You may be the first person to agree with me that Michael Trevino is more attractive than Joseph Morgan, so now I’m curious. Who are the most attractive (purely based on looks) cast members in your opinion?

I am the worst person to ask this. My friends hate talking about celebrities with me or even sending me pics of people they find attractive because I have a very specific view of what I find attractive. I identify as pansexual and demisexual, meaning I do tend to need to emotionally bond with someone to find them attractive so I struggle to focus purely on looks. Like I can tell if someone is objectively attractive but sometimes everyone will be obsessed with an actor and I just don't get it. I can understand that Nate Buz is objectively attractive, but because I can't stand him as a person, I just don't personally find him attractive. I also tend to find women way more attractive than men. As you will see by my lists.

It also really depends on what you mean by "based purely on their looks." There are people who are "scientifically" attractive, but I just don't find them that attractive. It's impossible to be completely objective when talking about attraction. Everyone is attracted to different things.

I will say, I typically don't like light haired men, which explains the Trevino over Morgan opinion. It's not that I can't recognize Joseph Morgan (Klaus) is attractive. He's just not in the top for me. I also feel like people tend to find him more attractive because of his accent. Although, I will admit I liked him more with his longer, curly hair. But that also could just be because that's when his character gets more tolerable for me.

I also want to remind everyone that these are my opinions. Everyone has their own opinions and it doesn't mean your fav isn't attractive. These are just who I think is most attractive. Let's be honest, the cast is stacked with extremely attractive people. If they are not on the list, they are still attractive, it is just a very competitive field.

It's going to come as no surprise who I consider to be the most attractive in the show. They also happen to be my favorite ships from each show. I swear I am trying to be objective but they seriously were the stand outs to me the first time I watched the shows. I mean just look at them. There is a reason that both Kat and Phoebe do modeling on the side. As for the men, you may say I have a type, but it's hard to deny that Daniel and Michael are not at least in the top, if not the top, for men. But if that's not objective enough for you, here's my top lists excluding them:

Most Attractive Men

We can't have a list of most attractive men without Charles Michael Davis topping the list. Marcel is one of the most attractive men in this series. I won't hear any arguments against it. His smile is just top tier. I don't feel like I need to say anything else to prove my point. Just look at that man.

I feel like Michael Trevino (Tyler) and Collin Woodell (Aiden) have very similar vibes. This is maybe less objective than not, but I just found them more attractive than some of the more popular characters that usually top the lists. Also, I thought it would be inappropriate to put them without their shirts on, but... I mean, come on.

Yusuf Gatewood is not talked about enough. I was not a huge Finn fan in TVD, nothing against Casper, but I was just never drawn in by that character. But Yusuf as Finn really pulled me in. I also just have a thing for smiles. He has such a captivating smile.

I can see that they are objectively attractive but not at the top of my personal list:

Ian Somerhalder as Damon. I know this may anger some people, but I just have never been an Ian girl. I get what people like, but his eyes always freaked me out a little bit. He just doesn't rank high for me, sorry! Joseph Morgan as Klaus. Joseph Morgan just doesn't top the list, but I just don't find light haired men that attractive. I'm not saying he's not, he just isn't in my top. Paul Wesley as Stefan. I loved Stefan and he has the stereotypical "good looks." He is pretty high on the list still, just not in the top. Chris Wood as Kai. I don't have much to say on this one. He's objectively attractive but again, just not at the top of my list. David Alpay as Atticus Shane. I know he was awful but objectively he is very attractive. Steven McQueen as Jeremy. He definitely had a glow up from the emo teen to the vampire hunter.

Like, my god, even actresses with the smallest screen time carried the show. These aren't really in order but I tried. I can't even begin to rank them against each other. I hated Monique's character but my god, Yasmine Al-Bustami is beautiful. Nishi Munshi (Gia) is just a gorgeous human being. I didn't like Antoinette, but I would do anything for Jaime Murray. I'm obsessed with everything Nathalie Kelley (Sybil) does.

