This art is pretty representative of my growth as an artist this year, given I officially started my art journey January 2024! It's insanely wild how much I've grown and improved since then; comparing this version to my very first doodles for au is uh... very illuminating, to say the least.

Starting off with our main cast and their dragons! We've got:

Ling -> Lan Fan (albino night fury) ♀️

Ed -> Sunbane (deadly nadder) ♀️

Al -> Socks (prickleboggle) ♂️

Winry -> Sledge (egg biter) ♂️

Paninya -> Rumble & Tumble (hideous zippleback) ♂️

Russell -> Victoria (devilish dervin) ♀️

Most of the gang are from the diverse village of Xing, but the Resembool trio are sanctuary-seekers after a violent dragon raid destroyed Resembool when they were kids and the Rockbells and Trisha died in the aftermath. Winry still had Granny to raise her in their new home of Xing, but Ed & Al, alone, were adopted by the Curtises. They regard Izumi as their mother over the years and eventually take on her family name at 16 (hyphenated. Elric-Curtis) and get her creed tattooed at 18.

Ling is technically the heir to Xing's Chiefdom, but he has no actual interest in the position, not like Mei does. She might be his younger half-sister but she's more commonly regarded as the "heir". This allows Ling the freedom to fuck off to the Edge without consequences lmao.

(He doesn't lose a leg in this au so much as he gets horribly scarred by the fire on his arms; Lan Fan still loses a tailfin. Ed loses his leg protecting Al from a wild dragon as kids.)

Now, as for the dragon hunters... those are obv the homunculi.

Envy serves as early stage Dagur; Greed is INTRODUCED as Ryker, kidnapping Sunbane from Ed and everything (great first impression there), but later becomes post-redemption Dagur thanks to proving his trustworthiness to Ed in "Enemy of my Enemy"; Lust serves as Heather, Greed's sister and Ed's close friend; and Bradley is Viggo, matching Ling's wits in an eerie parallel that steadily tests Ling's temperance.

(Greed and Lust relatively match the gang's ages. Lust was 19 when she met the 16 y/o gang; she never made any advances like Heather, but she was still sus enough that Ed disliked her at first. Envy's—the same age as the gang probably, tbh, given their whole asshole energy. Bradley's still old tho. Ha.)

Team Mustang come in as the Defenders of the Wing, the Riders' first allies, and the Wing Maidens... are the Wing Maidens. Honestly, they're exactly the same but Rose and Noah are part of them lmao. Ed particularly takes a liking to them, because they serve as his genderqueer awakening! He realizes during "Snotlout's Angels", while posing as a woman to save Russell's ass from becoming sacred soup, that he doesn't mind being perceived as a woman and being called she/her. He still personally perceives himself as a man and as he/him, but if his friends want to use she/her? Call him a woman? Call a friendly "have fun, ladies!" at his, Rose, and Noah's collective backs? He doesn't mind at all.

Russell is weird about it at first but mostly out of ignorance. For all his jackassery, he is still a friend and does his (awkward) best to understand Ed's deal. He's also def dealing with unrequited feelings for Ed.

(Mustang is also weird about this, but that's just because he's old and very very confused with the youth. The rest of the team sans Hawkeye is quite fond of calling Ed "little lady" [akin to their canon "boss"] in light of his new gender expression though, and Ed is actually pretty pleased by the nickname. A rare instance where a "short" synonym doesn't irk him.)

Despite his status as a Rider, Ed's actually still pretty distrustful of wild dragons; they did still cause the loss of his leg as a kid. Nevertheless, he's always the first to support Ling in his crazy dragon training endeavors. He carries Izumi's spear as his favored weapon, handed down to him as a gift for dragon killing training initially. He also used to carry a basic but beloved knife that he sadly loses during an episode. Ling makes up for this loss by making his betrothal gift a knife, knowing Ed would prefer a practical gift in the first place.

He forges it himself, as Fu's old apprentice and now a capable blacksmith of his own. He was always capable, technically, but he was also pretty often distracted by his big fat crush on Ed when they were kids, so... he's got a few accidents on public record. This laughably leads to Ed randomly being banned from the forge sometimes just so Ling can focus on his work. Context that is not given to Ed until years later when he and Ed are courting.

