I had a thought (surprise)
#perfect solution to the issues with the live action Snow White remake#im not familiar with all the problems but for the issue people have with a snow white who's not actually light skinned:#they should've made snow white a lesbian#listen#she lives in a cottage in the woods with seven men#so it would be some fun irony#plus#you get an EXTRA princess!#two princesses for the price of one!#AND#you could cast a white or asian actress as Snow (so that she has light skin)#but then cast a dark skinned actress as her hero!#TWO PRINCESSES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE#LISTEN OK#plus it would be so cute to have shots that focus on their hand or something and snow's hand is literally snow white#and then her gf's hand is like properly dark#so you could have Snow White having snow white skin and ebony black hair#and then her gf with snow white hair and ebony skin#(the hair's not that important on the gf but just a shot of the contrasting skin colours of their hands would be so beautiful#like the type of shit i save to use in paintings)#opportunity missed tbh it could've been so good

I cannot believe that no one bought this elegant little gem of an 1877 2nd Empire townhouse in Minneapolis, MN. It's decorated in grand Baroque style, has 1bd, 2ba, 1,799 sq ft, $989k + $1,029mo. HOA. Maybe it's priced too high? Zillow says it's worth about $935k. The high HOA fee could also be a factor.
Come on, now. NOBODY expects the Baroque Townhouse! Look at the entrance- got some gothic doors, architectural salvage light fixture from a church, and what could be better than a wine rack where you can grab a bottle as soon as you walk thru the door? It also looks like a mini bar. What a way to greet guests.
They really did a lot of work on this place. That's why I think it's priced at almost $1m. The woodwork, alone, is incredible. Look at the delightful dining room that looks like it's under an arbor.
Stone wall with niches. Antique chandelier.
This is a sitting room fit for a queen.
Different areas of the home are done in different styles. The ornate sitting room is Baroque with a massive fireplace and chandeliers.
The custom kitchen has a Frenchy flair and it also has an Aga stove (big bucks) with a mosaic backsplash. Look at the flowers painted on the counters.
You can see the pantry on the left, plus plenty storage in the cabinetry, and another mosaic backsplash behind the sink.
There's a copper ceiling over the dining area. This is an eat-kitchen so you can enjoy it every day. View from the windows looks out toward the city.
Beautiful, cozy den has a door to the garden. Gorgeous wainscoting, wood ceiling, brick wall w/shelves, and stained glass windows.
Your guests get to use this fabulous powder room with an intricately carved sink topped by a marble counter, gold swan faucet, and a cut crystal bowl for a sink.
Down the hall is an Asian-inspired full bath with a carved black marble tub and a huge dragon head faucet.
Look at that thing. Then, right across, behind folding doors, they've got a convenient laundry room.
Check out the pattern of the marble in the shower.
Large bath has a beautifully painted chest-turned-sink, and a private water closet.
The magnificent entrance to the bath is guarded by foo dogs.
The bedroom decor ties in with the theme of the bath.
The doorway to the bath is in the bedroom. The walls look like a teahouse.
The stairs have murals and carved doors. The home has 3 levels and I can't discern what floors the rooms are on, b/c as usual, the real estate photos are completely mixed up.
Impeccably maintained garages.
I wish they would've shown the sunrooms and rooftop terraces. Look at the glass structures on the roof.
That's the Mississippi River going by. The home is actually on a little island called Nicollet Island.

Slytherin Traits
Note: This is just my interpretation of Slytherin traits. Take what resonates, and leave what doesn't đ
âThose cunning folk use any means to achieve their endsâ - Work smart, not hard. Colleges and publishers deem textbook piracy âimmoralâ and âunfairâ to other students who pay full price for books. But when higher education prices are inflated by privileged administrators, this power imbalance nullifies such comments. It also reminds me of a quote I saw spray-painted on a wall:Â
âIf paying is not owning, then pirating isnât stealing.â I wouldnât go out and steal a physical textbook, but no real money is lost if I replicate a few hundred pixels on a screen so that I can finish my education
Additionally, choosing to play âfairâ in a system designed to exert control over people with less privilege and power will not benefit you. The same people setting arbitrary standards for âfairnessâ can often be the same ones benefiting from those rules.
