None of the above! SV DM is the doc title of what is a Scum Villain au inspired by Dungeon Meshi. The basic concept is Binghe is coping with being in the Endless Abyss by cooking the monsters he fights and kills there and making a recipe book out of the ones he likes. I haven’t decided yet if I want to make this a full on Dungeon Meshi au by having the Endless Abyss be a part of a dungeon or something or just keep it canon-adjacent. This au is marinating in the planning stages so unfortunately I have no snippets to share for it.

thanks, I like that! I think it does a nice job of delineating between feeding fic into an ai and using/editing the output verses using ai based tools.

I took at first stab at editing my blanket permission policy. I have a feeling it's going to be a work in progress

considering the prevalence of machine learning in fandom spaces, I am considering updating my blanket permission statement to exclude any machine-made works. (including machine output which is then edited by a person). ao3 considers these to be fanworks but I do not.

I don't consider using machine learning for personal use to necessarily be bad. I tend to think it's in poor taste but as long as no one is publicly posting any machine output based on my fic. I don't consider anyone else's personal use to be my business.

I'm still toying around with the potential wording of an updated blanket permission statement. I'd like to make it clear that I don't consider machine learning output to qualify as a work "inspired by" my fic but at the same time I don't want translators (or anyone else) to feel like I'm saying they cannot use these types of tools at all to support their creation.

Renegade 2023 Typeset Exchange: Achievement Unlocked by The Feels Whale

So for those of you following along with my @renegadepublishing typesetting exchange saga, I typeset a social media MDZS fic! Another MDZS fic! A pinch hit SVSS fic! Another shorter MDZS fic for the pinch hit (do it half-size, smaller is quicker, suuuure...) And then one more for @admiraltypress. Because I could.

I wasn't truly planning on doing this one. Not really. I'd sent off a request for permissions, hadn't heard back yet, and because it was a pinch hit, the timeline was pretty tight.

The typesets were due Monday. But Saturday night, I got a message back from @thefeelswhale! Sunday typeset speed run? Sunday typeset speed run!

Achievement Unlocked is a post-series SVSSS fic where Shen Yuan ends up back in his old body in our world, and Luo Binghe is pulled after him, and accosted by The System with a mission. Or, as the summary goes, "That one where Shen Yuan and Luo Binghe don’t realize they’re in a domestic fluff bonus chapter." This is fun. SO much fun, with some emotional depth that will sneak up on you, and a couple of plot twists that are delightfully bonkers as the source material.

This was a Big Bang fic, and I had a really lovely piece of fan art by Ataratah to include, and pulled the colour tones from there. Circuit board graphics are all public domain stock art, and the scene breaks are designed to mimic the typing dots in a text message. I am supremely happy with how this turned out, ESPECIALLY given the time crunch.

And that's how I ended up making five typesets for an event where I was only obligated to make one.

.... okay, technically, it's seven. Because I did the bound book exchange too, and made two books for that one. But I'll have actual physical book photos to share for that one soon, plus the saga of the Great Textblock Disaster of Late 2023. (It was all okay in the end!)

Thinking about an SVSSS AU where, after Shen Qingqiu self-destructs, Luo Binghe does successfully resurrect his dead shizun.

But it's the wrong shizun.

Shen Jiu doesn't remember anything after his actual death, so the last thing he knew, Luo Binghe was his much-loathed teenage disciple, Liu Qingge hated his guts, and his reputation was maybe not the best in the cultivation world but he certainly hadn't been outed as a mass-murderer or embroiled in some twisted, perceived love affair with his least liked student, who it turns out is also some kind of over-powered demon. He doesn't adjust well to the developments that occurred while he was out of operation.

Meanwhile Luo Binghe at first thinks it's reverse amnesia or something, that whatever memories SQQ lost before have been regained, but also that he's lost other memories in the meanwhile. Struggles a bit with the idea that he apparently became the new traumatic thing that his shizun wanted to forget. And then he starts to think that it might be worse than that, and that his shizun has Come Back Wrong, because he does know what Shen "Qingqiu" is like when he's stressed out and furious and struggling, and it's still not like this vitriolic snake of a man he's somehow ended up with.

Eventually, Luo Binghe pieces together that something else must have happened when his shizun qi deviated all those years ago. That this soul is just flat-out not his shizun's soul, but it is also clearly Shen Qingqiu's, which means that Luo Binghe's actual shizun was some kind of spirit that took possession of Shen Qingqiu's body for a while. This is intensely distressing news, although not for any of the normal reasons -- how can he resurrect Shizun if he can't even use this body to call back his soul?!

Meanwhile Mushroom Shen Yuan is trying (and failing) to talk himself out of going to just like, check on Binghe. Quickly. Before he finalizes his whole disappearing-into-the-horizon thing. Which he is definitely absolutely going to do. Once he's just, y'know, sure that Binghe is okay now.
