they really are a bit too alike for comfort. Maybe the loss of Macaque (as the orderly counterpart to Wukong) meant that chaos could completely fly off the handle and throw the world into the ‘early restart’ Nuwa mentioned? Does that mean there could be another celestial monkey we’ll get to meet that becomes the new representation of order to act as a narrative foil for MK (like LBD used to be)? Is there already another monkey of order out there?
Will the sun and the moon clash again? Will the consequences be the same (history repeats itself) or will they be far more dire (history learns from itself)?
Will the cycle never end as long as someone who thinks they know better than the universe remains in power?

LMK Mini Fic — Lionsword
(Tw minor swearing and mentions of implied intimacy)
“You know, kitten is just the Cat term for baby. So Azure is literally calling you babe.”
Mei is a menace, is the conclusion that Jing comes to. It’s after the battle against The Nine Tailed Vixon (aka Jin and Yin’s mom)
-and honestly, Li Jing wished he’d just gone home. But the Monkie kid had insisted they all share an after battle victory lunch. Jing didn’t have the heart to say no, especially when he noticed the way Nezha’s eyes brightened. He was trying to be better, so he had reluctantly agreed. Now he was very much regretting it.
“And this is relevant to me, because…?”
Mei grinned, and happily sat down next to him at the bar. “Sooooo, what do you call him?”
That caught some attention, and a certain six-eared snitch leaned over across from where nezha was seated at Jing’s right.
“Yes Jing, what do you call Azure?”
Jing gave another sigh, and set his chopsticks on his now empty bowl. The food was good, and Nezha was looking at him both wearily and curiously, so maybe he could humor them just a little.
“For your information, I call him by his name.”
They both rolled their eyes, and Wukong casually popped up behind him. Wait- oh no, he’s surrounded. He shouldn’t have entertained this!
“Come ooooon Jing’s! Surely you got a cute nickname for your pretty lion!”
“Well, I’m sorry to disappoint.”
Mei hummed, and then grinned. “Well, then we’ll help you come up with one!”
Fuck.
“That won’t be necessary. Azure and I are fine.”
“Nope!”
“Oh this is gonna be good.”
Jing just sighed, and watched Nezha out the corner of his eye. The prince was currently engaged in conversation with the monkey boy, who was behind the counter. Jing allowed him to take his empty bowl, Nezha doing the same. At least one of them was having fun.
“Oh! I know!” Jing suppressed a groan, and turned to look at Mei with a single brow raised. “How about… whiskers!”
A beat of silence followed, before Jing have a small chuckle. “He doesn’t have whiskers.”
“What?! Come on what cat doesn’t have whiskers-!”
“Ok, my turn.” The dark monkeys smirk did not inspire confidence, and Jing did not trust him in the slightest. He was the one who told everyone in the first place, so who knows what kind of history he’d put into—
“How about Eggless?” A moment of silence again. The others looked confused, but Jing just gave Macaque his best unimpressed look. It didn’t work, by the way Macaques grin free. It seemed to click for Wukong, and he started outright laughing. The others still seemed confused.
“Why??” Came MKs confused question. Did they not- oh heavens Jing wanted to just melt into the floor and die. He did not meet Nezha’s curious gaze, nor Mei’s prodding. Macaque, the bastard, just cackled.
“Let’s just say there’s a reason Jing likely never got pregnant.”
Jing, Mk and Mei turned to Macaque, their eyes wide and baffled. Nezha himself just cringed, realizing what direction the topic was going towards.
“Wait- but- he’s a guy??” Macaque patting MK’s head with a smile, ruffling his hair.
“Celestials and demons work differently than human mortals. Yes, he absolutely could have.”
There was a long silence, and Jing just stared at Macaque with growing horror. Macaque seemed to sense it, and he actually looked concerned now, as did Wukong.
“Wait, Jing, you are aware of that little tidbit, right?”
“I- I was born human though-“
“But now you’re a celestial, it changed your biology…. Jing, you knew pregnancy was a possibility right?”
Jings silence said it all. Mei tried to break the tensions with an akward laugh, putting an arm around him casually. “Well, now at least we know azure can’t do it…. Right?”
“I’ve heard of people who get suprise babies even after vasectomies, so it’s not unheard of.”A certain chef walked by, sharing that little tidbit before yelling at mk to get back to work. As everyone sorta scatter, Jing was left with his thoughts. And Nezha. He just stared at the table, realizing now the absolute disaster he likely avoided all this time.
“Father?” Nezha managed to get Jing attention, and he looked concerned. “Even if it was possible, you took precautions right?”
“Nezha-“ Jing tried to quickly hush him, but it was too late.
“You did use protection right?” Nezha’s face was red just by action, but he seemed determined to get an answer. Unfortunately for poor Nezha, the way Jing hid his face in his hands said otherwise.
