Stories like this, slice-of-life and centered around families, especially unconvential ones are my cup of tea.

Two boys, Haruhi and Kouta, get taken in by their uncle Akito who brings them to his girlfriends apartment after their parents die in a car accident. He does this because nowhere else in the family has the space for the two boys. And what comes to follow, is just this beautiful story.

Kinaho, a writer is such a straightforward person. She clearly tells the boys that she won't replace their mom but that she will do everything she can to take care of them. She is so honest with how she reacts and steps into people's business. There is a kindness around her, whether it be at the park helping other kids out or with parents by butting into conversations and speaking her mind.

Haruhi and Kouta grow into their own, and even if their parents being gone looms over them. Both still try to face the world with positivity. Kouta joins the cooking club at his middle school after helping out at home and loves to try new recipes with everyone. Haruhi is just the friendliest kid, and I just love when authors know how to write kids dialogue and action. He reflects what Kinaho tells him to his peers and friends, which creates precious moments.

Seeing how characters interact, grow and change in a mundane setting is what I love most about this genre of stories. It just warms your heart and makes me happy, that stories like this exist.

Why does EVERY Lucas gage character has a massive chokehold on me?? Why am I acting like Edwin and thinking about the cat king like all the time??? God why???

Edwin was honestly the best character? Like for real

I kinda like Charles but not as much, he's definitely the 5 in the Top 5

Loved Niko and Jenny... Liked Crystal but she annoyed me a bit

Esther was funny, Monty was cute but since I'm back in my ASOUE phase and I kept thinking of Uncle Monty whenever someone mentioned him so it was kinda weird

Edwin and Niko's friendship is my goal in life

August Shopping - Part 1

I start the August posting early because I have already received a couple of packages. I got a big batch of mangas, including the Wotakoi anime guide. I got the latest volume of Kuroneko, Haru, Kachou Fuugetsu, Escape Journey and Boku wa subete... The 5th Border volume is a backlog - someone ordered it for me back then, the drama CD version, but never sent it to me in the end... I got Asou Kai’s new non-BL series - which is a nice surprise, I quite enjoy it so far. As for the Enjin Yamimaru illustrated manga - I was super excited to have her manga, but it has a pretty shocking rape scene in it, I am still not over it... (it’s not her fault though, she is not the author of the story, she is doing the illustration part) Natsume Kazuki’s manga looks gorgeous (& pretty thick) - I did not have time to properly go through it yet.

As for merch - I got casual Yurio nendo (poor baby is still in his box, I have a set up for him in mind, but could not find enough time (and light) to proceed with it)! The plush cap set is just the right size for the nendos - I just ordered the second set of it which has a leopard pattern one. Guess who will wear that. ;) :3

Last but not least, I got the Miira no Kaikata plushies! They are adorable, especially together - the cutest bunch around. XD

I have my GEM Yuuri figure in the country, but it got caught by the customs, meaning I have to pay and extra 35 USD to get him. >_< All because AmiAmi would not send him via ordinary SAL small packet, like other shops would do (those could slide under customs radar, but these shop-exclusive GEM figures can be only bought through AmiAmi... >_<)
