Richard Gere on Making Us Root for the Bad Guy in 'Arbitrage'
Photography By Myles Aronowitz WRITER’S NOTE: This article was originally written in 2012. Don’t get me wrong, Richard Gere has played many likable characters in movies like “Pretty Woman” and “An Officer and a Gentleman,” but it’s when he plays despicable ones that he truly excels as an actor. The latest example of this is his brilliant performance as Robert Miller in “Arbitrage,” the movie…

Slight change in plans…
Tomorrow’s interview has been postponed until Monday, which actually works better for me. The sound test is still happening today though ☺️ and I plan to use this gorgeous setup while I have it. Monday will be a busy day for me…at 10am I get interviewed by Audie Cornish for her podcasts, then at 1pm I will be interviewed by Ditto Nation! If there’s any more changes, I will let you know.
To be continued on WordPress…

My media this week (18-24 Feb 2024)
Tumblr media
i'll always prefer the og but this iteration is entertaining
📚 STUFF I READ 📚
😍 The Old Codgers Greatest Hits Album (AggressiveWhenStartled, author; quietnight, narrator) - 57K series, canon-divergent stucky co-starring peter parker. Reread of this hilarious forever fave where first teenage peter is forced to deal with two body-swapped geriatric supersoldiers and then bucky is forced to deal with two teenage spidermen trying (and failing) to stealthily rescue their "dog". Great podfic by quietnight, absolute hilarity
🥰 History of American Capitalism (Zenaidamacrouras1) - 85K, shrinkyclinks college AU with superstar QB!Bucky & history nerd Steve - incredible found family dynamics, can't believe @zenaidamacrouras1 made me actually really get into an AU that involved both undergrads AND football. The nerve! The talent! (the fic is single POV but there's an amazing companion piece that's Bucky's convos with this sister that give a his POV on some of it and it's equally amazing)
💖💖 +347K of shorter fic so shout out to these I really loved 💖💖
Half sleep, half waking (softestpunk) - The Sandman & Rivers of London crossover: dreamling, 8K - amazing crossover! I wish there was 60K of this for me to read
Road to Joy (Oddree13) - Stranger Things: steddie, 25K - latest chapter in this omegaverse steddie series that I absolutely adore
Knit One, Purl Two (mollus) - MCU: stucky, 32K - reread; forever fave WS recovery fic with lots of softness in the form of: knitting, dancing, soap making and senior citizens
Red, White & Royal Goose (fairestfaerie) - RWRB: alex/henry, 7K - I just love a good Soulmate Goose of Enforcement fic
This Sunlit Land (eyres) - MCU: stucky, 38K - wonderful canon/timeline-divergent WS recovery AU