“Father!”

A scream erupts from your throat as you ran into the forest, hearing your aggressor chase after you as he chases you not too far behind; Your legs wanted to give up, your throat hurts and you were tired but your adrenaline refused to weaken the closer Azure got. His claws almost caught the collar of your shirt hadn't you jumped over the ditch.
As soon as you took a break you whip your neck around to get a good look at him, his eyes glowing and baring teeth sharper than knives as he backs away. Giving you time to take a breather before sitting down on a log nearby; Your clothes are torn and tattered with blood, sweat, and dirt.
Until you heard a thud and saw his glowing pink eyes make eye contact with you.
You attempt to run but are immediately yanked back onto the cold dirt. Your pupils dilated and your heart pulsed faster when he lets out a low growl as he gets to your eye level and puts his head on your neck, taking in your scent and purring against your chest; You were confused but grateful he had the mercy to not kill you when you scratch his ears.
His large claws held onto your chubby waist and tear away at your already torn-up robes, his claws digging slightly and leaving a possible bruise on your thighs; His frame towered over you, making you seem small underneath him as he blows smoke from his nose.
It was terrifying how you could barely see his body, only his glowing eyes told you where he could be looking as his claw cupped one of your breasts. Gently pulling off your panties and kissing your legs as he held them over his shoulder; Pressing his tongue against your clit and staring into your eyes before as a purr left his throat.
Your fingers were lost in his mane as you saw black spots for in your eyes, muttering out curses under your breath and begging for a release when his tongue entered your pussy. Slick and drool seeping from his lips and between your thighs onto his lap before pulling away and kissing your clit.
Azure pumps his cock a few times before guiding your hips to his, applying pressure against your walls with his cock as he enters slowly. Your small chubby hands would dig into his arms when the tip pressed against your cervix's entrance.
His claws held onto your waist as he starts off slowly, closing his eyes as you kiss his forehead when your gentle hands pet his ears; Your moans fueling him on to go faster as his claws dig tighter into your skin, possibly leaving marks.
"There there, it's ok, I'm here" You hiss as he pressed his head on your neck, his claws unrelenting and almost tearing your skin before gently holding onto his hand to relax. Breathing out the air you unconsciously held in once he stops, purrs escaping his throat the more you keep rubbing his ears and chin.
Azure turns you over and continues his quickened pace, groans and whines emitted from his throat as you saw stars before he pulls you by your hair to his chest. Chuckling as hearts formed in his eyes the longer he stares at your smaller figure, knowing fully well that if you both wanted to he would give you babies.
The repeated sounds of slapping also drew attention to you, as two more celestials were nearby when they heard your ruckus and set out to look for the perpetrators that were keeping them up so late; Your husbands arms held onto you for balance and assurance that you were there for him even through this troublesome 'rut' he developed after eating your freshly baked goodies for him.
'Don't prank your significant others by feeding them aphrodisiac laced goodies y/n.' Chang'e warns as she prepared for her next show before giving you a basket to pack up your items. You lied to her but still give them to your husband due to the fact that you believed he wouldn't react so badly in response.
And now you knew to never try a stunt like this again, especially feeling his cock go deeper inside your womb. Fucking you as if to breed you full of his babies; Babbling over his dick as it kept going deeper and deeper, cumming over his cock as he kept thrusting.
His eyes softened as his grip on you started to tighten again, his cock aching and desperate already for a release the tighter you squeeze against him as your orgasm was coming soon again; Black spots flooding your vision once more as tears poured from your eyes.
Finally after waiting presumably hours he finally came, fucking you through his orgasm as your legs started shaking and your arms falling to the floor out of tiredness. His cock stuck inside as he kept pumping more cum to your womb.
"Did you get all that?" "Mhm, sure did"
Your eyes snapped open when you heard two more voices pop up and look around, The two simians waving their hand to your before popping out of the bushes. "Were you filming this entire time?" You peer at their phones as one of them laugh, Hadn't Azure been stuck to you they would've lost their heads before hearing more footsteps from out the bushes; Peng and Huang peeping out a tree with unreadable expressions.
Macaque covers you both with a blanket he carried and shooed the two albino animals away as Wukong gave you some water and fruit he was eating. "You kinda have to admit.. That was pretty hot."
"Fuck you Wukong"

SEASON 5 EPISODE 7 ENGLISH SUB SPOILERS
thinking about how LBD was right. that despite her cruelty and deceitfulness and conflicting feelings about humanity, she was right. attempting to be the hero is painful. saving others means sacrificing yourself; the one for the many.
LBD attempted to "save" humanity and it resulted in her death.
Azure Lion attempted to "save" humanity and it resulted in his death.
MK was made to save humanity and he was intended to do it with his death.
in order to maintain the universal state he said he preferred, he would have had to kill himself and destroy every single person that loved him in the process.
idk. there's poetry in there i think.

