Relating to the first gif. Elena is sired.

Zalrb said in one of her posts. What she fought against is attraction mixed with confusion or something.

When she talked to her mum about Matt. “I don’t know what I feel.”

When she talked with Matt about Damon. She describes Damon as a person. That’s all.

“Elena is sired” yes. she is indeed. I know that. but what I was trying to explain with using that gif is that Damon was always trying to push some sort of feelings for him onto her, with his sexual jokes and inappropriate comments and behaviours, but yes at that point technically elenas actions weren’t really up to her but she wasn’t sired to him when Caroline made her admit she felt an attraction towards Damon and Zalrb and you are right, she was trying to fight against it in respect of Stefan and herself I guess.

and as for when she was talking to her mum about Matt and she says “idk what I feel” and then her mum says “yes you do” I feel like that’s the same sort of situation for SE aswell, like Elena being all “idk what I feel” but deep down in her heart knowing exactly how she feels and her feelings are for Stefan. she. loves. Stefan. Elena also says “I wish my mom was here to give me some advice” well that is her advice. follow your heart. and that’s exactly what she did at the end of s3. Elena followed her heart.

“The problems Damon” then elena thinks to herself (the confusion kicks in and she tries to make sense of it so she could explain it to Matt) “when I’m with him…it just, consumes me” the question is, what exactly does she mean by that? I think it means exactly what rose said earlier on: “Damon changes her too.” his traits (whenever elenas with him) rubs off on her and that’s down to his wit and his charm and his personality. and your right that’s down to the kind of person Damon is and how he uses that to get to Elena.

Elena talks about how she knows it’s wrong to love them both but when she chooses one then she looses the other. When I unpick this scene I get the feeling that she loves them both but very unequally and differently. Elena talks more deeply about Stefan. Longer. more heartwarmingly. and talks about Damon with confusion, shorter, more complex and less meaningful. like there’s no clear meaning to what she’s saying about him. it’s evident on who she’ll choose but there’s always that tick in the back of our minds when watching it going “wait IS she going to pick Damon? wait maybe she actually will” giving us the confusion and making us pick a side. Elena states she doesn’t want to loose anyone else and there it is. it’s the fear of becoming so dependent on these 2 brothers that she brings them together again but then she’s scared she’ll also be the one to drive them apart.

You were sitting on the couch with Harry doing your routine nightly scroll on tiktok, occasionally showing Harry a funny video here and there. While Harry was sitting finishing up some work he needed to do before heading to bed.

As you were scrolling you kept seeing people trying a male celebrity bracket filter. You thought it was funny because every time you watched to see who they would choose, they always chose Harry. You decided to try it too.

You open your camera, click on the filter, and the first choice it gives you is between Shawn Mendes and Ryan Reynolds you choose Shawn Mendes. Then it gives you the choice between Joe Jonas and Ian Somerhalder, you choose Ian Somerhalder, you were obsessed with The Vampire Diaries. That’s when it gave you the choice between Leonardo Dicaprio and Harry, so you lean forward and show Harry your screen and tilt your head to choose the photo of him. At first he looks back at you with a confused face, which quickly turned into an amused expression.

You continue picking between other celebrities until it gives you the choice between Harry and Joe Jonas and of course you choose Harry. After a couple more choices, the final choice pops up between Harry and The Weekend. You point your phone towards Harry so he can see your screen again and he raises his eyebrow at you, giving you a questioning look, he knows how much you love The Weekend’s music, so to tease him by tilting your head towards the photo of The Weekend. When Harry sees this he grabs your head and tilts it towards the picture of him with a satisfied look.

After you end the video, you turn to tell him, “I was gonna pick you, I promise.” To which he responds with a kiss on the lips and says, “just had to be sure.”

You then ask him, “do you mind if I post this?” He says he doesn’t mind.

How you hug

He's just a sweetheart. He'll hold out his arms, asking for a hug rather than just giving one because he doesn't want to make you feel uncomfortable in public.

And then when you return the hug, his arms will just wrap around you securely and he'll lightly caress your shoulder with his thumb.

He loves burying his face in the crook of your neck as well and just take in your scent.

And when you're alone, this man won't be able to keep his hands off you (respectfully and consentually, of course). No matter how or which position, he'll have you in his arms.

Tom Glynn-Carney

Tom puts his everything into hugs. While it can be a small hug sometimes, he usually likes to pick you up. Especially after he's been away for a while and you come to pick him up at the airport.

