thank you for the question!!! i'm hesitant to answer this one, since casey has gone thru a super long process of like. Redesign. a lot of my casey is self indulgence (but not thoughtless.)

i'm far from her canon design at this point. in fact i don't think i've ever drawn it. but i haven't seen anyone horrifically misinterpret my design for her, so maybe I'm closer than I think.

FACIAL FEATURES:

upturned, sharp eyes (going for monolid.) i always forget the eyeliner tho dont do that

HOOKED NOSE!!! even the canon forgets abt this.. a damn shame

eyebrows that thicken at the end rather the inside

these are the four most important things i think abt while drafting her out... it's tougher to interpret casey's features since she's racially ambiguous, but i think it's safe to say she's east or southeast asian. i operate on the headcanon she's mixed filipina and white (like her voice actress.)

again, even with all these features in mind, her proportions can vary. I'm not even the most consistent with her, just because there's so much room in interpretation.

her cheekbones are pretty high, and i tend to highlight them. her nose is small for a hooked nose, and her lips are usually full enough (not as full as april's tho)

also she becomes more synonymous with the Casey Jones name. also stacked, muscular women are awesome and I think we need more. Also her being top heavy contrasts with April's more bottom heavy design. everything i do comes back to capril

MISC NOTES OF VARYING IMPORTANCE:

her haircut genuinely does not matter. as long as its close to her scalp in length and straight, she looks like casey.

red eyeliner certainly helps, but isn't needed. (saying this to cope with the fact i always forget it)

her black lipstick helps a lot. along with her ear cuffs on her left ear.

sticking to her black and red palette is great, but browns, deep blues, whites, pinks, and denims are fun too. have fun.

thinking of her as butch instantly gives her sauce in the drawing process

Since neither you or joel have super high paying jobs, but still live in a dual income household, you can afford to go on some vacations but you likely just do short ones that aren't too far from home

Additionally, I have the feeling that joels favorite type of vacation destinations would be ones with more tropical locations where he can just sit back and relax on a beach since he's always stressed and tired from work, and doing a lot of walking to him doesn't seem like too much fun (although you convince him to do a couple of those bc you like going to historical landmarks and learning about other cultures).

With that in mind, I feel like places you could probably visit are Hawaii, Mexico, or a good amount of countries in the Caribbean, and you also at one point save enough go to Tahiti lol (maybe for your honeymoon or a special anniversary 🥺)

On your vacations, you and joel just fuck nonstop LOL, AND because they're mostly in tropical destinations, it's hot ;) so he always tells you not to pack too many clothes bc you won't be needing them ;)

You basically fuck for most of the time, only taking breaks to eat, sleep, and do a little bit of sightseeing or checking out the hotel or resort's amenities (mainly the pool)

Basically as soon as you check in you guys are vibrating (lol) with anticipation as you walk to your room, its on as soon as yall lock the door asdflj

Which you take advantage of rather than going to the resort's public pool since you prefer some privacy ;) You'll probably start off your day fucking and then take a break to swim in the pool (where you also might fuck LMAO) then cuddle and take a nap on those outdoor beds and wake up just to fuck again HAHAH yall do not pLAY when it comes to these vacations

The windows in these hotel rooms are huge so you have a good view from almost anywhere, including when yall take baths together so ✨optimal relaxation and vacation vibes✨ and yall will 99% of the time fuck in there too lol, it always escalates after you guys help each other wash up

AND in the outdoor shower too, how could you not.

i think about ur piece with shadow captioned “welcome to the promised land” ALOT�� with that, i wondered what your thoughts are on the sonic movies (both the ones that came out and the new one thats coming) in regards to their portrayal of the police/military/GUN.

I’m personally really disappointed in whats been done so far (with Tom being a cop, like cmon man what. and with the goofy portrayal of the military, especially that old general guy in the second movie) and im really nervous about whats coming, with team sonic working WITH GUN (and now Tom and Maddie wearing military uniforms) in the trailers. I have a suspicion that Maria’s death will be an “accident”, like a very MCU style “sometimes the military makes mistakes…” bullshit. itd really suck to see this series become another piece of copaganda, especially since like. its so out of character, like sonic is unique in the way its been blatantly anti military (for the most part) in the games. it wasn’t revolutionary by any means but it is arguably a core part of the original story.

the trailer made me feel a LOT of emotions, mostly negative if im honest, and the only thing that I liked from it was the scene of shadow bursting from his tank thing and being sloppin wet that looked like he was standing in the rain. so i went and made a comic of shadow in the rain. and i made it as anti military and anti capitalism as i could.

becasue sonic 3's marketing, in my opinion, especially after the second trailer came out, is a perfect axample of everything wrong with the current western (mostly USA, but the USA influences the entire world so.) society. it exemplifies capitalism, militarism, consumerism, a lack of emotional depth and the infantalization as well as mliking (for a lack of better word; i mean how advertizements are usually heavily marketed at kids because parents will buy anyhting to shut up their crying annoying meat bags and therefore spend money on shit they dont want nor need) of children (that detective pikachu bit was so painful). and let's not forget the fatphobia. it was so painful to go back and watch the first trailer to freshen my memory for this reply oh god.

when sonic 2 came out i was really happy with the movie. i think sonic 2 is miles better than 1 in terms of characters and fun, most obviously because there's more of actual sonic characters in it now then the first. the first felt mostly like a pilot honestly. the second one had much more fantastical details and elements thatreally leaned into sonic's world. Or at least... the environment artists tried with it. I remember being OBSESSED with the fact tehre was a mural of perfect chaos in that labyrinth for like 1 second and theorized about what it could mean. while watching the movie i even speculated it was foreshadowing that perfect chaos was gonna be the secret final boss of the movie as that was only the halfway point of the runtime. having sobered from the hype i understand its a neat detail from the cg department that means absolutely nothing.

the worst thing is that the movie (sonic 3 now) itself might be like. a well made movie with good (enough) writing and good visuals and whatever. sonic might betray the military and go his own way bc here he's a little younger and he's learning (he didnt grow up w military so he might be blissfull yunaware bc hes only been fed propaganda through hollywood movies so far) and him meeting shadow and learning about his fate might change his mind. we don't know yet.