(@mythicalmagical-monkeyman asked “ROYAL AU?” but it disappeared?.???😭😭 so just pretend I answered the ask rn💀💀)
ROYAL AU!!!
Basically I watched Cinderella & immediately decided I need royalty/borderline fairytale/fantasy AU shadowpeach. SWK is ofc the king & 6EM is apart of a ragtag group of entertainers that call themselves “The Lantern”, they r all sum kind of “”freak”” which is what brought them 2gether. The premise was originally just a feel good story where the Bull Kingdom invites The Lantern to play @ the Sun Kingdom, & SWK falls in luv w/ 6EM & vice versa. But I am incapable of keeping it simple so now there’s ✨lore✨
We have The Lantern (Macaque, Bai He, Peng, Yellowtusk, Azure)
Dragon Kingdom (Ao Lie, Mei, Ao Guang, Mei’s parents, etc)
Sun Kingdom (MK, Wukong, Tang, Pigsy, Sandy, Mo, Guanyin, Nezha)
Bull Kingdom (Demon Bull King, Princess Iron Fan, Redson)
Bone Clan (Lady Bone Demon, Mayor — idk what 2 call him yet)
Spider Clan (Spider Queen, Syntax, Goliath, Huntsman)
(The short writing/WIP below, fair warning I haven’t reread it or anything & this is the 1st draft + it’s old💀💀💀, it’s also kinda just an idea dump so idk how much would actually b canon 2 the AU yet)
The dark and looming forest, something usually eerie enough to send the bravest men running, was made less intimidating by the warm violet fire light. The campfire crackled as the group around it told tales, smiles wide and bellies ready to be filled. The sound of laughter only added to the homey atmosphere.
Peng cackled as Bai He told the story of how Demon Bull King, their closest ally, attempted to court Princess Iron Fan only for her to turn the tables. Sweeping him off his feet instead. The story wasn’t new nor was this the first time it had been told, yet it sent their feathered friend rolling each and every time it was regaled.
Macaque rolled his eyes fondly, lips quirked up in a soft lopsided grin. “Alright,” he said, catching everyone’s attention. “The food is ready. Bring your bowls and get your fill,” he said. Holding up the ladle from the pot strung up above their fire. Several cheers were heard. The more polite few, Azure and Yellowtusk, giving their thanks and the less patient, Peng and Bai He, giving theirs when elbowed from the former.
Macaque rolled his eyes at their antics, scooping the soup from the pot into their clay and wood bowls. “Thank you for foraging Yellow,” he nodded gratefully. Yellowtusk smiled.
“Anything for your cooking brother,” he said with an elegance only he could hold. Bai He nodded eagerly, completely agreeing. Azure admonished her for it, reminding her to eat properly lest she choke. The girl, at the soonest opportunity, maturely stuck her tongue out at him. Causing Peng to snort and actually choke. Yellowtusk patted them on the back.
Macaque smiled warmly at his little ragtag group. They were traveling entertainers. All of them were a freak of some kind, Macaque a shapeshifter who puts on shadow puppet shows. Having been ‘blessed’ with the gift of shadow and the sixth ear from a young age, he’d been sought out and held captive for many years before he’d found Bai He.
Bai He is a winter fae. Winter fae have quite the bad rap and yet she’s the sweetest girl he’s ever met. Brave and compassionate, she cares so brightly for her friends that it’s impossible for them to even doubt their place by her side. Macaque had met her when he’d been captured by the Bone Clan. The two had escaped together and the start of their theater began, turns out she had quite the knack for special effects.
The next to join their small gang was Azure Lion, a griffin cursed to live as part man. Apparently the man had some bad friends back in the day which had led him to his capture, a cage which Bai He and Macaque had freed him from. Azure had proved quite the leader, quickly taking the reins of their group and helping organize shows.
After him had been both Yellowtusk, a great warlock, and Peng, a magnificent harpy. They had encroached on the twos land by accident where Peng had fiercely attacked them. Upon discovering the misunderstanding they’d invited them in as an apology. Rather Yellowtusk invited them in. Turns out the two had been rather bored living on their own and Yellowtusk had always wanted to explore the world. So their three soon became a five.
Peng made a good scout and bodyguard while Yellowtusk knows plenty about medicine. Macaque also valued the warlock's insight when it came to plants. He always had the best ideas for add ons.
In their travels they had made many friends and ally’s. Their biggest ones, as mentioned previously, was the Bull Kingdom. Demon Bull King, a powerful centaur; his wife Princess Iron Fan, an elemental witch that has a deep connection with the wind; and their son Redson, half centaur and half elemental witch who, unlike his mother, has quite a strong connection to fire.
The five had been visiting both for shelter and to perform when an opposing kingdom had attacked. The group had lent their aid in the battle and quickly endeared themselves to the royals. The Bulls even going as far to claim them as family.