And, speaking of courting! Ed used to wear Trisha's kransen as a kid, uncaring that it was "for girls" (insert transfemme egg meme) and that he was judged for it. It was his mothers so he was gonna wear it, damn it. Ling was one of the rare few to never judge Ed for this. When Ed loses his kransen to Envy or sth in a Riders of Berk episode, Ling secretly goes through hell to get it back for him. When he hands it back to Ed, he asks no explanation as to why Ed "cares so much about a girl's accessory" (*cough* Russell *cough*), and simply says, if it's important to Ed then that's all he needs to know.

Ling, oblivious mf that he is, is shocked when he earns a spontaneous hug for this trouble.

Ed later takes to wearing the kransen just around his wrist. He says it's because he's much more confident in his place in Xing now, but he never mentions that it's partially cuz... he feels whatever he has with Ling doesn't really count as "unmarried" anymore.

But Ling doesn't need to know that for a long, long time.

Ed and Russell are basically a one-to-one of Astrid and Snotlout, only Russell is a little less of a dickhead than Riders of Berk Snotlout; he puts his foot in his mouth cuz he's a dumb teenager with a dumb unrequited crush. He and Ed generally refer to each other by last name (friendly rivalry and all), but they've been known to use first names in genuine moments. Russell also notably asks if Ed would like to be called by "Curtis" after he takes on Izumi's name, at which Ed shakes his head and says it's fine to keep things as they are between them.

They've come a long way since their relationship in "Fright of Passage", when Russell, like Snotlout, initially took free jabs at Ed's family name because everyone knows the story of when Izumi Curtis froze against the Flightmare. Izumi's long gotten over those rumors, but Ed was determined to regain her honor and predictably lost his temper with Russell at that comment. That was largely their relationship before Russell got his shit together.

Ed and Al are often confused for twins by the hunters, and they're close as ever on the daily. However, their biggest fight happens when they discover that Hohenheim made the Dragon Eye. Ed and Al have two different reactions at this news: Al is astounded that Hoho was a hunter and is disappointed at the fact... and Ed couldn't care less. Ex-hunter or not, the guy is still a deadbeat.

Al is of a much more forgiving opinion of Hoho, having been two years younger than Ed and thus remembering less of the man who abandoned them and their mother.

They get into an argument over this. The entire gang is stunned.

The fight is bad enough that, in "A Ruff Transition", when a baby razorwhip (Moonshade!! <3) takes a liking to Ed on Wing Maiden Island and he has to train her for a bit, the gang actually wonders if Ed will abandon them for the Maidens. Since he seemed to have so much fun with Rose, Noah, and the rest, nothing like his previous anger and stress after his and Al's fight.

Ling is the only one who doesn't think this, reassuring them calmly that Ed just needs time to cool down and have fun. And he's proven correct! Ed's hurt to discover the gang had doubted him so easily, but Ling hadn't, and the aftermath of that episode leaves things between Ed and co. (sans Ling) a little strained until Al can apologize.

(Moonshade later tracks down Ed in a separate future episode, and she becomes a resident of the Edge, much to the male Riders' initial misfortune lmao.)

Aaaaand that's where my notes weirdly end. I've got a ton more "episode" ideas but that's all the coherent stuff. Bless you if you read this far. As a treat, have a useless fun fact: Ed's dragon names are all based on poisons. Sunbane -> henbane, and Moonshade -> nightshade. Winry's dragon name is an obv pun about sledgehammers, Al's name is a repurposed cat one, yes the gang makes fun of him for this, and Russell just likes classic names and Victoria is a classy name for a classy lady, Elric, can it.

!!spoiler warning for all three of the numbered xenoblade games!! mostly the first two actually. i imagine if any reads this, it will be a curious pjsk fan who doesn’t really care about xenoblade, but proceed at your own risk.

i have ideas for all of the pjsk characters i just don’t have the patience to draw them all out.

i wanted all the natural pairs set up by the game to be one agnian/one kevesi so they could be ouroboros. they’re also probably all off-seers or wannabe off-seers because that’s really the only music in aionios.

i’ll at least talk about vbs here.

toya is the off-seer for a kevesi colony. he has a pretty high percentage of high entia blood, so he still has pretty big headwings (compared to others in 3, not pure blood high entia) but they match his hair color. for some reason his dad feels like the type who would have been a high entia blood purist, but toya made it to aionios somehow so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

akito is agnian and would become toya’s ouroboros partner. he’s also an off-seer, but like mio he probably got drafted into the role due to his prowess when he really just wanted to be a great fighter and make it to his homecoming. he’s gormotti and has the cat ears. also face stripes. they might just be a nia thing but i think they’re fun. i imagine you don’t see his core crystal much like taion, but he could have a flesh eater’s core crystal.