The marketing sometimes is detatched from the movie itself so it'll misrepresent things for the sake of "bait" to get ppl to spend money to watch it (the teenage kraken movie suffered from that bc it was fun imo i liked it). Or even just to get people to make viral reactions to get even MORE news of the movie out and attract more people. Especially when adapting a story that already exists I think it makes them reveal a LOT of the movie (I saw ppl complain they reveal the entire movie in the trailer, i think given the fact we already know all those key moments shown it's fine)

I could just put the entire song here, but I'll put the part that makes me cry hard every time, especially knowing what happens after this: "I'm sick of being afraid of you... (I was literally on the verge of tears just from listening to it again to write this) I think the samples used in the police chase part also deserve mentioning. Same Train Home My first instinct is to say "THE KISS!!" but, although I LOVED it, the most emotional part for me was when the DJ starts to sing in first person, including herself instead of just narrating the scene. that's it for now, so far so good. i've seen the stuff about kerfur, as well as more farming integration. the farming bit sounds fun, as for the kerfur crafting changes:

hoo boy. i like the idea of needing to get a few more things, it makes sense in-universe. they do most of your job for you, it's fine to make the requirements a bit more difficult, but... i'm gonna level with you, the recipe i've seen and what you need to do for it seems overboard for a casual player. keyword casual. it almost feels like the difficulty spike was created with youtubers and streamers in mind--yknow, people who are professional gamers, or at the very least people who look up hacks to speedrun their kerfurs, because several of them made it seem very easy. i don't think the vast majority of people playing the game play it that way though; i didn't have omega kerfur until a couple of weeks in-game time, and i've seen a lot of people say the same or later. these changes could potentially push kerfur to closer to endgame for a good chunk of players, which seems like a bad move to me for a few reasons--

firstly, i'd imagine this change is in part to encourage players to get out of the base more instead of relying on kerfur for the hashcodes, but having an omega greatly opens up how much free time you have, which allows you more time to explore and make your base cozy. i never had time before i had them, i was too busy running around getting hashcodes and scrounging up money

secondly, late game has quite a few enemies that can instakill kerfur, which makes sending them out for codes and repairs kind of pointless. at that point you may as well keep your base kerfur as-is instead of spending the time and resources to upgrade. not to mention that one of the items requires mining in the cave which... personal note, i never found the pickaxe or stepped foot in the cave in 0.8.0, and frankly never planned to. guess i have to now!

thirdly, like... people get attached to their kerfurs. a lot of returning players i've seen discussing the update are upset they won't have their wife/husband/partner/child/roomate etc back until later in their run unless they mail them over. why would you wanna separate the players from one of their favorite aspects of the game? hell, i've contemplated mailing my 0.8.0 kerfur over not bc of the difficulty spike, but bc i feel bad leaving them behind in my old save

maybe i'm just overthinking and it won't be as bad once i do it, but i've just been puzzling over the changes. what do y'all think?? are the changes justified, or nah?

So I have a stupid iski idea...

this idea has been stuck in my head for the past few days, and refuses to leave me alone, so here's something for the writers out there who need/want a spicy + comedy iski prompt (assuming my humor isn't too far off the mark lol)

idk how many people read dom/sub doujinshi's here, but something that just recently occurred to me bc i've started reading raws is that the dom voice lines/commands are often in English (or some foreign language) while normal speech is Japanese (e.g. 'Kiss' instead of 'キスして', 'Stay' instead of '待って', 'Look' instead of '見って', etc.).

anyway, the idea (v stupid & v cliche, i'm super aware):

basically iski have an established dom/sub relationship

when it started, Isagi barely knew any English or German, beyond small phrases of command or praise (like, 'Come', 'Speak', 'Stop', 'Gut' (German - good), 'Süß' (German - cute/sweet), etc.) that he uses in intimate moments (could be sexual, or just comfort) with Kaiser

note: he does this because he's aware that Kaiser needs the extra layer of delineation between their normal interactions and their dom/sub moments/scenes

Isagi's accent is kind of heavy when he uses his dom voice

outside of those moments, they usually just communicate with the Mikage translators on, which smooths out a lot of Isagi's voice & sounds very different from his dom voice

Kaiser kind of gets Pavlov'd into associating Isagi speaking English and German is reserved for when his guard is down / when he's safe / when he doesn't have to be all... 'God's Chosen Emperor'

as the Japan team progresses through the U20 World Cup, Isagi, along with the rest of the Blue Lockers, per Ego's insistence, starts learning to speak English more fluently, and makes Kaiser help him study