This is not to say that the other actresses aren't beautiful. Again, everyone is gorgeous. These women just felt next level gorgeous to me, whereas, actresses like Candice and Nina felt more girl next door, if that makes sense. Like Inadu (Blu Hunt) was killing all of my faves and I was still somehow rooting for her (jk, mostly).

I know most of my list is from The Originals, but that tends to be the show I rewatch the most. I also feel like they tend to have more actors. TVD had the same actors playing like 20 different roles.

I don't see Klaus as someone who would fall in love at first sight — he is way too paranoid for that. But I definitely think he would be enchanted by someone at the first sight and just decide he needs to have this person. Think about him and Cami: they talked once and he was obsessed with her.

I'm writing a history with a very introspective character and I'm thinking... How would he approach someone who is so isolated?

Btw this is one of the things I like the most on writing him. Thinking with myself "what he would do?" "what would he think?" It's like drowning in the character.

I went on a rant, I hope it doesn't bother you, I didn't even realize your question, but it is answered regardless.

I definitely agree, Klaus is the kind of person who sees a woman with a pretty face who challenges him and becomes immediately smitten: his affections may vary depending on the woman, going from toxic and borderline obsessive infatuation, like what happened to him with Caroline, or love, like his situation with Camille, and a mix of complicated feelings that toy with the line between platonic and physical, like what happened with Hayley and him at the beginning.

I won't disagree with you about the second part, falling in love at first sight is something so out of character for Klaus, but he quickly becomes obsessed with any woman who talks back to him, and we can see this with all his love interests. His judgment often clouds whenever the new object of his attention is around: he allowed Caroline to say awful things about his relationship with his father and himself, throwing the gifts he gave her in his face, when he would have killed anyone else for it, he was more focused on sleeping with Hayley than he was with getting the cure, knowing it was dangerous for his family to do so, because he liked her and was attracted to her boldness, he kneeled for Camille within weeks of meeting her and was the only love interest of his he actually considered family, and Hayley does not count, as she was never his love interest but obviously still his family.

He prioritizes women he doesn't even know over his own family, this is undeniable and a big part of his character. I'm torn about what I think of this trait of his, as I think it's very out of character for the kind of person he's supposed to be. Do I believe he would chose them over his siblings? No, obviously not, not unless the feelings are love and not infatuation, and this depends greatly on what that person means to him. This is so away from the point, but Klaus is always pushed or forced to care for things, the biggest example of this is Hope: I personally believe he wouldn't have cared about her so much if Elijah hadn't made him.

But what if it had been his lover from a long time the one who had been pregnant? Klaus was a viking, he was raised as one and was expected to take a wife: they ran the household, the farm, took care of the children, but the men were still "the lords", and is no surprise Klaus is a sexist man: he would love the idea of being able to have all of that. And once he got over the shock of being able to reproduce as a hybrid, I honestly can see him becoming more involved because in his mind, he finally got everything he wanted: the wife, the child, practically the whole white picket fence. At his core, Klaus is a character who craves unconditional love and for him, a lover and a child would give it to him without question. This, of course, would require another better post for it to actually make sense.

But dropping this topic and approaching your question, I honestly think it depends greatly on your character, the kind of person they are and how isolated they actually are - emotionally, physically or both.

As we've seen in canon, he's not the kind of person who drops his interest in a person just because they feel uncomfortable or want him to stop. Klaus is very, very intense, and I don't think that would set a very good first impression with your character, especially because he always makes his interest in someone - especially if it's romantic - painfully clear. He also has trouble picking up some social clues, which is hilarious, and would perhaps make his relationship with your oc more antagonistic at first.

However, if he actually frightens her/him, I can see him choosing to change his approach. How he met Davina is a really good example of this, in my opinion. She was very much isolated from the world and he just made it so much worse: he tried to use her as a weapon, tried to poison her and actually got her high-school sweetheart killed, and in general, their relationship was awful, all because of Klaus and how he decided to subject her into his side.

This was a whole mess, and it did not come out the way I expected it to. Regardless, I hope it satisfied you!

Can you rate some bonnie ships

Sure! This is just based on my personal preference, combining what we got in canon and the potential Bonnie stans explore in fanon.