if i’m remembering correctly, agnian colonies commonly have two off-seers, so an would be in the same colony as akito. i feel like she definitely has to have the fire hair like sena and brighid. like she’s already got the gradient, it’s perfect. i don’t imagine her having a peculiarly shaped core crystal, but she could have ether lines like sena as well. she probably is more naturally in tune with off-seeing than akito, but he has the edge in combat. they probably has a similar relationship to canon where they poke fun at each other and argue, but they take care of each other when things get rough.

for kohane i think she comes from a different kevesi colony than toya. her colony’s off-seer just died unexpectedly, so kohane took up the mantle as the new off-seer for the colony. maybe toya’s colony is nearby so he helped train her like crys with noah. i know there’s like a kevesi off-seer school/training program but i don’t care. kohane is just a basic homs like noah. an is her ouroboros partner, too

as far as combat stuff, i think kohane is an attacker, an would be an attacker, but in more of a debuff-y way, akito a dodge tank (i picture him similarly to mio), and toya could be a healer.

i think the flutes are customized to the off-seer in game? so everyone gets a custom one + a charm. toya’s charm is a wing but i might change it later. akito’s is a lightning bolt. an’s is a star. not sure about kohane yet either but maybe she’ll just have a ring similar to noah since she’s new to off-seeing.

also thinking toya maybe caught the eye of a consul while in off-seer and was taught violin. i’m not sure if off-seer flutes are made specifically somehow that allows the special motes to rise, but i say toya’s violin is customized and it can raise motes.

maybe the way toya’s dad is worked in is that he’s the consul (tho not literally toya’s bio dad then) that teaches toya violin, and then toya has a whole arc about coming to terms with the fact consuls are bad because he was close to one.

he’s temporarily at kohane’s colony teaching her when the whole ouroboros thing happens.

toya’s instrument could be worked into his blade like glimmer, but i kinda like the idea that it’s an actual instrument not made for battle in anyway. and it means he gets to stand over a battlefield and play a haunting violin melody.

- tbh I like a lot of Jo ships. Jock joeather jomaria,, ngl lately I’ve been in a joeather mood. Her x any girl is always a classic. The only guy I can ship her with is brick really 😭 I think they have really good chemistry. And I am a sucker for rivalries + it’s been a childhood OTP. I low key thought they were gonna end up together when I first watched s4.

Now I could write essays on joeather forever. Their rivalry could’ve been something great but the writers were awful. I think Jo should kiss her enemies

- yeah sorry I’m a duncney enjoyer and I do not care how toxic they were. Adds flavor. Heathney is excellent too. It would be easy to say Dick is Gansey. They have the same name, are ~leaders~, and are canonically the prettiest princess in any room. I get it and maybe in the Titans you'd be right, but here, Bruce is Gansey. He is the one with the quest! He is the one driving things forwards and bringing the others along. He's the one with the family name and the family wealth and the family home. He went through something traumatic as a child that irrevocably changed him, fueled his intense guilt and obsession. He brought the group together, and yet feels left behind by them. Someone who cares deeply about the people immediately around him, and yet will not stop pursuing his other goals even if it's hurting them or himself. Obsessed, I think, with proving that he deserves to be here.

Which means that Dick...is Adam Parrish. Like. The constant search for independence. The perfectionism. The bad relationship with his father that forced him to need to be his own man. (Sorry real Bruce but you sucked in batman #416) Loving someone so much and yet always thinking the worst of them. Refusing to be a burden and yet accepting any yoke that comes his way. The intensity of the performance, of pretending to be who you wish you were for the people you care about. Taking on responsibilities because there is literally no other choice, nothing else you could do. Picking the best of your options and knowing that none for them are to rest easy. Valuing freedom so much and giving up your literal body for the quest.

PLUS (less perfect but): Cass as Henry Cheng (and not just bc they are both asian do not look at me like that) Narrative outsider who was watching from afar and put themselves in the narrative. Was molded by shady parent's shady business practices. Was put in a situation as a child they should not have had to endure, which challenged their beliefs and shaped them anew. And maybe like, later Tim as Noah, a bright, fun, young kid on a skateboard who gets himself involved in something too big for him and is undeniably damaged by it. Tim isn't betrayed by someone the way Noah is, but he's kind of...betrayed by the narrative, in a way? Betrayed by the adventure that he thought he was getting. Too clever for his own good, but sometimes naive about people. Lowkey a mirror that lets people see whatever they want to see lol