Kaiser agrees (all begrudging 'fine. i can't let you be an embarrassment to my image. you need to be able to at least talk to people without the translators as crutches')

soon, he realizes what a mistake he's made by agreeing to this because hearing Isagi actually speak English, as opposed to the translators filtering his voice, to him has a huge effect on him he never noticed before (because he was always already in a vulnerable state of mind when Isagi used it before)

he doesn't ever address this with Isagi because he doesn't want Isagi making fun of him or taking advantage of this knowledge (in the 'i want to be in full control of myself at all times'/'i'm not entirely ready to open up about everything yet'/'i don't wanna seem weak' kind of way, not implying that Isagi would actually manipulate him in any way)

over the years, Isagi and Kaiser grow closer, they learn each other's idiosyncrasies, and they even broach the topic of 'Kaiser's past', but Kaiser still never tells Isagi about the dom voice language thing, especially since he slowly got used to English thing and doesn't react to it as much anymore

then, Isagi signs a contract with BM (or any German team really) and has to, obviously, move to Germany

so, of course, he asks Kaiser to help him with his German

Kaiser, realizing what would happen to him if he were to agree, says something along the lines of 'absolutely fucking not. u can stay helpless babe around here. i'll say shit for you if really need it, because i'm so magnanimous, as long as i get to tease you for it lots'

Isagi, not at all realizing what Kaiser's refusal is about and thinking that he just wants to see him flounder, is just like 'fine. asshole' and never mentions it to Kaiser again

Kaiser breathes a sigh of relief, kind of assuming that Isagi will just leave it be, despite it making no sense that Isagi would just back down that easily

Isagi starts learning German in his own time, mostly so that when he doesn't have someone to help him communicate, he can still get by

he even gets help from Ness for a little bit (mainly bc Ness, no longer a full-time Kaiser glazer and fully aware of why Kaiser said no, is channeling his inner little shit and can't wait to see it all come crashing down on Kaiser. yes, he gets along quite well with Hiori now; Hiori denies all allegations of being a bad influence)

he still lets Kaiser speak for him most of the time when they're outside, getting groceries, having dinner, visiting places, etc. because he can tell that Kaiser is happy when he does it, and during interviews, he can usually get by with just English

eventually, somebody manages to dig up Kaiser's criminal record and it gets blown up in the media

Kaiser doesn't really care about the whole thing because he's already worked through that part of his past, but the media needs to be appeased so that it can move on to the next big thing, so BM arranges a press conference to deal with the situation, and Isagi is there, watching from the side

at first, it's going well, or well as it could, given the topic and nature of the media, but some rude tabloid writer/paparazzo has to ruin it

basically, he breaks code and starts deviating from the preapproved questions, as well as calling Kaiser all sorts of names, in German, of course

Kaiser is used to this plenty, he's called himself all those things plenty, heard it from many more people, but Isagi is incensed at the scene, his German atp good enough to understand every word

he immediately gets up from where he's leaning against the wall, finds his place beside Kaiser, and gets on his Slursagi bag IN GERMAN

again, Kaiser couldn't care less about the paparazzo, and was already signaling security to pull the dude out for disrupting the press conference when Isagi was making his way onstage, before, well, Slursagi engaged, locked and loaded with all the slurs he could remember and plenty more he made up in the five seconds it took him to get to the center of the room, giving zero fucks about his own reputation as golden boy, heart of Blue Lock, whatever

now, while this dude is basically peeing his pants from the verbal lashing Isagi is giving him, plus the legal action he's threatening, Kaiser is in true crisis mode, bc 'omfg, this is why i didn't want u to learn German. save me from this menace of man. scratch that, i'm right where i'm meant to be. but did he really have to do this in front of everyone? did this really have to be the way i found out? ness, i'm gonna kill you. i know you knew about this and you didn't fucking warn me. how dare you. i cannot be going into subspace during a fucking press conference. plz plz plz let this be over soon. i'm dying rn. omg, omg, omg, he's so fucking hot, his voice is so pretty and gravel-y, his accent is so smooth, save me. Yoichi, i'm gonna kill you for doing this to me in public. fuck that, let's seriously gtfo of here. like, rn'

luckily for Kaiser, that is basically the end of the press conference because their pr manager is like, 'even if it's for a teammate, we cannot have someone flying off the handle at the media like this'

so Kaiser and Isagi get to go off alone, at which point Isagi notices that Kaiser is unusually quiet, and is like 'what's wrong? if it's about what that dimwit said, obviously he's fucking wrong, he doesn't know anything about you and certainly has no right to be accusing you of shit when he can't even get his facts straight. actually, this whole media circus is just plain ridiculous. you were framed, like what the fuck? & u didn't that awful sperm donor of yours get arrested right then and there for literally hitting a child right in front of the police????' and he keeps going on this tangent, all still in German

Kaiser's still quiet, hoping Isagi will just shut up already because the German is really getting to him, when he finally can't take it anymore and whines, fucking whines, immediately stopping Isagi in his tracks

Isagi's all like, 'shit, i got too caught up in getting pissed with the situation, i gotta be paying attention to my sub. babe, what's wrong? do you wanna go back home?' (yes, Isagi moved in immediately when he got to Germany, Kaiser insisted)