Smiling Macaque scooped up some of the mushroom soup and blew on it to cool it down, carefully taking a sip from it. He hummed in satisfaction. Yet another meal made to perfection. The next kingdom they plan to stop by is the Sun Kingdom. Apparently a great ball will be happening and the Bull Kingdom had invited the five to attend and perform, to which they had agreed.
Bai He had been rather ecstatic. According to the forest animals the Dragon Kingdom would be attending, another ally of theirs. Mei, the princess, had almost immediately taken to Bai He and the two became thicker than thieves. Of course not all kingdoms were receptive to their kind so Macaque was just hoping they would be welcome in the Sun Kingdom. While he wasn’t positive he would take his Bull brothers word for it.
After finishing the soup Bai He gathered up the dirty dishes, grumbling all the while as if the chore roster hadn’t originally been her idea. Her bug-like wings quivered as they rid themselves of the dust of the day. Bai He wore a light blue sleeveless top, that always reminded him of frost, with dark blue trimming. She also donned baggy white shorts and darker blue boots tied up with black leather string. The only thing with true color variation was the pink handkerchief holding her long black hair, which had a stripe of white, back from her face. A gift from Mei that the dragon girl said would bring out her warm brown eyes.
Peng had dark teal baggy shorts as well as a purple loincloth held up by a golden belt. A dark green feather sticking out from their black hair pulled up into a high bun. Yellowtusk wore a simple dark purple robe with gold accents, a compliment to his brother's outfit. His white hair is short and tucked back behind his ears with a few loose strands framing his face. While Azure wore skin tight black pants and shirt, which only had one sleeve and was cut diagonally in a way that exposed half of his torso, and finally a golden armored skirt with gold shoulder pads. His ginger hair pulled into two braided pigtail resting in his shoulders.
Macaque himself had a red cloak, a black baggy shirt with even baggier sleeves and gold accents, dark red pants, and black boots also with gold accents. The shapeshifters own short black hair simply slicked back to stay out of his face. The only real thing their clothes had in common was a necklace crafted by Yellowtusk, the symbol was his shadow lantern and each amulet was enchanted with protection wards.
Macaque absolutely did not cry when Yellowtusk handed them out no matter what Peng says. Which is super hypocritical because they totally did.
ANYWAYS!
“Alright!” Azure spoke. Gaining the attention of the group he smiled, clasping his hands together as Bai He came back from the river with the freshly cleaned dishes. “It’s getting late and if we wish to arrive in time we must leave earlier,” he announced. Grumbled agreements rang through the camp as the group pulled out their blankets.
Macaque wheezed as Bai He tackled him, wrapping her arms and legs around him like a koala. “Really?” he groaned. She laughed as he pulled the blankets up over them. The next to lay down was Yellowtusk and Peng, then finally Azure. He closed his fist and the fire went out, their supplies being gathered up by shadows and deposited in their rightful place.
The five gathered up their blankets and pillows for their cuddle pile. Macaque relaxed into the bed as he shifted from his human form to his puma one, wrapping his tail around his sister's ankle in an effort to hug her back. Peng and Azure's wings spread out to cover them all as Yellowtusk whispered a spell of warmth. Soon the gathered heat of his family lulled him to sleep, excited for a full day of performance tomorrow.
——————
Wukong was excited. The neighboring kingdom, the Bull Kingdom, had invited the rather infamous traveling group The Lantern.

what is going on in the Worst Pilgrims ever au?
✨I am so glad you asked!!!✨
The main crux (and namesake) of this AU comes from me playing around with a Mix-And-Match website and it randomly generating LBD, The Mayor, Peng and Azure Lion as the JTTW pilgrims and I thought that idea was so funny I HAD to do something with it.
Basically, when it was time of Tang Sanzang to go on his funny little Journey To The West, instead of picking up the usual pilgrims along the way, he is voluntold by Buddha to take along various Celestial Traitors/Usurpers as some sort of Rehab-Road Trip. The idea was that since these various people fought Heaven because they thought the world was flawed and wanted to fix it (at two different times, coincidentally), if they were sent on this awesome road trip to the west, they'd see just how great the world under Celestial Bureaucracy actually was! It... mostly works out! 👍At least until shortly after finishing the Journey and getting back into Heaven's good graces, the Pilgrims assassinate the Jade Emperor and Azure replaces him about 500 some years earlier than in Canon. This can only go well, I'm sure.
Of course, as all major changes to history tend to do, this has rippling effects on the course of many character's lives, including but not limited to; Wukong being stuck in the trigram furnace for 500+ years, MK being born and growing up on Flower Fruit Mountain, and Mei is now our main character and Azure's spiritual successor! Fun!
Thank you for showing interest in my silly little AU I'm very excited to share more!