(I don't see super clear parallels for anyone else lol but I did have a fun time with the thought of Damian as Blue (short/down to fight/has another family/environmentalist/kind of feels fundamentally alienated as someone who is not like everyone else/wears green))

the rockers: actually more insuferrable than i thought they'd be, well, spud at least. rock was okay. i mean i liked them both! don't get me wrong! they just had some annoying moments. again, especially spud. of the two i definitely prefer rock. they were a fun duo overall, i loved when they did air guitar every single second of their waking lives. i hated to see them go mostly because of how unfair their elimination was. you're telling me you had so many non-elimination rounds and then just threw in a double elimination? man that's rough. i DID cheer when they almost left but didn't though. i think that counts for something

father and son. i liked them more than i expected. they definitely don't make the favorite list but their gimmick was fun. i don't get why people hate the dad - or why they ship him with don, even for my standards it's kinda random (i respect it tho. love me some old man yaoi) - he was so fun. just your average wannabe cool dad. kinda reminded me of my own dad which might be why i liked him lol. junior was also pretty okay. i really liked when they reunited after the whole waterfall thing :)

reality tv pros. okay, i'll say it: FUCK NOAH. they derailed his character so hard in this. wdym he wouldn't even high five owen? help him get through his fear of flying just a bit? not let him help with relationship advice? oh, and that's another thing. nemma genuinely sucks. i don't get it. it's not even good in canon. i mean they were kinda fine at the start, when owen and kitty were talking about getting them together i thought for sure i'd like them, but then they just became weirdly lovey-dovey and just.. yuck. nah. not to stereotype but emma is dressed like a lesbian and should actually have been a repressed lesbian. she reminds me of myself in a lot of ways. but anyways back to noah and owen, i'll come back to emma... owen was funny as always, i love the guy. noah was... something. yeah i didn't like noah. i actually despised noah in this. he was at his worst. but i can't expect the TD writers to treat their characters decently so at this point i'm keeping my tears to myself.

the goths: one of my favorite duos to grace this show. just... their whole bit was so fun. i loved them so much. they were amazing. they deserved to get further than the... others. as previously stated for the step brothers, ennui is only higher because i like his character design more, and also his whole bit with loki was more pronounced than crimson's with loki and i liked him for it. still love crimson, and i really like them both equally, ennui is just. hehe character design :3

the daters/haters: shut the fuck up. actually? just die. especially stephanie. ryan is just boring and hogs the spotlight a lot, whatever caleb 0.5 BUT STEPHANIE??? oh my god FUCKKK that girl bro. one of the worst characters on this show AND THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING OKAY. just. fuck her. okay moving on

the best friends: ugh. just. ugh. so annoying. their whole gimmick was annoying. okay marinette and adrien 2.0 like i wasn't even rooting for them at all. when they kissed i was like... oh great CAN WE MOVE ONNNNNNNNNN??? yeah sorry i despised these two. prileb but worse. at least prileb had potential. these two were just doomed from the start by the narrative

the sisters: i expected to like emma more. i still like her, i just expected not to fucking hate her entire "omg noah i love you sooo X3 and i HATE my sister ugh >:(" thing. like. why was she like that. why do the most lesbian looking women on this show get the most mid boyfriends (i love you noah NOT IN RR THO YOU CAN DIE IN RR sorry. sorry) but yeah kitty is definitely my favorite sister. their dynamic got better after noah left, and was better before nemma was forced down our throats. i loved their bits THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH NOAH and overall they definitely could have made the favorites list IF. the LARPers. definitely some... interesting characters. they're the prime example of total drama's flat and boring personalities, most of which were distributed in pahkitew island. i'm kinda mad that, of all those horribly mid and boring characters, we got the most mid and boring one back. hell i'd have preferred dave there, he'd had given us some substance to the story. i don't even remember the girl's name and i don't wanna google it. forgettable, but definitely annoying for as long as they were on screen.

the tennis rivals. good, but overhyped i think. at least, i've seen a lot of people talk about them and ship them, especially since their cameo in the reboot. i for sure thought they'd last longer because of that. i really liked their banter but they don't come close to my favorites. i will not be calling any of their agents. sorry :(

the geniuses. yeah they definitely existed! i mean their characters were fine and i really don't have anything against them, plus their concept is kinda fun. but i absolutely despise courtney's character and hearing her voice come out of another contestant's mouth made me hate her immediately. Doing the tdi simulator and i want to share some highlights rn (which are mostly abt Cody)

- Owen was the first to get eliminated

- Leshawna has gotten close to getting eliminated FOUR TIMES already

- Cody is the best player in Screaming Gophers and is in two alliances: One just with Izzy and one with literally everyone else EXCEPT Noah (whos the only person that disliked him so far)

Ok, I'm rank the Xenoblade 3 protags from favorite to least now.

