"you’ve been hiding in plain sight" "and appeared, all i know"
pairings: asami sato x airbender fem!reader
warnings/tags: none. purely fluff. reader is tenzin’s daughter. a short fic for the queen of yearning. <33
summary: in the aftermath of the fight with kuvira, asami confesses her feelings for you.
the wedding reception of varrick and zhu li was in full swing, with guests laughing and dancing under the twinkling lights. but away from the crowd, asami found herself alone, lost in thought. the recent battle with kuvira and the death of her father weighed heavily on her mind.
it was in this quiet moment that you approached her. "asami, can i talk to you for a minute?"
she looked up, a tired smile on her face. "of course, y/n. what's up?"
"i just wanted to check in on you," you said softly. "i know it's been a tough time, especially with your father..."
asami's smile wavered, and she looked away, taking a deep breath. "i'm okay, y/n. really. but thank you for checking in on me. you've always been there for me, and i don't understand how i didn't see it until now." her tone was frustrated and desperate, the words spilling out before she could stop them.
you frowned, confused. "see what? asami, are you sure you're okay?"
with a sigh, asami waved you off. "come on, do you want to get out of here for a bit?"
you blinked in surprise. "but... wouldn't that be disrespectful? we're at a wedding. plus, my dad would kill me if he found out."
asami chuckled, a genuine sound that seemed to lighten her mood. "where's your sense of adventure?"
before you could protest further, asami led you to her satomobile. the drive was filled with a comfortable silence, she refusing to divulge your destination despite your curious questions.
as she drove you, she found herself admiring you, the way the wind blew through your hair, accentuating the beautiful blue arrow that adorned your face. it was a moment of serene clarity amidst the chaos of her thoughts.
the two of you arrived at avatar korra park, the moon casting a tranquil glow over the landscape. as you both walked through the park, asami finally broke the silence. "y/n, i have something i need to tell you."
your curiosity was piqued. "you can tell me anything, asami."
taking a deep breath, she turned to face you, her eyes filled with nervousness and sincerity. "i've never known someone like you. you were there for me when my dad got arrested and when future industries went downhill. you were always this person that was just... there. and now, you've become my favorite person. i can’t get you out of my head. you're stuck to me like... like glue."
your heart skipped a beat, "asami, i've loved you since i watched you take down those equalists when we figured out that your father was working with amon."
asami's eyes widened in surprise, and then she laughed, a sound filled with relief. without another word, she leaned in and kissed you, the moonlight (and yue) your only witness.

Jealous or Attracted? | KorrAsami x Reader Headcanons
╰┈➤ PLOT: Headcanons of you figuring out your feelings for KorrAsami.
╰┈➤ WARNINGS: No Use of Y/n, Cursing, Not Proofread, Second POV, Lowercase Intended
Part Two | Part Three
⍣ ೋ Enjoy!⍣ ೋ
– when you first met KorrAsami, they were dating each other.
– you already knew of Korra with her being the Avatar and everything and for Asami, you knew of her but only because of the drama that went down with her dad and Future Industries.
– you can't exactly remember how you met them, but you vaguely remember a party and Bolin, your closest friend, dragging you to it and insisting that you meet the rest of the Krew.
– Also, the fact that they call each other the "Krew" was so cute to you, you wanted in.
– and so there you saw Korra and Asami dressed in their best party wear, holding glasses of colored clear liquid and giggling with each other.
– At first, your stomach fizzed with butterflies but you assumed that was your jitters
– you didn't think the butterflies was because the two of them looked good enough to make your knees shake or your face burn. no, not at all!
– why would it anyways? You couldn't be attracted to a couple. that's weird. Like licking a flagpole and drinking a smoothie made of grass and boiled egg yolks. That's weird.
– and you weren't weird. (or at least not that weird).
– anyways, as the party went on, you got to know the two more.
– you got to know that Korra's a bit goofy and playful, that she isn't always the stubborn and hotheaded Avatar everyone knows her to be and you also figured out that Asami made her very shy, very easily.
– with how she acted towards the general public and threats, you thought Korra would be the one to make her significant other shy with flirts and cocky sentences, but it turns out that Asami was the one to. and she wasn't even flirting.
– Asami would give one smile and quip to Korra and the Avatar would melt like ice cream on a hot summer's day. It was cute, honestly but also made you ick on the inside.
– you didn't know why. you had nothing against the two and PDA, but seeing them flirt with each other gave you a certain pang in your chest.
– after the party's events, you found yourself getting closer and closer to the "Krew".
– you weren't close enough to consider yourself a part of Team Avatar but enough to be considered Team Avatar's friend.
– when you hung out with the Krew, you would linger around KorrAsami. Wherever they went, you went.
– Bolin teased you about this, naturally, being your best friend and all, but you denied the allegations he tried to make. --
"You have a crush on them!" "Please, I do not. I'm hanging out with them because i want to get to know them more. That's all."
"But you even laugh at their jokes. You never laugh at Mako's and I's."
"That's because you and Mako aren't funny."
"And Korra and Asami are?"
"Precisely." --
– And it was true. You didn't have a crush on them and they were funny.
– Korra and Asami have this type of humor that's unique to them. They feed off of each other and often make snarky remarks about inside jokes or shared experiences. Being a part of that was an accomplishment in its own.
– something would happen when you guys were out and about and you would share the same look.
– the only times the jokes got "bad" was when someone made the other laugh a bit louder than usual.
– like one time Korra made Asami laugh so loud and hard that she cried with a red face.
– the feeling that stirred in your stomach wasn't pretty. it was like whatever you had for lunch curdled and violently punched you in the gut over and over and over again.
– you would seethe every once and a while. Why was Korra making her girlfriend laugh upsetting you? It shouldn't matter what she does. She's her girlfriend and has the right to make her laugh. It would probably be more concerning if Asami laughed harder at your jokes.
– Right?
– It would be great to make Asami laugh like that though. Her sparkling green eyes come to a close as her eyes squint. Her hand would politely cover her lips with a hooked finger, further pushing the elegant and proper look she's made of herself. And even though her blush does this for her already, her cheeks would be redder from how hard you made her laugh.
– Isn't that normal for a homie to want? It was normal to want to share that experience with Korra; making Asami laugh. These were all normal things. Right?
– It had to be. It's what you thought about at night. Making Asami laugh, making Korra shy, holding their hands and nuzzling your nose against their cheeks. That's all very normal things to think about when it comes to your friends.
– you never thought that way about Mako or Bolin of course. They were like siblings to you so, they were sibling pretty. Not the weak-in-the-knees-heart-racing-platonic-pretty Korra and Asami were.
– Well, Bolin didn't think so. Deny all you want, say what you want, but he saw the way you looked at them.
– He saw how your eyes light up when they come over to talk to you or how cutely small and shy you'd get when they hug you at the same time. He saw how you would point them out in everything you see, even if you're not with them.
– Bolin knows you and apparently, he knows you better than you know yourself.
– He knew you so well that he could tell when you were jealous and he could tell when you were attracted.
– when you were jealous: when their PDA gets too much, when they walk away together, when they make inside jokes, when they call each other "babe", and when they prefer each other over anyone else in the Krew.
– when you were attracted: when their attention is on you, when they talk to you one-on-one (mano-y-mano as Bolin referred), when they would hug you or take you out as a trio, when they compliment you, when they spring into action or act serious, and so much more that Bolin could write a whole book about your attraction towards the pair.
– Honestly, Bolin understood the attraction. He had a crush on Korra once. Mako too! In fact, everyone in the Krew had a crush on her so the fact that you had a crush on her (and her girlfriend) just met you're officially a part of their friend group now. Yay!
– now, Bolin never told you that he's aware of the crush you had on the pair but he would hint at it with suspicious winks, wiggles of his brows, and jokes that confused everyone else but you.
– "Yeah, red and blue sure are attractive colors, huh?" then he'd nudge you and you would freeze with a nervous smile.
– Mako, Asami, and Korra would have no clue what Bolin meant. Especially since they were talking about imprisoning war criminals when Bolin blurted. But hey, randomness is what Bolin is known for.
– A couple of weeks after that incident, you finally came to terms with yourself. You had to, the jealousy was getting too much that the girls were picking up on it.
--
"Whoa, you good?" Korra chuckled, noticing your glare after she kissed Asami's cheek. "You're uh, looking angrier than Mako on a good day." On a good day, you would tease her back but the feelings were too much.
The thoughts of holding them, kissing them (and not just on the cheek), and spending time with them was overwhelming and taking over every fiber of your being.
