Honestly, as someone asexual and probably some flavor of aro goy myself, im so sorry to all the asexual and aromantic jewish folks who has to deal with the biggest ace and aro blogs not shutting up about palestine and everything, especially fuckyeahasexual, who has taken ZERO steps in caring for jewish aces and has been INCREDIBLY antisemetic going as far as to yell at people who so much as donate to ao3 instead of gaza, accuse israel of being the main perpetrator of october seventh, spreading intense amounts of blood libel, and more.
It is utterly heartbreaking to see a blog that was once a safe spot for rallying around a shared identity turn so bitter and cruel and actively damaging. You all deserved a safer place to celebrate your asexual and aromantic orientations, and to not be shamed for simply existing, you arent a traitor, or a monster, or anything like that.
Jewish aces and aros are as valid in your identities as any other ace or aro, and im so sorry that so few aces and aros seemed to have learned from the coordinated attacks on our identity/right to exist, and proceed to do the same bullshit to you. I'm sorry for the utter failure of the queer community for jewish queers just in general. It's disgusting, its horrific, and you deserve so much more then just this one ace's apologies

Queer Jews Project
Hi fellow LGBTQIA+ yids. I know we’re hurting and scared and dreading pride month.
So I’m going to queue up a queer Jew for every day this month. Posts will go up at 12 p.m. EST.
Disclaimer: There are so many queer jews. These are just the ones I feel like listing. This is just a fun project, not a serious academic discussion of these people and their legacies. And definitely not the place for I/P discourse. The tags are for exposure but I'll limit them to the identities of the jews in the posts themselves.
EDIT: The tag is queer jews project.

I don’t feel like I have any super substantive updates on my patch vest (I’ve been in a pretty bad flareup for a bit), but there are some new additions so I thought I’d share anyway.
Tumblr media
Image description: the front of a dark grey denim vest with the arm holes hand-hemmed in red thread. On the left lapel is a large heart-shaped it/its pin surrounded by a cloudy rainbow border. On the chest beside it is an enamel Magen David pin in the colors of the trans flag, beside which is a crocheted watermelon attached with a safety pin. On the left breast pocket is a cross-stitched asexual flag secured with dark purple thread and an acrylic pin of an opossum holding a non-binary heart. On the right breast pocket there is a machine-embroidered sunflower patch, and beneath that is another machine-embroidered patch reading “disabled is not a bad word”, secured by lavender thread. Above the pocket is a genderqueer flag pin, next to that is a cross-stitched patch reading “I mask so I don’t bite you” in all caps with a red border and “bite” in red. Above that is a small holographic pin with a sparkly rainbow heart on it. /end description
Tumblr media
Image description: the back of the same vest, with two stenciled black patches, one on each shoulder, each secured by x-shaped stitches in lavender thread. The one on the left reads “queer joy”, the one on the right reads “T4T”. /end description
I love my vest and I love talking about it, so if anyone has questions about any part of it please don’t be shy to ask!

I'm clearly pathetic
If I'm not clearly pathetic I'm obviously stuck inside a warped pair of places according to reactions I have to statements are identical at their essence. I have it extremely easy feeling annoyed if somebody wishes me happy holidays due to my awareness it's supposed to serve as a euphemistic means to say Merry Christmas; God knows I'd rather receive greetings straight, thank you. Doing something you'd think was a complete 180, I can feel exactly like that when someone tells me to have a happy Chanukah as my neighbour decided to do not too long ago. She didn't seem remotely able to believe anything I was saying to her; if anything she struck me as trying to be emphatic she had full right to give me appropriate holiday greetings as she saw fit. As if I asked to fail to honour any expectations she might have of Jews or something. No, I didn't submit any special request to feel unable to worship due to synagogue culture being politicized after the war started, thank you. It's hard, feeling ambivalent about setting candles aglow since worship has been inaccessible for fourteen months. It's not as if I don't feel grateful to be Jewish; if my theology wasn't Jewish I wouldn't have any self-acceptance as one of God's (asexual/)gay genderqueer children, thank you. I simply wonder if I have any right to render that pride of mine visible...clearly remember feeling chocked up and much quieter than previous years as I was trying to render necessary blessings audible...sure won't be shocked if it's no different in a number of hours due to the warped interaction I just had with my neighbour.

I had a few friends over to make matzo brei (which I’ve never had before!) and watch Prince of Egypt, and I think it was the best possible Pesach activity besides the Seder itself!

I maybe a day late, but happy pride month to all the queer people on this platform. But a friendly reminder to everyone that you have to respect queer people from ALL backgrounds, and this includes queer cops, queer Israelis, queer people who are labeled by others as “corporate shills”, queer business people, queer politicians, and queer people who don’t support/are against political ideologies like anarchy and communism. Just because you don’t like their character, doesn’t mean that you should exclude them from the community, it just makes you no better than your oppressors. Thx :D! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️⚧️👮🇮🇱🗂️🗳️
Sincerely,
-J