Li Jing Analysis
My 4th analysis on this guy, and this time it’s about how he handles the entire situation that is Season 5. I love psychoanalyzing this old man :3.
Listen, how would you react if your leader is killed, you inherit his position cause you’re the only one strong enough to take it on, the universe is falling apart, and the one person who knows what’s going on (your own KID no less) won’t tell you any details, despite the fact that he was there and knows exactly why and who caused THE UNIVERSE TO START FALLING APART.
Of course Li Jing would be a cranky asshole since he doesn’t know what’s going on aside from the fact that the Jade Emperor was dead, and MK, Wukong and Macaque were involved. As far as Li Jing was concerned, Wukong WAS the one who killed the Jade Emperor and not Azure since, you know, Nezha didn’t explain to him who it actually was and what actually happened, and instead LET his dad put the circlet on Wukong.
So, now running on a huge misunderstanding that Nezha had every chance to talk to his dad about, he let Li Jing take themselves on a wild chase to track Wukong down, and only told him the ACTUAL PROBLEM when the universe began LITERALLY SHATTERING.
Am I blaming Nezha? No, not at all. But did he have every chance to tell his dad the true story of why the universe is CTRL+ALT+DELETING itself? Absolutely. And this isn’t a “oh, Li Jing won’t listen” thing, because he very much listened when Nezha explained at the end, so I do believe Nezha had every chance during the season to tell Li Jing what was going on and made things so much easier on everyone.
So the way he handles season 5 isn’t unprecedented, seeing as the only things he knows is that the universe is collapsing upon itself and Wukong (who’s known for destruction and chaos within heaven) was 100% involved.
Li Jing is literally lawful stupid, his brain went Universe Deletion + Wukong = Wukong is destroying the universe. Wukong is destroying the universe + circlet, Jade Emperor powers and imprisonment = universe corrects itself. Li Jing is a very single minded person, with his only goal during season 5 being to maintain some semblance of balance to keep the universe afloat. And if your only source of information was keeping all the important details away, what information do you have? None.
So, long story short, Li Jing is a lawful stupid man that has no clue what's going on and thus no way to properly handle the situation, and season 5 was literally just one huge misunderstanding that could have been solved if Nezha just explained everything earlier on in the season.

Known your not feeling well and I'm sorry to ask but this idea for jttw stoen egg au just kept nagging at me. This takes place during the Journey of course since it's, essentially, during and right after the Camel Ridge incident.
After the rather disastrous meeting of Wukong's brothers, whom entire existence explains way too much about their most chaotic member for the Pilgrim's comfort, particularly in regards to his habit ofmputting himself into danger without a second thought and reavted to even the alightest hint of failure, Tripitaka determines they need a break. So they find an inn.
Macaque, he lost his eye. Unlike in the other aus, it wasn't Wukong who took it. It was Azure. And Wukong is absolutely distraught over both how things escalated and how he had unintentionally been forced into the position of a damsel in distress by Azure. The way his trusted elder brothers, whom he had looked up to, had turned against him and how the man he had admired had crippled his precious mate to whom he only recently reunited with he himself unable to do anything due to his baby! How he had intentionally kept Macaque away from him, he later discovered. It all culminated into a very, very upset monkey.
Macaque for the most part is okay with the loss of his eye. As far as he's concerned, it's a small price to pay for to make up for how horrible a mate he's been to his Peaches and what any person would do to protect their mate. He's too injured to really do much of anything, but he tries to stay as close to Wukong as possible. Ao Lie finds it sweet.
Tripitaka, however, is not happy. He had trusted in the bonds of Wukong's family, having had nothing but good, if terrifying experiences with them, and had nearly lost Wukong because he'd trusted the wrong demon! He isn't mad at Wukong or Macaque, as neither were really at fault since nobody expected Azure to pull that stunt, but the fact it happened angers him. To discover his first disciple had suffered and been betrayed by one he trusted enough to call brother is nothing less than an outrage to him. The more he learns about Wukong's treatment by the Brotherhood from Macaque, the more Tripitaka wishes he had not been a pacifist.
Wujing and Baije have had their worlds rocked in an irreparable way. They'd already accepted that their belief about Wukong being the monster they had once thought he was most certainly had been destroyed by then. Zu Baijie has even come to tease Wukong as his Little Big Brother and looked forward to being an uncle for Wukong's cub! But to discover all of Heaven's beliefs about the Havoc and the War thay followed was a fallacy created by one man who manipulated their brother into doing the crimes he did when he was but a cub... it doesn't sit right for either of them, and they notably stand closer and more protectively of Wukong for a bit. As close as his overprotective mate will allow them, at least, yikes! And Baijie had thought Ao Lie was aggressively protective! He's got nothing on the shadow monkey!
prev.