You couldn't watch them interact with each other without a firey burning in your chest and the clench of your fists. Also, you're pretty sure you've shaved a couple of centimeters off your teeth from all the teeth grinding you've been doing.
The girls have been giving you curious looks when you would glare in their direction. They'd awkwardly look at each other and then get away from your gaze to avoid confrontation.
Korra and Asami never assumed you were the type to judge their love, they didn't get that vibe from you, so it was a nerving surprise you got angry whenever they showcased public displays of affection.
"Yeah." You eased your shoulders from your ears. "I'm fine. Sorry. Just stressed."
"You must be chronically stressed then," Asami spoke as she slung an arm around Korra's shoulders. Your lips tensed at the sight. "Because you're always making faces or scowling nowadays."
"Yeah, you're doing it now actually," pointed Korra. You eased your lips again. Damn, it's like second nature to tense up or scowl whenever you see them interact. That wasn't healthy. At all.
These are your friends. By the expressions on their faces, you can see they're getting uncomfortable holding each other around you. Asami slowly moved her arm away from Korra with a frown and they tried not to show it, but they held each other's hands behind their backs.
Your friends had to hide their true selves from you because you're too afraid to admit your feelings.
Is this what you want? For them to be afraid and think you're someone or something you're not? Of course not. It was time to face the music. You have a crush on Korra and Asami.
Now, what are you going to do about it?
To be continued. | WC: 1,570

Ways the Krew Show Affection for You
Pairing: Korra, Asami Sato, Bolin, Mako x Reader
Tags: fluff, established relationship, showing affection, cooking, flirting, kisses, being flustered
Ko-Fi | Rules | Fandoms and Characters
A/N: Not kidding when I say I would smoother each one of them with so much affection because they damn well need it.
Korra learns to cook your favorite meal. She picked up a ton of skills over her time in the Earth Kingdom and yes it might be her bragging a little but she knows how important it is to eat well. She keeps it a secret from you so she can see the surprised look on your face when you walk through the door. Takes in your big smile before she kisses it off and pulls you along into the dining room to eat.
Asami takes the long route to work. Since she is the one who worked on building some of the new roads in Republic City she knows how to get to places quickly, or slowly if she wants to hide away somewhere and spend a little time kissing you. Does carry around make-up so she can fix her lipstick, she knows it will be ruined. However she would take the knowing glances if she can be with you more.
Bolin gets caught staring and daydreaming about you. He's always thought you were cool and pretty and awesome and he doesn't blame himself for staring at you when you're right there in front of him. He does get flustered about it easily but still keeps doing it despite it all. The teasing is never too much in his opinion, he can always turn it around and share what he was thinking about.
Mako writes down date ideas instead of investigation notes. When he was supposed to be working too, and tries his best to hide it from his co-workers but as soon as you learn he's been doing it you ask to read the ideas. He gives you the book and doesn't say a single word while you're reading them through. A lot of good ideas in there, but for now you only have to pick one for your next date.

Invention Fail
Korra: *throws a ball for Naga with a burst of airbending. Naga chases after it eagerly* Korra: I wonder where Asami is? *A crash comes from the side of the mansion, and a wall blows outward in a blast of electricity*
Korra: *ducks* WOAH. *Runs toward it* ASAMI! *Asami staggers out with her hair frizzed, and her hands on her hips.* Asami: Dammit, I thought I had it this time. Korra: *crashes into her* What happened? Are you okay? Hold on, let me get some water... Asami: *turns and kisses Korra on the cheek* I'm fine, Korra. I... simply miscalculated, that's all. *sighs* Will have to rerun the equations and account for... that unfortunate side effect. Korra: Wait, wait. Math causes explosions? *eyes widen* woah, maybe I should learn math after all.

IN THE PAST AND IN EVERY LIFETIME
KENJI SATO X READER
|Fluff |Past Life
“And if death do us part, I promise to find you in every lifetime” - Alex Warren
⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺
Your fiance kisses your forehead while he pulls you closer to him. You rested your head on his chest while admiring the small diamond ring that glimmered in the moonlight.
“It’s beautiful”.
“I’m glad you like it. When I saw it at the shop, it made me think of you”.
“It’s perfect”.
He lifts up your chin and plants a warm, soft kiss on your lips as the bells of a near by clock tower signals the start of a new year and a new decade.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, and if death do us part, I will always look for you in every lifetime”.
“Happy New Years Y/N”…
“Y/N”! Your friend Asami yells at you, snapping you out of your day dream.
“We’re here”. She points to the bookstore.
“Oh sorry”. You apologized as she drags you into the place.
~
As soon as the two of you entered the bookstore, the smell of coffee and new books hit your nostrils. There was an end-of-the-year sale at Asami’s favorite bookstore and she insisted you come along. You took this as an opportunity to find books for your research paper for the psychology PhD program. While the two of you were looking at books, Asami caught you zoning out again.
“Y/N”! She snaps her fingers getting you out of your trance. “I’m here”! You said loudly, getting attention from other bystanders.
“Seriously, what is up with you? Did you pull an all nighter again? Like I get it’s your thesis paper, but you do realize sleep is important right”? Asami says while skimming through a random book.
“No, it’s not about the paper. I keep having this dream for like the past month and it’s been bothering me”. You say while skimming through the bookshelves.
“Oooh do tell”. Asami looks at you with curiosity.
“In the dream, I was with a guy and we were at this park filled with snow, and he proposed to me under a tree”.
“Man, I wish I had a dream about a guy”. Asami shakes her head and laughs.
“Asami, I’m being serious. It’s like, the dream is telling me to remember this guy, but I really don’t”.
“No offense but I think you’re reading way too many psychology books. I think it’s time to switch genres”.
"That's not how psychology works". You deadpan.
“Anyways, I gotta use the bathroom. BRB”. Asami puts down the book she was looking at and takes off, leaving you alone to wonder off.
You were walking around trying to find a book you’ve been wanting to use for your paper. After a few minutes of searching, you spot a large textbook sitting on the top shelf.
"Only one copy left".
You notice a step ladder near the bookshelf and begin to climb it. As soon as you reached the last step of the ladder, you stood on your tippy toes and you reached for the book. After a few attempts, you managed to get your book. But before you could climb back down, the screws of the ladder unscrewed itself, causing the step to break. You fall off and braced for impact, only for a guy to catch you.
“Woah, has anyone ever told you not to climb on faulty ladders? ”. The man puts you down before you could get a better look at him.
“Sorry”. You looked down in embarrassment. The man picks the book you dropped from the floor.
“Here, you should be more careful next time”. His speech slowed down as he made eye contact with you. His arm was frozen in place, the book still in his hand. You look at the man and his features. For some reason, he looks so familiar. It feels like you’ve met him before, but you don’t know where.
“Ummm… thank you”. You grabbed the book from him and began to walk away.
“Y/N”? You turn back to him.
“Yeah”?
“I thought I’d never see you again”. He muttered out loud.
“I’m sorry, do I know you”? You ask, feeling really creeped out.
“Oh”. He clears his throat. “I’m sorry, it’s just, you look like someone I knew from a long time ago”.
“Y/N”! Asami calls out to you. “There you are! I was looking for you! You have got to stop wandering around girl”! Asami notices the guy and looks up and down in disgust. “Shall we head to the register”? She says, slowly dragging you away from the man.
“WAIT”! You and Asami turn back at the man in annoyance.
“I know we just met, but, I want to take you out on a date”. He grabbed a pen from his pocket, took your book and wrote down his number and his name on the first page.
“Text me and we’ll set something up”. He walked away, leaving you stunned.
“Girl, who was that”? Asami asks.
You look down at the page. “I don’t know, but I think i’m about to find out”.
~
You were waiting for the mystery guy to arrive. Of all the days to meet up, he picked New Year’s eve. Despite being really busy, he managed to get a reservation at what is coincidentally your favorite cafe.
From the information you gathered from Asami’s stalker account, the man that saved you from falling on your ass at the book store, was none other than Ken Sato. Turns out he’s a baseball player for the giants, and according to Asami, he is LOADED.
You feel a buzz from your phone. Thinking it was a message from Ken, you opened your phone, only to get a text message from Asami.
“I really hope your date goes well! But if he tries to attempt some serial killer shit, it’s on sight”.
“Asami, you’ve been reading too many horror novels. You should consider switching genres. Don’t worry. I’ll be fine”.
As you send the text message, Kenji runs into the cafe. You wave at him, catching his attention.
“I'm sorry for being late”. Ken sits down. “There was traffic downtown. Another kaiju incident”. He huffs.
