god. uh. myhouse.wad, huh? I have, frankly, way too many thoughts about this entire mod. Please bear with me as I try to ramble my way through them, I ended up going off under the read more.

I’m going to be honest, this game felt like an extended, emotional fetch quest for me until this point. Don’t get me wrong, I knew that all the items had emotional and memorial impact, but...this one got to me. This moment hit me like a fucking truck.

For those of you who don’t play Dungeon and Dragons, sessions get long. On average they can run anywhere between 4-6 hours, but I myself have played longer, with the longest taking the cake at almost a half day, or roughly 11 hours. A lot can happen in a session, and most of it is just...joking around. The phrase “roll for intercourse” is a reference to an age-old running gag of players trying to seduce an NPC for whatever reason. It’s funny. It happens so often it’s a meme.

But finding it here...it really hit me. This isn’t just a reference to a well-known meme. Tom and Steve sat down and played D&D together, spending multiple hours in a day to play sessions, likely with other players but always with each other. And this phrase? It stuck out, it’s a moment that stuck with Steve for one reason or another, and my only guess is to say it’s because it‘d become an inside joke. And...you can’t help but wonder what it was. If Steve had been DMing, or if he’d been the one trying to seduce the NPC much to Tom’s chagrin, or...what.

And that at the core is the devastating part of myhouse.wad. The more I sit and think about it, the more I think about it, the more I realize this map is chock full of inside jokes, and we as players will never understand them. Because it’s not meant for us. These are things we’ll never have context for because one of the people involved is gone now. And the more I think about it, the more the realization hit that this entire map is not a game and really, truly is a memorial.

Do you remember when we played with Legos together? Do you remember when we played video games? Drinking milkshakes in the basement, sharing a pop? Our inside jokes? Roll for intercourse. Pumpkin Rick. Shrek chasing after you. Do you remember when we got married? I do. The house does. The house loves you. I love you. I miss you.

This map reads like a conversation, someone reaching out to someone else. You can’t help but wonder who is reaching out to who, though.

You know, I was talking to some friends on Discord about this map, and one of them brought up something interesting that I agree with. myhouse.wad draws clear inspiration from House of Leaves, but there’s a distinct difference between them. They both have heavy themes of grief and closure, but where House of Leaves is mysterious because of the layers and layers of unreliable narrators, myhouse.wad is mysterious because of you’re only ever hearing one side of the conversation. House of Leaves makes me feel like I’m intruding on something that no human should ever know. myhouse.wad makes me feel like I’m hearing part of a conversation through a wall.

Either way, there is one thing that both works share: This is not for you. It never was.

You know, I kind of wonder what their D&D campaign was about, if this moment was enough to stick out as an inside joke. I wonder what their sessions were like. I hope they had fun.

AND FINALLY.... @artsavi - I must admit i didn't know about Abby before, but I love a good UPA desing and hers is excellent. The backstory? the chari thing? Iconic. I had so much fun with this one, tho i think I made her face a bit too small... https://artfight.net/~CometMonster - This was such a fun piece. I love this character and i am honestly proud of how it came out! The hands where a challenge and I am not the best at colouring metal, but I was surprised at how well ti came out!. It definetly helped that Ruhbin has such a coold desing. She's such an elegant character, her desing really conveys the robo-jazzsinger vibe @veganbear - I can't believe I have taken so long to draw Joan. I was a bit scared because your arstyle is so unique and dynamic I was afraid it wouldn't translate well. But drawing Joan got me out of the artfight burnout! and then I promptly crashed afterwards lmao

Artfight 2023!

I had so much fun doing attacks this year! My goal was to do more attacks than I did last year--while I did not get more any really big attacks done, I did get one more attack than last year! ((I have not included two attacks because they are from a 21+ group and I want to be able to show this off to coworkers))

I once again started out with digimon attacks! As I've said many times, digimon is my default fandom <33 I also downloaded krita and experimented with it on the 6th and 7th drawings here! (The one of the person in the hanging chair and the pokemon picnic)

Heyo! I’m Avi, I’m a twenty-four year old aro/ace nonbinary (they/them), and an all around Chaotic Dumbass™.

I’ve been roleplaying on Tumblr for like uhhh thirteen years? Almost? And roleplaying in general for like fourteen. I tend to fall back on writing OCs, mostly of the fandomless variety, but I do have quite a few muses for canon characters that I love to write as.

I’m currently trying to overcome some pretty bad depression, anxiety disorder, and other mental illness stuff. I’ve mostly been good for the past year, but some days are worse than others so if you ever see me drop offline unannounced or if replies take a slow turn, please be understanding.

I’m an aspiring game developer with a couple of drafts for possible games in the works. The only game making software I’ve got at the moment though is RPG Maker 2003, and I’m still figuring things out with it, so who knows if I’ll ever get anything done with it.

I also have a hobby in acting and sometimes do performances at the local community theater. Some shows I’ve been in include The Nightmare Before Christmas (Oogie-Boogie), The Princess Bride (Vizzini), The Breakfast Club (The Basketcase/Allison Reynolds), The Wizard of Oz (The Wicked Witch), and many others. I’ve been acting for a long while, so there’s been quite a few performances.

I also love playing Dungeons and Dragons. I’ve got several characters running around, and am currently running a long-term game on a Discord server. I am also a somewhat active member in the First Drafthouse, which is a server for the Toonkind homebrew race. My characters there include Marian Marcutio, Abby K. Debra, Azha Eridanus, Ami the Angel, Arata Satomi, and Dillan B. Cynd.

My personal blog is aviaviator, which is almost always running on a next-to-full queue (ten posts per day), I have an art blog over at artsavi where I dump a lot of doodles and such, and I’ve got a writing blog for one shots and shorts for various fandoms and fandomless stories over at aviwrites.

Hey guys, sorry for up and abandoning this blog. I recently have come to terms with the fact that I am far too out of touch with the OFF fandom to keep up with it, and that I simply don't have the motivation to keep it running. Tumblr has eaten most of the asks I had saved throughout the updates and while I do have a few on a text document I don't have all of them. So I'm a little bit sad to actually make this announcement.

This blog is officially on an indefinite hiatus.

It's been really fun while I did have it running and I've met quite a few wonderful people through here, but for now I'm closing the door on it. If you'd like to keep up with my artwork you can find my art blog over at @artsavi , and if you'd rather just keep in touch with me in general, you can find me over on @aviaviator .

THAT BEING SAID, I am absolutely excited to announce that I've started up a new ask blog for an original set of characters. @ask-toontown is home to several cartoon characters and a few of their human creators, and you can ask them about their daily lives as...something unfolds. It just started up, but I am hoping to make it into its own story further down the line once it's gained enough traction. Go ahead and follow if you're at all interested in cartoon characters, an unfolding mystery, and possible conspiracies against the town itself!

Once again, I'm gonna take a moment to say how much I love you all for helping me out with this wonderful ask blog and for making it such an enjoyable experience, and a special thank you for the OFF fandom being one of the most welcoming communities I've ever had the pleasure of being with. Maybe one day I'll come back here with full steam. Who knows?

A friend on Discord asked me about how I do digital shading while we were in a voice call, and while I tried to explain I ended up going on like three different tangents about color theory and layer modes, so instead I ended up haphazardly slapping this together. I’m not an expert by any means and I am entirely self taught (aside from like...a couple oil painting classes) but I hope it helps some of y’all too!

Hey all!

I’m not actually back from my hiatus, in fact I’ve kinda lost my muse for Leo and most of my sideblogs for a long while.
