So, about my "Garak knows Julian is lying, he doesn't know about what" hc. Now a bit from Julian's pov.

He knows that Garak is onto him, so when they're together he creates a system, he will talk, he will debate and have stimulating conversations, but he doesn't leave openings for Garak to ask much. And if he does, he never outright doesn't answer, he does so, only noncommittal, he never outright lies elaboratly like Garak, he just evades. (one time Garak asks how was his childhood on earth and he only says "dreadfully uneventful")

He does the same with all his friends, but the problem with Garak is that he notices, he can talk a lot with Jadzia and never reveal anything, Miles is a closed off man that doesn't ask too many questions, but Garak? Garak pries, he is curious, and is much like Julian in that sense, he can't resist a mystery.

Now, let's think about how much it would hurt, to be falling in love with a person, to want to spend your time with them, but you just can't. Julian wants to talk, he wants to let Garak in, he wants to spend many hours with him, but he restricts himself to only his doctor or his lunch mate, nothing else, he can't risk it, it's too dangerous, and he never felt lonelier.

To love someone who will never know who you really are.

I think it would get so much worse after the changeling, like I said on a previous post, the changeling emulates Julian well and no one notices because no one knows Julian all too well.

I think everyone would feel so much guilt cuz, how could they not notice it? He's their friend, he knows everything there is to know about them, and they can't even notice when he's literally not himself??

But Julian is okay with it.

Not okay, per say, but he expected it, he knew it all along, that his friends wouldn't know it, he's resigned, it's his own doing and he is defeated by it, by this horrible thing that he made happen because of something his parents did to him, but he assures everyone that it's fine, there was no way for anyone to notice.

How could they know? He sure as hell didn't make it easy.

And he gets lonelier, if possible, because he is painfully aware of how insignificant his existence is, because no one knows him apart from his name and job, he can't rely on anyone, only on himself, and he is going crazy with it.

Julian spent his time on the camp convinced that no one was coming, because no one knows him enough to notice, and it's his own fault, and he feels so hollow, the solitary confinement brought it to the surface, how it felt silent and he was forced to confront his solitude for the first time.

He needs to let it out, but he can't, and Garak gets more persistent.

All his friends start to notice something is wrong, but he bounces back from the camp like nothing happened, smiling, acting the same. All this acting, he only starts to get noticed by others because he's getting tired.

Everyone just thinks it's just because of the camp, but he knows Garak sees him, so he distances himself a bit.

And when the secret is out, he wants to run, to hide, he is scared, terrified even, he knows people will look at him differently, he is mortified of being known for who he is, he doesn't know how to deal with any of this, he was never ready to be himself fully.

But, for the first time, he feels free.

one of my favorite things about Viktor’s fully deified Arcane form is the inclusion of his leg and chest braces even though he really shouldn’t need them any more. Like there’s this idea of the Hexcore as this living machine that can “heal” and “perfect” a body. And in its weird specific way, it does? I mean, Viktor isn’t dying any more and he can seemingly walk without crutches.

But there’s also this kind of beautiful implication that at a certain point, the Hexcore can’t exactly differentiate between the blood and bone human body and the metal augmentation. It’s interesting where the Arcane decided to draw the line between body and everything else.

His right leg and chest still have the skeleton of where braces used to be. It’s fascinating that the core seemed to understand the engineering design of Viktor’s body, but didn’t feel the need to remove the fingerprints of the disability existing there in the first place. Ofc it’s also possible that this form exists as a sort of collaboration between Viktor and the Arcane, so maybe it wasn’t the will of the core that left that imprint but instead a conscious (or subconscious) choice of Viktor. It’s such an incredibly intimate and human detail.

Let me tell you how warped people are today…

So I got my whole blog deleted

Someone and I know who flagged my page and got it deleted

so I was commenting on how I hated a Star Trek storyline that they have in deep space nine about Bashir being mad at his parents because he had augmented genes and how he took it was they didn’t love him enough and that he’s like a creation more than a person which was so stupid because all they did was heal his learning disability and they clearly loved him. They clearly were affectionate towards him. They didn’t treat him any less human than any other children. They just healed a problem that he had .

And somebody commented back-and-forth with me about how his parents took away his ability to write to choose, and I was confused about why that would be an issue because if any parent who had a child who had any kind of disability of any kind they would want them healed because who wouldn’t want to be healed from blindness, having no limbs one limb Missing fingers missing eyes.

Not only doesn’t make it an easy quality of life, but you also get to engage other things as well that in richer life more.