“It’s, fine. I’m glad you made it”. You smiled at him.
The waiter took your orders and placed some tea in a white porcelain teapot down, along with two white teacups. He leaves with the menus, leaving you and Ken to bond.
“I’ve always wanted to try this place. This cafe looks cozy”. Ken looks around at the aesthetically pleasing decor.
“The food here is to die for! This is literally my favorite cafe since forever”. You said. Ken nodded.
“From what I’ve read, this place has been open since the 70’s”. He begins to pour some tea into your cup.
“I love how everything is so simple”. You take a sip from your tea. As soon as the hot liquid touches your mouth, it stings your tongue.
“Ahh, hot”! You yelp. Ken chuckles as you pout.
“Something’s never changed”. He chuckles as he shakes his head.
You look at him in bewilderment.
“Sorry," He cleared his throat. "I'm probably creeping you out”. He twiddled his thumbs, looking super stressed out.
“I’m sorry Ken”…
“Kenji. Call me Kenji”. He interrupts.
“Okay, Kenji, have we met before? Because when we met at that bookstore, you said you thought you would never see me again”.
“You really don’t remember me”? Kenji says, his gray eyes looking at you with disappointment.
“Well, the thing is, I think you’re the guy that keeps appearing in my dreams . I thought you were someone I made up, but it turns out you’re real, and you’re sitting right in front of me”.
“Am I supposed to”? You ask
Kenji looks down at his tea, the clumps of sugar that he put in a minute ago beginning to dissolve.
“Umm, nevermind. So, tell me about yourself”.
The conversation lasted for hours. Everything felt so casual between the two of you. Kenji told you how he led the Giants to the championships; despite almost dragging them six feet underground. He had to use simpler terms when describing some of the plays since you weren’t much of a sports fan. On the other hand, you were telling him how you were trying to pursue your PhD in psychology, and how it’s always been your dream to get your doctorate degree. Kenji admired the bright look on your face while you talked about your passion.
While you were having a great time with Kenji, you have a gut feeling that he has something to do with your dreams. He knows something you don’t, and you want to know what he’s hiding.
Eventually, the waiter had to kick you out of the cafe because they were closing early for the holiday. As you two stepped out in the cold, the sun was almost gone, and the sky became darker.
“I don’t really feel like going home yet. Wanna head down to the park with me”? Kenji asks.
“Umm, sure"!
As you walk to the park, Kenji grabs your hand. You look up at him and smile. There was something familiar about this warm feeling, like deja vu. When you reach the park, you can see the patch of snow that stretches down for miles. While walking down the semi-icy path, you keep thinking about Kenji's motives. He's not telling you anything, and couldn't take any more secrets.
“Kenji, can you be honest with me”? You blurt out.
He looks down at you.
“How come you remember me, but I don’t remember you? What are you not telling me”?
Kenji sighs and looks at the ground. You stood there, your arms crossed, waiting for him to answer you.
“This might sound weird. Like out of a novel weird”.
“Try me”.
“Okay, but first, come with me”. Kenji grabs your hand and drags you along.
“Where are we going”? You ask.
“You’ll see”.
You both go deeper into the park, where all the trees divide the park and the streets and where there is no one in sight. The more you both go down the path, the more your anxiety starts to peak.
“Oh my God, what if Asami was right? What if he is an actual serial killer and he planned your demise since your first encounter”?
But a familiar setting caught your eye before you could think of any worst-case scenarios. You were standing in front of a tree covered in snow. The same tree that was in your dream sequence.
“Look familiar”? Kenji asks.
“Actually yeah”. You turn to him. “What are we doing here”? You ask him.
“This was the place where I proposed to you”.
“Proposed to me”?
Your brain clicked as you piece everything together. The repeated dream you had was a memory from the past.
“You’re the guy… you’re the guy from my dreams”. Your eyes widen
“So you do remember”!
“Not exactly”. You shrug.
Kenji takes both of your hands. You look up at him. His soft gaze locked onto you.
“Y/N, you and I were together in our past life”.
You stared at him like a deer in headlines. You’ve read about past lives in an article before, but you didn't think it was real.
“December 31st, 1979”. He starts. “I took you to that cafe, y'know the one we went to today, and then we walked down to this very same park and I proposed to you here”.
You still look at Kenji in shock. You tried to say something, but you couldn't form any sentences.
“I understand it’s a lot to process”. Said Kenji.
“No, no I sort of understand now. Although, I don’t remember anything after that”.
Kenji looks down at the ground. “Six months after the New Year, we were in a car crash. I only suffered a broken leg. But your injuries were too severe. You didn’t survive in surgery”.
“Oh”.
“That day, I promised myself that I would find you again, and when I did, I would never let you go”.
Kenji takes out a small black box. He opens it to reveal a small diamond ring, the same one he proposed with all those years ago.
“Kenji”…
“I know we just met again, and I don’t expect you to remember anything, but you are my soulmate, Y/N. I never want to lose you again". Kenji puts the ring on your finger. The small diamond ring glimmering in the moonlight.
Everything comes flooding back to you. The guy was Kenji. He's real. Everything that happened in your dream is real. Kenji pulls you closer to him. Your lips were inches away from his. He closes the gap between the two of you. Your heart swells as he hugs you tighter. The two of you separate, trying to catch your breath. You admired the ring, reminiscing how beautiful it was, how it felt so right on your ring finger.
“It’s perfect”. You smile.
“I know, but it’s not as perfect as you”. He smiles
You blush. “I can’t believe you waited for me”.
“I did promise you all those years ago, that if death do us part, I will always look for you in every lifetime”.
The bells of a nearby clock tower signaling the start of a new year.
“Happy New Year Y/N”.
“Happy New Year Kenji”.

Alex and Kovur’s wedding is everything!!! I want something like that someday!! Also, the bookstore scene was inspired by a Tinder ad with Lana Condor lol.
IMPORTANT A/N: I will be going international for a few weeks so everything might be on hold for a bit. But I have a few things cooking. Also, stay tuned next Friday/Saturday for a little surprise.

for better or worse
pham hanni x fem!reader | one shot
Synopsis: You’re absolutely wasted at a party. You somehow end up spending the night lamenting to this stranger about how much you miss your ex. You find out the next morning that the stranger is said ex.
Contains: drinking, death-related jokes, cursing
Playlist
Like all bad decisions you’ve made in your life, it always starts with Danielle.
“Please,” Danielle begs, standing in the doorway to your room like a toddler who’s waiting to tell their mom that they just vomited. “Just for tonight.”
You glare at her as you pause your TikTok. “I’m not being your designated driver. Catch an Uber.”
Danielle skips toward your bed and flops on it, resting her chin on the palm of her hand and kicking her feet like a kid. She’s putting on this disgusting baby voice. “Please, I’m begging you… I don’t get paid until next week.”
You ignore her and press play on your TikTok. It’s an edit of Asami Sato, and damn, she is so fine. You’re blushing and giggling to yourself until Danielle rudely interrupts you by pulling your blanket to the floor, ridding you of its comfortable warmth.
“What the fuck!”
She pouts. “Please? I won’t ask again.”
“You said that last time,” you give her a blank stare. “And the last last time.”
“Last time was five months ago! And I always make it up to you.”
Danielle rolls over on her back, and her head is heavy on your legs. She begins to poke you.
“Please,” she whines, dragging the word out. You close your eyes as her voice rings in your ears like a mosquito, taking deep breaths to prevent yourself from murdering her.
Danielle is a lovely roommate. She pays her half of the rent on time, she keeps her space tidy, and she always brings you leftovers from the bakery that she works at. Only issue is, she’s a massive social butterfly. Meaning that wherever she goes, there’s always a party — either in your own apartment, or someone else’s.
She keeps trying to explain to you why she’s like this – saying that she’s an “E” for her “MBTD” or “TMDI” or whatever, but you couldn’t care less. All you know is that you want to peacefully rot in your bed.
But, damn, she can be awfully persuasive. Persuasive meaning incessantly pestering you until you give in.
You sigh in defeat. “Get out before I change my mind.”
Danielle sits up at the speed of light and grins.
“I love you so much,” she presses a sloppy kiss on your hand. You wipe your hand on your blanket in disgust. She then skips out of your room humming some song.
As you force yourself out of bed to get ready, you mentally prepare yourself for the night ahead.
Every time Danielle drags you to one of her parties, you hate her a little more. Which is impossible, because no one hates Danielle. But here you are, cursing her as you stand alone, leaning against the wall, arms folded, and cynical eyes scanning the crowd.