Continuing on with being cunning, bending the rules here and there can help you level the playing field. Blanket statements and generalized restrictions donât affect everyone equally. For example, exams that rely on hard memorization, and testing environments that punish students for fidgeting are ableist and severely limit the types of students who will be able to succeed in school/university.Â
In my case, my class was allowed to bring a single note sheet to our final exam. I have trouble memorizing formulae/processes, but can solve nuclear reactor physics if the formulae are in front of me. Although the professor advised against writing out full examples, I bought an ultra-thin writing ink pen and crammed all the exampled I needed. I passed.
Ambition, defined as âa strong desire to do or achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work.â Ambition is very subjective. One Slytherinâs ambition may be to graduate at the top of their class and become an expert in their field. Anotherâs ambition might be to set healthy boundaries for themselves to prioritize their mental health. Someone elseâs goal might just be to get out of bed that day. The only person who can decide the importance of your goal is yourself.
Everyone has different abilities, desires, material resources, and life experience. No matter the goal, ambition is essential for completion, and success in any measure deserves celebration.
Speaking of accomplishments, pride can be a well-deserved reward for achieving your goals. You more than deserve to celebrate your successes. Taking pride in your achievements can help build self-confidence. Feeling capable, accomplished, and proud of yourself can be empowering.
In my experience, itâs a lot easier to underestimate yourself than it is to oversell your accomplishments. If youâre someone who tends to downplay your abilities/accomplishments, thereâs a chance that youâre selling yourself short. Take pride in yourself. Youâve earned it.
Slytherins also understand how it feels to be Othered, negatively stereotyped, or feared. As a queer POC and one of only ten women in my major (bearing in mind that my university's graduating class size is 10,000 people per year), I know what it feels like to be singled out. I was also the only Asian student in my high school class, and the only family of color for a 1-mile radius in my hometown.Â
People tend to see you through their own narrow-minded lenses and stereotypes. This isn't a reflection of you, but merely a projection of their own prejudice and ignorance. No matter your reason for feeling Othered, know that their comments and limited perceptions are merely their own self-reflections.

Oooo anyway I just remember why I Hate and Loathe the big High Lord meeting in ACOWAR and why it fully cements SJM in my Worst Authors category for like a billion reasons
1. Feyre refuses to bow to the Dawn Court. Weird choice and completely fucking awkward to read - I guess this is meant as some kind of Girlboss Moment - like "no, I won't bow to the stinky old fashioned MEN!!!! who run this world. My super hot boyfriend gave me this title and I'm the master of the universe now." But it's... childish. Also? Way to disrespect Thesan but this is going to become a pattern because of course the gay Asian High Lord has no special powers apart from super good healing that literally every other character can accomplish, and of course he's gentle, and passive (ultimately willing to "bow [to Rhysand] if the other [High Lords] will") and of course his lover has no name and never speaks. Great! Hate it.
2. Morrigan and Vivian. On paper this seems interesting as far as a relationship goes like - what kind of interesting Court relations did Night have pre Amarantha and can those bonds be salvaged? But instead of asking those questions the scene decides to immediately undercut Vivian's character as a badass general and warrior who defended Winter in her childhood friend/future husband's absence by making her squeal like a literal 13 year old when the Night Court - who is suspected of murdering 24 children - shows up. Vivian proceeds to throw a fit and snarks about wanting to be a High Lady. Rip Vivian we hardly knew ye.
3. Do I even need to talk about Helion being the worst bisexual rep. Do I even need to say it. Good lord.
4. Do I even need to talk about Fantasy China and Helion being allied with the Faerie Confederates. Do I even need to explain this. It gets worse, somehow!
5. Tamlin and Tarquin actually have a case against allying with the Night Court given literally everything that happened in the last two books but this isn't painted as reasonable distrust of a group of lying backstabbing sycophants who purposefully play up their cruelty and keep secrets from the other Courts. No, of course not. Tarquin immediately forgives the Night Court because he has no backbone whatsoever apparently. Tamlin is considered unreasonable for not trusting Feyre and Rhys, who have continuously tried to hurt him and his people and undermine his authority as High Lord.
6. Everyone immediately forgets that Rhysand worked for Amarantha for 50 years and distrusts Tamlin, who has worked for Hybern for all of five minutes and also brings tons of information on their troop movements and positions, confirming that all of his so called alliance was a fraud and he's been spying on them the whole time.