He'll pick you up with ease, his hands on your back (or a little lower) and your legs wrapped around him. It's as if you are the only two people in existence.

Ewan Mitchell

Ewan is a tease and he simply loves hugging you from behind. He'll slide his hands from your hips to wrap around your waist and pull you into his chest.

He'll probably also sneakily press a kiss to your temple, cheek, neck or shoulder as well.

Matt just loves to hug you tightly, wrap his arms around your shoulders and whisper sweet nothings into your ear.

This man is a gem and he would just lightly rub your back and tell you he loves you and all that.

Joseph Morgan

It's almost as if the world would end if he were to let go of you. At least, that's what he'd make it feel like.

In public he usually will stick to more of a small hug or a side hug, but among close friends, family or just the two of you, he will hold you as if his life depended on it.

He'll just wrap his arms around you, put one hand in your neck or on the back of your head to keep you close and sink into you.

Daniel Gillies

Much like Joseph, Daniel likes to just hold you close, but what mostly differs them, is that Daniel is more of a tease and more sneaky.

While he'll have one hand on the back of your head, cradling your neck or somewhere on your back, his other hand will most definetely be on your ass. It's just a little thing he likes to do, remind himself that you were really his and he was the only one who could hold you like that.

Paul Wesley

No matter how much of a jokester or tease Paul normally was, he was not about your hugs.

He would take you into a big bear hug, his arms around your shoulders, and just squeeze you close, swaying from side to side.

Don't get me wrong, he likes the occasional tap on your butt, but he preferes your hugs to be something special. As an actor he has to do a lot of intimate things with other women, which is why, when it comes to you, he likes to show his affections through the simplicity of a good hug.

Ian Somerhalder

Ian is very protective of the people he loves, and it shows through in the way he hugs.

His arms will wrap around you and he'll rest his chin on top of your head, holding you close, but not too tightly.

He likes to just have you close, make sure that you know he's there and how much he loves you, and his hugs really show that.

Chris Wood

Chris isn't much of a hugger, apart from the occasional ones, he usually sticks to just putting his hand on your shoulder or on your hip.

What he is, is a cuddler.

Whenever one of you are sitting or laying around somewhere, he'll find an excuse to cuddle.

If he's sitting on the couch, he'll nod for you to come over with a cheeky grin and then just pull you into his side, let your arms wrap around him and stroke your back, or play with your hair.

If, let's say, you visit him on set and are seated in his chair, he'll simply pick you up, earning lots of giggles as he sits down with you in his lap, his arms around your waist.

Jensen Ackles

Jensen gives more of a classic type of hug. His arms wrapping around you before he moves his hand up to stroke through your hair and cradle the back of your head.

He would be a little stiff at first, but after every hug you notice him growing a little softer, more comfortable.

Jared Padalecki

I know the gif is with Jensen, but I felt like it best captured Jared.

This man is as goofy as goofy can be. Look it up in the dictionary, you'll find his name.

Jared would just wrap his arms around you, locking you in his embrace and lift you up, teasing you that you're so small (most people are small compared to him).

It's silly, but he knows that it always makes you laugh, and that's his goal.

Especially when either of you have a bad day, he knows his sillyness will cheer you up, as the sound of your laughter does that for him. It's his little way of showing you he cares and that he feels comfortable enough with you to be his goofy self.

Matthew Daddario

Matt is a simple, affectionate man.

He loves having you near, wrapping a casual arm around your shoulders.

His hugs would be different depending on the reason for the hug. If it's just a hug, he'll wrap an arm around your shoulders and pull you into his chest. If it's because either of you is upset about something, he'll slide his arms around your waist and draw you in like that and if it's out of happiness or excitement, he'll wrap his arms around your waist and give you a small spin.

Dominic Sherwood

Dominic is an affectionate man and he doesn't shy away from showing you how much he cares about you, even through little things such as hugs.

He'll put his arms around you and just give you a big, good hug, whether you're alone, with friends and family, or out in public, he doesn't care. He knows you're his (and he's yours) and he's not afraid to show it.

Dylan O'Brien

If there was any possible way to hug you tighter, he would.

He's silly and goofy most of the time, but he's also very much in touch with his emotions and a vulnarable man. He won't always say it, but your hugs are his favorite thing.