1. Mio

Cutely presses the dodge button. Cutely presses the dodge button. Cutely presses the dodge button. Best class. I liked the part where she cutely pressed the dodge button against the concept of aging by body swapping with herself. We all talk about chapter 5 but chapter 4 was the mio moment that made me cry. Mio whyyyy. Fucking iconic. Definitely the character I was most invested in getting a happy ending. Also. She's a cat. Fucking perfection.

2. Eunie

Yass Eunie's the bass. Feather's are a bitch to dry. Queen's knees. Up, up up up up. The Chad who responds to "no more killing ppl" and immediately goes "ok.. but why?" The ultimate character. I wish I was a fraction of Eunie's power. Let Eunie say Fuck. Tragically I didn't actually care for her much beyond her status as a meme queen, but consider: Eunie is the ultimate meme and I enjoyed every moment she was on screen. I also really like the idea that Eunie isn't naturally a healer but learned the role after Joran's death (I forget whether that's a theory or straight up canon but I do really enjoy that). I also have to say that a lot of her high affinity classes are a ton of fun to play as. Very satisfying to watch Eunie fucking eviscerated someone off the face of the aionios. Pretty funny how both Eunie and Taion would run you over with an ambulance.

3. Noah

Def my favorite protagonist. He's so soft spoken. Also pretty funny that his magic laser sword is literally just a sheath for a really sharp katana. Pretty good of him to be the first Xenoblade protagonist to canonically have sex (consider that we didn't get proof of Rex fucking until after we learned about Noah fucking). I like how he's the quiet and thoughtful type, has the best romantic subplot in the series easily (or at least the only one I gave a shit about). I will say that N was a pretty underwhelming antagonist. Man's backstory brings me to tears, yet I still just don't care for a single moment he's on screen (except for "Mio wHYYY" memes those can stay, thank you Henry McEntire for your contributions to this series). As far as protagonist powers go, Shulk sees the future, Cross is mute, Rex gets all the girls, and Noah turns into Evangelion. I think the only conclusion here is to stick Noah and Shulk in a pit and make them fight for who gets to be the Protagonist tm. Also, Noah wears his hair similar to me, therefore he's hot. +10 points for that.

4. Taion

Someone should make the virgin/chad meme with Taion's class in gameplay vs Taion's class in the story. Like, every other character in story is using their class like they would in gameplay, but then Monolith had negative ideas how to translate a swarm of paper airplanes into tangible gameplay. So Taion's class feels very bad to use. That said, love his banter with Eunie. Also love that one H2H where he says he wears practical clothing, then Eunie calls his scarf lame. Poor man acts like a kicked puppy lol. Also has the vibes of that kid who lost chess against Eunie because she ate all the pieces when he wasn't looking. Tries to be the adult of the group, is still, like, 9 years old. Energy of being the one kid in the group project who's trying to lead the other squad of 8 year olds in any given direction. 10/10.

5. Sena

Ngl, I do not relate to her on a single level and also may or may not have forgotten half the scenes about her. Not the character's fault, I just wasn't paying attention. It does feel like Sena's arc wasn't treated with as much importance as everyone else's tho. Also I really didn't get to know Shaniya well enough for her to act as an effective foil. Tho I do think it's quite funny that Sena is Brighid's kid since Brighid is all elegant and shit while Sena just beats you to death with a really big stick. Definitely the character I imagine to have the most different personality between Alrest and Aionios (mostly because she's so concerned about fitting in and stuff). Tho her arc about learning to express herself just comes across as false due to her in-game dialogue contradicting that (and that being the dialogue players will have bludgeoned into their skull). Kinda hard to see Sena as someone who's insecure and feels the need to fit into the group when she shouts "I'm the Girl with the Gall" every other encounter.