7. Literally the whole fucking deal with the Winter Court. Like I'm sorry that Rhys is so sexual traumatized by Amarantha but children fucking died in a horrible, gruesome way that now, nobody can be accountable for. This is on my top 3 of most egregious SJM retcons because I'm supposed to believe that some daemati we've never heard of before, is never mentioned or seen again, is supposedly the missing link to absolve Rhysand of the fact that he murdered 24 children in book one and devastated the Winter Court. Give me a fucking break. And Feyre gets so SAD and hurt when Rhys says he was confined to Amaranthaâs bedroom, but I guess dead kids in Winter and Spring are just the price you pay for loving a morally gray bryonic hero uwu. I'd say, "Get fucked," but i think Rhys and Feyre would enjoy that too much.
8. When the Autumn Court says mean things it makes them irredeemable, but when Azriel and Feyre break all the rules of magic and physically retaliate and hurt other people, it's a-okay, and totally justified! Oh, the Lady of Autumn (another unnamed, sad silent [white] victim who only exists for Helion to angst over) gets hurt by virtue of being a bystander? Totally cool and normal, and since she's been a victim of domestic violence before, it means that she's a secret good guy who will totally understand and forgive Feyre for her totally justifiable outburst. Fuck off.
9. Feyre speaking to and ordering Azriel around like a literal rabid dog. Do I even need to explain this and why its bad. Do I even need to say it.
10. This scene was a joke and everything about it was a stinking trash fire.
#anti sjm#anti acowar#like.... do i need to explain the racism and homophobia?? the misogyny???? i hope not

I would love to hear an extended rant about being an artist in a periphery country, if you're willing to say more.
sorry for this being late! but yes there are quite a few things to this.
1) EDUCATION/JOB OFFERINGS
when you are from a periphery country, the art education accessible to you is much worse than in the imperial core. yes, i know, you dont need to go to art school, you can be self-taught, you dont need a degree, but art school is about making potential job connections. in a country like croatia, you do not have access to those connections. you do not have ability to go out, show your portfolio, get reccommended by a professor for a listing. the education is stunted as well - the animation program here is atrocious, my building had an attic with dead pigeon corpses littering the room, there are no drawing tablets, computers are old, the building is leaking, but the lack of ability to make professional connections is the main concern.
also, your degree? people hear you got a degree from a balkans land and you are immediately less worthy in their eyes. your name, which is not anglo? crossed out, despite your skills. job offerings within your country? good luck, everyone lives in poverty, you are underpaid, and studios hiring can be named on fingers of one hand. you are left with earning online.
and you are left with earning illegally. making author contracts with pdv, taxes, etc is incredibly complicated when working over upwork, doing commissions etc. this does constitute as black market. we do not hand in our taxes like in the usa, theyre deducted from our salaries and contracts immediately. this means you are missing out on potential grants and statuses which require you to provide papers of your commissions. it also means that transfering money over paypal has to go into small amounts to your own account, to avoid suspicious activity.
2) ART TOOLS ACCESIBILITY
a thing that is very frustrating. living in a periphery country? good luck getting anything. art shops are scarce. art shops do not carry the same amounts of items, and they are more expensive than in their mother countries. you are left with office supply stores. the quality of accessible paints and other tools is lower. its already been proven that products shipped to eastern europe are of lower quality and higher price than in the west; and this goes for paints too.
this means that, if you do traditional art of any kind, you are left with shopping online. this includes shipping - youre in a periphery country? congrats, often it does not ship to it, or the shipping is atrocious. your choices? mostly deutschland amazon - every item has 10⏠shipping minimum. prices are not adjusted to your salary, they are adjusted to the german ones, which are much higher. i have to regularly order fillings for my brushpen. it is not available in my country. the price on amazon is significantly higher than on pentel website, and their usa based shipping. yes, just the price of the product. pentel does not ship this to my country btw. aliexpress is what you have, it takes 2 months to arrive, is frequently lost in mail, and even with it being cheaper - its still a bit more expensive than the original.
3) ALGORITHM, SOCIAL MEDIA
this is the third thing - algorithm works against you if you are not from the imperial core. of course, there are timezones, but also - your posts tend to be shown to people who live around you; meaning you have harder time breaking into the international market, and that market is the only viable one.