He especially loves it when you are the one to initiate the hug as to him it's a sign that you want him around and that you like holding him as much as he loves being held by him.

You'll put your arms under his shoulders and his arms would lock around you as he'd pepper the side of your face and your shoulder with kisses, all to convey his love for you and show how much he cares about you.

Tom Holland

He likes to hug you from behind, let you know that even though you don't always see him, he loves you and he wants to hold you.

His arms would wrap around your shoulders and he'll press a kiss to your cheek before burying his face in your shoulder.

He especially loves it when you put your hand over his wrist and reach your other hand back to move through his hair as he finds the simple touch very comforting.

Random hugs are his favorite.

No reason behind it other than wanting to have you in his arms.

His arms wrapped around your waist, his chin on your shoulder. Short, but sweet.

As he would pull away, he'd give your ass a small tap or press a quick peck to your cheek.

Really, just short and sweet.

But also often.

VERY often.

If you come to visit him on set and they're looking for him, he'll most likely be off somewhere with you in his arms.

As stated before, Tom is a very affectionate person, so he will not miss up on the oppertunity to hug you.

When he comes back from filming, when you visit him or when you simply see each other again, he would practically tackle you in a hug.

His arms would wrap around your waist and being quite tall, he'd just pick you up in his arms, probably earning giggles and laughter.

Except when you're feeling down or having a bad day.

Then he'd wrap one arm around your waist and another around your shoulders, holding you close and hugging you tightly until you're feeling at least a little bit better.

Funny story

So last night my husband was scrolling through videos and I was watching them with him. A video of a girl playing a pick who you would marry game and one of the choices was always Jensen Ackles.

So for a few I say Jensen, it shows like Ryan Gosling, Harry Styles, Micheal B. Jordan and then a couple of hard ones like Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, Ian Somerhalder, that ultimately I ended up still picking Jensen.

The last one though, the last one was choosing between Jensen Ackles and Dylan O'Brien. I said Dylan O'Brien way too fucking fast really fast that my husband turned to look at me shocked and asked, "you picked someone else?"

I didn't even think before saying his name 🤣

Listing them all is impossible, but my obsessions usually stuck the most when I have a "main crush" in said fandom. If not, they are fleeting at best... And usually the same main crush is the one that I ship with most people (Not always though).

Yep. I'm a multishipper, pro LGBTQ+ and I love polyamorous relationships.

When I hate a ship, I just hate it. No matter how hard you try to change my mind. Still, I'm of the "live and let live policy" because, damn, ship wars are boring and if you dislike something, YOU BLOODY IGNORE IT.

Paul Wesley explained this line on one of the conv (damon is the better man) that’s REVERSED PSYCHOLOGY.

Stefan is the one who sacrificed himself made it clear that he is the better man.

And this one is also bullshit. Elena started to fall for Damon in season 3 but she was in „denial“ 😂😂😂

But I only remember this line from Elena : it’s NOT the TRUTH, Stefan. I NEVER stopped loving you

okay so I do agree with you on the last bit but to be completely honest (as a big stelena shipper to another) Elena definitely was in a little bit of denial. yes she loved Stefan. But she also had a spark of feeling for Damon. Damon wanted her to feel something for him as he did for her and made moves on her the whole of season 3 so I’m not surprised elena was in denial.

so let’s get on with it.

(the bold bits are @therealawkwardstarfish points and theory ideas and don’t get me wrong your post was really good it actually had some really good ideas and points that actually made me rethink a few of my viewpoints on Damon’s character, not much but still. remember, no hate whatsoever towards the creator and everyone has an opinion!!)

“He was still mad at his brother for what he did, but also in a way forgave him for what he did. He just wanted his little brother by his side.” Yeah, but you forgot to dive into why Stefan wanted him to turn in the first place. oh wait! because Stefan also wanted his brother on his side and didn’t want to live an eternity without Damon. and he regretted it deeply for it and apologised on multiple occasions but did Damon ever apologise for making Stefans like a misery? no. 🩷

“He was willing to give Elena the cure because he wanted her to live a happy life without him” when? when? he was so against it the whole time because he was scared he was gonna loose elena without the sirebond? Or scared of Elena becoming a human because he thought she was gonna go running back to Stefan meaning he didn’t have much faith in their relationship (fault of the sirebond) What I take from that is that he secretly loved the sirebond because it got him what hes always wanted. the only time he ever accepted her wish to be human was at the end of season 5. was Damon willing to give her the cure? he HID it from her?!??! Hm.

