wow, i remember being in her patreon a couple of years ago and she posted a vague audio recording about this that was deleted soon after. i decided then and there to stop supporting her. i thought of this situation recently and i wanted to see if she's grown as an artist and almost 2 years later, she hasn't learned anything. in addition to selling art mentioned above, she's taken to stealing from shiroiroom too.

you could argue the first two are "inspirations" but the desk mats (last image) are blatant second-rate copies. if she has no scruples about stealing from artists who have a bigger name than her, i wonder who else she's stolen from. i'm extremely disappointed.

Yesterday I discovered that an artist had traced my art and was planning to make pins out of them. Art theft is bad enough, but stealing art for commercial use? Big yikes. I confronted her and while she did apologize and delete the posts, she only admitted to referencing my work rather than straight up tracing it. And she is deleting all comments calling her out on it.

I was going to leave it alone, but then I found out she has done this to multiple other artists in the past. While she does make some adjustments to the designs, it’s obvious enough that I could directly tell what the original image was. And she has never credited the original artist for any of these.

I never make public call outs like this, but since she is actually profiting and making these for commercial use I feel it is justified in this case. This person has been confronted by others in the past yet she continues to steal, so clearly she hasn’t learned anything (i talked to an artist who confronted her as recently as last month).

She is called @guillmon9005 on Instagram, and her shop account is called @Chenxira - she also has a Patreon account.

I don’t want any harassment to be sent her way, I just want this information to be public. I don’t think it’s okay that she has been able to continue for this long without ever addressing the situation. Perhaps you disagree with me and don’t consider this theft, which is ok! But even so, it’s shady to be so heavily inspired by someone else and not even giving them credit for it.

How did they use AI? Was it in a capacity where they could have used human digital artists? The wording on the website makes it sound like they used both- whether anyone was put out of a potential job by it has a huge impact on how I feel about it. But that's not disclosed online

Historical Costumer and History Worker are not mutually exclusive! friendly reminder that Abby Cox and Nicole Rudolph and Cheyney McKnight and many others all work or have worked in this field professionally beyond the YouTube space, to say nothing of people like Ruth Goodman who do experiential archaeology fully outside of social media! -won't you like geez. I'd rather have a video of Nicole Rudolph spinning in a Worth replica you paid her to make and demonstrate than an AI holograph, personally

Any incursion of AI into the museum-space worries me deeply even though AI can't do my jobs within the field...for now. If we don't stand up for those first affected, we will all fall eventually, I feel. Even nonprofits aren't immune to cost-cutting measures, especially those that run on a shoestring budget as most of our orgs do.