4) BEING PAID LESS
being eastern european (or asian or southern american or african or...) gets you lower salary. i indeed love my employers, i adore the comic i work on so much that its become my own project as well, theyve been nothing but kind to me - but the fact remains that i, as an eastern european, am and will always be paid much less than my usamerican counterparts.
5) JOB OPPORTUNITIES, ONCE AGAIN, ENGLISH LANGUAGE
adding this but: its hard to break into cartoon network/adult swim/etc without being presently there. you cannot get to conventions, you cannot have your portfolio checked, and you must speak english. yes. anglos take english-speaking for granted, and fail to realize that actually speaking english for us is not a privilege, its a necessity, and its a tool of imperialism. it is unfair that you cannot do ANYTHING without speaking english. you cannot get jobs, you cannot advance your career, and while i personally speak english quite well, not everyone does, not everyone should have to.
anyway sorry for the length

Before any further, the fantastic towers you need to get in order to fully enjoy Champignac come from MTS ( Mod the Sims ) and have been converted from The Sims Medieval by Votenga ( MEDIEVAL TOWERS & BUILDINGS ) you may find there :)

I started my first hand sewing project! More of a severe mending but itâs good to practice. I have some embroidery plans for Christmas ornamemts along with some crafts. On Saturday Iâm going to see a home museum from 1888 so Iâm very excited about that. Also Iâm going to go out to go eat, just not sure where yet but something Asian not oily and no meat. My Christmas embroidery plans consist of a snowman, Christmas tree, and two embroidery pies. Iâve wanted to do embroidery pies for a while but why not make it festive. Iâm going to do a cherry and pumpkin one. Also going to buy some more needles because I suck at threading and this one is the only one I can thread. For couching you need two needles and itâs annoying to re thread it because I only have one that I can use. I tried all the others but itâs just not coming to me. Iâm doing the Christmas ornaments on a 3 inch hoop and I measured it with my ornaments and my ornaments are the same size! Iâm attempting to put more soul into my Christmas decorations because we have some colored ornaments and snowflakes but the ornaments are mostly grey sparkly stuff. I made a list for what to buy at the craft store so here it is.
Thin rope to wrap some floss around for a candy cane.
Popsicle sticks for a little sled.
Pipe cleaners for a mini tree.
Pom Pomâs for a mini garland. Not fuzzy ones though.
Square mirror tape for a mirror-ball.
Clay
Glue sticks because I need them anyways
Going to check the prices of hot glue guns.
Ribbons.
And some floss shades for my embroidery pies.
When I was younger I used to craft a lot and I want to get back into it. I used to paint and do all sorts of crafts. I did it with my grandmas neighbor she was very kind, I miss her. I also might try some felting ornaments.

The Most Expensive Stock in India:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
A 73,600x increase in just two days
Elcid Investments, the Most Expensive Stock in India: From âč3 to âč2,36,250
A 73,600x increase in just two days
The share price of Elcid Investments started off only at âč3.21. However, shortly after being relisted on the BSE on October 29, 2024, its share value increased to 225,000 rupees before closing 5% up at 236,250 rupees. Not only did this increase boost the profile of Elcid Investments, but it also made it the highest priced share in India, overtaking MRF Ltd that had its shares trading at 122,576.50 rupees on that day.
What is Elcid Investments and who owns it?
Elcid Investments is an NBFC incorporated with the Reserve Bank of India that is engaged in the business of investing in equities, bonds, mutual funds and other related securities. The business is also parent to two firms, Suptaswar Investments & Trading Company Limited and Murahar Investments & Trading Company Limited. Each of these subsidiaries are also registered with RBI as NBFCs.
75% of the Mumbai based non banking finance company Elcid is owned by the owners of Asian Paints whereas Hydra Trading and 3 A Capital Services owns 9.04% and 3.34% of the company respectively.
Business Overview
Excluding the managing director, only three people remained in the full employment category with the firm. In financial Year 24 which is the year in which Elcid Investments companyâs net profits climbed by 139 % to 176 crores rupees.
The balked share capital rose in its sales more than two-folds to 236 crores in the year under review. There were only 200,000 shares issued and outstanding at the end of September 2024, 75 percent of which are promoters. There were 241 traded stocks at the centre(s) BSE on Tuesday against the average volume of 100 days of five shares.
What made the price of shares for Elcid Investments outrun other stocks?
The company's re-list on the BSE on 29 October 2024 raised the stock price which led the shareholders to immense profit. The company's capital now stands at rupees 4725 crores.