Ohhhh the idea of Mac losing his eye to Azure in the Jttw SE au is galaxy brain. Since Mac lost his eye in his canon fight with Wukong, losing the eye whilst choosing to protect Wukong is a really good story twist!
The Pilgrims and the Brotherhood are not having a good first meeting, and Macaque sees it all go down.
He hates the Pilgrims personally; dragging his King away from the island where he's needed, forcing him to act as an errand boy for the Buddha, that disgusting circlet with the mantra even he feels in his skull.
Macaque had watched Wukong and his travelling companions from afar long before revealing himself to them. He had overheard the jubilant calls from Flower Fruit Mountain that the King had returned - but also heard the disappointed confirmation that he had chosen to continue on a pilgrimage with the Tang Monk to Thunderclap Monastery. The shadow monkey had leapt from his employment with Jiuweihuli to devote himself entirely to tracking down his returned mate (the vixen had not minded, she understood that her protégé's heart was yearning).
Macaque trailed the group for weeks before the Brotherhood ever thought to ask him for his input. Macaque had spat his hatred for the hypocritical monk, the perverted swine, the thoughtless fish, and the useless dragon-horse, so venomously that the three demon kings were convinced of his loyalty to them.
However, Macaque's disdain for the Pilgrims did *not* mean his devotion to Wukong swayed. Because something disgusts him even more than this whole Journey;
How his former brother Azure treats Wukong.
Treating Macaque's King, his Peaches, his Mate; like he owned him. That Wukong surrendering was tantamount to betrayal. They speak of him as though he's one of the gods that repressed them. Their sworn brother, the person who sacrificed his freedom for their survival!
Then Azure grabs Wukong by the shoulder and orders that the king stay in Camel Ridge. Giving their former leader an offer that sounds far too layered and provocative to be one of mere loyalty...
Macaque: "I'm going to have to stop you right there Azure. Wukong goes where he damn well pleases. And if he doesn't want to stay here with you, then he should be allowed to leave." Azure: (*dumbstruck by Macaque's outburst*) Peng: (*shocked but impressed bird noise!*) Yellow Tusk: (*calmly prepares for the rumble thats about to go down*) Wukong, in awe at Mac's protective act: "Mihou..." Macaque, rushes over to Wukong: "Peaches... I- I thought it was wrong for you to go on this pilgrimage, but you've... healed. You were really hurt when they sent you under that mountain, I saw it first hand, and even though I don't care for your companions-" Zhu Bajie: "Hey!" Macaque, continues: "-they clearly have your best interests in mind. They jump to protect you, even though they know you're strong enough to bend the sky in half. I've seen the Monk allow himself to be tossed from a horse's saddle just to convince you to ride instead of walk in your condition." Wukong, happy tears: "Master's cassock is still stained from that day..." Macaque, happy laughter: "And I still have the bite wound from when I first approached you. From the monk!" (*Wukong & Macaque press their foreheads together with affection*) Macaque: "This is going to sound... absolutely insane, but from what I've seen and heard in the few weeks... I'd like to stay along for the ride. If you'd have me." Wukong, trying to hide his joy: "You mean it?! You'll come with us all the way to India!?" Macaque: "Yup. Beyond that too." (*gently places hand on Wukong's mid-section*) "I wanna be there to see the Egg come into this world. And be there to see how much havoc they cause our kingdom." (*Romantic monkey noises ensue!*) Tripitaka: "Um... I'd hate to intrude-" Zhu Bajie: "No you don't." Tripitaka: "True. But we are currently in the middle of being attacked by three of your former sworn brothers." The Brotherhood: (*already mid-battle with Ao Lie and Sha Wujing*) Macaque & Wukong: "Oh yeah..." "Forgot they were still here..." Macaque: "Be back in a moment peaches." Macaque: (*Rushes at Azure and turns into his Kaiju form*) Wukong: (*purring and heart-eyes*) (*♥ω♥)
Tumblr media
The ensuing fight is pretty brutal, all things considered. Even though Wukong does swing his staff around, the others don't want to risk his health in his condition. Tripitaka and Ao Lie in particular keep trying to route Wukong away from the battle entirely.
Macaque and the dragon end up forming a tag team to take down Azure, whilst Bajie and Wujing deal with Peng and Yellow Tusk respectively.
Azure suddenly changes course, aiming his sword for Wukong's middle.
Macaque jumps ahead of the swing.
Wukong screams as blood sprays both him and Azure.
Macaque crumbles to the ground, his face a red mess. A massive gash stretching across his face and cutting through his right socket.
Wukong feels his heart stop.
And within seconds; Yama and the Ten Kings greet the three rogue celestial animals in their court. The bodhisattvas and the Buddha's most trustworthy arrive shortly thereafter, looking supremely disgusted with their steeds' actions.