A popular sex ed blog has decided trans men & mascs aren't allowed to use our own words to describe our own oppression, and seems to be deleting replies and asks that say otherwise, so I've decided to take my ramble over to main.
Regarding TMA/TME language, they've brought up a couple of times how "exempt" means "set apart" rather than "never experiences transmisogyny ever," and how words can have multiple definitions (this post). So it's best to hear people out before jumping to bad-faith interpretations of their words.
However, they also say, "misandry is a term for the 'oppression of men based on gender'" (this post) as a reason why "transmisandry" can never be used.
That is one definition of misandry, yes, but as they pointed out, words can have multiple definitions! Regarding the oppression against trans men & mascs, misandry is generally used to mean the literal "hatred of men," and people in these discussions don't believe that misandry is an axis of systemic oppression (which has been stated over and over).
Yes, it has negative connotations, which is why people more often use transandrophobia or anti-transmasculinity instead. (This poll shows more specifically which terms are most preferred.) But that doesn't mean people who use the term transmisandry are MRAs or believe in the MRA concept of misandry.
Transmisandry is not claiming a combination of systemic transphobia and "systemic misandry," but hatred against trans men & mascs for being trans men/masc. Again, many people prefer other terms that leave less room for that misinterpretation, but people who do use the term transmisandry aren't responsible for others repeatedly ignoring their actual explanations of the term.
In general, arguing over the words rather than the concepts is a very common way to silence people who are trying to talk about their oppression. Jews talking about antisemitism get dismissed because "You're not Semitic, you're from Poland." Aromantic and asexual people get dismissed because "Aphobia literally means 'fear of nothing,' that's a stupid term." And trans men & mascs get told "You can't use that word to talk about your oppression, it's problematic." (Time and time again, and every time we pick a new word, that one gets called problematic too; it's almost like the problem was never really the word?) The words get picked apart but people don't listen to what we're actually saying, the ways we're suffering.
In their own words, from this post: "Do you have to like the language? No. Do you have to respect the way and language oppressed people have chosen to speak about their oppression? Yes. Yes, you do."
Trans men & mascs shouldn't be an exception to your respect.

When I have to hide that I’m gay or trans to be safe, that’s not a privilege. It’s a pretty foundational understanding of oppression against queer people that being closeted is a form of violence that cisheteronormative society does to us, not a “privilege” we enjoy.
When I have to hide my autism and perform allistic socialization, that’s not a privilege. It’s a pretty foundational understanding of oppression against autistic people that being forced to mask for our safety is a form of violence that allistic society does to us, not a “privilege” we enjoy.
The fact that my asexuality is invisible to people—the fact that I am constantly assumed to be the allosexual default—is not privilege. It’s a pretty foundational understanding of oppression against asexuals that this erasure is a form of violence that allosexual society does to us, not a “privilege” we enjoy.
But suddenly when I have to hide my Jewishness for my safety the same way I have to do with my queerness and my autism, the very concept of having to hide my identity being violence against me not only falls out the back of queer and autistic goyim’s heads, it gets completely inverted. Somehow my Jewishness transmogrifies the experience of being closeted & forced to mask from a form of violence society does to me to a form of violence I’m doing to the rest of society. Never mind that I refuse to do it, simply the hypothetical possibility that I supposedly could if I wanted to makes me inherently complicit in oppression.
I call bullshit.
gonna expand on my other post bc it seems some gentiles are having difficulty understanding this conversation.
i see the sentiment "well jews can hide the fact they're jewish, but black people can't hide the fact they're black!!!!!!" all the time in progressive spaces in response to jews talking about antisemitism (most often from non black people....) and it's bullshit for several reasons, even outside of the idea that people should be able to wear culturally significant items and not face discrimination.
black jews exist. we are not two completely separate groups.
while there is no one way to look jewish, there are a lot of physical features that are very common among jews with jewish heritage (things like curly hair, darker skin, larger downturned noses, darker body hair) that have been specifically targeted by antisemites for centuries. a lot of jews have been bullied or harassed specifically because of these features and the fact society considers them outside of the white norm.
you're setting a horrible precedent for mixed and light skinned folks. at what point is it their "responsibility" to pass as white if they technically could? should they straighten their hair? change their name? use skin lighteners? use double eyelid tape every day? get a nose job? never go out in the sun? never post pictures of their darker skinned family? at what point are their natural features considered changeable enough that the onus is put on them to hide them?
for people who have features they can't hide or change, are you only giving them a pass because they physically can't do anything about their bodies? are you seeing their bodies as an unfortunate problem you can't solve? a stain on the carpet you've accepted you'll never be able to get out so you just put a coffee table over it and hope no one notices?
yes, there are times to talk about situations where some folks can access conditional safety and some folks can't. but the overarching conversation about rejecting assimilation into whiteness cannot and should not be centered around "choices." because "hide who you are or risk violence" is not a choice, it's a threat.

figures, right?
My mother just saw a news blurb somewhere making it known no one in a certain Jeopardy game even tried to offer a response to the following question:
Our father who art in heaven, ___ be thy name.
Left me to laugh a little, especially at the irony that, despite my Judaism, I could parrot back the entire Lord’s Prayer if I was asked to do it. I don’t believe any of its sentiments for a second unless they are applicable to God since, excuse me, Jews don’t regard Jesus as the Messiah; doesn’t mean I wasn’t raised to (attempt to?) be a good Christian appearing at church every Sunday. As if someone Jewish is supposed to have it easy giving responses to Christian queries like that. Of course, I’ve never fit in, honouring any stereotypes people want to affix to any and every difference of mine...don’t expect me to resemble a musical idol of mine despite God opting to make me an asexual dyke; doesn’t serve to expect me to be evangelistic about my vegan diet since I have it hard coming out to that effect...I’m way better known to tailor to queries asked, making people engage in a kind of math to deduce my diet’s nature; sure don’t adhere to ideas people have about liberal Jews only appearing at synagogue three times in a week and a half then never again until the High Holidays return or that Judaism’s always? only? ashkenazic...didn’t even have any recognition of my Jewish faith until adulthood, something I think helps explain the kind of freedom I have to live my faith as I feel is right.
Hardly sure if they had it hard according to how archaic hallowed has potential to seem or if, like me, they don’t believe in Christianity any (much as that obviously doesn’t explain my ability to say the whole prayer no problem). Doesn’t mean I’m not happy I had a decent source of laughter to start today.