There was no delay in the selling of that particular share which was later followed up by a high frequency of buying due to mistakes from shareholders.
In June, the market regulator, Sebi, advised stock exchanges to conduct special call options for a few of the investment holding companies or holdco, whose shares are being offered at an extreme discount to the book value of the stocks.
It also issued a framework allowing some of the holding companies to bid for such price discovery. Holding companies hold interests in other assets including shares of listed companies without running any business activity on their own.
Consequently, the first of such call options developed on October 28 to discover prices and in two sessions, elcid shares increased Rs 236246.47.
Whatâs more puzzling is the fact that shares of Elcid stock were available at only Rs 3.53 till last week.
The book value of the stock was about Rs 5,84225 as at the end of March 2024, the last week price of Rs 3.53 was that of a Friday, which is the reason for the spike in the price. Even with this sudden spike, the company's book value has already been 2.5 times more than the Tuesday price of 236,250.
On Tuesday, Elcid investments closed shares at Rs 2, 32, 250 each, whereas shares in MRF were at Rs 1, 22, 577.
Another important reason for its high price is due to the ownership of Elcid Investments, which is around 8,500 crores and cited as owning more than 2,83,13,860 equity shares or a 2.95% stake in Asian Paints Ltd.
Indiaâs Most Expensive Stocks
Other than Elcid Investments, there are just 30 companies in India whose shares trade more than Rs10,000 apiece. Some stocks that stand out in this group include MRF, Page Industries, Honeywell Automation India, Shree Cement, 3M India, Abbott India, Nestle India, Bosch,Procter & Gamble Hygiene, and Lakshmi Machine Works. Investors engage with these stocks because they have a trustworthy return on investment and have proven to be sound investments that perform well over the long term.

I am a doll collector with BJD and buying parts or making hybrids can be a pain to color match. Just like playline dolls thereâs not much consistency between brands. Some resins age differently, too.
The most reliable color matching source would probably be something like Pantone color cards, but those are FREAKING EXPENSIVE and itâs not reasonable to expect everyone to have them.
BJD collecting is an expensive luxury hobby and there are some of us that do need to keep our spending as minimal as possible.
This skintone chips set (https://www.pantone.com/products/fashion-home-interiors/skintone-guide-limited-edition) has an excellent range of skin tones, but seems to be lacking the pasty pale practically white colors a lot of Asian BJD come in and costs as much as a lower-priced BJD.
This set (https://www.pantone.com/products/plastics/the-pantone-matching-system-plastic-standard-chips-collection) seems ideal for color matching plastics, which resin is, at first but itâs polypropylene chips which will degrade in a few years, and not all colors of urethane or epoxy resins can be replicated in polypropylene. Itâs also NINE THOUSAND FREAKING DOLLARS.
We all know Iâm always looking for something functional and accessible and $9k thatâs going to discolor and maybe even crumble in a decade is not my idea of accessible.
-
@maleficentmrsofallevilâ suggested a digital resource (https://redketchup.io/color-picker) which is free and accessible to most collectors that have an internet connection and using HEX codes is consistent across devices, however there are a few problems that we might run into.
Everyoneâs monitors/phone screens and cameras would have to be calibrated exactly the same, and everyoneâs lighting when making comparisons would have to be identical for this to be a viable resource. The hex chart being backlit could also skew the way it looks compared to a tangible resin sample.
Thatâs frustrating. Free and easy for most people to get a hold of is the ideal.
The main benefit of a physical vs digital resource for color matching is that the color sample and the doll are both subjected to the same lighting conditions, monitor settings, and camera settings so even if those factors vary between users, the comparison will still be relatively accurate.
-
A bunch of us sat around discussing different options. International hobby paint brands like Vallejo or Mr. Color, international makeup foundation color cards, etc. etc.
Iâve decided to give DMC embroidery floss color cards a try.
There are two versions.
One has samples of the actual floss in the book and costs about $40.
https://amzn.to/3Oq8G2f
The other has printed color blocks that presumably match the floss colors and costs about $10.
https://amzn.to/3Q2H8Bb
DMC are sticklers for their colors being the same across dye lots. Sometimes they change the numbers on colors and sometimes they discontinue colors all together, so we do still run into the issue of whether everyoneâs looking at the same color cards or different versions.