6. Lanz

Feels too much like Reyn but not as iconic. Most interesting part of his character was the guilt he felt over Joran's death because he was a dick to Joran and never got to apologize but then Joran sacrificed himself to save Lanz anyways because Joran felt like his life was less important than Lanz's. Sadly, all of this good shit got completely derailed when Joran showed up as an antagonist. Kinda sucks that the villain writing ruined Lanz for me. Lanz's best moments were definitely in his ascension quest. I liked it when he showed his no shit side. Sadly never found a comfortable role for him in the gameplay because evasion tanks are way more fun than block tanks and I don't particularly love any of the classes Lanz specializes in (why does he keep getting S affinity healer classes when his healing power is literally shit?) Tho I will say that I love seeing Miyabi and Fiona class become w i d e on him.

your gilgamesh redesign with proto-gil moveset/powerset...is just perfect,i hate that fact that canon gilgamesh noble phantasm is just some references to babylon and don't have anything to do with his legends even tho Noble phantasm is supposed to be literally the embodiment of a figure popular acts and the epic of gilgamesh is most famous with its relation with the arc of Noah story and i hate the fact that gilgamesh was stripped of his historical importance.

Unfortunately the original "sin" of 2004 FSN Gilgamesh characterization and design and literally anything else is that he was designed and written to be -by Nasu's own admission- a "mysterious and easy to hype villain that acts and works as foil to my two protagonists" first and foremost.

The "this is a reinterpretation of X ancient figure from this specific place and time" part of his character was pretty low on the authors priorities.

This difference in priorities snowballed everything else.

He's a misogynistic rapist-to-be even when he's supposed to be summoned past-Epic because "Fate" is the most classic romance of the three routes and having a horrible person as "rival" for the heroine's heart is easy and favours the mc's growing closer.

He dons a full suit of golden armor that makes no cultural or temporal sense whatsoever because Nasu loved the 1984 game "Tower of Druaga" in which a golden-armored knight called Gilgamesh had adventures (a game that was incredibly successful and influential in JP).

His attack is named after a city he has no connection to because -still by Nasu's own admission- "no one in Japan had heard about Uruk while 'Babylon' at least evoked something" (same reason why the sword is named after the Babylonian/Akkadian version of the god and not the Sumerian one and the main attack has the name its has: the Enuma Elish is famous)

He owns everything (and especially weapons) because this lets the writer put him at odds with the protagonist who is "nothing" and whose creation of weapons signifies much more than "amass everything because I can".

He gets a nearly invincible sword even though his weapons of choice in the Epic were his hands, a bow and an axe (and both weapons are named to boot!) because he and his weapon need to be a foil to King Arthur wielding an Excalibur wanked to high heavens.

And so on and so forth, you get the gist.

Since then Nasu has kept backtracking when possible and adding more and more till his Gilgamesh became recognizable as "actual reinterpretation of the original figure" in 2013 (with Fate/Extra CCC's release) and then, of course, in 2016 with FGO's 7th Singularity release.

But the basis are the basis and at no point could TM/Nasu walk back on what had been established in 2004, at least not the more "visual" aspects and so here we are now with this oddly designed character.

I don't know if this show would've worked as well if it was on Netflix. But since Disney is much stricter with stuff, this show was probably one of their more brave ones.

I really liked it.

but okay i think in a world where we go prue/cole paige/leo there’s not so much a need to save mark as he wouldn’t be used as a plot point so much as like just a straight love interest so we wouldn’t go dead man dating we could instead have someone who’s a mom of two young girls or something (because three is too on the nose) and kind of have the sisters have to work through their grief/trauma on that end while also having to save the day and then we could bring mark in on a seperate episode (or have him come in on that episode as like. the girl’s uncle or whatever kind of piper’s point of contact when guiding who i guess would be his sisters spirit like the human person piper talks to who kind of quickly realizes something afoot bc well he’s a smart guy and he and his sister were raised on these stories. so maybe something like that. and then you think it’s a one and done with a brief, fleeting connection but then all of a sudden him comes back in some type of professional capacity Do Not Ask Me How and now it’s like. dude who you don’t like work with but like kind of you do. but he knows you’re a witch. so piper has to devote some time to that because that’s just the woman she is. and then a couple episodes later mark himself is the innocent and it’s like just as he and piper might start getting close you know boom monster demon warlock attack something now his life’s in jeopardy and you know piper saves the day but mark almost died and mark’s like wow this is just kinda like how your life works huh? with demons and monsters and ghosts? and piper’s like haha yep it’s enough to scare about anyone away i think and mark says i’m not scared and they hold eye contact and then it seems like they’re about to kiss but then one of them chickens out because they’re endgame so we’ve got time to kill we have the luxury of making them wait. blah blah blah they’re together by the end of season 1.