“he believed what everyone believed him to him be A monster and a bad influence on Elena.” he was a bad influence on Elena and everyone saw it. The sirebond was Elena making Damon happy and his traits were rubbing off on her meaning that there was somethings about Elena that he wasn’t completely comfortable with. her love for Stefan. So Elena starts being passive with Stefan, not caring what she says to him until after she’s said it and realised the consequences. that sounds like someone to me…d-d-d-d-word. It wasn’t just because of the sirebond because Damon changed her for the worst. She lost her compassion, her good morals. her respect for human life when it came to the people she cared about. sounds like someone I know from the show…

“To him, his brother didn’t care. No one did. So he thought “you know what? If that’s what they think I’m a monster then okay, I’ll be one. So he did” but his brother did care…and deep down I think damon knew that. Stefan never gave up on him. He always in some way cared for him no matter what like in the second episode in the whole show he said “how do I stop the monster without becoming one myself?” he wanted to save Damon from himself and he was always trying to inspire emotion in him.

he didn’t want Damon to be that monster so no matter how much it annoyed Damon, stef always tried to provoke emotion into him for damons own benefit. Don’t tell me Stefan didn’t care, when Stefan visited Damon in the 1900s because he wanted to apologise for his wrong doings. (evidence stef missed him and wanted to have that brotherly bond with Damon again) but then Damon messed that up didn’t he? he pressured stef to drink human blood again even though he knew what it would do to him. And Damon didn’t go after him and help him. he stood there and watched him become the ripper of Monterey. what about Stefan saving Damon from the fire in 1x22? “Stefan don’t go in there! The fire will take you out” - Bonnie “he’s my brother Bonnie…” - Stefan.

“but he (Stefan) never realized why Damon was so mad at him until later.” he knew exactly why because you just said earlier that Damon told him he was gonna give him an eternity of misery? and I think Stefan had the ability to infer that he ment that because he made him turn him into a vampire. *he never realised why Damon wasn’t willing to put the past in the past* you mean. and that was because Damon thought it bad that Katherine wanted both him and Stefan to turn. but that wasn’t stefans fault was it? he was just compelled to not to be scared of her. that’s it. He didn’t ask for what happened to them. but Damon asked for it to happen to him.

“He tried to help his brother but ended up giving up after multiple tries.” Give me an example on when he gave up? when? and whatever example it is, it’s probably a worthy excuse to give up. Damon most likely pushed too hard. Too far. not knowing when to stop. the only time I can think of is when Damon and Bonnie are in the prison world and stefan is so broken by his brothers death that when Elena asks him what research has he done to help it’s almost like he’s fallen into a depression and tells Elena that he gave up because there is no way to do it. 🤷‍♀️

“Damon decided that he was going to sacrifice everything to save brother and everyone. For one last time, Damon decided to show his old self and sacrificed everything, just like he did when they were growing up. What Stefan saw was not the monster he created, but the brother before the monster” okay agreed. yes. He did. That one sacrificial move was indeed heroic and it showed the views just how far Damons character has come and how it has changed for the better. and deserves that recognition, but no one that I know of who ships delena or who is team Damon recognises that Stefan sacrificed his life and happiness to save Damon’s life too and Damon never thanked him for it but instead spent that time making moves on Elena to get her feelings for him to surface while Stefan was gone falling into the darkness again to save his selfish brother.

“And that person was the one that Stefan knew had to live.” facts. Spitting facts. yes. Stefan wanted to give life to this new found Damon. Or the old Damon he once knew in 1864. He wanted to give this Damon a chance to keep being a good person. even if he didn’t get to see more of it. A chance at a happy life even if it was without him. And while Stefan did this because he believed he ruined Damon’s life, Stefan didn’t really have much of a fulfilling life either. he was suicidal all his life and burdened with his addiction to blood. Stefan deserved the happiest ending there was!! And he deserved redemption just as much as Damon!!