At $10, needing to replace or update the color card every few years isnât nearly as daunting as a $9k plastic samples set falling apart in your hands once a decade.
(Can you tell I hate polypropylene when used in conjunction with dolls?)
Other variables that will affect the efficacy of using DMC color cards are the conditions under which the color cards are kept like sun exposure, temperature, humidity etc. affecting either the color of the thread samples or the quality of the printed samples.
Another factor is consistency between printed samples.
I have not received these, yet, but my plan is to first compare them to each other to see how well the printed samples match the swatched samples, and then proceed from there.

Itâs the Third World meets Bangkok.
In "Squad" member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezâs district in New York City, those who are described as scantily dressed migrant prostitutes line blocks of a long commercial strip during all hours of the day and night, brazenly soliciting sex to passersby while their pimps strike fear into local business owners, one of whom told Fox News Digital heâs been threatened for speaking out and is on the verge of closing his store.
The trash-filled streets of Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, which encompasses the migrant-heavy communities of Corona, Jackson Heights and Elmhurst, has become a veritable hotbed for one of the worldâs oldest professions, and residents say that most elected officials and police are turning a blind eye to the neighborhood nightmare, which looks more like the famed brothel-filled red-light district streets of Bangkok than one of Americaâs biggest cities.
Illegal vendors also overrun the sidewalks, plying their hustle in what residents have likened to "Third World" conditions, cooking hot food out in the open devoid of any health certifications or inspections as hungry birds swoop down in search of leftovers and leaving their droppings along the way.Â
AOC DISTRICT NEIGHBORHOOD LABELED 'THIRD WORLD' AS MIGRANTS CLOG STREETS AND PROSTITUTES OVERRUN EVERY BLOCK
Known to locals as the "Avenue of the Sweethearts," this epicenter of vice is not some desolate area on the outskirts of a city but rather the heart of the borough of Queens underneath the areaâs main subway track that serves as a vital cog connecting Manhattan and its local schools to families, many of whom stream down the subway steps and are then inescapably met by armies of prowling solicitors.Â
Fox News Digital even recorded a man pushing his young son in a stroller past a group of five sex workers.
Residents say that students pass prostitutes every day on their way to school or on their way to local taekwondo centers situated along the busy strip and that the situation has become the norm for their youthful eyes with the alleged sex workers, mostly composed of Asian and Hispanic women, filling the sidewalks.Â
On Sept. 18, the NYPD raided a brothel just off Roosevelt Avenue and arrested three people. The following evening, Fox News Digital was conducting an interview in front of the raided premises when an alleged sex worker and her reported john casually walked out of the same building.Â
On one block along Roosevelt Avenue, Fox News Digital cameras recorded a line of no less than 19 alleged sex workers on the sidewalk. Around the corner, there were at least seven more, and a woman on the next block was witnessed soliciting sex for $60.
Nearby, vendors sell everything from used clothes to pots and pans or tools. More recently, female vendors have begun cutting hair and painting nails under canopies on the cluttered sidewalks, with all of these illegal vendors operating feet from legitimate brick-and-mortar stores whose owners rage they are being undercut in prices while also having to pay taxes, unlike the illegal vendors.
Shoplifting and pick-pocketing is also widespread, business owners say, and thereâs a sense here that lawlessness is breeding more lawlessness.
On Sept. 19, the day after the raid, Fox News Digital witnessed a man being arrested for allegedly groping a 17-year-old girl as she walked down the subway steps.Â
In police handcuffs, he denied the accusations to onlookers. The girl, who was being comforted by adults, looked visibly shaken.
Ramses FrĂas, a local resident turned activist, is furious with the deterioration of his neighborhood and says "it feels like Bangkok with women outside locations and pulling men off the street."
"This area has been run rampant with prostitution," he told Fox News Digital outside the raided brothel. "It's just been out of control and the lawlessness continues to happen."Â
"This doesnât feel like my home. I've been here my whole life, and this feels like I'm a tourist in a Third World country. This is not how this is supposed to look, this is not how it's supposed to feel," he insisted. "This is a neighborhood and a community full of hardworking individuals, immigrants and second-generation Americans that worked really hard to be here and are facing all this evil and all these bad things. ... And it's just causing more issues daily and our quality of life just continues to drop."
Seconds later, an alleged sex worker and her client emerged from the brothel.
