Athena: You should take a look out there and see if he's any calmer.
Ares: Why do I always have to be the one to look?
Athena: Just do it.
Ares: No. Dad's already annoyed. You do it.
Athena: Why should I?
Ares: Because he won't get angrier if he sees you.
Athena: What if we look together?
Ares: I guess.

Adopted by the Gods AU pt.4
Odysseus: *hiding under his bed cause he doesn’t want to go to sleep*
Athena: *carrying Diomedes who won’t let go of her* you know hiding isn’t effective when I can see your feet
Ody: *quickly pulls his feet under the bed*
Athena: there you go. *sets Diomedes down and pulls him out from under the bed* bedtime
Ody: no!
Athena: yes. You have to sleep
Ody: you don’t sleep!
Athena; irrelevant.
Diomedes: gods don’t sleep?
Athena: we do, I just don’t have a good sleep schedule
Ody; if you can stay awake for 7 days so can I!
Athena: you’d be dead. *tosses him on the bed* sleep time!
Ody: no!
Athena: yes! Diomedes—*sees he’s gone* where’d you go?
Dio: *on Athena’s bed*
Athena: I gotta put a bell on you!
Ody; if he gets to sleep in mamas bed so do I! *climbs up with him*
Athena; neither of you are sleeping in my bed
Ody: why not? I have before
Athena: because I have other work to do and you’ll wake up when I finally come to bed.
Ody:🥺
Diomedes: *sees him making puppy eyes and does the same*🥺
Athena;……….fuck fine!
Ody and Dio; yay!
Athena; now both of you go to sleep
Ody; can we have a story?
Athena; uh once upon a time there are two boys who went to sleep, the end
Ody; that is a horrible story
Athena: what, That’s your favorite story. *tucks them in*
Dio: why don’t you sleep?
Athena: I do sleep.
Dio: earlier you said you didn’t.
Athena: I said I have a bad sleep schedule. And that’s only because I have a lot of work to do
Dio: oh.
Athena: *blows out the candle by her bed* good night boys
Ody: night mama!
Dio: night ma—Athena.
Athena: *smiles and goes off to her study*

It’s odd how Athena is Zeus’s favorite but she doesn’t seem to like him back, not only did she participate in Hera’s coup against him but even in the Iliad she was upset with him.

Homeric Hymn to Athena 28
I begin to sing of Pallas Athene, the glorious goddess, bright-eyed, inventive, unbending of heart, pure virgin, saviour of cities, courageous, Tritogeneia.
From his awful head wise Zeus himself bare her arrayed in warlike arms of flashing gold, and awe seized all the gods as they gazed.
But Athena sprang quickly from the immortal head and stood before Zeus who holds the aegis, shaking a sharp spear:
great Olympus began to reel horribly at the might of the bright-eyed goddess, and earth round about cried fearfully, and the sea was moved and tossed with dark waves, while foam burst forth suddenly:
the bright Son of Hyperion stopped his swift-footed horses a long while, until the maiden Pallas Athene had stripped the heavenly armour from her immortal shoulders. And wise Zeus was glad.
And so hail to you, daughter of Zeus who holds the aegis! Now I will remember you and another song as well.

Finished my devotional piece to Athena, and of course, it had to be the most challenging one so far. I had to redo the outline three times, and completely scrap it twice.

I’ve been looking for pose ideas for Athena. I took these cute screenshots from one episode of Disney’s Hercules the Animated Series.

(The anniversary of Pallas's death)
Athena (quietly sitting near the sea)
Ares (approaching her)
Athena: Did you come here to fight?
Ares: I heard some mortals talking about democracy. It sounded odd.
Athena: Is that really why you're here?
Ares (sitting down): You normally can't stop talking about stuff like that. I figured you could let me know if they were telling the truth or not.
Athena: Are you trying to distract me?
Ares: Can't I just feel like listening to one of your lectures?
Athena:...thanks, Ares.
Ares (glancing away): That doesn't sound like democracy talk to me.
Athena (smiles softly and begins)

Odysseus and Diomedes adopted by Athena AU pt.3
Athena: (goes looking for Ody and Dio) Odysseus! Diomedes! Fuck where did they get ti now?
Ody: (pops out of the pushes) hi mama!
Athena: ah there you are! Where’s your brother?
Ody: (pulls him out of the bushes too)
Athena: should’ve guessed. Come on, get out of there. Time for dinner
Dio: gods eat?
Athena: yes, but it’s more of a pleasantry than a necessity unlike mortals
Dio: (not used to big words yet)…….what?
Athena: gods eat for fun, not because we have to unlike humans.
Dio: ah, okay
Ody: you’ll get used to mom using big words (starts running to the kitchen)
Athena: jeez child slow down! Gods you act like i don’t feed you!
Dio:….(awkward bean so just holds Athena’s hand)
Athena: (smiled) come on. (Picks him up and follows after Odysseus)
Ody: (already digging into his dinner)
Hermes: (chuckles) damn sis don’t you feed this kid?
Athena: you know I do. (Sets Diomedes down)
Hermes: hey short stack!
Dio:….(hides behind Athena)
Hermes: okay so you’re the shy sibling, got it!
Athena: give him time, he’s been through hell today. (Looks down at Dio) go eat.
Dio:…(goes over beside odysseus)
Hermes: (hands him a plate) dig in kid. You looked starved half to death.
Dio: thanks.. (eats)
Hermes: (ruffles his hair) welcome to the family….whats his name?
Athena: Diomedes
Hermes: Diomedes!
Dio: (breaks his bread in half and hands half to Hermes and half to Athena)
Hermes: (confused) you don’t have to share kid, you need it more than us
Dio: its offerings….I figured we didn’t need to burn them or put them on alters since you two are right here
Hermes:……Thea can I have him?
Athena: no! Get your own kid!
Hermes: I have a kid but that ones better
Dio: (whispers to Odysseus) did I do something?
Ody: (whispers) no, uncle Hermes did the same with me when I stole his snacks
Dio:……this place is weird
Athena: you’ll get used to it

In art and literature, Pegasus (and by extension Chrysaor) was born from Medusa’s head fully formed, but wouldn’t it be funny if Pegasus and Chrysaor were born as babies so Perseus and Athena had to take some accountability for orphaning their monstrous cousins? Idk I just thought this would be amusing.
Also in my retelling, Perseus sneaks up on Medusa while she’s asleep and her sisters aren’t home, but he slips up and Medusa wakes up and they fought.