OR since this au is a bit of an li swap what with prue/cole and paige/leo i think you know where i’m going with this one piper/kyle. But of course piper and kyle only work like. off a divorce or something something that really gets piper and Peak Cynic and a bit more stone cold because i can’t just drag kyle in in s1 a) he’s a bitch and b) he’s a dick and c) very much Not compatible with early seasons piper who is very trusting and forgiving and believes in second chances. meaning. what do i do? ladies n gentlemen,,,, piper/dan. and we start that season one by just having dan move in next door season one blah blah blah they’re cute they’re sweet they’re married by season 3 they have a daughter and a son (no wyatt and no chris tho bc dan is Not a whitelighter also their daughter would not be the twice blessed as again dan is Not a whitelighter so there’s no dark future thing going) but then in season 5 dan sacrifices himself (oh no 😓!) but then he comes back as a whitelighter (😃) but then like. he can’t be with piper anymore because he’s a whitelighter (😔) (paige and leo still haven’t gone full canon yet because of the rules they keep dancing around their emotions) but at least he’s not dead (🤗) psych he gets killed in season six by a darklighter (😯). teeing us up for piper/kyle s7 onward slowburn here’s the manifesto.

in regards to phoebe i feel like her and coop aren’t really ready yet to be endgame til at least s5 because before that i don’t think phoebe is like ready for undying eternal love like she’s just here for a good time so to keep her busy i think i’d probably flip it and reverse it go dex first in s1 a handsome charming artist a bit dull but who cares whoops pregnancy scare! yikes! kind of separate and don’t really see each other much after that because we’re still working with phoebe’s fear of commitment next up to bat in season two phoebe’s college arc is leslie instead of the kind of rivals to lovers thing they had going on in the workplace instead it is in academia where they are both studying psych and they are in constant competition with one another in fact we can even say this is where we start planting the seeds for advice columnist phoebe where the two of them actually host like a call in advice show on the local college radio and slowly fall in love there. but this all ends when they both graduate and leslie moves away and phoebe’s kind of hurt because that was the first guy she ever could have felt like potentially committing to. next up on the docket would be who jason? i feel we’re not ready for that. who does that leave me? note i am skipping drake in this reverse play because like prue/cole would still be too fresh we can’t do a casual demon romance yet because we’re still leaning in on the drama and fire and danger of a witch/demon romance to pull some shit like phoebe/drake. hmm. we could make up a guy land a pretty solid heartbreak on phoebe just to tee her up all that. because dex she wasn’t that into leslie she was but it was just fate that pulled them apart we need a third one to kinda solidify the fear that love is doomed. and then like in between we will be having one off dates. oh ooh bonus since paige is with leo we can give phoebe married norman reedus. that’s just a fun one. that’s just a fun lil kick in the shins. final guy pre coop to carry us into season for is ummm hmmmmm. miles and he dies. but this time we actually make miles fun and interesting and sexy and really just everything he wasn’t noah fence to the guy. hmm. miles jason dean fusion. shan’t elaborate. but something like that. and then s5 after being burned by love so many times here comes coop. add a couple more love interests as set ups by coop just to drag it out, and then phoop endgame.

im being deeply unproductive today, but in my defense i got a set of several complex pictures for the video project done last night, and i still have to actually assemble the files for editing and ill get to that but first let’s bust through some more of this backlog of deer boy au sketches and talk about ronan this time 

this is a LONG one probably, and also, yknow, because its ronan and esp because as you may have noticed he’s not exactly human in this au, there’s gonna be some discussion here of good ole ronan lynch angst-with-regards-to-his-existence-and-religion, so like, heads up there? and. discussion of like. some very sad things, but very very briefly. less discussion and more mention of them. look its ronan idk what to tell you aside from i have at least managed to avoid mentioning kavinsky for now so its not as bad as it could be anyway

(this is probably extremely rambly even for me, im so sorry. i can explain any number of things mentioned here in more detail if anyone would like) 

SO. ronan’s a cambion, at least by dnd terminology, idk how that term gets used in other contexts but the point here is he’s half-human and half-demon, BUT, v important to explain, even tho the characters don’t initially know this and it’s something they work out over time, demons are not necessarily devils; or, more accurately, there’s a category of creature that is not a fey but is somewhat fey-adjacent, follows their own very different set of rules to fey law and are reliant on ley lines in ways similar to a lot of fey beings and spaces, and that category of creatures was granted the name “demons” because that word already exists and this type of creature’s so misunderstood that people mistook them for devils. Whether the biblical demon also exists in this au i havent decided on and dont much plan to because its not super relevant 