And we just got to the whole back-and-forth and she just twisted my whole words to make it seem like I was over here making it seem like disability disabled people aren’t people and that they were not enough and that they don’t have quality of living and I didn’t say that, I said these parents Love their children to want to see them have a better quality of life.

No one said anything about being a person or being valued because a lot of parents are very unconditionally loving to their children, especially the ones that have extensive needs. These people sacrificed our whole lives for their kids.

Parents shouldn’t be able to do that or the parent isn’t able to do that they do it because that’s their children.

Confused why she would even care because I’m pretty sure they were pro life and so that means that they’re pro abortion so that means that the parent or the mom could choose to do whatever with the clump of cells that she chooses to do with the baby definitely confused I can’t imagine how healing your child of any disability or lack they may have in their physical body is somehow worse, as opposed to getting rid of a fully healthy and capable of baby.

They didn’t throw Bashir in the trash. They didn’t abort Bashir because he was disabled. They just said we can fix this if there’s a way to fix it we can fix it..

Idk how many parents in real life may have done that they don’t document those at the abortion clinic. Even if it was it wouldn’t be socially celebrated. People would tell any mom who thee away her baby because of a disability that she’s terrible woman and mother.

Doable people are protected and provided for in our society. They are loved and respected and even catered to . It’s ILLEGAL to not have any ramp accessible business in the USA. You even have to have bars for the bathroom for the disabled and at hotels.

But I had a problem with the storyline because of how he reacted, and how he was completely missing his parents intentions of doing that as was the person who got my page deleted was missing the entire intentions of doing that. And it was very OOC of them.

Like here are these people who have to do all these extra steps that they eventually get used to who can’t function, but or can’t function by themselves, depending on the severity of the disability or not or what it is and you wanna make it seem like having full functional ability of your life and creating an easier life for you a bad thing?!?

A headcanon of mine is that League Viktor was also dealing with the same illness as his Arcane counterpart-but between Stanwick Pididly's absolute dickishness and Giopara being a jerk, he ultimately ended up hiding his illness and not telling anyone. This... Kind of bit him in the ass later when he was being tried, because he'd kept it a secret and revealing it then wouldn't have helped. (It probably wouldn't have helped much by that point, but hiding it made his research look absolutely insane and evil, instead of partially motivated by survival. (He is terminally unhinged, but all Viktors are by default.)

(Mostly, he kept it a secret because it didn't want even more pity and condescension from everyone; but another reason was because he didn't want Jayce to deal with the knowledge that his boyfriend/partner was dying of an incurable disease.)

(The sad thing about this HC is, I think Giopara would have been more accepting of Viktor's shady experiments if he knew why he was doing them-but Viktor kept it to himself, and the Defender didn't find out until years after Viktor became the Machine Herald. Giopara just thought he had an intense illness, but was under the impression he'd get better.)

OH THATS SO FUCKED (said with glee). i always thought that since it was likely Viktor's transformation happened earlier in his life (as they were still both students at the time of his exile) that his condition hadn't deteriorated nearly as much by the time he replaced his lungs but this is SO much worse (better). adds so many layers to it all

like viktor keeping his condition a secret because honestly what it would achieve? he's dying with or without the half-hearted pity of others, and he especially wouldn't want pity from the one person he likes respects. or even worse, depending if it was before or after the stanwick, he wouldn't think giopara would care, since he clearly misjudged how close they were. and then after the factory incident that just proves to him that jayce never would have cared or tried to understand the things he and other zaunites have to do to survive.

but like man. it could've been different. if he had told giopara straight away he probably would've been more understand. maybe he'd see the augmentations as trying to remove humanity but as a tool of survival. maybe he would've given viktor more benefit of the doubt, whether at the dive suits or at him asking for the crystals or even at the factory. maybe they never would've fought and viktor might've kept some faith in humanity. jayce doesn't understand but he could have.

there are a lot of lessons he has learned along every relationship he has been in the lines of yet lee heeseung doesn't believe he's ever been in love until he has been with you.

it wasn't something he knew he felt, but it was surely something he realized in the spur of a moment, in a split second of epiphany. he knew what he felt for you was something deep when he realized that yes he wouldn't hesitate to die for you, but what he wants is to live for you. it's easy to be the first to go but to hold your strength through everything and survive for someone, that is definitely love is what heeseung believes.

it just never made sense to him, how one could feel so much solely for another. but in moments of his silence where you struggled to understand it all, he realized the importance, the willingness to learn to express his feelings.