This is pretty long so I'll put a text breaker (or whatever that's called) here. If you wanted me to go in-depth for a certain ship, feel free to ask! I apologize in advance for any misspells, grammar mistakes or errors.

1. Stefonnie and Bonkai

I have a few posts dedicated to my love of Stefonnie, but I’ll say it again, out of all of Bonnie’s ships, they had some of the best foundations based on canon alone. Same with Bonkai. There easily could’ve been a smooth transition into a relationship for both ships.

Season 5 was the perfect time to set Stefonnie up instead we got the blandness that is Ste.roline due to how similar their arcs were up to that point and how the main conflict of that season affected them two the most out of the main cast.

Anyone with eyes could see that Bonkai had a similar setup to TVDUS “dark romance” ships like DE and KC. The whole “bad boy x good girl” trope combined with the “evil guy is willing to change to earn the heart of the morally rich girl” trope was very on brand for Julie and Bonkai did it in a way that, again in my opinion, subverted from the norm. Bonnie held Kai accountable in a way that Elena and Caroline simply didn’t when it came to their highly questionable boyfriends. On top of that, I loved how Kai brought out the more vengeful side of Bonnie that had been somewhat watered down in seasons 3-5. Bonkai had one thing that was missing from all of Bonnie’s canon ships; passion. Out of all of Bonnie’s ships, canon or otherwise, Bonkai had the most electric chemistry. You can feel the emotions from Kat and Chris through the screen and they played off each other so well.

2. Klonnie

Bonnies ship with the most wasted potential. Klaus and Bonnie had everything in place to be a well-done ship. Not only did Kat and Joseph have great chemistry, but they were the biggest captains of this ship when Klaus was just getting started in TVD. They individually had the most interesting lore of all the TVDU characters and given how intertwined the Mikaelsons and the Bennetts were, should’ve interacted far more times in canon. Klaus was said to always have a witch by his side but wouldn't want to seduce Bonnie into joining his team after nearly reaching the damn near impossible feat of killing him? As a "novice" witch at that!

Additionally, Bonnie would've THRIVED in The Originals. TO was a very witch-centric show with a lot of characters I would've loved seeing Bonnie interact with. No offense to Hayley, but there's no denying that Bonnie being Hope's mother would have made more sense than what canon gave us.

3. Bonora

If Julie and Co didn’t want Bonnie to date one of their precious fan-favorite white men, fine. Bonora was there and would’ve been such a nice ship for Bonnie. Kat had been advocating for Bonnie to be bisexual for a long time to no avail instead we got Fr.eelin which, no shade, is basically shein Bonora despite Kat having great chemistry with women as well as men. If you had put Nora in Enzo's place in the later 2 seasons of the show very little would’ve changed. In fact, Bonnie’s arc would’ve significantly improved.

4. Kennett

Kennett has somewhat slipped down my ranking due to how disgusting the actor who plays Kol is, but for the ship's sake let’s just imagine Daniel Sherman was the one to start off playing Kol, okay? Okay <3

Kol was said to have a love of witches very early on in the show. The most consistent thing about his character was how he stayed connected to magic despite no longer being able to practice it himself. Bonnie was undisputedly the most powerful witch he had ever come across. Why wasn’t he more interested in her? Bonnie was the one solving everyone’s magical issues as a 17-year-old self-trained witch. Kol would’ve loved to dissect her mind, watch her do spells, and even share his own 1000 years' worth of knowledge about magic with her.

5. Tonnie

I honestly don’t have much to say about Tonnie, but I do think they could’ve been fun in the later seasons. Julie said that her shitty alternative ending for Bonnie was her ending up with Matt and having children with him, which sucks ASS by the way, and while I had the idea of Bonnie getting an even more half-baked romance than she got with Jeremy and Enzo, I would've sucked it up if it were with Tyler. Bonnie and Tyler were childhood friends and should've gotten even closer when Elena and Matt started dating considering they were their best friends. I can definitely imagine Elena trying to force Bonnie on a double date with her, Matt, and Tyler.

While Forwood is one of my favorite canon TVDU ships, Tyler and Bonnie bonding early on over their supernatural heritage would've made a lot more sense given that witches and werewolves traditionally get along significantly better than either species do with vampires.