“So he sacrificed himself and made Stefan human. To make up for that dying wish that Damon had for him back in 1864” yep and that’s yet the biggest and yet ANOTHER selfless thing done by Stefan. Both brothers deep down were caring people but only one of them showed that to others and that’s why everyone loved Stefan including Elena because Damon didn’t give a flying fuck about elenas friends or strangers just Elena. “I will always choose you”. - Damon and people think that’s sweet, it is I guess? it shows how much Damon’s willing to sacrifice for this one girl but Elena doesn’t want that. She wants to save everyone. she’d rather sacrifice herself than for others to die for her safety. and other people saw that and decided not to like Damon. (understandably)

anyway this persons theory ate and actually made me think about a few things but I look for development, actions and learning from mistakes. Evolving. Improvement from setbacks. atonement for wrong doings throughout the series not just once or twice in a lifetime to be able to call them the better man. I won’t lie to you in that scene when Stefan said “Damon’s the better man” I screamed into the TV haha I videoed myself watching the last episode because my friend suggested that I do and it was worth it 😭😭 my reaction was so funny but also so reasonable too lol

You may be the first person to agree with me that Michael Trevino is more attractive than Joseph Morgan, so now I’m curious. Who are the most attractive (purely based on looks) cast members in your opinion?

I am the worst person to ask this. My friends hate talking about celebrities with me or even sending me pics of people they find attractive because I have a very specific view of what I find attractive. I identify as pansexual and demisexual, meaning I do tend to need to emotionally bond with someone to find them attractive so I struggle to focus purely on looks. Like I can tell if someone is objectively attractive but sometimes everyone will be obsessed with an actor and I just don't get it. I can understand that Nate Buz is objectively attractive, but because I can't stand him as a person, I just don't personally find him attractive. I also tend to find women way more attractive than men. As you will see by my lists.

It also really depends on what you mean by "based purely on their looks." There are people who are "scientifically" attractive, but I just don't find them that attractive. It's impossible to be completely objective when talking about attraction. Everyone is attracted to different things.

I will say, I typically don't like light haired men, which explains the Trevino over Morgan opinion. It's not that I can't recognize Joseph Morgan (Klaus) is attractive. He's just not in the top for me. I also feel like people tend to find him more attractive because of his accent. Although, I will admit I liked him more with his longer, curly hair. But that also could just be because that's when his character gets more tolerable for me.

I also want to remind everyone that these are my opinions. Everyone has their own opinions and it doesn't mean your fav isn't attractive. These are just who I think is most attractive. Let's be honest, the cast is stacked with extremely attractive people. If they are not on the list, they are still attractive, it is just a very competitive field.

(This does not include Legacies cause I haven't really watched it)

Most Attractive Cast Members in My (un)Biased Opinion

It's going to come as no surprise who I consider to be the most attractive in the show. They also happen to be my favorite ships from each show. I swear I am trying to be objective but they seriously were the stand outs to me the first time I watched the shows. I mean just look at them. There is a reason that both Kat and Phoebe do modeling on the side. As for the men, you may say I have a type, but it's hard to deny that Daniel and Michael are not at least in the top, if not the top, for men. But if that's not objective enough for you, here's my top lists excluding them:

Most Attractive Men

We can't have a list of most attractive men without Charles Michael Davis topping the list. Marcel is one of the most attractive men in this series. I won't hear any arguments against it. His smile is just top tier. I don't feel like I need to say anything else to prove my point. Just look at that man.

I feel like Michael Trevino (Tyler) and Collin Woodell (Aiden) have very similar vibes. This is maybe less objective than not, but I just found them more attractive than some of the more popular characters that usually top the lists. Also, I thought it would be inappropriate to put them without their shirts on, but... I mean, come on.

Yusuf Gatewood is not talked about enough. I was not a huge Finn fan in TVD, nothing against Casper, but I was just never drawn in by that character. But Yusuf as Finn really pulled me in. I also just have a thing for smiles. He has such a captivating smile.

I can see that they are objectively attractive but not at the top of my personal list:

Ian Somerhalder as Damon. I know this may anger some people, but I just have never been an Ian girl. I get what people like, but his eyes always freaked me out a little bit. He just doesn't rank high for me, sorry! Joseph Morgan as Klaus. Joseph Morgan just doesn't top the list, but I just don't find light haired men that attractive. I'm not saying he's not, he just isn't in my top. Paul Wesley as Stefan. I loved Stefan and he has the stereotypical "good looks." He is pretty high on the list still, just not in the top. Chris Wood as Kai. I don't have much to say on this one. He's objectively attractive but again, just not at the top of my list. David Alpay as Atticus Shane. I know he was awful but objectively he is very attractive. Steven McQueen as Jeremy. He definitely had a glow up from the emo teen to the vampire hunter.