Danielle had practically abandoned you the second the two of you stepped foot in the house, preferring the company of her other friends. You don’t mind of course — this is always the standard drill.
There are the people who are not exactly drunk, just a little buzzed, who are mingling with each other, conversations full of giggles and exaggerated voices. Then, there are the people who are drunk, either dancing sloppily on the floor or passed out. You hear a group of people in the backyard cheering someone on to chug. Lastly, there’s the small group of people who are completely sober, stuck in the same boat as you are.
Okay, so maybe you do mind that Danielle abandoned you. Because you’re stuck here looking like a bitter loner, and in this very moment, you are one. You feel awkward, self-conscious, tired, and extremely bored.
You’re checking your phone for any new notifications (there are none) when you look up and make eye contact with a familiar face for a split second.
You immediately look back down and open Instagram, pretending that you have something to do. You hope she didn’t recognize you. If you can’t see her, she can’t see you, is what you tell yourself.
You hear footsteps approaching you, but you convince yourself it’s just a stranger walking past.
“Hey,” Minji says, a small smile on her face. Nevermind.
“Minji,” you greet her tentatively. “Hi.”
Nothing better than seeing your ex’s best friend for the first time since the breakup that happened three months ago. As expected, she’s taken on the role of the responsible one and is sober.
You mull over the past for a split second — you’ve never seen Minji tipsy, let alone drunk. She’s always been a good friend. It sucks that you guys don’t talk anymore, for obvious reasons.
Minji joins you in leaning against the wall. “How are you?”
“Good. You?”
You’re not curt because you have something against her — you just have no idea how to navigate these types of social dilemmas. There’s no exact rulebook for approaching a conversation with your best friend’s ex, especially an ex who you are still in love with.
“I’m good as well.”
Silence follows after. You fidget awkwardly, pulling out your phone just to stare at the same Instagram feed you were only looking at a few minutes ago. You keep refreshing the feed, but to no avail. You’re staring at the same reel of a cat playing a rhythm game.
“Look,” Minji says. “What happened between you and Hanni—”
Your finger twitches at the mention of her name. You straighten yourself up and rush out an apology. “I gotta go to the bathroom.”
Minji doesn’t stop you as you hurriedly weave your way through the mass of sweaty bodies. You don’t even know where the bathroom is. It takes you a good ten minutes to find it, and it’s surprisingly vacant.
You lock the door behind you. The air is humid inside, and you feel claustrophobic. The lights are dim. You steady yourself by gripping the sink. Hair is sticking to the back of your neck, and your clothes cling to your sweat.
You let out a deep exhale to collect your thoughts before washing your face. You stare at your reflection, and you’re not sure if you like what you see. You’re pale and your eyebags are prominent. You’ve lost the fat in your cheeks that Hanni always used to…
You splash water on your face again. If Minji’s here, then that means Hanni’s definitely here. Fuck, you knew you shouldn’t have come today. You close your eyes as the water drips down your face and back into the sink. It’s been a rough few months.
You grab some tissues to dry yourself and chuck them in the bin before steeling yourself to go back outside. You cautiously creak open the door and peek outside to check if Minji is still there. To your relief, the coast seems clear.
Your eyes scan around the house for a bit longer, searching for another corner to nestle into. And that’s when you see it. Or, more specifically, her.
Hanni’s leaning on the balcony railing, red solo cup in hand, and the moonlight is gently resting on her. There’s someone else with her – she looks familiar but you can’t remember her name. It was either Yunjin or Yeonjung. Or it could be Yeojin.
They’re laughing together, and Hanni’s eyes are crinkling just like you remember, and you remember the sound of her laughter, and how it was a melody that you were proud to bring out, and God, she just looks so pretty. Like she didn’t just go through a breakup.
Then Yunjin/Yeonjung/Yeojin places her hand on Hanni’s waist, and your body goes frigid. You feel hot — anger at first, shame next, and guilt last. And it’s a fiery concoction that burns all over you.
You have no right to be jealous. You force down the lump in your throat and look up at the ceiling until the tears are gone. Fuck. You will not survive the night sober. You take one last glance at Hanni and Yujin/Yeonjung/Yeojin and make up your mind.
You text Danielle: catch an uber, and send her $20 with Apple Cash. She’ll be fine. You hope. Then, you beeline straight to the kitchen, rummage through the cabinets, and help yourself to a small bottle of Jack Daniel’s. Then, you down it.
You grab another bottle of soju from a fridge (peach because it’s the best flavor) to slowly sip on as you settle on some couch. It feels slightly sticky, but beggars can’t be choosers. You know you’ll be too drunk to care in a second — you’re lucky you’re a lightweight.
It’s twenty minutes later that you feel the heat encompassing your body and the tip of your ears burning. You can barely hear the music over the pounding of your own heart. You automatically keel over to the side and relish the coolness of a silk pillow.
You’re mumbling to yourself (and possibly drooling) when you hear a muffled voice.
“Hey, you okay?”
Huh, the voice sounds just like Minji, but you’re too sluggish to respond. A few minutes later, there’s something blissfully cold pushing against your cheek, and then it’s gone. You’re pulled up so that you’re sitting again, and your head lays against the top of the sofa.
“Drink this,” Minji(?) says, and they guide the bottle to your hand. You shakily take a few gulps, and of course, you spill some of it on yourself, but Minji(?) cleans it up with some tissues.
“Thanks,” you mumble.
“Do you have anyone to take you home?”
You try to shake your head, but it makes you feel nauseous and you almost fall face forward off the sofa. Minji(?) luckily catches you and helps you back up.
“I’ll be back,” Minji(?) says. “Stay still.”
You blearily open your eyes, and everything still seems the same. Every movement of your head feels as though it’s in slow motion, like you’re in some kind of TikTok velocity edit, but worse.
People are still mingling, there’s still Boat Race and Beer Pong going on, and the night is still young. Your eyes close shut on their own. Your heartbeat is still as loud as ever.
Clearly, your plan to drink in order to forget about your ex didn’t work, because just a few minutes after Minji(?) has left, you think of Hanni again.
The two of you met in your first year of university the way most people meet: through a friend of a friend. In this case, the friend of a friend was Danielle. So, in retrospect, at least there’s one thing you can thank Danielle’s amiableness for.
You and Hanni hit it off quite well — both still new and adapting to the unexplored terrain that is university, and despite your initial awkwardness and standoffish nature, you both found an unlikely friendship through your common love for simulation and management games.
(If you scroll all the way back to the top of your message history, it would show your first conversation as you teaching her how to illegally download City Skylines.)
Four months later and after countless movie marathons and one laptop explosion (your Macbook Pro died in flames after you attempted to open the Sims 4 with all its DLCs that you pirated), the two of you officially started dating. The way Hanni asked you out was extremely nerdy, but you think that’s what made it all the better.
You were both playing Minecraft one night, and while you were in the dark depths of a comically humongous cave, Hanni was doing God knows what up on the surface. That’s how it always was: Hanni was the builder and you were the miner. There’s no better dynamic than that.
It was relatively silent for around ten minutes until your curiosity got the better of you. “What are you doing up there?”
“Nothing,” you could hear the smile on her face. “Just building.”
“I know that,” you huffed. “I mean, what are you building?”
A muffled giggle. “Secret.”
You paused your mining. You’d probably see endless corridors of stone and coal in your dreams. “Should I go back up?”
“No!” Hanni quickly exclaimed. “Please, not yet.”
“Alright,” you grumbled, placing down a crafting table to make a new pickaxe. “Hurry up, I’m almost out of food.”
Fifteen minutes later, you heard a meek, “You can come up now”, and then the abrupt sound of her ending the Facetime. You were confused, and you tried to call her back, but to no avail. You spent an embarrassing few minutes trying to remember where the stairs back up were. Eventually, you began the arduous journey back up to the surface, and when you reached the top, your thumb ached from pressing the space key too much.
You saw it immediately. Right next to your cottage was a custom cherry blossom tree with a bench under it. You moved towards it, and a sign caught your attention: “Can we place our beds next to each other from now on? <3”
You laughed to yourself, blushing, and entered the house Hanni made before breaking your bed and placing it next to her pink one. You took a screenshot of this and sent it to her. She replied immediately with a Facetime call back. And that was that.
It was 9 months of this: enjoying each other’s presence, being disgustingly in love and domestic, opening yourselves up to one another… before The End arrived. Maybe you should have seen it coming. You were never good with your emotions though.