Kaiser nods, and they race back

Isagi sets Kaiser on the couch and goes to fetch him water and a weighted blanket, still thinking that he's bothered by the paparazzo poking at old scars

instead, when Isagi gets back, he hears Kaiser muttering under his breath 'i knew this was gonna happen. shit. i knew this was gonna happen. i should've told him beforehand. so fucking embarrassing. and in public, too. no, actually, fuck Ness for never telling me about this. i know for a fact he knew. and that cyan ultra-sadist asshole. i'm sure he was in on it too. i'm gonna kill them both, then everyone else, then Yoichi, then myself. stupid, stupid, stupid body, getting conditioned on his stupid voice, what the fuck is wrong with me? his voice? are you kidding? no, no, no, this cannot be real. Michael, get a grip, you can't seriously just drop like this. not because of Yoichi's stupid, stupid voice-' before breaking off when he realizes that Isagi has come back, 'SHIT'

Isagi's like, 'wait, what do you mean my voice?' still ever so infuriatingly in German

'THAT, you fucking idiot!! stop it! stop talking in German! i fucking knew this was gonna happen, stupid, stupid Yoichi getting me conditioned to your stupid voice!!!' Kaiser spits out, his voice getting louder as he feels increasingly embarrassed by the situation he's found himself in.

'stop talking... in German? what's wrong with my German?' finally flipping back to English, and Isagi finally gets the memo, a sly smirk spreading on his face, 'Oooh. I see someone likes me speaking in German, is that what? is that why u didn't want me learning it? because i turned u on, because i made u feel safe? you should've told me, Mihya'

'AS fucking IF!!! clearly, my opinion or not, you'd learn the language. if i had told you, you'd only do that faster and use it against me! i know you, you asshole! you stupid dom!' Kaiser flusters

'of course, i would' Isagi responds smoothly, 'but i'd also make you feel so much better, wouldn't i?'

Kaiser gapes at his audacity, blustering a 'you- you fucking- shut up! no way! you stupid dom! what are you on about?! there's no w-'

'want to test that, baby? komm her, mein schöner Kaiser' (come here, my lovely emperor/beautiful Kaiser)

Kaiser immediately flushes when Isagi starts speaking German in the press conference room, shoots a quick glare at their PR manager to clean up this mess, and drags Isagi out of the room by the ear

'ow, ow, ow. what's up with that, Kaiser? i was just getting to the good part. he fucking deserved that for-' Isagi immediately switches back into Japanese, still ranting

'shut up! u dumb dom! what do u think u were doing out there?' Kaiser grills, slowly recovering from the shock of hearing Isagi's German

'huh? that dude was a fucking asshole; he needed a talking to!' Isagi insisted, not at all understanding what the issue was.

'not that! the German! what was up with that? when did u learn German behind my back??' Kaiser fumes

'huh, the German? oh, i just thought i might need it if no one was around to help me speak. what's wrong?' Isagi answers, still entirely oblivious

Kaiser drags a hand down his face as he tries to compose himself again. he opens his mouth, 'what's wrong? WHAT'S WRONG???? what's wrong is i nearly dropped in subspace because of it, you asshole!!'

'you- what? wait, because i spoke German?' Isagi burst out laughing 'no fucking way, is that why you didn't want to help me with it? because you knew how you'd react?'

'shut up! you trained my body into this, u fucking idiot! this is all because of you! it was already bad enough when you started learning English, you just had to go and learn German, too!' Kaiser twisted Isagi's ear harder

'ow, ow, ow. alright, alright. i'll stop teasing you, just stop being mad at me. lass es mich wiedergutmachen, ja?' Isagi purrs, pulling Kaiser in by the waist. (let me make it up to you, yeah?)

Kaiser and Isagi walk into the locker room. them pulling off their shirts reveal a battleground, like they had been mauled by dogs

Hiori snorts, 'so what did it, hmm?' elbowing Isagi's side, eyebrows raising and smile widening in a knowing look 'was it the defending his honor, or the German?'

'wait! you knew?' Isagi shakes his head 'no, of course, you did. i just don't know how.'

Hiori smiles wider, waiting for him to continue

'the German, of course, though i don't know how you knew when i only just found out.'

Hiori giggles, and responds 'oh, Ness told me! apparently, Kaiser had the same reaction when we all started learning English!'

In the background:

'oh, shit! gotta run!!! how could you throw me under the bus like that, you ultra-sadist!'

I LOVEDDD today Ch, we got to see Ichi and Gokuraku being terrorists and Dess and Kumugi being stressed as all hell!! They will develope gray hair before there 30s!! Lamo. But fr, Ichi was being handled like a bag or a small dog or both bc i have a small dog and do exactly this lol. More Desscaras and Kumugi, the sisters ever. They are good for my soul my sweet girls.

THEY ALSO FUCKED UP BAKUGAMIS GOONCAVE (thank you twt) and the Royal siblings too!! They remind me a lot of Dess and Libro in a way, Richia wasn't able to really protect Gokuraku as his big sister and now he is a wanted criminal thanks to Bakugami Desscaras couldnt protect Libro from the world hater and now he is dead (?)

