i keep thinking abt it but in reality im so so so scared if i end up going on erasmus next year. im gonna be all alone for the first time in my life. no friends no nothing. and i dont like partying either so its like... who am i even gonna befriend.

There should be more twenty-four hour work spaces. It cannot be that hard to implement. If the idea of running a business didn’t make me want to barf I’d do it myself. Take the skeleton of a twenty four hour gym business but instead of paying $10 a month to lift weights I can pay $10 a month to park my butt in a reading nook or at a large table. Bonus points if you run a little cafe in there too but you don’t gotta. I don’t need a bougie ultra hip spot, I need an accessible, comfortable, multi-purpose place I can use at any time. I’ll pay a small fee, thats fine, that’s how business works. Literally I’m thinking 24 hour gym membership but for a study/work space.

And yeah, I’ve got a larger discussion in me about free public spaces and bathrooms and shelter and multi-use spaces but that’s another post for another day.

#I’m sure there’s versions of this in some big cities but not where I’m at so I’m complaining #also please use your local libraries and everything they are one of the last remaining public spaces #but it’d be nice to have more public multiuse spaces #and the gov ain’t giving that to us for free anytime soon bc they hate non profitable shit #but also I started going to the gym with my roommate and I’m like I can just swipe my ID for a small fee and use a space with likeminded ppl #for working out so why can we have that for other stuff you know #I’d do it myself but I really don’t want to be a business owner #at least at this point in my life #maybe in the far future we’ll see #personal #rant #study spaces #college

#svsss #scum villian self saving system #shen qingqiu #shen yuan #the fact that people think scum villain #-a series that examines and criticizes common tropes in fiction-#is somehow against criticism or being a little hater is wild to me #especially since shen qingqiu never gets punished for being a hater #heck- he's still a little hater by the end of the series #he mostly gets punished for treating life like a play and like he and the people around him are characters #(or in other words- he suffers for denying his own wants and emotions and his own sense of empathy)#I think some of y'all underestimate how much writing/art is inspired by creaters being little haters #like example off the top of my head-#the author of Iron Widow has been pretty vocal about the book being inspired by their hatred of Darling in the Franxx #I think my interpretation of Shen Yuan's transmigration is also supported by the fact that this series is an examines writing processes #side note- though i understand why people say Shen Yuan is lazy and think its a valid take it still doesnt sit right with me #i am probably biased because my own experiences with chronic pain and depression and isolation #but ya- i dont think Shen Yuan is lazy so much as he is deeply lonely and feels purposeless after denying parts of himself for 20ish years #like yall remember the online fandom boom from covid right?#being stuck completely alone in bed while feeling like shit for 20 days straight does shit to your brain #the fact that no one came to check on him + he wasn't exactly upset about leaving anyone behind supports the isolation interpretation too #+in the skinner demon arc he describes his life of being a faker/inability to stop being a faker now that he's Shen Qingqiu #as “so bland he's tempted to throw salt on himself” and “all he could do is lay around and wait for death” (<-paraphrasing)#bro wants to be doing stuff but is stuck in paralysis from repeatedly following scrips made by other people #another point on “Shen Yuan isn’t lazy” is just the sheer amount of studying that man does #also he did graduate college- how lazy can he really be #he doesnt know what hes doing but he at least tries to actively train his students #and he actually works on improving his own cultivation + spends quite a bit of time preping the mushroom body thing #+he's experiencing bouts of debilitating chronic pain throughout all this #but ya tldr: Shen Yuan's transmigration is an encouragement to write and not a punishment and also i dont think its fair to call him lazy

today i finished scripting a first draft of the final episode of starship iris. this means i now have a rough draft of the whole final season.

...i was gonna say something about needing to process my emotions by lying down on my floor for a while but it's night now and probably what i should do is process my emotions by sleeping.

#i started writing this show in 2015 #a year which no longer quite seems real to me #to be clear this thing still needs to be revised #maybe quite a bit #but i can see a way forward and that is exciting even if it kind of breaks my brain that at some point in the future #i will no longer be working on starship iris #i had at least two mental breakdowns making this show but it also absolutely for sure changed my life & i'll always be grateful for that <3

The first mission the Court send their newly minted Talon on is an assassination attempt on the ward of one Bruce Wayne… Dick Grayson.

Calvin— can’t kill Dick. He can’t.

He didn’t know it would be the boy he grew up in the circus with they want him to murder in cold blood. He didn’t know— didn’t recognize him until the knife was already at his throat.

But he remembers now. And he won’t do it. Never. Never.

He’ll run. Disappear. Dick doesn’t know who he is, it’s better that way, and if he’s lucky the Court will be too busy hunting him to care about the failed assassination.

Unfortunately for Calvin, Dick does remember; Recognizes the Talon.

And he’s not inclined to let his childhood best friend slip through his fingers again after years of believing him dead.

Anyway while we're speculating about the end of atn here's a selection of some of tamsyn muir's other endings (spoilers for most of her short stories):

girl & her love interest elope to live under the sea as an eldritch power couple

woman's best friend agrees to move in with her which makes her magical house happy

ghoul and the creature in her dead girlfriend's body walk off into the sunset after destroying their enemies

princess kills a dragon and then she and her love interest go into business together as professional monsters

well one does end with the protag becoming a cannibal and staying with the guy who tricked her into it so you've got me there

monster women overrun a town

a ghost gets revenge

Quite a few of the endings strike an unsettling tone in which you're not quite sure what you got was a happy ending, but the protagonists did walk away better off than they started. That's similar to what I expect from the atn ending too

#even the magician's apprentice does end with the idea that cherry will grow in power #one can imagine a world in which she eventually decides to do away with john and has the ability to get rid of him #maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part #in some ways i think alecto's whole deal is a continuation of that story or at least those themes #anyway. i'll also point out the women end up together in most of these too #i do think gideon and harrow will live. for a given value of life