-
Macaque is out cold for days afterwards. The Pilgrims find the nearest inn brave enough to operate in demon territory. The monkey is silent and unmoving, but his heart still beats. Wukong refuses to leave his bedside for even a moment.
The Pilgrims finally understand how much both monkeys mean to one another.
Bajie does his best to comfort his little-big brother, feeling the sympathy of a hundred heartbreaks. He takes over cooking duties without being asked for the first time in forever. He starts making soups.
Ao Lie sneaks into the room in his smaller dragon form, curling against Macaque's body and whispering for him to please wake up and not leave brother Wukong to raise his pup without his mate.
Tripitaka is furious. Not at his disciple or even his disciple's antagonistic mate. But at the Brotherhood, at the Taoist Gods, himself - every level of anger he's every felt in one lifetime. Wukong even hears his Master attempt to take his rage out on his holy vestments (he had thought to strike a tree or rock but decided against it). The cassock and hat are noticeably crumpled the next time Wukong sees him.
Sha Wujing is the one to suggest that they all come together and meditate and pray in this dark moment. His qi exhausted from (without his brothers' knowledge) astrally contacting any and all people who may wish to see the Macaque one last time. He felt it was the least he could do.
Guanyin appears, called forth by each Pilgrim praying for the shadow monkey's survival. A certain king's prayer the loudest of them all. All the goddess can provide is a drop of her healing waters to awaken Macaque from his coma.
Macaque right eye is permanently blinded. Azure's divine attack destroyed it entirely. A blow meant for Wukong - no, meant for the Egg. Without even caring for his injury, Macaque immediately springs forward, worried about his King.
Wukong cries so hard with relief that he gets hiccups. Him and Macaque do not part from their embrace for hours.
The Stone Egg begins kicking for the first time.

So my mom knows a lot of (kinda random) stuff and sometimes she'll share it with me. And the other day she talked about the Ying and Yang thingy and it got me thinking
This thing
Tumblr media
Is about order and chaos. It's about what you know and what you don't; the day and the night. It's not meant to represent evil vs good
Now why am I bringing this up? Because MK is supposed to be the Harbinger of Chaos. See where I'm going?
Chaos is not seen as an evil thing; or not always, at least. Chaos is just... the lack of order. What the Ying and Yang is supposed to represent is balance. There can't be too much chaos, yes, but there also can't be too much order
Qi Xiaotian may be the Harbinger of Chaos, but this only means that he plays a greater part on keeping the balance, well, balanced. He isn't order, and that's good
This can also be seen in his chaotic personality. He's loud and has a hard time listening to other people; he has broken stuff multiple times and pranked people with Mei. Her and MK have always been described as a 'chaotic duo'. Chaos is just part of who MK is! And that's not a bad thing!!
Now that just leaves the question: who is order? Who represents it? Who is the Yang to his Yin?
The main villain we've had so far (LBD, Azure) could be representing order. The Lady Bone Demon wanted a perfect world, a world where there was no chaos; the world she wanted, one she could rule. Azure Lion wanted to overthrow the Jade Emperor to become emperor himself (also, wow, parallels) and keep the peace while also being just and fair to everyone. But I don't really feel like that's enough, y'know?
None of the characters we've seen so far represent order the way MK represents chaos. My first thought was "Mei could be order!" to have some kind of "sun and moon" tragic duo, but it's not very good because Mei is also very chaotic (order is not what you think when you first look at her. Chaos, or chaotic, is what MK reminds people of)
Maybe Bai He? But we haven't seen much of her yet. I would like to have her and MK as a fun duo though. And with the order comparisons w LBD and Bai He having been possessed by her... yeah I think that'd be some good material for a very angsty episode/season
So! The conclusion! MK being the Harbinger of Chaos is not a bad thing and he is literally just helping keep the balance

Ok, so, just watched the season 4 specials, and wow that is a ride.
I'm not going to spoil what happened, but I want to talk about something at the end that i believe links into who the next "big bad guy"(s) is/are.
So, potential spoiler warning, go watch the specials and come back here once your done!
What I am referring to specifically is this image and something Wukong said.
Tumblr media
Now, lets get down to business.
During the final confrentation Wukong said something to Azure that could only mean one thing to me. He basically implied he killed Azure back in the past.
But, if that was the case, there is no way Azure should be top side. And unlike my belief that Wukong didn't kill Mac, in this case, I have to believe Wukong killed Azure. Wukong's confusion and questions along with Azure's own recognition that something is wrong and that he was used can only point to the lion's death.
But if that is the case, how was he top side? How did he escape the Diyu?
This will not surprise anyone who has read the journey to the west, the source material for a lot of the Lego Monke Kid past and characters, but, only one person ever went into the Diern and escaped back to the mortal coils. And that was the Monkey King, as shown in Mac's explanation of Wukong's past.
