WHEN I WAS AND IF I COULD
When I was 13, I was told that wanting to pursue writing as a college degree is useless.
Now that I am 23, I am told that pitching stories to a publishing or a production company is unrealistic.
And it's amazing just how easy it is for people to crush other people's dreams—with words. Then again, that doesn't matter because the minimum job requirement is experience, which is also impossible to achieve if no one is willing to take a risk with someone who has none.
If the battle of yesterday is that it is easy to become a writer without a college degree, then the battle of today is whether a non-degree holder can become a writer and still earn the attention of yesterday.
But all my life, all I've ever dreamed of doing is write, write, write.
To existing private companies and job hirers, just what on God's green earth will it take for you to give me a chance and let me pursue my dream?

"i think I should like to be a writer. to take these words burrowed deep in my chest, my bones, and scribble them out into fruition. these words resonate in my body - shaking and thrashing and screaming as life deals its cards to me.
i don't tell people this desire. this purpose. they tend to suggest that it's some sort of childish wonder. some extreme ideal. they don't realise that I didn't choose this. i didn't ask to be burdened with so much to say. but the words are clawing their way out of my throat and spool from my hands. they erupt from my mind and dig themselves up from my flesh. they set themselves before my feet, ripe for the taking.
my fingertips themselves are points of punctuation. my lips are variations of intonations and language. my tongue craves the taste of ink on yellowed paper. the veins running down my legs beat a steady thrum of my tales meant to be told. writing, as I have found, is my own release where my mind meets my heart. how could it not? when every piece of evidence points to the naked fact that my very being is created from some kind of divine art?"
-my writing excerpts

How ONE IDEA Changed My Life Who would have thought that I actually enjoy my favorite hobby over tea while sitting at my favorite desk, illuminated by small beams of sunlight from the side window? There is a saying that whatever is meant to happen at a certain time, then it will happen despite the circumstances. Read my Full Story here

Does this happen to you also?
Tumblr media
Like you meet a person and you vibe with them a lot, but after some time, for a reason or not, you fall out. I have a poem for that!
The sparkle in your eyes
When you look at me
Is now turned into ice
The smile and memory
The smile in memory
Withered like the flower
In the fall in the cemetery
And the memories lie there
There are many other poems like this in my anthology, so I would really appreciate it if you check it out.
Here is the link to the Kindle version of the book. It is called Luna: Phases of a Young Woman. Please do check it out, and your remarks will be appreciated 😭❤️

The New Blog!
I'm starting this blog to showcase some of the pieces of amateur writing work I've come up with and will come up with.  It's an aspiration of mine to someday become a paid writer and actually make money off the content I create. Or even better to possibly write a book at some point. Sometimes I try my hand at poetry and/or song writing. As well I like to write short nonfiction essays or articles about random topics. I am always open to suggested topics from readers (assuming one day I actually have readers).      My grammar may not always be great and my spelling probably worse. But the point of the blog is to mainly have fun and work up the courage to start letting people read my work, and also to help me pass time, as I'm recently clean from drugs and currently live in a sober living house where I tend to have a lot of free time.      Finally, the name: Wreaking Havoc. I aspire to one day own some sort of business and I always thought the word HAVOC would be a totally great name. something like Havoc refrigeration, or Havoc metal fabrication, Havoc sheet metal, or Havoc projects, something along those lines. But where does it come from? Well as I previously stated I am in early recovery. I have been struggling with an opiate addiction pretty much the entirety of my adult life. And as I was in active addiction and making poor decisions I would often have talks with my father. I'd b sitting there across from his desk in his office or riding shotgun in the truck on the way to get one of my few valuable objects out of hawk. Or some other kind of mission your forced on when your son is a junkie. So usually, we'd be in the midst of a heart-to-heart conversation or some form of a come to Jesus discussion in which he would generally say to me; "JOSHUA! You are WREAKING HAVOC on your life!!" and somewhere in all that frustration radiating off my father that phrase wreaking havoc stuck with me. With a subtle form of determination that I would eventually amount to something, and my dad wouldn't have to be disappointed with me anymore, and I could pull some good out of all of our long talks together.      SO, here we are I'm about 7 weeks clean and attempting something positive with my time. If your eyes are here, now i hope they continue, and I hope somebody somewhere someday can maybe take something positive away from the works that follow. Enjoy, my new form of: WREAKING HAVOC!