(Danielle’s horrified reaction upon seeing your ‘T’ result after that nonsense test she made you do flashes through your mind.)
Even if you did see it coming, would you have been able to stop it anyway?
Looking back now, it was so obvious. The number of dates dwindled down. The dates that did happen, once full of animated conversation and laughter over silly little things, now consisted of half-hearted and dry replies.
Maybe it was your fault. You know how distant you can get under academic pressure, and especially with a course as demanding as nursing, there’s barely any time to yourself, let alone Hanni.
The End happened on a Saturday evening. A familiar rhythmic pattern of knocks echoed through your apartment, and you slowly made your way to the door to greet Hanni.
“Hey,” you smiled tiredly as you leaned against the doorframe. “I missed you.”
With the hand that’s not holding takeaway, Hanni squeezed your hand lightly. “I missed you too.”
You both made your way back inside the apartment. You went to your room and slumped back in your chair, continuing your work as Hanni set up the table for dinner. Even though both your schedules were packed, you were glad that you were able to see her once in a while. It sucked, but it had to be enough, was what you told yourself. Little did you know.
At Hanni’s calling of your name, you remember running your fingers through your hair, closing your eyes for a second and taking a deep breath. A second was the plan. You ended up dozing off right then and there, and Hanni had to come in and shake you awake.
Dinner was quiet, save for the sounds of the clinking of cutlery and the occasional slurp. It had been like this for a while. At least there was background noise with the TV playing on some obscure channel. You wondered when this became the norm. The two of you didn’t even bother to ask about each other’s day, because it would elicit the same response: “Exhausting.”
You swallowed the last of your food and mentally prepared yourself to drop the bomb.
“Hanni,” you started off cautiously. “You know how we’re in second year now?”
She hummed in response, her eyes meeting yours. You missed when it used to have so much life and love in them.
“Well,” you breath hitched. “I start placement soon. And it’s full-time.”
“Oh.”
You both knew it was coming, but you guess it wasn’t something you were both prepared to face. Full-time placement typically ranges from four to six weeks, and the university allocates you a location to work at, usually far from home.
Hanni’s face was unchanging, and you hated this. She used to always be so expressive around you. You would always be able to read each other like a book — that’s how it always was. “How soon is soon?”
You tapped your finger on the desk nervously. “Like… next week type of soon?”
She dropped the chopsticks on the table. “Are you serious? You couldn’t tell me sooner?”
“It’s not that deep,” you hastily defended yourself. “A month isn’t that bad. At this point, it’s normal for us to not see each other for a month anyway.”
Your tone was harsher than you intended, but in the heat of the moment, your pride and your stress got the better of you. But this was the worst mistake you could’ve made, because it all escalated so fast and so wrongly.
Hanni scoffed in disbelief. “You say that like it’s my fault. You’re the one who’s always busy. You’re the one constantly canceling our plans. I’m the only one who’s trying to keep this relationship together.”
“Don’t act like I’m not trying here,” you gritted your teeth. “You know my schedule. All the free time I have, I spend it with you.”
“I can’t believe you’re guilt-tripping me over wanting to spend more time with you.”
“I’m not—” You stopped yourself from raising your voice. “I’m not guilt-tripping you. You should’ve told me how you felt rather than just dropping this all on me today. I’m already stressed enough.”
Hanni let out a scornful laugh. “Oh, you can’t be the one to talk about dropping bombs. And have the past few weeks not been enough of an indication for you? You’re too stressed to notice how we literally act like strangers?”
“You can’t expect me to read your mind!”
“Well, I expect you to at least care enough to notice!”
You threw your hands up in exasperation. “Look—”
She cut you off. “Whatever. I don’t think this will work out. Especially now that you’re practically going MIA for a month.”
“Are you serious?” You spat. “You don’t think our relationship is worth fighting over? You can’t even handle a few weeks?”
The jarring screech of the chair scraping against the floor as Hanni sharply stood up rang in your ears. “I have been fighting. But clearly, you’re too in over your head to see it. We’re over.”
And with that, she stormed out of the apartment with a thunderous slamming of the door.
You’re crying. You’re still at the party, drunk out of your mind, and you’re bawling your eyes out. You at least have some dignity to force yourself up and stumble outside so that no one has to witness what a horrible mess you are.
You drop yourself against the wall, and you hit your head against it. It hurts like hell, and there’s going to be a bruise tomorrow, and you want to scream so badly. You clench your fists instead, feeling the digging of your nails into your palm, your body racking with sobs as you try to breathe, but it’s too hard.
You couldn’t even grieve in the first month, because you were on placement. It did provide a temporary distraction from The End, but at night, when you lay in bed, miles away from home, there was nowhere else to run.
You sat with that weight, that feeling of your body closing in on itself. Tossing and turning, you could only rely on completely crying your eyes out until you were so drained that you had no choice but to fall asleep.
All you were left with each morning was the swelling in your eyes and the ache all over your body.
When you finally finished placement, you did what anyone else would do after a breakup: entirely shut the world out. The only time you left was for mandatory classes, which you barely survived. A cap and mask to hide your miserable self was the solution.
In the third month, Danielle somehow managed to lure you out of your room. She offered you some takeaway from your favorite restaurant, and you were surprised that she didn’t pry. You must’ve looked really bad. After that, you gradually assimilated yourself back into normal society and got a grasp of your usual routine.
What hurt most was that it wasn’t hard to live without Hanni, because you had already been separate and distant before you even broke up. The other hardest part was learning how to move on, because it was something you never thought you’d have to do.
You didn’t want to move on though, and although Danielle reassured you that it was fine (you finally broke and told her everything one night when she found you drunk on the couch blabbering to yourself), there was this nagging feeling in your chest that it was the right thing to do.
After all, it was your fault.
You hear the door of the house open and there are faint voices floating around. “Check if she’s outside.”
Some time passes by before a soft voice calls out your name. This is followed by a few gentle taps on your cheek.
You curl yourself up and turn away from the stranger, your voice small and croaky. “Leave me alone.”
“I’m gonna take you home.”
You shake your head. “I don’t want to.”
A few seconds pass by with no response. You assume mystery person has left, but they speak up again. “Why?”
“I’m sad,” your words come out nasally because of your blocked nose. “I’m really really really sad.”
You hear a sigh before the mystery person sits next to you, a few inches apart. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“I miss my ex,” you whine. “I miss her so much.”
“Um—”
“I want her back,” you continue, slurring your words. “I’m so stupid. So stupid.”
Mystery person listens silently.
“And the universe keeps reminding me of her. Yesterday, I was playing the Sims, and the Sim I made of her burnt my house down. She must really hate me.”
“...You made a sim of her?”
You sniff. “Yes. And I made one of me. And I made us marry.”
Mystery person laughs quietly. The two of you sit there and focus on the muffled music from the party for a few minutes.
“Did you really mean it?” They suddenly ask.
“Mean what?”
“That you want her back.”
The question makes you burst into tears again.
“Yes,” you ramble. “I miss her so much… I want her back… I’d do anything…”
Your voice grows weaker with every passing word. You pass out after a minute of repeating the same thing over and over again.
You wake the next morning with a killer headache and swollen eyes. Huh, this doesn’t feel too unfamiliar. You’re snuggling yourself deeper into the bedsheets, but then you realize that this is way too comfortable to be your own bed. You blink your eyes open, adjusting your vision, and thankfully the room is dark, otherwise you would’ve been flashbanged.
Oh my god, your mind eventually registers. This is not your room. This is Hanni’s room.
You sit up in shock and horror. It makes you nauseous but you hold it down. How on earth did you end up in her room?
You can hear some shuffling outside the door. Okay, you think. Two options here. Best case scenario: It’s Minji, and you can awkwardly say hi and bye. Worst case scenario: It’s Hanni. There is no current thought as to how you will approach the situation.
Then you hear humming, and just your luck, it’s Hanni.
Okay, you think to yourself again and look out the window, is it possible to survive that jump? (It isn’t.) Your brain runs through hundreds of methods to somehow suddenly die, but none of them are plausible.
Hanni approaches the door, and you quickly hide under the sheets and pretend to be asleep.
She flicks the light on. “I know you’re awake.”
You sheepishly peek out from under the covers.
“Go brush your teeth and shower,” Hanni says. Then, in a smaller voice, as if embarrassed, she continues, “Your toothbrush is still there.”
You stand in the shower, contemplating all of your life decisions that have led to this very moment. You brush your teeth, still contemplating all your life decisions. You consider sending a text to Danielle, something along the lines of: I HATE YOU!!!! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!, but that’s not very fair to her.