Sisters that fall to protect there little brothers!! My favorite!!

oh shit! my door! it's been off for three weeks! (which is to say, wowza! i'm late, life got hectic and i didn't have it in me for a while!)

ichi being gokuraku's little purse dog/backpack cat is definitely in my top three things abt their relationship so far! it speaks of a level of instant ease that i often find missing in fictional friendships (and tells me things abt both characters which is always nice and rewarding!)

and i've said it before but i'll say it again: kumugi really embodies that overworked, underpaid grad-student/intern vibe, i feel for her soooo much. (dess made her own can of worms tho)

i find it very nice that i get to answer this after the current chapter, given that this is turning into a gokuraku angst fest where he's set up to fail to protect his adored elder sister (i do believe they could've introduced it better, as the whole "flower petal framed kiss on the hand with blushing faces" thing comes off as weirdly romantic, but the rest of their interactions were just sweet and endearing, gokuraku truly and really loves his sister most of all).

so it's an interesting thread of contrast to me! where the rowdy little brother is failing to protect his gentle big sister.

that said, i haven't had the chance to talk about it, but i find the way gokuraku is robbed of his status as a child both in text and in metatext one of the (to me personally) most fun things this arc! he's younger than richia who cannot be over 17-18, and yet everyone refers to him with "man"! he's the designated fanservice character! there's weird sexualization going on! i don't know what to do with this but it's definitely there and compels me.

i see the trial going three ways: 1) richia accepts the challenge but fails, causing great anguish, 2) richia raises to the challenge and succeeds, probably thanks to gokuraku's (and maybe ichi's) help and support through her suffering, and 3) bakugami, gooner that they are, notices just how much of whm is on ichi and has their little tantrum about it then challenges ichi.

out of the three i think the 1st one is least likely, as it's a bit too dark for what we've had so far (tho maybe not, given the zombie hallucinations of the latest chapter), and i find the remaining two equally compelling. the 2nd because i love my ensemble casts and i think this would be a touching and emotionally fulfilling conclusion to this stage of gokuraku's arc and the 3rd bc i think it'd provide us with a fascinating look into ichi's seemingly stunted emotions. that boy is capital "T" Traumatized™ and i've been waiting with popcorn ready to get some insight into that since we met him.

but yeah!! this series seems to like its contrasts and compliments, and i'm very much here for it all.

despite not being very far into ooo i've seen ankh's full greeed form, and tbh i kinda hate it,, so i redesigned him!! feat. some doodles of him not clinically posed and symmetrical :p

character design is a true passion of mine, so i infodumped broke down my process below the cut!! do note i'm not approaching this as someone who would have to consider fight choreo and stunts and whatnot. just a disclaimer lol

The thing i immediately hated was how human-like his face looked?? or at least his mouth. yuck. while i get wanting to set Ankh apart from the other greeeds, there's a difference between uniqueness and breaking the rules of design you've put in place for a set of characters. Uva, for instance, has a very bug-like face, whereas Mezool has almost no face thanks to the orca's mouth framing it. That means there's two major ways for a greeed's face to look, and i think where they went wrong was trying to do something entirely different for ankh.

i kindof get what they were going for by making the bird face frame Ankh's *real* face, but imo they added too much detail to both. if youre making the big face's mouth frame the actual face, don't give the actual face a mouth lol, it crowds the design too much and looks confusing. Plus, he's a suit character, he doesn't exactly need a mouth to talk from!! So for this redesign, i made both faces much more simple and gave the primary face a sortof stand-in mouth.

Next thing was the hair. why, why, WHY on EARTH does the hair on Ankh's full form not match the hair he gives the people he possesses?!?!?!? that was the first visual hint we get as to Ankh's full appearance when he changes Shingo's physical attributes upon possessing him, and when he possesses Eiji it does the same swoopy thing. so. i made my design have hair that does that. this is basic shit yall come on 😭

Then i saw the dinky lil drab half-cape they gave him and i said oh no. oh honey. this is a BIRD. you've Gotta give him more drama than that. i kept the black to break up the ocean of red in the design (and i'll admit it is still a little red-heavy up top), but since he is a bird-based character with a triad color scheme, i made the back of it have that gradient. the tatoba/traffic-light/analogous color pattern is repeated all over the suit in Ankh's canon design, and i did want to stick to that so he's still recognizable as the same character.

Speaking of sticking to canon, i actually think the chest piece and waist armor is the only thing i didn't majorly change. i simplified the color placement, but tbh that can be chocked up to the quick-and-dirty art style i did for this, i was mostly just feeling the design out. But i did include the gradients down the chest, again to break up the red. not sure if i like it if i'm 100% honest-- it doesn't quite line up the way i want. The only other thing i added here were the bird claw pauldrons, mostly to make him match Uva bc i LOVE Uva's weird bug leg pauldrons, and I love when design elements are repeated across different characters in unique ways. not sure if you can really see them under his fluffy feather cape, but oh well

I kept the thigh pieces fairly simple, omitting the green from the gradient as it's present on the loincloth-like piece just between them. For the kneepads, i repeated the flying bird motif on the iconic forearm armor, because it's such a fun element and is the first thing we see of Ankh, so i knew repeating it somewhere on the design was essential, even if it didnt match exactly. i see they did this on the canon design, but the shape was just too different to solidify it. it weirdly looks like a face? and again this isn't practical suit design-- i'm sure having kneepads in this shape would Not Work from a stunts standpoint.

Lastly, i don't have much to say about the shoepieces honestly? Aside from the fact that in Ankh's canon greeed form his bird claws more resemble owl feet. which. i guess isn't incorrect? they're still bird themed. just looks odd with the tropical bird everything else. So i just made them a bit daintier lol. kinda wish i'd kept the green painted nails tho, thats cute.

Strange, I have always thought it was spelled as Wasayago. But recently I've realized, I can't read very well.

I want to send appreciation today, to you.

