SAW V (2008)

This movie has some low ratings but from what I remembered of it I really liked this film the first time I watched it and I remembered a bunch of the scenes from it (which also marks a pretty good movie to me). I distinctly remember the game in this film and the twist at the end (when they play the SAW theme music and it is all intense), and that is before I rewatched. This installment ties in with the other movies while also having its own take. I would say this is a great addition to the franchise and totally worth the ride.

I don’t like it when the games aren’t fair and that is a stretch to begin with when most of the games end in murder but we start out with a guy who plays the game and still loses which isn't fair. It takes me back to when Amanda was trying to lead the charge but she was just a murderer so what does that make our new Jigsaw? Agent Strahm is given instructions that would save his life and he says to John’s corpse, “Fuck you.” But truly, why don’t the cops take this killer more seriously as someone who is very smart and very lethal? In Silence of the Lambs they have so many precautions on Hannibal Lecter because they KNOW he is smart and he STILL kills people and escapes. Also I’m happy to report the child trapped in a closet from the end of SAW III has finally been saved.

I also hate that it is so obvious that the victims need to work together and that doesn’t happen so our first girl gets killed due to the others selfishness. Maybe I am just worried that would be me, I’m trying to be polite and then I end up dying. (That is a weird thing to worry about but I suppose if there are people out there killing with kindness I’m not so far gone.) We find out the guy who died in the first Jigsaw trap had brutally murdered Hoffman’s sister so he got off pretty easy all things considered (and it was Hoffman's first attempt at being Jigsaw (unsanctioned)). 

Back to our little guinea pigs, this film is particularly fun because of the way the game functions, each new room has a new task and a bomb that goes off if they don’t work quick enough. Simple but very effective! They basically go down one person each new room they enter though (idiots). “Big fuckin’ whoops” is the understatement of the century when Brit discovers they all could have survived each trial if they worked together. (You might recognize Brit as Rita from Dexter!) The last trial is bloodletting and (surprise) if all five participants were still there this wouldn’t have been nearly as bad. BUT it is only the last two leftovers so they have to work together (duh) and maybe not die? Jury is still out, they lost a TON of blood.

While all that is going on we find out how Hoffman met John (through his poor excuse of a Jigsaw trap) and it really ties up a lot of the loose ends from every movie up until this point (one of the most important being that Hoffman was the muscle behind the operation this whole time, which makes a lot of sense). Strahm is hot on Hoffman's case and leads himself right into a trap… and then he doesn’t follow the rules and he dies. BUT it is so much WORSE than that because Hoffman uses this as an excuse to frame Strahm for all the Jigsaw killings that happened after John was dead AND for being Jigsaw's accomplice on the inside. WACK. I remember the first time I saw that twist and I was jumping around, they got him GOOD (they got ME good). This film is fun and it goes back to the heart of why we love the SAW movies in the first place. Totally recommend.

Quiet, indifferent, and with a preference for isolation, it's hard getting to know A and that's by design. A has always been in their own world, choosing to communicate with music and songwriting. After getting their heartbroken by their first and only love, A has decided to redirect all their focus on their budding music career. Right now, A makes their money writing songs for other upcoming artists, but A is determined to make it on their own.

A has no desire to find love again, especially not after how badly their ex hurt them. Getting cheated on is one thing, they won't let it happen again.

A is 25 years old and both Atlas and Athena are 5'11. They tend to stick to dark colors and more comfortable wear; oversized shirts and sweats, slouchy sweaters. Black frayed jeans is their definition of dressing up.

Don't expect A to open up so easily, or at all. Getting vulnerable and letting their walls down is the last thing on their mind.

I understand Freddie's anger but like Bobby wasn't the one who set the fire, his own father did like hello?

When it comes to Bathena's house fire, I think Athena is going to suspect Amir and he's going to point her to the cartel. She's going to start investigating them and it won't be them either. It will be someone from a previous season that we're not even thinking of (and I really doubt it's Freddie Costas). That's what I think. But we'll see.