6. Bamon

If you had asked me this in 2020/21, Bamon would've topped my list. I don't by any means hate them, but I'm admittedly not as fond of them anymore. I feel like Bamon is most serious Bonnie stans first, and/or most beloved ship. And it makes sense! Bonnie and Damon had excellent chemistry, a large amount of focus on their relationship in season 6 and onward, and a lot of romantically coded scenes despite the writers' hopes of dissuading the fans. My biggest gripe with Bamon is that, like most dynamics including Damon, Damon benefits from having Bonnie in his life significantly more than Bonnie benefits from having Damon in her life. Additionally, given how they wrote Steroline in regards to Stelena, how Bamon would play out in canon in regards to Delena sounds like a nightmare to me.

7. Bonenzo

Bonenzo is Bonnie's best canon ship but lord knows that's not saying a lot. The ship felt as if the writers took bits and pieces from Bamon and Kennett/Kolvina and said "Here, damn!" in hopes to shut Bonnie fans up. I honestly wouldn't dislike them nearly as much if they were actually endgame. Enzo's presence was merely to give Bonnie a romance, and he didn't even fulfill the means that justified his existence.

8. Beremy

He cheated on her with a ghost. Enough said.

You do realize that the few MOC we did have in the series died early? If I was posting about shipping Bonnie with Vincent/Marcel which I have no problem too. It would still be non-canon shipping? TVDU was never the home for diversity in the first place. LGCs probably has the most diverse cast and even then it was do shut the fans up who complained during TVD/TO.

Bonnie’s relatives are canonically included in multiple plots. Take Ayana with the Mikaelson’s. Grams with the Gemini coven for examples because I’m not going to explain them all to you. If you watched tvd then you’d know how heavily the Bennett’s was in creating things.

But why do I ship her with so many non-canon men or women. Short answer it’s because I can. Long answer is it’s because I can AND have an imagination. Bonnie’s canon love interests are white too. But, Bonnie’s romances have continuously been an afterthought because the writers racism with her. TVD is a romance show until it pertains to Bonnie with a lot of you then you come in with your critics and rules on how Bonnie doesn’t need…..So again, what were you trying to gain here off of me? You MAY be going for a “got you” moment and you’re not going to get it. Can I ask do you have this argument towards Elena and Caroline fans who participate in non-canon shipping? Elena can be shipped with the Mikaelson’s who have either a.) abused her or b.) referred to her as a doppelgänger/the one they were close to in the past and no one questions those fans. Caroline can be turned into a witch and be the queen of NOLA with Klaus and no one bothers those fans. Why do you have this rule to Bonnie ships? I’m not sure why you chose to bother me on how I engage. If you don’t like anything I share or post it’s very simple to ignore and block me.

Born within the Dark Ages / Early Middle Ages in what would now be considered England, Cersei was brought up surrounded by anything and everything she could ever want or need. Her family founded, owned, and operated one of the largest gold mines of the Roman Empire, and when the Empire fell, their fortune was then reallocated to funding the Catholic church. They have continued to do this to this day, unbeknownst to the public in modern times.

Cersei, her twin brother, and their younger brother never knew strife and rarely sickness. Their family provided everything for them save for the concept of a warm and loving home. When Cersei was a teenager, all she wanted was to have a family of her own so that she could give them what she lacked her whole life: a mother. Hers died in childbirth for her little brother, which she never forgave him for, and which cemented in Cersei’s mind her want and need for family.

Married off to another wealthy family at the age of 16, Cersei began having children as soon as she could. She had 3 in total – Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen. Her entire life became taking care of her children, and while she adored her children, she didn’t necessarily enjoy being married to her husband. He was cruel, and uncaring, and wanted nothing to do with her other than to make more children, as he put it. She endured him and their marriage solely for her children, but felt from a young age that she was not solely interested in men when it came to love and sex.

In fact, the idea of being in love with a man seemed absolutely foreign to her. She had only ever loved one person aside from her mother, and it was a friend she made at church the year before her marriage. The girl’s name was Myrciel (murr-seel), and the two remained very close for many years. Cersei named her daughter after her, and Myrciel named her own daughter after Cersei.