Tumblr media
And this vissage looks strikingly familiar to the temple we see at the end, to the point it has to be the same place. Plus some of the individuals who were in the scene were interacting with more pieces of the scroll that was used, specifically referring to it as the "scroll of memories".
Tumblr media
The backstory imagery, Wukongs statement of Azure being dead, as well as this scene linking the scroll back to this place can only point to one thing for me.
The Diyu's 10 kings are the next bad guy.
That place can only be the Diyu, the image is shown when Mac is referring to Wukong's travels into the realm of the dead and removing his name from the leger. And with Azure being dead and the scroll seemingly being the property of the Diyu, and the Diyu being damb spiteful about keeping it's souls in the land of the dead unless they reincarnate there is no way of any of this happening unless the 10 kings set this up. They let Azure out of the Diyu with the scroll in hopes of achieving something.
And based on Azure's almost continuous hate and desire to kill Wukong till Wukong pointed out the problem the only reason I can think they would do it is exactly that they wanted Azure to kill Wukong.
It makes sense after all, the 10 kings were humiliated by Wukong in the original story and they likely would have wanted to get back at Wukong. But why now? Why over likely 1000 years later? Well, part of it likely relates to Wukong trashing the place and it taking them time to get the place back in order. The other reason, I think, relates to them thinking Wukong would be weak enough for Azure to take him down. We all remember how beat up and drained Wukong was for all of season 3, and while time had likely passed between seasons 3 and 4 it probably wasn't a lot of time. So, maybe once the 10 kings got word of what happened they searched for a soul to use to achieve their goal, kill Sun Wukong.
I don't think they expected their plan to go so far off the rails and almost destroy the universe, but I am positive they wanted Wukong dead.
So, I expect season 5 will either be the group having to protect Wukong from even more of his old enemies trying to kill/kidnap him, or having to rescue Wukong again, this time from the Diyu.
I can't be sure though, and if this all is the case that they were trying to kill Wukong, it is entirely possible my believe Wukong didn't kill Mac is wrong and the Diyu was trying to use LBD to get rid of Wukong, potentially multiple times and tried to use Mac as a tool to make it happen!
Also, Mac being so tight liped about what happened to fully push apart Mac and Wukong even now, makes me hope we will see it if/when Wukong and Mac finally fully apologise to each other and start rebuilding their relationship. What wukong did with Mac in the ending scene makes me think Wukong wants to try the two's friendship again, but I can't be sure.
However, I need to ask, what do you all think?
Comment below your thoughts.

Lionsword Fic — Azure Finds Out
Tw for mentions of past abuse, swearing, and angst
Tumblr media
“HE. DID. WHAT?!”
Jing quickly shushed azure, not wanting to wake the boys. Azure lowered his voice, though it still retained its rage.
“How long had he been doing this?”
Jing shuffled on the bed in azures oversized shirt, his bare legs meeting the cold sheets as he sat next to the lion silently. He stayed quiet for a while longer, before answering slowly.
“Since… the first time I tried to wear colors other then white… back when, you know…”
“So… that’s why you were always in white? I thought it was just a fashion choice, like how Nezha wears pinks instead of gold like the other guards…”
“No,” Jing chuckled humorlessly, and leaned back against the (reinforced) wooden frame of his bed. He didn’t say anything for a few more seconds, trying to find words, before he took a breath. “No, it was something deliberately told to me. That the mounting period was different for me because I’m a widower…”
“That is such bullshit.” Growled Azure, and he wrapped a warm but gentle arm around Jing, who melted into it with a sigh. “They used your lack of knowledge about the celestials realm against you.”
“Yeah.” Jing glanced over at a sleeping Mocha, all cozy in her bassinet and sighed. “But, thankfully, Nezha was able to end it. So…”
“…why did you never tell me before?” There’s no judgement, only soft questioning, but it makes Jing shrink in on himself anyway.
“I was scared.” He admitted, a fact he had not shared with the others. “I was scared of what you would do yes… but I was also scared of how I would be seem, what others would see me as. Of.. what you would see me as. I’m a celestial general, to make a fuss over such a thing-“
“Kitten,” Azures chest rumbles gently with his words, and Jing has to blink back the sudden wetness in his eyes. “kitten no, I would’ve never thought any different.”
“I know that now.” Jing’s voice became tight as he continued to stare at the wall, trying not to let the tears fall. “But- it was- there was so much going on. We were in the middle of a war, and Nezha… gods he was so young back then…”
Azure fully wrapped his arms around Jing, laying them both down under the covers. Jing’s shoulders shook slightly as he fought back the fresh wave of tears.
“You didn’t deserve it.”
Those simple words broke Jing’s dam, and he turned to bury himself in Azure’s shoulder. Azure simply held him, only reaching out to turn off the lamp. They stayed like that all night, with Jing’s quiet cries thankfully not waking mocha.