Most Attractive Women Spoiler alert, it's all of them

Like, my god, even actresses with the smallest screen time carried the show. These aren't really in order but I tried. I can't even begin to rank them against each other. I hated Monique's character but my god, Yasmine Al-Bustami is beautiful. Nishi Munshi (Gia) is just a gorgeous human being. I didn't like Antoinette, but I would do anything for Jaime Murray. I'm obsessed with everything Nathalie Kelley (Sybil) does.

This is not to say that the other actresses aren't beautiful. Again, everyone is gorgeous. These women just felt next level gorgeous to me, whereas, actresses like Candice and Nina felt more girl next door, if that makes sense. Like Inadu (Blu Hunt) was killing all of my faves and I was still somehow rooting for her (jk, mostly).

I know most of my list is from The Originals, but that tends to be the show I rewatch the most. I also feel like they tend to have more actors. TVD had the same actors playing like 20 different roles.

Julie said at a Nerd HQ panel after season 5 that it was the network wanting her to push the love triangle after Elena chose Damon even though she wanted to be done with it and fans think Stelena was supposed to be endgame and that Elena wanted to end up with Stefan:

"And they would come to me 'So, how are you gonna service the love triangle in this episode?', but at one point I was like 'I literally can't do this anymore, there is no more ways to service the love triangle', and the fans started saying how tired they were of the love triangle, I was like 'THANK YOU."

She also said these things before 4x23 about Elena's choice being reflective of getting back into touch with her genuine feelings without the sire bond's influence being of question and being a permanent choice:

“I think that in last year’s finale it was very clear that Elena was struggling with feelings for both brothers and needed to make a decision about what she wanted her life to be and who she wanted to share that life with,” she explains. “This year, she’s had a very traumatic roller coaster of life experience and it’s changed her irrevocably—and at the center of it all was the diehard belief that she loved Damon, that she loved him more than she’d ever loved anyone. She continues, “Her struggle has been with the realization of the sire bond that she couldn’t even trust those feelings to be true. So it’s more about answering the truth of those feelings and as a result does that mean her distance from Stefan was also not real and not true? She handles that realization pretty well and it’s a great, great, great scene.”

"Definitely the one lingering question as we get into the last two episodes is that Elena, as she makes her way back to her normal self, is going to have to get back in touch with her true feelings so that question is asked and answered before the season is out and it definitely seems very permanent and it’s life altering for all of three of them."

Julie Plec teased that we’ll find out how Elena feels — or doesn’t feel — about Damon by the end of Season 4. “It will revitalize the triangle for sure,” she said, “and as far as the Elena and Damon information, I think what it will do is cement their relationship — or lack thereof — once she comes clean with a sense of at least semi-permanence, if not permanence.”

This was also said before 4x19 about Stelena having a hot scene beyond a dance which wasn't the case lol unless you count Elena rejecting Stefan hot girl shit:

"Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) will share a lot more than a dance in the next episode Pictures of You, says Julie Plec - executive producer of the hit show The Vampire Diaries. The couple will have an intimate moment, leaving Damon (Ian Somerhalder) jealous, heartbroken and inclined to make a decision that will change his life forever. To balance the triangle, now it’s time to Stefan and Elena have a scandalous hot scene that will leave the fans in desperate need of a cold shower."

There's only so long you can write a love triangle, and Steroline could've sparked sooner had they ended the love triangle sooner. imo, there was nothing left to Stelena after season 3. They never would've sold an endgame because the writers completely demolished the ship with the way they wrote Delena.

It's true that Elena loved Damon more than she’d ever loved anyone. She outwardly states this when they repeat her fall in season 6. "Damon, I love you more than I ever thought was humanly possible." A lot of their season 6 dialogues overlay season 3 because they repeated her fall, and that repeat reveals the truths of her first fall.

Plec's comment about cementing their relationship is the reason I often say they could only destroy Delena by destroying Damon's character. Because it's not about Damon's love for Elena, it's about Elena's love for Damon.

The Stelena dance at prom was purely sexual, as was most of their scenes once Elena flipped her humanity switch. Stefan can't flip her emotions back on because she's no longer in love with him. When you see how they filmed the scene, you know exactly where Elena's heart is...

Elena danced with the wrong brother at prom. Damon would've been the one to flip her switch. The entire reason Rebekah snapped his neck on the rooftop in New York.