Even into adulthood, Cersei remained steadfast in the fact that Myrciel is the only person she thinks she ever truly loved aside from her children. This becomes apparent in the way the two frequently drank together, talking for hours and hours and also somehow always ending up sleeping in one another’s beds as well. Their husbands remain oblivious, their children simply think they are very close friends, but others become suspicious. Highly suspicious.

A servant of Myrciel’s home catches the two women in “an act of sin” – as he described it – and immediately reports them to the church. Cersei’s family being who they are, pay off church officials to keep it quiet. Myrciel’s husband and family, however, are not as lucky. While the news is kept quiet as per Cersei’s father’s request, another part of his request is to have Myrciel put to death in a quiet and efficient manner, so Cersei no longer has the ability to disgrace their family and her husband.

Cersei’s father arranges for Myrciel’s death to be seen from a specific window in their family home, invites Cersei over alone for a family dinner, and forces her as well as her siblings to watch Myrciel be bludgeoned to death by church authorities.

Cersei is absolutely devastated, of course. She is not even able to leave the window until her father is absolutely sure that Myrciel is dead, but when she gets to the body, she finally breaks. Cersei sobs over Myrciel’s body for what feels like hours, she can feel her heart shattering into shards of the love she once felt for this woman. She begs god for help, but god is the very reason Myrciel is dead.

She realizes god will not help her. And so she turns to everything but god.

Cersei takes Myrciel’s body to a known witch, someone who had been outcast long ago and who Myrciel spoke about being a kind and caring person regardless of what people said about them. She begs the woman to do something, to bring Myrciel back, but the woman tells her that she can’t do that. She instead offers Cersei revenge and vengeance, she offers to give Cersei the power to avenge Myrciel’s death and prevent others like it, but it would come at a cost. Cersei says she does not care what the cost is.

The witch gives Cersei a jar and tells her to drink its contents on the next full moon. When Cersei does this, she immediately loses consciousness, waking in the middle of a clearing in the forest behind her family’s estate. There is a woman standing above her with nothing but blackness for eyes, and the witch is nowhere to be found. Cersei questions where the witch is, but the woman laughs in response, and her voice is laced with something Cersei cannot place. It’s almost otherworldly, and it’s terrifying, and Cersei tries to run, but the woman stops her. She says that Cersei drank the potion that summons her, so she must make an offering and strike a deal.

Cersei was never told this, but if she was going to leave with her life, she would have to comply. The woman tells her that the offering she must make is a sacrifice of something she holds dear, but Cersei refuses to lose anyone else close to her. The only other thing she cared about were her children, and she made it very clear that she was not willing to sacrifice any of them for any reason whatsoever.

The woman – demon, as Cersei would later find out – kisses her without saying another word. Something moves from the woman’s throat into Cersei’s, it feels like smoke but thicker and denser, and the moment it moves into Cersei’s stomach she begins to feel an immense amount of pain. The woman once again stands over her as Cersei falls to the ground screaming. She’s saying that from now on, Cersei will no longer have the ability to have children, but she will require the act of making them to continue living. As long as she feeds, she will stay alive, but she will no longer age. She will have the strength and abilities to crush those she wishes to seek retribution from, but she will not be able to love another person like she loved Myrciel or else she will eventually starve and die.

Once the pain stops, Cersei manages to get out words. She says “I’ll never love anyone like I loved her, anyway.” She loses consciousness again.

This time when she comes back, Cersei actually feels different. She can feel power thrumming through her body but it’s nearly completely overshadowed by the emptiness she feels. It’s like hunger, but also vastly different, and Cersei doesn’t even bother to check if the woman is still there or not. She heads to her family’s estate, finds her father, and immediately begins attacking him. To her surprise, her nails do not break when she scratches him, her fists don’t hurt when she hits him. The strength she has is unnatural; she is able to pick up her father by his throat and throw him across the room. She doesn’t care, though. She beats him to death, screaming at him the entire time, even after he’s dead.