You've taught me a lot about art. You've taught me a lot how to draw certain things, and you have opened my eyes to new perspective of art, ever since I started following you. Colours are brighter, I experiment more, I can see a specter of visuals that was previously hidden from me. It's like gaining shrimp colors.

Your art feels like an art classroom. There's sun pouring in from the windows, and there's tree leaves in front of them. Every time you come in you see different art projects. Paints add on to the tables, that will never scrub off again. There's dirty cups with paint water, and brushes, in the sink. It's lunch break, and there's people here. Some are just doing their math homework right before class, some are working on their sculpture, some are picking out paints, some are working on their new piece, on a fresh canvas. And it is so alive.

Your art feels so alive. Like the leaves, the people, the stains. It's really nice to see, every single time you post, how lovingly you bring a character into the world (My favorite so far is that one doodle of Modern au Gillion eating noodles, I have it in my favorites gallery).

I would like to see some unfinished, maybe forever to be so, doodles that you weren't especially proud of. We'll love it all.

im happy to know that you feel this way about my art, and im glad i could help you with some advice! it feels a bit weird to show unfinished or scrapped art under such a nice message, but yeah why not. and its funny that you mentioned the gillion eating noodles one, because its also one of the pieces that i really didn't like and didn't want to post hdgsh. i dont have that many unfinished drawings left because i delete or redraw most of them, but i have a couple that might be fun to share... and i guess it's gonna be a long post bc i wanna tell a little about each one or at least name them.

there's this art of chip, the first time i properly tried to figure out a way to draw him back when i just started listening. redrew this piece later, kept the sketch on the left, but the right one i changed completely because i didn't like the vibe this one has.

there's this attempt at redesigning caspian after i found out he was a water genasi, plus the first version of that art of caspian, pretzel and gill. this design didn't feel "caspian" enough, it looked too soft and kind where i wanted him to be more layed back and chill and sarcastic and with a bit of an edge. redrew both pieces later. the underwater drawing also has an unfinished background in this version, i added some fishies later so it didn't feel that empty.

some random sketch of gillion to show off how the lightning scars look on his face and neck. i quite like it, but it didn't really fit in the post with three proper drawings and one sketch so i decided to scrap it.

there's this drawing where i tried to figure out how the capital of the undersea looked like. i really didn't know where i was going with it and didn't have a good idea when i started drawing, so its a mess of things with nothing to really focus on. i tried to add a character on it later to breathe some life into it, but it didn't work out since i didn't focus it on the character from the beginning. plus i don't like how the colors turned out, and the entire concept of the environment feels weak and boring to me. i still want to draw more concepts of the undersea and try a couple other ideas, but probably at a later date...

the first version of whatever try it was to design gill's armor. (fun fact, i have more armor designs scheduled for tomorrow). this one i redrew almost immediately, i really didn't like how it turned out and how the legs were cut off and it looked so messy with no real accent point or personality. plus the smaller copy of the drawing in the corner just didn't look good. im not exactly proud of the redrawn version either (that's why i did another one yesterday lol), but im glad i redrew it anyway, it looks a lot better than this one.

the first sketch of that one gillion drawing. i couldn't figure out the colors for it for so long and wanted to drop the idea entirely. but i left it to sit for a couple hours and eventually got the motivation to come back to it and finish it. for most of the illustration pieces i did for jrwi there were multiple versions, where i just didn't like the first one and redrew the whole thing with a different composition and colors. didn't save any of those drawings tho...

this drawing of jay but with green wings and a slightly different color shirt. it was actually the first version of this drawing, and i changed the colors to blue later. wanted to post both of them side by side but then decided against it. that's why this drawing survived and was properly saved and not just deleted.

more recent attempts at designing the chaingel. i like the concept, and the pose in the second sketch is pretty badass, but the execution is just not there. it doesn't feel right, doesn't have the right kind of vibe that this character gives off. so im sure i will try and draw her later when i figure out what's missing and how to show her personality in the way it feels in my head. but these two sketches were never going to see the light of day, so now they're here.

Whew. Hey friends. Forgive the radio silence, I have been unwell. Very unwell in fact. I won't bore you with all the details bc chronic illness be chronically illnessing as that's just how it be sometimes, but it's been an all-out effort just to function and remain upright this entire month. I have some very not fun blood work coming up tomorrow (if you know my history and weird genetic deformity surrounding blood work you know why this is an ~event~) and then I get to see my lovely rheumatologist next week so hopefully things will be looking better from there.

Mine: the colors I've used the most consistently in my own fanart

Anime: pulled straight from screen caps from the show (i also tried to find scenes where the lighting was most "average" (so no night scenes, or scenes with noticibly harsh lighting)

Manga: pulled from these official manga box set covers (bc they all seemed consistent in lighting and shading)

Probably one of my oddest projects yet, but I've always wanted to compare what colors I choose when drawing the characters vs what the anime uses vs what Fujimaki uses. Color choices and art styles usually go hand in hand, so I wanted to see how weird the characters would look in my style with the two different canon color palettes. Conclusion; pretty fucking weird (to me, at least).

I've always suspected it, but I think this is pretty concrete evidence that I go bold when it comes to coloring (which I think fits my chonky lineart and cartoonist art style). It was funny to see that the anime colors especially are actually rather "dull", because they don't look it at all to me in the actual show. Fujimaki's style was hard to translate, since obviously he uses traditional mediums and also does a lot of blending/shading. I still tried my best to pick the colors that I thought were most prevalent in his images, even though, obviously, they aren't quite so flat in the actual illustrations. I used the special edition covers for the manga color palette, but I'm not 100% sure if Fujimaki himself drew/colored these special edition covers, so someone please correct me if wrong!