After all this time who would have thought I would find myself here still taking on the heat from your so-called sincerity. I should have known it would only go so far this has never meant that much to you it's all so clear now. Now I'm stuck in this Unholy War watching you try to become the Martyr that does nothing but live in sin. Would have been so easy just to give in yet here I am still trying to take on the fire within. Free myself from all the pain that we were living in. You say you'd never meant for this to happen but here we are no need for more excuses what lies ahead of us now is only sacrilegious.

Tips for First-Time Authors: Lessons Learned on My Publishing Journey
📚✨ Tips for First-Time Authors: Lessons Learned on My Publishing Journey ✨📚
Hello, aspiring authors and book lovers! 🌟 Today, I want to share some valuable lessons I’ve learned on my journey to publishing my first book. If you're dreaming of seeing your name on the cover of a novel, these insights will help you navigate the exciting world of publishing. Let’s dive in! 🚀
1. Perfect Your Manuscript: Before you even think about publishing, make sure your manuscript is the best it can be. This means multiple drafts, feedback from beta readers, and possibly hiring a professional editor. Don’t rush this step – a polished manuscript is crucial.
2. Research Your Publishing Options: There are various routes to getting your book published – traditional publishing, self-publishing, or hybrid publishing. Each has its pros and cons. Traditional publishing can offer more resources and distribution, but self-publishing gives you full control and a higher percentage of royalties.
3. Build Your Author Platform: Start building your presence online early. Create an author website, and be active on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Engage with potential readers and other writers. A strong online presence can make a big difference when it comes time to market your book.
4. Understand the Submission Process: If you’re going the traditional route, familiarize yourself with the submission process. This includes crafting a compelling query letter and synopsis. Research literary agents and publishers to find the best fit for your genre and style.
5. Invest in a Great Cover: Your book cover is the first thing readers will see, so make it count. Whether you’re self-publishing or working with a publisher, ensure your cover is professional and eye-catching. It should reflect the genre and tone of your book.
6. Learn About Book Marketing: Marketing your book is just as important as writing it. Learn about different marketing strategies, from social media campaigns to book tours. Consider running ads, organizing giveaways, and connecting with book bloggers and reviewers.
7. Network with Other Authors: Join writing groups, attend literary events, and participate in online forums. Networking with other authors can provide support, advice, and promotional opportunities. Writing might be a solitary activity, but publishing is a community effort.
8. Stay Patient and Persistent: Publishing can be a long and sometimes challenging process. Rejections are part of the journey. Stay persistent, keep refining your craft, and don’t give up. Your story deserves to be told.
9. Celebrate Every Milestone: From finishing your first draft to seeing your book in print, celebrate each milestone. Publishing a book is a significant achievement, and every step forward is worth acknowledging.
Ready to Take the Leap? Remember, every author started where you are now – with a story to tell and a dream to share it with the world. Believe in yourself and your writing. Your book could be the next big thing!
Feel free to share your own experiences or ask any questions in the comments below. Let’s support each other on this incredible journey! ❤️

Oh I see what you’re doing now  Had you figured from the beginning  and I somehow  Tried not to let the past have any say about now   It’s all looking good but It is said that what you see aint always what you get, but I digress  People are the same whether it’s  Here or There and everywhere   One is wanting another to walk along side  but discovers That they only joined in to get You…

Story Blast Week Twelve
Twelve, in a collection of writing prompts. Rolling out a handful of "Story Blasts" to help you hone your storytelling skills through daily efforts involving repetition and experimentation. Each "Story Blast" contains a collection of random components. A photo and a paradox; A pair of opposites with an inherent conflict of polar choices to incorporate, explore, use, and build on, along with five additional random items; such as concepts, actions, places, intentions, etc.
youtube
The goal of these "Story Blasts" is to spark a daily use of your creative skills by writing a minimum of 250 words a day. You can write more, but consistency is the objective to reinforce the desired outcome, which is Habitual Professional level writing. The other side of that coin is utilizing "random" components that you did not seek out, which will take you to different places than you would typically go to. Breaking ruts and delving deeper into various aspects of your stories by forcing your creative combinations of the listed components mixed in with other concepts. I will be posting the writings, short stories, poems, and musings that are generated from these Story Blasts on
https://edwardlacina.substack.com
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance Ed