Cersei moves on to the church authorities that killed Myrciel, then Myrciel’s husband, and plans to end with her own husband, but the hunger in her is too vast and too deep for her strength to continue. She remembers the woman saying something about feeding, but she can’t figure out what she is supposed to feed on. She plans to figure it out later, and simply use a knife on her husband, but the moment she sees him something inside her recognizes the need she has.

She kisses him as the woman had done to her, and feels a warmth inside her chest immediately. Cersei can feel whatever it is she needs flowing into her and her strength restores enough for her to crush her husband’s head while still attached at the mouth.

Covered in blood and entrails, Cersei tries to take her children and leave, but they are terrified of her. She realizes that in trying so desperately to make the woman understand her children were not on the table, she had lost them either way. She would have either died, sacrificed them, or they would end up seeing her as a monster as they do now. She tries to tell herself that this is the better option, that at least they are alive and can thrive even if it’s away from her. She does not believe that, though.

Cersei has spent the last 1,400 years learning what she is, if there are more of her, and in turn learning more about the supernatural world. While there are others of her kind, they are few and far between, and she rarely runs into them. She has watched over her children closely, but never too closely, and she has kept track of her family line all the way up until modern times. In the 16th century, her family took the surname Lannister after the head of household at the time. Cersei has used this surname ever since.

POWERS:

superhuman strength. gets stronger the older she gets. strongest after a fresh feed. (tvdu: equal to that of a 300-500 year old vampire.) however, she does not have supernatural speed.

indestructible/unkillable unless starved. (tvdu: this ability is NOT like vampires’ ability to be “killed” but come back to life.) nothing will kill her. she can have her neck snapped, heart pulled out, bleed to death, etc. but it will not kill her. not even temporarily. depending on how recently she has fed and the quality of the energy she fed on, whatever injury that should have killed her will regenerate/heal/grow back within a minute. 

enhanced senses. sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste. (tvdu: equal to that of a 300-500 year old vampire.)

allure. a form of involuntary compulsion. being within 1 meter / 3 feet of her will cause someone to be drawn to her, and if they give in (consent) to the thoughts/compulsion, she can “persuade” them to tell her nothing but the truth. however, she cannot force them to do whatever she says, and the person must consent VERBALLY for her to sleep with them. this power cannot be turned off or controlled by cersei.

INFORMATION ON FEEDING:

she must be kissing someone to feed from them.

feeding can happen without sex, but the strength that’s restored from it will not be as strong or last as long unless she feeds during sex. 

after effects on someone cersei has fed from include: fatigue, lack of sexual drive for up to 3 days, lethargy, and on rare occasions loss of consciousness. the timing of these effects are cut in half if she feeds from a supernatural creature. 

if she feeds from a human, she is capable of killing them if she takes too much energy.

she gains the most energy from vampires, and therefore seeks them out the most to feed on. 

cersei prefers to feed on cishet men and kill them afterward, regardless of what species they are, but she is capable of feeding from any gender. 

what happens when cersei is starved or hungry: becomes pale, eyes become entirely black, loses strength, loses energy, becomes noticeably irritable/aggressive, migraine/headache, hair loses color and breaks off, she is more easily injured and does not regenerate as quickly.

death will happen between 6-8 weeks without feeding. she will desiccate and turn into ashes. her ashes can be used to bring her back, but only the demon that made her has the capability of doing that.

WEAKNESSES:

drinking too much; this causes her to be even less aware of her allure ability as well as numbs her heightened senses and makes her more vulnerable to attack.

stop hating women for having emotions

A trend throughout a lot of fandoms, and particularly TVDU, is to celebrate men for showing the bare minimum in emotional maturity and then hating women for trying to work through their own emotions. I've seen this so much recently with Hayley. She gets hate from all sides of the fandom because of the men people stan.

Now don't get me wrong, there are legitimate reasons to not like her in certain aspects, but if you have to mention a man's name to try and explain it to me, you've already lost me. Every man she comes in contact with has done equal if not worse. You don't need to hate a character simply because you like another character.

I've seen it from Klaus stans, Elijah stans, Jackson stans, etc. People use any excuse to hate her because she isn't as devoted to their fav toxic man as they are.