Some conclusions I made;

apparently, at some point, I decided to make Kuroko pale as hell??? i think he's always read as pale to me (bc compared to other average characters like Furihata and the GoM themselves, he's does look fairer-skinned imo. But apparently I leaned waaay into that lol. Once I got the actual canon color tones I was like "....oh. I made him sickly...". TBH tho, I think he looks better paler in my style, but that's probably because I got so used to drawing him that way lol. Please do lmk if you think I should begin to switch things up tho when it comes to my style!

kagami, alternatively, I ended up making tanner than canon it seems. but my (perhaps controversial) anime opinion is that Japanese artists tend to "whitewash" a little bit (aka they lean into lighter tones as opposed to darker when it comes to poc skintones). Now kagami, may or may not be mixed raced, but i've always thought a rich, tan skin tone fit him quite well, idk.

I already knew I did this, but its clear from these drawings that I really lean into the colors of their hair. once I get to the GoM, this will be very obvious ("I mean, the colors are in their NAMES. ofc i'm gonna exaggerate them" -> I'm sure that was my exact logic whilst picking my personal palette over the years).

since i'm lazy, i usually just make the characters hair and eye colors the exact same hue, so it was fun to see the different tones they can take in the canon palettes.

So yeah, I plan to go through all the GoM and compared my color preferences vs anime canon and manga canon, so look forward to that! If you read this far, thank you I love you.

If you guys give suggestions, perhaps I'll go back and make a "voted on" color palette, so please do let me know your opinions, in terms of what colors you think "feel right"/look best in my style! :)

But nono that is Absolutely an NBC dress!! I see the vision!! I am personally not as big of a Rollo fan but I DO think he is a fascinating little bug. I'm putting him in a little jar under a big ol' magnifying glass and observing him for forever. I like that Masquerade offered us a look at other mage schools and how they work, what villains they're based on, etc. I really appreciate him for that. I did actually really enjoy what we got to learn about him too. Fun stuff! Love Masquerade.

Since I brought up other games though,, I've been wanting to ask actually if you've ever looked into Diabolik Lovers? If you haven't and ever want to... I do want to warn you that the anime is NOT very good unfortunately </3. It's one of those animes that's just kind of a really shitty ad for whatever it's original media form was. It skips out a lot of important lore/character info, and doesn't really showcase each character properly since it tried very hard to focus on just 1 brother and failed. So the ganes/translations are 100% the way to go.

I bring it up tho bc it's my fave character's birthday today :D!! Ohh,, Reiji Sakamaki the strange little specimen you are <3 <3 my lovely wife that drugs people. I adore him. I think tbh you could like him too based on the stuff you usually talk and write about here. But obviously I could be very wrong! No way to actually know.

YES!!! Glomas gave us so much!!! It's one of my favorite twst events. Being able to see what other magic schools are like and how they function (NBC having a student council in contrast to NRC's Housewarden system). I really hope there will be more events like it! I'd love an event where the RSA students are given more spotlight or an RSA-centric event!!! It would be so exciting!!!!

[ Act One: Maremma Boy. ]

You had never visited Italy, but this little town you found in Maps seemed quite nice. You were used to traveling alone, so getting there and exploring wasn't a big deal. In fact, you loved it. And these towns had such quiet nights that it made you happy to just exist while the streets were empty.

Your steps took you along the beach, walking towards some rocks. There, you sat down and watched the rolling waves and the glistening moonlight shining over the surface of the water. Only the sound of the sea remained at this hour of night. And it was such a pacific moment. You could get lost in it forever.

"Ah... Good evening."

That voice caught you off guard. You look around, clearly startled, but don't see anyone in your line of vision. Until you look amongst the rocks, and find a young man, leaning against the rocks. You can't quite see his hands since he's leaning his head against his crossed arms, but you do see his skin is pale and his wet hair is very long.

"You aren't from around here, are you? I've seen most of the people in town at least once but it's the first time I see you."

As you explain where you came from and how you got here, he seems to raise his eyebrows, amused. This is interesting company.

"Oh, I see. Did you like the town so far? I hope you did. It's full of great people. You'll like it here, you'll see. What is your name?"

As you say it, he seems to take it in like a breath of fresh air. He then grins at you with a playful expression.

"My name is Lucio. I live around here... But you'll only see me at this hour, and at this place. And not for too long. You see, there's a secret I'm trying to keep... And you have to promise me you won't tell anyone about it. But it is late for you. I'll tell you what - I'll make an exception, because I'm interested in knowing you better. Let us meet at sunset in this same spot tomorrow, yes?"

You nod, now fully curious about this. Lucio's smile turns softer as he slowly backs into the sea.

"Very well. I will be waiting. Do not let me down. It was very very nice to meet you. You have a beautiful name, by the way.*

As Lucio fades into the sea, you wonder if it's really this late or if you're really too tired. Because one, you don't see any houses around the shoreline, so it wouldn't be likely that he lived here. And two...

... Was it your imagination, or did you just see a human sized fin come out of the water for a moment, as Lucio swam away?

[ Act Two: Tu sei il mattino. ]

"Come on, Lu, light up a little!"