You decide on sending a nicer text: hi i hope you got home okay… sorry for not staying sober!
You pace around the bathroom, thinking of what to say to Hanni when you step out. You could just take off and run, but you’re probably not coordinated enough to do that. Guess it’s time to be the bigger person and have a mature conversation.
You take one big dramatic step into the living room of her apartment. Minji isn’t home, it seems. You gulp as you see Hanni, back turned to you as she’s cooking breakfast. There’s already a glass of water and Advil waiting for you on the table.
You wordlessly sit down and gratefully take it. After a while, Hanni sets the table up, and this takes you back to the day of The End. You sit there, frozen, but then she stares at you in confusion and you remind yourself to eat like a normal human being.
“So,” Hanni says after a bit. “Do you remember anything from last night?”
“No,” you fidget in your seat. “Did I do something bad?”
“You said you missed me. And wanted to get back together.”
“Oh,” you swallow.
Hanni tilts her head. You still can’t read her. “Did you mean it?”
You play around with your scrambled eggs. “...Yes?”
She continues to stare at you.
“I did,” you say, a bit more firmly this time, albeit shakily. “And I’m sorry — for everything. I took you for granted… and I should’ve been more considerate of your time and your feelings.”
A pause.
“I’m sorry as well,” Hanni bites her cheek. “I shouldn’t have expected you to know how I felt.”
Another pause. “And I miss you too.”
“Truce?” You offer an awkward smile.
Hanni puffs out her cheeks. “No more last-minute news?”
“No more last-minute news.”
“Spend more time with me? Quality time?”
You nod. “Tell each other how we feel?”
“Tell each other how we feel,” Hanni repeats. Then she says in a serious tone, so serious that you almost don’t believe what you’re hearing. “Buy me Planet Zoo?”
“Buy you… Planet Zoo?”
Hanni swiftly hooks her pinky into yours before you can stop her. “You pinky promised!”
Unbelievable.
“Whatever,” you mutter with a smile.
Planet Zoo is a small price to pay to get the love of your life back.
(“Okay, how drunk was I on a scale of one to ten?”
“Oh, you were so drunk.”
“I said on a scale of one to ten.”
“Like, passed out on the floor, crying, mumbling my name scale of drunk.”
“Okay, not my finest moment. But you were there with Yunjin… or Yeonjung. Or Yeojin. What else was I meant to do?”
“Yujin. It’s Yujin.”
“Oh… Agree to never mention this again?”
“Nope. Love you.”)
Dedicated to user shuxiii… hope you enjoyed if you are reading this…

I feel this on a deep, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual level. No other show has ever affected me as profoundly as The Legend of Korra. Yes, yes, yes to everything in this post, thank you for expressing exactly how I feel🥰
The Legend of Korra is a really important show to me personally, but I can't even say the first two letters of the main character's name without 𝓔𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂 𝓯𝓾𝓬𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓱𝓾𝓶𝓪𝓷 𝓸𝓷 𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓱 giving me their two cents that the first show is better. I didn't fucking ask. It's just a show I've accepted I can never so much as mention, and that hurts............. Korra was the first time I saw myself mirrored in a protagonist, she empowered me and made me so proud of who I am. I'm glad so many people love the original, it's a great show, but that's not an excuse to constantly put me down for liking the second show more.

Asami sato x female reader
The sun was setting over Republic City, casting a warm, golden glow over the tall buildings and busy streets. The day's hustle and bustle were beginning to wind down, leaving a peaceful calm in the air. The soft hum of satomobiles blended with the distant murmur of the evening crowd.
Y/N Beifong, daughter of Lin Beifong and a proud member of the Republic City Police Force, walked through the streets, her boots echoing softly against the pavement. She was tall and athletic, with short hair and a confident stride that turned heads. Her uniform, though slightly rumpled from a long day, still held an air of authority and respect.
Y/N had inherited her mother’s no-nonsense attitude, but underneath that tough exterior was a kind heart, especially when it came to her girlfriend, Asami Sato. Asami, the brilliant inventor and CEO of Future Industries, was the light in Y/N’s life, balancing her rough edges with grace and warmth.
As Y/N approached the gates of the Sato mansion, she felt the familiar flutter of excitement. No matter how exhausting her day had been, the thought of seeing Asami always brought a smile to her face. She pushed open the gate and walked up the path to the front door, her heart lightening with each step.
Asami met her at the door, her eyes lighting up with joy. She was dressed casually in a simple blouse and pants, her hair cascading over her shoulders. She wrapped her arms around Y/N in a warm embrace, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
“Welcome home, love,” Asami whispered, her voice full of affection.
“Thanks, Sami,” Y/N replied, her arms tightening around her. “I missed you.”
They stood there for a moment, just holding each other, letting the world fade away. Finally, Asami pulled back slightly, her eyes sparkling.
“Come on, I’ve got something I need your help with,” she said, taking Y/N’s hand and leading her inside.
Y/N followed her through the grand halls of the mansion, down to the workshop. The room was filled with various gadgets and blueprints, the air humming with creativity and innovation. Asami led her to a large table in the center of the room, where a partially assembled satomobile engine lay.
“I’ve been working on a new design,” Asami explained, her eyes alight with passion. “It’s more efficient and eco-friendly, but I’ve hit a bit of a snag with the cooling system.”
Y/N looked at the intricate machinery, her brow furrowing in concentration. “What seems to be the problem?”
Asami handed her a blueprint, pointing out the issue. “The coolant isn’t circulating properly. I’ve tried adjusting the valves, but it’s still overheating.”
Y/N studied the blueprint for a moment, her analytical mind at work. “Have you considered re-routing the coolant lines here?” she suggested, pointing to a section of the diagram.
Asami’s eyes widened in realization. “Of course! That makes perfect sense.”
Together, they set to work, their movements synchronized and efficient. Y/N’s strong, capable hands made quick work of the adjustments, while Asami provided the technical expertise. They worked in comfortable silence, their minds in perfect harmony.
As the evening wore on, they took a break, sitting together on a nearby bench. Asami leaned against Y/N, resting her head on her shoulder.
“Thank you for your help,” Asami said softly. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Y/N smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “I’m always here for you, Sami. No matter what.”
They sat there for a while, enjoying the quiet intimacy of the moment. Eventually, they resumed their work, the engine slowly taking shape under their skilled hands.
By the time they finished, it was late into the night. The engine hummed smoothly, the coolant flowing perfectly. Asami looked at it with satisfaction, her eyes shining with pride.
“We did it,” she said, turning to Y/N with a grateful smile.
Y/N grinned, wiping her hands on a rag. “We make a pretty good team, don’t we?”
Asami laughed, her eyes sparkling with joy. “The best.”
They cleaned up the workshop, putting away tools and tidying the space. Once everything was in order, they headed back upstairs, hand in hand.
In the cozy warmth of the living room, they settled on the couch, a blanket draped over their legs. Asami snuggled close to Y/N, her head resting on her chest. Y/N wrapped her arms around her, holding her close.
They talked softly, sharing stories about their day, their hopes and dreams for the future. Asami’s voice was soothing, a gentle melody that lulled Y/N into a state of blissful contentment.
Eventually, their conversation slowed, replaced by the comfortable silence of two people deeply in love. Y/N felt her eyelids growing heavy, the warmth of Asami’s body lulling her to sleep.
Just as she was drifting off, she heard Asami’s soft voice.
“I love you, Y/N,” she whispered, her breath warm against Y/N’s neck.
Y/N smiled, her heart swelling with love. “I love you too, Sami. Always.”
As the night settled around them, they fell asleep in each other’s arms, their hearts beating in perfect harmony. In the quiet of the Sato mansion, amidst the hum of machinery and the distant sounds of the city, Y/N and Asami found their peace, wrapped in the warmth of their love.

Chapter 1 Ch 2 - p.1 Ch 2 - p.2 Ch 2 - p. 3 Ch 2 - Part 4 Chapter 3 Chapter 4
Y/N´s PoV
Ahhh, Republic City, first time I moved in here about 1 year ago I had a blast. I felt it was about time I got myself away from that hell hole I was supposed to call home…but we don’t talk about that. “Bills are catching up to me…and I´ve got nowhere to run.” I mumble beneath my breath, as I hold a bunch of letters on my hand. The large, thick, red letters with a prominent “Past Due” and “Final Demand” written on each one of them. I feel the unpleasant weight on the pit of my stomach and swallow dryly, shoving the letters aside with a loud exhale. Who knew it cost so much to make it to detective?! I mean, sure hands down it’s the fucking capital city of the United Republic Nations AND one of the largest and most modern cities in the world but Tui and La…ease on the prices!