Personally, Hayley is one of my favorite characters in TVDU. And everyone knows my top favorite character is Elijah. Sure, I wish the writers would have given us more haylijah, but blaming Hayley solely for that is ridiculous. Elijah spent all of season 1 putting up barriers and still the only reason she turns to someone else is because she wants to protect her daughter. She then sacrifices nearly her entire life for the Mikaelson family. Jackson stans hate her because she doesn't love him like they think he deserves, but again, she never breaks her promise to him. The marriage was always political. Jackson knew this but caught feelings anyway, this is not Hayley's fault that he wanted to make it more. Klaus stans hate Hayley for so many reasons I can't even list them, but they are all utterly ridiculous. One thing Hayley will always do is put Hope first, not Klaus, as any mother would do. Maybe if the other mothers in the show had done this, we wouldn't have such toxic men (also this is not shifting blame onto women just pointing out the cycle of trauma).

Hayley, unlike many of the men, had good intentions most of the time and actually had character growth. She went from being a selfish, reckless young woman to a completely selfless, caring mother and alpha.

We see the same trends with Rebekah, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, etc. All of the women are condemned whenever they try to process their emotions or put themselves first for once in their lives. I know the cast is made up of some attractive men, but we need to stop being so blinded by their appearance that we cannot recognize the importance of women fighting for their own happiness. Even if that happiness isn't from an attractive man. As Christina Yang would say, "He's not the sun, you are."

in which the man would call his love interest ‘the only important thing in life’ and how they’d burn down all bridges to ensure their safety (what Hope did when she tried rescuing Landon from the prison world) and instead of the fans recognizing that as unhealthy we call it goals and despise the love interest when she backs off from the guy.

people are mad about freya, rebekah AND hope being bisexual and. none of them ever said they were explicitly into men, it isn’t a retcon in the slightest, someone’s previous relationships or flings aren’t indicative of their sexuality. if we want to be mad about something, can we please make it the fact that rebekah’s sexuality was used for a threesome and then Not Brought Up Again?

all the male tvdu characters attracted to men being canonically gay isn’t necessarily a Bad Thing but it is weird to me, though, that the female characters are allowed (hm) to be bisexual. even weirder, no actual main guy in the tvdu was canonically anything other than straight despite plenty of the actors voicing their opinion that they were into both men and women. we all got the vibes and they Were backed up by the actors. maybe you could argue there was no way to casually drop it into the script but we got plenty of innuendos and no follow through. klaus went as far as to say lucien (doubtful) and tristan aren’t his type while implying they were elijah’s. we Know klaus is not straight but this was supposed?? to be a quip about elijah not being straight and they left it at that; a joke. everyone pretty much thinks klefan were together. damon and enzo had All Of That going on. sigh.

but no. all of our confirmed male characters were strictly gay (and they all died, except for those two in legacies? maybe. if they’re alive, good for them.) and... having gay characters isn’t BAD. that’s not what i’m saying. i’m happy we got who we got. i just think. that it was nice we got canonical lesbians and women who were bisexual and pansexual and some of them even managed to get happy endings and then the men just. hmm. y’know.

So, I have a genuine question. Do you hate the women of TVD/TO or something? Or just hate women and female characters in general? Because it seems like any time you talk about any of the women on TVD or TO, it's always something rude, nasty, and degrading, and you victim blaming/shaming them for their traumas, or slut shaming them. Meanwhile, I don't hear you say a thing about your male faves, who have done equally as bad or even worse things or literally the exact same things that you hate the girls for. Why do white male writers think that “rape” is an important part of female character development? While it literally does absolutely nothing and just there for shock value.

Not just white male writers but in some cases female writers aswell. I want to unpack some of my favourite female characters and how getting sexually assaulted did absolutely nothing for their character development.

Daenerys Targaryen (GoT)

Dany was sold off to Khal Drogo by her brother Viserys, please keep in mind that I am focusing on Dany from the show and not the book cause I have never read George RR Martins work.

Dany after getting married was continuously raped by her husband until she finally took charge and decided that she would assume control in bed. What twisted male fantasy is this? That a woman was continually raped and one day she not only accepted it but decided that she would please her rapist?