Lucio sat on the back of the ship with his friends, slightly uneasy. As much as he loved the sea, he would never get used to ships. And so, he clutched a notebook between his hands, fidgeting with the pages

You knew Lucio. He was the boy who came near the shore to sing with his guitar almost everyday. You had never seem him up close, but you've already memorized his voice. And today, it seemed like he wasn't having a great time.

You liked eavesdropping on the ships above your head. Mermaids always have the most fun, seeing the most beautiful parts of the sea, and meeting all kinds of fascinating humans. Even though you had to run away from one or two fishing boats every now and then, you still were very curious about humankind. And particularly, humans like him - artistic, talented and seemingly kind.

"I don't like this very much, are you sure you know how to get back to the shore?"

"Ah, come on, Lucio, of course we know! Doesn't this help inspire you? Being surrounded by all this landscape?"

"I mean... I don't know... I need new ideas for a song but this isn't really working... "

You hear his voice. He's frustrated. And you don't like hearing him like that. You'd rather have him sing a beautiful song as usual. After a while of thinking, you have an idea to make that happen. It might be risky, but you're willing to take this risk.

You wait until you hear the friends laughing and joking amongst themselves, after Lucio announces he will be inside the ship. And then is when you decide to make your great appearance. You knew it had a small window with a view of under the sea. So you waited until you saw his silhouette on the corner of your eye until you made your move.

You tapped the glass thrice to catch his attention. And you saw his eyes widen with clear fascination when he saw you in all your glory, scales covering parts of your face and hands, with shells in necklaces and your colorful fins. There was no way he didn't know you were a mermaid. You smiled at him and waved, waited for him to wave back, and swam away, flustered. This was the closest you'd get to a human, and it was a bit too much for now.

Lucio, while he saw you escaping, remained there, with his mouth slightly open, unable to believe that such a beautiful sight was real. He knew he needed to do something about this. He needed to make sure you weren't a dream, but most importantly, he needed to get to write first and foremost.

He had just gotten the inspiration for a new song.

And he was willing to find you so you could hear it.

last book: A Rulebook for Restless Rogues, which I got as a blind book at my local bookstore. I'm about halfway through and it's fun so far!

last movie: But I'm a Cheerleader, like a month and a half ago, bc I don't watch a lot of movies. it was my pick for movie night and it's one of the first gay movies I ever saw and I love it to this day! Very cute and fun to watch with friends.

last tv show: Dandadan, which is a very weird but good anime about urban myths and aliens. it also has a killer theme song which is almost always stuck in my head, so. that could be good or bad.

sweet/spicy/savoury: savoury > sweet > spicy (I have very low spice tolerance, if you give me too much spicy I will die. A little bit is good tho!)

relationship status: dating my beloved partner for 6 months as of tomorrow <3

last thing I googled: recipe for sweet potato fries, bc I couldn't remember how long to cook them.

current obsession: I wanted to say a fandom but honestly my current obsession is scrapbooking, I decided to do one for my hiking trips this fall and went crazy on it. I am slowly morphing into a grandma. In the brief moments i've managed to do something that is not cross stitch or working on gifts for people, I've been doing critrole stuff, so that's probably peak fandom obsession atm.

looking forward to: being done with the somewhat complicated cross stitch I decided to make my boyfriend for christmas! I'm excited for how it's gonna come together and I can't wait for them to see it <3 also, dinner and anime with them and their partner on Thursday, and going to get hot pot on Saturday!

i'm a little jealous at how quickly you're mowing through these elden ring bosses but i guess i should have expected that from a more experienced fromsoft player! how does the combat/world feel compared to prior games?

im realizing its mostly a matter of knowing the "language" of the games so i know what to look out for. i've died 12000000000 deaths to learn the true secret of fromsoft games: swing the camera around to look for enemies waiting to leap out at you behind walls. and always check to make sure the elevator is there

it feels great! i have some small complaints but a lot of quality of life stuff they added is a godsend. they finally combined all the good parts of previous games without clipping off any beloved features.

pros: i really like the ash systems, i think they're fun and easy to understand. i understand fromsoft's insane, overly complicated leveling menus more than i think most people would, but i think they've finally whittled it down into something a normal person could reasonably come to understand. DS1 is like trying to read ancient sumerian, comparatively. everything about the map near perfect (i wish there was a way to mark things as "done" but that's like. it.). its astoundingly readable. the increase in "bonfire" locations is very appreciated. they did me a huge favor by cutting down on the repeat minibosses (so far) which was one of the worst parts of sekiro. the enemy and boss diversity is kind of nuts. i cannot believe how massive the map is and how complex it is. when i discovered there was a whole underground part i was blown away. despite these improvements, i do not feel like from is holding my hand; i like figuring things out for myself! i like getting verbal instructions from a character who expects you to remember what they said instead of giving you a fucking quest marker.

cons: (skill issue) dude i think they fiddled with the parry timing across games again (i was fiddling with ds3 before this) bc i am REALLY struggling lol. ALSO FIGURE OUT A CONTROL SCHEME AND STICK WITH IT!!!!!!!!! STOP CHANGING THE ESTUS BUTTON. MIYAZAKI'S WORST PRANK YET. i've also stated how amazing the game runs considering the sheer size of it all but twice now it's locked up on me to the point of crashing/near crashing. this might be an impossible to avoid hurdle considering im playing it on ps4.

also, critically regarding how fast i'm moving: its really getting in the way of comic. the faster i finish it, the less distracted i'll be. i needed a lark.