A neighboring business owner then ushered Fox News Digital into his store, warning that "pimps" were watching via CCTV. The store owner did not want to be named but said he had reported the cathouse to police and had been threatened by those involved with the brothel.Â
"Iâm so scared, this is my business," he said, adding that his business is suffering because customers are avoiding the area and will likely have to close because of it.Â
Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angelsïżœïżœand a Republican candidate for mayor, says prostitution has exploded in the neighborhood after the pimps and sex workers were driven out of the nearby area of Flushing, well known for its Asian population.Â
"It was never like this. It was a family area with a lot of retail," Sliwa told Fox News Digital of Roosevelt Avenue. "The Chinese community pushed it out [of Flushing] and Asian cops were getting busted because they were on the take, so they just decided, the madams, bring the girls over here ⊠and its open prostitution, 24/7. [It's] lawless. Anarchy. You get to do what you want when you want."
Two NYPD officers were busted in 2006 on bribery charges relating to the protection of a brothel in Flushing, and there are similar cases stretching back further.Â
Sliwa says the police and New York City Mayor Eric Adams are not doing enough to clamp down on the racket. In January, the NYPD raided six establishments allegedly engaged in prostitution, which were issued closing orders. The raid was well publicized, with Adams and local Democrat City Council member Francisco Moya present. However, it appears to have done little to curb the problem.Â
Sliwa slammed it as a "show raid" and said there were no arrests.Â
"They didn't arrest the johns, prostitutes, madams; they never went after the landlords, and they were back in business the next day," said Sliwa, who joined Fox News Digital and FrĂas on a walking tour of the area.Â
The Queens District Attorney's Office confirmed that no arrests were made, saying it was strictly carried out to serve court closure orders of nuisance abatement over which the NYPD has jurisdiction.Â
"This would never be tolerated in Manhattan. They tolerate it because it's ⊠a poor and impoverished area in the eyes of many New Yorkers, but that doesn't give you a reason to allow this to exist," Sliwa said. "This is so unfair ⊠and the mayor is allowing a culture of corruption to exist. These police officers are on the take. It's the only way they could operate openly. They'll say, âWe deny that.â Well, that's what happened in Flushing and that's why they pushed it over here."
Adams' office did not respond to a request for comment. The NYPD confirmed the three arrests after the Sept. 18 raid but did not respond to a request for further comment.
No police officers have been charged for being involved in prostitution in recent years. In 2018, seven NYPD officers â three sergeants, two detectives and two officers â were indicted in connection with an illegal prostitution and gambling ring in Brooklyn and Queens, which encompassed Roosevelt Avenue.
Separately, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell told Fox News that it suspects members of the brutal Tren de Aragua are linked to prostitution in the area, trafficking women into the industry to pay off the debts the gang is owed for smuggling them into the country.Â
Meanwhile, the Queens District Attorneyâs Office says it is working hard to stamp out prostitution and crime in the area, noting the office has "evicted 13 prostitution locations this year being used for illegal activity on or near Roosevelt Avenue." The office says it's in the process of permanently shutting down the raided brothel.
Of Ocasio-Cortez, FrĂas said the socialist lawmaker has not been seen in the neighborhood since she took part in a rally there in August 2023, where she condemned a city crackdown on illegally operating vendors and called for the city to issue more permits to those vendors.Â
"She does not visit this area; this is actually an area where she campaigned the hardest and a lot of people went out [to vote] for her, and she doesn't come over here. She has totally neglected us,"Â FrĂas said, noting that other local elected officials are rarely seen in the area, which is only represented by Democrats.
"So, we're totally neglected, we're here to fend for ourselves and this is what we have to do now. We're going to organize. We're going to have a rally coming up on Sept. 29, and we're going to let our voices be heard and make sure that the city understands that they need to come over here and do their job," he adds.Â
Ocasio-Cortezâs office did not respond to repeated requests for comment on this story or on a March story in which Fox News Digital brought attention to the neighborhoodâs plight, featuring the additional publication of a now-viral video provided by FrĂas showing an almost endless stream of vendors with piles of clothes stacked along the streets.
Police swept the area days later and FrĂas â a former Democrat who is running for City Council as a Republican next year â said vendors have simply set up shop there again.Â
Rep. Grace Meng, whose district also encompasses Roosevelt Avenue, said in a one-line statement, "Quality of life and safety issues need to always be addressed, and I remain in contact with the 110th precinct, Councilman Moya, our local community board and other local elected officials."