Podfluencer Society Podcast: Helping Podcasters With Their Brand & Business
Tumblr media
Imagine that you run a podcast that helps existing and aspirational podcasters. Here is the pitch for the podcast to help other podcasters.
“Calling all podcasters (& aspiring podcasters too)! After over a decade in Nashville managing the careers of celebrity musicians, your host Angie Griffith now has a mission of helping YOU to dream bigger, think outside of the box, and create a THRIVING business with your podcast at the center of it all. Tune in each Monday for a mix of solo episodes, guest interviews, and even recommendations for other podcasts that can help you along on your creator journey — and walk away with 4 things to keep you inspired and moving forward as a podcaster.”
In essence, your business and podcast helps other podcasts grow, change, achieve their business objectives, adapt, and improve.
Now imagine that you’re prescient enough to take your own advice and change, adapt and improve.
And that’s exactly what Angie Griffith is doing with her successful 4 Things For Your Podcast. She’s rebranding.
Change is good, but it can be scary. But Griffith knows exactly what’s she doing with this rebrand.
Starting April 18th, 4 Things For Your Podcast becomes Podfluencer Society. It’s the perfect portmanteau that describes successful podcasts and their influence on our society.
Griffith connects the following mission statement with her rebranding.
“A podfluencer is building a thriving brand and business, with their podcast at the center of it all.”
Consider that it took millions of dollars for Facebook to come up with the “blah” and inscrutable Meta as its rebranding. Or Dunkin’ Donuts, who decided in a meeting, “let’s drop donuts from our name and call it a rebranding. Who wants donuts for lunch?”
By contrast, Angie Griffith relied on her natural creativity and experience in the podcasting field.
Griffith’s new show, Podfluencer Society, will live on the same feed, and will share insights from top industry leaders across podcasting, the creator economy, the entertainment business, and more, with topics including launching, marketing, monetizing, mindset, and beyond.
To celebrate the rebranding, Griffith has launched four episodes that announce the news, share her learnings of the past year and her reason for rebranding, and an interview with Allie Reeves of All In with Allie about how to know it’s time to rebrand your podcast and what to do from there.
Since Griffith began her podcast for podcasters, she has cast a wide net for topics for her show. For example, in February, she released an episode, How to Become an Expert Rambler (and not say “um” so much.) with Maggie Sturgis. Last October, Griffith released an episode about money-saving tax tips for podcasters. These two episodes demonstrate how she can maneuver seamlessly from podcasting basics to the intricacies of a topic such as taxes.
That’s a tightrope that has sent too many podcasting shows spiraling into obscurity.
Griffith’s episode about making money with a tiny audience is a must-listen. So many times I speak to podcasters who say they want to be the next Joe Rogan, Roman Mars, or Audie Cornish. Griffith’s point is: “you can be yourself and still make money at podcasting.”   Angie Griffith ventured into building her own brand and business in podcasting in March 2021, after spending over a decade in the music industry and spearheading the launch of a Podcast Division at an elite artist management firm. Through her extensive experience in high-level entertainment, she offers a unique and valuable perspective to her audience of “podfluencers,” a term she coined to describe content creators, reality television personalities, and other influencers who are building thriving brands and businesses, with their podcast at the center of it all.
Griffith was selected by Apple Podcasts for inclusion at the top of their curated list of Best Podcasts For Podcasters, nominated for TWO 2022 People’s Choice Podcast Awards, and featuring a wide variety of industry thought-leaders and noteworthy guests, her newly rebranded Podfluencer Society podcast shares insights from top industry leaders across podcasting, the creator economy, the entertainment business, and more, with topics including launching, marketing, monetizing, mindset, and beyond.
Angie Griffith was a multi-stage presenter and featured panelist at the 2023 Podcast Movement Evolutions conference in Las Vegas and has been featured in various industry-leading summits and podcasts, including Capsho’s Grow My Podcast Summit, Buzzsprout’s Podcasting Q&A, Podcast Growth Hacks by PodInbox, NashvilleVoyager Magazine, and many more.
She is the founder of the Podfluencer Collective podcast network and offers various free resources, service-based offers, and digital products to guide her audience as they strategically develop their podcasts, cultivate meaningful communities around their brands, and build sustainable businesses through podcasting.
You can learn more about Griffith’s offerings at: https://beacons.ai/theactualangie
If you are an experienced podcaster searching for ways to increase visibility, downloads, and monetization, check out Podfluencer Society. And if you’re just starting out, planning your eventual podcast, then check out Podfluencer Society.
And if you’re not a podcaster but a podcast fan who wants to know the secret sauce to make a successful podcast, then check out Podfluencer Society.
Finally, Angie Griffith is clearly worthy of being called a Podfluencer, as are many other podcasters. I certainly am not, especially after three failed podcasts. So from now on, I will call myself a podcast wannabe or a “Podabe.”

Note
you gave us the doggos, but how's about addison cats?? what flavour of feline would each of them be?? :3c
Off this is even harder cause I know very few cat breeds and temperments but ill try based on a 10-minute Google search of the phrase cat breeds:
Surv: Maine Coon. This is very obvious. Surv is big, this cat is big and again I just love the idea of a big animal that's superimposing but is otherwise sort of complacent. It could be a force to reckon with but it would rather sleep just like Surv.
Banner: Ragdoll. Generic but popular, nothing special about them but also so many people imagine them as a standard cats. Sorta like Banner's outlook about things and themself along with it kinda looking a bit snooty to me despite how common it is.
Audi: Persian. This is simply because Audi to me embodies a lot of smooshed-face sorts of animals and animals with nice coats. Also apparently they are pretty affectionate towards their families and that's in line with Audi so go figure.
Vidie: Norwegian Forest Cat. Bro these things look cool and high and mighty and I think Vidie would own one named Dutchess or Strawberry Acai or some shit. It's got that face and build that tell me this thing is gonna knock over a vase and you'll apologize
Spamton: Devon or Cornish Rex. It would be obvious to make Spam a munchkin but I like the idea he is overall tiny, not just short legs. These cats are notorious for being small and I think their odd looks give them the same charm as Spamton.
Sorry if this doesn't feel as matching as the dog breeds but I realized I really don't know much about cats.