I look up at the old clock, on the small entry hall of my apartment. “Fuck fuck, shit shit shit!!” I gasp, I am so going to be late to practice. I grab my black jacket, with the fire nation insignia on its back, and my dark matte helmet as I run out the door, down the old elevator, towards the garage. The loud and stressful squeaking of the elevator only heightens my already high cortisol levels. I swear to Raava, one day this shit is going to break down and take the building down with it! Once the old, loud, rusty metal doors of the elevator open I barge right out heading for my perfectly parked satocycle on its assigned place. A gift from Asami and Mr Sato for my hard work for the company. Shoving the helmet in my head, part of my dark messy curled hair hangs out on the bottom. I speed out of the garage, the bike taking off the ground slightly as I go over the bump on the entrance of the parking space, joining the satomobiles on the road with a loud squeak from the wheels of the bike, as I drift to the right.
I can´t be late again! Officer Wang will kill me and probably pull me out of the program, which is a big ass no no. I haven’t come this far just to fuck things up all over again.
Chief Beifong´s PoV
“Officer Song, didn´t I JUST tell you to take the route to Northern Avenue?!” I grumble between gritted teeth at the officer who´s driving. Guess I know who´s driving next time. I mean how much of an imbecile do you have to be to not follow simple orders?! Orders I JUST GAVE!!?? I look at the terrified officer, gripping the wheel of the satomobile as he mumbles and gags on his words. “I- uh- Ch-Chief I just I- I´m sorry I wasn´t paying attention.” He swallows. I remain unimpressed with the attempt of a shitty excuse that was made. “Well focus and listen. You´re not getting paid to sit around, mouth agape listening to the spirits.” I groan loudly at him.
Fear in his eyes officer Song nods his head up and down quickly and practically yells “Yes Chief!”. Just as I was about to tell him to tone it down the loud screech of wheels catches me off guard. Just as I look to my side, a black satocycle with a few red highlights speeds right past us. What the flame-o was that?! Swiftly making its way past traffic the motorcycle speeds away. “Officer Song, catch up to that satocycle, now!!” I practically scream at the officer as he presses the clutch, changes to 4th and speeds up.
Y/N´s PoV
Did I just fucking see what my eyes saw. Did I just speed through a police patrol satomobile?! The loud sirens catching up behind me answer my fears. Well, that´s it. I´m officially fucked. I´m done for life. I´m left with two choices, obey, pull over, pray it´s not the fucking Chief of Police, flirt my way out of this and definitely arrive late for class…or drop it, speed off like a demon, hopefully not get caught or die on the way and…still arrive a little late to class. I groan as my head drops in defeat.
I´m so done with my life.
I signal to the right as I slow down, pulling over. The blaring sirens emitting a last Woop before silencing, as the satomobile pulls right behind me. I turn the motor of the bike off, getting off and standing up, as I hear the doors of the car shutting behind me before a deep female voice sends a shiver down my spine. No, it can´t be. You can´t be serious right now. My eyes wide in fear as I slowly turn around to be met with the most beautiful yet lethal jade eyes I´d ever seen my entire life. Damn, hearing her voice back in headquarters from far away was already…something, but seeing her up close?! Not even The Avatar ,wherever they're at, can save me from this one. It´s the first time I get to see the Chief of Police personally. Sure I´m in the Detective´s Program but we rarely stay in the headquarters where she seemingly lives at. I am snapped back from my thoughts when her striking voice booms through my eardrums. Wait, was she talking? Shit I didn’t hear anything…
“I am talking to you. Take off your helmet, now! I asked you a question, better start speaking.” she says. I didn’t even realise my helmet was still on. I carefully take it off, still in shock at seeing THE Chief Lin Beifong in front of me. My messy, dark hair falls to my shoulders. The, once bright, blood red highlights shining on the sun. “I- uh” I try to speak but nothing comes out. My mouth feels dry, as I lick my lips. I look at the other officer behind her, he seems to be putting a strong façade, but I can see the nervousness behind his eyes. “Don’t stare at my officer! I asked you a question.”
Chief Beifong´s PoV
Oh for fuck sake, she´s slow…is she go- why is her hair painted? It´s not exactly unlikable. I think I´ve seen her, but I can´t recall where from. Why am I staring? WHY IS SHE STARING? “Don’t stare at my officer! I asked you a question.” Her mouth agape, my already visible frown deepens. She has three seconds to answer. 1…2..- “I- uh I´m sorry ma´am- uh Chief. Sorry, could you repeat the question? The uh…helmet was- I don’t think I heard.” I groan rather loudly as I exhale. I clench my jaw, as I breath in. “I asked. Do. You. Know how fast you were going?” I speak slowly and clearly as I cross my arms.
Y/N´s PoV
Spirits…and I thought I was stressed, this woman is going to explode! “I asked. Do. You. Know how fast you were going?” I hear her say loud and clear. So that´s the Beifong scowl people talk about. It´s cute. A little unnerving for those who can´t handle it. “Uh…not fast enough clearly!” I joke to get some tension off the air, but as I look at the Officer behind her, I only see his eyes widen beyond possible. I look back at the Chief and if looks could kill… “Is this a joke to you?! Is endangering other citizens lives a hobby for your entertainment? Clearly you seem to be asking for your license to be revoked.” Her stern voice makes straighten my back. It´s not that I´m afraid of her, but if I want my way out of this I might as well show some class. I clear my throat as I say “I apologize Chief, that was never my intention. I am pretty secure on my driving skills, and I am fully aware of the dangerous action I was doing. In my defence I am in a huge hurry. I´m in the Detective´s Program and I´m just trying to not get kicked out of there, this is my last chance…” I mumble that last part as I rub the back of my neck. Fuck it´s weird to be so verbally polite. I look back up at her to see what kind of reaction I got off of her only to be met with the exact same Beifong scowl as before. Well, that was worth shit. Her gaze is penetrating mine, almost as if she´s analysing me.
Chief Beifong´s PoV
That´s where I know her from. She´s in the Detective´s Program and sometimes wonders in the headquarters, she must be the firebender that Officer Wang told me. What was her name? Just as I am about to ask her, I am interrupted by the blaring sound coming off my radio. “Chief, come in. Over.” I groan in annoyance. Spirits, when do I ever catch a break? “I´m busy, what is it?” my stern and strong voice talks back to the radio. “Chief, we´ve got a Triple Threat Triad attack going on, over at the Eastern Market. We need your assistance. Over.” I look back at the young cadet with a scowl as she smiles back at me. Ugh, why is she smiling?
Y/N´s PoV
I just might make it out of here. I look at the Chief with a smile on my face as she stares back at me, the same Beifong scowl on her face but this time thicker, more prominent. I hear her exhale. “I catch you driving that thing over the speed one more time and I revoke your license and you better not drive it on my watch if you ever make it to detective, which hopefully, you won´t!” I hear her yell at me. Before I can even say anything back, she turns back around heading for the police satomobile. Well, isn´t she charming? Hot…and charming. “Song, move it! I drive.” I hear her yell at the officer. Poor guy, spirits. Though he is lucky he gets to be by her side. Hm, maybe I´ll be lucky enough for that once I´m a detective, which I want more than anything now that she seemed so annoyed by it. I smirk to myself as I think how it would be like to be next to this very angry yet stunning woman all day. Pushing her buttons does seem fun.
I put my helmet back on as I drive away towards the officers’ training site. I do my best to keep the speed on limit but as I look at the time on the satocycle I almost pass out. I am already 10 minutes late. FUCK. I groan loudly as I check my surroundings for any secret police satomobiles as I speed away. The faster I get there, the faster this is all over.
.- Later during practice -.
Y/N´s PoV
Fuck, I´m beat. Wang sure is getting his revenge for my late arrival. We are not many in the Detective´s Training Program and we´ll be even less given there are only two spots available. The majority of the class is all earthbenders, me being the only firebender. Which should make me feel perhaps uneasy or maybe a little scared, but honestly it just makes me feel like a total badass. I mean, hear me out, the only firebender in the troop and I get one of the Detective spots?! How crazy would that be? I´m quickly pulled from my thoughts when I hear that annoying voice once again. “So, Y/L/N, seems like you can give up already and give me my position as Detective.” The man says with a pleased smug on his face. “Why don’t you go bother someone else, Kang?” I groan annoyed as I take a sip from my water. “I´m just saying, as the only firebender you should at least make an effort to arrive in time don’t you think?” He scoffs loudly. I ignore his little stunts as I smirk to myself. “And you should make an effort on brushing your teeth. You got a little something there.” I scoff as I point to my own teeth with a disgusted face. I can visibly see him get red as a smirk makes its way on my lips.