FrĂas also took aim at state Sen. Jessica Ramos, a Democrat who represents the area and is running for mayor. She has previously labeled prostitution on the strip as "survival work" and in 2019 co-sponsored a series of bills that would have decriminalized sex work and vacated the records of people arrested or charged with prostitution or related offenses.
Ramos told Fox News Digital she was happy to see the recent raid take place and pitted blame on the mayor for the unsavory situation, saying Adams' office has been sidetracked by scandals rather than addressing the concerns of the community.Â
"No one wants to see people selling sex, especially when theyâre being coerced by traffickers. Itâs unclear what took so long," Ramos said in a statement.Â
"The underground economy has spiraled out of control," she added, referencing the illegal vendors. "Without work permits from the âfeds,â migrants need honest work to provide for themselves. The fact is the migrants are here, and they want to work."
Meanwhile, Moya, who attended the January raid and has rallied alongside so-called "clean streets" advocates like FrĂas, said that his fellow Democrats are impeding efforts to shut down the brothels and illegal vendors.Â
"Iâve lived my entire life in this district, and Iâve never seen it this bad," Moya said of the prostitution. "After COVID, the situation has worsened significantly. The influx of migrants plays a part in this issue, as many have no other means of survival. The federal government has turned a blind eye to the situation and thereâs only so much the city can do, since we donât have the authority to grant work permits or legal status to those in need."
Moya said other elected officials have been calling up city agencies demanding that all enforcement stop.
"Some elected officials donât see this as a problem, suggesting that âwork is workâ and we should let it be. I believe that if a state representative wants to legalize prostitution, it should be done with strict rules and regulations, in designated areas like the city of Amsterdam â not in our community, especially near schools where children pass by and witness these activities daily," he insisted.Â
"Iâm doing everything in my power to mitigate this issue, as you can see many have been investigated and shutdown â but what I have been doing is being undermined by these leaders who donât recognize the urgent need for change. Yet, I assure you, I will not stop until significant change is made."

It's something trivial really Lancome comparing Greek statues on their models for a campaign, but i am still fascinated that Greek statues still are popular as a form of beauty.
At the same though it stills paints the belief that Ancient Greek beauty it's still pretty dominant. For example I haven't seen companies like Lancome saying they will compare models with Asian art or Scandinavian mythology, showing that still Western society still very actively uses ancient Greece for their standards.
Yeah though I think the reason for that could be that Greek Classical and Hellenistic art was the one more focused on realism. Ancient artefacts of Northern European and Asian and African cultures were often more abstract, so you canât compare them successfully to actual people as much.
But apart from that, I just donât like anything about this campaign, I am sorry for the negativity that follows. LancĂŽme appears so tone deaf. It chooses to collaborate with the Louvre at a time when the British museum has ridiculed itself internationally and more and more people ask for the repatriation of stolen antiquities.
And in the first two I was like âfine, they at least tried to keep the pretensesâ because they chose Venus of Arles and Diane of Gabii, so statues that were discovered in France and Italy respectively.
However it is known that Venus of Arles is a Greek statue made and commissioned by Greeks and made of Hymettus marble. But it was unearthed there so I guess itâs fine.
Diane of Gabii is speculated to be the work of Praxiteles or one of his sons. And it was taken by the Prince Borghese who added it to his personal collection in Gabii, close to Rome. However, they can pull the card âweâre not sure about the attributionâ on you so letâs say itâs fine.
The third one is fucking Venus de Milo which was unearthed in Milos, Greece in 1820 and was forcefully (with pressure and the threat of violence) sold to the French for a comparatively pretty low price (which btw has never been tracked by purchases, contracts or wills) given to the Greek farmer who dug it out and it was all during Ottoman times, so itâs not fine at all.
And then Zendaya flows her dress in front of Nike of Samothrace, another masterpiece that must return to its island of origin, to complete the sanctuary of the Great Gods, where it was found, and you have no idea how much I donât care for Zendaya flowing a dress.
And besides how problematic and unoriginal it is as a campaign, for some reason none of the women (Zendaya, Amanda Seyfried and He Chong and anyone else in the video) look anything like the statues they are supposed to embody and be compared to so it is a fail on every aspect.