This plot line did absolutely nothing for Danys character line, if the sexual assault storyline did not exist Dany would still have gone and earned the titles she had and she still would’ve become Khal of Khals. This plot line did nothing but feed the male audience who further sexualised Dany or as they call her “Kaleesi” for no reason at all. (I’ve only seen men call Daenerys “Kaleesi”)

Caroline Forbes (TVD)

Imagine being written by a female writer and still be subjected to sexual assault and then have your abuser get the mOst ePic reDemPtiOn aRcs of all time.

Alot of people in the fandom refuse to talk about this plot line because Damon Salvatore is the stud of TVDU. But in season 1 Damon compelled Caroline and used her as his food source and continuously subjected her to sexual violence. Damon did not face any consequences to his actions at all, he was awarded with an epic storyline, a redemption arc, and he also got the main female protagonist. Furthermore, the topic never came up in the TVDU and no one even knew about it, and the show ended with Caroline and Damon being faMiLy.

The writers subjected Caroline Forbes to an extremely traumatic experience that she magically recovered from for the sake of OT3, the sexual violence plot line was not only forgotten but it did absolutely nothing for this female characters storyline. Her abuser faced no consequences and the show moved on and never acknowledged the trauma she went through.

Kisa/ Santanico Pandemonium (FDTD)

Kisa is probably one of the best female characters to ever exist out there. Her story line was exceptionally well written.

She was subjected to life of slavery and she wanted to take revenge. But later on we learn that she was also raped by her captor, which I think we could’ve done without. It did absolutely nothing for her storyline and just portrayed her as a victim to a man’s aggression. Before this revelation Kisa was on a path to vengeance and after that she was still on the very same path. Then what was the point of this new plot line or revelation?

Astrid (Vikings)

Astrid was kidnapped by King Herald, and it was in his kindgom that she was raped and subjected to sexual violence by various men. Astrid’s storyline was already a strong one as Lagertha’s lover and it absolutely did not need the whole King Herald trope.

If the writers wanted to kill her, she could have died at Lagertha’s side during a battle but the writers chose to subject her to a traumatic storyline for no reason at all.

Cersei Lannister (GoT)

Cersei was the epic female villain the show deserved. She didn’t have to be dead white man turned into an ice zombie to be terrifying. But the writers way of “humanising” her was subjecting her to sexual violence. Cersei was raped by Jamie Lannister on her sons funeral and it did absolutely nothing for her storyline.

The trope was extremely sexist, as if the writers were trying to convey a message about gender hierarchy on the show. That no matter how powerful she is, she is “vulnerable” to a man, to a knight.

Ingrid (Vikings)

Ingrid was Bjorn’s second wife who was raped by King Herald while she was staying in his Kingdom with her husband. The entire rape storyline did nothing for the shows plot line and was just in bad taste, and the worst part was King Herald did not face any consequences to his actions and died a hErO while fighting the Christians.

Sansa Stark (GoT)

Sansa was the epitome of the “male fantasy” a timid, petite white girl who needed to be saved. And the only way they could change that and make her strong for the viewers was through years and years to sexual humiliation and abuse.

Jeoffery humiliated Sansa again and again, in the court but that was not her breaking point. It was when she was sold off to Ramsay who then raped that she was considered strong. But to be honest for me Sansa was strong from the start and rape storyline was nothing but way of promoting sexual violence on the silver screen to attract a larger body of male viewers.

Brooke Davis (OTH)

Brooke is one of the most iconic and forever green characters on screen. But in during season 5 or 6 an intruder entered her house and assaulted her (I am not sure if sexual violence was involved or not). That was a plot line that the writers dragged on for a long period of time and for a while it did add to her story line but then it was completely forgotten.

That plot did nothing for Brooke’s character growth as she a was strong independent women before it happened and she was the same person after the events occurred.

(I am sorry for this post being too white, I couldn’t think of more PoC characters for this post. If you can remember any please feel free to add them. As, women of color are shown in more violent sexual situations than white women on screen.)

The point of this post is that sexual violence never adds anything to the female characters growth. Then why is it portrayed on screen? For shock value?