“What´s going on over here? Y/L/N, Kang break is over. Get over here you two.” I hear Officer Wang´s voice yell from the other side of the field. Over? Spirits, I didn’t even have time to piss! I groan as I look at Kang´s smug little face. “Quit your whining and come prove your worth, princess.” I hear him chuckle. Did this cunt just call me, princess?! Now he better pray to Raava I won´t kill him. My blood boiling at the nickname I groan angrily. I have nothing to prove to you, cunt.
“Alright cadets, Y/L/N and Kang you two seemed to be having a nice chat back there. Get sparring, the others watch.” Wang´s voice echoes through the dusty field as I walk towards the centre, Kang right in front of me with that smug still plastered on his face. I scoff to myself.
I am going to wipe the fucking floor with you.
Once I see Officer Wang´s hand signal us to begin Kang wastes no time and throws a large piece of boulder at me, I swiftly avoid it, turning my body sideways and leaning slightly backwards. Just as quick as that boulder came at me I 360º my body, lowering myself to the dusty floor my right leg pushes forwards as a small wave of fire strikes all the dust away and forces Kang backwards. Before he can react, I get back up and briskly uppercut him in the jaw getting a loud grunt from him. How ´ s that for a princess? I don’t let my guard down knowing this isn´t over until Officer Wang decides. My arms close to my ribs and fists closed tightly near my face I watch Kang´s movements attentively, guessing his next move as he cracks his neck and smugly says “That all you got?” I roll my eyes as I stare at him through my eyebrows. Kang´s right leg rises and hits the ground, making it shake in an attempt to shake me off my feet. I use my fire propulsion to elevate myself from the ground slightly to lower the impact, flying over him and landing on the ground behind him. Before he has even time to acknowledge where I went, I lower kick his leg, spinning my body after the hit to gain power and land a higher kick to his arm which was protecting his ribs. I hear him grunt and groan in discomfort and anger as he throws a punch to my face. I quickly dodge downwards, pulling the same first move by pushing my leg outwards and kicking Kang´s body to the ground. He hits the ground with a loud thud, dust setting in the air around us, I look over at Office Wang to know if it was over yet, but Kang takes my short distraction as a chance. His body still on the floor, he raises his arm and the piece of boulder I was standing on goes flying with me in it. Throwing me through the air and across the field as I land on the ground, rolling over due to the speed I was thrown, getting a few scratches and dirt all over me. I breath loudly as the dust covers my sight, relying on my hearing I hear the rumbling sound of the earth beneath me as I look ahead and see a wave coming from the ground. I barely have time to react, my eyes widening, as I dodge to the right but not fast enough. My left shoulder caught on the edge of the rock-wave as I stumble backwards. I don’t fall, my feet sliding backwards with the dust as I grip my shoulder and wince in pain. Fuck! This bastard almost dislocated my shoulder. I sway my arms in the air and push them outwards as a thin wave of flames pushes the dust away, finally allowing me to see Kang. Does he ever stop smirking? I run towards him as he sends two fat boulders my way, I lower myself, dragging my body through the ground as I avoid the boulders. I get back up quickly and jump, using my fire propulsion to help me gain height. I see Kang´s eyes widen as I stretch my leg down, my foot coming at high speed in contact with his face. He barely has time to register what happened before his body jerks downwards with the force of the hit. Faceplanting on the floor with a loud thud and grunt he stays there, the dust on the ground escaping sideways from us. “Who´s the princess now Kang?” I whisper smugly on his ear as I stand up and hear Officer Wang´s annoyed voice “Alright that´s enough of it. Get here you two.” Is he mad that Kang didn’t beat my ass? Why is it that nobody wants me to succeed?! “You fucking bitch…” I hear Kang grunt between gritted teeth as he gets up. I smirk proudly to myself, “What´s wrong? Hurts much?”. I hear Kang scoff loudly, “Barely feel it.”, pfff yeah right.
We walk backwards towards Officer Wang and the rest of the trainees. “Alright, as you know our program is coming to an end. We have two detective positions open and there are ten of you. Being Detective is no easy job, that is why there is a final exam in five days. Me and Chief Beifong will be deciding on who gets the job positions and who goes out.” No. Fucking. Way. Now I know for sure I won´t make it to Detective! Beifong and I were already off to a bad start this morning! She said it herself; she doesn’t want me to make it to Detective! “…Final Exam will be set in two parts. In the morning you will have the written exam, to make sure you actually listened to what was taught these past few months, and, in the afternoon, it will be a competitive sparring. Just like Kang and Y/L/N did, except the first one to fall is automatically disqualified.” Written exam? What is this, fucking high school?! Ugh, I better not be paired with Kang. “That´s it for today cadets, see you tomorrow at 9am sharp.” Officer Wang glances at me sideways as I mouth a ´sorry` silently. “Y/L/N, hit the showers in the headquarters, your shoulder is bleeding.” Officer Wang says with a hint of despise on his tone. Spirits, sorry I´m not made of fucking metal. I didn’t even notice I was bleeding. I look at my shoulder and notice the few reddened scratches and a small trickle of blood coming out. I hear Kang snicker next to me. The fuck are you smirking about? “Your nose also looks like shit Kang, but I guess a shower can´t fix that for you.” I smirk as I grab my towel, shoving it over my shoulder and heading back inside the headquarters before he can say anything.
My body is covered in dust and sweat; my defined muscular arms filled with small little scratches from rolling on the ground. My once black tank top also covered in a light brownish dusty substance. Gosh do I need a shower…My body is killing me. I pass through the Officer I saw with the Chief in the morning. Shit, she´s probably close by. I rush my way to the showers as to avoid her. It´s not that I don’t want to see her. Spirits know how much I´d pay to see those penetrating jade eyes of hers. But I don’t want her to see me while I look like shit…and probably smell like one too.
Chief Beifong´s PoV
As I am filing down some more reports and going over them, I hear grunts and noises from outside. Annoyed at the disturbance I get up from my chair with a sigh as I look over the window. Must be Wang training the cadets. Seeing the training field, I stare at one of the male cadets throwing boulders and another one dodging them out. Trying to figure who the other one is, I squint my eyes. The amount of dust surrounding them makes it hard, but the worn-out red highlights and the distinctive fire coming from the body allows me to figure out who it is already. It´s that speeding satocycle cadet I caught this morning. I observe them as I see the male cadet shake the ground, a wave heading towards her. But there´s too much dust for her to see anything at all. Fuck even I am struggling to keep up with what is going on. She dodges it but seemingly not totally. “That’s a nasty hit…” I mumble to myself. But she does seem to handle it…quite nicely I must say. Spirits, I´m staring again. I shake my head and groan in annoyance but am quickly distracted by the fire coming off her feet. Fire propulsion, that’s useful. I stare as she lands a powerful hit on the male cadets’ face. That´s going to leave a mark. I guess…she´s not that…bad. Whatever. If she´s to make it to Detective she´s supposed to be, at least, useful. I turn away and decide to head downstairs to check how Song is getting along with the other files. He´s not in the Detective´s Program, but he has some…potential, I cannot deny that.
“Officer Song, how are those files coming along?” I see him tremble underneath his armour. “Uh- well, Chief. It seems that the Triple Threat Triads crimes are lowering in amount…” I scoff. Sure, but they are not getting any easier to deal with. Song continues talking but I barely catch what he is saying as I look over his shoulder and notice the firebender cadet. She´s all dirty. Bunch of scratches in her shoulder too…bummer. She can deal with it. I think to myself, but yet, I can´t seem to find an explanation as to why I feel so drawn towards her. I shake these thoughts away and refocus on Officer Song. “…So, I guess that is pretty good right, Chief?” What´s pretty good? Shit, I didn’t hear. “Uhm yes, yes, it is. Now, get back to work Officer.” I clear my throat as I make my way back to my office. Sitting down on my chair I exhale, looking up at the pile of files and papers to read and fill in. Spirits I´m exhausted. I get started against my will. It´s going to be a long night, I might as well get it over with. After some time of insufferable writing, scribbling, and scratching I hear a knock on the door. I look up from the papers as I catch a glimpse of the clock and then stare at the door. It´s 10pm who the fuck is still in here?
“Uh, Chief, can I come in?" Is that- What is she doing here?