BUT. taking inspiration from the horrible bee from canon, demons are, essentially, beings that are created due to a high degree of tragedy on a ley line, and the rules they operate by as well as their motivations are determined by the shape of that tragedy which created them. for example: the hornet demon from the books would be an example of what happens due to violence and bloodshed; it was born of blood shed in anger and life wrongly taken and as a result it exists only to destroy. however, not all demons are evil. example: take, say, a succubus (no stay with me hold on), like the one that niall lynch hooked up with made a deal with over in ireland one day. 

a succubus in this sense is a demon which is born of miscarriage; and they’re Like That because there, the tragedy is not one of destruction, but of lost potential and a life that never came to be. so a succubus is driven to make up for that lost potential in the form of, yknow, making another baby happen, 

and its that power of potential that is also why ronan’s got power over dreams still, it’s aaaall about creation and potential. and his mother, who he never actually met, she hecked off but niall kept the baby, wasn’t evil. just. operating on a different morality system but one which had no interest in hurting anybody. she’s still kicking around in ireland somewhere

RONAN meanwhile still has his two brothers, haven’t figured out yet if matthew’s still a dream thing or not, but. niall never got around to explaining how the demon thing worked before dying because it’s niall he’s terrible at explaining things. but ronan started being able to shapeshift p young--he’s got a fully human form, a fully demonic form, and a form that’s generally called hybrid but really he can shift to anywhere along the spectrum or just pop the wings or the tail out etc etc etc. his brothers both know ronan’s not human, its a family secret, its all chill, except then one day ronan shifts out the wings to help save a baby bird that fell out of a tree and someone outside the family sees that happen and from there things just get real bad and the lynches have to leave ireland in a hurry 

ronan’s demonic form actually ends up being strongly influenced by his own opinion of himself as he grows up; the church has him filled with enough doubt that he grows the horns and becomes more hulking and frightening and all that jazz, and he suspects that he would be burned or expelled from a church’s grounds if he were to shift forms on sacred ground, so he never tries it (he would not, because, as was previously stated, his mother isnt evil, but he doesnt know that) and he just. he hides it real hard. especially after niall gets himself murdered before ronan can finally just ASK about his mother

but! before that happens he meets gansey, who has a lot of interest in the fey and a theory that’s not quite right but is on the right track about demons being some poorly understood class of fey rather than something evil and that gives ronan a lot of hope for a while

yknow until he sees how much iron effs up someone who’s even got a LITTLE fey blood in them when adam gets shot and how when ronan holds that same arrowhead that put adam in so much pain it doesn’t hurt at all, rip 

he tells them that he’s a cambion well before he shows them the alt forms because there’s a point where he feels that they ought to know esp since ronan’s back to existential dread over what exactly he is, it’s kavinsky who ends up forcing him to shift in front of them for the first time, the whole kavinsky thing’s gonna DEFINITELY take at least one post all on its own a lot happens there, but for now: this is why ronan knew that pryderi wasn’t a normal deer (that and also because pryderi is a white tailed deer, which dont exist in england, so ronan was like, thats. thats not a real animal thats gotta be a fey) and also leads to some fun between him and noah because noah, unbeknownst to ronan, has decided that he and ronan are in fact engaged in a game of chicken to see who gets caught/outed for what they really are first. 

(ronan and gansey dont know what kind of fey noah is exactly. ronan assumes he’s something weak like a brownie. noah is definitely not a brownie)

last picture’s unfinished because idk why ronan’s fully demonic form is so hard for me to DRAW but he’s shaped roughly like beast from the disney movie, except as a big bird monster. also if ur someone he likes and you sleep using him as a pillow it’ll be the best sleep of your life w/ really good dreams and ronan also sleeps v well, its a thing that happens, ronan is in fact the best pillow

Favorite character: Noah because he’s been my comfort character since 2010,

Second favorite character: Shawn because he’s cool as fuck.

Least favorite character: It’s either Amy or Sierra, because Amy is an abusive piece of shit and Sierra is a really creepy stalker, so those two are a massive No.

The character I’m most like: A mix between Dave and Spud I guess akskdjd.

Favorite pairing: Can I say Noah/Dave even tho it’s a rarepair?

Least favorite pairing: Any involving my least fave characters lmao, I also don’t like most of the canon pairings in TD tbh.

Favorite moment: I can’t really answer this since I haven’t actually watched TD in a while.

Rating out of 10: 7/10 the writing for it kinda sucked shit, and because Fresh gave us all of that Nemma nonsense.