It was all just fine.' and 'Then Mago came back. “Soggy twink at the door for you.” “Didn't order one,” said Hannibal. Wild Card Podcast With Rachel Martin: Play The Game Of Questions…& Answers
Tumblr media
Wild Card With Rachel Martin is, on one hand, a typical NPR podcast -- restrained, thoughtful, reflective -- and, on the other hand, different, playful, probing to the point of noisy, and roguish. Part-interview, part-existential game show –  Wild Card from NPR has an interesting premise. Host Rachel Martin rips up the typical interview script and invites guests to play a game about life's biggest questions. Martin takes actors, artists and thinkers on a choose-your-own-adventure conversation that lets them open up about their fears, their joys and how they've built meaning from experience – all with the help of a very special deck of cards. In the first episode on May 1, 2024, Wild Card host Rachel Martin chatted with senior producer Lee Hale about why they wanted to make an existential interview-game podcast and how they came up with the Wild Card questions. It's a smart way to begin the podcast with an inside peek into the thought process surrounding the formation of the podcast.
NPR was smart to pick Rachel Martin for this assignment. Martin is sharp, funny, inquisitive, bold, and engaging. While listeners and critics can throw stones at the NPR podcast model, it has produced a slew of talented podcast hosts -- Audie Cornish, David Folkenflik, Brooke Gladstone, Liane Hansen, and Sam Sanders, to name a few.
Rachel Martin was a producer and reporter for KQED in San Francisco. In 2003, Martin was a freelance reporter in Afghanistan, also for NPR. From 2005 to 2007, she was foreign correspondent for NPR. In 2007, she covered the Virginia Tech shooting. In 2008, she was a correspondent for ABC News. Martin was one of the hosts of NPR's The Bryant Park Project, a New York-based experimental morning news program designed to attract a younger demographic. In 2010, Martin was National Security Correspondent for NPR, during which time she reported on the US' counterinsurgency efforts. She took over as host of Weekend Edition Sunday in 2012, shortly after longtime host Liane Hansen stepped down. She became a co-host of Morning Edition in 2016 when Renée Montagne stepped down. Furthermore, she left the show in early 2023. Having previously worked as the network's religion correspondent from 2006 to 2007, Martin is the creator of Enlighten Me, an NPR special series on religion, spirituality, and meaning.
In the second episode of the podcast, Rachel talked to Jenny Slate, known for her roles in Obvious Child, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On and Parks and Recreation. In the episode, Slade opened up about whether fate brought her to her husband, what she's sacrificed for motherhood, and what's so special about margarine and white bread sandwiches.
One of my favorites was with actor Chris Pine, who told Martin that his directorial debut, Poolman, got "obliterated" by critics. But the Star Trek and Wonder Woman star shares that the experience helped him reevaluate his desire for perfection. Pine also debated predestination with Rachel, reflects on the struggle to feel awe, and discusses his recurring childhood dreams of having tea with an elf in a tree.
The most recent episode welcomes director David Lynch, and, true to his reputation, the Twin Peaks director delves into oddities and weirdness.
NPR also has this subscription service called Wild Card+. You apparently receive access to bonus episodes, and you'll get to listen sponsor-free. If you're interested, you can learn more at plus.npr.org/wildcard.
Wild Card With Rachel Martin takes the interview process and adds a taste of whimsy, chance, gossipy revelations, and removes the standard talking points response often given by celebrities to interviewers.
Martin embraces the concept and has fun with it, as have the interviewed subjects so far. Check it out. It's refreshingly different.
