Tangentially related to some of the discussion i posted earlier but quiet literally the first RW Art Month i participated I did it completely on whim like, one day before it started. And I mostly did it because I hadn't drawn a ton of rain world and wanted to draw more. Fandom presence was a lot smaller than and I was one of a handful of artists who did the entire thing. Fast forward and I still do Art Month and I've gotten to work with VC directly. But it was quite literally something I decided to do completely on whim that set the ball rolling, and for something a lil more niche and certainly with a lot more dev/fandom art involvement than most. It's really random how and why you might get noticed more than usual, especially with the "toss it into the search and hope it pays out' mechanism of Socmed

#t.extpost #and im hardly the fanciest art month artist out there so it wasnt even about being a jaw droppingly talented artist or whatever #and while artmonth for rw is still given a huge focus its also a much much bigger thing now with a much bigger number of participants #which is cool! its awesome how many people i saw do most if not all of last art month! and VC is really good about not just repping the #most popular artists or fanciest pieces #but theres So Much More there now and while its great for finding artists its also impossible to get Everyone in there you know?#Although they absolutely try #And this is like. one of the most fanartist involved devs ive ever seen in terms of both celebrating the art their fans make and actively #bringing those fans in to contribute #and its /still/ hard to get going just because thats how Posting is #i used to be more of a hk artist which is both a huge fandom and riddled with stunning artists but theres So Many #and niche fandoms are niche so youre more likely to connect with people but less likely to see a ton of engagement regularly -#probably best example i have for that was being briefly fixated on patapon.#Its just messy to try and find the hack that sets you up #just have fun and jump around and make what you like #get a sense of feeling for your style and some people will stick around for that vs. strictly the subject matter #others will look up the thing you switched too and some wont engage #you cant really control it #so have fun and draw that thing you randomly thought about at 2 am that doesnt match your blog #draw for that forgotten rpg you liked when you were 15 or draw for the 70 player max steam game you played for this week #you never really know what will happen #but its not really worth worrying about what will happen either

I’ve always been interested in things like choose your own adventure stories or when community polls choose what happens in a story. Tbh I would love to write one (I know there’s a way to do this on ao3, the choose your own adventure part not the poll one as far as I’m aware) it’s just a matter of 1. Making time to do it 2. Deciding what story/fandom to write it for 🤨

#I have a lot of wips and stuff going on stewing and marinating behind the scenes rn #and a lot of stuff I WANT to do soon #or post art fight #I need to draft ch 3 of tm2 (a lot of it IS drafted but I’m considering entirely swapping ch3/4s orders around -_-#for reasons that boil down to ‘I think it would flow better) but maybe not? aaaa #it doesn’t matter either way I need to sit and sketch pages of that #+me seriously considering a manga adaption of the ps tmm game #I think it would be fun if after drafting a script and a set number of pages it was a collab effort of the fandom like each person does 1-2 #pages with certain criteria. like those (fandom) animated episodes artists do but with a comic??#it would need to be all type set by one person to make sure it’s legible tho #and I’m gonna be honest ive organized small events before but smth like that would be a LOT of organizing wrangling and communicating #but it could be fun!!#I also want to start doing more art stuff in general like on schedules tho like perhaps do fanart Friday every week or something.#another solo zine. or even a fandom zine or some kind but make it free and Small Scale bc that’s The Vibe I enjoy #SO MANY THINGS IN MY BRAIN HELP.#<is drowning in ideas #I also wanted to make a pony sona and draw Valerie DP after seeing that good edit last night andkckfkck #can I do both before AF starts??! we will find out!!!#i knooow I’ve been posting a lot on my art blog I will queue them if I do these I swear I will give u guys a breather #sanchoyorambles #long ramble short I want to write more fics but also have 3849594 art ideas going #aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

#listen 2 me. as someone who has a passive interest in the youtube algorithm #and likes to hear people talk about 'optimizing' it sometimes #and Also as someone whos very involved in fandom culture #its so!! fascinating to listen someone who has a fandom talk about the meta of their work!#like #when i think of 'ashswag' i automatically think of the fandom. i think about the thousands of words and dozens of art about spite and rage #but. ashswag (the guy) refering to 'ashswag' as a brand that can be optimized #its. a Really jarring disconnect as someone who thinks of the fandom First #esp when parrot and ash talking about the longevity of their channels #and talking about other creators and eventually going #'yeah i wish my content will grow with me as a person so i wont beat youtube like a dead horse and not enjoy it :/'#is. so interesting.#esp bc later they talk about off sourcing their editing to dedicated editors so they can be consistent #and trying to find the motivation to keep on going for like #5 years #and about how their goals are numbers based but also 'i wanna make meaningful content'#like. bud. yall already are #as someone whos talked with lots of members of the lifesteal fandom: yall are making art that inspires you!#it isn't just content that can be optimized. your videos inspire other people to create and connect #and be. human with each other.#and i Do think thats where fandom shines best #artists celebrating other artists #and ive been trying to go into this mindset myself: but youtubers are artists man!#theyre just using a new medium!!#and it sucks that youtube sees them as profit machines!! and punishes you for taking breaks bc youre human!!!!#but. listen man. when i think of ls s3 #yes i do think of the traps and pvps #but i also think about something else #i think about the trust. i think about how in a server that punishes you for being bad at the game
